😂 As outrageously incorrect and stupid as that take is, I'm going to go on a tangent here. I hope you don't mind.

I think every fandom has annoying people with awfully terrible takes in it. People with zero media literacy. People who hatewatch. People who think they're entitled to the exact show they would've wanted, which has nothing to do with the actual, existing show.

This is especially true for queer media, and especially true for queer cartoons. (Hi, yes. I was active in the Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Voltron, and She-Ra fandoms when those shows were airing, respectively. I've seen some stuff). Some people just can't handle queer cartoons, period. If the queer characters/ships are soft and wholesome, they're infantilising and boring, and if they're complex and nuanced and actually have conflict, they're abusive and problematic. You'll hear the same recycled arguments over and over again. Like, the shit some people are saying about Blitz and Stolas after The Full Moon? Is literally almost word-for-word what they said about Catra and Adora post-season 3 of She-Ra (and even at the end of the show).

Here's the thing, though! Those people and their bad takes are not what I want to think about what I think about a fandom. Those aren't the people I want to call the fans. They don't deserve that title. Not when so many other people are out there dedicating their time to making gifs and art and meta posts, and writing fic, and commenting/reblogging to show support, and sliding into people's DMs to scream and squee together about a thing they love.

At the end of the day, "fandom" is just a lot of people each doing their own thing. Which people you engage with and allow to stay within your line of sight will determine your fandom experience. Fandom can be a huge, convoluted, online space full of people who are constantly arguing with one another and whose takes make you unfathomably angry... Or it can be you and your 5 friends and mutuals who scream gleefully at one another in 2-note posts. You can't control what others post online, but you can control your engagement with it.

How? Well, here's what I personally do to avoid getting upset by people's stupid opinions online:

Filter 'critical' and 'anti' tags (eg. #anti stolitz #anti vivziepop #Helluva Boss critical #HB critical #vivziepop critical). Many people actually do tag their critical posts because they know it's the respectful thing to do!

If I come across a post that has one or more of those tags, obviously, I don't click through to see it under any circumstances.

If I stumble across a stranger's untagged post with hate/criticism that upsets me: I stop reading and BLOCK. Immediately. I don't look back. I don't finish reading. I don't engage. I just block block block. I <3 the block button, seriously.

If I feel my mind reeling from a bad take I just came across: I take a step back, close my phone, breathe, remember life is beautiful sometimes. Go back and watch an episode I really like. Clean my living space a little. Vent about it to a friend (but only if I really need to, because if not, I'd rather not dwell on it).

If I'm starting to feel the need to reply to someone's bad take (directly or via my own post), I instead make the decision to channel that energy into making fandom posts out of love. (I don't do this just with fandom. If I see something transphobic online, I usually react by reblogging a bunch of trans art or trans positivity posts on my main, for example). I like to think of it as putting some positivity out into the world to compensate for the negativity I just saw. So, for example, if I see someone shitting on my blorbo, I may make a silly post just saying how much I love blorbo. Or I'll make (or draft) a post about how interesting I find some of blorbo's actions. Or reblog another person's positive/interesting post about blorbo.

And finally, I stay the hell away from Twitter. Or at least, if I go on Twitter, I try my best to avoid any tweet that has text in it instead of just art. Even the people who have good opinions spend too much time arguing with the people who have bad opinions on there. I don't want to see people's bad takes! No, not even while reading founded and perfectly articulated criticism of those bad takes! So I just limit my time on Twitter. And again, if someone is putting bad takes on my TL (even if it is to counter them), I unfollow and block as needed.

All this to say, yes, it really fucking sucks to read the opinions of people who don't understand and who hate the characters and ships and worlds you love. Gosh it's the worst. But you can curate your fandom experience. You can focus on the things you can control. You have the power to decide if your fandom experience is draining or fun!

And because I don't know how to finish this, here, have a Stolitz kiss to heal you:

With the new atla series out I'm seeing a lot of zutara and kataang beef again annnnnnd aghhhh.

