disclaimer: no hate to anyone literally just writing this is cuz every time i’m on the shuri x reader tag i keep seeing anti namor x shuri debates and posts and i just peacefully wanna read my reader insert fics, to the point where i’m just blocking blogs at this point as a way to clear up the tag (cuz the only ship that needs to be talked about in the reader insert tags are reader x fictional character imo).

no cuz i’m tired of all the discourse surrounding the namor x shuri ship. i get why people have their issues with it, like him killing her mom and plotting against shuri and being 500 y/o etc. but at the end of the day it’s a fictional ship with fictional characters. i used to get annoyed about fictional ships that had similar issues (especially the age thing) but like ultimately as long as you aren’t going around irl approaching relationships with the same ideas (although idk where you’ll find a 500 y/o to date but i digress) then idk what all the hate is about. i mean, AUs exist so maybe he didn’t kill her mom in this AU since that seems to bother people a lot and 500 y/o people don’t exist plus shuri isn’t a minor so this isn’t the same as edward and bella or whatever i’ve seen people comparing it with + thor and jane literally exist. also enemies to lovers!!!! let people enjoy their tropes smh

also again, it’s fictional and i understand if y’all wanna draw boundaries at certain things like i literally do the same but just block the tag and go about your day instead of spamming said tag with hate. there’s just so much holier than thou stuff going around from antis like okay cool you don’t ship them? great! let people who do live (this applies to antis in general).

Let me break this down for you since ur having trouble understanding 😊.

It’s called ENEMIES-to-lovers for a reason. They begin as ENEMIES. Circumstances arise to which characters are forced to work together and in doing so they begin to talk, understand, learn more about each other, etc. Through this they find common ground and develop a STRONGER, DEEPER CONNECTION. And yes, eventually fall in love. This is a typical trope of etl.

I’m not even sure if it’s in the movie that Namor gives a kill order to the guards or if the guards themselves decide it best to kill Shuri. The point is IT DOESNT MATTER BC NAMOR AND SHURI ARE NOT ANYTHING TO EACH OTHER YET.

They only had a short amount of time to learn about each other. Yes, he gave her a dress. Yes, he gave her his mother’s bracelet. That was when he hoped for her trust. For her alliance. (he kinda did wanna go to war with the surface world and he had his reasons but you know how his methods are not very diplomatic. and she tried to reason with him 🤷‍♀️)

Namor is the one who fell hard I think. And the killing of his children was really an unfortunate catalyst for this conflict between Talokan and Wakanda.

But ppl like this ^^ on twitter are just ignorant of what they can’t understand 😙

There are some salty people STILL hanging around the Nashuri tags writing essays and purposely mis-tagging non-Nashuri content. Like, aren’t y’all tired? I’m just enjoying writing my little fanfiction, searching the tags for more lovely content and y’all are in our tags stressed and pressed. Smh. I can’t imagine putting that much energy into hating a fictional ship. I don’t engage with content I don’t enjoy because I’d rather spend my limited free time engaging with content and people that I do enjoy. It baffles me that some of these people would rather bully and harass real-life black women who like the ship in the name of “protecting” a fictional black woman. And I say this as someone who has loved Shuri from day one. Sigh. Oh well.

I haven't posted anything Nashuri related for a while, mainly because of this and other unrelated things. Regarding the allegations of Tenoch, I was shocked when I first heard it, which is why I decided to step away until more information came out. If people want to stop supporting him, then that's their right.

What I find disingenuous is when people use serious allegations and make it about them. I don't believe this is the gacha moment they think it is simply because of their attitude. Notice how hardly any of them tried to speak more about the victim or send them support. They seem to care more about debunking a fictional ship (that they're not personally affected by) than the possibility of someone being abused or assaulted.

Those who used to support Nashuri or are currently on hold are taking a step back because they're genuinely concerned about this possibility whereas antis took an unrelated situation and made it about them and their opinions, but yeah, let us continue being delusional.

As someone who doesn't *really* ship nashuri/namuri *romantically* (am just there for whatever dynamic they may have in the future), antis are a thousand times more annoying and delusional than the shippers.

1) why do they care so much? You would think they are stalking the tags.

2) they love to act like the shippers are over exaggerating what was "basic human interaction", from the tour of talokan to the bracelet, the proposal, sharing their trauma and their fights............Basic human interaction is asking someone direction when your lost. They are quite litteraly the opposite.

3) We can tell whatever dynamic that is between them is intimate and deep, probably because they relate with each other in many ways. (Tenoch even thinks so)

4) it doesn't have to be romantic. ppl have shipped characters for less. Pretending there wasn't *anything* there IS delusional.

5) "but he killed her mom"... Realistically they're never gonna be together beyond an alliance between their kingdom so who cares? Let the shippers have fun, it's fiction.

It’s unfortunate that any of us even feel the need to say this. No one should be harassing anyone over shipping, of all things. There are too many real-world issues and problems out there for people to be spewing this much vitriol and hatred over fictional characters. SHIP AND LET SHIP, people. None of this is real. The fact that some people are out here writing essays, going into the ship tags to bully and harass shippers, wasting their precious time and energy to spread hate is just sad.

I’ve been a fan of Shuri since before the first Black Panther came out, when I was only familiar with the comics iteration of her character. Once Letitia popped on the scene to embody Shuri onscreen, I fell in love instantly, and I’ve been stanning for her since 2018. I’ve seen the first BP film countless times and have watched WF six times (the first five times, I saw it in theaters). My heart broke for Shuri over and over again. I cried with her, cheered for her, laughed with her. I’ve already written several small character studies and drabbles (that will probably never see the light of day) exploring her grief and her journey, simply because I love her that much.

With the unsolicited harassment we as Nashuri shippers have been facing, the only option is to joke and laugh about it. Because it’s laughable that these antis have nothing better to do than to hurl baseless accusations and hate. I refuse to let their nonsense stop me from doing what I want with my own imagination. I love Shuri. I love seeing all the love she is getting from fans. And I’m going to continue to ship her with Namor. And imma have fun doing it.

For new fans or outsiders seeing the Namor x Shuri ship, we do in fact care deeply for shuri, and we do in fact care deeply for Shuri’s pain and Ramonda’s death.

The jokes and dark humor has been a response to the ongoing harassment we have experienced since we started investing in the ship. It is not an accurate reflection of what the majority of the community actually feels or thinks. It’s just an inside joke.

(Speaking for those that are joking - I haven’t seen any takes that were awful and think Ill of Ramonda or shuri but there could be some so idk).

I’m sure there are those who think simply shipping the ship means we dont care, and I can assure you that’s not the case BUT you have every right to feel the way you do!
