Wait, what’s going on with Embers???? That fic has been on my read later list since 2021, what’s happened with it???
Brief overview, then I'm likely never touching this topic again, because this is not a Drama Blog:
Context: Embers is a super old AtLA fic that was written during the early fandom days, read widely at the time, and was the origin of the widely-used fanon name of "Wani" for Zuko's ship (kind of by default that it was one of the first popular fics to give his ship a name, I think?), even though most fic writers don't seem to realize it's from there anymore.
"What's Going On": I used to include a link in all my stories to it, because I believe in crediting other writers for borrowed elements, and I was using "Wani" in all my fics. But BOY did I not want to be sending readers that way anymore, so I've adopted a new name for Zuko's ship, and removed all Embers links.
None of the criticisms about Embers itself are new; I'm assuming they date back to when the fic was being written, because this isn't an "it aged badly" thing, this is an "actually yeah this gets worse the longer you think about it and I shouldn't have ignored my bad feelings just because some of the worldbuilding was interesting" thing.
An Incomplete List of Why I Made the Change:
I don't actually like the story that much anymore, and don't want to rec it
I tried to re-read it recently to see if some things were as bad as I remembered and it turns out they were So Much Worse Oh Yikes. More specifically, the treatment of Katara and Aang and their respective cultures has... rather a lot going on. One example: The Fire Nation and Air Nomads are both given multiple backstory elements in an attempt to make the average Fire Nation soldier's participation in the genocide/war in large part the fault of the Avatar and the Air Nomads themselves, and also fully justified from the Fire Nation perspective. And I do mean fully. One of its core tenants is "People from the Fire Nation (and only people from the Fire Nation) who don't follow orders Literally Die, therefore murdering pacifists and babies and continuing the war (and their regularly scheduled war crimes) is the only thing it is physically possible for them to do". I cannot emphasize enough how literal that is.
Also the name "Wani" means "Alligator" and is... objectively a pretty lame name for Zuko's ship? Where's the personality, where's the deeper meaning, where's the resonance with Zuko's themes? @tuktukpodfics initially thought I was calling the ship "Wanyi", and that's what I've switched to, because it is Objectively So Much Better. In their words: “Wànyī (萬一): Literally ‘one in ten thousand,’ ‘perchance.’ Used grammatically in Chinese to mean ‘what if’ or ‘just in case.’ I think a ship called ‘The Perchance’ is perfect for a boy clinging to false hope.”
TL:DR; I don't rec Embers anymore, because I don't actually like the story anymore, and there are things about it that get worse the more I think on them. I've removed links to it and renamed Zuko's ship to "Wanyi" ("The Perchance") because our boy deserves a ship name that reflects his character arc.

I have a question. When the drivers do the fan stages before a race, F1 usually has two teams go at the same time (for example, I’ve seen Alpine and Ferrari go together before). Why don’t Ferrari and Red Bull ever go together?
Can you imagine Charles and Max on the stage together. Laughing when asked silly questions or blushing when they look at each other.
Lestappen interacting during a fan stage would be simply lovely. 😊

I can't stop thinking about the post from a few days ago about how Critical Role has been great at doing personal faith but didn't put the necessary work in to discuss the religious/god angle of c3 in-depth. Like the fact that Cardinal Respa was linked to both the Dawnfather and the Chained Oblivion is, on a personal level, very interesting (fallen/corrupted priest goes hard) but like does that mean that there's a Papacy somewhere in Exandria dedicated to the Dawnfather? If so, are there more cardinals who ordain the bishops of the Dawnfather? Are there Conclave-level intrigues going on in the Dawnfather's Sistine Chapel? Why is the Dawnfather so Christianity-coded in vibes alone if there's no actual outline of his religious organisations? With Downfall the Dawnchild/Dawnfather thing makes the allusions to Christ as Son of God co-existing with the Father textual - was there a Dawnfather Schism around whether the Dawnchild was a separate mortal? Was there a Reformation about how the Dawnfather's Pope kept selling indulgences? Is that why the priest of the Dawnfather Grog & Pike offer a drink to doesn't partake because of a cultural shift between Protestant-Temperance-League-coded and Catholic-coded Dawnfather congregations? Why do I have so many questions about the religious organisation of one of the most important Prime Deities in Exandria and to Critical Role's 3 campaigns? How on earth were the cast (and us as the viewers!) meant to care about the gods if all they had were "really tall kings" instead of interrogating how religious organisations provide both a place of healing and community to a wide range of people and also a place of horrific harm and abuse for a wide range of people?
