Thank you so much for replying to my previous ask in such detail (I loved it and really, really appreciate your efforts 🙏)
I just started rewatching the anime and I saw the focus they kept on Lisanna hence my doubt. From Erza I felt it was more of a sibling type dynamic (that Erza sees Natsu and Gray more as her younger brothers) but they really pushed the Lisanna narrative in the beginning. And given the way he reacted differently to Lucy and Lisanna like becoming flustered with Lisanna I wondered.
Please do talk about the killing himself part too.
I love reading your analysis!! Thank you so much for your hard work ❣️ (Feel free to push in NaLu scenes that show it their bond more obviously)
Hi!! I'm happy you liked it, I'm going to try and talk about Natsu and Lisanna a little bit more and then I'll start with the whole killing himself thing. (following this post)
I think the reason they focused on Natsu and Lisanna at the beginning is because a lot of studios/mangakas have the need to create a couple, even better if it's an MC. And pairing Lucy and Natsu up from the beginning doesn't make any sense, they just met and didn't know each other.
Lisanna is a really important person to Natsu, although they hardly interact anymore.
She supported Natsu when he first came to the guild and became his first friend. Not only that, she helped him with Happy, hence the whole wife and husband thing, they represented a family.
Natsu is not as stupid as they make him out to be, he knows what marriage is, exclusivity to a partner
and things only adults are supposed to do.
He knew what Lisanna meant by "we'll get married in the future," and if she had never "died," NaLi would have made sense.
But it happend, Lisanna "died" and Natsu had to get over her. This doesn't mean forget her tho, as I said, Natsu LOVES his family and friends, forgetting about lisanna just because she died would not make any sense. It takes time to accept death, and after Igneel's disappearance, the death of lisanne hit him, HARD.
The only thing he could do was getting over her, but not forgetting her.
And that's when Lucy comes into the picture.
She keeps bumping into him, buys him food for "no reason" and talks all mighty and good about his family, basically, she gives him good vibes. He takes her to FT and for some reason she follows him everywhere and before he knows it, he wants to partner up with her.
This is development by natsu's part, he is ready to open up to new people (Lucy) and pretty much they become attached to the hip, because "she is nice", yeah, that's his reason.
Lisanna wasn't meant to come back, mashima himself said so, the only reason they brought her back was because the animation staff preasured him to because they liked her. NaLi is not happening because Mashima never had anything planned for her, and I'm not saying this because I'm a NaLu fan, it's just facts. Thats why she is so useless in the manga, because mashima doesn't know what to do with her. She is just there.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Let's beging with the whole suicide thing
I want to clarify that this is MY PERSPECTIVE, you might agree or disagree with me and thats completely fine.
Let me beging with one thing, and that is that natsu IS NOT SUICIDAL.
He wants to live his life at the fullest and he looks forward to the future.
Then why do I say he wanted to kill himself? because when lucy "died", he was so full of grief that he just didn't care any more.
One thing that they make clear is that the demons of zeref, once awaken, have only one thought in their minds: KILLING ZEREF
Lucy's "death" is what awoke END, Natsu felt so desperate and he was so full of grief that he literally abandoned his humanity.
She was gone and he blamed zeref, because if he had never started the war, she would be alive, that was enough for him to abandon his morals and look forward to kill someone.
Now comes the important part: his confrontation with grey
This part is really important because it shows that Natsu is aware of his actions.
If he really was completely possessed by END, then he would not have hesitated and warn grey about getting out of his way, he would have just killed him and keep going, but Natsu warns him several times
Until he doesn't give a damn anymore and attacks him.
Natsu was adamant about going after zeref and killing him, but he is also aware that if he does so, he will die. Zeref told him so himself.
But lucy is dead, so he just doesn't care anymore.
Igneel talked to him about looking at the future
But Lucy wasn't in that future anymore, so he can't look forward for it, because it died the moment Lucy did. if she wasn't in it, why bother? He knew that killing zeref was killing himself.
Gray literally saved Natsus life confronting him
This whole panel is foreshadowing to Lucy dying and Natsu wanting to die because of it

