I wrote in the same damn post that just like izuku kirishima deserves someone better then bakugou, so what makes you think I LOVE kiribaku??? I despise ANY ship with bakugou because EVERYONE deserves better then him! For all you Kiribaku/Tododeku/Izuocha's who are Bakudeku-anti's, let me ask you all a question: when's the last time your ship interacted with each other in the manga?

Because Bakudeku are very relevant in the current manga, while yours are hardly ever acknowledged by Horikoshi and even if they are, it is only small moments that are brief, while Bakudeku's are always during very important scenes.

I hate to be that person, but somebody's gotta tell it to you straight: Bakudeku has way more of a chance of becoming canon than your ship, and if you haven't already accepted that, you should start to, so your heart doesn't get broken when yours doesn't. Speaking as a former sns, so I know what I'm talking about when I say that. It is OK if you like those ships, but stop bashing on Bakudeku. It just makes you look illiterate and jealous if you don't understand/accept it by now. You might as well stop watching/reading the series if you hate it, because Horikoshi has made it clear it's not going anywhere.

literally VOMITS oh my god i hate bakudeku. bakugo is horribly written and the ship itself is so unrealistic. bakugo bullied and abused izuku for 10 YEARS STRAIGHT. TEN YEARS. even with bakugo's "character development" its still really bad. the closest i can see them being is pals.

I can't believe i even have to mention this one but i had a very interesting situation back when i was active on twitter where ALL of my mutuals thought that this shit was morally okay and i had to block all of them. thats a minor x an adult. i thought we established that freshman x seniors is fucking gross what is WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE. "oh but its only a two year age gap-" WRONG!!! its a 2 and a half year age gap. people seem to forget that teenage brains develop really fucking fast that even though the age gap is only 2 and a half years the MATURITY GAP IS HUGE. also, normal fucking 18+ yr olds DO NOT like dating people under 17 (some of them ive talked to, like my brother, said that even 17 is iffy and heavily depends on how mature they are). also, if we completely ignore the age + maturity gap, their personalities clash. tamaki would probably be fucking bat shit terrified of monoma due to how eccentric he is. also they havn't interacted in canon ONCE. this one is also basically a proship.

I honestly really don’t know why I dislike kiribaku. I don’t tend to have reasons for my ship likes or dislikes, I just like or dislike them and then think of reasons after. I really don’t have anything against kiribaku in particular, in other words. I think it was just a very mild not-caring-for-it at first too, but then the ship became very popular. When a ship I don’t care for becomes super popular, it can be extra hard to see it around. (Although I do find that there’s been less kiribaku around recently, probably because they’ve had less interactions recently.)

Sometimes these kisses lead to more, but more often one or both of them fall asleep kissing- waking up with each other's morning breath. (I think I did well finding a gif that looks exactly like them) These two are very touch starved- so when they kiss they both put their all into it. Shouto especially. Doesn't matter if they're at home or in public- he is going to make sure Izuku feels everything he feels whenever they touch. Izuku just wishes they didn't have so many headlines with photos of them practically undressing on battlegrounds

Like TodoDeku- both Katsuki and Izuku are prone to heavy and heat filled kisses. And with these two's history? Who could blame them? Katsuki likes showing off that he had Izuku- that Izuku belongs by his side- neck and neck with him- and Izuku would be lying if he said he didn't adore it. So much missed time between them also fuels this passion- both so desperate to have as much of each other as they can because they both know their jobs are dangerous. They don't want to regret not having enough

ShinDeku

Sort of like EraserMic- these two are very low energy when it comes to kisses. That's not to say they aren't passionate- but with Hitoshi's low energy levels from insomnia and Izuku's caring nature- they both have found ways to show affection without causing the other to fret over nonexistent relationship problems. During the day it's no uncommon to see Izuku plant kisses on Hitoshi's cheeks- or for Hitoshi to stop him and kiss the closest piece of skin he can (the most common is Izuku's knuckles or his shoulders). But when they're alone its usually slow and sensual kisses.