As someone who thinks both are fine, here are how I see both sides.

For kataang antis...I think you guys call them that? Idk, but for them, they say Aang is like a little kid and they mention the age gap all the time. But in the original show, Zuko and Katara have the same age gap so frankly that just doesn't work 😭 not to totally disregard that take though because I know fourteen year old me would not date a twelve year old, but I think some of y'all are pushing it. ESPECIALLY when y'all start mentioning the family dynamics like, "Aww a big sister and a little brother," liiike....now y'all are being annoying 😭😭

But some zutara antis are saying they feel that zutara is a self insert and....no, like I'm sorry but that's just a cop out 😭 like if you don't like the ship then just say that but this is a stupid reason for that, because it's just not true😭.

As someone who shipped byler when I was like eleven, I know how it feels to be called delusional 💀 but one thing I just won't stand behind is see y'all call zutara shippers delusional like everything for that ship wasn't there. Red and blue, zuko getting struck by lighting, the enemies to lovers. Everything was there! I think the downside of that is some zutara shippers are saying that that's proof for the ship which it obviously isn't.

But at the end of the day it's whoever Katara chooses, which in this case was Aang. I just don't see how this became a whole war....again, like? Be normal??

Because it is actually pissing me off when kataangs say, "people just ship zutara because they wanna live their fantasies out through Katara,".....ummm no?? 😭😭 Like maybe people ship zutara because Zuko and Katara are cute together?? Especially since kataang was supposedly an insert ship 😭😭?? The call is coming from inside the house💀 but even if that was the case wouldn't they just ship the cannon ship zumai...?

But it makes me mad because it totally disregards Katara as a character and just dumbing her down to a self insert, y/n type girl when nooo she is her own character.

One last thing is I was alwayyyys a sokka girl. I don't know why, I just liked the goofy blue type. Kinda like Voltron, everyone liked Keith but I was rocking with lance😭 the only time I like the red character over the blue was in TMNT 2012 version but anyways. What I'm saying is I never saw a zutara fan art and went,"sigh, I wish that was me🥺🥺" umm no💀

Hi!! I binge-read some of your byler analysis, along with other users', and I can't help but STILL feel on the fence about hoping for byler endgame. I guess I just don't want to get my hopes super high only for them to be crushed by whatever CGI fest the düff3rs got in store to "go out with a bang" (while, obvs, sticking to the status quo and what they think the GA wants to see). I've seen so many intelligent people write media criticism pieces and analysis in support of the ship, but I still dread that the writers cry plausible deniability on all the clues they DID lay, that the people behind the N*f1ix social media accs confess that they've willingly posted queerbait to boost their engagement and thus get a bigger paycheck (I wouldn't blame them if they did, obvs; besides, it still means that some higher-up approved those misleading posts) and, worst of all, that this whole thing may end up blowing up negatively like the JohnLock conspiracy or the Voltron shenanigans or, y'know, the Supernatural fandom after Castiel's introduction and up until that lame ass final season. In your opinion, what makes byler different? Is there real hope for a satisfying mlm relationship from a show made by het men that capitalizes on 80s nerd culture nostalgia?

Sorry for coming off so jaded: I do wish for a byler ending, but it's been hard to keep my hopes aflame against these worries :c

i think everyone has some amount of doubt, which is totally understandable.

lgbt representation has come a long way, but a lot of us fans who are a bit older grew up consuming media that either had no representation or shitty representation. we sought ourselves in the media we loved and never found it, and corporations exploited that. nowadays there's way more representation that isn't left up to interpretation or censored, but a lot of the time that's in shows that are about romance and drama, high school a lot of the time. which is great, but stranger things is a sci fi show with romantic sub plots. it's easy for queer characters to end up being left out of a show like ST, but they haven't been at all.

