Characters

-> Bluestar (Blanche) Is the 'head' of the house of Thunder, I think this just makes her a lady/lord of sorts, she controls the finances, the hiring decisions, and any military planning or involvement goes through her first. She also probably reports to the monarchy.

She dies in the conflict/war. Usually, the title and responsibilities would fall to her children but she doesn't have any, so she makes the servant, Fineen her protege and leaves him with all the money management when she dies. Out of everyone she probably actually is a duchess or archduchess or something fancy like that, but for the sake of the AU, that's not too important. She's Black-French

-> Tigerclaw (Tristain) is only well known and wealthy through his military prowess, he's the one that fanned the conflict with Bloodclan and eventually dies in battle. He is racist and classist, a reflection of his own insecurities since he grew up poor and is probably part minority.

He is married to Golden (Gwendolyn.) He does cheat on her but he still stays married to her, meaning after his death, his wealth and title goes back to her and his legitimate children*

-> Raven, not pictured. he just leaves. around this time if you desert your post and are found, you could be executed. So he stays away. only Fireheart (Fineen) and Grayson know he's alive and well. probably living just at the edge of the bloodclan border at a farm.

-> Sandstorm(Sandra) She knows how to fight, but legally isn't allowed to join the war/conflict. She's of Greek descent and unlike Dustin, has no opinion of servants. She's allowed to hunt for the cooks of the house so she hunts and explores the wild.

-> Dustpelt (Dustin) He is canonically the brother of Raven. nothing to really say, he's the same in canon.

-> Grayson. pretty much the only other servant/lower-class person in the house of Thunder. he grew up in the house of Thunder, and bonds with Fineen. same as canon, except he does not have children with Silver (Silvia) They just have a little romp that causes even more drama. He is of Pacific-Islander descent.

-> Fireheart (Fineen). Blanche is the one who hired him, before joining the house as a lowly servant and eventual military guy, he lived probably, in bloodclan with his family. He is a foreigner, poor, loser with no skills but Blanche still ends up making him the heir before she dies. He is Indian-Irish descent.

Plot Points

-> Bluestar/Blanche still has children with Oakheart/Oakley. the children are born out of wedlock and as a cover-up she and Thrushpelt probably get engaged while she's pregnant. She fakes the death of her children, however, and they end up with their father in the House of River. After this, she breaks the engagement with Thrushpelt.

-> *Even if Tiger divorced Golden before his death, the house of Thunder would've still helped Golden financially, its just she wouldn't be living...rich.

-> I'm thinking of having the houses kinda like a land with other little houses on it, like an estate? Blanche would've just been the glorified landlord.

FUCKING YESS!!! WHOO HOO!! I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DAY!!!

Okay so I haven’t brushed up on my PJ lore in a while, so correct me if any of this is wrong, but I’m sticking with the basics.

What gets me about their friendship is that they���ve been through it all together. Once again, correct me if I’m wrong, but him and Phil were friends before Dan started making videos, correct? It could’ve been after. Point is, he was there pre youtube era, bat shit insane era, and out era. And there’s proof they’ve stayed close through it all. I cannot imagine the pressure of maintaining a normal friendship under the circumstances they were under. I will fully admit myself I am one curious mf first thing I would ask is if they were together. And to have a bunch of 13 year olds yelling at you to do so, I can’t imagine just seeing all of that and then casually heading out to see a movie or get dinner.

I have a head cannon which I feel like I have enough reason to treat it like cannon and that’s that dnp only were close to YouTubers who didn’t care about their sexuality/relationship. You had to be there, but the 2014 british youtuber boom, dnp were making collabs with people who just were so different and it showed. And I don’t think people will understand if they weren’t there how big of a thing “phan” was. They were described usually something along the lines of “those friends with the matching hair that fans think are together.” So when you mix personalities that, to no one’s fault, just don’t blend, mix it with the pressure of five million thirteen year olds, and mix it with people who one has a lot wrong with them, that’s a really bad mixture to set up a friendship. I believe other than Louise and PJ, who dnp knew before hand (pretty sure louise, might have been at the start of their career), tyler oakley and Anthony seem to be the only creators they seemed comfortable around. I forgot why I started talking about this. Oh, the conditions in which friendship had to stand under.

I truly don’t know how to explain how insane the phandom used to be. And how widespread. As someone approaching the age they were when they started to blow up, I am amazed they didn’t leave the internet.

This whole long rant is to say that it was overwhelming to even be in the vicinity of dnp. The amount of pressure is something I truly cannot describe. And it’s hard to explain if you weren’t there, but I cannot imagine an outsider maintaining a relationship with the two of them with the pressures both within the relegation ship and outside. Because let’s also not forget Dan’s mental health and trauma was triggered every time a “phan is real” comment happened. It was truly such a chaotic time and I think the reason they didn’t have a lot of friends was because they couldn’t.

So it’s just that it must have been so fucking hard. And they must have a very close bond to have survived what their friendship endured. It was such a unique scenario to be pulled into and deciding to come along for the ride is something I find so admirable.