KiriMina

These two are the Paparazzi's favorite pairing- It's not rare to find photoshoots of these two being affectionate- whether they're in a relationship or not. Before they ever got together they were touchy- Eijirou always holding onto Ashido, touching her leg, her hands, once they had a photo go around of him holding one of her horns as she was interviewed for her latest takedown. Kisses were not uncommon either. Cheek kisses, kisses on the lips, foreheads, hands, the leg if it's close- these two were so confused when people assumed they were dating despite how affectionate they were in school. However when they began dating it only got worse. Now if Eijirou or Ashido even think there's a camera they'll be making out.

KiriBaku

What do you get when you mix and unstoppable force with an immovable wall? You get some of the meanest kissers you've ever witnessed. These two are not afraid to get concerningly into their kisses- I'm talking teeth, blood, spit and sweat. Katsuki isn't afraid to cut his lips on Eijirou's still unbreakable lips and Eijirou isn't afraid to taste blood. They get called the Hannigram couple because of how often they accidentally lick each other's blood and they only greet it with laughter.

TogaChako

Did you know there are two arteries that run across your forehead? Himiko does- and so does Uraraka now as they start dating. I know we all adore the vampire symbolism that comes with neck kisses- and trust me, they do too, but necks aren't the greatest spots for blood flow- foreheads however- foreheads are great spots to feel for arteries and veins. Himiko loves kisses over the Supraorbital Artery since it falls right by the eyebrow- a romantic spot already to kiss- but because of her blood based quirk, she can actually feel the pulse of her heart easily from the artery. She will kiss there whenever she is anxious- or two remind herself that Uraraka is alive and healthy. She also likes feeling her pulse quicken whenever Uraraka gets embarrassed.

DabiHawks

These two are used to quick and short flings with one another- its apart of their jobs. They both know if either side found out about them that it'd be taken from them- either by a decaying hand or by corporate measures. They know their relationship is dangerous- not only for the other but themselves too, so they keep their kisses to the confinement of their midnight meetings. Always in hidden shadows- alleyways and trees that Hawks flies them to. They kiss with everything- often with Hawks knocking his teeth on one of Dabi's staples or his piercings if the kisses travel. Dabi is often the reason why Hawks carries Chapstick- because when you're kissing for hours at a time, it gets dry fast.

TodoShinDeku

These three are kiss fanatics. Mixing Shouto's need for affection, Izuku's tendency to care for everybody at once, and Hitoshi's love for witnessing his partners- you'll often find them tucked away like these. Shouto and Izuku usually lock lips, while Hitoshi is usually late to join, but just as happy to kiss at the skin available to him. That isn't to say he never gets to steal lips for himself- but he's often just happy to watch the two of them, touching their hands and shoulders to show his appreciation for the view. That often earns him a hand in his hair, or fingers on his biceps as the two open their eyes to watch him in return. They make it a show- just for him and they all adore it

Kiribaku headcanons, because I shit on Bakudeku so much I can sometimes forget how much I actually really like Kiribaku.

- Bakugou likes that Kirishima isn't a pushover. He doesn't treat Bakugou like a god or like a delinquent; he views Bakugou as a person first, and Bakugou likes that Kirishima isn't intimidated by him, nor does he fall over himself to impress Bakugou.

- Kirishima admires Bakugou for his confidence and self-assuredness, but he also likes that Bakugou makes an effort to push himself and test his boundaries

- As much as he pretends to be annoyed by it, I think Bakugou appreciates just how genuinely friendly and outgoing Kirishima is. I think that in general, Bakugou likes how... Solid Kirishima is (no pun intended). He isn't awkward, he doesn't fumble in conversation, he knows exactly what he wants, and when he does want something, he just fucking goes for it. Kirishima has issues with his self-esteem, but he rarely lets it affect how he carries himself with such surety.

- On the physical side of it, I think Bakugou likes Kirishima's shark teeth. And his muscles.

