I celebrated Roe V Wade being overturned. I am now being investigated for having a miscarriage.
"The happiest moment in my life was when I said "I do" to my husband seven years ago. My second happiest moment was at the Supreme Court building on June 24, 2022. Seeing an endless sea of happy, cheerful faces, the champagne bottles being popped open, watching as bubbles floated on by, the feeling was electric! Babies were going to be saved!
And then a year later, on June 24, 2023, the third happiest moment in my life occurred. The two faint lines revealed themselves on the pregnancy test. I was pregnant! Finally! After years of hoping, praying, and multiple IVF treatments, I was finally pregnant! Life was perfect. My husband took me out to dinner and he never left my side the whole night. He came home from work one day with a giant book of baby names. It didn't take us long to decide: Ophelia if it was a girl, and Benson if it was a boy.
I thanked the Lord for gifting me with a happy marriage and a baby that I prayed so much for. But the Lord had other plans. August 23, 2023, my world came crashing down. I woke from a deep sleep and was overcome with painful cramps. I looked under the blanket and was horrified by what I saw: A huge puddle of red. I ran to the bathroom and sat on the toilet and I cried. I was having a miscarriage.
My husband woke up and noticed the puddle of blood. I've never seen him look so scared in my life. He hugged me while I sat and bled on the toilet. We then stripped down and got in the shower, where he held me, not caring about the blood running down my legs. I scheduled an emergency doctor's appointment for later in the day. The doctor confirmed our worst fear, I had a complete miscarriage. There wasn't anything more that could be done.
I sat on the table in that cold room while I waited for the doctor to come back with my paperwork. I was completely numb. I had no more tears left to cry. My husband stood by me and held my hand while we waited. And then we heard the knock on the door. We were expecting the doctor to enter. Instead, we were met with a couple of police officers.
My husband and I were escorted to the police station. It was there that we were informed that my miscarriage was deemed suspicious. The officers told us that due to the fact that we lived in a pro-life state, this was the new protocol. My husband and I were each taken to separate interview rooms, where we were questioned for six hours. I was asked a variety of questions:
What did I do the night before miscarrying?
Did I have a fall that could have caused the miscarriage?
Did I intentionally cause trauma to my abdomen to induce a miscarriage?
Did I take abortion pills?
Could my husband have slipped abortion pills into my drink?
At first, I tried to be understanding, but that quickly turned to anger. They were accusing my husband and me of purposefully killing our baby. I told the interviewer over and over that we wanted our baby and that we would do nothing to cause harm to our baby. After six hours, the questions let up. The interviewer left the room and I instantly broke down in tears again.
I cried for the baby I lost. I cried because my husband and I were being accused of killing our baby. I cried because I felt like nobody was listening to me. And I cried because this is what pro-choicers said would happen when Roe was overturned. Everything that they said would happen was happening.
Miscarriages were being investigated as murders. Children were being forced to give birth to their rapists' babies. Babies were being born and discarded in trash cans and dumpsters. And we have not done a damn thing about any of this. My husband and I were released, but not before being told that we weren't allowed to leave town due to the fact that we were being investigated.
I read articles about the women in Texas suing the state because of the anti-abortion laws. I read about the 13-year-old girl who gave birth to a baby she did not want. I read about the 11-year-old who had to flee her home state to get an abortion, only for the doctor who performed the abortion to get fined. I felt sick to my stomach reading these stories. And once again, my sorrow was replaced with anger.
I thought back to what I thought was one of the happiest moments of my life, Roe V Wade being overturned. In my mind, the happy smiles that I saw were suddenly replaced with evil snarls. The champagne that was popped was replaced with acid. The bubbles became heavy glass and they fell to the ground. My god, what have we done?
I forwarded the articles to my husband and I saw all color leave his face. The night after our interrogations, we ate dinner in silence. After knowing this man for 17 years and being married to him for seven of those years, he didn't need to talk for me to know what he was thinking. And I agreed with him:
Overturning Roe V Wade was a huge mistake."
-Constance, 37.