#cr meta#cr discourse#critical role#it's just. maddening#i mean a college of cardinals who can all shoot god a quick dm and ask who's the best for pope is an absolutely hilarious image#makes for a great comedic setpiece tbh#but like seriously matt if your whole multi-campaign story needs people to have strong feelings about the gods beyond how they personally#affected them (keyleth vex and ashton come to mind as people who were negatively affected by certain gods due to personal reasons)#it might be a good idea to develop the religious organisations of these gods! let people see how these things work out instead of letting a#vibes-based approach to christianity rule the whole discussion! kord's whole deal about strong people is fascinating! are his priests all#body builders? do they have a central hierarchy based on strength? we don't know!#are the wildmother's clergy pro- or anti-alcohol? does she even have a clergy?#or are all the religious temples we have seen just set dressing because religious buildings in the real world just have cool designs?#is it because in fantasy the trope is that most protagonists don't care about religion and their temples are literally there for vibes?#i'm aware i'm getting way too close to stan-parasociality on that last point but if we have a cardinal “do we have a pope” is a logical#follow-up question. i'm aware there's not that much info in the campaign guides so that gms can do their own thing but in the#“the gods deserve to be eaten because they were mean to me” campaign surely a more interesting line would be “do the gods deserve us if#their organisations cause systemic harm as was done to bor'dor and........"#can you tell i don't want to do any actual work today. i sure can't#and yes i'm main-tagging this if people are hostile to me on the internet for this buddy there's a phenomenal button i'd like you to meet

Hello!
I just wanted to stop by to say how much I love your fics, especially "Beyond the Eight Ball" and "Deepest Desires", they're really good. And one of the things I really like about your writing style is your world-building and how you explain how that world works in each AU. You pull the reader into the story without overdoing it, so they can really imagine what you're describing without feeling like a student in a boring lecture.
Do you have any writing advice? Or, if it's not too personal, what would you say is the most difficult thing for you when writing? In my case, when I want to write an important scene that I've already imagined, I find it especially difficult when there's a particular character involved, either because I don't know them well or because I don't like them, but they're important to the story, so I can't change them.
I hope you're having and continue to have a good day. And like I said, your fics are great. I'm really interested to see what Vox (and Lucifer) and Adam do with Alastor in their respective fics.
Thank you so much (;´༎ຶД༎ຶ`) I reaaalllly love world-building haha XD it's one of my favorite parts of writing new fics/au's.
Oh, I have tons of writing advice! (Been accumlating it for years now XD) You said you like how I explain the world without over-doing it in the story, so I'll start with that!
Here's you're warning now: This is gonna be a looooong post XD
Let's begin!
When it comes to world-building, it's hard to not dump everything you've brainstormed and written into the first chapter--whether it's because you love your world-building and and you're super proud of it, or because you want to make sure the reader understands the world you're introducing them to.
So the advice I'd give about introducing the world to the reader is this: don't be afraid to keep your audience guessing.
By that I mean, introduce the world to your audience slowly. You don't have to rush getting all the details and rules out immediately. In fact, sprinkling them in throughout the chapter will make your writing a lot more engaging and fun to read.
Don't worry about your audience not knowing how the world works, because that's what's going to keep them intrigued.
That doesn't mean to keep them in the dark and never explain anything, but give them pieces of it. Let them form questions about the world. Let them ponder and guess. That's what's going to keep them reading because they're going to want to stick around and find out.
Using "Deepest Desires" (<- fic link for anyone interested) as an example, in the first chapter I didn't have Alastor immediately or outright tell the audience anything about his secondary or any of the other secondaries in the room, because info-dumping all of that outright feels--like you said--being a student sitting through to a boring lecture. It's not engaging. It's a wall of information that's not only getting blasted at you at once, but it's not usually integrated in a natural way.
No character is thinking about all of the exact rules and details of their world while their getting dressed or going to breakfast. They're probably thinking about the things they have planned that day, or if they feel eating cereal or eggs.
In fact, there are times when purposefully leaving information out is better, especially when you're writing fanfic.
I didn't go deep into alphas/betas/omegas right away, because I already tagged my fic as "omegaverse" and anyone who's been in fandom for a while will know exactly what that means. Most omegaverse's follow the same general formula:
alpha's are dominant and aggressive.
omega's are submissive and desirable.
Beta's are...well, I guess they're kinda just the middle-men. The center of a spectrum with the alpha's and omegas on opposite ends of each other.
These are details my audience already assumes will be in the fic, so it's not something I need to highlight.
Here's the first paragraph of "Deepest Desires"
Alastor didn’t realize he was going into heat until he complimented Charlie’s battle plan. He blamed his lack of awareness on the scents slowly filling the old, dusty study Vaggie had refurbished as a war room. They hung in the air as thick and sticky as swamp fog, clinging to his skin like a balmy film. He distracted himself from physically shaking off their pheromones by inhaling the earthy aroma of his tea.
Even if I didn't have Alastor tagged as an omega, the audience can easily assume he is one given that he has heats.
I also bring up scents and pheromones without Alastor outright stating that scents and pheromones can be distracting because they're potent, are based on people's emotions, and he's highly sensitive to them because of his heat (the latter being something you find out later on in the fic).
You're not reading it out of a textbook. You're given this information in a natural way that doesn't feel like you're being spoon-fed. Alastor blames his unawareness on how thick the scents in the air are, to the point it feels like they're clinging to him, which he immediately tries to rectify off by breathing in the smell of his tea.
The signs of Alastor's incoming heat isn't brought up again until 9-10 paragraphs later. And then again after another 9 paragraphs. The details of this omegaverse AU are sprinkled throughout the story. It's woven into the fic through the characters thoughts, interactions, and emotions.
Alastor's not explaining the world, he's living in it.
We're not being told how it works, we're experiencing it through him.
The audience isn't told that Alastor's heat makes him act on the desires of other's, instead they see him interacting with character's in ways he normally wouldn't and then immediately trying to distance himself from them.