- Kirishima also thinks that Bakugou looks unfairly attractive in a tank top, cuz it shows off his arms and shoulders.

- I like the idea that Kirishima calls Bakugou "Kats"

Even if that chapter 404 scene was a bkdk moment, which it isn't, it's just somebody in the world praying. If it was, it was only to give Bakugo more momentum for a few seconds to rescue All Might.

Tenya canonically held Izuku's hand for much longer, for several minutes and for many more pages when 1-A had to rescue him form himself. Do Tenya/Izuku instead. What about the scene where Kirishima held Bakugo hand when they were rescuing him? Do KiriBaku instead.

TLDR: If hand-holding determines pairings, then it would be Tenya/Izuku and Kirishima/Bakugo by their logic

As s super lover of Kirishima and Krbk I got to agree sigh. I greatly admire Kirishima's dedication and embrace of manly heroism and doing his own thing and such I can get why he's attracted to Bakugo, even if he's the worst toxic aspects of it. He's just blind to all the red flags and red is his favorite color. But in terms of their personal relationship Bakugo is actually putting up with Kirishima and likes him more than anyone else and while I would not enjoy a relationship of being constantly mocked for my hair or called stupid, in comparison to how Bakugo says stuff like that to other people it is a lot less...vehement and more fond. He actually does like Kirishima. And probably the only person he does like, even his supposed admiration of Allmight is completely not understanding Allmight at all and just that he's cool, super strong amd never loses. The person he does not care about and constantly disrespects to his face. So yeah I'm always in a weird I like Kiribaku as they genuinely do like each other, mysteriously, especially from Bakugo's side but its actually real unlike how he treats others, but I loathe Bakugo the individual as he is. I wish Bakugo was as awesome as the Bakugo vision glasses Kirishima and fans wear (and it hurts my favorite that he's also the biggest Bakugostan) but his feelings are love so I accept it and they do look visually amazing and love each other. Though if it ever happened that he had a sudden realization Bakugo is not amazing? I'd be all over that too. Bakugo is lucky because the only thing interesting about him is Kirishima being so dedicated and his friendly awesomeness masking how much Bakugo is disliked as no one would have ever wanted anything to do with him otherwise.

Okay, something I realized a while ago is how the fandom doesn't give Kiribaku enough shit like it does with the bkdk or other ships, like an anti bkdk myself that prefer Izuku ten meters away from bk, same thing that many krdk shippers want too. However, many of them likes the cliche of  “bad boy with everyone but nice with the good boy who helps calm him down (this dynamic is repeated in with kachaco but heterosexual version)” In addition the ship is to the detriment of murdering Kirishima's character in the supposed relationship, although Horikoshi murdered the character when he became bakugou follower without self-criticism or construction of why a character who hated bullies and who wanted to learn to be braver to protect the weak he still decides to persecute someone who doesn’t show kindness or compassion to others.

I'm going to be honest, I don't like Kirishima's character, I think that many of his scenes, especially with BK, end up reinforcing a toxic masculinity because even though BK's behavior is toxic, he ends up labeling them as "manly", I think there is never any self-criticism on Kirishima's part towards this and while I understand that this is more Horikoshi's fault than anything else, I think that the fandom presents Kirishima as a deconstruction of toxic masculinity but that they end up cementing themselves with bk, because Kirishima sees in bk only his confidence and talent but he doesn't react when his actions are simply toxic or cruel to others, krbk is presented as a ship where kirishima is bk's lapdog and the worst of all is that it agrees with the canon since kirishima never stands over him to point out his flaws.

I think the reason it gets less flak than the others is because for the most part KrBk shippers are quiet and do their own thing. Also, Ejiro’s not linked to Izuku in any way, which makes it easier for people to stomach.

