Issues I had with Meiko's writing (coming from a former fan of Meiko)
One of the things I disliked while watching the Digimon Adventure Tri movies is that Meiko (the new character for the films) took WAY more focus than the original 8 Digidestined/chosen children. Unfortunately, as well as the burning answer on what happened to the Zero 2 kids (Daisuke/Davis, Miyako/Yolei, Ken, and Iori/Cody) by having Tri’s entire plot ignore their existence until the end of the movie series.
This could be my issue, but I dislike it when a character archetype is known for ONLY being shy. I am shy myself, so my problems don't come from just having that mere personality trait, but having that as a character's ONLY defining trait makes the character dull to watch.
Also, while watching the movies, Meiko felt like someone's fanfic oc AT TIMES when all the characters they interact with adore and love her very much, and she and her Digimon partner are extraordinary throughout the plot's run. There’s nothing wrong with characters that are often well-liked. Still, when it gets to a point where any criticism thrown at Meiko or the situation involving her Digimon occurs, she isn’t given the grace to defend herself. Instead, we have other characters speak up for her (ex: being when Mimi confronted Koushiro, who, although on his part, came off as being too harsh when telling Meiko he needed her intel on looking for the source of the virus affecting her Digimon). In Digimon Movie 2, we saw Mimi learning a lot from her friendship with Meiko (which was excellent). But it's a missed opportunity for Toei not to have the reverse happen and see Mimi's influence impact Meiko.
However, at the same time, why can’t Meiko (as someone who represented a lot of shy people) not be allowed to step outside the character mold that Toei made for her?
Again, when I first watched the Tri movies, I would have gotten defensive at the hate Meiko received because I assumed people were just hating her for her personality. Now, looking back at the movies, I understand some of the alarming issues with her writing.
I feel like she was only made as a character just so the writers could give Taichi a love interest and further establish that the 02 epilogue is still, in fact, canon. Even then, the two of them lacked any chemistry.
I should probably clarify that I don’t hate Meiko as a character, but what has done for her character through Tri. These are just a few critical things that I had about how the writers tried to make her feel more like a self-inserted character (at times) by having all the characters around her adore her and try to make the character lack flaws. They also made it feel like she was only introduced for romance.
I'll have a much different angle of this discussion with more about the difference in writing for what Toei has done to her versus the perception of the 02 kids later

Final part of that AU setting.
( PLEASE DO NOT ADD ANTI-▽ COMMENTS/TAGS ON IT. Like i said before, i do not like fix-it attitude, i prefer AUs instead. AUs are valid and free to our own interpretation. If i see any hate on this or on ▽ you will be immediately blocked ^_^💢 )
[Part one here]
Here’s the final six pages.
Project Mei
Meiko faces her dad, asking more about Meicoomon and her purpose. The old man feels nervous to talk about it, yet he decides Meiko should know. He explains Meicoomon's reason to exist was to create their own squadron of Chosen Children in order to fight menaces from the Digital World. But the Digital World’s Gods hated it and told them to cancel the project.
When Meiko talked about Meicoomon being made to kill digimon, her father elaborated it more, about her not being a total killing machine and she would only kill the enemy if they refused to give up, by injecting a powerful virus in their data. Meiko gets mad, because now this means Taichi, Yamato and their friends’ digimon were infected. The old man strokes his chin, hearing that more digimon might be in trouble. He then refers to Meicoomon also having an antivirus in her program, in case of one of their allies getting infected by accident. This makes Meiko less concerned, but she remembers of some strange parasite digimon consuming her.
Mr. Mochizuki finds it odd, a parasite digimon? And then he receives a call from the Data Bureau agent Nishijima Daigo, to talk about Meicoomon with him and Meiko. The man asks why, but the other couldn’t give details sadly.
Meanwhile, Daisuke tells Koushiro and the others about Himekawa’s offer, and that she could help them. Not that Daisuke believed her, because she was extremely shady and stalking him, but he started to wonder if she wasn’t involved with what happened to Imperialdramon and Meicoomon.Ken thinks that’s possible, but they have not enough evidences to accuse Himekawa. Mimi wonders how Meiko is feeling and offers to talk to her.
Sora thinks it’s too dangerous for them to fight, so she says to only work as their support, Jou apologizes and says he cannot help much since there’s a school exam coming, but he also joins the support cast – in case of them being needed, they will rush to aid their friends. Yamato is afraid of Gabumon’s health, and Taichi decides to keep seeking for Meicoomon in the meanwhile. Daisuke and Ken are also concerned about their partners, but they can’t stay doing nothing, so their help would be investigating stuff for Koushiro. Miyako, Iori, Takeru and Hikari agree to assist Taichi in the search for Meicoomon.
Meiko and her dad are escorted to the Data Bureau HQ, where they meet Nishijima. With him, there’s a pretty man in light robes, Gennai. They came to discuss Meicoomon’s status and destiny. The girl knew this could mean they had to put Meicoomon down, but…
… It was about one of the scientists in the old program contacting them to allow her complete Meicoomon’s program in order to stop the imminent crisis. Meiko raised an eyebrow at this – She was aware Meicoomon’s program was incomplete, but not totally? Like, Meicoomon had been functioning like a legit digimon being, having a heart and such… What could this woman mean?
The said woman was Himekawa, and Meiko was surprised by that revelation. Why would she…
The reveal
The young kids and their seniors were running against the time. Koushiro had copied the papers Meiko had brought him before so he could read them calmly later, and now he was sitting in his office checking them, again. Tentomon wonders if there’s something interesting in those, only to catch with his eyes some detail they skipped.
The developer of the virus program. He then analyzed the data from V-mon and Wormmon’s eggs and noticed it contained an ID number from the papers, which means the mysterious parasite digimon was also human-made. He checked the developer name and… Maybe Daisuke’s suspicion was right.
Mimi talks with Meiko, and the girl seems a little upset. Mimi tries to ask what happened, but Meiko asks to talk with Koushiro as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Taichi and the 02 group report seeing Meicrackmon on the loose, Koushiro tells them to not approach her and prevent her from hurting people and digimon.
Ken and Daisuke are not great at hacking things, so their plan was asking Himekawa how they could save their digimon from getting their data corrupted. Himekawa knew he would come, especially asking for help.
She talks a bit about her developer function in an old project, that she was this close to fixing corrupted digimon data… But the government ceased their activities. Ken asks how they can save their digimon, and she says she couldn’t do anything without the data under the Data Bureau’s server. The boys look at each other, and she asks them to retrieve that data for her.
They would say something, but Koushiro calls Daisuke immediately. The duo leave after saying they would discuss that with their friends. Koushiro gathered all the info given by each party. It was when Meiko connected the dots and messaged Taichi immediately about a detail. Koushiro also understood what that meant, but Daisuke was a little confused. Until he noticed it too.
Taichi and his juniors were in battle right now, and Meicrackmon was Causing a lot of damage. She then mutated again into Raguelmon. She was even more powerful thanks to the parasite digimon. Silphymon, Shakkoumon and WarGreymon weren’t happy with that, neither were their partners.
Meiko, Daisuke and Ken went to the battle scene immediately. It was when the 02 group, Taichi and Meiko saw Himekawa hiding in a spot. Meiko accuses her of manipulating everyone, and the woman smirks.
Of course they caught her. But it’s okay, she got permission to reactivate the project Mei development in order to stop Meicoomon. Why was she using those kids like that?
It was for Bakumon.
Gennai meets Koushiro
During that climax battle, Gennai came in, with Nishijima, to explain details to Koushiro. The decision to not destroy Meicoomon was unanimous and everyone agreed to keep watching her development. But there was another detail they were trying to avoid – Himekawa’s obsession with bringing her partner back. Nishijima says that he was her friend and teammate, witnessing the fall of them. Himekawa’s digimon dark evolved into Mugendramon and attacked the enemies, but lost control and went on rampage. His partner and the others had to evolve further to stop Mugendramon, who returned to digiegg state. The egg got corrupted and was told it couldn’t hatch, but Himekawa refused to believe it and became obsessed with the idea of creating a program able to fix the problem.
