Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson are back in mischief mode in “Loki” Season 2, the first footage of which has debuted courtesy of Disney+’s 2023 preview trailer. The “Loki” footage shows Hiddleston’s beloved anti-hero up to no good in the Time Variance Authority. In another scene, Loki and Wilson’s Mobius are surrounded by Loki clones. “A little over the top, don’t you think?” Mobius asks Loki.
Plot details for “Loki” Season 2 remain under wraps. Sophia Di Martino will be back as Lady Loki, as will Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Renslayer. “Indiana Jones” and “Everything Everywhere All at Once” favorite Ke Huy Quan is joining the cast as a new character.
“Season 2 picks up where Season 1 left off,” Tom Hiddleston told fans at Disney’s D23 convention in September. “Loki is back in the TVA and Mobius doesn’t seem to know who he is.”
“It’s a little bit like that Talking Heads song,” Wilson added “And in season two we’re going to answer, ‘How did I get here?’”
“Loki” was renewed for Season 2 by Disney+ last July, the same day as the Season 1 finale. The second season began production over the summer. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has said that “Loki” is Disney+’s most-watched Marvel series. Season 1 writer Eric Martin is penning all the episodes of the second season, while “Moon Knight” directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead are helming the majority of the episodes.
“Fans are gonna be in for a real treat because the show is bolder and more surreal,” Mbatha-Raw told Entertainment Tonight about the new season. “And in many ways, goes to some bigger, bolder places than season 1, which is really exciting.”
The Disney+ 2023 preview also includes the first shot from the new “Star Wars” series “Ahsoka,” starring Rosario Dawson, plus new footage from David Lowery’s “Peter Pan and Wendy” and the Pixar series “Win or Lose.”

I somehow couldn’t reblog your post
@azurowle
And I can't seem to tag black-metal-and-kitties for some reason but she's right on what she said on your post. We should judge individually, but there is a difference between being part of a group because you decide to be part of it on the basis of sharing the same opinion and ideas/ ideals or being part of a group because you are grouped with them on the basis of an innate trait (in this case transsexuality). If they want to be judged individually they should show the same courtesy to trans people. And not just trans men, also trans women. Every group has bad apples in it that should be called out and dealt with. Claiming that radfems always do this and trans people never is wrong (not that anyone said it, I just wanted to put that out here). Like you said, in the case of nova or top*d*ke or the LGBalliance who is pushing their anti-trans agenda while teaming up with the right-wing or anti-gay groups and organizations or which in general produces bad takes.
And the somehow famous biphobic supporter Julie Bindel and Sarah Ditum
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not to mention their very cringe tune song “stand up” (really not linking the video, if you must, look it up on youtube, but it’s very very disturbing. A new German word I recently learned “fremdscham-moment”. However that is pronounced)
Here’s also an interesting tweet I’ve read. And here the archived link in case the original is broken. (David Paisley doing some analysis)
https://twitter.com/cr_wford/status/1218961789423099904?s=20
https://twitter.com/MechaniVal/status/1218637996481748993
https://twitter.com/ryanjohnbutcher/status/1220396550272229381
(just some tweets I saved for myself, that are interesting)
And this story that is really ironic:
https://twitter.com/youngvulgarian/status/1218865401230233600
And I know the following is just really nitpicking, but I hate their choice of flags. First of all they really should have put more money for a graphic designer and second of all it really resembles the “straight-pride” flag. I admit, at first I was overjoyed a group like this existed, because I don’t exactly disagree with these 3 statements over there (though there is more to it for it to be simply put like this, like everything in the world is nuanced). And I really believed they would use their range to actually ask the MP important questions, but none of them were tackling LGB issues...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I believe we should all judge people individually. Not every trans person is the same as another and they certainly don't share the same opinions.
... Really sorry for this long post.

What are some of ur fav scenes from season 1 of IB (and DBO since you watched it)?
Yaar, anon, I really had to think for this one.
Okay here goes:
The Obros doing aarti together for the first time, their parents can go take a hike lol
Omkara throwing away his statue in anger and then crying, as he overhears Pinky taking jibes at Jahnvi for raising her sons badly.
Om consoling Rudy as Shivaay is in the hospital after Gayatri’s attack 😭
First Rumya scene in the hospital
ShivKara saving Rudy at the pub, after pulling his leg.
Annika and Sahil scenes 😭😭 (I just love their bond, its a lot like me and my younger brother. Both our brothers are younger but wayyyy wiser than us lol)
The ShivKara and Obros scene after Om takes excess sleeping pills. “Tujhe har cheez ka haq hain par mujhe chhod ke jaane ka nahi” (or something like that) 😭😭😭
Omkara teaching Shivaay and Rudra how to say ‘sorry’ and ‘thank you’, meanwhile the girls on their own trip about the pathetic boys.
Annika singing the iconic “Billu ki Shaadi hogi”😂😂😂 song, which later became the motto and tagline of IB.
Soumya tricking Rudra as Love Angel and making him to lameass stuff to make a fool of himself over Romi
The sarso ka saag episode, the entire family having dinner like a normal fam
The Janmashthami episode “Billu ki pant phatt gayi” 😂😂😂
Rakshabandhan scene between Annika/Sahil and Om/Soumya. 😭😭
The entire Mallika track (thats the reason I started watching the show, ‘cos Surbhi Jyoti came for a cameo) esp. the Shitia letter, Shivaay with his past, present, and future, and Mallika explaining everyone what her issue was. 💜
The Phukat Raja episodes where Sahil solves the mystery and Shivika + OmRu are on the chase of the fake video girl in that chawl. 😂😂
The scene where the Obros get high on meds after saving Annika from the goons. “Main aasmaan mein udhna chahta hoon” Also, Omkara’s love for Riddhima’s pink cushions. 😂😂
Rudra and Soumya on the run from Romi Devi and getting married accidentally.
Omkara’s drug track 😭😭 (Kunal’s best acting in the show)
Rudra’s dance on break up song after Om and Riddhima break up.😂😂
Omkara and Rudra exposing Shivaay forcing Annika to marry him. The entire family giving Shivaay a piece of their mind. Esp. Rudra saying “Bhaiyaa aap hero se villain kab ban gaye?”
Omkara and Rudra messing with Mrs. Kapoor “Un se panga na lo jinke do-do devar hain”
Rudra catching Soumya in the stairs
Annika saving Tia from piercing her tummy on that pointed vase, showing that she is a bigger person than Tia that she still cares for her baby despite Tia trying to kill Annika.

Tia and Svetlana and their magnificent vampish looks at the fuckery of the Oberois during the Kapoor sisters track.