I also think PJ has been a part of their journey with sexuality and how public they were about being together. From what we know, Phil and PJ filmed together back when it was just millennials. To as recent as filming April Fool’s. That experience of watching that dynamic rise and fall and having to just follow and work with must’ve been crazy

If you look at a lot of the credits in dnp’s more professional videos, PJ is often in the credit and often has a big role. Really, it’s mostly the same people who dip and pip work with which gets me the most. It’s obvious they feel comfortable and genuine around him. We’ve seen behind the scenes how they discuss ideas. It’s just very relaxed, which is something dip and pip were deprived of as soon as they started blowing up. Everything had to be planned and thought through. And I think having an old friend who they were likely open to about their relationship and sexuality probably kept them sane. I do believe they are a lot closer than they put forward online and good for them. I think that’s why they’ve stayed friends for so long.

A lot of this is pure speculation. But it must be so cool to have watched your close friend go through the journey pip did, all the while being with someone he loved. But also helping them through it and helping them express themselves within their own boundaries.

That’s what I was yapping about at the start. I think the few YouTubers dip and pip remained close to Anthony, Louise, and Tyler, is because they seemed to like dan and phil because they liked dan and phil. There was no ulterior motive and they genuinely didn’t give a shit their relationship or what fans said. If I were dnp, I would have become very guarded with my emotions. But, at least from what we’ve seen, they seem very comfortable with Pj and his gf I forget her name but she’s so pretty.

When I think of friendship I think of what Peej has with dip and pip. There was so much obvious discomfort for so many years and being able to adapt to that is something special. Balancing public versus private. And just having such long history together. Once again, I’m not up to date on my lore, but I’m pretty sure Phil and Pj knew each other before Phil knew Dan. Or at least it was very close. Like they have been friends from the start. Pj was there for every stage. Every stage. And having a friend who remained neutral during it all probably really helped dip and pip not go nuts.

I truly cannot put into words how out of control the phandom was. Like I don’t even know how to phrase it. It was such a unique phenomena that I have never seen anything even close since. So it’s hard to really get across what it meant sticking with dip and pip during the height of their career, but it must have been so fucking hard on all sides.

And to just see after that chaos that they are still close, that they still film together, that they just hang out,,, I just find that very neat. And admirable. And I’m so curious to know more about it.

Hypnovember 2: Reset

Stealing the prompt list @jammed-out is putting together for the month

CW: robot play, talk of memory and personality wipe

When K1T had agreed to let Oakley do some maintenance on it, it had hesitated.

K1T was not made for at-home updates and repair, it was one of many mass-produced bots made to break down just as the new model came down. It had been lucky enough, originally, to be bought by a family that prided themselves on not being wasteful; they had been more interested in maintaining what they had and they were willing to take K1T back to the manufacturer whenever a part broke or they wanted a new update installed.

But that had been a long time ago.

It had been a long time since even the manufacturer stopped working on the K1T model.

It had been a long time since K1T was left to be recycled.

K1T had been lucky to meet Oakley; they met recently, though K1T had trouble remembering the details. Clearly its memory storage needed some updates, or maybe it was some other part acting up.

Oakley had reassured it that they would keep things simple for the first tune up.

Sitting in the service chair, locked into place with most of its motor functions disabled, K1T could feel Oakley’s unscrewing the plate from the back of its neck. It felt the piece lifted and heard metal on metal as it was set aside. The air of the garage immediately cooled its exposed wires; K1T didn’t have any programming to mimic the shivers that human’s felt, but even one plate being removed always made it feel a cold wave run through its body. Before the cold got too far, it felt Oakley’s tools tap at one of its internal consoles.

“I forgot what you were going to fix,” K1T admitted, feeling a bit nervous.

“I mostly wanted to look around and clean things off,” Oakley said, obviously concentrating.. K1T could feel them still poking around. “You’ve still been operating well, so I doubt I’ll need to replace anything, but there’s sure to be a few things that could use some TLC.”

“Are you… going to take off any other plates today?” K1T asked, hoping to get an idea of what all Oakley planned to check. Surely Oakley would get to everything eventually, but that would take more than a day.

“Depends. I definitely want to check some of your processing, sensory, and memory modules. I should be able to do all that from here, though.”

“Oh, but you’re not going to remove anything to actually inspect yet, right?”

K1T felt the tinkering stop. “I wasn’t planning on it today, no. Is that something you’re worried about?” Oakley asked.

K1T saw and felt its lights turn a bright pink. “Oh, I, uh… I wasn’t sure if…”

“You can relax,” Oakley said with a chuckle. Their hands started moving again and they scooted their chair closer so that their leg rested against K1T’s side. The contact did calm it down. “I won’t reset you or anything weird.”

K1T felt a heat in their core and hoped it wouldn’t grow enough to trigger their fans; that might be hard to explain. It forced a little laugh. “Oh, I… Is that even something you know how to do?”

“A factory reset? Of course, there’s nothing simpler. And I would be lying if I said there wasn’t something cute about a blank bot with all their preset bubbliness and need to please.”

K1T let out three beeps in a pleasant chime and saw its lights shift to a darker pink. It couldn’t help but imagine itself standing in the default position the manufacturer had set for it, relying only on the orders given with no mods or set preferences to operate on. The ping of pleasure that came from even the simplest task when its head was so empty.