Natsu does NOT have any previous experience with romantic love
This is the (better) Tumblr version of my post from Twitter. Given the format of this website, I'll add some details to what's already written.
Before starting with this, I want to clarify that the motivation to write this post has little to do with nalu itself (it will be mentioned to highlight a point though). Having previous romantic partners DOESN'T really make any ship invalid. You'll find the actual reason behind this essay under the cut below.
This is about how Natsu, as a character, is never presented or seen by others as someone who has experience with love and such idea is never hinted or implied anywhere in the canon material. This lack of experience explains why Lucy thinks he has no interest in it.
As we will see later, Lucy isn't the only one who thinks like this... Let's get started.
Year 2024. Why writing all this? Some weeks ago I was involved in a discussion about whether Natsu was being OOC during a filler (non canon) scene of the anime where he snaps at Lucy in a way he never does with any of his friends in canon material. The discussion led to this...
I didn't want to assume that this person was taking Lisanna as some kind of first love. At the end it turned out that was exactly what was happening. The proof? The most platonic reunion ever... with Happy reacting the same way as Natsu and comedy being included. It is important to highlight that Mashima never makes two people between whom there have been romantic feelings reunite like this, with comedy references in between that downplays the seriousness of the moment to some extent. While this post is about Natsu and his feelings, I could also mention Lisanna's reaction to this, something that proves that there wasn't even a one sided love: after noticing this Natsu is the same one from her real dimension, she doesn't start crying because of him but because of her siblings.
Let's ignore the part where this dude started calling me and some other users "retards" because that speaks volumes for itself about his lack of real arguments. After all, he has been fighting for at least 4 years with teens over power scaling, a topic he may seem to be knowledgeable about but actually isn't so much, plus he has been banned from at least one Discord server because of his r4pe threats. It seems this individual was so obsessed with that specific thing that he said Zeref did it to Mavis and that's how August was made... That also speaks volumes about his media literacy and the fact that even if it's true that he did read the manga so many times as he claimed during this discussion, he has serious problems with reading as a normal person. When it comes to the topic of this post, the problem is that he has some influence within the fandom, at least on Twitter, so whatever he says is something that many of his followers will start repeating.
What does Mashima do when Lisanna finally comes back to her original home and she gets a proper reunion with everyone?
After the initial shock from seeing Edo Lisanna in Earthland and the big reveal, this is how Natsu reacts.
This isn't a reunion that suggests that Lisanna is special compared to everyone else in the guild, and particulary to those who grew around Natsu. Also, we can't say Mashima just doesn't know how to write such scene properly... because he's written it at least once (in Rave).
The emotion you can feel in this scene, the way ONLY both lovers are on the spotlight and the rest of their friends are in the background until the end... Well, the difference is so obvious that it's ridiculous to say more. Given how well Mashima handles the emotional dimension of his characters in his mangas, the possibility that he didn't know how to depict two lovers who got separated from each for some time due to circumstances beyond their control is off the table.
Also, notice how the end of the Edolas arc depicts this.
The difference with her reunion with Natsu and the others is so obvious that there's no need to say more.
We can also discard Lisanna as a former love interest because there's no akwardness between them once she's back to the guild. They can be seen playing together and briefly interacting from time to time, so it's not like they're avoiding each other.
Is it implied somewhere that they had something beyond friendship? Not in any kind of canon material. Every time Lisanna is mentioned in regards to Natsu she's presented as a close childhood friend. We have, for example, her profile from one of the first chapters where she's back home and the information of the official magazine that was released 10 years ago.
But what if they simply stopped loving each other due to being separated, as a fellow nalu shipper told me on Discord? Making characters fall out of love is something that Mashima also references (see Macao pic a bit below). It also goes against what we saw regarding Erza and Jellal, who still had romantic feelings for each other despite their antagonistic positions for many years, or against the whole Zeref and Mavis thing. In other Mashima mangas we have more couples like this. Elsie and Justice still loved each other despite being sworn enemies, and Let still loved Julia (and vice versa) when he discovered she was alive, a kinda similar scenario to Natsu and Lisanna if they had been lovers. Given that Natsu and Lisanna weren't even enemies to each other at any point and they were only separated for two years, we can't say they had something canonically and they simply got over it with no actual reference to it.
There was a very good moment to reference past feelings in 100YQ: when Touka includes Lisanna in the group of women "around Natsu".
Instead of offering us a comment like "it's not like that anymore", Lisanna just says something that implies they're not that close. After all, Natsu is hanging out with his team most of the time since it was established.
What's the reason this fandom has been so many years discussing about this friendship? Because the first anime adaptation goes beyond that friendship and the manga omake where both of them take care of Happy's egg, something Lisanna decides to help with because she loves animals and she felt Natsu wouldn't do it properly. The first season includes several fillers that pave the way for a love triangle, presenting Lisanna as a girl who is VERY interested in marrying Natsu when they're adults. In addition, Happy is presented as their son, something that totally goes against the source material. Even if Natsu is the one who saw Happy be born and was living with him since then, Happy is never considered as his son and is always called a nakama/companion/friend.
This long thread has everything that A-1 and Satelight added in regards to Natsu and Lisanna. As we can see in the info provided in one of the first tweets, Mashima let them "edit" the story the way they wanted to and it's mentioned explicitely by both him and Ishihara (the director) that Ishihara is responsible for those additions, not Mashima. We also can't say the additions were something Mashima asked for because he couldn't include everything he wanted in his manga for some reason. This is supported by the fact that Lisanna is never presented in the manga as any kind of romantic interest after she comes back.
There's also this tweet from 2012 where Mashima replied to someone asking him whether he was involved in the story of the anime. His answer is no.
It's also important to say that these fillers aren't canon: they're not referenced in the source material (the starry key arc was, even if Mashima wasn't involved in the writing), they're not referenced in the anime itself after Lisanna comes back and they have no impact in the events of the story during and after Edolas.
Currently, thanks to Mashima's Twitter Spaces, we know two things: he revived Lisanna because some people in the anime staff liked her (Ishihara is one of them for sure), which explains why she's not very relevant and is always tied to her siblings, and he once considered to include a love triangle between Natsu, Lucy and Lisanna after Edolas, but he liked Natsu and Lucy's dynamic by then enough to not introduce such storyline. He also said Lisanna was "だめ" in regards to that triangle that never came to be, implying that she would have been the one that doesn't get the boy in that scenario.
So is Lisanna our supposed former love interest? As far as the canon material goes, no. Was she close to Natsu? Yes. Is she dear to him? Yes, just like everyone in his family, the guild, is (I can't believe I'm writing this in fking 2024). Now, what if there was someone else? The assumption that characters may have dated another (unnamed) character offscreen isn't totally crazy. After all we saw how Juvia dated Bora, even if it was a narrative tool to show that not even dates would make Juvia stop being depressed. However, we can't say there was someone else as more than a headcanon unless it's implied or mentioned somewhere explicitely. We know Macao was married but got divorced thanks to the official magazine, for example.
When it comes to Natsu, nothing is ever mentioned.
100YQ, the official FT sequel, has several pannels that go against the whole idea of Natsu being experienced with romantic love. As I mentioned at the beginning, even others from the guild, and especifically Macao in this pannel, who knows Natsu since he was a kid, have a hard time believing he's interested in love.
This part of the story includes a very interesting pannel that also debunks the whole idea that Natsu felt more than frienship for Lisanna before she was transported to Edolas.
Why would Lisanna's brother react like this over such comment if Natsu and his sister had romantic feelings in the past? Easy: because those feelings never existed.
Even Lisanna is a bit surprised when Touka expresses her interest in him.
Previous romantic experience would also mean that Natsu's relationship with Lucy would be more advanced than it is as of now, not to mention this recent scene.
Natsu is still quite dense with romance, even when it doesn't involve him, and while he talks about his and Lucy's kids they still have a long way to go due to his total inexperience in this area as of now. Someone with past love experiences wouldn't be like this. I could say more about this but this isn't the post for it so...
Conclussion: the first season of the anime did a lot of damage that resulted in many years of discussions, fights, misogyny towards both Lucy and Lisanna. There was no childhood or teen love, no jealousy from Lisanna when she saw how close Natsu and Lucy were as a team and nothing suggests that Lisanna was more than a friend in canon material. Claiming the opposite at this point of the story is useless.