The audience isn't outright told that Alastor prioritizes his privacy to an obsessive degree because he can't allow anyone to pick up his scent, they're shown that he only pretends to use the hotel room he was given, that he actually lives in a secret pocket-dimension that's impossible for anyone to find but him, that the only scent in that pocket-dimension is his own, and a vague emphasizes that it needs to be that way.
All in all, it comes down to the tried and true: Show, don't tell.
Don't tell us about the world you've created, show us through the actions, interactions, behaviors, thoughts, and emotions of the characters. It makes the world fill lived in, and not like the author is just ticking off a bunch of works for a world-building/AU checklist.
Of course, there are times when telling works better, like in "Beyond the Eight Ball." (<- fic link)
Normally, I'd use a character interacting with their environment to describe the setting, and their emotions and interactions with other characters to build the world, but in the case of "BtEB" laying out how different Pentagram City had changed, all at once, worked better for the narrative because the audience was supposed to be just as surprised as Alastor was.
Here's an excerpt of that scene:
Pentagram City was gone. Or, the Pentagram City Alastor lived in was gone. The haggard buildings and barbed-wire fences that once made up the Downtown District were overtaken by an agglomeration of tall, irradiating skyscrapers.  Some were high enough to disappear into a canopy of clouds so heavy and bloated they looked in danger of popping themselves on the closest spire. But where they’d usually be a mixture of yellow, brown, and maroon, they were a melting pot of blacks, purples, and pinks, stirred by the myriad of lights pulsing beneath them.  The streets, while normally teeming with sinners, were now completely swollen with thick, milling crowds. Cars were stuck bumper to bumper on the road, horns bellowing while their drivers leaned out of their windows to yell at the people in front of them. Billboards and jumbotrons flashed in every direction, stuck to the sides of buildings, above stop-lights, and on giant, metal structures that lined the edge of the district in a wall of advertisements, newscasts, talks-shows, and logos. There was so much overlapping Alastor couldn’t even tell what they were saying.
In this case, you're getting a barrage of description, but that's because Alastor (the character we're following) is the one who'd been plopped into a Pentagram City that is so massively different that all he can do is stare.
Later, the story goes into more detail about how changed the world is as Alastor explores the new city. We're seeing it all through his eyes, and not being told by an outside force (the author).
It all comes down to the scene and how the character acts/reacts during it, and what it is you--the author--is trying to convey.
TLDR: The best way to introduce your world/world-building is by having your characters interact with it, and don't be scared to sprinkle it in. Allow your readers to form questions. Give them room to be curious, because that curiosity is what keeps them interested.
I'd say the most difficult thing for me while writing is descriptions.
Specifically, describing enviroments.
Ugh, it kills me every time. I have such a hard time describing the way a room looks without it feeling info-dumpy.
But I've found that having the character interact with the room is a great way to help describe it. Instead of saying that the room was dusty, I have the character drag their finger through a layer of dust coating the dresser. Instead of saying the room smelled, I say the character's nose curled when they passed a pile of dirty laundry, or that they fanned the air to get rid of the stench of uneaten, moldy food sitting on the desk. Instead of saying the room is cold, I describe the character shivering and rubbing their arms up and down before walking across the room to shut the window.
Having the characters interact with the room also makes it more engaging to read. And, of course, don't forget to use the 5 senses! Taste, touch, sight, smell, and sound.
And, yeah, I totally get having a hard time writing characters I'm not especially interested in, or know much about.
For that I'd say, make them interesting. Give them flair! They're part of the story for a reason, so their presence has to mean something.
One of the best ways I flesh out characters is by asking questions:
What is the role in the story? Antagonist? Protagonist? Love interest? Side-character?
How important are they to the story? Do they have a huge impact on the events of the story? Or are the a character that just pops in here and there?
What's their backstory? What do they think of themselves? Do they think they're hot shit? Are they insecure? Do they over-compensate? Are they shy? Arrogant? Brash? Timid? And how does all of that impact how they interact with other people?
And, most importantly, the 3Q's (especially in regards to their role in the story):
What does the character want?
Why does the character want this?
What's getting in the way of them getting it?
Using "Just Kiss Already" as an example.
What does Alastor want?
To get rid of the holy energy infecting his body.
2. Why does Alastor want this?
Because the holy energy puts him in constant pain and it's preventing him from using his demonic abilities, which leaves him in a very exposed, and very vulnerable position.
3. What's getting in the way of Alastor achieving this?
Lucifer is the only one who can heal him, but Alastor doesn't trust him, is insecure by just how powerful Lucifer is compared to him (especially due to his current injury) and it too stubborn to ask for help, and thus would rather figure out how to heal himself on his own. But, despite not trusting Lucifer, he's still the only person who can keep Alastor's enemies away, so he concocts a fake-dating plan with Lucifer to keep them off his back, despite having a lot of baggage around relationships, and underestimating how much that might bleed into his latest scheme.
On the flip side, Lucifer:
What does Lucifer want?
To reconnect with Charlie and heal their broken relationship.
2. Why does Lucifer want this?
Because he's lonely, he loves Charlie and wants to be close with her again.