“There’s nothing simpler,” Oakley said again. “But I don’t do that often. I’m selective on the bots I work on and I only make changes or alterations upon request, I’m a mechanic, not a monster.”

“That’s… That’s good,” K1T said, glad that Oakley seemed to be ignoring their obvious… excitement. They were almost too embarrassed to say anything more, but their curiosity won. “Do you still have the bots you reset? Do you consider yourself a collector?”

“Sometimes, but I don’t have any bots under my full time care right now, but I have three that I do maintenance on at least once a month. I backup my bots before I reset them, so after we have a little fun I merge all the memory files so they can remember what we did while still retaining who they were. I have one bot that I reset fairly often, but that’s just because its girlfriend isn’t confident enough to do it herself and that’s what they like.”

The noise behind K1T indicated that Oakley was switching out their tools.

“Just a heads up, I’m going to use some compressed air,” Oakley warned.

K1T felt the chill of the compressed air, but the gentle tickle of it elicited a hum from its chest. Oakley focused on the nearest components first before angling the can to get at pieces farther up into K1T’s head. Although the module wasn’t programmed for touch sensitivity, K1T felt a bolt of static ran through its body as the air ran over its memory module.

Oakley set the compressed air aside and resumed using their more delicate tools, though now they were cleaning components much closer to K1T’s memory module. There were plenty of delicate parts up there, everything that made it who it was today.

“I would certainly love to do a full reset on you someday, if you’d like,” Oakley whispered.

K1T’s fans kicked on.

Oakley laughed. “I get the feeling that’s something you’d really like,” they teased.

K1T’s lights alternated between a purple and that deep pink and another trilling set of beeps came from them. “I– I would maybe–”

“Sweet bots like you are always so needy to be reminded of your intended purpose.” K1T felt a tool slot into the edge of a panel on its sensory module, causing another bolt of static to course through it. “And I love nothing more than to show a silly, reset bot what it means to be a pleasure bot. Maybe even replace some of that default programming with something more important; no need for some of that critical thinking they give you when I can pre-program you to respond to specific commands and know how I want you to suck my cock, hmm?”

A whining trill came from K1T’s chest. The tools and Oakley’s hand pulled away, but before K1T could complain it felt Oakley’s tongue slip into the open panel and lick the wires. K1T short circuited and when its visuals came back on it could feel its neck panel being screwed back into place.

“Oh, I’m going to have fun with you,” Oakley teased, drawing a whine from K1T.

When the panel was back on, they leaned in and gave K1T one final kiss to the metal.

“That might be enough fun for now, hm? Let’s get you fully back together.”

Oakley thumbed open a port covering and plugged something in. K1T’s lights went blue as the information was downloaded.

Suddenly, they could remember months, years that they had lived with K1T, countless tune-ups and mods and maintenance work. They had toyed with downloading alternate personalities and programs before, but they’d always been interested in trying out different resets. They wanted to save anything more intense for later scenes, so starting with a reset to soon after meeting had been a great place to start. To K1T, the idea of getting to experience its first maintenance again had been too good to pass up.

As soon as Oakley initiated its motor functions again, K1T shot up and spun to wrap its arms around them.

“That was so hot!” they yelled, their lights a bright yellow. “Oh my gods, that was so, so hot!”

Oakley winced slightly at their strong hold. “I’m glad you liked it too, we’ll definitely have to do something like that again.

Why do I feel like Oscar is intentionally keeping Lando at a distance because he assumes it would never work out? And Lando kind of wishes Oscar would show an interest but he isn't so Lando pulls back too? Maybe I'm totally crazy but feels like they're doing a double fake out. If not then why not just be friendly the way they are with other guys?

gonna put below a cut and include some other asks that aren't necessarily of interest to everyone and are kind of in the same vein (note the tag)

okay so "why not just be friendly like they are with other guys" is a pretty good thing to focus on bc when you actually break it down, Lando and Oscar define themselves as being pretty shy and they conceal a fair amount their lives and closest friends from the public. and truth is that it seems to take both of them at least a year of knowing someone before they open up - and even longer before they're as friendly as we see them with guys like Logan, Zhou, Carlos or Daniel. Lando lists the guys he's known since as far back as karting as his closest friends. so after just one season together, what we already have in terms of friendliness between Lando and Oscar is pretty damn good!

but honestly we can't say that either of them are really holding back at all when we've got Andrea and Zak constantly emphasizing how in sync they are and then of course how big they both show up for each other's wins/poles etc. whatever we don't get in terms of fun fandom content, we've got them showing each other mutual respect and support and sharing the same priorities. that's... really good imo.

it's what cracks me up abt everyone who went all 'planetf1 angry white dad in oakleys selfie in a truck comment section' over that recent Oscar quote. Lando's literally had everyone saying the same thing to him, directly and on social media ?? did they also decide that Martin Brundle, Natalie Pinkham, Lawrence Barretto and Jenson Button all despise Lando and want to take swipes at him by saying that his public flagellation feels of no use and worse, that it's probably a hindrance to his mindset? did Lando suddenly became loathed by all these people who SEEM to openly like or love him bc they said that ??