So I thought about it and if you think a fetus is a baby, does that mean any women pregnant who is on USA land has a natural born USA citizen?!?! So if an “illegal” immigrant who was pregnant just stepped on USA soil, would their baby be a USA citizen automatically!?!?!? Even without giving birth yet, you still think it’s a life so…..

i am extremely worried about people who are like, 'if you didn't like the barbie movie i don't trust you'. there are valid fucking reasons to distrust it that don't boil down to 'the dudebros are angry a film about a girl's doll doesn't have a man at centre frame'
the film very much DOES have a man at center frame and the film is really all about how ken's feelings are treated by the barbies (with the 'punishment' for the barbies treating the kens like shit being subjugated to their own oppression for a few hours - creating a weird implication that oppression will be solved if we oppress the oppressors, but only a little bit, and then they'll realise How Wrong They Were).
the criticism of barbie and what she'd done to the self esteem of generations of young girls is handwaived into a single scene that focuses on how barbie of all people feels about it - in a way that reads like barbie's making a fucking beauty guru tier apology. those weren't tiny criticisms but now mattel can claim that the barbie movie addressed it by making barbie sad at the accusations. (also the criticisms were very much related to barbie's thinness and whiteness, but that was erased for a more 'YOU'RE NOT PERFECT' vague message)
barbie's 'i'm a real woman now!' moment is her going to a gynecology exam - it isn't bad on its own, but it's what it's used to symbolize. it's considered the point where barbie is a 'real woman', and equates real womanhood to having a vagina. that would've been one thing but the film was put out by Warner Bros, whose CEO lights up red in shinigami eyes and is the media company behind the continuation of the harry potter franchise long after rowling's hatred and bigotry became mass public knowledge.
so yeah. forgive me if this film strikes me as less feminist than both its predecessors mean girls and legally blonde AND princess and the pauper which had a trans cat or two in it
#'you are loved and you are kenough' shut uuuuuup! you don't mean that!#you want to sell me corporate memes!#i have to watch people i know would know better years ago regurgitate your nonsense and make the corporate schlock you put out#half of their entire personalities#making people i know have stronger capabilities than this into mindless fucking bimbos#who believe your corporate garbage too afraid to shove the boat anywhere away from the pier is the pinnacle of feminism!#where seeing their beloved toy come to life in a vaguely feminist feature becomes the apex of the rights movement#in the same decade we've seen some really fucking bad rollbacks in both legislation with roe vs wade#and in the resurgence in racist anti-queer cishet white woman supremacy framing itself as a Divine Feminine#am i not trustworthy? am i on par with the dudebros because i see these as actual problems you're content to sweep under the rug?

It's been one year since the Supreme Court's Dobbs v. Jackson decision overturned Roe v. Wade. Thousands of lives have already been spared from the violence of abortion. Today is certainly a day to celebrate — but it is also a day to reflect on how far we still have to go.

Those who're "pro-choice" usually don't have any actual arguments. That's why they mostly regurgitate Facebook memes which get thousands of likes/upvotes whenever they're posted. All of them thrive in this echo-chamber.
As someone else had rightfully said, here are three common type of arguments of you'd find:
Denial of biology: They claim that a human fetus conceived by entirely human parents is somehow not human.
Slaver logic: They say that even if it's a human, it shouldn't get any rights until it reaches their entirely arbitrary criteria. That's the same logic which has been used to dehumanize people in the past.
Child neglect argument: That parents should be allowed to kill their children.
The solution is to not be a bigot. Or at least stop pretending that you care about human rights when the reality is that you don't.