Shivaay consoling OmRu, and the Obros hug after Jahnvi’s suicide attempt 😭😭
Annika and Svetlana’s Naagin dance during that memory loss track 🔥
Tia breaking down on reuniting with Robin (?) returning to her good self. Also her equation with Shivaay and Annika
Shivaay reuniting with his brothers after he comes back from his kidnap/replacement by Mahi. 😭😭
Annika and Shivaay when they go outside Mumbai, the time Annika burns Shivaay’s car down and two theifs masquerading as Forest Officers give them a lift. 😂😂
The first two weeks of DBO, they were awesome, man. Esp. Kali and Gauri scenes, each and every one of them. 🔥🔥
The scene in the train “Zaroor aapke saath kuch bura huya hoga, tabhi aap aise ho gaye hain” + the jungle scene “Sharma!” “Ssarma?” 😂😂
Rikara marriage
Gauri and Dandi bhaiyaa scenes, esp. the scene after he saves her from the goons in the Shaktiman costume
Gauri helping Svetlana in outwitting the autowallahs, and dancing to naajaane kaha se aayi hai.😂😂
Omkara and Chulbul’s fairylights scene.
ShivOmRu getting freaked out by Chulbul and testing the “static” 😂😂
Rudra breaking into Maa Da Laadla whenever Chulkara collide.😂😂
Svetlana skating back to Mumbai clinging to Om’s car, and reaching before them. (I don’t think I’ll ever get over this scene) 🤣🤣🤣
Gauri hiding from Shivaay. 😂😂
Omkara explaining Chulbul the meaning of One Night Stand 😂😂
Chulbul and Rudra interactions, esp. the one where Chulbul is locked inside and he uses a magnet to make the robot bang its head on the door, to grab Rudra’s attention who is standing outside listening to songs on his ipod. (I’ve watched this scene 10 times and I still crack up like mad watching the robot pound its head on the door).🤣🤣🤣
The first scene of Thakurain Gauri (Shrenu’s best acting till date. Thakurain Gauri is a legend, who deserves an entire show just dedicated to her. She’s my god and queen and boss!) 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Gauri and Kali’s argument. “Teri yeh bedhiyaan hamaare paaon jakar sakti, hamaare mann ko nahi, tu humpe pehra pehra laga sakta hain, par hamari soch pe nahi, Gauri Kumari Ssarma ko tod sakta hain, par uske visvaas ko nahi” The summary of DBO in one dialogue. 🔥🔥
Gauri questioning Om on his warped notion of truth “Aapko lagta hain jo aap dekh rahe hai, vahi sach hain?”
Gauri looking down at Omkara when she’s doing pooja
Glucose vaali chai
Gauri’s first argument with Svetlana “Dekho tum…” “Dekh hi toh rahe hai!” SvetRi ftw!

Rikara scene by the cupboard. Gauri giving it back to Omkara
Rikara couch + rain hug scene
The DBO finale when Gauri drags Omkara’s arse and Omkara stops her from leaving
The Pari track, the Obros were damn hilarious. 😂😂
Gauri dragging Omkara’s arse after Pinky taunts her+ the fairytale story scene where Gauri questions him.
Rikara sketchbook scene where Omkara talks about his art (also the most deep and meaningful scene this show has ever written) 💜
Rudra and Gauri’s ‘perspiration’ scene, esp. Rudra trying to persuade Gauri to abandon the dupatta while doing jumping jacks.😂😂
Rikara scene during the exhibition “Jo cheez kahi na ja sake, usse bolna zaroori nahi hai”
ShivKara beating Rudra with pillows for his advice on relationships. 😂😂
Rudra and Gauri teaming up and Gauri explaining what atrangi means.
Gauri messing with Ragini “Tumhaara koi kaam dhaam nahi hain kya? Jab dekho yaha pe rehti ho”
Shivaay and Gauri rakhi scene (another scene which made me emo)  😭😭
Gauri messing up Vikram and Annika’s engagement. “Bhaabhi paagal ho gayi hai” “Ragini Naagini” 😂😂
Gauri feeding everyone bhaang vaale ladoos + the Rikara scene the morning after the ratjaga. “Nasha kiya na tumne?” “Nahi humne toh sirf laddoo khaaye…galti se” 😂😂
Gauri and Ragini gallofying each other in their heads 😂😂 (Gauri is a lot like Shivaay, in the sense, Shivaay used to provoke fights with Annika due to his attraction to her, while Gauri does the same wrt to Svetty and Ragini. Of course, Omkara’s asexuality made Gauri embrace her lesbian side)
Annika and Gauri scene the night before the fake wedding
Shivaay telling Gauri what’s his problem and why is he playing ego-ego with Annika
Shivaay finding out about Pinky’s truth and telling her that any goodness in him is because of his brothers, OmRu. 😭😭
Shivaay and Annika shipping Rikara. Shivaay feeding pakodas to Gauri and chaabi ghumaaoing while Annika telling Om that Gauri has “move on” 😂😂
Annika asking Gauri play romantic songs and Gauri responding with “Radha Krishan ke prem geet” 😂😂
Gauri and Om talking in their heads in the car. 😂😂
Shivaay and Annika making terrible food in their food challenge
Gauri and Omkara fighting off the robbers “Ee toh chirote hain, humein lootne ke liye aaye hain” + the Rikara scene “Mujhe bevkoof bana rahi ho?”
Rudra handing over his pehli kamaayi to Bhavya after fixing a pipe. I’m not a Ruvya fan, but this scene was perhaps the only scene where Rudra’s character showed any growth i.e. him learning that value of money and how to earn it.
Omkara rolling his eyes at Gauri 1267th time doing her lame sunglass and candy trick.
Omkara having to restrain Gauri from picking a fight with Dangal Dada + situation reverse and Omkara shrugging away Gauri’s hand and the poor girl being thrown back 😂😂
Gauri worrying over how Omkara is going to be smashed to bits by Balram “Main ladunga” 😂😂
Gauri’s dangal fight + Omkara, for once in his life, getting to be the hero
Gauri upset at Omkara’s reaction at the chai thela “Jab aapko kuch pata hi nahi, toh phir pooch kyun rahe hain”
Shivaay consoling Gauri after the exhibition fiasco
Gauri finding Omkara blindfolded.
Shivaay gifting Annika Sahil’s adoption papers.
