Kevin Cyr’s “All But Gone” at Antler PDX.

Currently on view at Antler Gallery in Portland, Oregon is artist Kevin Cyr’s fantastic solo exhibition, “All But Gone.”

Cyr’s work for this series is a collection of his signature de-contextualized portraits of vans, covered in graffiti, based on real vehicles he has known. Rather than glorifying the sleek design or status-symbol cache of luxury transportation the artist instead chosen to explore working vehicles.

The exhibition will be on view for the rest of September 29th, 2019.

Fierce Feathered Portraits of Brooding Birds by Josie Morway

Artist Josie Morway creates fierce portraits of wildlife set in abstracted apocalyptic environments and interspersed with geometric linework, colorful paint drips, and mysterious Latin text. Morway often features birds in her oil and enamel paintings, using the graceful shapes of the animals’ elongated necks and sweeping wings to draw the viewer’s eye around the artwork. Many of Morway’s works also interweave plants: ferns, succulents, and blossoming flowers emerge from around her animal subjects’ bodies.

Morway will have a piece on view at Antler Gallery in Portland starting June 9, 2018, as part of PDX/LAX II, a collaborative exhibit with Los Angeles gallery Thinkspace Projects, as well as a two person show in October. You can also find her work in Australia at Beinart Gallery’s group show starting July 13. The artist shares updates on her work via Instagram. Via colossal

“Baseborn Bounties”: Nick Sheehy & Jon MacNair at Antler Gallery.

Opening Thursday, April 27th, 2017 at Antler Gallery in Portland, Oregon is the two person exhibition of brand new works by artists Nick Sheehy and Jon MacNair entitled “Baseborn Bounties.”

Through their narrative works - each inhabiting alternate dimensions with re-occurring characters and symbols - MacNair & Sheehy’s artworks perfectly align as visual counterparts.  Both seem touched by magic, or some evil-doers curse that in spite of it’s caster has gifted the artists with glorious, imaginative talent.

“Baseborn Bounties” will be on view until May 22nd, 2017.

Those times where your thoughts poke and prod, eating away at this something within you. You think the easiest thing, or the safest thing to do is to remain stationary and unchanged, praying that it will all pass over. But to do so is to stagnate. You know it won’t pass over. It’s hard, it’s exhausting and its scary. But sooner or later, you have to move, even if you have to fall. This little piece was for the ‘LA | PDX II’ exhibition by @thinkspace_art and @antlerpdx!