Anti-abortion group you should know about.
Anti-abortion group you should know about. Created Equal, lesser-known group--they love to spread their hate to teens and tell them how being LGBTQ+ is a sin.
Conservative, Christian, and Cruel; their homepage distracts from their true horrors.
Their "apologetics" are nothing more than fancy words and (honestly shit) arguments to convince others that a mystical sky being exists.
I have talked to many members who look up to this organization, including teenage girls and upper management. They cheered when Roe v. Wade (2022) was passed.
They have compared restricting women's reproductive rights for their religion's sake to stopping slavery, which enrages me as a POC. They go on yearly trips--"Justice Rides"--and talk to vulnerable people (who have had abortions), telling them that their decision to get one was wrong and thus proselytizing them into Christianity.
Created Equal works heavily with impressionable homeschooled children, introducing them to beliefs of hatred against women and LGBTQ+ folks.
Share this with as many as you can because we have to fight for women's rights; not just women but ALL with the ability to give birth.
We will not be silenced.
We will NOT be denied our bodily autonomy.
WE WILL NOT SUCCUMB TO YOUR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS.
Shaming us for getting/supporting abortions is like That Vegan Teacher shaming people for eating/supporting the consumption of meat. Pretty controlling, right?

In 2020 I was a “vote blue, no matter who” person because Trump was actively making the US worse. It was only for that election as the democrats had at least “we won’t make your lives worse” as a strategy. It is 2024. Life is worse. The “progressive” president is actively funding a genocide, has reneged on several campaign promises, has increased drilling, etc. there’s a whole host of things.
Roe v Wade was gutted, Covid is still a problem, anti queer bills are passing all over the country, cops still suck and Biden has no qualms about it.
The “lesser of two evils” schtick only works if there is a lesser evil and at this point, 100% Hitler vs 99% Hitler is not a significant enough difference.
A line must be drawn somewhere. The dems need to get their shit together and many of you need to seek help. You cannot hand waive a fucking genocide. The shit you claim Trump will do is happening under Biden. Saying a Biden genocide is better than a Trump genocide…fucking deranged. Do you realize how fucking insane you sound.
Biden & the dems are going to fuck themselves over for Israel. They have lied about crimes the IDF has committed. Biden is using OUR money to kill children. You cannot ask people to vote for that. You cannot ask people watching people that look like them and their families to vote for 99% Hitler because 100% Hitler will build a hotel while the former will just leave the land decimated.
Actions have consequences and the dems clearly need some. If Biden loses this year, it is entirely his fault.
Edit: some reblogs proving my point. All I said was you can’t be surprised people aren’t going to vote for Biden. You can’t insult or guilt people who have a right to be pissed. Instead, you fucking weirdos choose to insult me. Ad hominem isn’t an argument and I promise I know how the federal government works, that’s why I’m mad. Biden has power, he’s not a state senator. He has chosen to use that power for literal evil.
Like, am I supposed to change my opinion because you called me weird? I’ll correct one thing. If Biden loses, it will be 98% his fault. The other 2% will be you fucking assholes attacking people with legitimate grievances. Your apathy is disgusting. Something has to give

