Bruno's origins are murky and hard to pin down. Aside from being Kirk Langstrom's awkward and reclusive son, not much is known about how they met or why. Mostly because I kept trying to come up with an explanation but it was so frustrating I stopped.

He's been with Langstrom for years though, hard to say exactly how long. Kirk raised him in secrecy - he might be fucked up but he did the job well. Bruno never really got a chance to interact with the outside world, save for a few occasions - Kirk was rightfully worried he'd be targeted and hunted down for being what he was.

After the Batman made himself known to the public, and Kirk's obsession with him grew worse, their relationship strained slightly. This of course eventually culminate in the events of The Man Who Would Be Bat, but Bruno never stopped worrying about him. Sure, his father might be able to turn into a blood sucking monstrosity now - but they do love each other.

Needless to say that after Kirk is arrested, Bruno is left alone and afraid. The world he knew came crumbling down on him, and his only way to solve this - in his eyes - was by getting Kirk out of Arkham somehow. Confused, isolated and hopeless, Bruno becomes a petty thief for that exact desperate purpose.

Truth be told, Bruno would manage not to land himself in prison, regardless of what he stole. I actually Like this version of Batman, and feel like he, more than any other, would sympathize with Bruno's situation, and promise he'd get his father the help he needed (actual psychiatric attention for a start), and, in exchange, Bruno returned all the stolen goods in his possession.

This doesn't really change much in the public's opinion of Bruno though. He's a monster in their eyes, and they want him arrested - or killed, for tall they care. Bruno is forced to live in the shadows after exposing himself like that - and eventually he might turn for the worse. We'll just have to wait and see how he ends up.

Notes:

Yes Bruno is considerably OP and full of powers he shouldn't have. The trade off for this is that he's extremely shy and horrible at Doing things bc of just how sheltered he is - Bruno is incredibly naive and easily fooled.

He does 'wisen up' with time but oh god he's a freak at first. Peak autism animal. His immediate response to being surprised or flustered in general was Biting or Petrifying People.

His age sliding thing is bc I'm still younger than like, every F/O I listed for him so it doesn't matter.

* → I'll be using Psimon's Young Justice design and personality when I pair him up with Bruno, because I don't care about any other. This means I'll insert him where he doesn't belong or fit and replace his other self (like in TT).

I'll do the same for Kirk if I decide to put Bruno in BTAS, but for now I just don't care enough about that show to say for sure!

yoinked the finished uniform drawings from their individual refs and pasted them onto one canvas to give a nicer-looking sneak peek. Which, I mean, *does* show the armor fully and this kinda shows 90% of the outfit stuff I made up for the Xariels. Oh yeah, if anyone's seen the OG 7, 2 of 'em are new characters. The new total crew is 13. Technically gunna be making more cuz story stuff (the lil event that gave Atax his tail scar, Potchly and Rimeru were also there).

and yeah I'm really making sure to make a story with these guys and been working on them for multiple days alongside comms - I think this is the most art I've made in several days w/o getting massive burnout.

ok so i have finally given my tomtar a bit of a Revamp... i was unsatisfied with them just being basically. anthro corvid. now i mean theyre still kind of Anthro birdish creature, but now they arent birds anymore and rather related to harpies and basilisks (whose ancestors are the scansoriopterygids).

ive been pondering some world lore with them and also vätte technology as well as their energy resource so yes they now fit a bit the "dwarvern/gnome tinkerer" archetype hehe...

I'm really disappointed in how TOH CAN design cool looking demon designs, but the very few we do have as part of the main cast/main side cast (Vee, Barcus, King and Hooty) are all extremely conventional looking (Vee doesn't resemble the other basilisks of her type when it comes to her face :( ) two of those four are just, dogs. King's got an adorable Cubone look going on (even Belos thinks he's a dog) and Barcus was just straight-up pupper. I think that's why I remember Principal Faust's design so much. For a guy who was only in one episode and a handful of scenes, he really sticks out to me in design alone and I wish we had gotten more characters like that. The point of shows with neat premises is that its not palatable for everyone, and when most of the supporting cast are basically humans with pointy ears, just </3

I do like giving nonhuman features to the Hexsquad like Willow having deer features, Amity have cat like features, Gus being all batty and Hunter having like, a werewolf transformation into some sort of Selkidomus/Stonesleeper creature. Not full Anthro cause I like their regular designs but enough to make them more creature.

more anthro wc designs, this time from an au ive been thinking of? asc protags, nightheart, sunbeam, and frostpaw. trying to come up with a more human like society that mirrors the cats in the books is tricky but fun. ive settled on something a bit like modern fantasy

some worldbuilding notes under cut ->

cats have the "kit" suffix (flamekit, sunkit, frostkit) until they begin Apprenticeship, the cats' word for going to school, at around kindergarten age. Their names then get the "paw" suffix (flamepaw, sunpaw, frostpaw) until their graduation ceremony, when they're given their full name, which they unveil by opening their diploma. Their schooling lasts twelve years, until they're about 18 years old. Some cats go to even more schooling for more tricky skills, like doctors and such.

The cats have surnames, which are a combination of their parents suffixes. For example, Nightheart's parents are Sparkpelt and Larksong, and so his full name is Nightheart Songpelt. The other two are Sunbeam Tailheart and Frostpaw Clawfeather

The cats begin in General Apprenticeship (equivalent of primary/elementary school) where they learn stuff like reading, writing, and other basic skills of their clan (ie swimming for riverclan). then around age 11-12 are assigned a Mentor, who begins tutoring them in more specific skills.

Creatures that are threats in the canon series (adders, foxes, badgers, dogs, twolegs) are now fantasy monsters of various kinds. Twolegs are giants, dogs are werewolves, adders are basilisks, etc

"star" is a title like "sir" or "doctor". Leaders aren't the only cats given a "star" title (for example, Squirrelflight isn't a leader, she's an important scientist), however a cat must have been given a "star" title to be the deputy or leader of the clan. like you'd call someone Dr (name), "Star" is appended to the front of the name, for example: Squilf's full name would be Star Squirrelflight Stormheart.

Leaders still get nine lives, however they live MUCH longer than Mortal cats. Leadership is seen as a burden because you will become almost immortal and outlive most of your loved ones