You know I feel like I should clarify that all my comparisons about Fairytail and My Hero Academia are mostly due to the weirdly similar ways the world has talked about these shows. Fairytail was always the punching bag for big anime channels and dudebros. It was always so disregard and people were also a bit put off by a good bit of the fandom. It just suddenly click one day that MHA was the new anime punching bag. Which is haliarous when fairytail suddenly started getting defenders and those videos would then make small jabs at mha.
And it's the one shonen I know a lot about so I can pull common anime tropes or just see any little comparison and freak out. And if Mashima does one thing right it's the way he wrote the relationship between the two MCs, so of course I'm gonna talk how these tropes are used and make an analysis. I can't help but yap when I find a comparison on some of the best written relationships (romantic/ platonic) done by two of my favorite peices of media. Or look at Ochako through the lens of how Lucy was handled.
Anyway all to say that if anyone ever does fine my bkdk and nalu comparison or any mha analysis that I brought fairytail under werid this is why. They are cery different but when tropes and fandom around both are similar I think its interesting to talk about these smilarites. I love my two internet punchingbags but I'm so happy MHA didn't have to wait years after it was over for people to start defending it.
#fairy tail#mha#bakudeku#nalu#shouts of the void#no one said it was werid btw but i saw some people complain about comparison of bkdk to another ship#and it made me think that huh i wonder if people find it weird my whole nalu and bkdk thruthing#truely they are very different but the topes and culture around both is so similar#and i have been waiting to talk more about that in general

Growth, and Trauma in Fairytail
I love fairytail with all of my heart unfortunately it’s my special interest so I’ve overanalysed the hell out of this series and one thing I have noticed with mashima’s writing is the way characters process their trauma. (This post will contain anime spoilers) ALSO TRIGGER WARNING FOR S AND VIOLENCE
Aka, non-existent. For the most part at least. However there are some exceptions to this like with Gray. With characters like Gray, it’s very clear to see why and how he copes with traumatic events take what happened to Ur as example. Gray believes Ur’s death was his own fault (my guess is probably because he was the one who brought up the deliora situation to her causing her to come to rescue him but as a result having to nope out if life), as a result he believes he doesn’t deserve to live as it ‘should’ve been him’. His actions show this as early as Galuna island arc with our boy using iced shell against Lyon. And multiple other times, he always tries to dish out that spell as a sacrifice because he believes his life is worth nothing more.
This is proof that mashima can and does write trauma well sometimes however his writing can also pale in comparison like with the death of igneel. Specially in the Alvarez arc. Natsu was absolutely traumatised by what had happened and we can see this with him running off for a year with happy. He needed his alone time and yet once he returns its as if nothing had happened, he’s his same old smiley silly self. If you told me to look for the differences in natsu’s character between the first episode and the final season, I would have a very very hard time. There was no growth to his character apart from getting ‘stronger’, we don’t get to see how he comes to terms with the fact his one life goal is void or how he deals with the aftermath of tartaros. Afterwards he is back to his smiley goofy self again like nothing ever happened. There’s no signs at all of Natsu even being affected by it apart from getting stronger. His one life goal is now six feet under ground and he has no visible signs of being depressed over that. He’s capable of smiling, being happy, and his usual self. Even during alvarez arc he’s just as fearless and unchanged as ever. During the alvarez arc Natsu had come face to face with this killer once again and instead of showing any signs of fear at all he looks acnologia in the eyes and takes him head on as if he were a weaker oponent or something.
Realistically acnologia should have terrified natsu. Just like how natsu had been afraid of gildarts seeing his raw power, and acnologia is ten times stronger than gildarrs. Especially considering that dragon had KILLED natsu’s dad. Ripping him in half right in front of him, someone Natsu probably viewed as the strongest and indestructible torn apart just like paper. I understand everyone processes trauma differently but we’ve SEEN first hand Natsu showing fear to stronger opponents like Gildarts. So why is it that all of a sudden when Natsu is faced with acnologia in person once more there is no signs of fear, no memories of the trauma, no nothing rather this cookie cutter hero moment again. Where he takes aconologia on as if he were a weaker foe, even laughing to himself and making witty remarks. We’ve seen at the face of truly terrifying power Natsu shrivels up into a stuttering sweating mess. So it doesn’t make any sense that he feels nothing seeing acnologia again. Saying he did the healing during the one year time skip through tartaros doesn’t even make sense because he challenged gildarts to a fight during the manga and you can see him shrivel up in fear unable to speak once more as soon as gildarts destroys a mountain to save him.
Natsu can feel fear. Yet why not with acnologia? Someone who should have traumatised him.
This happens so many times throughout the series. Trauma being swept under the rug like its just another tuesday. I dont get why he can write trauma fine with Gray, but when it comes to people like Lucy or Natsu suddenly its void.
I just wish the characters in this series were given more growth but time and time again it feels like im watching the same characters from episode one over and over again.
But anyway that’s just my two cents on fairytails writing of trauma. This is my first real post on tumblr so it’s probably dogwater, but yeah im open to hearing other peoples thoughts on this and thank you for reading this low effort post.