They had to stop her, and since she was using her knowledge as a former Chosen Child for the government, they had more reasons to intervene. Daigo joined the Data Bureau as some “spy” for Gennai and Homeostasis, to keep an eye on her. But now they just discovered she was doing some illegal experiments and created a digimon called Shademon, which can control and corrupt other digimon, and especially cause Meicoomon’s incomplete program to go on a rampage. All of that in order to convince the Data Bureau to reactivate the project development.
Koushiro wasn’t aware of those details, but this was what he and Meiko realized. So now he feels a little disturbed by the consequences of that plan, and then he just wishes they could do something to stop Himekawa and save Meicoomon. He shows the other two the copy of the project’s papers and points to the section about Meicoomon’s restore abilities. Tentomon comments that if they all work together, they can find a way to activate said function.
In the Battlefield, the kids, Taichi and Meiko try so desperately to prevent a disaster. Ken calls Koushiro, to update him about their situation; Daisuke was about to snap, but he’s trying to act cool right now. Koushiro then tells Ken to pass the phone to Hikari, and then he asks the girl to use Angewomon’s healing powers on Meicoomon.
Sure, to do that you will need backup right? WarGreymon and Shakkoumon could do it. Miyako says they could call the others if things get bad, which everyone agreed. Silphymon jogress was undone, and Tailmon evolved to Angewomon. The rest should keep Raguelmon occupied and without touching her, while Angewomon could use her healing powers to exorcize the parasite enemy inside her body.
Back to Koushiro’s office, Nishijima and Gennai keep explaining what happened before, and then Gennai revealed that Bakumon’s egg had hatched but the digimon turned into a Dark Master, the one the kids fought before. Tentomon then asks if the Dark Masters had been reborn, and Gennai says their data got locked in the Dark Area. Nishijima exclaims and asks why they didn't tell him before, only to Gennai explain Bakumon had turned into a vile creature so they couldn’t break the news to him or even Himekawa. Nishijima agreed that could’ve been worse than now.
“So this is what she meant by being a ‘former’ Chosen Child” Koushiro muses. Gennai confirms it, they revoked Himekawa’s access to the Digital World and turned her digivice inactive, she was really out of their reach so this was the best option they could find. Nishijima laments that.
Rampaging Meicoomon
Since Angewomon had holy powers able to extinguish evil and heal the good, their idea was simple: Keep Raguelmon occupied, get Angewomon to use Saint Air at her and then take the chance to destroy Shademon.
Easier said than done.
To protect Angewomon from getting hit by Raguelmon’s claws, they would have to stop her first. But how do you stop a digimon from moving without touching them? These were times Daisuke wished Paildramon could help them, but…
Suddenly, a very beautiful digimon woman appeared – it was Rosemon and she used her whip to grab Raguelmon. They looked behind and saw Mimi coming. The group focused on attacking Raguelmon, but not at full force so they could avoid destroying her. When Angewomon approached behind her, the holy angel released a heavenly aura to purify the enemy, but it wasn’t enough to beat Shademon. The group was losing their hopes…
Himekawa knows she can’t let them take Raguelmon away from her hands, or else she would never finish her program to save Bakumon, so she inserted a few more codes to induce a new mutation. The laptop overheats due to the max data loaded in it, making Shademon lose control over Raguelmon, turning her extremely feral.
Raguelmon mutates to another higher form, Ordinemon, and starts corroding the barriers of human and digital worlds. The group of digimon fighting her had to retreat for now. Meiko is mad, she snaps at Himekawa for that, and the woman is terrified – everything got worse. She lost the data, she lost her chances to bring Bakumon back!!
Gennai realizes this could mean the end of both worlds if they don’t take her down, Nishijima requests Gennai to gather his and his friends’ partners, in order to fight alongside those kids. By that request, Gennai tells Daigo to bring his friends as soon as possible, and leaves in order to gather the Holy Beasts. Koushiro is intrigued, but he decides to keep helping them all as soon as possible. Koushiro’s desire to help everyone with his knowledge unlocks the HerakleKabuterimon form (outside the building, of course), which he rides in, taking Nishijima with him.
Jou, Yamato and Sora come in, concerned with what was happening. Jou couldn’t take a test at this hour! So he grabbed Gomamon and pedaled his bike til the heart of the battle. Yamato and Sora came together, afraid of what could happen to Taichi, the younger kids and Meiko. Their wishes to protect their beloved ones and their loyalty to their friends unlocked Hououmon and Vikemon for Piyomon and Gomamon. MetalGarurumon carried Yamato and Sora to the battlefield.
The group, almost complete, started to fight Ordinemon as an attempt to stop her. Daisuke clenches his fists, because all he could do was watch. Ken felt even more useless, but he knows even without their seniors being able to evolve their partners, Taichi and the others were able to find ways to help. He had witnessed it, as the Kaiser. Himekawa is still petrified by her mistakes, so she does not notice Ken taking the busted laptop from the ground. He knew soon or later this would come handy, and, if they’re lucky, they can remove the HD disc and connect it to Koushiro’s computer at the office.
They had no other option but to escort people away from that area. Himekawa had no other option but to go with them, and call the Data Bureau to secure the area.
Himekawa discovers the truth about Bakumon
They went back to Koushiro’s office and their digimon just jumped inside the pocket dimension inside the server (Miyako has full access to it, remember?) so it didn’t feel too crowded outside. When Miyako tried to contact Koushiro, the boy replied that he and Nishijima went to gather the Holy Beasts’ partners in order to save the world.
Daisuke went to check the V-mon and Wormmon eggs, just to distract his head for a while. They were fine, but still not hatching. He wouldn’t force it though, he preferred to expect his and Ken’s partners to come at their own pace. Ken was worried about Daisuke’s mental health so he just went to ask if he was okay, and the other boy replied “Yeah, I’m better now. No worries.” which made both smile, one in relief.
Jou and Meiko were staring at Himekawa, who was still lost in her thoughts, broken inside actually. Patamon asks from the screen what they should do with her, and Takeru decides they should at least ask her some info. Taichi is not sure if Himekawa would help them out though. Ken tries connecting the HD disc to Koushiro’s computer with Miyako’s help, and by a great miracle it was still running. They decide to examine its contents, while Jou, Taichi, Yamato and Takeru watch the woman. Iori inspects the HDD with Ken and Miyako. Daisuke is still quietly watching the eggs, and Hikari, Mimi and Sora try to help Meiko cool off.
Meiko had her own reasons to dislike Himekawa after this. And the group was trying to fix Himekawa’s mess, and Daisuke now was aware who was the culprit for what happened to Imperialdramon. But he tries to not get involved with the interrogation, he needs to cool off as well! He needs to cool off…! He and Meiko actually. Sora takes both outside and try to hear them out.
Daisuke growls about what happened, but he doesn’t want to fight a younger adult. Meiko vents about knowing Himekawa for years and never expected her to do something like that before, but now she noticed the red flags. But deep down both Daisuke and Meiko noticed something strange in Himekawa, something they couldn’t be totally mad at her and yes feel pity for. Sora wonders what it would be, and Meiko says “She’s lonely” Daisuke remembers of the dude, Nishijima, who had said to be her ex-boyfriend. All three start thinking of why she would do something like that, if she had a boyfriend before…
Himekawa is still in shock. But she’s coming back down to Earth, little by little. When the kids ask her about what she was aiming for she mentions that her goal was trying to save a digimon from data corruption. Mimi frowns, so that lady had noble reasons… Himekawa continues by saying the Project Mei was her chance to cure data corruption, how close she was from it until the government ceased their operations. Hikari almost snapped, and Taichi saw it in her eyes. Someone connected with the power of life itself like her would feel this narrative was too soulless and toying with the concept of life.
Sora took Daisuke and Meiko to go buy something for them all to eat and drink. The investigation outside gets more and more creepy, as Himekawa starts feeling delusional in front of them, saying maybe now they will let her finish her job! Maybe now she will see Bakumon once again! Hikari snapped politely, “That’s not how you will get your partner back!” and everyone is shocked. She continues: “Meicoomon is suffering right now because of your actions, she’s not a toy! She’s not a tool! V-mon and Wormmon are in the Digiegg stage because of you! ” – That definitely made them all silently look at Hikari, until Takeru says he agrees with her.
