Blitzo: No, I just- This was the final stop on the apology tour I've been on today.

Stolas: Oh, yes, I recall. Everyone but me is getting your cheap apologies tonight, hm? Well, you certainly have your work cut out for you.

Blitzo: Look, how I acted this morning... It was fucked, okay?

Stolas: This morning? Ugh, why did you show up there? [falls backwards into Blitzo's arms] Why'd you show up here?

Blitzo: You already asked that, but look, I-I just really need to... To talk to you, to- to explain.

Stolas: Oh?

Blitzo: Oh, shit. Okay, what I mean is, I said sorry a lot today and, honestly, didn't really mean any of it. Because the only one I wanted to say it to... Was you, Stolas. I just... This whole thing we had going... I'm- I mean you're a fucking prince. How could you ever actually care for an imp... Me? How could anybody?

Stolas: Blitzo. There is a crowd full of people here, who cared so much, they'd throw an entire fucking party about hating you, every year! Do you know how much you have to care to do something as stupid as that?

Blitzo: Stolas, you are better off without me. 'Kay? You deserve so much... [voice breaks] I don't even know why you would want to be with me.

Stolas: You wanna know what I want? I want to know what it's like, to not be alone. I want to be someone's someone. I want to feel wanted. But like, in a romantic way, like I'm standing out in the rain at a train station and someone is shouting: “Harriet! Don’t get on that train, it’s going to London and I cannot be without you!”[As Stolas continues the dramatic declaration, he stands up, catching the party goers' attention. Blitzo quickly covers his face to avoid being noticed. The party goers go back to what they were doing.]

Blitzo: Oh, Stolas, that's... a rom-com.

Stolas: [sits back down] Oh, fuck you. The point is, I just... want someone to care if I stay or go. I want someone to want... me! To want to see me. To hold me. To look at me and think "You're the only one I want!" [sheds tears] "I desire to hold you and talk to you, and never let you feel so..." [As Stolas spoke, Blitzo feels more and more guilty with how horrible he treated him. and when Stolas crouches down, he leans his hand to stroke him, but stops when Stolas sits up.]

Stolas: You! Why are you here? I don't want you here, go home, please! Let me not feel so sad! [sobs, and then takes a deep breath]

[Blitzo is about to say something when an succubus suddenly appears]

"Better than Blitzo" Guy: Hey.

Stolas: [startled] Oh! Hello.

"Better than Blitzo" Guy: Great song earlier. You have great pipes.

Stolas: [wipes away tear] Thank you.

Blitzo: Yeah, yeah, yeah. He sings fantastic, we're talking here!

"Better than Blitzo" Guy: Well, I just wanted to see if... [brushes back his hair] Maybe... I dunno... You'd wanna... Dance?

Stolas: You want... to... dance... with me?"

Better than Blitzo" Guy: [stands up] Yeah.

[Stolas looks between both demons. Blitzo sighs and gestures for him to go.]

Stolas: [excitedly] Okay!

[Blitzo watches as Stolas takes the guy's hand and leaves the room to dance. Blitzo walks to the door and watches as Stolas cheerfully dances before seeing Verosika walk up the stairs. He walks up the stairs and stands next to her, removing the sheet from his head.]

Direct, Solyss (Rainbow) + Kip (Ember) I like this name because he’s an insecure healer who took a long time to pass his apprenticeship, so it seems fitting.

I thought this name would make sense as a name for a suspected fading kit who lived. In game she’s a mtf trans Molly, but I decided that she was actually assigned a Gib at birth since the fading kit thing. She later figured out she contained Mollyness.

Tempestecho | Kychkarraoyaawo

This one was pretty direct too, and I think it’s a good candidate for a nickname due to the length. Maybe Kychaawo?

Fintwist | Sseoshigashig

Fintwist kinda brings to mind a fish twisting it’s fin to turn around for whatever reason, so I think dance works for that. Nickname could be Sseoshig.

Curlewback | Byyrbesaofa

Went with the sand martin to keep the shorebird connection! Also, used spine-mane since I couldn’t find a word for back.

Yellowdapple | Aweenkonpen

Direct, not much to say about this one, haha.

Decided to go with the tawny owl over the color since he isn’t that color, and has a weather suffix. ‘Bafwu’ seemed the closest to gale to me so I went with that.

No I don’t know what this name means either? Sounds like an off-brand Lionblaze.

Fallenbird | Fewlwheer

This name struck me as an Honor title, and he spawned in with a bite scar, which makes that fit even more. I like to think his original names prefix was Wheer, so the Honor title represents how the swift fell, but got back in the air.

Riverlotus | Sbasspowo

I’m glad I managed to find the word for the waterlily, I wanted to show this name off, I love it.

Falconlaurel | Mweeliliprraponma

This was an interesting one, for sure! I wanted to go with an actual falcon species, instead of just going with Raptor/Yassga. This guys a mediator, so I went with the merlin. There wasn’t a word for laurel I could find but I thought that I could translate the vibe, since laurel brings to mind honor and triumph. I decided that, for a mediator, Prra-ness would be an associated feeling/goal, so I chose Primrose (Prraponma) as the suffix because of the winter association example. So his name, could also be translated back as Merlinprimrose, or just Merlinrose for short. Nickname could be Mweeponma?

Springbreak | Mwarussmimanaw

Honestly I just wanted show off that I got a cat named Springbreak. Anyways I went with it being Spring as in the season, and decided that I would use mimanaw (lounge) instead of anything related to breaking/shattering, to make it so that her name basically means a break in Spring. Though, Springbreak could be a good Dishonor title, Yiaokerroch. Jump-shatter, you hurt yourself by springing. Anyways nickname could be Mwanaw.