I can see why you don’t like him. I’m neutral towards him but Ejiro’s biggest problem is his inconsistency. When Ejiro’s without Katsuki, he’s a very interesting character. He’s a character meant to embody positive masculinity. Sadly, he’s with Katsuki most of the time, and even when he’s not, Katsuki’s involved in some way. I get finding someone’s free spirit and determination cool, but Katsuki embodies the worst aspects of these traits. Ejiro doesn’t seem to get that. When Katsuki rushed in to hit Kurogiri, Ejiro followed, not once thinking about the ramifications. Neither gets scolded either for essentially putting the rest of their classmates in danger. If Mezou wasn’t there, things could’ve ended up much worse.

Yes, this sounds stupid, but my god it’s been almost three years of an absolute rollercoaster of feelings and denials and tears and revelations…

To start off, i wasn’t always a bkdk shipper.

I shipped izu*cha at first (not saying it’s a bad ship btw; it’s actually quite cute. im just afraid people’ll be mad if I accidentally invade their tag lol), primarily because I assumed that would be the ship that became canon.

But also, my veryyyyy leasttttt favorite character… was Bakugou Katsuki.

When I tell you that I would’ve loved nothing more than to somehow spawn into the bnha universe and punch that brat in the face— AGHHHHHHHHHH

Now this wasn’t all his fault: A) I watched the dub first lol, and B) he reminded me of someone that i was not in a place to stand up to at the time, and his constant anger, yelling, and harsh treatment of Izuku—who i began to relate to—made me hateeee him.

There was a time when I literally said “if he died, I wouldn’t miss him.” <- this was later proven false lol

So, I was watching the anime dub with an absolute animosity for our resident deuteragonist, but on top of that…

I was watching it with a friend with a crunchyroll account who lived in another state that I was visiting and staying with for two weeks, so by the time i had to go back home, we’d only gotten up to the part where All Might was getting Inko’s permission to let Izuku stay at the UA dorms.

Anddddddd in my drive to consume more bnha once I got home, i somehow stumbled across an Instagram account that posted bnha sub episodes divided into parts,

but they only had season four and onwards.

Sooooo I never saw the second half of season three… more importantly,

I NEVER SAW DEKU VS KACCHAN 2!!!!!

(I will say that I had seen a couple photos/edits/etc, but I never knew what had been said, or why they fought)

At this point in time, I’d been exposed to a lot of the fandom. My fyp on both IG and Pinterest were filled to the brim with all things bnha (because this is what happens when one has a hyperfixation), so I saw a lot of stuff.

Especially fanart.

This is where I started learning about the different ships.

I saw a lot of the side character ships and thought they were adorable (kamijirou, todomomo, even kiribaku), but then I saw some with Izuku.

Izu*cha was a given for me. I didn’t think there was a single person that didn’t ship it. But then I started seeing fanart of ships like tododeku, shindeku, and bakudeku.

And my first reaction to finding out that people shipped my beautiful baby sunshine boi with the person who bullied him for years?????

HELLLLLLLLLLL NO

So with my (unknowingly) limited knowledge of their relationship, i was very much an anti (i never spoke out or anything, i just reallyyyy didn’t like the ship lol)

(And then, you know, I started to see all the bkdk hate online and kinda went “okay not touching that”)

But that began to change…

…after I saw a manga leak for the first time.

I was scrolling thru my feed and all of a sudden. BOOM!

I was like 😧

IS THAT IZUKU?????

And i looked in the comments and yes it was.

I checked out the page and found that they had an entire account of manga leaks and was so happy.

I quickly began to read from the very bottom of that account, and it started from right about where Izuku first began his vigilante arc (i had no idea how much was in between then and where I left off on the anime, but I was willing to read it lol)

And so I waited diligently for the leaks every week (a practice I have continued to uphold lol), until one day, i came across an untranslated series of panels from the latest chapter. I looked at it and it was of Katsuki and Izuku, facing each other in the rain (you know the one). I knew the leaks would be coming a day later, but I wanted to look through them anyways, so I did.

I didn’t understand a word they said, but the pictures and imagery of them as kids then middle schoolers then where they were now seemed so touching…

And then I came across a pair of kanji that I recognized.