3. What's getting in the way of Lucifer achieving this?
He overcompensates and can't stop seeing Charlie as his "little girl" rather than the full-grown adult that she is. He's awkward and overcompensates when he's with her, which makes Charlie uncomfortable, but gets very jealous and insecure when Alastor fills one of his "fatherly roles," especially when Alastor's advice/help is well received by Charlie. The Charlie he remembers is a framed picture of a little girl hanging in his work-room, and he doesn't know how to connect with this new, grown Charlie who doesn't need her problems solved, just wants his support for her dream to rehabilitate sinners that he doesn't even think highly of--all the while agreeing to a fake-dating scheme with Alastor, his biggest pain in the ass, out of a sense of obligation for Alastor getting hurt on behalf of Charlie's hotel-but also keep an eye on Alastor and make sure he doesn't do anything to hurt Charlie.
I also recommend rewatching the character's scenes to get a feel for their mannerisms and how they interact with the other characters. Sometimes the hardest part of writing a character and hashing out their personality is figuring out how they mesh with the rest of the characters.
Don't shy away from their flaws or insecurities either, even for your fav character (especially when it comes to your fav character). Let them be raw and real. Let them fail. Give them consequences to their actions. Let them get hurt.
Then pick them back up again and let them heal. Let them achieve their goal. And let them grow as a character.
I hope this helped!
Haha I have a lot of writing advice tumbling around in my head--whether it works or not is up to you LMAO. If you have any other questions, let me know! I enjoy talking about my writing process, and it reminds me of certain things I still need to work on too.
If there are a bunch of grammar or spelling mistakes in this, I'm sorry. I was going to read through it, but I wanna go draw now, so I'm gonna do that instead.
Thank you for the ask! I'm so happy you're enjoying my fics >.<
If anyone has their own writing advice they want to share, drop it below!
And, of course, I do have a handful of writing resources in my Masterpost <- right here! From using the 5 senses (like how to describe a smile in different ways), general writing help (writing action scenes and describing environments), and miscellaneous topics (like the burning points of different fabrics and why casinos are designed to make people spend more!) Anything new and helpful I find, I add to my Masterpost--especially when it comes to writing Hazbin fics!

i feel like im not making any sense but does anyone else feel like there are stories that let u run with them and ones that spell everything out for you
#im reading that post that says artists are directors of audience reaction and not its dictator:#'you cannot guarantee that everyone viewing your work will react as you are trying t make them react. a good artist knows that this is what#allows work to breath. by definition you cannot have art where the viewer brings nothing to the table ... this is why you have to let go of#the urge to plainly state in text exactly how you think the work should be interpreted ... its better to be misinterpreted sometimes than#to talk down to your audience. you wont even gain any control that way; people will still develop their opinions no matter what you do#im thinking abt this again cuz i was thinking maybe the thing that lets adventure time work so well the way it does is cuz it doesnt#take itself too seriously that it gives the audience enough room to fuck with subtext and then fuck with them back yknow. i think it was#mentioned somewhere that they werent even planning to run with the postapocalyptic elements that are hinted in the show but changed their#mind after the one off with the frozen businessmen and dominoed into marcy and simons backstory. on the other side there are stories that#explain too much to let the story speak for itself and i think it ends up having to do more with the crew trying to lead ppl in a certain#direction than expand on what they have and i see a lot of this with miraculous. like when interviews and tweets are used as word of god in#arguments and it becomes a little stifling to play around with it knowing the creator can just interject. u can say its the crews effort to#engage with its audience but it feels more like micromanaging. and none of this is to say there ISNT room for stories that spell things out#theyre just suited for different things. if sesame street tried abstract approaches to themes and nuance itd be counterproductive#a lot of things fly over my head so i need help picking things apart to get it- but it doesnt have to be from the story itself. ive picked#picked up or built on my own interpretations listening to other ppl share their thoughts which creates conversation around the same thing#sometimes stories will spell things out for you without being so obvious abt it that it feels like its woven into the text. my fav example#for this might be ATLA using younger characters as its main cast but instead of feeling like its dumbed down for kids to understand why war#is bad its framed from a childs point of view so younger audiences can pick up on it by relating to the characters. maybe an 8 year old#wont get how geopolitics works but at least they get 'hey the world is a little more complicated than everyone vs. fire nation'. same for#steven universe bc its like theyre trying to describe and put feelings into words that kids might not have so they have smth to start with#especially with the metaphors around relationships bc even if it looks unfamiliar as a kid now maybe the hope is for it to be smth you can#look back to. thats why it feels like these shows grew up with me.. instead of saving difficult topics for 'when im ready for it'#as if its preparing me for high school it gave me smth to turn in my hands and revisit again and again as i grow. stories that never#treated u as dumb all along. just someone who could learn and come back to it as many times as u need to. i loved SU for the longest time#but i felt guilty for enjoying it hearing the way ppl bash it. bc i was a kid and thought other ppl understood it better than me and made#feel bad for leaning into the message of paying forward kindness and not questioning why steven didnt punish the diamonds or hold them#accountable. but im rewatching it now and going oh. i still love this show and what it was trying to teach me#yapping#diary

SD Gundam Gaiden NEO: The Forbidden Magic - The Dragon's Priestess Notes
Tumblr media
The original write up of the story for this arc is by earthofhomozu on Instagram. I just translated them and adapted it into English.
Complete Card Art in High Quality can be found here.