I have seen a post circulating that talks about US politics and basically insinuates that in the upcoming presidential election, Biden is "99% Hitler" and Trump is "100% Hitler" and it makes me so frustrated that people can't see this as the disinformation and anti-vote propaganda that it is.
I'm intensely frustrated with Biden for how he has acted too little, too late on the Palestine issue, and how the U.S. continues to send billions in arms to Israel. And yet I'm going to be voting for him, and the analogy above is hugely dishonest. There is a massive difference between Biden and Trump:
The Biden administration and Democrats have strongly and unambiguously protected abortion rights, whereas Donald Trump appointed three supreme court justices who overturned Roe vs. Wade, and Republicans have across-the-board passed draconian abortion restrictions far more conservative than even their base.
Biden and the Democrats are strongly pro-LGBTQ rights including trans rights, at a time when Republicans are threatening trans rights in every state they control, and when even mainstream, "center-left" publications like the NY Times have been publishing transphobic drivel.
The Biden administration continues to expand healthcare access and work to control costs whereas the Trump administration worked to undermine much of the coverage we had.
The Trump administration was hopelessly corrupt and dysfunctional, with turnover in most appointed positions, scandal after scandal. Trump committed crime after crime in plain view, and incited an insurrection when he lost the election and has continued to back conspiracy theories undermining the very foundation of our democracy. Biden has been a relatively straightforward, "what you see is what you get" politician over his whole career, with a sort of level of flaws and corruption that is more typical of politics.
Trump had unprecedented anti-immigrant stances and under him, life became much more difficult for immigrants to the US as well as for non-citizens living here legally. Biden's administration has tried and worked against tough resistance to reverse many of the worst immigration changes made under the Trump administration, including doing things like giving 320,000 Venezuelans temporary protected status as refugees, trying to halt the border wall construction, and increasing legal immigration across-the-board.
Biden's rhetoric has become more critical of Israel over time, Biden has called for regime change and the ousting of Netanyahu, and under Biden the US Ambassador finally stopped voting against a ceasefire resolution and only abstained. Whereas Trump and the Republican's rhetoric has retained entirely critical of Palestinians and not at all critical of Israel, and Republicans have consistently supported draconian restrictions such as bans on BDS and some even introducing legislation banning referring to the region as Palestine. And weeks back, when public sentiment was not as anti-Israel as it is now, several Democrats voted for scrutiny to the Israeli military aid, whereas only one Republican did.
I am highly critical of Biden and I too am appalled that he's still running and that we don't have a better candidate who even ran in the primary. But it's far from truthful to say there is only a 1% difference between Biden and Trump, and even more dishonest and inaccurate to call Biden "99% Hitler", that's crazy talk and it serves only one purpose: to demotivate people and suppress voting.
There is a huge difference between these candidates. They will affect my daily life and your daily life and they will affect the whole world and they will affect Palestine.
Do you want a better candidate? Do you want to vote for an idealistic third-party candidate as a protest vote?
Support ranked choice voting first. Then, if you are in a state like Maine or Alaska that allows ranked choice for the president, vote for your ideal candidates and place Biden however low you want and then omit Trump entirely.
But if you do not have ranked choice in your state, especially if you live in a swing state, vote for Biden. And make sure to also join a movement that advances ranked choice, ideally Total Vote Runoff (TVR) as that is the best system for ranked choice.

Pro-lifers normally use the arguements for adoption, even though thousands of children are waiting to be adopted in the USA and millions of children of foster care in world aren't even adopted even once in their life.
There are many c a s e s where the adopted child are abused, raped and forced to work. Many of them are death because of the cruelty which they faced by their family.

If you are in the USA today, go VOTE!!!
So many people only vote in presidential elections when it is the smaller more local elections that have so much control over your lives!!! The president is not a king and can effect NOTHING if they have a hostile congress!! Congresspeople come from smaller local government offices! VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!
If you don't show up to vote against, then you are voting for. A mediocre candidate who votes FOR you in office most of the time is still better than a hostile candidate who will vote against you while in office. If you can't vote for, then at least vote against!
Vote LOCAL!
School Board – Your local School Board is responsible for:
Content of your sex education including gay sex & safety, and all the sexual variants that real people have.
whether gay marriage can be talked about in school
whether a child gets called their chosen name vs their dead name in class.
all policies about trans kids, including anti-bullying policies
whether or not your school has to tell parents that you are identifying as queer. (If a kid is not telling their parents that they are some form of alt/queer/non-b THERE IS A REASON FOR IT. Schools telling these parents can result in abuse, shaming, being kicked out of the house, being 'beaten straight' etc.)
Access to gender affirming care in the clinic or counselor's office
Book bans – school book bans are often used as a step/justification for book bans at the local library.
The content of your history class. Whitewashing slavery. Whitewashing Nazi Germany. Whitewashing colonialism.
And much, much more. In addition, School Boards are often a stepping stone to larger offices. The progression is: School Board, City/County board, State office, National office. If you want state and national officials to support you, you have to grow them at the LOCAL LEVEL!!!
City/County Government:
How much money schools get. (And therefore can effect/dictate policies.)
How much money cops get. (And therefore can effect/dictate policies.)
How much money public services (firemen, local health services, libraries etc) get.
Local government regulations & laws (i.e. being arrested for 'indecency' because you are in drag.)
And again, don't forget that these are the 'feeder' offices that lead to government offices. These people go on to state offices!!
Your STATE Legislature is responsible for:
All abortion policies. Since Roe v. Wade has been tossed there is no federal prevention against any abortion policies.
All sexual health policies. From birth control to sex changes. Their laws can range from sensible to inhumane.
All CIVIL RIGHTS policies that are not explicitly guarded and monitored by the federal government are left up to the states. Take a look at Louisiana, Florida, Mississippi, Arizona, etc. if you want examples.
And, of course, they can dictate policies to smaller municipalities (see City/County).
The most likely State office that leads to the presidency is Governor or a state. If you want better presidents, you need better governors!
Gerrymandering:
“But...but, but... I am gerrymandered so it doesn't make a difference if I vote!!” It DOES! If you are in a gerrymandered district and the crazy left wing crusader wins with a landslide because you DID NOT VOTE, then their party will keep putting in crazy right wing crusaders! If the vote is closer, EVEN IF YOU LOSE, their party is more likely to put in a more centrist candidate because they don't want to risk losing the seat. In addition, voting records are used to determine 1) the NEXT time areas are redistricted and 2) To show severe gerrymandering to courts to OVERTURN gerrymandered districts and force a redistricting. Right now there are people who are wining court case after court case to force redistricting of gerrymandered states and they are using voting data to do so!!! VOTE!!!
Please re-post this. Please blaze this. Please pass it on. PLEASE VOTE!