Branchripple | Baryennipa

I decided to use the future tense of ripple, to make the name mean that she will make the branches ripple. She graduated early, so its to say that she will make an impact.

Fintwist is absolutely drawing me in, fantastic use of the brand new "fin-wing." I've got an image in my mind of one of them decorative dragon koi, swirling around and around.

Koi aren't common in Clan territory, and when they ARE seen they're dealt with, but it's also possible for this one species I like a lot to have a light, shining morph. I should make a special word for that color of Tench when I get there...

Also congrats on Springbreak that's AWESOME I love it. And Logblaze? Sounds like a big bonfire to me! Maybe your cats like to BBQ ThunderClan-style!

Bay Laurel (Laurus nobilis) = Skoka BY the way, in my Willow Quest, I learned something heartbreaking....... bay willow doesn't grow here. I misidentified a willow. God have mercy on my soul Bayshine's name is BAY LAUREL-Shine, Skokashem. Oops. I will be repurposing the Wawa word in the Lexicon to a different type of willow.

Cherry Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus) = Reyoka Both of these are made into laurel wreaths btw, and the wood is burned because it smells nice. This one has red berries and less uses in general, but smells nicer when burned.

Gale = Harloo A very strong wind.

White Clover (Trifolium repens) = Glem This is the one you think of when you think of a classic three-leaved clover. It has short, round petals, and its flowers are typically white. This one is favored by grazing animals.

Red Clover (Trifolium pratense) = Powglem This one has pinkish flowers with longer petals, and is used for medicinal purposes. This is the one used for Cloverfoot's name.

So, my request would be Jake „Hangman“ Seresin x Male Reader.

-> Jake and M/N are in a relationship, but Jake doesn't want to make it public and hasn't told the others either. He's always playing the playboy.

M/N comes to the bar and sees Jake flirting with a woman and he decides to "get revenge" and flirts with a man. Jake sees it all and becomes incredibly jealous.

Jake confronts M/N and they have a huge fight. M/N breaks up in tears and goes home. The gang try to help Jake and he tells them why he never said he had a boyfriend (fear of his dad).

The gang and even Maverick help Jake do something romantic. Jake orders M/N to the bar again and then blindfolds him. You go into the bar, which is decorated in a totally romantic way. The two eat together and talk. They finish dancing and Jake then leads M/N to the beach where the others are waiting and officially introduces him as his boyfriend.

Y/n was in a different squad. His squad was always going second after Maverick's squad. That means they always see them fly first and go to missions first.

One of the mission's Mavericks team caught them off guard and the navy needed Y/n's squad to save them.

And that's how Y/n met Hangman. Y/n thought he was irritating to save, but he dealt with him anyway taking him to safety.

Even though Jake didn't want to praise the other group he had to praise the leader. Sergeant Y/n L/n. He thought Y/n was pretty damn good at his job. The way he took care of his team and the way he showed why hes the leader was pretty good.

After they completed the mission Y/n and Jake had unrecognizable tension between each other. With all that tension in the room led to Jake cracking and asking out Y/n on a date. They spend almost everyday with each other not missing a single day without seeing the others face. Always sneaking off during classes or training to hang out.

The two were going great. Truly great. Their lives has been better with the other being by their side until Y/n tried to hold Jake's hand in public.

"whoa there Y/n." Jake moves his hand away very fast.

Y/n gives him a confused look and asks. "What? I can't hold your hand I thought we were dating-----" Y/n gets cut off by Jake covering his mouth.

"Keep your voice down..." Jake says in a hushed tone. "Look we are a thing. But not a public thing y'know? Jake adds moving his hand off of Y/n. Y/n stares at Jake like hes a ghost or something. "C'mon Y/n. Don't tell me you actually thought it was a public thing? Trust me we are boyfriends, but not like that."

Y/n didn't know why those words stung. To Y/n it's like Jake had just broken up with him. He didn't know why Jake started to treat him differently in public and private. Y/n's heart stung each time he'd think about it and especially Jake's words.

Since that day their relationship has had a crack. The sad thing is only Y/n saw the large crack not his boyfriend who looked like he wasn't and only saw the relationship as it used to be.

Y/n walks inside the bar in a good mood with some of his friends. Y/n finds an empty pool table and begins the game with some of his buddies. "Didn't think the little kids team was gonna be here." One of the girls say looking at Bradshaw and them joke around.

The little kids. Was your group's nickname for Y/n's boyfriend team name. Y/n looked up from the game and eyes widens.

Y/n grips the pool stick staring at his boyfriend watching Jake caressing a woman's lip with his thumb with a smirk. Jake leans in whispering in the woman's ear as she giggles and blush.

This wasn't the first time he saw Jake flirting with a girl. he always confronted him about it, but Jake always had an excuse and argument ready.

The man is sitting almost where his boyfriend is. Not close, but still close where you can hear the others conversation.

Y/n sits by the man moving his chair even closer to the man. The two hit it off kinda fast talking about all sorts of things. Once Y/n felt Jake's eyes on him he began to really make his move.

He began to give him compliments and little touches on the man. The man really did seem interested with Y/n flirting with him back even putting his hand on Y/n's thigh.

The man leans into Y/n whispering in his ear.

And that seems to finally get a reaction with Jake. Jake dismisses the girl saying "I'm not interested in you anymore." The girl looks hurt and heartbroken but walks away with some tears in her eyes.

Jake seems to move his chair around facing his boyfriend and the stranger's full attention on the two. Jake's jaw is tight as well is fist. Y/n side eyes his boyfriend sees his angry state and goes for the cherry on top.