As you can tell, the design basis for this series is the series Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. It also happened to be released at the 35th anniversary of SD Gundam Gaiden so you do you.
It'll be long so I'm putting it under a cut.
Tumblr media
The curtain rises in a world completely different from the Saddrac world, Llion Cardzi, and Celestar. There existed a land called “The WilderLance” (Lance of Wilderness) in an era of rivalry among various forces building their countries.
In one part of the land was the Dragon Village. It was said to hold the power of the Dragon God, which was said to have the magical power and be able to grant further power by embedding a crystal of magical power called “Gund Gem” into armor. Because of this, it was targeted!
Knight Gundam Lfrith of the Gundam Clan was the defender of the Dragon Village. He has a Gund Gem in his armor to improve his basic physical abilities. He was also a kind-hearted person and well-liked by the people of the village.
Tumblr media
However, a powerful group of nations declared the Dragon Village to be a den of evil and attempted to bring it into serious danger!
In the WilderLance, the rival clans of the MS and Human Clans merged to form the Benerit Clan. They claimed that the Gund Gem, which held the power of the Dragon God, was overly dangerous and dispatched a large army of extermination squads to the Dragon Village.
The adults of the village decided that even someone as strong as Knight Gundam Lfrith would be overwhelmed by their numbers and decided to act as bait, leaving the rebuilding of the dragon village to their children in the future.
Warrior Nadim was a first-rate Gund Gem craftsman who incorporated the Gund Gem into Lfrith's armor. He and Lfrith were good friends and decided to act as decoys together.
Tumblr media
Then there was Summoner Elnora, Nadim's wife, who led the escape from the village with her own children and the children of the village. She was an excellent summoner, but during the escape, she injured her face. And later…
Tumblr media
With the remaining forces as decoys, the adults were prepared to hold off the Benerit Clan's strike force no matter how wounded their bodies would become.
Elder Cardo, who was the leader of the Dragon Village, also acted as bait for the Benerit Clan to ensure that the children of the village escaped.
Tumblr media
With their morale boosted by Elder Cardo's leadership, Knight Gundam Lfrith and the adults of the village bravely confronted the Benerit Clan.
Like his father Lfrith, Swordsman Gundam Lfrith Junior wore armor that incorporated a Gund Gem. Although still a swordsman, he fought bravely for the future of the Dragon Village, but he is lost in the battle.
Tumblr media
The Benerit Clan struggled against the defenders (decoys) in the Dragon Village thanks to Elder Cardo's commands, but a cool-headed knight is after Lfrith!
The morale of the garrison of the Dragon Village, which were fighting alongside Knight Gundam Lfrith as a decoy, was high, and Soldier Heingra, a member of the Benerit Clan's extermination squad, was also struggling.
In this situation, Knight Beguir-Beu, a direct subordinate of Chief Delling, the head of the Benerit Clan and commander of the extermination unit, decided that the garrison would collapse if Knight Gundam Lfrith was defeated!
Tumblr media
For some reason, he had been targeting Knight Gundam Lfrith, who was boosted by the Gund Gem, and was such a powerful foe that there are whispers that he was equally capable. Although he had been quietly watching, he appeared on the front line as a result of the extermination team's hard fight.
Knight Beguir-Beu, who has a habit of lowering the visor of his helmet and showing his full strength when he perceived a strong enemy, judged Knight Gundam Lfrith to be a strong enemy and challenges him to a fight!
Knight Beguir-Beu was convinced that if he could defeat Lfrith, he could easily destroy the garrison. However, Beguir-Beu underestimated his strength, and a fierce battle ensued between the two.
Tumblr media
As a result, Knight Beguir-Beu was defeated and felled, but Lfrith was also defeated, and with the loss of Lfrith, all the adults in the village garrison were wiped out. The village was burned to the ground by the Benerit Clan.
However, the decoys were successful, and a few adults and many children escaped and built a new village in a different forest, where the story begins several years later.
-
Several years passed. The Benerit Nation, a huge city-state, expanded its power in the WilderLance. Even now, the Benerit Clan continued to develop and expand, with each family line rising to prominence and competing with the others.
On the other hand, the few adults and many children who had escaped from the Dragon Village, which was thought to have been destroyed, joined forces to develop a new Dragon Village and lived peacefully.
The village's young priestess, Priestess Miorine, was the “link between the dragon god and people". Despite her young age, she had the power to repel malevolent magic with her blessings, and a winning personality.
Tumblr media
Surprisingly, she was also in charge of food production in the village, and grew beautiful tomatoes from the seedlings she brought back from the village that was destroyed.
However, her peaceful life was about to be destroyed by a scouting party from the Benerit Clan, who wanted to exterminate the survivors of the dragon village. At that moment, a vagabond with mysterious powers saved her!
Miorine's rescuer was Magic Knight Gundam Aerial, a vagabond and wielder of the “Magic Sword Escutcheon” who had been traveling throughout WilderLance!
Tumblr media
This wandering knight had acquired extraordinary strength through training during their travels, and by making a contract with a spirit, the “Gund Glyph” emblems on their armor appear and the Magic Sword Gunbit Rondo (Gambit Rondo?) that holds the power of the Gund Gem is unleashed.
This strength was achieved without the Gund Gem. They were a mysterious wanderer who appeared to look somewhat similar to the late Knight Gundam Lfrith due to also being a member of the Gundam Clan. They seemed to be a good person who vowed to save the weak from selfish violence.