Annika and Gauri’s trip to the village and saving Suman on that phatphatti. Bhaujaai and Chuitki fleeing on the bike will remain epic. 😂😂
Shivika and Rikara’s parallel scenes in the prison. “Hamaare sehen karne shakti ab khatam ho chuki hain”
Inspector Taadka putting the entire Oberoi family into prison “Arey yeh baat bahut karte hain” 😂😂
Omkara getting drunk and confessing his anger to his parents, when Gauri goes missing for 15 days. Esp. Tej trying to reconcile with Om “Badi der kar di huzoor aate aate”😭😭 I actually felt bad for Omkie at this point (does not mean I forgive him, but boy has a lotta issues fucking his head courtesy his parents)
Gauri breaking up with Omkara, confessing that she made a mistake falling in love with a loser like him, who keeps misunderstanding her because of his sick mentality (Also, Shankarji in the back). Epic scene! 🔥🔥
Gauri getting dressed for Karva chauth
Dilpreet questioning Gauri’s ability to manage Richa’s wedding finances and Gauri asserting that no one might have any faith in her, but she has faith in herself and Shankarji.
Annika’s mad “buddhi” dance at Gauri’s roka. ShivKara’s WTF expressions. 😂😂
Gauri delivering a set down to Omkara and rejecting his “confession”
Annika having nightmare of Chutki and hugging Gauri while they are sleeping 😭😭
The Obros funny scene and pillow fight 😂😂
Gauri questioning Omkara, if he would have forgiven her if she had done all that, he did + tearing off the dupatta at the temple, and telling Omkara to GTFO. (the point at which Rikara story should have ended, with their separation, because Om’s redemption is not possible).
Obros kidnapping Gauri (’cos consent doesn’t exist in their dictionary). Rudra going “Mubarakho bhaabhi, hum aapko kidnap kar rahe hai” 😂😂
The Obros lameass attempts to hide Gauri. Rudra “Ab firauti ki demand kare?” 😂😂
Pia getting the LOLs out of fucking with the Obros.
Rudra ordering the Royal Bengal Tiger. Shivaay “Yeh sher nahi, tiger hain!”
Gauri enthusiastically planning to drug bade bhaiyaa with “Babaji ki booti” +Om having it by mistake and going “Surooooor” 😂😂
The one scene where Annika shows Gauri her new home in Goa.
The holi scene where Annika and Gauri get high on bhaang vaale gujiya. “Sher toh hamara chirota maarta hain” “Manjhla devar shikari hain?” “Naahi naahi woh *roars* vaala sher nahi, waah waah vaala sher maarte hain” 😂😂
Annika and Gauri sleeping together like old times after the AniRi reunion. 😭😭
Omkara gifting Gauri the trophy saying ‘you are my hero’. The context was stupid, but I’m all here for Omkie Shomkie stating the facts.
The AniRi scenes from redux
Yeah, I can’t remember anymore and I’m exhausted. I’m sure there are others, but my memory is hazy now. Do we have any in common, anon?

MINED MUSIC - I Never Really Knew You (feat. Miss Geist & Dara Zusko) ©P...
Listen & Download: https://bfan.link/i-never-really-knew-you
Mined Music is back with a fantastic new studio effort: I Never Really Knew You (feat. Miss Geist & Dara Zusko).
Mined Music is an artist who recently released a fantastic new studio work titled I Never Really Knew You (feat. Miss Geist & Dara Zusko). Mined Music has always been able to create music that’s incredibly diverse in terms of production, and this release is no exception. The instrumental is on-point, with some amazing background parts and some ambient-driven soundscapes. The drum beat itself is direct, going for a mellow, yet assertive and energetic sound. The vocal per-formances by LA artist Miss Geist are special, adding a sheen of emotional honesty and appealing hooks to the mix. With lyrics such as “I guess I should have known, it’s too good to be true,” the song has a deep and powerful meaning. The lyrics are very personal, and the song could be interpreted as finally realizing that you were with so-meone for a long time, only to find out that you didn’t really know who they were!
Miss Geist and Dara Zusko are a great fit on this track, and they match the style of the production. The violin parts courtesy of Dara, are also quite special, perfectly blending in with the synthesizer tones and adding more to the amazing melodies of the composition. Every-thing is lush and dreamy, with a sound that reminds me of alternative hip-hop, lo-fi, and dream-hop, but with a darker indie-pop twist to ma-ke it all  more intimate and organic.
One of the most amazing things about Mined Music’s music is the fact that his sound is extremely articulate and varied. The production is great, and all the elements are perfectly in sync, arranged in order to achieve maximum musical impact and provide the audience with an unforgettable listening experience. I Never Really Knew You is yet another amazing song from Mined Music, especially in the way the sound knows no boundaries in mixing ideas and sounds into some-thing that could be considered innovative and characterful. Not only is the release so original, but it’s also a window into Mined Music’s per-sonality, telling a story through music and giving the audience a rea-son why the should have this exciting upcoming talent on their radar. Mined Music’s music is going to be anyone’s cup, provided a love for authenticity, heart and energy in music! If these are the things you look for in an artist, you’ll find them here.
Find out more about Mined Music and do not miss out on I Never Really Knew You (feat. Miss Geist & Dara Zusko), which is now avai-lable on the best digital music streaming platforms.

Tribute to Shailendra by Jaikishan
Tribute to Shailendra after his demise by Jaikishen
That sad Wednesday afternoon, a little after he died, the radio sang :
“Aye mere dil kahin aur chal
gham ki duniya se dil bhar gaya
dhoondle ab koi ghar naya“.
It was Shailendra’s own lyric from `Daag’. He, too, had just told his weary heart : “I am full of the world’s sorrows. Let me seek a new home!”.
At the nursing home where he lay, we, his close friends, tried vainly to hold back our tears. Twenty years is a long time to know anyone, particularly in the film industry where “friendships” are made and broken easily, too easily.
Twenty years ago, we – a small group of people – had started from nothing. We had dreams, and nothing else, to sustain us. We had stood together, to the surprise and possibly dismay of many, and together we had worked out a common destiny. And today, without warning, death has laid an icy hand on one of us.
“Dhoond le ab koi ghar naya.”. He had done it.
For “Teesri Kasam” his own production, he had written :
“Sajan re jhoot mat bolo, khuda ke paas jana hai, na haathi hai na ghoda hai, vahaan paidal his jaana hai.”
True enough. We all have to go on foot. There will be no elephants to carry us, no horses, no Impalas. Poets have to go there when the call comes and ordinary men too.
But do the poets of the world, true creative artistes, really die?
Born and brought up a man of the people, Shailendra remained that all his life. His lyrics, like he himself, were simple, and had depth. And what a variety! He could dash off a frothy love lyric, he could compose a deeply philosophical poem. He wrote of sadness, gaiety, resignation, despair, hope.
“Ye poorab hai, poorab wale, har jaan ki keemat jaante hain“, he said, in the theme song of `Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai’. That was the pariot. “Awara hoon“, he sang, in a manner at once, light-hearted and serious. The song became world famous. And it was the same patriot who laughingly wrote “Mera joota hai Japani” in `Shri 420′.