hi hi! i'm v-mo, the one behind "natsu's smart moments" posts! i've seen some of your posts and i enjoy them!!! and also you liked some of mine, so i wondered, do you have any thoughts on them? maybe there is some things i missed, or you have some advice to me?🥺🥺🥺
i'm just a little anxious about posting in fairy tail fandom, i haven't interacted with it for a very, VERY long time
so, yeah!
hope you have a good morning/day/evening/night!!
Hi!!! Gosh I’m so flattered you’re coming to me for evaluation🥹 Even if I’m 100% sure you’re covering more than I could even think of (I do however find it hilarious that team Natsu is just a herd of sheep that Natsu tries to keep from sacrificing themselves) (laughed very hard at that lol)
Lisanna was supposed to die and not come back, so her being beaten down to the bone is, just as you say, unlikely that she survived without problems. I live her but the animation team was foul for making Mashima brig her back to life
(That’s not about Natsu being smart, I realise, but you’ve covered that so well that I just read and nod along) (and I see now that you mentioned it in the tags😭 sorry I’m not the sharpest knife in the box)
Natsu is a very active person in general, so anything that gets him moving, is stuff that gets his brain into motion too. Fighting someone and using smell, sound, touch, experimenting with eating etherion (crystallised magic) and diving head first into things, gets him going.
A lot of people (me included) take the fact that he isn’t very analytical when it comes to emotions, and grab the “dumb” marker and starts putting it all over him. But even when he isn’t analytical, he still notices and cares for other people’s emotions. The fact that he’s rowdy, easygoing and has a bright demeanour shouldn’t result in getting called emotionally constipated.
He is emotionally constipated, but not for those reasons (his unresolved identity crisis however, howdy!)
Anyways I hope this sufficed as some insight! Natsu is such a complicated character to me bc it’s so hard to clock his intelligence. He CAN be smart and mindful and caring, but it’s like he has a block on himself that catches himself before he confronts his own feelings about it. Classic case of Emotion Bad But Anger Not Emotion ☝🏼🤠

Personally I am not really a gruvia or graylu fan because I feel like gray with either of these ladies is a bit of a disaster. He doesn't treat juvia as a human being most of the time considering her affections are overbearing. And with lucy, it's kind of sad that alot of there 'moments' have sexual inutations like him always seeing her undressed and commenting gross things about it. Also the gemini moment isn't canon bc it wasn't in the manga. And Juvia deserves better character development.
I agree with you in regards to Juvia deserving better character development. I wish we had more of her discovering things about herself instead of her entire character revolving around her infatuation with Gray. She has such incredible potential, but instead we just get to see her as a "love pairing" for Gray, and it was all done so horribly wrong. Such a strong character such as her shouldn't have been reduced to a forced love interest.
In regards to GrayLu having "sexualized" moments, there are far more that are not sexualized than there are.
Considering how sexualized NaLu is - a canon couple - any other couple's sexualized interactions pale in comparison. But that's Mashima's writing and fanservice unfortunately. You have to take the good with the bad in that regard.
And anything in the anime that's not considered "canon" has to be taken with a grain of salt. Mashima has stated that he has enjoyed the work that the studio put into filler episodes and movies so much he just declared them canon, and some of them had even been done under collaboration with Mashima. So "canon" is somewhat of a subjective term here.
But that's the beauty of fandom - we can both like & dislike different character and pairings, and that's okay! <3