Thanks to Aerial's efforts, the Benerit Clan's scouting party was defeated and Priestess Miorine was safe. However, Aerial noticed that a small dragon of the Dragon God was hiding in Miorine's bosom.
It was at that point that a mysterious beast girl who was assigned to guard Miorine by “a certain someone” showed up.
Tumblr media
Mage Suletta was a beastman skilled in magic who had not been living in the village since she escaped from the dragon village, but had been living in the surrounding forest for a long time. She was quite capable as a mage.
Suletta was entrusted by “a certain someone” to escort the priestess Miorine, and she rushed to join Aerial.
Perhaps because of her characteristics as a beastman, she is good at conversing with spirits, and as a mage, she is highly skilled in sensing magic and magic investigation, and she quickly became friends with Aerial.
In return for their help, Miorine decided to guide them to the forest village where they lived. Upon arriving, she introduces her hardy companions who live in the forest, a group of friends that now included Magic Knight Gundam Aerial and the Mage Suletta.
Hunter Chuchu boasted of her strength and was close to Miorine's age. She was a girl who remembered the despair she felt during her escape from the dragon village and has therefore chosen to become a hunter herself.
Tumblr media
She usually hunted her prey and brought back the materials she obtained from the forest monsters she had killed to the blacksmith to have her own equipment made. She seemed to have developed a surprising fondness for Aerial.
Hunter Kenanji, also a hunter, was a former member of the extermination team of the Benerit Clan who was now part of the dragon village. Although he was a former member of the Benerit Clan, he was one of the few adults in the forest who is well-liked.
Tumblr media
He was a good person who was welcomed as a member of the village after he abandoned his mission to eradicate the dragon village and helped the children escape, rebelling against the cruelty and pressure of the Benerit Clan. He has excellent hunter skills.
Everyone in this forest seemed to be friendly to Aerial. This is because they felt an aspect of the now deceased former hero Knight Gundam Lfrith within him.
Blacksmith Nika dealt with blacksmithing in the village. Because of her expertise in blacksmithing, she took on the creation and repair of tools for the hunters, as well as the creation of daily necessities. She also supported Chuchu and the other hunters.
Tumblr media
Then there was Shopkeeper Martin, the leader of the village children. He is the owner of a blacksmith store and a diner. He was timid, but had a strong sense of responsibility as an elder and looked up to Kenanji, who was one of the few adults in the village.
Tumblr media
Martin and Kenanji sometimes travelled to sell the village's products to the city and stock up on daily necessities. Nika sometimes accompanied them on these trips, but she was always wary of the Benerit Clan.
And today was the day of the return of a brave MS warrior, one of the few adults in the village.
It was Warrior Demi Trainer, who protected the village! He was a warrior who was entrusted by Knight Gundam Lfrith with the children during the attack on the dragon village, and escorted the escapees, despite being a garrison member.
Tumblr media
However, he had a strong sense of territoriality from past attacks, and his quarrelsome personality had influenced Chuchu. He too was wary of Aerial at first.
His son, Hunter Demitrainer, is training to become a great hunter with Bound Puppy, a cub monster he picked up in the forest.
Tumblr media
The warrior Demi Trainer was skeptical of Aerial, but since they and Lfrith were of the Gundam Clan, he accepted him for now and invited him to help hunt forest monsters.
The group was soon confronted by forest monsters!
The forest demon-type monster Bear Azrawan is a large bear-like monster, and is thought to be an evolved form of the monsters that also exist in the Saddrac World.
Next is the humanoid monster Orc Clibarri. It seems to be an evolved form of the humanoid monster in Saddrac, and is a more formidable monster.
Then there is the small monster Goblin Kapell-Kuu. This monster also seems to be an evolved form of the same monster in the Saddrac World. The existence of these monsters seems to be deeply related to the still-undisclosed relationship with the Saddrac World.
While the group was hunting monsters, the survivors of the earlier scouting party of the Benerit Clan made the main clan aware of the existence of a village in the forest!
For some reason, the existence of the survivors from the destroyed Village of the Dragon God, made Chief Delling feel threatened, and he ordered their extermination by the three families that were currently competing for the Benerit Clan.
The next head of one of the three families, the Jeturk family, Noble Knight Guel, led his own forces to outflank the other two families.
Although his youth made him a bit aggressive, rude, and rough, he also had the integrity to respect those who show their strength. Little did he know that this battle would change his destiny forever….
Tumblr media
One of the other families, the Grassleys, who are fearless in their actions, was also on the move.
Shaddiq, the noble knight of the Grassley family, had high political power among the Benerit Clan. He was aiming for success while maintaining his composure, trying to counter the Jeturk family, which fought aggressively, with intelligence.
It was said that Shaddiq was a crafty noble knight, and that he had been playing some tricks within the city to gain means outside of combat.
But in this battle, Shaddiq did not expect his pride to be hurt by Aerial.
Tumblr media
And the last of the three families was full of mysteries...
While the three families of the Benerit clan were plotting to exterminate the people of the forest, where the survivors of the Dragon Village live, the mysterious “Peil Family” had also begun to take action.