one of the big messages of ST is embracing weirdness and being different. loving whatever it is you love, unashamed. when a character strays from being their true self or pushes away the things they love, there are consequences for the character. they become less likable to the audience. the entire theme of s4 is living in the truth, not hiding things, embracing love, being misunderstood simply because you're different. all of that is very queer coded. and it happens to be the season where will's love for mike fully comes into light.

there has been so much thought put into stranger things. the duffers have said there are no coincidences. they put thought into everything, thats why it takes so long to make a season, because they care so much. there are endless details i could point out not related to romance. they've also said they've been set on the ending for a while and will not be changing it to please people. i believe they said some people might not like the ending, but they don't care because they're making the story THEY want. which so far has uplifted queer people and promoted being different. so some antis may call be stupid for trusting them, but im choosing to. i believe they'll do these characters justice.

and my favorite quote from them is "The best plot twists don't make the audience say "wow I never saw that coming!", it makes you say "I should have seen that coming."

as a writer and a creative writing major, i definitely look up to the writers of ST. they are all incredibly talented and i hope one day i can put this much thought and love into a project. and, as a writer, i cannot see them throwing mike and will's relationship down the drain.

so, what makes byler different? there's very few shows where this much thought is put into everything. its not debatable that they do that, they've said it and its evident if you watch the show. so i refuse to believe all of these things between mike and will are just coincidences or accidents. there's just no possible way. i definitely had a klance phase and i can confidently say voltron writing is nowhere near the level of ST, and neither is supernatural. supernatural is one of those shows that has a lot of seasons and has gone all over the place in terms of writing and plot. the duffers have known the ending to this story since season 1. and unlike those shows with lots of seasons, ST only has 5. it won't be dragged on and beaten like a dead horse like some shows.

you don't have to completely eliminate your doubt. even i have doubt even after all i've said and posted. there is simply no way to confirm what'll happen before s5 releases, and they want it that way. just hold on until s5 friend

Sorry - to correct. The place where Talia Al Ghul threatens to kill Huntress Helena Bertinelli out of jealousy that she might be Batman’s new “concubine” in the 90s Batman Legacy Event is in the issue Robin (1993) #33 and this was way way before Morrison and definitely way before 9/11. She was just not purely good person and was prone to these antics in her own ways (upset over Bruce not answering that they belonged together over Selina and threatening to rip their heart out if they got together at the end of Tec #526, for example) and I think it was really the Demon Trilogy (which O’ Neil who created her himself didn’t like and editorial wanted taken out because they didn’t approve and saw it as an out of wedlock romance), B:TAS nostalgia, and that era’s editorial (run by O’ Neil again) keeping Batman from his other significant romances that helped her a bit. Even when you go read the write ins for her classic stories she was never as popular as say, Selina (and you can tell from the Lazarus Affair Arc)

Yep, a lot of it is rose-colored glasses and nostalgia that has lead to this laughable brain-rot.

Many Talia Stans seem to think that Talia is Bruce's endgame (Which is not only stupid but a disservice to both their characters) and try to harken back to the good ol' days (Which weren't all that good) where Talia was this "heroic anti-heroine", which isn't really true, perfect for Bruce to prove their point. The Demon Trilogy, despite being non-canonical since it's conception, is taken as gospel in their circle and spurs them on. They also like to yap about how Talia is based off a Bond Girl, which in their eyes makes her Bruce's wife despite Bruce being a separate character from James Bond and that the character they say she's based off of dies.

Plus, most of their complaining that Morrison wrote a racist and sexist version of Talia usually fall short with this information (i.e all of the arcs she's been in where she's done bad and questionable things). This isn't to say that DC hasn't been racist or sexist (Batman Legends of the Dark Night first few issues, Holy Terror or any of their earlier works are examples) or that all Talia's depictions have always been free of any bigotry. But most of them use these accusations to stop any conversation that invalidates their version of Talia. Also, I've spoken about racism and sexism within fandoms (DC, Voltron, The Bear) in irl plus I'm literally mixed, so I'm not trying to invalidate anyone.

