The thing that made me fall in love with Tony Stark as a characther was never the comics. And it was certainly not the MCU Elon Musk look alike but with actual scientific knowledge for once.
Stark became a characther I liked because of Earth Mightiest Heros. More specifically the Emperor Stark episode. It starts as a classic mind control episode. Ultron wakes up in a weird world where Tony is a dictator and the Avengers work for him and slowly unconvers the truth about Purple Man mind controlling the team and that he was sleeping for way longer than he thought. He then proceeds to break Purple Man's control and everything ends up fine.
Except by the end of the episode we discover that Purple Man's control only brought to life Tony's darkest desires/feelings and that sometimes Tony's paranoia and egocentrism makes him think that the only way to save and protect people is to assume control of everything but we also learn that while Tony has this thoughs, they are not something he wants, instead they are something that terrifies him. He knows it's wrong and he doesn't really want to do it but he is afraid he could one day. And at that moment he needs Steve to reassure him, to both tell him he won't ever do that and that he will be there if it happens and stop him. And Steve is his close friend and a good leader in EMH so he does that.
This episode for me was what consolidated my image of Tony. The version of Tony we sometimes have in comics and never had in the MCU (I actually hate MCU Tony for soo many reasons). For me Tony Stark is a man with low empathy, someone whose anxiety and paranoia and the god complex that appears sometimes (in contrast with his usual self loathing) are all a reciepe for disaster, he is someone that by all means should be a villain except he WANTS to do good. He wants to help people even if he doesn't always get it. He likes to see people happy and well and wants to make a better world. The Tony Stark I love is a man that is always fighting against himself, forcing himself to give a shit. Because he loves the world, he just doesn't always feels how to express this love. And as someone who sometimes struggles with bolts of lower empathy because the autism (though never even close to Tony's level) this is quite inspiring. He isn't a self made hero because he built the armor in a cave with trash but because he is always trying to be a hero no matter what his paranoid brain tells him.
That's why I see this Tony. EMH Tony and my interpretation of comic Tony not realizing his weapons were used to cause mass destruction more favoraubly than MCU Tony. Both because age issues kindda made him younger but mostly because there's this underlying notion that he didn't noticed it before because he just didn't care enought to notice and that the realization he had was not just "seeling weapons is wrong" but that he needed to care more. That he couldn't just keep ignoring reality just because it wasn't almost killing him.

Can we talk about how cute it is that Peter thought Tony was that tall for the bunny ears?
And also... does that mean they didn't plan at all to do bunny ears to each other? I mean, if they had planned it, Peter would have checked to see if he was doing them right.
So that means that originally the photo was going to be with Tony's arm around Peter's back, and Peter's arm around Tony's shoulders.
These two will never stop making me cry.

to celebrate 8 years since civil war release, let’s review all the ways tony stark was an absolute loser and actually the reason thanos won in infinity war:
created an omnicidal A.I. that the rest of the team warned him against creating
decided that the entire team needed to become government puppets because he felt guilty for creating said A.I. that, once again, NO ONE SUPPORTED HIM IN MAKING
(also the reason bucky was forced back into the fight bc tony caused sokovia and thus caused zemo’s need for revenge but i digress on that pt)
when members of the team who can’t disconnect from their abilities raised concerns about how the accords dehumanized them, he had them arrested or locked them in his tower
bribed (yes, bribed) a child into fighting on his side because he knew he was outmatched
instructed vision to shoot sam out of the sky and then shot sam point-blank when he avoided the blast that would’ve left him severely injured AND LANDED TO HELP THE PERSON IT HIT
wanda on the raft. this is its own point. he let her be restrained and collared like a fucking DOG as if he hadn’t already done enough damage in her life (killing her parents & brother)
Tumblr media
proceeded to break the accords THAT HE HELPED WRITE to chase cap across the globe because he felt left out of the action
blamed a brainwashed pow for BEING FORCED to kill the starks AGAINST HIS WILL and proceeded to BLOW HIS ARM OFF and ATTEMPT TO KILL HIM DESPITE KNOWING THAT NONE OF IT WAS HIS CHOICE
mocked natasha’s trauma because she dared to disagree with his methods (he is, in fact, incapable of letting go of his ego for one goddamn second)
even after receiving an apology, refused to contact cap for three years despite KNOWING about the threat of thanos
in conclusion,

I'm just gonna say it. I hate Irondad so much. The fact that the mcu erased Peter's true hero and father figure, UNCLE BEN from the movies will always piss me off thr highest levels of pisstivity!!
There's so many people Peter has hero worship for before Tonky Stank. Cap, Daredevil, Johnny Storm, Bruce Banner and Reed Richards!!
Not making Steve or Bruce his father/mentor figure was so dumb. Steve and Peter have similar backstory and the most in common when it comes to being a hero and morals. Especially mcu Peter and Steve
I'm sorry but I'll never love the irondad/ ironboy Jr dynamic and I'm glad Tony is dead and Peter can finally be Peter Parker/Spiderman and not be tied to Tony all the time

Saw Deadpool and Wolverine and rolled my eyes as the camera focused on the Iron Man helmet and the ark reactor for a good minute. There's no respite from this man! He's just going to haunt every Marvel movie even when the characters have nothing to do with him.