Koushiro calls them, saying he and Nishijima just reunited the Holy Beasts’ partners and they’re moving ahead to the battle field. Taichi and Yamato decide they should meet with them and fight Meicoomon. Seven of them agreed, but Miyako said they would stay there trying to find any useful information to help them. Thus, Taichi and the others leave. Piyomon says she wants to go but Sora’s not back yet– And Sora, Daisuke and Meiko come in, with food. Daisuke asks where’s everyone and Iori says they went to face Meicoomon. Piyomon tells Sora she wants to go, and then Daisuke comments she should go and take Meiko with them. Sora’s not sure about this, she doesn’t want to fight a friend’s digimon… Only to Daisuke put a hand on her shoulder and say this would’ve been what Meicoomon wanted. Meiko is a little antsy, but she gets it – Mei-chan would prefer to be destroyed than keep hurting innocent people, especially her friends and family. With those kind words and encouragement, Meiko, Sora and Piyomon go after Taichi and the others. Miyako and Iori smile, because they know exactly where Daisuke got this lesson from.
The group joined forces with the previous generation – Higashikata (Qinglongmon), Kitabayashi (Xuanwumon), Minamino (Zhuqiaomon) and Nishijima (Baihumon) – for this battle. They examined all of their possibilities, but Ordinemon had strong defense by creating dark digimon from her wings. Omegamon was good with numbers, so they decided to let it take care of it. Koushiro analyzed the other Final form digimon’s specialties – and then he discovered Hououmon has an ability which could purify Meicoomon. “Maybe if we combine the divine power of the Holy Beasts with Hououmon’s special ability…”
Holydramon, Seraphimon, Rosemon and Vikemon were in the same group fighting evil digimon while opening the path for Hououmon and the Holy Beasts. It felt a terrible risky idea, but they wanted to give it a shot.
The Miyako, Ken and Iori were so busy searching for anything they could use to stop Ordinemon that they didn’t notice Himekawa leaving the room, but Daisuke did and went after her. The Lady had lost her composure and was trying her best to ‘Save Bakumon’ that the poor boy couldn’t keep watching that disastrous talk. But nothing he could say would make her stop right… She’s beyond salvation. It was when Gennai appeared from a security camera and stood in front of her. Daisuke approached cautiously to hear their conversation. This is how he and Himekwawa learned about Bakumon’s fate – Bakumon had hatched but became a vile creature, and then evolved straight into Megidramon, becoming a Dark Master. Daisuke wonders if said Dark Master was the one Taichi and the others had fought before, and this was exactly what Gennai said next. Mugendramon’s data was sent to the Dark Area, sealed alongside the other three Dark Masters.
Himekawa Maki does not believe it, and condemns Gennai and the others for destroying Bakumon. Daisuke couldn’t stand that and approached a little more. She screams, and falls on her knees, crying loudly and holding Gennai’s robes. Gennai himself did not like to bring bad news, and Daisuke knew it. So, the boy tries to talk with Himekawa… But she was too deep into madness to hear a child out. Gennai apologizes for this, but she does not listen. Suddenly, Data Bureau agents appear and take Himekawa under custody. Daisuke gets confused about how did those people know, only to find out he got something like a small spy wire attached to his goggles. “Since when…!?” It was probably the time he went to save Imperialdramon, maybe??
(No. It was implanted on his goggles when he first met Nishijima. )
Saving Meicoomon
They had to take that chance and purify Ordinemon, so they didn’t want to waste it. The moment they had it, Hououmon and the Holy Beasts gathered their powers and Hououmon used her Starlight Explosion on Ordinemon’s body. Since it was amplified by the godly and holy power of the Holy Beasts, Ordinemon started to be purified.
Ordinemon then converted into Rasielmon. The gloomy atmosphere changed drastically, filled with hope and happiness. Meicoomon didn’t die, and she was purified from Shademon… Which got destroyed by Omegamon’s cannon attack the moment it left Rasielmon’s body.
Rasielmon apologized for her acts, but the kids and the previous Chosen said it wasn’t her and Meiko’s fault. Meiko was so thankful her digimon had turned back to normal. Before reverting into Meicoomon again, Rasielmon said she had to do one more thing, and rushed to Koushiro’s office at the speed of light. Meiko wonders what it is, but the other eight were pretty sure what it was.
Daisuke returned to the office, where Miyako, Ken and Iori were ready to leave and meet their seniors. They say they found out a way to help in the battle and Daisuke grins. Suddenly, Rasielmon appears in a smaller size to not destroy the room and talks to the four. An unfazed Ken then comments “Maybe they solved it without us…” and Daisuke sighs, he wanted to help them all so badly…
Rasielmon then moves to the room with V-mon and Wormmon’s eggs and uses her powers to heal them, making them hatch. Iori finds this curious, only to remember the files said Meicoomon has also an antidote to her own virus program. The eggs hatched into Chicomon and Leafmon, making Daisuke so thankful he immediately hugged Rasielmon as his way to thank her.
Ken also thanks her, but in his own way by bowing and being polite. Rasielmon giggles, and then disappears. She returns to also heal the other eight’s digimon as her apologies, then reverted into Meicoomon and fell on Meiko’s arms.
A few weeks later, Taichi and the group heard some good news regarding Meicoomon: Hououmon and the Holy Beasts’ powers supposedly had helped to finish her program, becoming more stable and suitable for interacting with other people and digimon. Data samples of her special ability – by infecting and controlling digimon with a virus – were used to create vaccines in any case of her accidentally infecting civilized/pacific digimon. Nishijima asked Meiko’s parents to allow her and Meicoomon to be part of the Data Bureau as some honorary agent. Daisuke commented he was a little jealous about that, and that it would’ve been cool to work as some special agent. Koushiro jokes about him already serving in some special unit only to make him go like “??! Really!? Am I a secret agent!?” only to Taichi cut the joke by saying he needs to get a little more mature to handle special agent business. They all laugh, and then they all return to their daily routines.

Experiment AU: The Subjects
From Agent Mi's (VS Miku's) notes. Under the cut for length.
Note that Agent Ru is L/n Luka, Agent Ri is MMJ Rin, Agent Re is VBS Len, Agent Ka is WxS KAITO, and Agent Me is 25ji/N25 MEIKO.
Subject 001, given name Hoshino Ichika, age 17; responded to a call for test subjects with Subject 003. The subject’s parents were compensated, and the subject was taken into Agent Ru’s care. Despite not being the first to arrive, Subject 001 was the first experiment. The hybrid transformation via electrocution using ectoplasm as a conduction material was successful, and the subject has standard ghost abilities and can manipulate air. Keep a close eye on Subject 001 and do not let the subject use the air manipulation unless in anti-ecto suits; Subject 001 will literally attempt to take away your breath if agitated. As a human, the subject has black hair and icy-blue/gray eyes; as a ghost, the subject has white hair and sky-blue eyes. (Not in the notes: uses they/them pronouns.)
Subject 002, given name Tenma Saki, age 17; was the first subject brought to us. The subject was brought to us from a children’s hospital in hopes that our experiments could help the subject’s condition (pediatric multiple sclerosis and epilepsy). The subject’s older sibling, Subject 013, came with Subject 002, though only Subject 002 was placed in the care of Agent Ru. The subjects' parents were compensated. After the successful transformation of Subject 001, Subject 002 was transformed the same way. Although the subject’s transformation was less stable to begin with, Subject 002 showed better health after (fewer remissions and seizures). Subject 002 has most standard ghost abilities and the ability to heal others. The subject also has an increased healing factor compared to the other hybrids. Subject 002 cannot fly at high speeds, teleport, or duplicate. As a human, the subject has blonde hair that fades to light pink, and pink eyes; as a ghost, the subject has light blue hair that fades to pale green, and yellow eyes.
Subject 003, given name Mochizuki Honami, age 17; responded to a call for test subjects with Subject 001. The subject’s parents were compensated, and the subject was taken into Agent Ru’s care. Rather than using the electrocution method used on Subjects 001 and 002, Subject 003 was given an infusion of ectoplasm via an intravenous line. The transformation, while slow, was successful, though it caused the subject great physical pain as well as seizures and high fevers (over 40°C) that nearly killed the subject before the transformation took hold. Subject 003 has standard ghost abilities and very limited cosmic energy manipulation. Subject 003 has a specialized room for testing cosmic energy manipulation in the event that the subject’s power grows stronger. As a human, the subject has light rosy-brown hair and light blue eyes; as a ghost, the subject has light silver-blue hair and light red eyes.