Look closely enough and you’ll find that Eric Johnson was always a Republican, or at least very susceptible to becoming one. Conservative “Democrats” are one bribe or one hurt feeling away from switching parties.
This highlights the significance of how much more important primaries are, because after the primaries are over, then it becomes an endless chorus of, “vote for the lesser evil” and “vote blue no matter who,” and we have more than enough bad examples of where that can lead to, right??
Honestly, always vote for the most leftist, progressive candidate you can in the primary elections, before it comes down to voting for a Republican vs. Republican-lite in the general election.
I don’t think there are primary elections for mayoral races, but I still love the idea that if a candidate switches political parties (any time after the primaries, I’d suggest), then they should A) not be allowed to hold the office they ran for until they run + win as a member of their new party, B) pay heavy fines from their personal funds, C) they should be forced to resign, and D) the election should be re-done.
The Democratic Party needs to tighten up and make some rules regarding who can and cannot run as a Democrat.
Literally months before SCOTUS overturned Roe v. Wade, Nancy Pelosi was backing a homophobic, anti-abortion, “Democratic” 🙄 candidate named Henry Cuellar, saying that a candidate’s stance on abortion wasn’t important. And Cuellar’s opponent was a young pro-abortion, pro-LGBTQ immigration attorney named Jessica Cisneros! And it was a relatively safe blue district, meaning that whichever Democrat the DNC backed, they were likely to win and a Republican hadn’t won that district in forever. AND before that, Pelosi and the DCCC threw their weight behind another openly homophobic “Democrat” named Dan Lipinski.
Could you even imagine Mitch McConnell or Kevin McCarthy openly throwing their support behind a pro-abortion candidate who wanted gun control? No? So why tf does Democratic leadership constantly foist GOP-lite candidates onto the Democratic Party when other viable options exist?
Just a guess on my part, but if you want fewer anti-abortion laws getting passed, then you should probably back fewer anti-abortion candidates. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
“Vote blue no matter who” has bitten Democrats in the ass wayyy more than any converse slogan has bitten Republicans. Because Republicans actually vet their candidates and make sure that those candidates want the same deplorable things that their deplorable base wants.
And just for clarity, because I know how the internet works and how sycophants love twisting words: I am NOT saying don’t vote for Biden in 2024. I’m not even saying to support a third party candidate. I want Trump and all Republicans gone in the next few election cycles. What I am saying is, once the election is over and hopefully Trump/DeSantis have been vanquished, we need to seriously rework how the Democratic Party has been run. Losing Roe v. Wade is indicative of how poorly it’s been mismanaged.
Anyway, new laws can be made, so especially after the Supreme Court has ignored and undone so many standing legal precedents, I don’t wanna hear jack shit about “pie-in-the-sky” or “be realistic.”
This centrism bullshit ain’t working, yo.