It's also weird how this attitude has flowed into the wider fandom and causes people to have this strange vision of Talia because if we look at this relationship without these blinders (nostalgia) still portraying Brutalia as a romantic relationship is just down right creepy and borderline abusive. Like in many of their interactions post O'Neil (And even under his editorial), Talia is honestly a down-right over-possessive, manipulative person with abusive tendencies and Bruce enables her. It's stifling because you can't treat it as anything other than romantic and healthy.

Plus, Talia's fans end up being more sexist as they take away Talia's agency when confronted with her bad actions and treat her like a child.

Not really an anti thing, just something I've sorta been pondering and would like some more perspectives on.

Why is it that 2012-2014 is regarded as a sort of "golden age" of fandom? (Or at the very least, of Tumblr fandom?)

My perspective is pretty limited because I only started my first Tumblr account towards the end of 2014.

I know though that Superwholock was the big thing, Harry Potter was still popular (because JKR wasn't known for being a raging terf yet), Homestuck fandom was very active, Oncelermania, One Direction, Avengers, Gravity Falls, Rise of the Big Frozen Brave Tangled Dragons etc etc whatever else they added in, Steven Universe. I think it might have also been helped by the fact that smart phones were starting to become the standard phone and may have given people more access to social media than before.

But I know one thing that caused things to change is because after this time we saw a rise is "cringe culture", cringe compilations on Youtube were trendy.

I've seen a lot of people point to Voltron for causing a toxic shift in fandom attitudes. But (not to center my own experience or anything, I'm posting to hear more perspectives is all) in my opinion the release of The Force Awakens seems like it changed everything. As a day 1 Reylo shipper people were fucking VICIOUS. And it was so widespread too, even people who've never seen Star Wars participated in Reylo hate, because it was just trendy to hate us for some reason. I really do think this was a big part in contributing to the rise of the hypercritical discourse-y state of fandom we see today.

And it really feels like a rapid, night-and-day shift.

Now everyone is terrified of being perceived as "cringe" so it feels like there's this attitude of a sort of detached irony that wasn't there before. People just get so uncomfortable when they see other people fully embracing something, you kind of have to pretend you don't care all that much.

Or terrified of being perceived as problematic, so everyone was dancing in circles and jumping through hoops to condemn everything in sight to prove that THEY'RE definitely not problematic!

Another factor is that it feels like people STAYED in fandoms much longer then. Nowadays things blow up really fast and then disappear overnight. Everyone moves on to the next thing, and it's sometimes even seen as a little weird to still care about something that came out like, a year ago.

I don't know this got long and rambly.

Just curious to hear from more people who were active at the time.

425 Works on AO3 Check In

I've now got 425 works up on AO3, so it's time for my scheduled check in on fandom behavior in regard to my works. As a reminder, you can find past entries in this series using the "griselda gimpel AO3 checkins" tag.

Not really anything to report for this check in, honestly. I haven't gotten any harassment since last check in. I did get a couple-few mildly irritating comments on "A Lap Dance for Mr. Bonzo", but nothing that rises to the level of harassment. Just the usual "people forget that when they leave a comment, an actual person will be reading it".

Anyway, last check in, I talked about fandom as a panopticon. This time, I'm thinking about the temporal nature of fandom misbehavior.

Okay, one of the fics I wrote recently was another Sylki fic. And I know there are Sylki Antis. They've never bothered me, personally, but I know they exist. And I wasn't in the Voltron fandom, but my friend Stitch was, and she's told horror stories about the fan misbehavior in that fandom. And I was in the Our Flag Means Death fandom, and I know how toxic the Izzy Antis there were.

Loki season two ended a bit ago. There's still a lovely Sylki community here on tumblr I belong to, but I imagine the fandom has died down a bit. I know Our Flag Means Death has, and I haven't heard of Izzy fans getting harassment recently. Voltron's also faded, it seems.