Subject 004, given name Hinomori Shiho, age 17; the subject came to us after the acquisition of Subject 008, as the two are siblings. The subject was allowed to know Subject 008 was okay, but learned too much about the experiments and attempted to escape. As a last-ditch effort, the subject was given an intramuscular sedative injection mixed with ectoplasm. Despite developing high fever (over 40°C) with seizures, a semi-stable core developed, and the subject was placed in Agent Ru’s care. An intravenous infusion of ectoplasm stabilized the core and completed the transformation. Subject 004 has most standard ghost abilities and sound wave manipulation. Test all abilities in a specially soundproofed room, as Subject 004 is likely to try and escape. Subject cannot duplicate, but has grown duplicate body parts. As a human, the subject has silver-gray hair and bright green eyes; as a ghost, the subject has dark green hair and yellow-green eyes. (Not in the notes: uses he/they pronouns.)
Subject 005, given name Hanasato Minori, age 17; found after a failed idol audition and was offered a spot in our testing under Agent Ri. Following the transformations that nearly killed Subjects 003 and 004, the transformation method reverted back to electrocution. Subject 005 was successfully transformed, but developed a Lichtenberg scar on the left leg up to the chest due to too-high voltage. The scar glows when the subject’s abilities are in use. The subject also developed epilepsy following the transformation, though the seizures are largely controlled with medication; despite this, the subject does have occasional absence seizures. Subject 005 has standard ghost abilities and hope manipulation. Hope manipulation for the subject primarily takes the form of constructs, though has been used to motivate others as well. Subject 005 does not fly well; possibly related to occasional absence seizures. The subject is also incredibly enamored by Subject 006. As a human, the subject has light brown hair and light gray eyes; as a ghost, the subject has silver hair and pale orange eyes.
Subject 006, given name Kiritani Haruka, age 17; we reached out to the subject after the subject quit the idol industry and disbanded the idol group ASRUN. Patient agreed to our tests and was taken into Agent Ri’s care. Subject was placed into a medically-induced coma and cooled to 33°C prior to intravenous infusion of ectoplasm. The cooling prevented high fevers, and the subject showed no complications coming out of the coma. However, the transformation was unstable, with a severely underdeveloped core. A mild electrocution stabilized the subject’s core, and the subject showed no side effects beyond pain, which faded over the course of a day. Subject 006 has standard ghost abilities and astral manipulation; however, many of the subject’s abilities are weaker than the other subjects’, likely from the original underdeveloped core. As a human, the subject has dark blue hair and blue eyes; as a ghost, the subject has clover-green hair and pale blue eyes. (Not in the notes: uses he/they pronouns.)
Subject 007, given name Momoi Airi, age 18; we reached out to the subject after the subject quit the idol industry. Patient agreed to our tests and was taken into Agent Ri’s care. The transformation method was once again electrocution using ectoplasm as a conduction material, but lower voltages were used than those on Subject 005. The transformation was successful, and the subject has standard ghost abilities and can manipulate sensory perceptions of others. Be careful around Subject 007, as the subject is highly temperamental. As a human, the subject has coral-pink hair and reddish-pink eyes; as a ghost, the subject has turquoise hair and light pink eyes. (Not in the notes: male-female bigender, uses she/her pronouns.)
Subject 008, given name Hinomori Shizuku, age 18; we reached out to the subject after the subject quit the idol industry. Patient agreed to our tears and was taken into Agent Ri’s care. Before experiments could begin, the subject's sibling (Subject 004) demanded to see that Subject 008 was okay and learned a bit too much. Despite a successful transformation, Subject 008 suffered a cardiac arrest after electrocution and died for approximately five minutes; however, the stable core minimized damage to the human half, resulting in only minor brain damage from hypoxia. Subject 008 has most standard ghost abilities and can manipulate plants. Someone is to be with the subject at all times, as the subject is incredibly forgetful and bad with directions. Subject 008 has difficulty maintaining intangibility, invisibility, and flight. As a human, the subject has very pale blue hair and light blue eyes; as a ghost, the subject has pale pink hair and seafoam-green eyes.
Subject 009, given name Asusawa Kohane, age 17; responded to a call for test subjects with Subjects 010, 011, and 012. The subject's parents were properly compensated, and Subject 009 was placed under agent Re’s care. The subject’s transformation went without issues, although the subject's grasp over the new abilities was highly unstable at first. The instability was caused by an undiagnosed anxiety disorder; after being properly medicated, the subject quickly gained control. Subject 009 has standard ghost abilities and can manipulate water. It is not known if the subject can manipulate the water in your body, so always be in an anti-ecto suit with the subject. The subject cooperates best with Subject 010. As a human, the subject has pale sandy-blonde hair and light brown eyes; as a ghost, the subject has violet-pink hair and hot-pink eyes. (Not in the notes: uses she/they/he pronouns.)
Subject 010, given name Shiraishi An, age 17; responded to a call for test subjects with Subjects 009, 011, and 012. The subject’s parents were properly compensated, and Subject 010 was placed under agent Re’s care. Despite agreeing to testing, the subject attempted to escape after the transformation of Subject 009. The subject had to be tranquilized before transformation, which was ultimately successful. However, the subject is severely phasmophobic and does not cooperate with testing. We believe Subject 010 has most, if not all, standard ghost abilities and can manipulate heat/fire. We are trying anti-anxiety medication on the subject for future tests in hopes that Subject 010 will cooperate. The subject seems more willing to cooperate with Subject 009, and bickers with Subject 011 in a friendly manner. As a human, the subject has black hair that fades to dark blue, and amber eyes; as a ghost, the subject has white hair that fades to amber, and turquoise eyes.
Subject 011, given name Shinonome Akito, age 17; responded to a call for test subjects with Subjects 009, 010, and 012. The subject’s parents were properly compensated, and Subject 011 was placed under Agent Re’s care. Despite being temperamental with a sharp tongue, after we acquired the subject’s sibling (Subject 019), the transformation was successful. Subject 011 has standard ghost abilities and can manipulate lightning. All testing must be done with agents in anti-ecto rubber suits. The subject cooperates best with Subject 012, and bickers with Subject 010 in a friendly manner. As a human, the subject has bright red hair with a dyed blond streak in the bangs, and olive-green eyes; as a ghost, the subject has dark blue hair with a white streak in the bangs, and bright orange eyes.
Subject 012, given name Aoyagi Touya, age 17; responded to a call for test subjects with Subjects 009, 010, and 011. The subject’s parents were properly compensated, and Subject 012 was placed under Agent Re’s care. The transformation of the subject was successful; however, the transformation worsened the subject’s existing chronic hand pain. Subject 012 has standard ghost abilities and can manipulate darkness/shadows. The subject is acrophobic, and while the subject can fly fine, the subject is generally reluctant to do so. The subject cooperates best with Subject 011, and is generally the one to keep the other subject calmer. As a human, the subject has split-colored hair that is dark blue on the right and pale blue on the left, and gray eyes; as a ghost, the subject has split-colored hair that is silver on the right and gold on the left, and royal blue eyes. (Not in the notes: uses he/they pronouns.)
Subject 013, given name Tenma Tsukasa, age 18; the subject came with Subject 002, as the two are siblings. Subject 013 was placed in Agent Ka’s care, though was allowed free visiting to Subject 002, and later Subject 012 (a friend who might as well be another sibling). The subject was transformed without issues. Subject 013 has standard ghost abilities and can manipulate visible light. Always wear specialized eye protection (and ear protection–the subject is extremely loud) when working with the subject. The subject is also incredibly dramatic and showy. As a human, the subject has blond hair that fades to peach-orange, and orange-yellow eyes; as a ghost, the subject has light violet hair that fades to dark blue, and golden eyes.
Subject 014, given name Ootori Emu, age 17; the subject was sent to us by the subject’s family following the death of the subject's grandfather. They did this in order to demolish the stage the subject insisted on keeping at a theme park. The subject’s family was compensated, and the subject was placed in Agent Ka’s care. Subject 014 developed depression after arrival, but masked it heavily. The subject’s transformation was successful, though Lichtenberg scars (which glow when the subject's abilities are used) developed on the subject’s arms (possibly related to the subject’s Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome diagnosis). The subject’s arms also developed mild neuropathy. Subject 014 has standard ghost abilities and can manipulate happiness. The subject’s happiness manipulation is similar to Subject 005’s hope manipulation. As a human, the subject has light pink hair and light pink eyes; as a ghost, the subject has bright blue hair and bubblegum-pink eyes. (Not in the notes: uses any pronouns.)