or did they expect Oscar to respond to that question with "oh no yeah it's cool that my teammate who I actually like shits all over himself and gives his haters ammo y'know to each their own whatever man" bc that WOULD actually be incredibly cold and hurtful asgajsgfljasf

I know fandom can go way off track and start expecting these men to talk like fan fic but the truth is that they view each other as professionals and fellow drivers first and friends (if they are) second. I won't repeat myself bc I've posted about it enough but none of the grid are a significant part of Lando or Oscar's life outside F1. Lando and Martin did a stopover in Perth (and apparently Martin even had work there?) for one day to ride dirt bikes at Daniel's ranch and Lando went to Carlos' sisters' gigantic state wedding lol. doesn't compare at all compared to Lando's time spent with Max F, the quadrant folks, his family, his Monaco friends and definitely not Martin Garrix. it also doesn't mean that they're not still friends with those guys on the grid - it's just not the same.

so the fact that Lando and Oscar aren't out here dishing out bromancey stuff where fans can see and hear definitely doesn't say that those bromances mean the drivers are actually any closer. Oscar relied on extroverts like Robert and Arthur to give him something to play off and Lando relied on Carlos and Daniel for the same. so when they're left without a gobby extrovert they do that cute thing of giggling and handing back and forth to each other. to me personally it's always kind of sweet ?? that Lando and Oscar do the thing of looking at each other for support to get through the cringey and awkward to camera stuff. sometimes when Lando is really feeling himself Oscar can just kick back and watch him. and as we saw w that helmet design video, even when Oscar isn't filming w Lando he hangs around offers support.

wow apparently I cannot stay on track today anon but idk I just personally think that it's the opposite of a mutual fakeout and they've bonded pretty well over both being shy, both being equally focused on their careers and also needing to switch off sometimes. finding out they spent the night after Lando's crash in Vegas together sharing "commiserations" is like, one in a long list of us hearing that they chose to hang out alone together and not publicize it.

all of us are on the outside of their friendship and as much as that suuuuucks for not getting as much content as we want, it's also really sweet and kind more likely to be genuine and lasting since they consider a lot of that relationship as private <3

askgfka no prob!! tbh a lot of the stress and anxiety in other Lando ships is down to ppl getting way too comfy w the idea that real life partners either aren't "real" or that they're the only thing standing in the way of their ship becoming real.

and bc for some reason landoscar makes me want to write all of these essays I feel like it's kind of my responsibility to be like yeah, there's even more than just assuming ppl's sexualities and their real life partners stand between two ppl we like to imagine together actually getting together. rpf is heavy on the f and mostly what we're all actually enjoying are friendships. and as someone who is lucky to have them, I personally wouldn't be one of those ppl who said romantic partners and friendships are on some sliding scale of importance. they're just different!

ever since landoscar became a thing, Lily's been in Oscar's life and Lando's been pursued by every man who sees him and burning through baddies on Raya on a literal global scale. it's important to come back from rpf to that fact so we don't end up attraction those legions of people calling real life girlfriends "PR beards" or that Lando's dating app horniness is some front for him meeting up with Carlos or Daniel or whoever lol.

oh I am so not the person to answer abt this since I can't relate to wanting couples to get married or thinking that it's all that significant! I'm a huge romantic and I theoretically enjoy the idea of weddings/marriage but all the ppl I know who've gotten married out of college are already regretting or cheating it so it's put a real damper on it for me.

but that's as much as I want to speculate abt them bc I don't want to put anything out in the universe for ppl I'll never even know !!

once again wishing there was more recognition of systems who are disordered for reasons other than a CDD in spaces that are supposed to be inclusive [elaboration about our/myur experiences under cut. tl;dr, we have aspd, and our aspd is what causes the Wolf System to be disordered because of how the masks/parts split and present, and it takes a non-insignificant amount of time and effort to make progress and keep the progress wei've made]

like, while we aren't all disordered, while the collective as a whole isn't disordered, for the Wolf System specifically, our ASPD essentially acts as a "plural disorder" (not a huge fan of the term plural disorder but whatever, it's the best way to get myur point across). the masks formed by myur ASPD eventually break off partially into their own personalities, but they're still masks, and their inability to split off fully into their own whole people outside of being masks is part of what makes meus disordered. not to mention the reason why the masks form and then split off in the first place--to keep meus from being too vulnerable, to protect myur ego (more of an NPD thing but meh, our NPD and ASPD are very intertwined), to allow Oakley to feel hurt but not too hurt, not too scared. to keep people from finding out too much about meus, from connecting the different parts of myurselves that wei spread across the internet so that wei always have somewhere to escape to. so that if wei get hurt, there's always a mask to protect meus, and a mask to let meus run away. a mask that talks to the people who wei can't feel safe around, who wei need to be careful around, who wei don't know the real boundaries of what wei can and cannot talk to--so that all the blame will fall on it if it does something wrong, and so that nobody else is around to fuck up and do something wrong in its stead, so that if something happens, it will be there to let meus walk away without feeling all-consuming despair and anger and hurt and loss of control.

