Gender equality issues: a male lens
This is a non exhaustive list I've been working on about how guys, or those perceived to be, end up in the context of modern gender politics.
The right has an objectively patriarchal slant. Many believe men should hold all positions of power, or that all women with power should always be subject to a man with more power. This belief is held by both men and women. Women are harmed by this in a myriad of ways that involve their subservience and submission.
Men however, even within this movement, are not uniform in power or privilege. Most men do not fit into a role of power and are therefor subject to it's abuses. Because men did not arrive at this concept through universal consensus, the ideals behind patriarchal views have never been about empowering men over women, but rather to make a smaller group of competitors for power.
This dynamic results in women having intrinsic value to men in power, as most men are heterosexual, as well as being placed in a caretaker role, while other men only have value based on birth or action within the system. The actions required often involve harm towards the self or others, making it a path many men will not take. Some men are outright denied the choice all together(black/gay/trans/religious minority/disability/etc.).
The result is strong pressure to conform to “traditional masculinity” in order for men in power to promote their image and make other men stay in line. The women supporting this ideology get some guaranteed “safety” and power over other women and some men. Many women that hold gender critical or sexist beliefs find this an agreeable tradeoff, mostly due to their fear or hatred of unfamiliar men.
This particular version of traditional masculinity places certain profiles on men, including but not limited to being violent, sexually savage, unemotional, impulsive, unemphatic, stupid/rash, and incapable of receiving real harm from others due to their “privilege”.
Many of these issues have become exacerbated from the removal of positive male identity or diversity of identity. Feminism in its' second wave expressly challenged the worlds view of women, and tried to intentionally muddy those waters. In doing so, along with the obvious positives in sex equality, also caused some unintentional consequences. In its attempt to broaden women's abilities and peoples perception of them men and masculinity were made inherently negative, and were used as a villain to the contrasting femininity(and women's rights).
Over time this has resulted in a lack of attention and sometimes direct degradation of men trying to build community and social support for the biases held against them. Though the right forces men into a system most cannot win and actively promotes sexism, the left is unwilling to accept that those men are even facing a problem, let alone a unique experience as men. When it is accepted, it is under the condition that those men affirm their privilege and hold little to no opinions of their own on why they were mistreated. It does not help that, due to its strong slant towards women's rights, there is an unwillingness to question beliefs the left still holds about men in context to women's abuse, such as women's inherent and supposedly justified fear of men and their violent nature.
Most men in minority groups drift towards the left because of that status. They both need the support for that status and are seen as victimized, therefore worthy of a voice that is protected and taken seriously; though their perceived male-ness will push their voice down below others in need of aid. Unfortunately many men that are not in a recognized minority but still feel victimized are easily recruited into the patriarchal view of the right, with the promise of being given a place and value that they will never likely receive.
I may or may not add more later, there is obviously more nuance and specific issues with oppression I haven't talked about

I'm not saying that mens aren't being radicalized online, but I think that researchers overstate this to the point that they forget that our society is still deeply misogynistic even without the internet.why are gender enthusiasts so obsessed with "cracking" lesbian "eggs" lol get a hobby Sex work regulation often focuses on protecting workers, but radical feminists argue that it fails to address the broader issue of exploitation. They advocate for cracking down on pimps and johns while providing support systems that allow girls to exit the industry. By focusing on long term solutions, feminists hope to create a world where girls are not forced to sell their bodies to survive. why are gender enthusiasts so obsessed with "cracking" lesbian "eggs" lol get a hobby Sex work regulation often focuses on protecting workers, but radical feminists argue that it fails to address the broader issue of exploitation. Men's antagonism toward women's self defense strategies reflects their discomfort with female empowerment. When women take measures to protect themselves, such as carrying weapons or walking with dogs, some men attempt to undermine their efforts, which reveals a desire to maintain control over women by keeping them vulnerable. Radical feminist critiques of sex work focus on the broader systemic forces that push women into the industry, rather than simply protecting workers. They argue that by targeting the demand for sex work and providing resources to exit, feminists can dismantle the structures that exploit women. Radical feminists often criticize the liberal feminist approach to sex work for not addressing the root causes of exploitation. While criminalizing sex work without further support systems can harm workers, radical feminists argue for a broader restructuring of society to provide alternatives. By focusing on creating safe exits from the sex industry, they emphasize the importance of long-term solutions that protect women from exploitation while challenging the economic systems that perpetuate it. Many radical feminists express exhaustion with online activism, feeling that it lacks the power to effect real change. While digital spaces have provided a platform for feminist ideas, they can also become echo chambers where meaningful action is sidelined. The call to move from online discourse to real-world organizing reflects a desire for more tangible, collective action that can challenge oppressive systems and create lasting social change. The transactional nature of transgender healthcare raises ethical concerns. The ease with which some can access hormones or surgery, without deep psychological evaluation, reflects a healthcare system that often prioritizes efficiency over thoroughness. While access to healthcare is vital, the lack of comprehensive mental health screenings can leave individuals unprepared for the emotional and psychological challenges of transitioning, ultimately failing to offer truly holistic care. Lets tring through a scary room and see if we find any drippulous vaginas along the way.Nothing good ever comes from slop with drabbley Shadow. Why would you trip over a chicken like that in the middle of rat's squibulous burgers?