So...where did the toxic fans (or anti fans) in those fandoms go afterward? Did they mature and stop harassing people? Did they leave fandom all together? Or are the toxic fans of one fandom the same toxic fans of fandoms that were popular in years past? It's definitely worth study if someone has a good methodology.

(I am unable to be the one to conduct this study. I block toxic fans on their fist offense.)

Anyway, to recap, in total:

In the Our Flag Means Death fandom, I got a harassing anonymous Ask on tumblr for being an Izzy fan.

In the This Is How Your Lose the Time War fandom, I got an angry comment on a fan fic because it featured a pit bull. Yes, the dog. No, this one will never stop being hilarious to me.

In The Magnus Protocol fandom, my Dickonzo fic got mocked on tumblr.

I've had multiple instances of getting angry comments or my work reported because I talked about racism.

Coming up, I'll be posting an Ouizzy fic and a Dickonzo fic for two of my big bangs, so we will see what the response to them is.

Plot Summary

Keith desperately tries to hide the fact he's regresses from everyone. Despite efforts, his disappearance was becoming noticeable. Lance is the first to discover he regresses. With his supporter, he comes to accept it.

The team meeting seemed to drag on for ages. At first Keith was paying attention but after while the floor seemed to be of far more interest than the meeting. His mind felt so fuzzy, but in a bad away at the moment. He couldn't even understand what Shiro, or even Allura was saying anymore. It was just babbling on and on, but none of the words stuck in his mind. They just flew right over his head. Slightly ironic given his height. He's average height though it's not his fault they're giants.

His shoulders felt heavy, his whole body did. At first he thought it was from pushing himself too much during combat training earlier but it felt like so much more. His mind was slipping. He really really hated it to. He's never liked his regression. He didn't really know what it was to be fair. It only started happening a few months ago and it wasn't like he could google it. He misses google sometimes. Keith didn't know what regression was at all. He thought he was being dumb and childish, even disgusting.

Finally, Shiro dismissed the team. Most stuck around and still talked and hung out. Really it was normal. Keith practically darted out of the room and down the hallways. It wasn't really that unordinary anymore. He has been so distant towards the team since he started regressing more often. He got impatient to get to his room after some time and ended up running. His eyes burning with unshead tears. He didn't know why he wanted to cry so badly.

He finally made it to his room, panting heavily from the run. He struggled to get the door open for a minute, but happily launched himself through it once it finally opened. He shut the door behind himself then kicked off his boots. Most times he didn't even get as far as kicking off his boots before he crawled into his bed. He's pretty proud of himself for getting that far. He curled up on it. Keith pulled a pillow to his chest, hugging it close.

He finally let the tears fall from his eyes. The more he cried the more he clung to the pillow. He kept slipping younger and younger until it settled. It didn't help much with his crying. He felt upset with himself for acting so childish during a war. He hated how much it affected him to. Keith didn't understand how Shiro coped with all this and didn't explode or murder someone.

He curled up into a tight ball, keeping the pillow between his chest and legs. His face buried into the top of it. He moved one of his hands from the pillow. He slipped his thumb into his mouth. He knows it's not good for him, but he found so much comfort in it, more than he cared to admit. Keith couldn't help but wonder if the team would find him disgusting now, just cause he got overwhelmed like this and felt so young suddenly. Would they tell him to leave? He hoped not. Wasn't like he had anything waiting for him back in earth.

He felt like he was the first to notice Keith slip off from them. Lance always seemed to notice first. Or maybe it was that he said something first. He didn't exactly get along with Keith, but it didn't mean he hated the poor guy. They're a team.. even if he got on his nerves from time to time. He spotted Shiro looking around for Keith for a moment before going back to the conversation. It really felt weird to be the only one somewhay vocal about his concerns about Keith of all people. He wasn't sure why he cared so much. He just didn't like seeing people being left out.

Keith has been rather distant lately. That's something Lance has noticed. He's not very social, but normally he was around people more often. In the mornings it's less likely, the later nights too, but during most of the day he's usually following someone around and keeping them company. Okay, now his over thinking brain has definitely done his brain in. He's worried about the dumb mullet head.