Subject 015, given name Kusanagi Nene, age 17; the subject responded to a call for test subjects with Subjects 016 and 020. The subject is selectively mute as a result of social anxiety, and is usually kept with Subject 016. The subject's transformation was successful; however, the subject developed chronic pain and fatigue as a side effect. Despite struggling to maintain the abilities due to the pain and fatigue, Subject 015 has most standard ghost abilities and can manipulate metal. The subject’s anxiety has not improved with current medications; further dosage testing is required. The subject cannot fly well, duplicate, teleport, or form strong ectoplasmic constructs; the subject primarily uses metal for shielding. As a human, the subject has very pale grayish-green hair and light violet eyes; as a ghost, the subject has pink-tinted black hair and light green eyes. (Not in the notes: uses she/they/it pronouns.)
Subject 016, given name Kamishiro Rui, age 18; the subject responded to a call for test subjects with Subjects 015 and 020. The subject often helps Subject 015 communicate, so the two are kept close to each other. The subject’s transformation happened alongside Subject 015’s; unlike the other subject, this transformation had no major side effects. Subject 016 has standard ghost abilities and can manipulate electromagnetic energy. The subject is never to be left without supervision and is not allowed access to any tools. Subject 016 was already caught attempting to build something (claiming it as a robot for Subject 015 to communicate better). As a human, the subject has light purple hair with cyan streaks and pale yellow eyes; as a ghost, the subject has light blue hair with dark purple streaks and violet eyes. (Not in the notes: uses any pronouns.)
Subject 017, given name Yoisaki Kanade, age 18; after Subject 003 agreed to be a test subject, Subject 017’s grandmother sent the subject to our care (Subject 003 was Subject 017’s housekeeper, and Subject 017 had no guardians that can care for the subject; the subject's mother is dead, the subject's father is comatose, and the subject's grandmother cannot care for the subject). The subject was put in Agent Me’s care, though the subject fell into deeply unhealthy habits of neglecting personal needs over composing music–even without proper musical equipment. After a very strict feeding and antidepressant regiment, the subject was transformed successfully. Subject 017 has most standard ghost powers and can manipulate music; however, the subject’s powers (except for music manipulation) are weak, likely due to the subject's poor personal care. In addition, the subject suffers debilitating chronic migraines. Please ensure Subject 017 eats, sleeps, and takes medication on a regular basis. The subject cannot duplicate or teleport. As a human, the subject has very pale silver-blue, almost white, hair and light blue eyes; as a ghost, the subject has black hair and dark pinkish-purple eyes. (Not in the notes: pronoun-indifferent.)
Subject 018, given name Asahina Mafuyu, age 18; subject was sent to us by the subject’s parents, and the parents were properly compensated. The subject appeared pleasant at first, but upon realizing the reason the subject was here, the mask dropped completely. The subject became cold and withdrawn, and revealed an inability to taste anything. It was only Subject 017’s composing that helped Subject 018 become cooperative. After starting a strict antidepressant regiment, the subject was transformed successfully, though Lichtenberg scars developed on the subject’s right arm, which glow when subject's abilities are in use. The subject also reports occasional pain in the right arm. Despite this, Subject 018 has standard ghost abilities and can manipulate cold/ice. Music, especially Subject 017’s music, is almost required to have the subject cooperate. As a human, the subject has dark purple hair and eyes with a gradient from dark purple to sky-blue; as a ghost, the subject has pale blue hair and eyes with a gradient from indigo to periwinkle. (Not in the notes: uses he/it/no pronouns.)
Subject 019, given name Shinonome Ena, age 18; subject came to us in search of Subject 011, as the two are siblings. Not taking any further risks after what happened with Subject 004, the subject was tranquilized and put into Agent Me’s care. The subject’s parents were told the subject has responded to a call like Subject 011, and they were properly compensated. The subject was transformed successfully, with no lasting issues. Subject 019 has standard ghost abilities and can manipulate the earth. Like Subject 011, the subject is very temperamental, and the subject bickers often with Subject 020. Despite this, the two get along well. Subject 019 must be observed at all times to ensure the subject does not use terrakinesis to attempt an escape. As a human, the subject has dark rosy-brown hair and brown eyes; as a ghost, the subject has bright pink hair and light brown eyes.
Subject 020, given name Akiyama Mizuki, age 17; the subject responded to a call for test subjects with Subjects 015 and 016, claiming it was to escape bullying. The subject's parents were properly compensated, and the subject was placed in Agent Me’s care. The subject was the final one transformed, and the transformation went without issues. Subject 020 has standard ghost abilities and can manipulate illusions. The subject bickers with Subject 019 in a friendly manner almost constantly; the subject also found a sort of kindred spirit in Subject 018. Be extremely careful with Subject 020’s illusions, as they are extremely difficult to differentiate from reality. As a human, the subject has pale pink hair and pale pink eyes; as a ghost, the subject has pale silver hair and pale dusty rose-pink eyes. (Not in the notes: uses she/they pronouns.)

@alpaca-clouds @alpaca-clouds @alpaca-clouds I asked you once and you blatantly ignored me, so I'm taking it to main because you clearly don't give a care to acknowledge I commented to you directly about this. This post will remain on my blog until you delete the gif.
REMOVE MY MEIKO GIF FROM YOUR ANTI POST. THANKS
My personal Digimon season ranking
Given August is Digimon month, I cannot help but do one of these. Because, oh boy. I have not made one of those in a long, long while.
Now, let me tell you one thing clear: I have been in the Digimon fandom since Adventure started airing 2000 in Germany. I still vividly remember getting into the show and what the first episodes I watched were. I have obsessed about this show for so long...
But I also have unpopular opinions when it comes to the seasons. So let me get to those.
And please note: I will not list Digimon Adventure: (2020), as I only watched the first 22 episodes and then just dropped it. But I will list Digimon Adventure tri., though it is not quite a season.
#1 Digimon Tamers
My number one Digimon season is and will probably always be Digimon Tamers. This show really has no right to be as good as it is. Like, holy shit. This show went so hard in so many regards.
It really is the only season of Digimon that has something like a proper pacing. With only a couple of episodes being actual filler, while most do progress either story or character arcs. And those character arcs are so fucking good.
When I was a kid, I got so hooked on Ruki, because she was just such a good female character. But by now I do appreciate them all. (Well, Ryou maybe less, but that is a story for another day. Because he is one of those examples where I also grew up on those games and I love game!Ryou...)
Also, the amount of amazing background characters is kinda hilarious. Like, background figures like Janyuu, Yamaki or Shibumi are so well written.
Not to mention: For a 2001 merchandise TV show with 51 episodes, the animation has no business being as good as it is. How is it, that this series still has better animation than some of the later series?!
So, yeah, all around great show. Love it. Will rewatch most certainly a couple more times.
#2 Digimon Universe Applimonsters
And while a lot of people will absolutely understand, why I put Tamers in first place, pretty much most people will not get, why I would put Appmon in second place. Because other than Tamers this has a ton of filler episodes.
But to me none of that really matters, based on the fact that I just love the freaking character writing in this show, all the references to computer history and also... The fact that this show is gay as fuck. I mean, holy fuck, the entire Haru/Yuujin thing? Yeah, it warms my little queer heart so much!
But other than that it is another series where I really just love all the characters a ton. Haru is probably the goggle boy I relate to most out of all of Digimon. But I also really loved the other characters in this series, including the Digimon partners and what not.
So, yeah, to me this is my second favorite Digimon show.
#3 Digimon Savers
Masaru in a way is the polar opposite character to Haru, isn't he? While Haru is this soft spoken, introverted guy, Masaru is just this pure hardcore masculinity! GAAAAR! So, while I do like him less as a character than I like Takato or Haru, I did enjoy the writing in this show quite a lot. There were a ton of personal stakes to the story, that the others seasons did not bring in as much as this show did. And that was something I really enjoyed.