Y/n gives the man a light kiss on the cheek. "Bye, hopefully talk to you soon?" Y/n says patting the man's back. The man gives Y/n a bright smile and a flirt wink before heading off leaving the bar.

Before Y/n gets to go back with his team he gets stopped by his boyfriend. "Y/n. What were you thinking flirting with that guy?" The blonde is gripping his boyfriend's wrist.

"What? I can't make friends." Y/n uses the excuse Jake always says when he confronts him. "It's not like we are a thing." That last line caused Jake to flip.

He shouts insults and remarks at Y/n not even caring about the tears in Y/n's eyes. "You're such an embarrassment. Theres no telling what people would say about me if they found out about you. And how could you be so selfish! Always trying to get me to come out Y/n I swear!---- " Jake stops his rant when he hears Y/n's choked sob fall from his lips and when he sees tears rushing down Y/n's face profusely no matter how much he wiped them.

Y/n storms out of the bar covering his face with his hands. Jake watches Y/n team follow after him quickly. "God. What did I do..." Jake's mind speaks for itself.

Hangman moves to the nearest window watching Y/n's team member hug him and open the car door for him. "What did you do Jake?" Phoenix asks looking outside the window beside him. The team all stare at Hangman.

After Jake tells them they all shout at him even coyote. Jake doesn't even try to defend himself knowing that he was in the wrong. "Why did you keep him a secret?" Fanboy asks shaking his head in disappointment."Yeah! Y/n is like one of the best people ever!" Bob adds in.

"Because of my father! Theres no telling what he will say or think if I come out and I have a boyfriend on the side of that."

"So, you were being a shit show of a boyfriend because of your father." Payback says starting to understand everything now. Hangman shakes his head yes.

"Someone call Mav. We gotta help this fool win his boyfriend back." Phoenix says with a plan already in mind.

TIMESKIP

Jake is standing outside the bar heart pounding out of his chest. The blonde begins to overthink his plan and himself. "What am I doing... he hates me now." Jake says covering his face with his hands and a sigh escaping his lips. His thoughts are so loud he didn't even hear a car pulling up and parking.

"Jake?" Hangman shoots his head up and smiles at his boyfriend. "Y-y/n you came!" Jake couldn't help but stutter when he saw him. Y/n wanted to just tear that smile off the blonde, but he knew he couldn't because he grew quite fond of that smile.

Hangman was nervous to give Y/n a hug, but thank god Y/n pulled Jake in his arms first.

The two stand and talk up a storm in front of the bar both of them honestly forgetting the harsh argument they shared hours ago.

"Are we gonna stand out here all day?" Y/n asks in a teasing tone which makes Jake remember his plan and cover Y/n's eyes with a tie. "Really a tie?" Y/n asks letting his boyfriend blindfold him. "Yeah do I have to bring up all the times you begged me to---" "Shut up!"

The couple laugh and joke around before Jake opens the bar door guiding his boyfriend in.

"Are you ready?" Jake asks standing behind Y/n getting ready to untie the tie. "Yes..." As soon as Y/n say yes Jake takes off the tie slowly and smiles to himself once he hears Y/n gasp.

"Jake! W-why did you do all this!"

"As an apology. I was being a real asshole and I messed everything up between us." Jake gets in front of Y/n before continuing. "You mean so much to me. I'm sorry Y/n I-I'm truly am---" Jake gets cut off by Y/n kissing him deeply on the lips.

Once the two pull away they let their foreheads rest against each other smiling and staring into the others eyes. Hangman pulls Y/n's hands dragging him to the bar.

"You did all of this?" Y/n asks looking at the romantic and beautiful scenery. "Of course I did!" Jake steals all the credit about working on the place even though it was mostly Bob and Maverick.

Hangman goes to the back of the bar getting f/n and handing Y/n's his own plate with a drink before he gets his own food sitting beside Y/n. "This is perfect. You are perfect." Y/n says eating some of the food.

The two talk about whatever is on their minds and cracking jokes. When the conversations get quiet it doesn't feel awkward at all it feels comfortable and loving.

"Do you wanna dance?" Y/n asks getting up walking to the jukebox. Jake downs his drink before getting up walking to Y/n standing beside him as he picks a song.

"Not this song Y/nnn." Jake groans seeing Y/n click on the song he honestly hates more than the whole world.

"You be the lady and i'll be the man." Y/n says with a smile putting his hands on Jake's waist.

Timeskip!

"Do you wanna meet my team?" Jake asks sitting on the floor with his boyfriend tired from all the dancing. "I already met your team Jake." "Yeah as C/n not Y/n Jake's cool and amazing boyfriend." Y/n becomes quiet staring at his boyfriend trying to see if hes joking.

"As your boyfriend?"

"Yes. As my one and only boyfriend."

"Hell yeah!"

"So what are we waiting for let's go!"

The two jump up from the floor and run out the bar hand in hand. "Are we seriously going to run to the beach!?!" Y/n asks with a shout.

Once the two arrive at the beach Hangman takes Y/n's hand giving it a large squeeze before turning around facing him. "Are you ready?" "Of course I am." They share one last smile before walking up to the group.

The group is quick to be silent giving the couple their undivided attention.