" Hey I'm pretty tired still from training, I'm gonna try to get some rest, " Lance spoke up, catching everyone's attention.

It wasn't exactly a lie. He is pretty tired from training. They said their goodbyes to him all around the simple cya later and get some rest. It wasn't really anything worth focusing too much on.

Lance walked himself down the hallways. He traced his fingers over the walls boredly before they hit the door of Keith's room. He paused at the door. Was it really a good idea to bother the hot headed male? Probably not He'll probably just yell at him to fuck off and throw shit at him. How did he know this? It's happened before. That was the last time he ever visited Keith's room. He turned on his heel, going to leave before hearing what sounded like a sob. He stopped on his tracks again. Well now he felt bad.

He bit into his bottom lip then finally knocked on the door. Lance heard some shuffling before it went quiet. He sighed heavily. Maybe he should just leave Keith alone. He wasn't really in the mood to be yelled at anyways.

" Keith, are you alright? " he asked through the door.

" I'm fine go away, " Keith yelled on the other side.

Apart of Lance didn't believe that at all. he ruffled his own hair and stood there for awhile longer. This is a really bad idea but he's worried. He sighed and opened the door, surprised that it actually opened. He assumed Keith left it unlocked without thinking. He looked around in the dark room then turned the lights on so he could see. He'll never understand people who laid in the pitch black dark. He couldn't see a damn thing.

" Keith? Why are the lights off it's not good for you, " Lance huffed out from habit.

There's many things he missed from being on earth. Being a cg is a huge part of it. He missed being able to take care of someone and littles are so cute. He missed his old little.. he really hoped they were doing okay.

" Keith come on don't give me the silent treatment, " he rolled his eyes at the male.

Lance moved to face Keith.. kinda. Keith is still curled up on the bed facing away from him. he's against the wall mostly and a small ball. He watched his breathing for a moment, noticing how shakey it really was. He frowned. He finally sat on the bed behind Keith, not close but still on the bed. He pulled his legs up and peered over Keith's shoulder. He's definitely crying.. and was sucking on his thumb. He blinked in confusio at the sight.

" Keith, what's wrong? I know we don't get along or whatever but you're still kinda my teammate and you'll drag everyone else down with you, " he huffed out, still keeping his tough guy words.

He wasn't really like that. Keith just made him angry all the time so it was just reaction to be like that. He gently touched his side, watching Keith flinch. Okay, now he felt really bad.

" Face me, please, " he asked of the shorter male.

Finally, Keith turned around to face Lance. his eyes puffy and his nose red from crying so hard. Honestly it broke Lance's heart to see him like this. Although he seemed to have removed the thumb from his mouth. He felt like he knew what was wrong deep down but Keith couldn't possibly have suck a simple answer to it. He gently brushed some of his hair from his face, making the poor hot headed male flinch again.

" Sorry, what's wrong? Tell me please. Sorry for being a dick, okay? "

Keith flinched at the cursing. It confused Lance, mostly because he had a worse mouth than he did. Keith literally got into fights with Shiro over it. It was really annoying.

This is a bad idea. Why did he talk? Keith knew he was too little to talk to Lance. He's such an idiot. He sniffled and tried to roll back over but Lance stopped him. He laid on his back and looked up to him. His arms clinging to the pillow and pressing it against his chest. He liked being able to cling to it.

" How old are you Keith? "

His heart dropped at the question. Why was it so difficult to know how old he was? Why is there two ages in his mind that responded. He whined softly and rolled to his side, facing Lance. He curled up next to him, still leaving a decent amount of distance between them both. He flinched as he touched him again, just gently touching his hair. He let out shakey breaths. He wasn't really having a panic attack, more like a breakdown. He curled up more and whimpered quietly.

" I dunnos, " Keith whispered quietly.

" It's okay, I'm not upset, " Lance reassured in a soft tone.