The feminist movement highlights how men weaponize safety concerns to maintain control over women. Even when women take precautions for their own security, many men respond with dismissiveness or threats, reinforcing women's vulnerability. This behavior is part of a larger pattern of undermining women's independence and reinforcing male dominance by making women feel powerless, even in situations where they've taken measures to protect themselves. I'm aiming for the legal protections of the prostitute but a crackdown on johns and pimps. I want prostitutes (and other 'sex workers' of course but I am focusing on prostitutes) to be able to seek aid, go to the police, and get other forms of help without fear of being arrested or fined. I want johns to be scared to even walk near a prostitute. I want pimps to face a minimum of 10 years in prison if not more. On one hand, we are told to express ourselves, to open up, yet the moment we do, our feelings are met with skepticism, even ridicule. "Who hurt you?" they ask, not out of care but as if our pain is something to be dismissed. Men, in particular, seem almost repelled by the vulnerability they claim to want. There s an underlying reason for this pattern, but the question remains: why? ne stark example is how some individuals seem to reject the societal pressures that come with their assigned gender by adopting identities that ostensibly offer more freedom, but ultimately lead back to the same structural biases they hoped to escape. A similar point of cognitive dissonance can be found in the ways men continue to undermine women s contributions to society. The tired argument that men are responsible for most major scientific discoveries conveniently ignores the historical context in which women were denied access to education, intellectual pursuits, and professional recognition.

Calling Lesbians' attraction to vaginas a mere genital "preference" erases the sheer violence behind corrective rape of millions of sapphic women. I do not just "dislike" dick, I am physically incapable of being attracted to it. My allure to the female genitilia is not a choice, it's my biological reality. Dismissal of same-sex attraction as a choice reinforces the homophobic ideology that attractions can be altered and also paves the way for discrimination. One cannot opt out of their sexuality, they are always born with it.

Honestly when I hear people say “not receiving gender affirming surgeries will make me feel suicidal” I hear the same thing as if someone said “if I don’t get a nose job I’ll feel suicidal”
It’s a physical insecurity that wouldn’t exist in a vacuum. I’m sorry that you were influenced to feel this way, but surgery will not fix something that is rooted in self-hatred. If you change it with surgery, you will find another insecurity to fixate on within a week.
Also, can we talk about how rebranding gender affirming surgery as some life-saving procedure is just promoting and glamorising a very misogynistic and corrupt industry.

I don't care about the mission anymore. There was a time when I believed in it, when I thought it was important. But now? It feels like just another distraction, another way to keep me busy so I don't have to think about anything else.

posts like these really bother me because i feel like they entirely misinterpret what trans men and mascs say about our experiences and make it seem like we’re all tomboy lesbians while not explicitly saying that, hiding behind the guise of “it’s ok to be gnc”. ive also never seen a gender critical understand what gender non conformity is beyond not shaving, but that’s a separate point.
obviously there is nothing wrong with any of these things. they don’t inherently mean youre a transgender man.
but there’s a pretty big ‘but’ here.
why is op saying this?
who do you think their comment is directed at?
what do they want to achieve?
given everything, i’d say they believe trans men are just girls who hate their body and are confused as to why. it’s aimed at questioning trans boys who don’t know where their feelings are coming from. and op wants to convince them not to transition, to just stay gnc
now, about the actual post itself: i wouldn’t say its normal for cis girls to hate their sex characteristics. i’d say it’s common, just like feeling anxious is common, but not everyone has an anxiety disorder, yk? but not wearing makeup, crossdressing, disliking periods(who doesnt lol), being attracted to women… yea, that’s normal! but trans men who say “i do this so i think im a guy” arent saying any person assigned female who does this is a guy.
see, i fit… all of that criteria. i know cis women who fit all of that criteria. the difference here is what that means to us.
for me, i want to wear boys clothes AS A BOY. i have short hair because being read as a boy makes me feel seen, i want to grow it out once i pass. i hate my sex characteristics because i am a boy who wishes he was male. i like women as a straight guy. i wish i wasn’t a girl because i’m not one. i’m doing womanhood wrong because i am a man expected to be a woman.
my cis female friends may agree with the first half of each of those sentences, but not the why part. posts like that are misleading because they position being trans as wanting a haircut or being “same sex attracted”. as misinterpreting “normal girl things”.
im really sick of all these disingenuous gender criticals claiming to be doing this in support of gnc girls, when 1. very little understanding of gender non conformity is present and 2. it’s only to stop us from being so gnc we’re actually guys now.

actual feminists: women deserve the right to feel safe, choose to not have children or get married, vote, abortions, pursue their dreams, and feel comfortable in their own skin. rape is a huge problem in our society, and rapists must be prosecuted/condemned for their crimes. Women face an unfair amount of domestic violence compared to men.
terfs: agreed
actual feminists: also, trans rights
terfs: you’re just an evil misogynist, you’re just pretending to be a feminist, you actually hate women >:(