"Everyone. I'd like for you to meet my boyfriend Y/n." Jake says pulling Y/n in front of him.

one thing about grace i always found interesting and telling is that in s1 she tells campbell about the guns and yet asks him to leave tommy alone because she is in love with him.

like... what... did she think was going to happen?

anyway it's very telling about her sense of being protected by her status and class, that she thinks she can just ask this of campbell and he'll agree and they'll politely go their separate ways. it's very compartmentalized and privileged.

and all of that also comes through when she just expects Tommy will instantly forgive her betrayal and run away to New York with her at the end of the season.

she really doesn't understand anything about him or his world, and i think this shows up in both s2 and s3, but she's underwritten and it isn't drawn out enough to make really explicit. though I've written about the scene where she makes him make a promise at the wedding dance, etc.

grace is underwritten after s1 but i do continue to argue there actually is a lot there, you just have to give it some thought to make the connections a little more obvious. because the way she's written *is* very deliberately a rich girl who confronted some things about herself in s1 and ran away from them back to what she knew, and never fully dealt with the betrayal of trust between her and Tommy and how it impacted him.

you’re a sporty person. I have a question. I used to enjoy working out and trying out new sports, but in the last 2 years I’ve been really uninterested in, well, pretty much anything. This is gonna sound stupid but I feel like one of the biggest barriers to exercise for me is that I have to put on different clothes to do it. I just can’t stand the inconvenience. like for example if I’m in bed in my pajamas, now I have to get changed. If I’m already dressed for the day, now I have to put on a whole different outfit. drives me crazy. anyway, have you or anyone you follow ever dealt with this and do you have any tips?

That's not stupid at all! I would bet it's very common, but I only know for sure it's very common FOR ME, and yeah it absolutely majorly sucks. Especially in the winter if you're a northern hemisphere person, because you have to put on extra layers of gear in the morning. Sometimes just the idea of putting on a bra feels harder than running 5k. That's honestly why I have been working out in the afternoon / evening a lot this past year even though I do better in the morning usually — if I've already been out and about for hours I find it easier to get motivated for a workout, but if it's the first thing in the morning then I keep putting it off.

Anyway some tips that may or may not help:

Just get some fresh air. Walk to a window, a balcony is excellent if you have it, if you're on the ground floor then just step outside. Close your eyes and breathe. It's a nice reminded that there's a whole world outside and you just have to lace up your shoes

Find a fun / low effort exercise routine you can do in your bedroom in your pajamas, just to get a move on. Like one of those music video choreography dance routines. A 10 minutes yoga flow on a mat. A door-mounted pull-up bar. Personally, I love this 5 mins mobility routine. I don't even break a sweat but it gets me moving!

Blast music! I have a playlist of songs that get me going and it's 300x easier to get ready while listening to it

If you're an audiobook / podcast person, have a designated audiobook you only listen to while you're working out. Believe me, it helps! I have some recs for good audiobooks if you want them.

Make it a reward system! Like, there's a pizza place right next to my gym. I can get a treat once I'm there, I don't even need to go INSIDE the gym I can just walk by with my gym bag and grab a slice. But then naturally once I'm outside the gym I end up working out before getting that pizza slice

Workout buddies if you have them! Or even just messaging your group chat that you're gonna do X for accountability

Don't think about tying up your shoes as the prelude to a workout, just think of it as tying up your shoes. Same for any other layers. You're not getting ready for anything, you're just taking it step by step <<<< This is what my therapist keeps saying. Unfortunately I'm a chromic overthinker but sometimes it works

IDK anon I hope these help! It's less about exercise and more about procrastination, unfortunately, and I'm soso bad at it so I completely understand — but ultimately IME it comes down to finding lifehacks that make you work best.

Queer books, day 31/30

Turns out I like writing about books in this format, but I read a lot more slowly than I write.

I asked on Mastodon for everyone's favorite romance novels with an NB character in them. Partly because I'm in the process of writing my own NB character and I wanted to see how other people had dealt with sex scenes (in the anatomic sense). Partly because I just wanted to see how anyone else conceptualized nonbinaryness*. That request led me to Sword Dance by AJ Demas. It only sort of answers my questions, but that's okay because it's amazing.

In an alternative version of the Mediterranean, Damiskos is an ex-soldier (now disabled) and current quartermaster who has been sent to visit an old friend (Nione) to secure a contract for fish sauce. At her house, he meets: a bunch of tedious philosophers led by Eurydemos (who seems to preach a very anti-alien, anti-LGBTQ agenda, and yet is writing poems for...), Varazda (a sword dancer and eunuch from Zash, another country in which Damiskos was once stationed and for which he harbors a deep affection), Varazda's "owner" Aristokles, and a few others. Quickly, Damiskos surmises that all is not as it seems--first, he foils an attempt on Varazda's life, and it becomes apparent that the relationship between Varazda and Aristokles may be a lie--in fact, they are conspiring to hide something far greater than the fact that Varazda is not actually a slave. Soon, Damiskos is teaming up with Varazda to solve a murder, then to avert a war and recapture Nione's villa from the philosophers. Oh, and falling in love.

Varazda is an interesting character. He (Damiskos's POV is the only one we get, and he uses male pronouns for him, although he says he thinks of himself as both male and female) was made a eunuch after his father lost a military engagement of some kind. He was then enslaved for a while, until he was sent to the Zashian embassy in Boukos, and then he was freed. This is obviously a major source of trauma, and Damiskos is in a unique place to appreciate that because of his time in Zash. As a result, Damiskos is extremely careful in their nascent relationship to let Varazda lead. Their relationship is very sweet in part because of this deference, and they deal with consent very well.

Key quote: (Varazda has been discussing how he doesn't always achieve an erection because of being a eunuch.)

Rather boldly, Damiskos said, "Want to see if we can make it happen again?" Varazda looked up in surprise. "What--right now?" "Yes, of course right now! Immortal gods. We're sitting on your bed, talking about how beautiful you are and whether or not you like sex--it's surprising I even need to say anything." "I am literally a eunuch, First Spear." After that they were both laughing...

