The paripus opened his mouth in order to give one of his usual witty remarks, only for a rare occurrence to take it's place at her sudden inquiry:

Fidelio found himself speechless.

Folded ears flattened to his head, the fur of his tail bristling in surprise, practically doubling it's size as he stared at her with wide, dumbfounded eyes.

Surely he had misheard her, right? Or perhaps she had misspoke?? Was this some sort of stupid bet?? That clearly could be the only explanations for the question.

Golden eyes averted as a distinct pink hue overtook the paripus' face.

❝My emotions? I feel as though I don't struggle much with expressing most of them. Whether or not they are interpreted by others correctly . . . is more of the challenge. I won't deny I my demeanor can come across somewhat subdued, but I am not a child. I don't see the reason for overdramatized responses to things.

There are few situations that I find myself struggling with due to how infrequently they arise, although I am almost always able to overcome them.❞

Oliver was nearly to his brother's apartment when he felt his phone go off. Probably just a Birthday Valentine's day text from Mally. He had snuck out before his business partner could catch him after all. While he would have very much rather spent the day at home, he knew Amby would have somehow managed to drag his ass here anyway

Fishing his phone out of his pocket along with the apartment keys, Oliver glanced at the screen. The unknown number caught his attention, and the rose haired man paused to check it.

He was surprised to say the least when he realized who had sent it, curiously opening the video.

The sheer look of shock and panic on Gideon's face in the video brought a smile to Ollie's own, the first since he'd woken up this morning.

❝Damn, he actually did it.❞ He couldn't help but laugh to himself. Served that jerk right. Though . . . this was going to be a little awkward.

His grin remained, even as he looked up from his phone to see the malice filled glare Giddy was giving him now as the door opened. Knowing his time was limited, Oliver sent a quick text in response before Ambrose also appeared in the doorway to drag him inside.

Gentle Care pt 2 || Accepting

Allister clutched his mask to his chest, a small smile playing on his lips. He'd never been one to care about grand gestures. Small reassurances were all he required to be contented. Especially now, some may question the man's words, but for better or worse, Allister truly believed them. And in a sense, the boy still felt indebted to him after all he'd done for him.

After all, those years ago, if Rose hadn't offered him the position he still held today, it would be anyone's guess where Allister would be today. He had even been kind enough to keep their arrangement a secret. The vast majority of the league still didn't know why the boy's parents were always unusually absent from every match. Most would probably disapprove of a child as young as he was residing alone, would have likely sent the boy to live in an orphanage, the sheer idea of which terrified the boy.

He preferred to be alone with the ghosts after all, and it allowed him to further deepen his bond with the dead! It wasn't as though the boy was lacking for anything, he was able to focus upon his schooling and the gym without worrying about anything, it was all taken care of for him so long as he followed the rules. And that part was easy.

So, despite what anyone said, Allister would always be grateful to Rose, and still felt safe in his presence. The absence of his mask and the lessened struggle to speak plenty proof of that.

The island itself was proving to be a nice change of pace, despite the time he spent confined to a bed, trapped by his own brother of all people. Although he certainly wouldn't admit it, he was enjoying their time spent here. It was just a shame their time here would be coming to an end so soon after he was now fully able to enjoy it, the residual twinges of pain in his ankle nothing he couldn't handle.

Maybe . . . he would have to find an excuse for Bas and himself to return to the island, and without an injury to take up their time.

Fidelio wasn't quite sure what that fruit the islanders were sharing with them was, but it left the short paripus in a much more agreeable than usual. And surprisingly enough, he didn't notice the pain as much after consuming it as well.

Personally, I feel a detective's energy is much better spent on the task at hand, rather than flashing a smile to the public and clinging to a title.

While I will admit there is very much a social and political aspect to the job, there is such a thing as taking it too far, and should not be the largest focus of one's attentions. Solving crimes is far more important than a popularity contest.

But, I digress. He has achieved enough to garner the moniker, so I suppose he must hold enough skill to deserve it. As previously stated, I haven't personally been acquainted, and therefore cannot form my true judgment on the matter.❞