And while it got ridiculous at times, I also liked how Masaru was a bit more involved in the battles by punching stuff. Though I kinda am sad that they did not go with that original concept where all the characters would've been able to punch stuff.
I also enjoyed that the characters were a bit older in this, though ironically my favorite characters from the season are Chika and Ikuto.
#4 Digimon Ghost Game
There might be some bias here based on the fact alone that it is the most recent season of the franchise. But even though it was basically 100% episodic, I did enjoy almost every one of those episodes. Basically the show is 100% vibes for me, but oh boy, do I love those vibes.
I find this season kinda weird in terms of how it kinda pushed for two Digimon/human ships, with Ruli/Angoramon clearly being coded into the text, while it is also fairly clear that Jellymon is romantically interested in Kiyo. I mean, there always were seasons where you could definitely go for Digimon/human ships....... but it was never like this. But then again: All power to the monster fuckers, right? xD
And yeah... Being a fan of the horror genre, I absolutely adored how many episodes were based around classical horror stories from all around the world. That was so freaking fun! :D
#5 Digimon Adventure 02
Okay, let me make one thing clear: Digimon Adventure 02 is not a good series. It is not. Knowing what I know about how chaotic it was behind the scenes, aka how chaotic and cursed this production was, this is also not a big surprise. I disliked the show for this for quite long. I mean, there is tons of filler and the animation is soooooo bad in soooo many episodes. I mean, there is a ton of fan animation that is better than this series. But...
It also is kinda charming.
See, the thing about this show is, that I kinda still do like how the characters develop over the show and how... positive a lot of it is. The characters are sweet with each other and even with their enemies. And a huge chunk of the show is also dedicated to the characters outright trying to rebuild the digital world.
Also, this show has Ken, who to this day is one of my favorite Digimon characters. So, fuck it. I actually still kinda like it.
#6 Digimon Frontier
Fun Fact: I grew up with the Japanese dub of Digimon, but Digimon Frontier is the one season, where I actually kinda liked the US Dub, just based on the US soundtrack for this show. I really kinda liked the vibe it had.
In a way I do feel that this show had in fact the strongest character designs out of all of Digimon. The characters just have the right level of detail. They do not look overdesigned, but also not too simple. I really digged that. And yes, as a kid I cosplayed Takuya a lot.
To me the series just mostly suffers when it comes to the pacing. Not because of the fillers really (I am fine with fillers, as long as the fillers are fun), but rather in terms of the Cherubimon-arc being sooooo long and everything happening after it feeling kind of like an afterthought.
But I still very much like the characters. I just wished they did not make Junpei a glutton. One fat character who isn't a glutton. Is that so much to ask?
#7 Digimon Xros Hunters
For anyone now going like: "But this is not even a series on its own!" I will kindly ask you: "Shut up, this is my list." Because those couple of episodes from Xros Wars that were clearly just meant to fill the timeslot for a couple more weeks, do have a very different vibes from the rest of the show.
Now, this also is basically just filler + then the crossover event. But... At times this was kinda sweet. I liked the vibes this show had at times and some of the characters were kinda likeable.
And I really liked the opening.
It was not good. Definitely wasn't. But there was stuff about it I liked.
#8 Digimon Adventure
Yeah, let's get to my most controversial Digimon opinion: I do not like Digimon Adventure a lot. I really don't. Some of the characters are fine, yes, but... I do not like a lot more of this show. Mostly because I fucking hate the crest system and how morally simplistic the show is, with the bad guys just all being bad guys with not much depth. Meanwhile most of the characters are horribly underwritten and have their entire character arcs rushed through within like two episodes.
And I just hate Yamato and how the show just tries to excuse all of his bullshit. There. I said it. I think he is a horrible character. A horrible brother. And a horrible friend. So, yeah, fuck him.
And Nishizono, the showrunner, had no plan where he was going when he started writing. Not entirely his fault, given that he inherited a production that two other writing teams already had abandoned. But maaaaaan, it shows.
#9 Digimon Xros Wars
What is there to say?
Digimon Xros Wars sucked. It sucked. And to this day I wonder what the drama behind the scenes was. We know there was drama (given the showrunner abandoned the production half-way through!) but details are sparse even ten years later.
But, yeah. Taiki is a fucking Gary Stu and the plot just shifts around him. The story is a whole mess. The female characters get sexualized to no end. Everyone who is not Taiki gets sidelined constantly. The animation is inconsistent. And what not.
And the really sad fact: The manga is so fucking good.
I am fairly certain that most issues are because of production drama. And one day I am gonna find out what that drama was.
#10 Digimon Adventure tri.
Digimon Adventure tri. is one of the things that by themselves are not good, but get really bad once you consider the universe it is set in. It is one of those things put into an existing canon without honoring the existing canon at all.
It just ignores basically everything happening in 02. The character developments from anything that has happened before. The 02 characters are just not there. The "original chosen children" exist and yet the OVA does not give them the attention they deserve. And Meiko is just... Oh boy. Meiko is just a horrible character for so many reasons.
It is just fucking sad that this exists. So fucking sad. Just why?!
Also, for OVAs the animation is so bad. Soooooo bad.

Digimon - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 22, 23, 25, 26, 27.
Will answer the ones I can.
1. Matt/Sora, Tai/Meiko, and Takuya/Zoe. The former might've been planned but it didn't end up materializing on-screen so 02 forcing it anyway sort of kills its appeal for me, there was NO solid resolution with Meiko which rendered any ship teases meaningless, and I don't see where Takuya/Zoe even comes from, it's a boring idea anyway. 2. Takato/Rika. They're great as enemies-to-friends, but I think both of them would fit better with Jeri romantically. 3. Yes. Someone who actually thought Tri was good! 4. No strict NOTPs, though the ships on 1 really do push it. 5. Fandom managed to ruin TK/Kari well before Tri did. 7. The original 8 DigiDestined and Omnimon. To be clear, I still love them in the original Adventure, and they're alright in the reboot if I take it in a vacuum, but if I have to see them in the franchise again any time soon I'm gonna scream! 9. The ones I straight up loathe would be Yggdrasil, Meiko Mochizuki and Meicoomon, and especially Tagiru Akashi. 10. The Royal Knights arc in Frontier, the Yggdrasil arc in Savers, the entirety of Young Hunters, and the entirety of Tri + that movie. 11. Davis Motomiya. As in the English dub recharacterization of Daisuke Motomiya. Yes, I prefer him to Daisuke, come at me. 12. Yeah, the Server arc was the weakest overall in Adventure, but I still enjoy it immensely and remember it fondly, especially its latter section, which is when the series really made the transition from just good to great. 13. I prefer Kari in 02 to Kari in Adventure, and even then Yolei has her beat as Best Girl of 02. 14. It NEEDS to pay the non-Adventure series' more attention and give them more love, dammit! 15. Digimon Adventure 02, hot mess that it was, is still of higher quality and entertainment value than a lot of the later series. 16. I did whole Fixer Upper posts for Adventure 02, Savers, and Young Hunters already! 17. Instead of the Royal Knights arc, what if Cherubimon's defeat just...kind of instantly got Lucemon's seal broken and he could lead the gradual decimation of the Digital World himself? 19. THE SHIPPERS 22. Am I the only one who thinks Masaru Daimon is a complete ass who could've been way better developed beyond his fist punching, anti-intellectual toxic masculinity than he was? (Though this applies less to Marcus Damon, similar to my feelings on Daisuke VS Davis). 23. Yolei Inoue, Jeri Katou, and Angie Hinamoto are all underrated and deserve more appreciation. 25. See 16. 26 and 27. Don't know and don't care.

Im in the process of making an OC for Digimon Tri because I loathe Meiko who essentially deconstructs the idea of the "bad victim/good victim" narrative. In that she was a victim of abuse and lashes out a lot, but that doesn't nor shouldn't take away her humanity and positive qualities. This makes her a foil for pretty much for the canon cast (even Ken). She has the Crest of Change (a black crescent moon) and her Mon is likely to be an underused digimonster, or a digifake based on the story of Cinderella. The crest of change embodies traits of all the other crests since its the canon characters that plants the seeds in her choosing to become a better person.

Something that gives the 02 kids a lot of making up for lost time, keeps Meiko away from the Chosen Children except for communicating with them long distance, and finally gives Dark Gennai the comeuppance he deserves (and reveals the inevitable Piedmon connection.)