As you might have guessed from the summary above, this is a world in which there is violence, homophobia/transphobia, and slavery, including sexual slavery. The implication, reading between the lines, is that in the world generally, same-sex couples aren't too uncommon, and it's just Eurydemos's students who have a problem with them. (Eurydemos and his students reminded me a bit of Socrates and Plato, but of course Plato doesn't care that much about same-sex relationships, c.f. that one story from Symposium that got turned into a song from Hedwig and the Angry Inch. But I've been privileged to hear some angry Jesse rants about Plato since doing the podcast, and it reminded me of that. Anyway, as Plato says a lot, philosophers with bad opinions were a dime a dozen back in Athens, so.) Also, warning for explicit on-page sex.

*: Is Varazda nonbinary or is he gender fluid? I don't know. At one point, he says, "I never really think of myself as a man, but most of the time I'm quite happy for other people to think of me that way." Elsewhere, he implies that he doesn't want to be neither male or female, so he tries to be both. Maybe genderfluid is a better word for him. Maybe he can't articulate exactly how he feels, because he's not speaking to Damiskos in his first language, or because there isn't a word for how he feels. Either way, I enjoyed the way the character was portrayed.

That's it. Lots of action/plot, a good amount of romance, very engaging, love the setting. 10/10, go read it.

So a fun thing about being asexual, is the amount of times you are told "Oh everyone is like that" or "Everyone goes through that sweetie"

For this ace week, I really want people to understand what that means to someone who is a teenager and the way people are doing things that literally make your gag reflexes activate.

Before I do, I've dealt with enough people who center their "normal" perspective of the world as the default, and use it to shield themselves from critical thinking and empathy. So while yes, being ace might be weird to you if you are not ace, for someone like myself who is ace this is the world I live in! It is what reality is for me and normal.

Anyway, there is something so horrifying and surreal to live in a world that hurls "everyone goes through that" anytime you try and talk about your experiences. Society's ultimate gaslight. My classmates are literally bragging about one-night stands, riding people, etc before they even know someone and the idea of just having sex with someone like that gives me the same feeling as nails on a chalkboard, and then I'm told "Oh everyone feels like that"

Now I'm going to assume they meant "Everyone can feel discomfort from sex for X reasons" However what I hear as a situationally sex-repulsed ace is "oh everyone feels like your body is trying to go inside out and ants are dancing on your skull and these people have sex like this anyway, in fact they enjoy it which also means they enjoy feeling like this"

Can you imagine how horrifying that is?!? You are told that despite the horrible repulsion that *everyone* feels they not only have sex but enjoy it? Then to not be an asshole, you have to come to terms that people are just like that, and you need to accept that they have this feeling of death but they just need sex so badly that they are willing to work past this horrible terrible feeling.

So yeah when I learned that ace was a thing, it helped out in a lot of ways for me.

(Also I want to mention, I'm demisexual, I enjoy sex under the right circumstances and I understand what kink is. I could see how some people would still not understand the weird twilight zone I lived in for a while cause "oh well some people enjoy things like that with sex so why would it be that hard for you to understand this?" I had hoped with some of the more eldrich descriptions I mustered at least a slight understanding that, this isn't like that. There is something so basic repulsed akin to the same pole of magnets trying to get away from each other. It's just this thing that feels beyond words wrong, and that everyone has that feeling and does it anyway)

82. Mile High by Liz Tomforde--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

MILE HIGH is the epitome of those romance books where they're a million hours long (in audiobook format) and even though everything seems like it's going well, there are still 10+ hours left in the book. My anxiety had a field day with that one and even though I was terrified, I really wanted to see these two get the happy ending they deserved.

I knew there was a lot of hype around MILE HIGH. In fact, I had convinced myself that I would probably not like it because sometimes hyped up things are just not for me. But I was very happy to find that I actually really, really enjoyed this. The chemistry between these two characters pulled me in, and their mature way of going through life together (save for a couple of instances) made me want to stay. Also, holy, that spice? Jaysus.

There's some pretty great conversations in this about self-worth and how we view ourselves and our bodies. Being someone who has always had a messy relationship with my body, this book was almost healing? The way the MMC talks to the FMC and helps her grow into a more genuinely confident woman was empowering. Even though he was that person who is really good at giving at advice but has a harder time retaining said advice for himself, this only made him more relatable as a person.

I loved the side characters and I'm salty that I didn't read their story before meeting them in this one. I also really loved how supportive they all were.

I enjoyed a lot of things about this book and save for some of the decisions made and admittedly, the length of the book, this was such a great and sexy read. I'm glad I gave it a shot! Now I need the sequel.

83. My Love Mix-Up! Vol. 3 by Wataru Hinekure (Writer) , Aruko (Illustrator) , Jan Cash (Translator)--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Okay, this was FREAKING CUTE. This volume had me kicking my feet in bed like an excited child. I'm so excited to see more of this relationship as it develops!

But I also loved seeing the best friends finally be more honest with each other. I'm excited, as well, to see that one relationship grow and change.

There was more honesty in this volume and more silly hijinks.

I can't say too much because spoilers LOL but I really liked how the characters were being called out for being scared to admit how they were feeling. I think everyone worked off each other really well.

84. Under Currents by Nora Roberts--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

UNDER CURRENTS started a bit differently than the past suspense books I've read by Nora Roberts and I think it was different mainly because it was from the POV of a MMC. It was also something that I could tell had some seriously dark undertones. And this book was DARK in that it dealt with a lot of physical abuse. It's not the darkest I've read, but it was still a bit surprising to see--which isn't a bad thing, it was almost slightly refreshing after I read a few of Robert's books.

I also liked that while this did have its similar formulaic outline as Roberts's past suspenseful romance novels, it deviated in some instances. That kept me on my toes, even though I could still kind of guess where the story was going.