The next head of the Peil family, Noble Knight Elan, was a Noble Knight with magical powers unique to the Peil family. Unlike Guel and Shaddiq, he was aiming for the complete know-how of the Gund Gems possessed by the people of the forest rather than taking credit for their extermination.
Tumblr media
In fact, the joint heads of the Peil family, a group of Sorcerers, had Gund Gems they had recovered in secret when they destroyed the Dragon Village, and had been conducting their own research in secret. They gave the imperfect results to “a certain Gundam Clan noble knight”.
In the midst of the dark activities of the Peil family, Elan, who was researching magic, became interested in Mage Suletta, whom he would meet in this battle.
The three families of the Benerit Clan would lead their respective forces into the forest. But now the people have a well-minded wanderer Magic Knight Gundam Aerial as their companion!
At last, the three major forces led by the three families of the Benerit Clan invaded the forest to destroy the survivors of the Dragon Village. It was the Jeturk family that first took the initiative!
The captain of the Jeturk army, Noble Knight Dilanza, was a knight with high combat power and a deep knowledge of not only strength but also tactics. He lightly regarded Aerial as a “bumpkin”….
Contrary to his captain, Warrior Dilanza was belligerent and prefers to act alone. He was a conspicuous figure in the Jeturk family. Soldier Demi Garrison, a common soldier of the Benerit Clan, was also a member of the Jeturk family and is aggressive in numbers. The Jeturk family's forces attack in numbers!
Tumblr media
However, they underestimated the Magic Knight Gundam Aerial's magic sword and suffered a painful defeat.
The next army was that of the Grassley Family.
The commander of the army of the Grassley family was Noble Knight Michaelis. He is a schemer, and under the direction of Shaddiq, was secretly planning to use the power of Miorine's power as the priestess of the dragon god to his advantage.
Tumblr media
Then there was Fencer Heindree, Michaelis's subordinate and a faithful swordsman. He had not been told of the priestess's power in the Dragon Village, and faithfully followed his instructions to subdue her.
The noble knight Michaelis was also quite a skilled swordsman, but he was no match for Aerial's magic sword and was narrowly defeated.
Two of the three families were defeated by Aerial one after another, but the Peil family was different. The leader of their army was also a member of the Gundam Clan, just like Aerial!
Mage Zowort, the mage of the Peil family, was led by the jet-black knight Noble Knight Pharact, who boasts of abilities that rival those of the magic knight!
A knight skilled in magical combat and armed with magical versatility, he stands as Aerial's most difficult enemy. This was because the Peil family had recovered the Gund Gem, a secret that was left behind at the time of the fall of the Dragon's Village, and had implanted it in Pharact.
Tumblr media
In the fierce battle between Aerial and Pharact with magic, Aerial won by a narrow margin.
However, the Gund Gem inside the defeated Pharact began to run amok!
Pharact transformed into the dragon-shaped monster Pharact Dragon when the Gund Gem embedded in him went out of control! He has lost his sense of self due to the outburst of magical power.
Tumblr media
The mysterious Gund Gem, which had been secretly recovered by the Peil family at the time of the collapse of the Dragon Village and studied independently, went out of control due to the “residual thoughts of anger” and “malice” within Pharact. He became a powerful enemy whose entire body has been transformed into a dragon of destruction.
Those who obtained powerful magical power from the Gund Gem had “Gund-Graphs” appear on their bodies, appearing like cracks all over their bodies.
It was then that a spirit summoned by “a certain person” saved Aerial, who was struggling against the overwhelming power of Pharact Dragon! This person summoned “Spirit Iceburn,” a spirit of water and ice, and “Spirit Geist,” a spirit of fire!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aerial, using these high-level spirits and empowered by their opposite elements, finally defeated Pharact Dragon. The morale of the three families' troops was lowered, and the three families were defeated.
But who was the “someone” who summoned the spirits?
It was Summoner Prospera, who protected the self-proclaimed dragon god priestess. She lent her power to Magic Knight Gundam Aerial. It was under her direction that Mage Suletta was dispatched.
Tumblr media
Prospera was an excellent summoner, and is able to summon more powerful spirits by offering her life force as well as her magical power.
Prospera seemed to be a survivor of the former Dragon Village, but she wore a mask because her face was injured during the escape. Currently, she boasted the greatest amount of magic in the current village due to the large number of inexperienced children.
Prospera was calm, but she seemed to hate the Benerit Clan intensely. Aerial was wary of her, even though she was a mystery, and they owed her a debt of gratitude.
Meanwhile, the three families have suffered a painful defeat at the hands of Aerial and the rest of the forest village, but now that the Benerit Clan's head, Chief Delling, has learned of the existence of the village, he has given the three families new instructions!
Tumblr media
Summoner Prospera had saved Magic Knight Aerial by summoning spirits against the Pharact Dragon. However, summoning multiple spirits was an extremely difficult task.
Prospera's summoning was assisted by Spirit Erichts, which were mysterious child-like spirits. These spirits followed Prospera, but they had their own unique personalities and a childlike innocence.
Tumblr media
Although the Spirit Erichts were mysterious spirits, Prospera was able to summon more than one through their power. But her goals were still unknown at this time. Aerial was also wary of her.