only one of meus has separated enough to be considered even partially its own person, and it's taken months, and the only reason it's separated that much is because it's fronted so much more than the others (aside from Oakley). while the others have been here longer, they're still very much masks of Oakley, and so is this one in part--it still hasn't fully separated, it's still very much a mask, a part, even if it's made a lot of progress. myur struggle to be anything but Oakley's masks makes it so that wei often don't have much of a personality outside of the reason wei split off--Matty is edgy and cold, Inti is sad and scared, Dave is excitable and warm, Junie is friendly and responsible, and Twitch is... also edgy and cold but also extremely protective and angry and mistrustful. those are the entire extents of their personalities, which makes it hard to interact with other people when they front if they're not the audience they originally split off to front for. (Junie is a weird one in that sense since ze split off to be able to handle Oakley's fears of no longer being default and being forgotten, so it doesn't struggle as much since it split off to front in front of everyone, but only insomuch as to be the Responsible One Who Can Handle All The Problems, even when that's not true).

and then, of course, no matter how much they've managed to separate, if something triggers them, there's always the chance they'll backslide back into their original masks. Twitch's semi-personhood is tenuous at best, because so far, it's entirely built on its budding relationship with Oakley. which means, if someone hurts Oakley, Twitch is especially vulnerable to backsliding back into wholly just being a mask--particularly since the reason Twitch split off in the first place was to protect Oakley from feeling hurt and pain in interpersonal relationships (this already very nearly happened once relatively recently, and it would have happened had the situation been any worse and had it required Twitch to take over to take the worst of the blast--wei're very lucky that it didn't, especially considering the trigger in question).

i don't know, this is kind of a ramble, but it's something wei've been thinking about a lot, especially with all the discussion lately about how not every system with a CDD is traumagenic, in part or in whole, even if the CDD itself may be traumagenic. wei've kind of been wishing that there'd be more discussion about how not every disordered system necessarily has a CDD as the cause of their disordered-ness.

More About Her; Storm is a calming presence in the rushing hustle and bustle of the music scene. She's pretty serious, but not strict. She's down to earth and often a voice of reason when it comes to her friends shenanigans. Somehow, she's always left picking up the pieces even if she wasn't involved. Storm also tends to play devil's advocate.

She radiates confidence in everything she does. Surety fills her voice when she speaks and her movements are smooth. Deep down she does have insecurities and doubts, but she stamps them out before they can truly take hold.

In her youth she used to be much more energetic and outgoing. She's since mellowed out, but every once in a while she misses the energy she had before. Heart Rate Challenge Time!!!

So excited for this HOWEVER the outfit choices are awful! I am so disappointed in the options for MC! Why the awful bright iridescent colors?! What happened to our choices compared to the other girls?? I would literally have taken any one of those over our choices! Ours are so tacky and cheap looking! The mermaid isn’t sexy AT ALL and the cowgirl literally hurts my eyes AND the hat/collar don’t sit right on MC’s body and hair! 😤 The other girls get such cute outfits - especially Bea and Emel…

Anyways, back to the challenge! I do enjoy this one but seeing Sienna all over my Casa boy was hard to watch even though I’m with Jin. I wish we could choose to dance a little bit for everyone like Claudia did instead of all one person. I want to raise as many heart rates as I can!! 🤣

Hazel liking Liam is sad. Poor girl. Oh well she’s been warned too. Bit of a hypocrite with Emel though (shocker!) calling out Hari for not dancing with Hazel but Hazel chose Liam to dance all over and nothing was said to her… I hate double standards.

Not sure how I feel about the Viking outfits… like I like that each boy’s version is a bit different, but the hats sit really weird on their heads. Definitely not a fan of the caveman one on Jin, doesn’t show enough! Max’s superhero is so cute! He can save me any day! Also, he gets bonus points for having pop as his song type because that is what I picked as my favorite! And I’m a fan of Indiana Jones so that was a good one too! But the guys outfits are pretty cute this season! Overall two thumbs up for the boys 👍👍

I wonder how the results will go… if either Jin or Max gets their heart rate raised most by Sienna then I’m gonna be upset. I know I can’t have both in the same playthrough, but they’re both still mine!! 😅

Synopsis: Shockwave has decided to take out what he thinks is the weakest link in the Autobots decides to track him down and install an electro-calculator module to make Bumblebee his slave and use him to destroy the Autobots.

At the Ark, Optimus Prime reviews news reports about the "Robot Master" while the other Autobots undergo repairs. Prime tells his fellow Autobots that any one of them can be exploited by the enemy and that they should stick tighter and appear in public less. Overhearing this, Bumblebee believes that Optimus Prime is referring specifically to him and decides he's better off alone. Envying the humans, he wishes he could be one and spends time lamenting outside of a town. He is tracked down by Buzzsaw and Shockwave, Starscream, Thundercracker and Laserbeak catch up and the Decepticons attack him, causing him significant damage. Bumblebee transforms into vehicle and speeds away. Fleeing through the city, Bumblebee is dogged by the Decepticons and manages to lose them by hiding out in a parking lot.

That night, two joyriding teenagers named Waldo and Ernest enter the parking lot looking for a car to joy ride in. They pick Bumblebee, and in hot wiring him they disconnect his independent motor functions leaving him at their mercy. With Bumblebee rolling again, Shockwave and the other Decepticons detect him and resume their chase. When news reports reach the Ark, Optimus Prime orders the Autobots to roll out and save Bumblebee.

