i had no idea people didn't like Cassie! My friends and i read the books in the early 2000s without engaging w the wider fandom at all, and Tobias was the most popular among us but we liked Cassie just fine-- she's nice, balanced out the team
Yeah, luckily we're seeing things change, but the early 2000s fandom haaaaated Cassie and the 2020s Reddit fandom unfortunately isn't that much better. I feel like I'm the rare fan who is exactly as Scholastic predicted — less interested in Tobias and Ax than in the human characters. Like, to be clear, I 100% want them to have had exactly as many books as the other four, and I love them both dearly. I just find them like 5% less interesting than Cassie and Jake/Marco/Rachel.

I spent five years of my life reading Animorphs as it was released only for it to end on a cliffhanger. You cannot frighten me with threats of delays and/or cancellations.
"Your show might be delayed by the wga strikes!"
I watched Sherlock, mate. We waited three years for the 3 worst episodes you've ever seen. This is nothing

I’ve never read Animorphs sequentially, but I might have to try now that you mention it.
reading animorphs sequentially instead of in whatever random order you can get your hands on them is such a trip because you can see these kids getting progressively better at war and worse at being happy, you can see how traumatic events from one book echo into the next ones but never quite get dealt with because these kids have no real way to take care of their mental health, you can see their relationships deepening but simultaneously gaining friction and faultlines as they learn just how far they'd go for each other but also how far they'd go in general...
obviously this series was meant to be episodic in nature, and i actually think that might be the better way to first encounter it, but the arc of the series in publication order is extremely well-crafted

I helped develop a fan made, unlicensed, Animorphs table top role playing game. It's in its beta test version and comments and reviews are welcome!

Every time we go to the mall in our town (which is not very often), I treat myself to Cinnabon. And every time I sink my teeth into that classic gooey Cinnabon deliciousness, I think of Aximili-Esgarrouth-Isthill. And I smile.

In case they haven’t been mentioned on this blog, I’d like to give a shoutout to Animorphs Aloud! It’s a currently still updating fan production reading through Animorphs, and they release a new chapter every few days. The narrator of it is so good at doing distinct and emotional performances for each of the cast, and I’d def recommend it for anyone that wants to reexperience Animorphs!!!
Thank you for the rec — I hadn't heard of this one! I love the fan production of the Megamorphs 1 audiobook, so I have high hopes for Animorphs Aloud being just as good.

I don't think we ever saw this, but it would have been funny to see one of them break their arm doing something mundane for example, and then fix it by morphing.

I also recommend @sarifel-corrisafid-ilxhel, @zarohk, @forlay, @nice-is-neat, @thaylepo, @tomberensonsghost, @ellimisms, @andalite-angel, @andalitean,  and @c-rowlesdraws for quality Animorphs content!
hi there! you post a lot about animorphs and i personally did not have the opportunity to get into it all as a kid. do you perhaps have a recommended reading order? a favourite book? a beloved, accessible fanwork? i would like to be able to see what it's all about, and you seem to be the most accessible-to-me online authority on the subject :)
i'd suggest you just read the first 21 books straight through, then check your brain to see how fucked up you are. after that, freestyle based on Vibes.
but also you should read the ellimist chronicles and the hork-bajir chronicles right away because they're really fun* semi-standalone stories about aliens doing alien things and getting in alien trouble.
*they will hurt you :)

do you. do you think andalites evolved to never get a stuffy nose or are allergies like, twice as lethal sgdjs
there's a theory i've read (i'm not sure if it's a theory or if it's propped up by something i've glossed over in the books, and i'm not sure whose theory it is so i dont know who to tag) that's like... andalites wiped out a large percentage of the wildlife on their planet out of fear, as prey animals, and that's why they're stuck with like 1 bird and 3 other creatures on their planet. so i'd think they've also wiped out a lot of external-influence disease on their homeworld? they're really good at meddling with stuff, and they notoriously HATE when somebody is "weak" or incapacitated in any way on account of the raging ableism.
i think if an andalite were allergic to pollen it would probably be a foreign contaminant from whatever planet they're visiting. it would be really funny if ax were allergic to ragweed pollen, or if aldrea were allergic to the foliage on the hork-bajir homeworld, and i think if they were it would be Very severe/hard to deal with.
also technically with morphing tech (as we see from rachel) you can be allergic to the dna of a creature, so surely this has happened to a few andalites before, esp. since there's an andalite word for "vomiting up the creature that ails you" (or maybe hereth illint just means "to vomit when you've got no mouth" and it's used in context of rachel's situation because that's the only word they have to describe it)