Dear Antis
I get that you don’t like Meiko and/ or Meichi and that is fine (I personally am hardcore Anti-Meichi), but please tag your stuff properly. By that I mean please use the Anti-Tag concept. This allows the Pro and Anti people to exist separately.
Follow up/ Edit:
In addition, if you do choose to create anti Meiko or Meichi content (which I’m not against because I personally like to create posts that offer respectful criticism of characters, plot points and ships), then a warning at the top that it is an Anti-post with further criticism below the cut I think is also acceptable.
I’ve created Anti-Sorato, Anti-Taiora, Anti-Sora, and Anti-Takeru posts before and used this method. I’ve yet to receive complaints from any of those fandoms and I think part of the reason is because I gave them the option to read it or simply scroll past.
This also allows for Pro’s and Anti’s to choose whether they want to interact with one another.
If a Pro Shipper chooses to enter the Anti-Meichi tag then that is fine but they should not be subjected to Anti-Meichi’s opinions if they do not choose to be.
Vice versa I have zero interest in being subjected to Meichi content and so I choose to avoid it and wouldn’t mind an Anti-Tag to hang out in if I choose.
Is that so much to ask?
Please reconsider your current way of going about this because it’s not healthy for either side.
#meiko mochizuki#meichi#anti-meiko#anti-meichi#digimon adventure tri#i will be doing an anti meichi post in the next few weeks and i promise it will be properly tagged#i can't believe we are dealing with this again after the war that was sorato vs taiora

Some new AU setting stuff. Yeah. Another.
This is an AU setting for ▽, which is actually based on old speculation i had back in 2016 for part 3. This is NOT supposed to be a fix-it.
Anyway, the idea is a bit “cliche” now that we have Menoa, and it has been ages since i watched DtM to remember this dub plot point with Willis.
What idea? The idea of Meicoomon being an artificial digimon made by scientists under the government program to fabricate digivices and then make their own Chosen Children.
This is still in-progress, so... Here's the first 5 pages:
The Setting
Said plot is like, Meicoomon is not a normal digimon at all, she cannot evolve like one BUT she has mutations (Meicrack & Raguel) and she’s partnered with Mochizuki Meiko as some guinea pig for the project. Meicoomon’s name is also a portmanteau of Meiko + Maine Coon, since Meiko liked felines and was always fascinated by Maine Coons.
So Meicoomon was born, and the project also made an artificial digivice for their human partner subject. This is why Meiko’s digivice has a DNA pattern instead of a crest. It appears only when Meicoomon suffers a mutation.
The subjects Meicoomon and Meiko formed a bond pretty quickly, but Meicoomon was a prototype, which means she wasn’t stable enough and could go on vicious rampages if not tamed. Without Meiko, Meicoomon would become hostile and dangerous.
It’s not like Meicoomon couldn’t stay away from Meiko, but it was like… She couldn’t stand being all alone for a longer time. Or surrounded by crowds. She didn’t know what she was anyway, and they called her a digimon… Well, maybe she is a digimon, right?
The day Meiko had to go to another town in order to visit a sick relative and they had to keep Meicoomon inside the lab… It was the first time Meicoomon caused an incident with the program lead team. She snapped, escaped from the cages and almost destroyed the facility. And she only stopped when they put her to sleep by the animal control. Luckily no one died and they were only injured, but not at life’s risk at least. However, when Meiko returned home, she learned all of those and started to never leave Meicoomon alone at all. It was when they started asking the entire town to allow Meiko to bring Meicoomon with her, and to never get the cat crowded by unknown people. Things seemed to work, they avoided any casualties. It felt like a good ending!
Except it wasn’t.
Meicoomon’s special powers were designed to control digimon, which means she carried a strong virus program in her body. Though, she was the antivirus solution as well. She was plotted as some war machine used to stop rampaging digimon, taking control of them or destroying their cores. This was a potential and lethal weapon the government was developing based on the researches of digimon published by an American researcher, Menoa Bellucci. However, this project was a secret, so not even the owner of the research was aware of it. Or the Chosen Children. Sadly, Gennai and the Digital Agents came late to put a stop on the project, and then they tried to contact the government.
One of the agents in this new special government department was a previous Chosen Child, Nishijima Daigo, who was representing the Digital Agents from Homeostasis and Holy Beasts. On the side of the government project was another Chosen Child, Himekawa Maki. After hours of discussion, the government decided it was better to cancel the project and cease any experiment on it. Gennai, Homeostasis and the Digital World’s deities (the Holy Beasts, at least) didn’t want them to take Meicoomon life away, so they planned to keep her under watch. The only person frustrated with that news was… Himekawa.
Himekawa’s backstory
Himekawa Maki (11yo), Nishijima Daigo (11yo) and other three kids – Minamino Genki (13yo), Kitabayashi Hitomi (12yo) and Higashikata Kazuya (12yo) – were Chosen Children from a past Adventure, one which predated Taichi’s group. They were kids from an Adventure in 98, in which they were the first kids to go to the Digital World. All of the previous generations, including its primordial Chosen – Oowada Rui – hadn’t been in the Digital World when they met their partners. And for the reason of the Digital World needing so hard saviors to help them beat a new menace, a digimon trying to cease the power of evolution… They yanked those five kids and threw them into their world.
Maki, or Hime-chan as the others referred to her as, was partnered with a sweet and loyal Bakumon. Said Bakumon was so much important for Maki, to the point she hated to let them get hurt for her. Daigo was partnered with a serious yet sociable Bearmon, but said Bearmon also ended up being laid-back later, as if he were absorbing Daigo’s personality. Genki, a boy, was partnered with a chatty and enthusiastic Muchomon. Hitomi, a girl, was partnered with a shy and responsible Kamemon. Kazuya, the other boy, was partnered with a calm and wise Elecmon (Violet).
The group had formed bonds with everyone they helped out and with each other, being a perfect dream team to save their world. But…
Once, in a very horrible fight against the Three Dark Masters – Piemon, Pinocchimon and MetalSeadramon – the group was severely injured. Maki’s tears of rage for seeing Megadramon getting hurt for her gave birth to a new Dark Master: Mugendramon. Mugendramon destroyed Piemon, Pinocchimon and MetalSeadramon, but ended up going on a rampage. The remaining four companions in the group had to evolve into the four Holy Beasts and beat them. They ended up destroying Bakumon and reverting them into a DigiEgg.
Maki had the egg in hands, but a strange glitch was appearing on its surface. The other kids asked Jijimon, the ancient, and he wasn’t sure what to reply to the kids. Maybe about the fact that Bakumon would never hatch? But Maki refused that fate. She refused to give up.
She became a little obsessed with the idea of reprogramming the digimon in order to bring Bakumon back. It was when Homeostasis decided to keep the egg sealed, acting as their function as the security entity of the Digital World.
The 02 group investigates Himekawa
Meicoomon was planned in 2003, when Menoa Bellucci published her first couple of thesis about the digimon to the world. Which led the project to start its development through a year, and only in 2005-to-2006 to get canceled. Meicoomon was unstable, but having Meiko around helped to prevent casualties. And since the project was stopped, Maki couldn’t keep developing her own personal project.
Except she had a good amount of data for her next move.
Daisuke, Hikari and Takeru were in their last year of Middle School, and were always placed in the same class since their 5th grade from Elementary School. While Daisuke’s crush on Hikari was still there and a thing, his relationship with her and Takeru had improved since their showdown with Vamdemon back in 2002.
Daisuke had became a regular player in the soccer team, Takeru started writing a little more drafts of his and the group’s adventures with the digimon and keeping in touch with the worldwide Chosen via his new blog, and Hikari was still enjoying her photography hobby, yet getting addicted to a brand new thing: the new i-Mart’s conbini ice, definitely promoted by Miyako to her friends.
Miyako was in her first grade of High School, the same as most of the 02 group’s seniors were suspiciously attending all together. She was also helping Koushiro with the Chosen Children Network, as one of its moderators.
Iori was starting his Middle School phase, but still being stoic and polite. He was still taking kendo classes with his grandpa, who was still strong and wise.
Meanwhile Ken was at his last grade of another Middle School in his area, yet developing some sleuthing skills while helping the digimon and local Chosen with their own cases.