I was like “wait WHAT???”

I zoomed in and went “that— isn’t that—? That’s part of Midoriya’s name, right???”

And then I was like “wait a second… omg that’s Izuku, isn’t it. That’s the freaking kanji for Izuku.”

And it was!!!!!

So inside I’m having a mini freakout cuz—

Bakugou just called him IZUKU

Fast forward to the next day, and I looked at the translated version, and found out that not only did he call him Izuku,

Freaking

APOLOGIZED

And I was like “huhhhhhhh”

What happened between now and the most recent anime episodes for this to occur???? For Bakugou to do a complete 180 and apologize????????

Well, I finally got my answers…

…when I started reading the manga.

I started from the beginning, cuz I wanted to see Horikoshi’s art style and the extra drawings and all the other stuff…

And when I tell you that Katsuki became a whole new character to me—

First, I read everything about early-on Bakugou— without hearing him yell in his dub voice—and realized “oh wow he really is just a kid with issues and a worldview that he’s now having to change.”

Then, I finally read what happened in that space between moving into the dorms and the beginning of season four (most importantly, DvK2).

Cried.

Then, oh then, I got up to where season five ended and the rest of the manga began.

. . .

Funny thing: back when I read the leaks to ch322, I remember thinking to myself, “huh. what did Bakugou mean by Shigaraki making swiss cheese outta him?”

THE WAY I GASPED

AND THEN CRIED

OH MY FREAKING GOD

That was the moment where i truly ceased to hate Katsuki cuz holy character development batman

Then, of course, we see them in recovery

And then the vigilante arc and apology scene *sobs*

And then I was caught up.

(Btw I finished the entire manga up ‘til ch334 in just over a week. I read for nine days straight. During the school year. My emotions were all over the place goodness gracious I could barely concentrate.)

So that’s how I went from being a Bakugou hater to going “you know what he’s a complex character and he’s slowly becoming a better person” and realizing that he was now one of my fav characters and therefore cursed to die but I’ll talk about that later

Was I now a bakudeku shipper?

Hah nope.

I began my dive into the true essence of any fandom: fanfiction.

Over the course of winter break, I had started off with fics that had no romantic pairing (I just wanted to see my boi Izuku), but then somehow stumbled across Mastermind: Strategist for Hire and then read the entirety of the For Want of a Nail series (shoutout to Clouds btw ❤️) cuz I was like “ok whew no bkdk fics” which was my mindset at the time.

But somehow (I can’t even remember how I found it) I came across a bkdk fic. It was called For Want of Izuku’s Toe Joint by Talavin (okay now that I think about it there’s probably a simple explanation lol).

I don’t quite know what compelled me to start reading it, but I did.

And I really liked it.

But not in the “I’ve been converted” kinda way.

It was like an “I shouldn’t be enjoying this why am I enjoying this?” kinda feeling. Like my head says no but my heart says yeah.

A really really really really guilty pleasure.

So, from that day on, whenever I came across any form of bkdk media, I would simultaneously feel discomfort and yet an odd sense of satisfaction.

Sometimes I hate being right 🥲

But the good thing that came from this was that my positive view of Katsuki only grew after seeing his utter faith in Izuku (and his thoughts being on him in his final moments???? 🥺🥺🥺)

And it was at this point in time where I could admit to myself “you know what? i see it. i see the appeal. i wouldn’t mind this actually becoming canon.”

Did I think that it would actually become canon?? No.

Everything was downhill from here folks.

In the best possible way.

I came across some analyses of what was going on with togachako, and consequently led me to some bakudeku analyses. I read them and my goodness they made so much sense.

Like not even just personality-wise!! Those metas brought in actual things Horikoshi said about wanting to go outside the norms of shounen (and about not liking the Naruto ending 💀), and compared bkdk to tropes in different works of fiction, and even discussed how bkdk made sense narratively. They properly convinced me of the ship.

And then for good measure, I reread the manga in its entirety thru a bkdk filter, and lo and behold things took on new meanings and my eyes were opened.