Lucy Heartfilia and Compassion
So while casually thinking about my favorite anime, Fairy Tail, I realized something. This isn’t abnormal as I tend to notice things every once in a while whether or not they are intentional. This time around I noticed that, considering what she goes through in every single arc (this girl cannot catch a single break), Lucy Heartfilia still retains her compassion and kindness for strangers and enemies.
You could chalk this up to bad writing on Mashima’s part, which I would not complain about. I do adore Mashima’s writing but it isn’t perfect. However, I would like to suggest that it fits well with the themes of Fairy Tail. The importance of friendship and family weigh heavily through the series with the main focus being the Guild Hall and the bond of the people within the guild.
The extent of this theme goes even to the villains, where we see countless times either they care for each other, are neutral but are after a similar objective, or they actively do not work well and are injuring each other. Of course the first and last work the best when in a story such as this but I am getting ahead of myself. To get back on track... Through the entire anime we learn the backstory to each of the main characters and some others a part of Fairy Tail. If we focus on the main five; Natsu Dragneel, Lucy Heartfilia, Erza Scarlet, Gray Fullbuster, and Wendy Marvell (sorry Happy and Carla) we can see that each have had personal obstacles that range in emotional impact on their character. Apart from Natsu and Wendy, who have tame back stories (that they remember) compared to the rest, Lucy is definitely the more tame. She was never against some giant demon and was never a slave, both of which ended up hurting and killing others by their actions. Lucy ended up having a peaceful beginning and was a high class girl with a big future ahead of her if all had gone according to plan. Since this is Fairy Tail, and a Shonen manga, nothing comes easy. Her mother died young and thus Lucy was left with an abusive father who and no care for her after her mother’s passing. She had no friends other than the spirits that her mother passed to her when she was on her deathbed. When Lucy was finally able to escape at roughly sixteen, she was able to find Fairy Tail who became her replacement family. In the meantime, Lucy also had been abused in some way in each arc (whether its fighting someone she cares about, sexual harassment and public humiliation, or quite literally being tortured), lost her father that she finally started to build a relationship to once again, lost her doll that was another connection to her mother, lost Aquarius, and even her guild. Yet the biggest thing that sticks with Lucy through all of this is her compassion, the main topic of this post that took oh so long to get to the point of. Lucy still has compassion for enemies and those that hurt her the most. She never has grudges that last long, apart from her father with understandable reasons. However, she even began building that bond again in her last moments and seemed to still have a heart for him. This is shown, of course, when he makes her way to Love & Lucky to protect her father when she believes he is a victim in a hostage situation. This isn’t the case and he is safe, but she still had the heart to put aside her feelings and do what was right. Minerva, who tortured Lucy and put her through immense humiliation and almost killed her if it wasn’t for Chelia and Wendy, was also forgiven by her actions. Lucy passes it as water under a bridge and they were trying to do right for their guild, but this is still a big moment to show Lucy’s kindness. Lucy is shown on more than one occasion to protect the guild, even from the very start, and how big her heart truly is. She could have absorbed it all and became a person similar to her counter in Edolas, but even more cold hearted. She had every right to be angry at Natsu for abandoning her and hardly put any pressure when it was shown she was genuinely upset. She never even let anyone know that Aquarius was gone. In my eyes, Lucy Heartfilia is one of the best characters in Fairy Tail. Once a character seen as purely for sexualization, which still is the case in a few instances, Lucy showcases some of the most important themes of Fairy Tail in her actions and how she continues forward. She is one of the most deserving of the Fairy Tail guild mark. Oh boy that was a long post but I hope I got my point across. As I said in the beginning, I think of these concepts all the time and I am really interested to make more posts about Fair Tail and why it is so great in many aspects. Let me know your opinions and go ahead and post any suggestions for me to cover in the future!
See you later in the Deep End!

100 year quest has completely flipped Gary’s character it’s awful. No one seems like themselves and the power scaling is ridiculous but I’d say Gray’s character was completely assassinated. I think Mashima has no idea what to do with the character and is just ‘dragons and boobs!’.
I don’t consider any of 100yq canon. At all.
Also nothing wrong with dub. Personally I watch with subtitles except for when I want to listen to it while doing something else (and as a kid I watched with the dub so it’s nostalgic with ft).
People are allowed to like things without looking at supplemental or sequel material. That’s what’s great about fan fiction , about opinions in general. That anon is ridiculous.
ive heard ppl say that so many times that i literally cannot even attempt to read it,, i feel like itd read as some sort of bad fanfiction instead of canon media yk?
some people get so protective over fictional media that it can be hard to post hcs and aus and youre own depictions on events/characters without making it as generalized or close to canon as possible
also i never really understood why ppl can care so much about how other people consume media??? I like sub as much as i like dub its just a matter of connivence
You’re absolutely right in that last paragraph, some people just act like they have some sort of superiority bc they read manga/book instead of watching the anime/show/movie, or for watching is sub rather than dub when in reality it really is not that deep. We’re still consuming the same material
Thats also why i love fandom works too, i love seeing different interpretations and reactions to media. Its crazy how mych hate people can get for simply enjoying something enough to publicly post about it
#accurate as in straight from the original source#i hope i made sense#fairy tail#sun strickens ft#sun stricken answers#ty anon for being so kind#the other anon wasnt even rude it just kinda embarrassed me#for no reason#bit of a ramble tbh

While I'm thinking about Fairy Tail, now I gotta rant...just a touch. Besides the lack-luster ending, there's just so many things that were dropped or not explored to their fullest potential that definitely still could have been in the final arc if Mashima hadn't been so intent on getting to the end so he could start on his FT Space AU, aka Eden's Zero, instead. And, yes, I know there's some kind of sequel coming at some point, but honestly I doubt it will bring up any of these things (partly because some of them it just... feels too late to bring up again.)
There are definitely more than just these, but I haven't dedicatedly watched since before it finished airing and these are the things that came to mind in rewatching the Galuna Island and Avatar arcs of things that are just. never explained. at all:
Demons are more common than people obviously realize and not all of them are just giant rampaging monsters. After Galuna, this is never brought up again.
What. is the black stuff. on Gray. Like, it's an obvious side effect of his Demon Slaying Power Up, but it's just never actually explained. At all. What is it? How did he get it under control? What even was there to get under control that was causing that???? Also. Left out of the anime (iirc) but present in the manga: the eye thing. Happened once, never brought up ever again. I have. So many questions.
The other 17 gods and the god slayers. During the Avatar arc, Erza comments that the one summoned is one of 18. This is never brought up again. Also just. everything to do with god slayers. Nothing is ever explained or expounded on. They're just. there.
Aaaaand here's a bonus two things he really could have just. done better on. and completely missed a golden opportunity:
That one year gap? Could have taken the time to make Juvia into less of a creepy stalker, but NOPE. No character development in sight. For real, if she had ever stopped being creepy then maybe I could have shipped it, but after a while it wasn't even just enduring anymore. It was annoying. And that one-year skip could have taken the opportunity to fix that. They lived together for six months. That absolutely could have been enough time for her take off those rose-colored glasses and get to him better. But Nope. Still just Creepy.
I will give Mashima the benefit of the doubt on this one because maybe he was planning more for this, but also... wouldn't it have been better to never bring in god slayers and instead use that as set up for demon slayers instead? Like, god slayers are never really utilized, and Gray is the only known demon slayer (besides his dad, of course). The GMG arc could have been good set up for Gray instead of bringing up more Questions about a sub-set of mages that are never answered. (Again, hindsight is 20/20, I can give him the benefit of the doubt that maybe he was planning more for them at the time and maybe hadn't even thought up demon slayers yet, so.)