When Shailendra joined our fold – at the time of Raj Kapoor was making “Barsaat” – it was with two lyrics he had ready – “Barsaat mein humse mile tum” and “Patli kamar hai“. He said goodbye to the R.K. Banner, again with two lyrics, for “Mera Naam Joker”. In between, from his work done not only for us – Shanker and myself – but for other composers, I can name scores of lovely lyrics, songs which have been on everyone’s lips.
By the way, Shailendra has written lyrics for all films for which my partner Shanker and I have composed the music with the exception of `College Girl’ and `Aarzoo’. In the latter film, he didn’t work with us because he was ill.
Shanker and I met Shailendra for the first time twenty years ago. Raj Kapoor introduced us at his office which was then at Famous Studios, Mahalaxmi. Shailendra had a job in the railway workshop at Parel. He wrote poetry in his spare time. One of his poems – “Jalta hai Punjab” – moved Raj Kapoor so much he wanted to put it in `Aag’. But Shailendra was then not keen on contributing lyrics to films. He later changed his mind and joined us for `Barsaat’.
The last time I ever saw him in good health was at Rajkamal studios about a month ago where I was doing some back-ground music recording. And you know what he was saying? Despite all the difficulties he had experienced in producing `Teesri Kasam’ he wanted to launch another film!
In the early days, Shailendra was living in a one room tenement at Parel. After `Barsaat’, my partner had been offered our first contract outside R.K. ( the film was Mr. Dalsukh Pancholi’s `Nagina’) and wanting to persuade Shailendra to write the lyrics, I visited him for the first time at his home. Like us, he was quite needy then, but his work caught on quickly and he became much sought after. His address had a few changes – from somewhere, Parel, to `Rim Jhim’, his own home at Khar, but all along the man himself never changed.
He was intelligent, very gentle, full of knowledge and very sensitive. His love of poetry and literature was paramount. Tagore was an early favourite as also Khalil Gibran. He was always nice company, whether you were discussing poetry or politics. He was very emotional and wept when something moved him. When he was composing a lyric, he would walk restlessly about the room. He loved writing on the beach. From the early days, he smoked incessantly – I wish he had been more careful.
He was young – only 43. Why did he have to go that early and with so much mental suffering?
In the music room of Shanker-Jaikishan at our homes where he was so welcome, there will be a void. There will be a bigger void in our hearts.
“Dhoond le ab koi ghar naya…”.
Goodbye, my friend.

‘Bhankas’ is the second song from ‘Baaghi 3’
It is a rehash of ‘Ek Aankh Maru Toh’ from 1984 film ‘Tohfa’
The film will release on March 6
New Delhi:
The makers of Baaghi 3 released another song Bhankas from the film. Last week,Baaghi 3‘s first song Dus Bahane 2.0 had released. The song was a rehash of the title track Dus Bahane of 2005 film Dus. Yet again, the song Bhankas is a revamp of Ek Aankh Maru Toh from 1984 film Tohfa. The original track was one of Bappi Lahiri’s hit songs. Ek Aankh Maru Toh featured Jeetendra and Sridevi dancing in the fields. The track Bhankas starts after Tiger Shroff winks at Shraddha Kapoor. The whole song is set at Riteish Deshmukh’s wedding, who also features in the film. He is getting married to Ankita Lokhande in the new song. Tiger and Shraddha can be seen grooving around together at the wedding. The song Bhankas credits Bappi Lahiri, Dev Negi, Jonita Gandhi and Tanishk Bagchi.
Check out the new track Bhankas here:
Tiger Shroff shared snippets from the time when the makers and the cast of Baaghi 3 were working on the new song with Bappi Lahiri. He tweeted a video on Tuesday saying: “A sneak peek from the gala time we had with the bling king! Thank you Bappi Lahiri for adding your golden touch to Bhankas!”

Super 30- Movie
You may call them Super 30, you may call them Shining 30, you may call them Splendid 30…all superlatives fit the group of 30 students picked up from humble economic backgrounds, most of whom are cracking the highly coveted and extremely competitive IIT-JEE entrance examination every year, courtesy the educational program with the name ‘Super 30’ in Patna, Bihar.  At the same time, all adjectives fall short to praise their mentor who has been doing this miracle year after year.
The movie Super 30 is a fictionalised biopic on Anand Kumar, a mathematics teacher and co-founder of Super 30.  Anand Kumar and Abhayanand (an IPS officer and educationalist) conceptualised Super 30 to teach underprivileged students to crack IIT-JEE.  The program was started in 2002-03 and has been continuing since then, though Abhayanand quit in 2008.  This program takes 30 intelligent students from economically underprivileged sections annually, tutors them, and provides study materials and lodging for a year without charging any fee. Since its formation, there have been four occasions when all the 30 students of Super 30 cracked the JEE (Advanced).
The movie recounts the extraordinary journey of a man who fights (and conquers) all odds- financial worries, jibes, threats of all kind including on life from education mafia- to illuminate the lives of several talented boys and girls who might otherwise have found it next to impossible to compete with their well off counterparts.
Anand Kumar, who himself was an extremely talented student, had secured admission to the prestigious Cambridge University but could not join because of his father’s death and financial constraints.  At one point of time, their financial condition had worsened to a stage where he had to sell papads to be able to run the family.  This share of personal disappointments and difficulties in the life of Anand Kumar must have had a bearing on the formation of Super 30.
The experiment of Super 30 is a revolution of its own kind and a tight slap  on the face of those who have reduced education to a money minting business, where the best of it is available only to those who can pay for it in equal measure.   Thus, Kumar proved this feudal mindset wrong that राजा का बेटा ही राजा बनेगा with the emphatic declaration that राजा वही बनेगा जो हक़दार होगा.
Hrithik Roshan in the lead role of Anand Kumar does a superb job and proves his calibre once again.  Though his Bihari accent does not sound as natural as it should, he compensates for it with his appearance, mannerisms and of course great acting.  In fact, his looks had to be deglamorized in order to suit the role.  The other prominent actors in the movie- Pankaj Tripathi and Aditya Srivastava are equally good, as is the lead actress Mrunal Thakur.    The 30 actors/actresses chosen for portraying the first batch of Super 30 students are very realistic in their acting and appearances.  One pleasant casting is that of Sadhna Singh of the ‘Nadiya Ke Paar’ fame in the role of Anand Kumar’s mother.
The songs in the movie are average and may not remain in memory for long. The first half of the movie is much stronger than the second half.  The script of the second half is a bit more dramatised than required with all of that typical Bollywood stuff.  This could have been avoided so that the movie remains as close to the reality as possible to retain its flavour as a biopic. Nevertheless, there are several emotional moments in the movie which leave you teary-eyed.