I totally and irrevocably shipped them! And I actually thought they had a chance at being canon!!

(And then I binged so much bkdk fanfiction omg you wouldn’t BELIEVE like I read the ones with the highest kudos first and then just picked the biggest collections I could find and read down the line

And then finally, the day came.

The answer to “is bakugou alive yet?” became a yes.

We screamed. We cried. We jumped for joy. We told bakugou antis to suck it. But most of all, our bkdk hearts soared to see our boys make eye contact with each other for the first time in over a year 🥹

And from that moment on, I truly began to believe that bkdk would indeed become canon.

Indeed. As someone who loves Kirishima, his lack of reaction is extremely odd and concerning, especially given his character and that it would be extremely baffling to be against bullies except completely miss the biggest one in their class. It's probably a mix of factors. One is that since the tournament thing he has since been in love with Bakugo. Prior to that, Kirishima actually had sense and didn't like Bakugo and was the first to bring up that Bakugo was straight up trying to kill Izuku in that first exam All Might was a bad teacher in and just let continue (What the heck All-Might?!). If the teacher wasn't worried then neither should he. And then seeing Bakugo despite being an awful horrible person, Kirishima is blinded by the fact that well Bakugo is himself and how manly, strong, and self-confident he is. All things Kirishima admires and wants to be as even if he's a cruel personality, he is always at the least unapologetically and horribly himself and goes for what he wants. And now in love with and admiring him, Kirishima does have to probably do a lot of mental gymnastics cognitive dissonance in "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" as long as he could brush it aside. As the rest of the class does when considering Bakugo. (And at this point even if Kirishima is in love with him, it then is come on with the rest of them too). And as long as Bakugo wasn't trying to kill Izuku again...that was progress? Or yeah he's just going to inwardly sigh and hope Izuku and Bakugo don't get paired up. And Kirishima has become Bakugo's hold backer explainer to people. And as he is emotionally intelligent (except when it comes to realizing Bakugo's desires are awful with Izuku) he has figured out that Bakugo is important to Izuku (gosh darn Izuku WHY?! Why do you admire him so because All-Might is understandable. But Bakugo is...this is dumb story idiocy to make him relevant because even if Bakugo never gives up putting up with him is just yikes) for reasons and that if it doesn't bother Izuku, he shouldn't let it bother him and let Izuku sort it out whatever weird stuff he and Bakugo has going on. He respects Izuku a lot and if Izuku wants to let Bakugo around or whatever he'll let him. (We also don't know if Kirishima ever talks to Bakugo about it off-screen/page how he treats Izuku or with Izuku) And when Bakugo does get more violent Kirishima does try to hold him back and definitely is a lot more concerened when he does hurt Izuku. But if Izuku wants to be called by a horrible nickname to reclaim it, then power to Izuku that is manly. And for all he knows this is Izuku's and Bakugo's weird bonding thing and might even squint hard to see if they're friends (yeah see no evil) try to slide it that way. And Kirishima might think Izuku is also a masochist and even into this and want it. Which is why he doesnt step in. But I think if Kirishima ever knew the severity and true depths of it before (like when he saw how Bakugo was just straight up trying to kill Izuku in the exam) he would step in and if Izuku actually asked for help. Until then, Kirishima is the Bakugo whisperer and axctually manages to keep him somewhat calm and restrained and well, in love with him.

Kirishima's (and to a lesser degree the rest of 1-A's) POV on the dynamic between Midoriya and Bakugou

Kirishima and Deku some things in common: Both of them are among the sweetest kids in 1-A. Humble about themselves, but very open about their admiration for others. There is little doubt, that they also hold admiration for each other. Along with Uraraka and Asui, the two boys had to keep their involvement in the Shie Hassaikai raid a secret from the rest of their class for weeks, they have prepared for the operation together, and went into the raid together.

However, I’m not sure, where to place Midoriya from Kirishima's POV regarding their biggest commonality: Each of them has a significant personal tie to Bakugou, albeit very different ones.