Y’know the truth is I don’t think Tony Stark would bother me nearly as much if his fans were just even slightly normal about him. Like antis get this reputation for being crazy obsessive hateful people, but in my experience they’re just frustrated fans that want a place to vent about an otherwise very popular character. It’s the stans who will cross tag and send death threats to blogs that dare disparage their precious baby. It’s the stans that clamor for unfair amounts of screen time and encourage the co-opting of other characters to surround Tony Stark. I don’t see antis writing a thousand 10k fanfics about Team Iron Man getting tortured and groveling to Steve. Idk maybe this is an unfortunately common fandom behavior?? It just seems so unnecessary to me

CACW is so interesting to me, especially in regards to how Tony Stark treated Bucky. For all his talk about following rules and regulation, the minute it comes to Barnes it’s all thrown out the window. And part of it is explainable, obviously, because Bucky killed his parents. But both logically and legally, there is a good chance that he wouldn’t have faced punishment via the government — he most likely would have had a military trial, since he was (technically) in the Army (even after being brainwashed) as a Prisoner of War. Any therapist worth their salt would have immediately found him clinically insane/unfit for trial, meaning that consequences would have been delayed for months, if not years, until he was sane enough to be able to get tried in court. With that being said, he most likely would have never been charged since everything Hydra did violated the Geneva Convention. Tony Stark knew all of this information. He knew that he had been brainwashed, he knew that he had been tortured. He knew that Bucky was Steve’s best friend and that Hydra does unspeakable things to those they deem prisoners. Hell, he could even talk to his fellow teammates and get their opinions on Bucky. But instead, Stark chose to ignore all of this information and try to punish Bucky Barnes for something he didn’t willingly do. He wanted to ignore the rules that were in place, the rules he spent the entire damn movie staunchly defending, and do what he wanted to do, damn the consequences .
What a hypocrite

it is my biggest complaint that the mcu didn't just get Cap to call Magneto during the events of Civil War because Wanda is literally his daughter and Magneto vs Iron Man is a fight I personally deserved to witness

Nothing MCU Tony Stark ever does or say will ever be funnier than early comics Tony going "in fact why don't we disband while we have the chance" to the Avengers the moment the team has the smallest scheadule incovenience (honestly every single one of Tony decisions on that book were funny and result of a complete lack of impulse control).

I just want a scenario where, It's after civil war, Steve and the rogues are settled into the place where they argue about the accords and Tonys 15 minutes late, but since he's like the lead for the accords they all have to begrudgingly wait.
Then Tony walks in lipstick smudged, mascara on, in a black silk dress, throwing off stilletos and a curly black wig
"sorry, I was on an undercover mission" Tony says, dress still on as he takes his seat, and Steve Rogers literally gripping onto the table he was sat Infront with the others, distractedly glancing at tony, his legs in the dress, his hips, those curves.
The rogues having to repeatedly snap him out of the daze not so subtly, while the press has already written out the headline.
"hard mission or hard ex-captain? Tony stark walks in with a black silk dress on and Steve Rogers has reportedly lost his ability to speak but instead drool."
Steve wanted to crawl up and die at that moment.
And subtly, in the back hiding behind Sam is a half confused half bi crisis Bucky staring at the genius like a literal creep cause the man can see the slit of skin exposing his thigh that Bucky wanted to desperately claw at the air for.
Jesus supersoldiers and their creepy need for the man they both were down bad for.
Oh and Bucky totally got a headline of his own.
"the winter assassin. Killing for a piece of stark? The man was reported, next to his other drooling best friend, trying to revert his gaze from the delectable genius. The playboy really isn't silent."
And Tony? Well Tony knew they were staring.
And if stark came back the next meeting with his tightest fitting suit on, black and red with his hair out, curling. His lips shining with a subtle pink tinted lipgloss and his tie slightly undone, aswell as the first button..
Well. That was his deal.
Clint in the second meeting: STOP DROOLING OVER THE MAN, WE ARE TRYING TO WIN.
Steve and bucky: oh we're winning, clint, we're winning.
They were infact just referring to staring at Starks ass and not their case that they were war criminals.

I say this as someone who has no love for mcu tony but endgame was so anti found family that they had tony talk to his emotionally distant absent sperm donor instead of the man (jarvis) that raised him, and who tony missed SO much when he died that he created an entire artificial intelligence based on him so that he could talk to him again

So basically, here's why Miles and Peter B worked and Spiderson and Irondad and all those 'Batman adopts [crossover kid]' stories don't:
Peter B didn't overshadow Miles-Yes,he's a vital part of his character and had a lot of screentime too but Spiderverse is always MILES' MOVIES.Peter B was not his co-star but his mentor so they didn't share the spotlight and this was a wise choice on the writers part because it would be very unfair on black superhero fans to claim it as Miles' debut only for it to be another Peter Parker movie(Wayne Family Adventures:Take notes)
While yes,Peter B was lowkey an asshole in the beginning,he was never outright cruel. He was literally just snarky and bitter and Miles snarked back at him so they were equals instead of a grown ass man picking on a lil boy and being rewarded for it
Jefferson and Rio weren't demonized or downplayed to prop Peter B up-They got plenty of time with Miles too and it's very clear that while Peter B acts like a parental figure to Miles,Miles views Jeffrio as his only parents while Peter B is more like his way older brother that defaults to acting like a dad due to their age difference(Speaking from the experience of an adult with only kid siblings and a good amount of teen friends that i've gotten close enough to consider we consider eachother siblings too, this is 100000% accurate to how it works)
Peter B dosen't baby Miles-He just teaches him the best he can but believes in him enough to try things out for himself and do his own thing so he's a genuinely good teacher for him in addition to a positive adult figure like his parents and Uncle Aaron but again, they're not blood related and they both act that way and that is appropriate due to the differences in their heritage(Peter B a white jewish person/Miles an afrolatino person.Again, realistic rep and i'm Miles this time)
Peter B also genuinely cares about Miles feelings and thinks extremely positively of him as a person instead of just another crime fighter and provides him comfort and safety instead of traumadumping all over to him and placing the responsibility of caretaker on him like a discord mod LMFAO
