Veganism is not about animal welfare, it is about abolishing animal exploitation. We understand that there are other ways to go about changing the animal agriculture industry, but that is not what we are advocating for. vegans do focus on advocating for people to stop using animal products, because we believe that it is wrong to use animal products. That is the core of the movement. Veganism is a lifestyle and ethical position that seeks to exclude the use of animal products as much as is practicable and possible. As it is an ethical position, this stance is bound to be relevant to the activism peopel engage in. So yes, unfortunately the anticapitalists who are also vegan do believe that your use of animal products is immoral, because as long as you have the ability not to use it, then you are needlessly harming sentient beings because of your taste preferences and lifestyle preferences. Op is making an excellent point about anitcapitalism being at the base of veganism, but dont be mistaken. Animal rights is still the focus of veganism, not animal welfare.

a lot of the rhetoric & the implications of capitalist, consumerist veganism are racist & misogynistic… a lot of the rhetoric & the real-life impacts of factory farming & meat-centred culture are… hm….. racist & misogynistic….. it’s almost like racism & misogyny are inherent to capitalism & to the current social order & are not exclusive or inherent to any particular diet, lifestyle, or group