Does Ueda not like Nalu? Or Natsu especially? Because Natsu always looks goofy with him, he constantly got that dumb expression and I really can’t stand to see it anymore. He wasn’t like that with Mashima, he actually had a serious expression on his face quite often or a genuine smile but with Ueda it’s basically fixed in that cartoony angry/dumb expression. And he doesn’t do anything with Nalu, they barely feel like they have anything special going on anymore, I hate it! I want development but I fear we’ll just get some dumb “they got together during a 5 year time skip” thing. Sorry for ranting, this really frustrates me 🙈
I’m personally not a big fan of how Ueda draws Natsu because I think he looks kinda goofy and he just doesn’t look like himself 😭😭
It’s really sad with Natsu and Lucy because they’re still close but since we get really short chapters we don’t get any interactions between them unless it’s really short and for some sort of short humour.
i think nalu will have their time later on in the storyline due to the foreshadowing with what happened with ignia and the water dragon god.
I’m also hoping when 100yq gets animated that we get longer scenes and hopefully more interactions.
I think it’s just a lot of wasted potential for Natsu and Lucy’s development (Yokai Lucy, Water dragon god, Edolas nalu) (also potential jealous Natsu???) idk I just really miss the way they were in the main series :(
(I don’t think Ueda hates nalu or Natsu I just think that they’re trying to develop the other ships firsts before Natsu and Lucy since I hope they will have their own big thing for development later on)

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!!
Not to be that person but ft fans need a reality check. I don't remember much of both anime (bc I have short term memory) but let me tell you sth. One piece handles friendship and family tropes wayyyyy better than fairy tail could ever be. I'm a fairy tail fan for 7 years and I have a love-hate relationship with the show. While one piece, I've been a fan for 3 years.
(warning: long rant and weird delivery writing)
I can agree that team natsu is stronger than the straw hat but does that make them well written? Absolutely not. I love natsu but I noticed that his goal wasn't clear. His goal is to find igneel, his dragon father, but the thing is that Igneel is rarely mentioned throughout the story.
"But natsu's goal is to protect his friends" but so does luffy. Luffy loves his friends and wants to be strong to protect them but what makes him interesting is his goal to become a pirate king. In order to become a pirate king, he needs to sail across the world to find the one piece.
Like every arc of one piece, luffy encounters problems such as wanting to help whatever people deserve to be saved because he is a good person and that is his goal. In the end, they achieve it and each of the straw hat has its own character development. Fairy tail on the other hand, doesn't have any goal for the each arc (they have some but not too beneficial)
In terms of friendship, I don't feel like fairy tail focuses on the relationship between characters. I don't know how to say this but one example I noticed is that the interaction between lucy and gray reduces throughout the plot because lucy now is always focused on natsu. I'm not saying it's a bad thing (although it is) but come on now. I know mashima would make nalu the end game but just because lucy romantically loves natsu, that doesn't mean she needs to revolve around him. And I have never seen carla interact with other characters besides wendy and happy. wait, I can't recall any memories of erza and gray interacting just the two of them without natsu but even if they had one, the interaction would revolve around love and juvia. But I do admit natsu & gray relationship and natsu & wendy sibling-like relationship are cute.
A good friendship is what brings the good in each other. The straw hat is so loyal to their crewmates and trusts them with their life after the adventure and hardship they went through. Plus the staw hat have a lot of moments between them compared to fairy tail.
I'm talking about team natsu in general but if I write about the guild oh boy it's gonna be long. I want to elaborate more but I think I need to reread the manga back to recover my memories. Kinda hope you understand what I'm saying.

What arc do you think would've been a great NaLu confession? I think the GMGS would've been a great confession Natsu confessing his feelings towards Lucy, she's didn't need to answer immediately just think about it for a few episodes, that's why I pefer fan fiction over the actual anime/manga it's just irritating to watch
FT SPOILERS AHEAD
In my opinion GMG is way too early for a confession, remember that they are friends before lovers.
I think that was the moment they started to realize how they felt about each other.
Natsu is someone who needs a wake-up call to realize things, and his wake-up call to his feelings for Lucy was the death of Future Lucy.
He realized that Lucy COULD die, her mortality hit him hard, there would be times when he just couldn't be her knight in shining armor and save her.
Lucy's journey with her feelings for Natsu is more subtle, because it progresses, it's not as violent as Natsu's.
I said it before, I think the perfect time for them to confess would have been right after defeating Agnologia, when the slayers fell from the sky and Natsu ended up on top of Lucy saying that "he was home."
I think Lucy should have been brave enough and kiss him at that moment, the war was over and they could relax.
Natsu and Lucy should have confessed because they experienced each other's deaths. That should have been a wake-up call as they realized that they could die and that they shouldn't waste any more time.
I like nalu because it feels natural, they go from strangers to partners/friends to best friends. It's not rushed, and thank the gods, but that doesn't mean that both of them are not idiots and that Mashima isn't trolling us.
Some things will never change.

