i'm so glad they brought back tommy for buck. they could've brought back eli. they could've brought back the openly gay firefighter. they could've introduced someone new. but instead they brought back tommy: the guy who was stuck in the old boys' club, as well as figuring himself out around the same age as buck. the guy who wasn't warm or welcoming to chim or hen when they first arrived but who clearly struggled with doing so, and then who came to appreciate them and have their backs and enjoy their friendship. the guy who was there to see how bobby made a real difference to the 118, made it like a family before he left. the guy who was there for bobby's introduction of 'family dinners'. the guy who left the 118 so that buck could take his place there. the guy with the tk initials. the guy who shares a name with 2 other poignant tommys in the narrative for buck. the guy who chim called not once but twice for help and he answered. the guy who was saved by chimney and who will (hopefully) get to return the favour. the guy who made such pivitol personal growth in his time at the 118 thanks to chim and hen and bobby. they brought back the guy who proves that it's never too late to change, to grow, to be open and soft and caring. that it's never too late to learn about yourself, to figure out who you are as well as the person you want to be. that it's never too late to become a better version of yourself.

we finally found another Myrmarachne ant mimic, in our bathroom of all places.

I've been itching to get some more photos of these spiders since getting my speedlite, but they're very elusive and almost constantly in motion. thankfully this lady was content to explore a sheet of cardboard while I took a million photos of her like a madman.

special shoutout to my wonderful partner for a) spotting the spider in our house and b) wiggling their fingers in front of her to keep her attention while I got these photos (it seems jumping spiders are the wayward cats of the arthropod world lol).

I'll link my other Myrmarachne post here, as its interesting to compare the colouration of the two individuals. likely the same species, but my previous sighting had a much brighter gold on her abdomen.

there were all kinds of game modes for Goldeneye and Perfect Dark that became meme setups that spread all over, but I don't think I've ever heard of anybody else doing the mode my friends always did in Perfect Dark, which is: no items or weapons except Combat Boost.

the Combat Boost slows the gameplay down a lot. which is a huge advantage in single player, but in local multiplayer there's not really any way to slow it down just for one person. so instead it makes the game slow for everybody, for basically zero net benefit to any player

and you're stuck fighting with your fists, which do awful damage and make people's vision blurry when you hit them

so it was just this 45 minute slog of everybody chasing each other around while their vision was an incomprehensible blur, swinging their fists wildly, and then some fucker would holler slo-mo 'COOOOOMBAAAAAT BOOOOOOOOOST' and slow things to a crawl for no reason except to make the game worse and everyone would groan and shout insults at them

this is an intentionally bad game mode that everybody hated. needless to say we played it for approximately three hours every time we hung out

Sometimes i wonder how much the venom effected Garmadon, even when he got purified from it, or when it didn’t have such a strong effect on his mental state anymore.

Because the devourers venom was with Garmadon since childhood. It was one of the first and will be one of the last things he ever understood so wholeheartedly. Like a disease you’ve gotten far too comfortable with after years of having it. Garmadon never truly knew life without the venom, so he and the venom essentially became one.

I look at Sensei Garmadon and wonder how he questioned how much he truly cared for Wu and Misako at that point. I think he continued to have the intrusive thoughts that constantly followed him around, and now that he no longer has the venom to specifically blame, he knows he is one of the most horrifically disgusting people alive as he unwillingly imagines things he wouldn’t(but could’ve) do.

He is split between keeping himself away from Lloyd and being the father he knows the other needs and so he runs off far away. He hides and hopes his son won’t have the time to visit in his little dojo.

He feels his heart beat as its ripped to pieces when he learns that Misako will follow him. That the love of his life won’t leave him like how he left her, yet he is terrified knowing what he could be capable of.

And as much as he wished to cry in a corner about it, he is constantly thankful that his relationship with Wu is far too messed up for the other to happily follow him along anywhere.

I think Garmadon, no matter what happens, could never escape the effect the venom had on him. The venom is him and he is the venom and he will never avoid that. It is apart of him, in such a deeply intimate way.

apologies for the.. imperfect quality, they are tiny and FAST. ive been assuming theyre camponotus consobrinus ants, but they move very strangely compared to the other ants in my yard, in short twitchy bursts

in other news, i was the guy who had a dome web spider in their yard with a bunch of eggs and babies, well now her babies are all grown up and having spiderlings of their own!

Photos are almost always better than a video for ID. Those lil friends are black-headed strobe ants, Opisthopsis rufithorax.

Congrats to the spider on her enormous clutch of babies!