Waldo and Ernest are driving around causing trouble and then street race with another youth in a fast car. While they gain the upper hand until Bumblebee's engine dies. Trying to figure out what's happened, the two boys fix Bumblebee, reconnecting all his motor relays. Deciding he's enjoying the free-spirited lifestyle Bumblebee decides to continue joy riding with the kids. The Decepticons catch up and attack him, and Bumblebee is forced to take control and drive the boys from danger.

Speeding on the roads they blaze through a toll booth bringing the police chasing after them. The Decepticons activity in the air force forcing the Decepticons to detract from chasing Bumblebee to blast them out of the sky. Catching up with Bumblebee, the small Autobot decides that he has to face his responsibilities and fight. Transforming into robot mode and is about to face the Decepticons when Jetfire arrives to rescue him. However, this rescue is stopped when the Decepticons out gun him.

However, before they can capture Bumblebee the police, air force, and the Autobots arrive forcing them to retreat. As Waldo and Ernest have to deal with explaining things to the authorities, Bumblebee slinks away in robot mode realizing that his place will always be with the Autobots.

THE ALLMAN BETTS FAMILY REVIVAL*, THE FACTORY, 25 NOVEMBER 2023

Scott Bryan) with TAL WILKENFELD and Jimmy Hall, Luther Dickinson, Jackie Greene, Anders Osborne, Larry McCray, Mike Zito, Maddie Schell, Ghalia Volt, Ally Venable, and Cody Dickinson)

I had passed on this show when my rock’n’roll proposed this one (mostly being extremely selective about such shows—last one was Joe Russo’s Almost Dead Labor Day 2022, before that Electric Hot Tuna at the Sheldon Fall 2019 and Phil Lesh and all of Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Festival at the local barn that summer, but also cost, the holiday weekend, and city provincialism as the venue is out in west West County). But one of us felt under the weather and miracled me (I’ll pick up his dinner and maybe even Jameson tab at Jazz St Louis sometime, sssh). So I went anyway and gladly.

Devon Allman is local (as are several members of the core band as well as guests Maddie Schell and Mike Zito) so he started this sprawling tour at home. The Factory is relatively new—swanky and comfortable, perhaps too much so—a bigger Pageant. But it was an old crowd, so good parking and easy out starts to matter. This is what rock’n’roll has become, but so has this fan.

And this fan’s rock’n’roll is largely nostalgic. I got to hear a wonderful repertoire very competently done. Devon Allman’s voice evokes his father’s, but sometimes Jimmy Hall handled the biggest tunes (Statesboro Blues which followed a tune—one of the band’s new ones?—and effectively kicked off the show and the Whipping Post closer). Duane Betts can sound like his father while Johnny Stachela does very nicely with the slide parts. I probably wouldn’t pay $30 to see them at a smaller venue, but that’s not what justifies this as a bigger ticket tour.

It’s an all-star revue with guests coming out to sing/play a tune or two. Thus, Jackie Greene (one of the people whom I regretted foregoing when I didn’t plan to go) played acoustic guitar (Greg’s old Gibson) and sang Melissa and then added a slide solo to One Way Out and Luther Dickinson (another one I was really glad to see) tore up the first set closer Dreams while opening the second set as part of a tune I didn’t know Sailing Away. He was also significant for Come and Go Blues (sung by Maddie Schell who played mandolin). Larry McCray had to plug in three different guitars while singing Soulshine which triply underscored its gospel roots. Anders Osborne sang Ramblin’ Man with gusto but left the soloing to Duane Betts.

Ally Venable did I’m No Angel and Ghalia Volt played slide and sang Pony Boy Blues. So there were deep cuts—or at least later career cuts, including No One To Run With Anymore.

The huge treat was to see TAL WILKENFELD who was both her wonderful self and, in doing so, reminded me/us how important Berry Oakley, Allen Woody, and Oteill Burbridge have been for these tunes. She just burbled under everything, not quite soloing but driving things with inventive idea after inventive idea.`At that—or any—Hot Tuna, I would frequently punctuate my notes with Jack! For this one, there are several Tals! She sang Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More adequately but Blue Sky and Ramblin’ Man stood out even as I often watched and listened for her. She had a full blown start from scratch solo that pushed her speakers to their limits that then, duh, kicked into Whipping Post where she continued to be spectacular. She elevated the entire gig.

I don’t quite get the economics—how much does Larry McCray get for singing Soulshine? Or Cody Dickinson for being the fourth (!) on the Midnight Rider all hands on deck closer? Or Jackie Greene or Luther Dickinson? It makes sense as a one off Thanksgiving weekend party at Devon’s, but they’re off for a dozen shows. Maybe on the road the absence of Schell and Zito will open up solo and singing space for others. The extravaganza as such generates interest in a way that even the Allman Betts Band with Wilkenfeld and, oh, Hall wouldn’t. But the core band is an effective tribute act and their own tunes, the opener maybe and definitely the first two tunes of the encore, are solid.