What I will comment on is the fact that there was so much random kissing others on their lips? Like, not couples. Just like, an old ex gf who is married kissing her childhood dance date on the lips "lightly" as a platonic thing, or the FMC kissing a teen boy in "thanks" "lightly" on the lips. LOL why was there so much random light kissing on others' lips? It was weird LOL.

Anyway, another fun romantic suspense novel! Will hopefully pick up another Roberts book in the near future!

85. Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! by Yuu Toyota--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Okay, I really enjoyed CHERRY MAGIC! even if it gave me severe secondhand embarrassment LOL. I was screeching and giggling as I read the dirty thoughts going through the love interest's mind. I especially related to how the MC notices how different thoughts can be from the look on a person's face. It's so easy to hide what you're thinking because your brain and the privacy of your thoughts is that one part of you that truly belongs to you.

I like this concept and I'm excited to see how these two characters get on. Have I already ordered the next three volumes? Maybe...

86. Ready or Not by Cara Bastone--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

READY OR NOT was so much more than I was anticipating. I already loved this trope, but the way Cara Bastone explored this topic and the relationships surrounding the protagonist and her friends and love interest was done so well.

While this was definitely about the pregnancy the MC experiencing from the very beginning of the book, READY OR NOT was more about the characters and how all relationships have various levels to them. Also, how a pregnant woman is sometimes viewed by society--especially one that doesn't fit to the societal norm of how a pregnant woman should present herself and her "situation".

I know that some might view some of the situations as idealistic, I mean this is a fiction novel--the characters get to have idealistic outcomes sometimes. I loved the level of communication between everyone, the MC's level of maturity but also self-awareness. I loved her over-the-top energy levels and how she herself had some pretty big character growth moments.

I also listened to the audiobook of READY OR NOT and phew, that narrator was GREAT. She fully committed to the role and gave the MC so much personality. Also, the smuttier scenes will have you blushing. There weren't a lot of those, but the ones we got were definitely worth the wait after the building of anticipation.

This was just such a pleasant read and I think it's one of those drama-free books that will leave many readers happy and surprised.

bro this sounds cocky but a few things, i love them all equally so i'll list them:

my over 70,000 word novel that i've written with one of my best friends

my skateboard, which i spent hours designing the back of, i used posca paint pens to create a comic strip design with a custom character i created!

one of my first and fav kpop album redesigns...i was so excited and happy w how it turned out!!

have you ever saved someone's life?

sort of, in a way. one of my old friends (she now goes to a new school and we don't talk as much anymore) had pots, which is an illness that causes unprovoked fainting/seizures. she would faint, and be unconcious for up to 20mins, and sometimes would have seizures after fainting. other times, she would have times where she would faint multiple times, but only be unconcious for less than a minute, but would faint frequently (maybe 5-10 in an hour). because she was in our class, i did feel a lot of responsibility for looking after her. the teachers knew to call the nurse and the ambulance during her long faints/seizures, and i would go with my friend to show the ambulance where to go. we got so used to running to the school office that i swear our cardio skills built up. we have dealt with one of her faints outside of school too though, without any adult support, which was much scarier, but we managed ok. so i think a bit?

what's your favourite piece of clothing you own?

again, cannot choose. my wardrobe is my baby; she is a collection that is never ending and eclectic and so, so me. she's what i spend most of my money on (other than kpop concerts) and i love her sm.

It's just that lots of different ideas keep hitting me and my brain wants me to incorporate all of them lol

As requested, some tidbits:

Charlie's niece's full name is Isabelle Waters-Nowak.

Charlie has five aunts/uncles on his father's side (Simon, Greg, Jane, Mary Claire, Frances) and only one uncle (Graham) on his mother's side. He's closest with Graham because his grandfather (Ingrid and Graham's dad, Benjamin) lived with them for a little while and Graham would often come over to visit them all.

Charlie has eleven cousins, all on Trevor's side; Lucy*, Frank, and Gina (Jane's kids), Stephanie and May (Mary Claire's kids), Tara and Gray (Simon's kids), and Katie, Philip, Jessica, and Nathaniel (Greg's kids). Charlie is the oldest out of all them with, with about six years between him and the next-eldest. (*Not the same Lucy as Lucyverse.)

Madelyn never legally changed Shayne's name to Devine, but even after he finds this out from Ryan, he decides to keep the name anyway.

Shayne continues getting motion sick on public transport, which he has to deal with a lot when Felix is travelling abroad and he has to take the bus to get to the nursing home to see Trish.

Rin doesn't get along with Autumn when Claudette first introduces them. They don't actively hate each other or argue a lot, but neither of them can get a good read on the other. Rin also feels a bit envious over how close Claudette and Autumn are, and how long they've known each other. Deep down, she resents the fact that she's had to abandon 90% of the friendships she's put time and effort into over the past ten years, because they all turned out to be toxic.

As well as spending time with the Pride Society, Rin takes up roller skating and hip hop dancing in college.

Elliott starts writing a detective novel in his free time. He's too embarrassed to let anyone read it as a work-in-progress, but he finds the process therapeutic. He bases a lot of his characters off of people he knew in the past.

Elliott thinks a lot about cutting off and donating his hair, especially when summer arrives.

Elliott used to ride a motorbike before he and Felix started dating. He once brought his bike and "kidnapped" Shayne from school once, while Ryan was visiting Madelyn. They went to a forest (not Mulberry), Elliott did some hunting, and they just kind of hung out. It was one of the last times they saw each other before losing contact for a few years.