Honestly or caught him off guard. He didn't expect the male go be so nice and soft. Then again they almost always are fighting, even over the stupid things. Lance and his dumb rivalry. He never saw it nor did he understand what he insisted they are rival's. Keith yelped slightly as Lance pulled him up a little and to his side. He lifted his head from the pillow to watch him. He watched as he laid down and pulled him close to his chest. He wrapped his arms around Keith, which surprised him. He didn't understand why Lance was doing this. Didn't he hate him?

He sniffled and shifted closer. Why did Lance feel so safe though? His grip loosened on the pillow. Soon enough he replaced the pillow for Lance. He clung to him burying his face into his chest. He tried his best not to cry, but eventually Keith just started crying again. He felt so miserable and just sad over all. He didn't understand why he felt like this. He let out soft sobs, relaxing into him as he rubbed his back.

" Its okay, don't hold it in, " Lance spoke again.

He found comfort in the words. He didn't really understand why. He sniffled and curled up against him. He felt Lance's arms tighten around him. The blanket soon pulled over them both, he assumed Lance's doing. He wasnt really sure. He couldn't focus through his crying and clinging to him. Then again he never could focus when he is so fuzzy headed. Why did he feel like this? Why did Lance of all people have to find him??

Keith had finally fallen asleep. It took ages, but he did. Lance is really proud of him for resting, which felt weird to think or even say. He ran his fingers through his hair. Unlike how he thought his hair is oddly soft. He liked the feel of it. He smiled to himself and adjusted how he laid a little. He watched Keith's eyebrows furrow, making him stop in his movements. He's a light sleeper, he'll definitely need to remember that for the future.

" shhh, it's okay go back to sleep bubs, " Lance reassured him quietly.

Never in a million years would he have guessed Keith regressed. The signs are there and everything. He wasn't really sure if he'd be okay with Lance taking care of him or just looking after him when he did regressed. He didn't know, but he'll at least try to ask. It helped him through his own stuff to be a caregiver. He really loves it and misses it. He isn't sure how a lot of the team would react, but knew he'd protect Keith regardless. They're teens thrown into a battle of war, they'll have to get over how they cope.

Lance yawned deeply. He adjusted the covers over them. He's tired but hated sleeping with the lights on. He couldn't move though. He'd hate himself if he woke Keith up after how long it took him to even get him to fall asleep. He sighed in defeat and wrapped his arms more firmly around Keith. The little relaxed even more in his arms and shifted closer to him. Lance tried not to met too much from the cuteness. Keith, cute. Those are words he never thought he'd use in the same sentence together. Maybe it is time for a change. Being nice to Keith, that is. Maybe he'll mess with Shiro instead.. not that's a horrible idea. That man could deck him with a stare.

" Goodnight little one, " he whisper quietly.

He tried to get as comfortable as he could in the position. Keith laid with his head on the inside of his arm. His gave buried into his chest and his hands clinging to Lance's clothes even in his sleep. He found it cute really. He played with his hair for awhile before sleep finally overtook him.

GOD.... I will never be over Momo's design. She comes from a wealthy background, is polite, sweet, and dresses conservatively and Horikoshi sticks her in that. In the story, the excuse is "she needs more coverage" when we always see her using her quirk via her back. Like, it's just fanservice. Momo is 15-16, Horikoshi. GROSS. Hagakure. Mirio. Enough to say on that. Also, Midnight making Mina change her hero name from Alien Queen to Pinky. Fucking. Pinky. Alien Queen suits her because I thought her quirk was like bug or alien related, so it really does suit her. And even then, her hero costume doesn't even have any pink on it. You can do so much with that theme. Even if Mina only picked it "cause it sounds cool" it actually sounds like a legit hero name over fucking... Pinky. As for Shoto, he could have like shown a development them with him. Make his costume bland, and not much. Have his hero name be Shoto. But through out him developing, have him make more his own. Like have something to help regulate his fire and ice side. Two is a big theme for him, so you can much with that. For a hero name, I think Icy-Hot can work. Even though it does come from Bakugo insulting him. But I found some that can also work. Mercurial or Ambivalent. If you look up the meanings, I think they fit Shoto quite right. Also Ochako's costume makes no sense to me. She has like anti-gravity thing to help her not wanna feel sick? Why tf does she have to train herself not to get sick? MHA is 200 years in the future, get that girl some armor to help balance her out! Or get her some hero costuming that does look like an astronaut and not some cosplay outfit. Like, these kids are gonna fight really bad guys. Why is like Iida the only one who has like a suit of armor, for situations like that? Makes no sense.