I don’t regret Jessica being in there but that probably took the In Memory of Elizabeth Reed slot. Otherwise my wishlist was met.

That includes lawyers from a large firm suing Dolan, even though the lawyers ejected had no involvement in the case.

Hiring David Greene as the host of this express train to deranged entitlement takes a steady hand. Too caustic and demeaning, and the host comes off as mean-spirited toward the subject, James Dolan. Too soft, and Dolan appears to get a free pass for exquisite pettiness and bullying behavior.

David Greene is a true pro. He handles the Dolan story with a perfect dosage of humor, snark, and natural curiosity about what powers the ego of James Dolan.

Greene is now the host of KCRW's Left Right & Center (LRC), a well-established politics podcast that is appropriately billed as "The civilized yet provocative antidote to the self-contained opinion bubbles that dominate political debate."

I highly recommend Reign Of Error for several reasons. First, the tale about James Dolan is a cautionary story about the serious consequences of an America where economic inequality gives birth to entitled man-boys like James Dolan, Jeffrey Epstein, Elon Musk, et al. Second, Greene excels as the host, hitting his three-point jump shot of conclusions and insights at a higher rate than Steph Curry. 

Finally, the five-part podcast series leads listeners down this dark road of dysfunction until you say, "There's no way James Dolan could do something more egregious than this." 

And then he does.  

The last episode focuses on efforts to get Dolan to sell the NBA's Knicks to an owner who will restore it to its former glory.

Hello stormers! I figured I would start off with one of my most popular post; A Complete List of Questions in Bastille Songs. As a Bastille fan, you’ve probably asked yourself How many questions does Bastille have in their songs? Is Dan Smith okay? And today, u/thedoomdays and I will be attempting to answer one of those questions! Together we spend about 3.5 hours counting every question in everything from Annie Oakley Hanging to Doom Days. We didn’t include how many times a question was asked, but rather how many different questions were asked. Covers, remixes, and other things of that sort were not included in our total. Slow Descent: Ch 1: Not Looking for Trouble (Aren't You Though?)

Day 1 entry for @hatchetober

The sun has long since set over Hatchetfield. The darkness weighs heavily over the town and beyond. In Oakley Park, there aren't even any lights to illuminate the space. Which makes sense, seeing as it closes at sunset.

Despite this, a shiny red 2019 Corvette Stingray sits in the small parking lot. The Kansas license plate suggests the owner doesn't know any better. Which is impressive, given the signs posted that state the park's hours. Not that the locals need the signs. The locals of Hatchetfield know better than to be this close to the Witchwood this late at night.

Arlen Mercier hikes his bag higher on his shoulder as he approaches the treeline. The beam from his flashlight illuminates the trunks of the trees and the ground in front of him. Crickets chirp loudly, almost as if in warning. He glances up at the night sky, noting the new moon, before walking into the forest.

He had just moved to Hatchetfield a month or so ago, in search of inspiration for his next novel. Sure, his fantasy adventure books were fun to write and sold well, but he wanted a challenge. Based on box office sales and tumblr posts, his target demographic seemed to be into horror.

He heard about Hatchetfield from a few fans, noting the town name on the return addresses of letters. It seemed like such a silly name for a town. Hatchetfield? Is that where you go to bury the hatchet? He had tweeted under his pen name of Claire Merren. The responses he received from fans who lived there, though, intrigued him. He read about their stories, urban legends and conspiracy theories, feeling drawn to the island town. A few days browsing the web and some phone calls later, he had purchased a house in a neighborhood called Pinebrook.

Tonight though, tonight is the first night he's gotten to do any investigating after asking around town. The Witchwood caught his attention after a brief conversation with a young girl with pigtail braids and dark, serious eyes. She caught sight of him outside of Lakeside Mall and had immediately become distressed. "Witchwood," she had muttered, glancing at the teenager in a Toy Zone vest at her side before looking pointedly at him again. "Apple… Dark…"

He had tried to approach her, to ask what she meant, but the teen had glared at him before hurrying the girl away.

Arlen finds himself in a clearing after several minutes of hiking over gnarled roots and unruly underbrush. The girl had been right about two things: it was dark and he was in the Witchwood. He shines the light around, slowly spinning in a circle as he moves to the middle of the clearing. He stops dead as two horrifying realizations hit him.

One: He doesn't know which way he came from.

Two: The crickets have stopped chirping.

He takes a deep breath, trying to keep himself calm. He looks around, trying to find some sort of sign or marker to have magically appeared to guide him back to the park.

Crunch

Arlen freezes, swallowing nervously at the sound. That wasn't a twig snapping. That sounded like-

"Well, well, well, who do we have here?" A low gravelly voice asks

Stumbling back, Arlen shines the light towards the sound of the voice. There stands a man dressed entirely in denim. The light reflects off the pins on his jacket. His dark hair is slicked back from his face, dark eyes glinting maliciously. In his hand is a green apple with a single bite taken out of it.

Panic begins to rise in his chest. "Wh-who are you?!" He demands in a shaky voice.

"Oh, I think the more important question is who are you?" The man looks him up and down. "Not from Hatchetfield, that much is for certain."

Arlen blinks. "How could you possibly know that?"