While watching the movie a thought crossed my mind that the highest award that we confer on the games & sports coaches in India is the Dronacharya Award, which is named after the guru who had asked Ekalavya for his right thumb as his dakshina (and got it too) despite the fact that he had refused to accept him as his disciple for archery due to his lineage. He did this so that Arjuna, his favourite disciple belonging to the royal family, becomes the greatest archer in the world.  It is time we do some course correction and honour the real gurus like Anand Kumar who embrace Ekalavyas and turn them into warrior princes.  The good thing is that it has already started as Super 30 is fast gaining recognition, nationally as well as internationally, and winning several global awards. The making of a movie on it is another proof of this.
I will give this movie a rating of 3.5 star, with a bonus of 0.5 star for the topic.
I will wrap up with the following dialogue by Hrithik Roshan before the students which sums up the intent of the movie:
ये अमीर लोग अपने लिए ख़ूब चिकना सड़क बनाए… हमारी राह में ऐसा बड़ा-बड़ा गड्ढा खोद दिए …लेकिन यही वो सबसे बड़ी ग़लती कर दिए… हमको छलाँग लगाना सिखा दिए… जब समय आएगा सबसे बड़ा और सबसे लम्बा छलाँग हम ही मारेंगे ।।

Son Doong, Vietnam: World’s biggest cave is even bigger than we thought
(CNN) — Thanks to discoveries made during a recent expedition in Vietnam, it appears the world’s largest cave, Son Doong, is even bigger than previously thought.
Last month, a trio of British divers — the same divers who aided in the rescue of the trapped soccer team in Thailand in 2018 — ventured to Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, in the jungle-filled Quang Binh Province of central Vietnam, to explore the cave’s waterways.
During the groundbreaking dive, they discovered a new underwater tunnel that connects Son Doong (meaning “Mountain River Cave”) with another enormous cave called Hang Thung.
Son Doong currently measures a total of 38.5 million cubic meters (about 1.35 billion cubic feet). When it’s officially connected with Thung Cave, it will add an additional 1.6 million cubic meters in volume.
“It would be like someone found a lump on top of Mount Everest, making it another 1,000 meters higher,” says Howard Limbert, technical advisor of the Quang Binh-based Oxalis adventure tour company and one of the cave experts who helped organize the dive. He tells CNN Travel, “Any cave in the world will be able to fit comfortably inside Song Dong when it’s connected — it’s just outrageous in size.”
Diving in Son Doong

British divers Jason Mallinson, Rick Stanton and Chris Jewell — who helped rescue the trapped soccer team in Thailand in 2018 — recently dived in Vietnam’s Son Doon Cave.
courtesy Oxalis Adventure
Oxalis, which is the only company licensed to bring travelers into Son Doong Cave, invited the British divers — Jason Mallinson, Rick Stanton and Chris Jewell — to visit the cave following the Thai rescue expedition.
“The divers did an amazing job rescuing the children in Thailand. We invited them on a trip to Son Doong to thank them for their great effort,” says Limbert.
“They wanted to do something interesting during the trip, so we came up with this idea of diving Son Doong, which had never been done before.”
Limbert says that the Oxalis team already knew that the water from Son Doong joined Thung Cave, through dye-testing, but no human has ever gone into these subterranean rivers.
During the mission, divers were able to reach a depth of about 78 meters while diving on air (oxygen and nitrogen) before turning around.
“When the divers reached 78 meters, they plumbed the depth below using a line and a lead weight. Hence, they believe the offshoot reaches a depth of 120 meters and continues for about 1 kilometer,” explains Limbert.
The team wasn’t expecting the tunnels to be so deep, because the other caves in the area are quite shallow.
“Now that we know how deep it is, we’ll bring the special gases [oxygen-helium mixture] with us next time to enable long, deep dives,” adds Limbert.
The divers plan to return in April again next year. This is the best time of year to dive, because water levels are relatively low, and visibility is better than usual — though still only about one to two meters.
“I think it’s incredible that something as important as the world’s largest cave is still being explored and better understood,” says Limbert.
“No one had ever set foot inside Son Doong until 2009 … and this latest discovery shows there are still an awful lot of things to uncover on this planet. It’s really exciting.”
Uncovering the cave
One of the world’s most precious natural wonders, Son Doong was inadvertently discovered by Vietnam resident Ho Khanh in 1990.
“While hunting in the jungle, Khanh came across the opening. He felt a blast of wind and heard the rush of a river inside… But after he left, he couldn’t find it again, because it’s surrounded by foliage,” says Limbert, who was part of the British Cave Research Association (BCRA) team that first set foot inside Son Doong.
“Khanh spent many, many years trying to rediscover the mouth of this cave and, finally, in 2009, he led us there. We realized right away that it was major.”
After the BCRA explored and measured the cave, they proclaimed it the largest in the world in 2010 — so big that you could fit a New York City block with 40-story skyscrapers inside it, according to Oxalis’s estimations.
Within the immense limestone cavern, there are various microclimates and diverse scenery including two jungles, made possible by dolines — openings created by collapsed ceilings — where sunlight streams in.
“So far we’ve only explored about 30% of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, so there’s a lot more to be discovered,” says Limbert.
See it for yourself
Hang Son Doong in Vietnam is the largest known cave in the world. Photographer Ryan Deboodt took a drone inside to capture this spectacular footage.
Opened to tourists in 2013, the three-million-year-old river cave is easily one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
“People love it because they’ve never done anything like it before,” says Limbert. “Obviously, you have amazing stalactites and the world’s largest stalagmites (up to 80 meters high). They are so spectacular.”
To explore, travelers must book a guided excursion through Oxalis.
From river crossings to jungle treks and a harnessed ascent up the 80-meter-high “Great Wall of Vietnam” to nightly campsites, the four-day experience traverses 25 kilometers (about 15.5 miles) of jungle trails and nine kilometers inside the caves.
“This is definitely not just a stroll. There are lots of river crossings, superb jungles, mountains and cliffs all around, plus lots of wildlife … like birds and monkeys that are endemic to this area,” says Limbert. “A lot of people find the scenery as spectacular as the cave itself.”
It’s certainly physically challenging, but Limbert says the trek is accessible to anyone who is reasonably fit and doesn’t mind getting muddy. And you will get muddy.

The first 1.5 days are spent trekking through Hang En Cave — the third-largest cave in the world — to reach ultra-remote Son Doong. The next few days are spent exploring the otherworldly landscapes of this remarkable cave, sleeping at a different campsite each night.
Among the many highlights of the trip, Limbert says there’s one experience in particular that everyone goes “wild about.”