(I've been trying to think of something for Felix but the guy wears his heart on his sleeve and I can't think of anything hidden or secret about him right now lol)

CW: mention of disordered eating and body dysmorphia past this point.

Mitsuko has dealt with disordered eating her whole life, in so small part due to her older sister's attitude towards food and appearance. She's been doing well for a while before she meets Bastian.

Mitsuko very often experiences body dysmorphia though, which Bastian thinks is just her messing around when they first start hanging out, but he eventually realises she believes the things she says about herself and it just breaks his heart.

Bastian is covered in tattoos. Some of them have religious symbolism, because he chose them at a time in his life where religion was a big deal, and while he isn't sure he believes in them anymore, he still accepts them as part of who he is. Physically, at least.

Mitsuko loves roller coasters. Bastian hates them because they make him feel so sick. But he's a sucker for her, so he goes on them anyway.

Bastian finds it hard to be civilised around Yumi, knowing how bad she makes Mitsuko feels about food and her body, and it's been the cause of arguments (between him and Mitsuko) on several occasions.

After he eventually finds out that Mitsuko can shift into wolf form, he gives her the pet name "Puppy", which she hates* (i.e. *gets very flustered by and feels very cute afterwards).

I grew up in an abusive home and I have a trauma therapist which has helped a lot, but I’ve never met anyone else who can relate, so it can feel really lonely when everyone else has a family except for you. I feel so badly about myself that I’ve never achieved anything great, but I’m trying hard to build some self-esteem so I can make something of myself. It seems like you’ve achieved so much, and I really admire how ambitious you are, so I wanted to see if you had any snippets of advice ❤️ I’m sorry this is so long and if you’re uncomfortable with answering then no problem! i'm so so sorry to hear about everything you have been through, that sounds incredibly hard. unfortunately, my trauma does not come from necessarily my family, so I cannot even begin to understand how hard it must have been on you growing up in such tough conditions, and I am so sorry. I hope the therapist is understanding and helpful and is able to guide you in the best way possible.

don't ever say that you've never achieved anything great. baby, what i've learnt is that being alive, in today's day and age, in the horrible world we live in, finding the courage and strength to get up in the morning is an achievement in itself. i know it's hard to look internally and judge ourselves fairly. we will always be our harshest critics and our biggest enemies. i find myself in the same boat, and I always think I have not achieved enough, that there are better people than me who are more successful and much younger, but I try to remember that we all have our journey, and although our journey may not look like other people's, it doesn't make it less meaningful or less impactful.

it takes a while to find your footing in this world, and to find the people to help you along the way, and I think my advice is as simple as... just keep going. (tw for depression, suicidal thoughts). I have dealt with depression and suicidal tendencies since I was 13. I wanted to end my life many times, and there have been so many times where life seemed too harsh, too unfair, too difficult to see any light in it, but I promise that there is! And this world, as horrible as it is, is also beautiful, and this life worth living.

I think the best thing you could do for yourself is continue going to therapy, try to find healthy coping mechanisms (mine was/is again writing, dancing, hyperfixating on silly little shows or movies or games, drawing, i knit for a while, i swim now, i am basically learning how to take my childhood back after it was taken from me and enjoying things I would have back then, it's extremely satisfying and therapeutic, i promise!), and talk to people, let it all out. Learn to own what happened and not let it have power over you or consume you. I did that for a long time - i was embarrassed about my past, and what i went through, i was scared to talk about it and afraid that i would be judged. i am not anymore. my past is my past, and it shaped me, but it doesn't define me anymore. I get to choose who I am and who I want to be moving forward, and once I realised that, everything got a lot better.

Okay so my impressions of yellowjackets:

the show is cool but Idk it's kind of getting all over the place. I thought the outcome to the cheating and murder plots was too easy and underwhelming. I like the mystery is still a thing with regards to who was really doing the blackmailing and for what reasons, the Lottie twist was a nice surprise.

Jackie was right though when she said it was all so cliche. A lot of the show isn't as "subversive" as I've seen fans talk about. The archetypes of girlhood are all there and they're challenged in ways that have all been done before. To me this is the most glaring in how Jackie and Shauna were reduced to "the sidekick is jealous of the bitchy popular best friend". But also in Natalie being the 'outcast with a heart of gold' or Misty being the bullied weird girl that's actually a sociopath. Or even the black girl being a "girlboss". It doesn't feel like it's subverting anything when these are all staple tropes of tv culture. Or at least have become in the last years.

Jackie's 'turn' from being an emotionally intelligent and competent leader to useless and uncooperative felt like a big stretch to me. Her death was also kinda stupid and made them all look bad for being so angry at her over stupid stuff when they had just learned Shauna was the big cheater.

The last episodes dealt with such bizarre plot developments and solutions where the adult characters behaved like dumb teenagers caring about high school dances that for a while it felt like I was watching glorified Riverdale. The slow motion entrance was cringe-inducing, I'm sorry, this is not the early 2010s. I understand why the reunion party was there but it wasn't used wisely, imo.

But anyway, I liked that the mystery is still alive by the end and I'm excited to see what comes of it, especially now knowing Lottie is alive because she became one of my favorites.

moon/neptune is an empath placement so you have to be careful with who you let into your space as u can soak in their energy at times.

try to connect with nature more often and allow yourself to cleanse ur energy daily so that you wont have those drainage feeling.

venus connecting to these placements does show a person who can people please but what i must say is that people pleasing isnt the problem. your need to be liked is.

try focusing on yourself and having boundaries and the right energy will come along. sometimes all we need to say is no, dont let people take from you if they arent willing to reciprocate.

November 13, 23 continued...