Yup, Momo's costume is just awful. In the practical sense and in the stylistic sense. And you know her flap thingy is pointless because she just ends up ripping her shirt making things out of her back anyway. Giving her a backless outfit would have made more sense.

Todoroki's should have changed as he established individuality and agency. Visual characterization could have been very useful here. Unfortunately, he never does that so Hori doesn't bother :p

I agree Alien Queen was a lot cooler. Pinky is... dumb. It's also her skin color🙃

The space suit is supposed to be a play on Uraraka's quirk, I think, but is also a tribute to Thirteen. I don't mind it, could have been better though. Something like the space suits in Voltron would have looked a lot cooler.

Iida's hero costume is one of my favorites. Knights are representative of honor and valor and that totally suits him even without the inspiration from his brother's suit

I don't think that anti-fandom can really be blamed on kids being "cringe" and having an AU or OCs or ship that's far-fetched. I think it's due to a popularity treadmill. Things start getting pointed out as media ages, it may not have aged well, and instead of taking it into consideration they just blow the whole thing off and treat is as evil. This site is not good at nuance. Don't blame it on people having fun, blame it on the people who can't take "it's complex" (btw not trying to be rude!)

I think you misunderstood me. I dont care about people having fun, ive been vocally anti cringe culture for a long time now. I think everyone should do whatever they want forever. I think there is a certain group of individuals however who ignore a lot of the source material and then get angry that... its the source material.

Thats why i used marvel as an example in the tags. It was the biggest fandom on tumblr and arguably the wider internet when superwholock ran its course, and yet ive seen the same people who ran marvel blogs claim its the worst thing ever made and that anybody who likes it has terrible taste, as if they didnt... used to run with the URL stevelovesbucky or something. They become cold and mean and cyberbullies over something as inconsequential as blockbuster movies and you end up not with the critique they claim to be doing but just cyberbullying over other people liking the same thing they used to like. Except they didnt really like MARVEL, its more that they liked what their IDEA of marvel was. And theres nothing wrong with fanworks and fics, ive been in fandom all my life and I participate actively in those things too, its that they never actually liked whatever the source was, just the other people who did.

Theres a lot more examples I can think of that fit the same metric. Voltron, Steven Universe, Hamilton, hell I once saw someone get driven out of the Fallout fandom because they wrote a fic where their OC was a legion slave. Meanwhile, roman-style slavery has been a major theme in the Fallout universe since day 1! Thats a perfect example of what I'm saying: someone engaged in the actual source material, but it wasn't approved of by the folks who only liked Fallout aesthetically and not genuinely, because they were bullied and driven out for exploring problematic themes through the safe medium of fiction in the game series ABOUT exploring problemic themes through the safe medium of fiction

I dont have any issue whatsoever with people making fics and art and AUs and fanwork. My issue is with people who act like that fanwork is devoid of a source, and don't actually like the source at the end of the day, take the fanon as gospel, and then end up crucifying the source material and everyone who engages in it genuinely

Tbh the last season of Star is like the final season of Voltron. So bad that most in the fandom ignores its very existence or writes fix-it fits.

I can't believe you forgot Voltron on that list of bad fandoms considering it's responsible for some of the worst parts of modern fandom culture (the first true "antis" were Klance shippers looking for ways to demonize any non-Klance ship.)