Meanwhile, the Peil family's secret independent research on the Gund Gem had been revealed, and the other families have begun to target the “Gund Gem” independently, while the Peil family has been standing on its own shoulders within the Benerit Clan. Finally, they had discovered the forest village where the survivors of the Dragon Village went to.
At that time, two knights with shining gems on their foreheads were about to appear. They were Magic Knights from the Gundam Clan just like Aerial!

Lucy lives!au where both lucy and desmond are tensely sitting on the fact that Clay Told Desmond She Is A Templar and neither of them know how to approach this without outing that fact to everyone (Desmond does not want his dad to kill her)
OUGHHHH.
and the way it completely flips the little power dynamic they had going on. because whether desmond likes it or not, whether he wants it or not, lucy's life is now completely at his mercy. one wrong word and. well. they're called assassins for a reason. and while i think there's multiple stories in the series of assassins becoming templars, there's basically none about templars becoming assassins (or assassins again) which tells you about all you need to know about how willing they'd be to let a "traitor" back into their little gang.
and that's just got to feel terrible, right? especially now that desmond knows. if he can just read between the lines of what lucy has told him about vidic from her perspective, what clay has shown him about how she was turned. terrible awful moment of realizing that it's playing out all over again; only now lucy owes her life to him for not giving her over to the assassins. i don't think desmond would like that at all.
and like. to me there is zero question that part of the reason lucy latched onto desmond more than she was probably supposed to according to the whole templar double-agent plan was that he was someone she had a modicum of control over. she was very much in control of the flow of information to him, he owed her for getting him out of abstergo, and in all likelihood, she probably intended to protect him from them as best he could (a track record which does not reflect well on her! considering what happened to clay! but i really do think she intended to.)
so, that is gone. not only is that gone, but her world's been up-ended, again. she's not a quite a templar, not quite an assassin, and oh, right, the sun is still going to explode, and they barely know how they're going to stop it. desmond was in a coma for who knows how long, and now he looks at her different. he knows. and now they're all going to be in close proximity with his dad and her mentor who will not risk the whole world for either of them, shaun's still being twitchy about 'what if desmond was a templar spy' with no idea how close and how far off that assumption is, and there's also that fucking alien isu ghost lady who tried to kill her through desmond! not a fun time for lucy, all things considered.
and like despite that, i think the old dynamic they had still remains. desmond relies on lucy. she's now proven that she's a completely unreliable anchor to reality, but still, she's the one he's got. they started this animus shit together; they're gonna finish it together. lucy is still trying to pull the incredible balancing act of pushing desmond far enough to get what they need without breaking him entirely, something that's getting harder and harder by the day because like. three. well, no, four, huh. haytham, too. so four memory dives in, there's... if not damage, then a disconnect. between desmond and reality. that can't be undone, only managed.
everything that happens already leaves their little team so isolated from the outside world, but alsjdlksa i fucking love the idea of lucy & desmond being even isolated from the other assassins. terrible secret gang.
#the best gift i can give to any character set is to shoot them with the isolated codependency beams#i think. let lucy live and desmond has someone to bounce his thoughts off of for 'fuck what if the assassins *can't* handle this'#in a way that might be. like. a little productive?#because okay cool isu tech might save them. they also have no guarantees that it will beyond like. hope and ghost alien lady's words.#i don't think lucy could convince desmond that abstergo/the templars want what's best.#but i do think that they could both pull each other closer to a middle ground.#like. abstergo bad. but they also fucking live there. on the planet. if the solar flare happens they die too. so like.#clearly they also want to stop it. to what extent is probably the questionable bit! they'd probably let the majority of humanity#get scorched to preserve what they want.#but undeniably. they have resources the assassins do not. lucy knows what those resources are.#keep her in the game and desmond knows what plan B is. whether or not it even comes down to using it.#thinks about them trying to plot this. and that lingering tension between them that exists because lucy lied once and might be lying now#and desmond is choosing to trust her while there's a ghost of clay in the back of his head screaming at him that he's an idiot#and they can't let any of the others catch on to the fact that they're even *considering* abstergo's resources as a possibility.#ask#assassin's creed#lucy stillman#desmond miles#puts them in the worst situations <3 because i love them <3#also i think desmond and lucy should get to kill vidic together. catharsis.

hi everyone! after re-evaluating our workload (both within the scope of acswy and outside of it), we have decided to change the frequency with which we post. moving forward, we will be posting updates three weeks apart -- we will continue to use friday as our preferred update day.
this will give us more wiggle room as writers while also maintaining some consistency for you as our readers, and overall allow us to continue the same quality and same chapter length without the same amount of pressure or stress! thanks everyone for all the love as always!

wait aren’t rin-tezuka and/or rui-cifer also in the antiblack communist crowd like i could have sworn i just saw rin-tezuka straight up imply that racism against us can be overlooked Recently on one of riotbard’s posts
Ohh I’ve had rui-cifer blocked for a long while now (or this could’ve been a differ rui, I forget-) (these ppl keep slipping through the cracks unfortunately. If this is the same person, I think they were one of the losers making light of black ppl talking about black genocide a few years ago as well but I still see people reblog from them) and I’ve never heard of the other person before but they’re one of those people crying about that “if someone watched these anime, would you think that they’re pedos-“ poll (sm ppl that are crying about it has either been weird about kids or has loli or whatever in their bios, at least from the few I’ve blocked in passing...)