“There’s a passage that has beautiful, 400-million-year-old fossils. We take travelers to see these fossils and, once you’re down there in the dark, there’s a place where you can go swimming,” says Limbert.
“Everyone loves the experience of swimming in the dark in the cave — it’s a really unusual experience.”
Available from January to August, the US$2,990 tours are limited to just 10 people at a time, with a maximum of 1,000 travelers each year. Accompanying each group is a 27-person strong support team, including porters, cooks, safety assistance, BCRA-trained guides and caving experts.
“At this point, more people have climbed Mount Everest than have gone into Son Doong,” says Limbert. “And even those who have summited Everest say that exploring Son Doong is outrageous — that it’s the best place they’ve ever been in their life.”

the universe loved fucking with Mahi;
Mahi’s tragedy told through series of scenes. Mahi x Gauri.
i.
“Mahi bhai! Ye hai wo meri sister jiske bare mein aapko bataya tha..”
Dandi, with his never faltering smile, stood in front of him one bright afternoon with a girl standing behind him. The first thing he noticed about her was that she had ridiculously long hair which would prove such a hassle to deal with in the scorching Mumbai heat. The other thing he noticed was the way her face shone in wonder as she looked around at the rather pitiable conditions of Good Luck Chawl.
Yeah, definitely an outsider.
“Wo sab toh theek hai per paise time pe degi ya nahin?”
There was a lot riding on this tiny con he was running. And if this “sister” of Dandi turned out to be yet another freeloader, he would surely lost his already paper thin temper and end up hitting a girl. She did look like one smack would be enough to knock her out.
“Ae! Bola than na ke do teen din mein paise de denge!”
The reply came from the girl. All the innocent wonder from her face vanished as she frowned and eyed him bitterly.
“Toh kya tera kaha pathar ki lakeer hai jo tune bola aur maine maan liya?”
“Oye! Pathar ki lakeer se bhi badh kar hai! Commitment ki hai! Aur ek baar jo hum ne commitment kardi toh phir hum apne aap ki bhi nahin sunte!”
He felt his eyebrows rise up as she shrugged and mumbled something to herself and resumed her previous activity of looking around the chawl with curious wonder. Dandi stepped closer and blocked the Salman Khan quoting girl from his view and assured him that all would be well as the payment will be done as soon as she got some money so could he please just show the girl where she’d be staying? Mahi just nodded without listening to anything as he thought for the first time maybe planning to make profit off this strange girl was a mistake.
ii.
The girl, Gauri, was an annoyingly friendly creature. It was imperative for his plan to work that this girl didn’t mingle with the chawl people. But it seemed like the girl couldn’t digest food if she didn’t hang out with at least 10 different people at each meal time.
Mahi saw people fall for her charms everywhere she went. He saw her play with the loud kids as well as give company to the demented elderly with equal ease and graciousness. It lowkey baffled him how the people who never missed a chance to taunt him for his “unacceptable” origins were always so sweet to this girl who literally had nothing but a tiny bag with three sets of clothes in the name of possessions.
Though if he was being honest, the real reason why her happy presence in the chawl pricked her was because she never extended her courtesy to him. After paying him for the rent of the room within a week of her shifting there, she didn’t pay any attention to him. It shouldn’t matter to him, really. He got successful in his plan and made money by doing virtually nothing except renting one locked down room of the chawl at thrice the price it was worth to a desperate girl who needed a safe place to say in this big bad city. As long as he kept getting his money, he really shouldn’t be bothered about how she went on living her life.
Except he did and it fucked him up every night before he went to sleep.
iii.
It was a surprise, but not a big one, but they bonded over Salman Khan.
More specifically, their first civil encounter was them dancing along to “Pandey Ji Maare Seeti” at the opposite ends of the chawl ground. Some hooligan had played the song loudly enough to burst eardrums and while the easily angered crowd cursed the boy and demanded that he shut the damn thing down as it was the middle of the day and it was no proper time to blast such annoying music, Mahi had just laughed and enthusiastically danced to it under the shade of the tree where he was standing. Within thirty seconds he noticed Gauri doing the same near the water pump, her steps even more enthusiastic.
When their eyes met, they laughed and continued the dance even when the music died down.
iv.
“Salman toh apna bhai hai!”
“Haye! Wo toh hamara pyaar hai!”
“Apun buss…EK baar Bhai ko touch karna chahte hain..”
“Humse toh wo KHUD milne ayenge, dekh lena!”
“Kyun? Wo tere Mame ka beta hai?”
“AE! Ek jhaap mein deewar pe satt jai be jo hamare Salman ke baare mein kuch aisa waise bola! Wo humse milne ayenge aur ye hamara vishwas hai!”
“O Madam, ye Mumbai hai. Yahan vishwas se kuch nahin milta!”
“Kyun? Hamare vishwas se humein iss ITNEEE bade, ajnabi sheher mein itna acha ghar mil gaya, khayal karne ko bhai mil gaya, baat karne ko dost mil gaya…aur tum kehte ho vishwas se kuch nahin milta?”
Mahi didn’t reply. Hearing the word “dost” for himself made his heart skip a beat and he had no idea why.
v.
Mahi’s favorite food became the small portion of whatever Gauri cooked for herself that she saved for him.
vi.
One day he walked in Gauri’s room like house unannounced and found her standing in front of the old mirror, her hand in mid air next to her forehead. It wasn’t the sight of the red on her fingers which made him freeze, it was the completely lost expression of her face that first made his blood turn cold before raising within him an inferno that demanded he break the very reason for that expression into little pieces and throw them to the pits of the hell.
When she noticed his reflection behind hers in the mirror, she put her hand down and turned her face to look at him and smiled as a drop of water escaped her eye and rolled down her cheek.
“Kabhi kabhi sochte hain hum…hamara Shankar Ji ne bhi kaisi dulhan bana diya humein. Lagane ko sindoor toh hai per pehenne ko mangalsutra nahin.”
She chuckled and wiped the tears from her eyes though the lost expression remained there.
“Mahi..sab bhool gaye hain. Kahan kahan pathar laga tha, kahan kahan se khoon nikla tha, kitne zakham mile the..sab bhool gaye. Nahin bhoolte toh wo phere aur wo khoon jis se unhon mein meri maang bhari thi…”
It was the first time he had heard her voice quiver. He willed his frozen body to move and came to her. Holding her by the arms, he looked down at her face where those tears, those goddamn tears, still threatened to spill with an uncontrollable flow.
The sight was too much for his sanity to bear.
And that was the reason he gave himself as he put his arms around her and buried her face in his chest. All her sobs got absorbed in his hug.
vii.
She looked at him questioningly when he gave her half of the month’s rent back.