I've been hanging out with Shane more, I definitely need to keep my boundaries up with him. He's super genuine and sweet, really does show that he cares and actively keeps an interest which is really nice but sometimes just a little too much for me. We've got a couple plans over the months but I definitely need to keep those boundaries in place. I've hung out with Connor a few times now, we went for a nice bike ride for the first time after my birthday. I connected with him on FB dating like two ish years ago but we never met up or really continued talking and then we went for a bike ride & had a nice chat. He came out with Amber & I for halloween too, which he was a champ about coming out with someone he's never met, me who he met once, going to a random persons house haha, but it was pretty fun and as much as he can be a bit quieter, he's been opening up a lot more. I went over last week to watch a hockey game & hot tub with him and that was a nice evening, we talked a lot about exes and narcissistic issues we've dealt with too, he can definitely be a talker which is nice, he's definitely opening up a lot more. He really seems like a nice guy, again just keeping it casual getting to know each other. Jeremiah has been weird lately. I thought it was because Zack made things uncomfortable which im sure is a big contributing factor, but still idk. We were hanging out a lot and connected a lot over the summer and then when Zack joined the Ranchmans dance night I definitely think he rubbed everyone wrong, then I think I had a games night a few days later which again wasn't great, and then a few weeks later when Amber did my surprise birthday gathering he definitely didn't jive with Zack which again I totally get, I apologized to Jer after but it hasn't been the same. He hasn't asked to hang out like once... & I think Amanda kind of initiated the last movie night that just happened last friday which was good but yah idk, just back to feeling like I'm just his dog watcher friend which sucks. He had asked about christmas holiday and I got back to him and he texted again this morning about this week and it's like ok it would be nice to actually hang out and not just feel like I'm a free dog watcher ya know? Kinda just went back to like the earlier start of our friendship again so idk, I guess we'll see. Daniel - whom was Jer's friend we met at Jers birthday gathering this summer, we've been chatting back & forth for some months and then it was his birthday last month or some weeks ago & Amber & I stopped by which was nice, Troy was there whom i've met once before, would love to meet him again haha... anyways, had some good chats with Daniel and then I ended up going with him to his church the weekend prior which was really good. He's super nice and very extraverted so it's nice to chat with him, though I do feel very young to him, hes 9 years older, just turned 38 so I feel a bit kid-ish but we're going to get together & hang out sometime soon which should be nice, he's a genuine dude and christian which is very nice. Trying to think what else. Relationship with Steven & amanda is still great obviously, though still haven't reconnected with Melissa. It's been like 4 months now which is painful. Drama free but painful. I was really triggered and hurt when she gave me cold response after sending her photos from NYC and just felt super hypocritical. Just that whole situation honest rubs me so wrong and gives me the ick of what happened and how s he handled everything, like makes me just not want to be around her but idk. Her birthday is this week & of course as I'm always the bigger person, I'll say happy birthday even though she didn't to me, again just another jab. Idk it's still a fresh wound.

"Love comes in many forms, Lucas." - Floyd continued to watch Rayman and Raymona continue their duet and dance together. - "It isn't always about romance. There's also the love you have for your friends, and the love you have for your family. It's what binds us all. This group we have included."

*When their duet ends, everyone began standing. Lots of clapping and cheering for the two! Rayman and Raymona both started waving to the applauding crowds, but soon everything fell silent as Hoyt stood up and began to clap. He gave a cold chuckle as he began approaching the stage. Rayman pulls Raymona close to him as Hoyt started to advance on them.*

"Well, Mister Rayman, That was quite a show you put on with Mona Lisa. I'm surprised you would be so bold. Do you not care about what your superiors think? She is a nobody. Not to be trusted. Yet here you are. Do you not care what will become of your image?"

*Rayman grew a proud smirk on his face. He continued to hold Raymona close as he slowly backed up with her. - "Hoyt? I've dealt with far more dangerous people compared to you. What is there for me to hide, anyway? Look at everyone here. Did you not see them at the very edge of their seats? It's quite obvious at this point. Do you want me to just admit it in front of everyone? Is that what you want?" - Rayman takes hold of Raymona's mic and kept his smug smile as he began announcing to the whole crowd -

"I love Mona Lisa!"

*The entire crowd erupted into cheers and claps. Hoyt realized he couldn't intimidate Rayman this way. Suddenly, the crime boss draws a knife and swings it at Rayman before throwing himself on top of the limbless man. A fight had broken out and crowds of people began fleeing the club. Lucas ends up finding himself separated from Floyd and Murfy in the crowds, but Lucas could hear Bullfrog calling out to him. Lucas was close to the club's exit. He could either go find Bullfrog, or leave the club and wait outside.*

Oh. A bad feeling? God, hopefully nothing bad will happen. If something does, then Lucas is sure they could all handle it together. It'll be easily fixed, nothing to worry about. The boy opens his mouth to respond, but then the curtain opens, revealing his mother on the stage. The reaction from his father made him chuckle, smiling widely. Soon, the couple interacted, causing Lucas to laugh some more, but out of adoration, simply because they were so perfect together.

Lucas gave Rayman the go ahead to go on stage, telling him everything would be alright. His uncles came over to confirm everything would be alright, Lucas thanking them for Rayman being able to be by Raymona's side, knowing the boy is safe.

The singing is so beautiful. Watching the couple dance made him so happy, too. Lucas has stars in his eyes, head on his hands on the table as he is overjoyed at the scene before him.

"Man, it's great to see them like this. They both deserve this. To be happy. I'm so happy they get to share their happiness. You can tell they love each other, like nothing else matters in the world but each other. Sigh, romance isn't so bad when you see them. Both of you, too, Floyd. Heh!"

During the scene, Lucas would take in some more water from his glass, happily listening to the music.