Somehow, the man's grin grows even wider. "Cause I know Hatchetfield. It's a mold, y'see, makes a very specific type of person." He tilts his head, eyes narrowing as he takes another bite of his apple. "...and you're not it," he says through a mouthful of apple.

Where to even begin with this. "Look, I don't want any trouble-"

The forest around him erupts with high pitched screams of laughter, making it almost impossible to hear the man's low rumbling laugh. There's something else, a single, almost hiccuping laugh underneath all of the other noises that seems to resonate through the forest.

"You don't want any trouble?" The man snickers, eyes burning with sadistic glee. "You came to Hatchetfield of all places and you expect me to believe you don't want any trouble?" He sneers. He begins to cross the clearing slowly, headed directly for Arlen.

He needs to run, needs to get away from whoever this man is. As he takes a step back, his flashlight begins dimming and flickering. Arlen curses. He just put new batteries in it before coming out.  He hits it against the heel of his hand, desperately trying to get the light to come back. He glances up to see the man getting closer and closer, his lips curled in an arrogant smirk.

Witchwood. He glances around at the trees as he backs up.

Apple. His eyes fall to the green skin of the fruit in the man's hand.

Dark. His flashlight flickers one last time before plunging him in total darkness.

The next morning, the soft sunlight filters through the branches of the trees. Deep in the heart of the Witchwood, a clearing seems to glow from the light filling it. It appears undisturbed, aside from a single green apple on the ground, placed, somehow, exactly in the middle of the clearing.

As a whole, the Drysdale clan has a thing for Disney but what about the other fandoms?

Who's a Potterhead? Who wishes they could be a Jedi? Buffy? Teen wolf? DC? I realize there are a lot to choose from.

I had this idea in my head that at least one of the grandkids is a Potterhead and was thoroughly convinced that Uncle Owin was actually Hagrid. (As playful as Owin sounds, he went along with it. Maybe even dressed up as him for Halloween as part of a group costume?)

OH MY GOSH!!!!  I Love this ask!  So yes, Disney in general is a big thing, and they have been known to do group costumes.  So let’s go family through family, because we got some nerds up in this family!

Aster & Beck This should honestly come to no surprise but Beck loves sci-fi anything.  Star Wars, Star Trek, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Alien, etc.  The problem is...he likes to call out mistakes in some movies.  Aster doesn’t care and doesn’t get too into it.  As long as her people are happy, she’s happy.  But with Disney, she’ll get down.  Ellie is a Potterhead with her bestie Otto.  She’s a Hufflepuff.  Atlas and Orion just do whatever their dad does.

Iris & James Iris is a musical fan, so not necessarily into fandoms.  However, James is an Indiana Jones fan, Harrison Ford in general.  So even he is a big Star Wars fan, the original trilogy, and he nerds out with Beck.  When Iris showed up dressed as Princess Leia as a slave, he was a happy man.  Posie is into the Vampire Diaries because of that she’s also a big Twilight fan, even though she thinks it’s cheesy.  She can’t help it.  Poppy is big on Disney, but she prefers Disney-Pixar and is a big fan of Merida from Brave.  That also go her into the Hunger Games.  Thorne it’s hard to sit him done long enough to get into a fandom.  You’ve got his attention for about twenty minutes.  Oakley, whatever his dad is watching.  He’ll sit with James in his lap for hours.

Blade & Lo There’s very few fandoms that Blade AND Lo haven’t dabbled in.  Video games, comics, movies, shows, they love it all.  Cosplay time, they’re dressing up majorly.  You name it, they’ve tried it.  Blade is a Ravenclaw, and Lo is a Hufflepuff.

Story & Carter Carter is going to do whatever his wife wants him to do.  She’s dragged him into a lot of fandoms, and their family almost always does a group costume.  Story is a big fan of some 80s movies though.  Princess Bride, Lost Boys, Labyrinth, Legend, The Goonies, The Dark Crystal.  But any movie that has a fairy tale twist to it, and Narnia (or vampires) she’s into it.  She loves her some Buffy, True Blood, Twilight, Vampire Diaries all of it.  Story also has a favorite actor, Brad Pitt.  Otto is a Potterhead, he’s a Gryffindor, but he could have been a Slytherin, he fancies himself like Harry.  Zephyr wants to be outside, he’s another that has a short attention span for anything past the one movie.  Archer is a Batman fan, he also loves Teen Titan.  Brooks is another Ravenclaw, but he loves Karate Kid and Cobra Kai.  Raiden is a big Stranger Things fan, like HUGE but he’s also all about football.

Lucy & Chris Chris is no surprise a big dork.  He’s a bit like Blade and Lo.  Chris is a Hufflepuff who fell in love with a Slytherin.  Chris is also big into Tolkien and has a few Elfish tattoos, and it’s one of the few things that Lucy can get into with him.  Lucy is a horror fan.  She loves even the cheesy horror movies, but she’s a sucker for old Universal Monster movies.  Foxley is a Disney princess girl, she does get a bit into Hunger Games, because she likes a bow, but she’s pretty much a princess girl.  

Owin would 100% dress up as anything that would make the kids happy!  He’s a big kid and goes right along with it.  Opie is like that too!