Strauss siblings headcanons? I like all of them but I mean more focus on their relationship with each other. They have so much history and the potential for their developing (familial) feelings towards each other to be explored is ridiculous: before Mira’s arm was taken over, when they were travelling to find answers, when they were in the guild together learning takeover magic and Mira because S-Class eventually, when Elfman lost control of his full body beast soul and injured Lisanna before she ‘died’/went to Edolas against her will while Mira was overseeing them (it was an S-Class one and she was the only S-Class), when Lisanna was gone (but missing Earthland siblings while acting for her Edolas siblings) and Mira worked in customer service and admin type roles rather than use her magic while Elfman only used his arm as they all grieved, when Lisanna came back and Mira and Elfman were both using magic their magic to its full potential, after the 7 year timeskip (they were all on Tenrou) and then after the one year timeskip. Thanks so much. I love your Lisanna, Elfman and Mirajane appreciation posts.
Elfman is actually a lot stronger than his usual battles tend to imply. The Beast was a serious threat in its day, enough to have S-Class Mirajane so badly on the backfoot that she said herself she was getting beaten pretty badly. However, Elfman is still extremely cautious about how much he taps into his Beast Soul forms due to the experience of being unable to turn back and what happened to Lisanna. On raw power, he's definitely S-Class, but he holds back a lot due to restricting himself very stringently to what he knows is safe to use.
Speaking of Lisanna, the canon scenes imply (because Mashima had no plan when bringing her back) that when Anima took her as she was dying, she just...kind of glowed and turned into light particles, when it was previously implied Lisanna died on the spot and was buried. We're gonna tweak this slightly: Mirajane and Elfman actually buried Edolas Lisanna, who Anima swapped with Earthland Lisanna as they were both dying in unrelated incidents and who is actually the one Mirajane knelt with as she was dying.
All of the Strauss siblings are magnets for attention. Elfman and Lisanna are both a little dense about it and both unsure how to proceed when it's brought to their attention, but they have about the same amount of admirers as Mirajane. Strauss genes, man, they're just really pretty.
There are some secret Beast Souls Elfman's got access to but that's not for here or now. 🤍 I don't give away my fic plots that easily.
The whole family loves animals and I know that's already apparent but listen, there's never gonna be anyone you can trust more with animal care than Elfman and Lisanna. It's at least canon those two outright helped incubate/raise Happy, okay? They regularly volunteer at animal shelters, too, and anytime there's a mission involving animals, they take it.
Elfman is especially good friends with Natsu, Gajeel, and Laxus, while Lisanna is especially close to Wendy. Elfman, because he knows what it's like to share a part of yourself with a powerful entity that affects your body, and Lisanna because she's very serene and really gets Wendy's pacifistic nature, they're both very in touch with the natural world around them.
Lisanna has a natural aversion to Beast Soul and Demon Soul takeovers, she's simply too gentle for them. However, she is remarkably gifted with Take Over in general. She's able to rapidly chain different Take Over forms one after another when this would exhaust a lesser wizard, and can even mix-and-match certain elements of them.
Anyone wanting to date literally any Strauss sibling has to pass at least two checks, one from each remaining sibling. Elfman thinks he's the one who takes it most seriously and is most aggressive about it. He is not.
I'm glad you like my posts! 💚

Summer 2023 Anime-Round Up
A pretty mediocre season of anime tbh. But still some hidden gems to be found and appreciated. RIP to Zom 100 btw lmao. Anyway, here's the round up!
Anime of the Season: Bungou Stray Dogs 5th Season
Best Opening: Ao no Sumika (Jujutsu Kaisen S2)
Best Ending: Akari: (Jujutsu Kaisen S2)
Drops: Tenpuru, Liar Liar
Plans to Watch at a later date: Bang Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! , Dark Gathering, Spy Classroom Season 2
Completed:
Jobless Reincarnation: Season 2 - (6/10)
They told me that this season was just Rudeus trying to cure his ED. Too bad I didn't believe them. Not a fan of the "Solve my heartbreak over one of harem girls dumping me by finding another one of my harem girls" narrative that went on for 5 episodes more than it needed too. Unsure if I'll come back for more of this. After 3 cours of this show, I think I can confidently say I just don't like Rudeus.
Horimiya: Piece - (8/10)
Not every side-story worked for me, but most of them were pretty good. I just love how stupid and honest these kids are. Sometimes, the way anime glorifies high school life can be overbearing, but I can't help but wishing I enjoyed those days more whenever I watch this show. Gonna miss it.
Remi best girl.
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Arc Part 2 - (7/10)
Definitely felt the exhaustion I remembered when reading the manga. I'm not sure what's Kubo fascination with long strings of fights while the plot stands completely still. Didn't enjoy it during the Arrancar arc, not enjoying now. At least Squad 0 redeemed themselves (somewhat)
My Happy Marriage - (8/10)
Still believe this show would be better if it didn't have all that supernatural stuff. Nevertheless, still enjoyable romance. Mio is a great lead and her development alongside Kiyoka was really good. We will be there for Season 2.
Reign of the Seven Spellblades - (6/10)
Remember when "Magic High School" was the genre that was oversaturated? Me neither. This show was enjoyable but had some weird moments. Also for once, I'd like a magic show that doesn't obsesses over the reproductive system. Probably won't watch any foreseeable sequel. Still rooting for Nanao to get that kiss.
Bungou Stray Dogs 5th Season - (9/10)
Actual Peak Fiction. Igarashi and his team at Bones just know how to make this show as stylish and cool as possible. Also this arc is by far the best one we've gotten so far. Could feel the tension at every episode where crazy shit happened. Shame I can't read the manga to find out what happens next lol.
Undead Girl Murder Farce - (8/10)
Now this is a show that had style in every corner of its being. Undead Murder Farce with just so fun to watch. The trio of Aya/Tsugaru/Shizuku is one of my favorites in recent times and the side characters we very memorable. I think the last arc when one for 1 or 2 episodes more than it needed too, but still enjoyable nonetheless
EDENS ZERO 2nd Season - (7/10)
This season was a lot more darker than what I usually expect from Mashima. Wish the presentation wasn't so exact to Fairy Tail, but it has some high points that exceeds it's sister series. Probably will check out the manga if a third season isn't announced sometime in the future.
Fate/strange Fake: Whispers of Dawn - (8/10)
An anime series by the team that did all those FGO commercials is any fate fans dream. Cannot wait for the full show of this. I hope Aniplex gives them enough time to animated this (they probably won't)