“Iss pinjre jaise kamre ka bhaadha itna nahin hai. Main bad hoon, very bad nahin. Ab mann nahin maanta ke tujhse ye dhoka karoon toh ye le, rakh le. Itni mehnat karti hai tu…ab kam kiya kar.”
His heart hammered in his chest as he said his little speech that he had stayed up all night practicing. He thought she would hit him and curse him and vow to never see his face again so he closed his eyes and braced himself for all of it.
“Tum ne ye Maa ko khush karne ke liye kiya tha na?”
None of the potential scenarios he had envisioned had her saying that. Quickly opening his eyes, he saw her smiling at her.
“Humein pehle din hi pata chal gaya tha ke tum humse double bhaadha lete ho. Issi liye toh tumse zyada baat nahin karte the. Lekin jab ye pata chala ke iss paise ki wajah se tumhari Maa ko khushi milti hai…toh tumse kuch nahin kiya. Maa ke liye kiya na…”
If there was any doubt that he had fallen for this girl, it got cleared in that second when she shook her head and turned to go do another one of her numerous odd jobs.
“Ruk!”
Holding her hand, he stopped her from going.
“Kaa hua?”
“Maine tereko dhoka diya..aur tune maaf kar diya?”
“Muft mein nahin kiya. Agle mahine se asli bhaadhaa denge. Aur tum mujhe apne kamaye hue paison se pani poori khilaoge. Iss qeemat pe maaf kiya hai!”
She twitched her nose and pulled her hand from his grip but he only held on tighter. The mirth vanished from her face as he stood there looking at her but didn’t say anything.
“Mahi…haath chorh.”
Without taking his eyes off her, he let go of her hand. His eyes didn’t stop following her till she walked away from there. Turning his eyes away from the spot where she had turned and disappeared to, he looked at his hand with which he had held hers and clenched it in a fist, wanting to keep that tingling sensation on it locked forever.
If that last expression on her face held any ounce of truth to it, he was sure she knew just what his feelings for her were.
viii.
Being an honest man was a tough thing to do but he was trying it just for her. The girl deserved honesty and he would give it to her. There wasn’t a lot he knew about her background but she had dropped enough hints for him to realize that all her life she had been victimized because of dishonest people. So, he made a promise to himself to become the best, honest version of himself and hand her all happiness that life had denied her.
She was no damsel in distress but he dreamed of being her knight in shining armor.
ix.
They never directly addressed their feelings for each other. On his side, he was darn sure that he was irrevocably in love with her. But he never told her that. He didn’t feel like it was necessary for him to say anything. It had been months since she walked in the chawl but he didn’t remember the years he had spent there when she hadn’t been there. And he didn’t want to know the years that were to come if she wasn’t in them beside him. The world was still unfair to him, his demons still lurked near him waiting for a chance to strike; but ever since she had come in his life, it had become tolerable to live. Breathing didn’t feel like a chore anymore, it was something he looked forward to.
Right now he was gathering the courage to wipe the hint of red color from her scalp and with it all of the memories of the past. He wanted to start his life afresh and he knew that she did too. He had begun to dream of a simple life with her, where they both worked and watched Salman Khan movies and talked for hours and hours before drifting off to sleep in each others’ arms. The very thought of holding her without any fear and restriction brought a smile to his face. After that one time when he had hugged her, he always controlled himself around her. He rarely touched her; always savoring the after sensations of the touch for days whenever he did touch her. Mahi had vowed to himself that the next time his skin would touch hers; it would be to remove the color which meant really meant nothing. Because he just knew that it was him who was meant to really put the proper sindoor in her scalp and tie a mangalsutra around her neck.
He just knew that it was something she was waiting for him to do.
He just knew that she was waiting for him.
He just knew it.
He just..
x.
Fucking Oberois. Always fucking with his life. Those goddamn Oberois who ruined everything! First his identity and now his life?! Why was EVERYTHING that was rightfully HIS snatched away from him by the GODDAMN MOTHERFUCKING OBEROIS?!??!
xi.
It happened unannounced. One second they were happily eating golas. He had just excused himself for one minute, that one godforsaken minute when his entire universe turned upside down.
He saw a big, expensive car screech to a halt near the cart. He saw the man step down from the car and walk to Gauri. He saw the way Gauri froze and unfroze when he held her hand. He saw the way the gola fell from her hand as the man brought his other hand to her face and wipe something away from her face.
Tears.
He was wiping tears.
He.
Omkara Singh Oberoi.
Unlike Mahi, he didn’t hold back his touches. He held her face with both his hands and kissed her forehead, holding her shaking body and murmuring something softly to her. He did it all without any hesitation. And just like that, he made her sit in the car and they rode off to the sunset in an expensive, black car like a fucking cliché.
And Mahi just stood there.
xii.
“Hum ne kaha tha naa…vishwas ho toh sab mil jaata hai.”
She texted him one night and he almost smashed the phone like everything else in his room but the ding of new message stopped him.
“Unhen paaya.. Tumhe khoyaa.. Poori zindagi guzar jaegi Iss saude ka naffa nuqsaan pata karne mein.”
xiii.
The universe loved fucking with Mahi.

Tributes to #ShakeelBadayuni, one of the greatest lyricists and poets of Hindi cinema, on his 47th death anniversary.
Geetkar-e-Azam' was born at Badayun in UP in 1916. Sensing his fascination for Sher-o-shayari at an early age, his father arranged for his training in Arabic, Persian, Urdu & Hindi. In times when most poets were writing about social issues, political turmoil and national consciousness, Shakeel was more love and romanticism. He wrote - "“ मै शकील दिल का हूं तर्जुमान, कह मोहबतों का हूं राजदान, मूझे फ़क्र है मेरी शायरी, मेरी झिंदगी से जुदा नहीं! ”
He moved to Bombay in 1944 and was given a break by Naushad with Dard in 1947. All the songs he wrote for 'Dard' were an instant hit; especially the song 'Afasan Likh Rahi Hun' sung by Uma Devi (Tun Tun). It was with Naushad that he came into his own giving masterpieces one after another.