Bakugou haters and apologists alike, have argued about class 1-A’s hypothetic reactions towards the true extent of Bakugou’s bullying of Deku, as well as whether those would be warranted or not, to death. I have no desire to get into that.

Nevertheless, I have wondered about Kirishima’s thoughts behind his canonical reaction towards Midoriya and Bakugou's interactions. Or more precisely, his lack of reaction throughout the series.

To contrast: There's one scene where Uraraka confronts Bakugou and point-blank asks him, why he treats Deku like dirt. I see this as a very brave act from Uraraka. not because of who and how Bakugou is (crass at best, violent at worst, let’s not sugarcoat this), because I don’t think that he would have attacked her physically, but because of the cultural context of Japan. It is very frowned upon to “meddle” in what people perceive to be others’ private business.

While I am of the opinion that their relationship to each other is mostly Deku and Bakugou’s private business, I would not classify Uraraka confronting Bakugou with the negative connotations of meddling:

By being so openly hostile to Deku, Bakugou has also broken the social rule of keeping your private business, well, private, and not imposing your issues on others. His degree of unrestrained hostility towards Deku could have (or has it canonically?) very well disturb the entire group’s hero training overall.

In the present, Deku is Uraraka’s friend. And their mutual classmate is presently treating him like shit.

In my eyes, those two facts are reasons enough, for Uraraka to ask Bakugou some questions.

One would think that those would be reason enough for Kirishima to confront Bakugou too. So why has neither he, nor any of the other 1-A kids done anything of significance in that direction?

Uraraka confronted Bakugou with questions, where he would have either be able to justify himself somehow or cease his aggression towards Deku. Of course, at that point, Bakugou does neither and just leaves huffing and puffing. But people have to ask others such question, and not just as a throwaway remark (a half-hearted "Bakugou, calm down" doesn't count.), to signal, that their treatment of others is not acceptable. Afterall, continuous disapproval can influence people to change their behaviour.

Even if one may object, that Kirishima is closer to Bakugou than he is to Deku... that would actually only be more of an argument for Kirishima to intervene, because he has more emotional leverage over Bakugou than e.g. Uraraka.

And even with everything else aside, based on Kirishima’s overall characterization, one would think, that he would never be okay with his friend attacking another classmate repeatedly for no discernible legitimate reason.

The only tentative possible reason I could come up with, for why Kirishima never intervened here, is, that since the day they all entered UA together, Deku had never seemed less capable than Bakugou. Aka. Kirishima never perceived a power disparity between them.

However, Kirishima and the rest of 1-A saw what Bakugou did to Deku during their first class assignment (All Might deserves criticsm for not interrupting that fight. He truly was a bad teacher... still isn't a good one). After that incident, Bakugou’s verbal aggression towards Deku also still continued for a while.

While Kirishima may not be emotionally intelligent to same degree that e.g. someone like Kaminari is implied to be, Kirishima is still sensitive to his peers’ feelings (see his reaction towards Tsu-chan's sadness after Kamino).

Furthermore, one must simply be blind and deaf to have missed Bakugou’s belligerency towards Deku - that lasted at least until they had beaten the crap out of each other and got grounded together.

As such, it can be safely inferred, that Kirishima (and the rest of 1-A) noticed that Midoriya and Bakugou had bad history with each other - and that the animosity came one-sidedly from Bakugou.

Either way. If I witnessed a peer being repeatedly put down by another, I would firmly and repeatedly tell the latter to knock it off, stfu, and get himself a therapist for his anger issues...

What did Kirishima see, when he looked at Deku, and saw how Bakugou treated him?

How did Kirishima justify it to himself, to not try harder to get his bestie to stop being a total dick to another friend/ a classmate?

After Bakugou apologized to Deku in front of all of 1-A, did Kirishima and the rest of the class ever wonder, what exact actions warranted such a gesture from someone as proud as Bakugou?