Still losing my mind over chapter 204 and the time travel situation that’s been revealed and I haven’t seen any posts about it so I have to babble here 😭. I’m honestly quite surprised and pleased at how cohesive Mashima’s plot is turning out in terms of time travel, alternate universes, and the consequences of choices. I read somewhere that he has a plan for how Eden’s Zero will end, as opposed to the plot of Fairy Tail which was supposed to end earlier but got popular so he continued it, and it’s really showing! A proper space opera!! But it totally confirmed some theories I had for Rebecca’s power and I can’t stop screaming.
The interplay between time and gravity is turning out super interesting, and I’m really looking forward to how the concept of life plays into it, what with Mother being the source of human life. The fact that Shiki’s gravity ether power seems to be capable of pulling in time and memories is super fucking cool. It really seems to relate to the science behind black holes and how spacetime is affected where time is extremely slow near black holes due to their intense gravity. The explosion in Universe 2 seems like it created some kind of black hole or a worm hole or something and is why they find themselves so far in the future, which is rad and I hope Mashima keeps bringing in more science based stuff. Also, the fact that Shiki’s (reckless and idealistic) choice to save everyone on one planet led to the creation of an entity determined to end all organic life is honestly so fucking metal, I love this shit.
And all of the 20,000 years later snippets we got always gave me a foreboding feeling and this chapter confirmed it, I couldn’t stop crying. The moment Witch said that Rebecca had the makings of an Etherion user (can’t remember which chapter or if it was after 204), I had a deep suspicion that either Rebecca or some form of her power was Etherion, since Mashima likes to make callbacks to previous works, and Etherion was Resha’s power in Rave Master. The panel when robot Shiki sees Rebecca dead was just heartbreaking and the composition of the light and placement of angles was fab. I love those kids so much 😭💕 I know people are comparing it to Fairy Tail (WHICH I ADORE AND I LOVE THOSE KIDS, IT WAS ONE OF MY FIRST ANIMES) but space and magic are different lol, and I love how dark Mashima is going with this but also still hopeful. Fun adventures but also gritty space travel, the best of both worlds! Apparently the dark, space theme isn’t as popular in Japan according to what I’ve read from other posts, but I live for the angst, so I’m excited for what he has planned (though the hyper-sexualisation tropes I can live without, but at this point I expect it and just move along).
#edens zero spoilers#eden’s zero spoilers#eden’s zero#edens zero#edens zero chapter 204 spoilers#anime#look no one seems to be talking about this manga and I’m losing my mind#I just wanna talk about my kiiiiiids and spaaaaace 😩🤌

indie rp blog for ELFMAN STRAUSS of hiro mashima's FAIRY TAIL manga/anime.
mutuals only, selective, dashboard-only.
;; carrd
rules under the cut.
To clarify, these are but my preferences. I’ll put these up just to give an idea of what I am willing and not willing to do~
This blog is semi-selective and unexclusive. That said, I’ll only follow fellow RP blogs; no personals.
I am over the age of 21 and therefore, may include mature content on this blog. Rest assured all of it will be properly tagged.
I don’t run on active times mostly; my timezone is +3 GMT and therefore, it is likely our interactions will not be immediate, mostly. Please keep that in mind.
This blog encourages crossover and multi-fandom! In fact, several verses are to be written in the CARRD to make things easier for non-FT muses.
I am selective with OCs. My main requirement is a solid about page so I can get an idea of who or what am I writing with.
I use the standard Tumblr Beta editor, but will cut my posts through an add-on. My preference is that mutual writing partners do the same.
Inbox always open, threads would have to be moved to a different post. I wouldn’t RP off ask forms!
I will answer only when available. Please be patient with me. Under the same notion, take your time with your replies! I realize we all have lives outside Tumblr, and I can't stress enough how important it is for me for my partners to feel comfortable with writing with me.
I am mutual-exclusive. This blog doesn't run full-time (as it is not my job) and therefore, I will only write with those who share a follow with me. That said --please don’t shy away! If you want to talk or have an idea for a thread we can have, feel absolutely free to contact me any way.
This blog is unaffiliated. As it is done just for fun, I keep my right to do what makes me personally, comfortable; including but not limited to declining certain plots, dropping threads (within notice), unfollowing and blocking.
I will take NO forms of OOC harassment; not against me, not on my dashboard. Respect your peers first off.
Standard RP rules apply: no godmodding, powerplay or metagaming. As battle is inevitable, let’s try to keep things fair.
I like shipping, but it must come with chemistry. I will never force a ship on anyone, so I request you don’t either. Regardless, I am still a shipper at heart.
Thanks for reading!