He worked in over 25 films with Naushad, most of which were musical blockbusters. Mela, Dard, Dastan, Amar, Deedar, Dillagi, Uran Khatola, Leader, Dil Diya Dard Liya, Mughal e Azam, Kohinoor, Ram Aur Shyam, Aadmi. However the most important onewas their earliest combo; the artistic musical milestone like Baiju Bawra (1952) with its stunning combination of folk and ragdari in 'Tu Ganga Ki Mauj', 'O Duniya Ke Rakhwale', 'Man Tadpat Hari Darshan Ko Aaj', 'Mohe Bhool Gaye Saawariya' and the duet between two classical stalwarts, Pt. D.V. Paluskar and Ustad Amir Khan - 'Aaj Gaawat Man Mero''. Besides this they gave numerous timeless classics and chartbusters songs like 'Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya' (Mughal-E-Azam), 'Madhuban Mein Radhika Naache Re' (Kohinoor), 'Gaaye Jaa Geet Milan Ke' (Mela), 'O Door Ke Musafir' (Uran Khatola), 'Nain Lad Jaihe' (Ganga Jumna), 'Saawan Aaye Ya Na Aaye' (Dil Diya Dard Liya), 'Aaj Mere Man Mein Sakhi' (Aan), 'Mere Mehboob Tujhe' (Mere Mehboob) and 'Mere Pairon Mein Ghunghroo' from their last film together, 'Sungharsh' Besides Naushad he also created some masterpieces with other music directors and gave us films with Ravi like 'Gharana, Ghungat, Grahasti, Phool Aur Patthar, Do Badan and again that immortal song 'Chudhavika Chand Ho' His all time melodies with Hemant Kumar of 'Bees Saal Baad', 'Sahin Biwi Aur Ghulam' & 'Bin Badal Barsaat'? Or with S D Burman in 'Kaise Kahoon' & 'Benazir' or C.Ramachandra with 'Zindagi Aur Maut', 'Wahan Ke Log' or with Roshan in 'Bedaag',& 'Noorjahan There is so much that can be written about him, but words will not suffice. At last all we can say is
“ये झिंदगी के मेले, दुनिया में कम ना होंगे....अफसोस हम न होंगे"

BOCA GIRL KENDRA ERIKA TO ROCK FT. LAUDERDALE
Tumblr media
By Kevin Cranston | Photos courtesy of Kendra Erika. Provided by Project Publicity, Inc.
Tumblr media
“I might be from Boca, but my music is really inspired by Miami," says Kendra Erika. Her latest dance single, "Under My Skin," co-written with Grammy Award winning producer Damon Sharpe, is currently No. 12 on the Billboard Club chart.  She'll perform it live August 19 at The Manor in Fort Lauderdale.
"What I love about house is that it offers a full experience for all the senses to enjoy," she continues. "I want my music to take people on an elevating, emotional journey. It can be happy or sad, as long as it's positive and affirming."
She steers clear from anything that is hyper sexualized or self-degrading. "I'm not interested in providing a distraction that is disguised as an escape."
"Under My Skin" is the follow-up to "Oasis", Kendra Erika's previous hit that reached No. 9 on the Billboard Dance Charts in March. It's a playful song with a 'let's see if we get caught' theme that it borrows from the Cole Porter song made popular by Frank Sinatra, "I've Got You Under My Skin."
"When we were writing it, I was thinking how the youth of today are not much different from those of 75 years ago, when the original was written," Kendra explains. "We still feel invincible when it comes to love and life and if you think about it, there's beauty in the fact that we're still discovering who we are and where we stand. Everyone can relate because we're all young and stupid at some point in our lives."
We spoke with Kendra Erika from her Boca Raton home.
Kevin Cranston: Are you a Miami party girl? Kendra Erika: I love a good dance club every now and then but usually, when I'm home, I prefer Miami's lounge clubs. They're more intimate.
KC: Would you say Miami's nightlife has changed in the last few years?   KE: Like every major city, Miami has gone through its own evolution. Still, Miami is and always has been the place to escape and have your body transported by a good dance beat. Where New York and Los Angeles are more about culture and creativity, Miami has got more of a vacation vibe.
Tumblr media
KC: As a local girl, do you venture to Fort Lauderdale?   KE: Sure, I'll go to places like Vibe and Stache, but you know, something I've noticed is that Fort Lauderdale is gradually becoming more of a restaurant/cocktail/craft scene. I mean, there is still some good nightlife, but the food, drink and dining is where it's at.
KC: Will this be your first time performing Fort Lauderdale? KE: I sang the National Anthem for a fighting event once and I remember looking around, saying to myself, I would love to perform my dance tracks here one day. It's funny how life works like that. I'm excited to perform at The Manor!
KC: The Manor is a bi-level space with chandeliers and a huge dance floor… kinda similar to the Miami clubs of yesteryear.   KE: I've been performing a lot of mega clubs lately and I love them because the crowds let off this tidal wave of energy that is just so infectious and adds so much to the show.
KC: With it's sweeping build-ups and hard drops, "Under My Skin" seems made for the big room.   KE: I agree!  When Damon (Sharpe) and I were in the studio, we knew we wanted to produce another strong dance track like "Oasis."  But while "Oasis" is a more poolside, big lounge sound, we were looking for something bigger for this track.
KC: What inspired "Under My Skin"? KE: The way we usually write songs is by going through whatever potential melodies we have.  After that, we start laying down all lyrics that come to mind. With "Under My Skin," Damon had the idea for a summer wind concept, which reminded me of Sinatra. I liked it, but in my mind, the whole summer wind concept hit too close to home with "Oasis." I suggested we consider another Sinatra song, "I've Got You Under My Skin," as inspiration. That's how "Under My Skin" was born!
KC: Mixin Marc, best known his work with The Chainsmokers, Demi Lovato and Katy Perry, remixed "Under My Skin." Will you be performing his version at Manor? KE: I might! I'm not sure yet. Mixin Marc has been so supportive of my career and all of his mixes, especially the one for "Under My Skin," hold such allure and zeal. I really want to make this performance one that people remember. Strong dance moves and lyrical interaction always carry my shows. I also prefer that the stage not be some hierarchal obstacle. I try to welcome the crowd into the experience.
KC: Are your shows as cinematic as your music videos? KE: For me, I really want the music and message to be the focus. I saw Lana Del Rey perform in West Palm Beach recently and it was the music that brought people to tears and to emotional reflection. She did not have one outfit change the entire time, which I found to be amazing. But, she's a very poetic and cinematic writer, and she doesn't need to have the glittering bells and whistles carrying her. The same goes for Ellie Goulding. Although Ellie did have dancers, and some on screen visuals at her show, she didn't let the material matter overtake her message. She was also very humble and interacted with the audience like we were all hanging out and enjoying the moment. There was nothing idol-like in what she portrayed on stage.
KC: Is that how you hope to connect with your fans? KE: Yes. When an artist stays authentic to his or her journey and message, they can create something people enjoy. True artists don't need to sell out to make people like them. Being yourself these days is a brave thing to do, and I truly respect artists that achieve it. That's what I hope to bring to my show.
Kendra Erika's "Under My Skin" is being released globally through Dauman Music and Sony Red and is available now on iTunes, Amazon, and all other major retailers. It is also available for streaming through Pandora and Spotify. To learn more about Kendra Erika, visit daumanmusic.com and kendraerika.com.