Everything seemed nice, until the mysterious request from a supposed “former” Chosen Child. The kids were a little wary, since they never heard of the possibility of “graduating” from a digimon partnership. This piqued Iori’s curiosity and made him ask Koushiro about it. Meanwhile the rest of the group started discussing said request.
In Daisuke’s opinion, “this is fishy and I dunno why, but it’s fishy” as he put it. Miyako’s opinion was that they should ask the Network for more details. Takeru agreed with both of them, and Hikari showed concern. Ken was the one to point out why it is fishy: The part of saying to be a “former Chosen Child”. The same reason Iori wasn’t with them at the moment – to check this peculiar detail.
But then Ken mused about this could mean this person, Himekawa, had lost their digimon. Like what happened to Takeru and him. Which made Daisuke keep claiming this is “fishy” because he never heard of a digimon dying and not coming back before. There was so much stuff that those children didn’t understand, things experienced by older Chosen in the world… Except they never had any contact with those people before. So why would one of them seek their help right now?
“That’s fishy” Daisuke kept being skeptical. But he and the others had some curiosity in this person… It wouldn’t hurt if they tried to at least investigate this Himekawa person’s background, right?
Iori and Koushiro were up to that, and Koushiro also didn’t hear of a “former” Chosen Child either. And this made him afraid of what that could mean. Iori wondered if the Digital World can graduate Chosen Children in some way, but they never heard of any case of that before.
The kids asked local Chosen Children, on the Network, to the digimon in the Digital World, meanwhile Miyako did the heaviest part – hacking stuff. It was for a good reason, and she definitely was sure hacking the government website was too, too dangerous but hey! She got Koushiro and his online friends’ assistance in this task.
What did all of them discover?
Ambush
Taichi, Yamato, Sora, Koushiro and even Mimi, who mysteriously moved back to Japan in her second year, were attending the same high school. The only person to not be in this same school was Jou, who was currently attending a prep school. They never knew why, but they had this little impression something odd was happening.
But one of the assistant teachers was Nishijima. Now the kids barely knew the other job of this calligraphy teacher was actually at a special department specialized in Digimon incidents – The Data Bureau. Daigo’s mission as the agent was keeping an eye on them, and the reason most of them were attending the same HS was definitely because of that surveillance. Miyako was also studying in this same HS, but another agent was infiltrated in the Odaiba Middle to keep an eye on the rest of the kids, and another in Ken’s Middle School.
But, most importantly was… Meiko started to attend said school as well that year.
Oddly, Meicoomon’s effects on her programming were less offensive so she managed to stay at home for a few long periods, like school time. Meiko’s father believed it was thanks to Meiko’s bonds with her, but he couldn’t do anything anymore since the project was canceled.
Except Meicoomon… Had become a target. By who?
While the 02 group was still debating what to do with Himekawa’s request, they just learned her name, her job and other stuff. She was indeed fishy. Very fishy. By votation they decided to at least hear what she wanted to say, but being cautious of any possibility of this turning out to be a trap. They heard her request was about… Collecting data for something?
What data? Why them? This keeps getting fishy – As Daisuke put it. Miyako was sure this was about a canceled top secret project she saw in her cyber sleuthing session. But they aren’t mercenaries looking for a dubious job, they’re children helping in digimon cases. They were totally against the idea of them invading some place to steal data.
They were almost done when they got a message from an anonymous source about a mysterious partnered digimon around Tokyo. That they couldn’t refuse – it’s their business to help any lost digimon return to their partner. But little did they know that the mysterious digimon was Meicoomon, and she was running away from a digimon.
Said digimon was a shadowy creature which had tons of red eyes in it. Said digimon was controlling another one, MetallifeKuwagamon. Meicoomon didn’t want to cause problems to Meiko and her family, so she was on the run. Knowing her intriguing ability to control other digimon, she tried to use it on the enemy, but had no effect.
She had been running the whole day, when the 02 group came in. Witnessing the scene, Daisuke and the others took into action to save Meicoomon. The 02 group fought MetallifeKuwagamon (they didn’t know was also a victim… of another inside its body), and they end up taking this battle to the Digital World (at least, to make the least damage possible in the real world) – The gate opens, all six hop into it with their jogress digimon. With Meicoomon alone, someone tries to catch her, but she manages to jump into the gate.
The battle wouldn’t last long, but things were getting bad. Too bad. MetallifeKuwagamon managed to evolve into TyrantKabuterimon, having the 02 group bring Imperialdramon into the battlefield. They see Meicoomon coming into their direction and Hikari gently catches her. Since there was a warm aura coming for those humans, Meicoomon felt she could trust them, at least to beat her stalker and return to Meiko’s home.
During the battle, something strange like black ink starts leaking into Imperialdramon. Realizing this could mean no good, Daisuke immediately tells Hikari and the others to retreat and let him deal with it. Ken refuses to leave him behind, same to the other four. He argues they have no time to discuss a better plan. He opens the gate and insists they should just go back without him. Then, Shakkoumon and Silphymon grab the group – Daisuke included, against his own wishes, and they dive into the portal. Imperialdramon tries to break the jogress, but couldn’t for unknown reasons, and then this unknown shadowy digimon consumes him. Imperialdramon then destroys TyrantKabuterimon, but loses his senses… He’s just a vessel now.
In the human world, Daisuke snaps and says they should’ve just left him there! He was sure he could’ve figured some way out to save Imperialdramon, but Ken glares at him seriously – “Something was wrong with Imperialdramon, he could’ve killed you!” – they were about to fight (something that rarely happened) and had Takeru to interrupt them. The other three look at Meicoomon in Hikari’s arms, and they ask a few questions… But Meicoomon was still in shock to talk. Then they decide to take her to Koushiro, in order to find her partner.
Daisuke is still broken, he didn’t want to leave Imperialdramon suffering with whatever was that thing. Somehow Ken had a tougher skin than him, and now with a group down to only four digimon, he and Daisuke were… useless.
Hawkmon mentions that Imperialdramon ordered them to take the rest and leave quickly, because he didn’t want to hurt anyone. Armadimon also says Imperialdramon apologized to them, which made things even worse for Daisuke after all.

Digimon Adventures / Tri ~ VARIOUS P R I D E Icons for character Meiko Mochizuki {Tri} + flag icon bases by @izzyizumi !
BONUS:
OP’s commentary: I don’t know which Adventures fans need to hear this (I DO) but a) Meiko Mochizuki Can Be ANY Of These Headcanons b) This fandom made me Appreciate Meiko c) Regarding the Taichi x Meiko (Meichi) pairing specifically:
from THIS interview: Digimon Adventure tri. Memorial Book — Lead writer Yuuko Kakihara interview translated by DigiLab (italics/bolding mine for emphasis)
–Taichi and Meiko also seemed to have formed a certain bond between them. Toei / Tri staffs’ Answer: To be honest, the relationship between those two was not something we particularly had in mind.
But since we had certain expectations of how the fans would react to a new character barging in, and since we were also thinking about what we know about Taichi and his friends in the future, we ended up putting Meiko in a position where she comes and leaves.
^ Literally, Toei / Tri writers are TELLING YOU THIS
d) Meichi as a ship is still fine. You can STILL ship it. It is very much valid - also as Toei seems to have blatantly implied “it’s fine to see it that way” - ALSO as it is a ship involving two P.O.C (Japanese), who DO NOT have the same rep in fandom as White characters’ ships e) You also don’t have to ship Meichi AND can have alternative headcanons - for both Taichi and Meiko
f) Q u e e r headcanons involving dishonesty (such as using these as means of pushing away a character for so-called “getting in the way of your ship”, OR invalidating other headcanons) are BAD. Please DON’T use them for this reason.
{DO NOT REPOST} {DO NOT REMOVE CAPTION} {IF YOU DO THIS, I WILL KNOW} {DO NOT TAG AS “Q SLUR”, “Q WORD” OR ANY SIMILAR VARIANT} {PLEASE TAG ONLY AS “ QUEER ” OR L.G.B.T.Q.I.A.(P.N)+} {DO NOT DISCOURSE ON MY POSTS OR DERAIL THEM } {MY POSITIVITY POSTS ARE NOT FOR YOUR DISCOURSE }
