Simplified design, singular character, could be on snowy hill path facing forward Simple parallax background slowly panning up with a minimal foreground. 15-16 seconds

RepairFrame: Warframe fishing for parts to help a vent kid with replacing a part that got messed up in a run, flashing back to catching them with other vent kids to stop her from falling off a cliff with a MOA clipped to her. Minimum 3 characters(WF VK MOA) simplified snow background, simplified vent kids chute, simplified cave fishing spot. Can attempt a motion comic style with minimal movement. Might be too complicated/extended storyline for a short, might make minute max. Try boarding it.

encanto is really pretty and colorful and the animation is fluid and it's nice and important to have a story take place in latin america with an accurate spectrum of not-white skin colors, and the music is catchy and uses a lot of syncopations and chord progressions and styles not typically found in disney musicals, and the character design is varied & attention grabbing. it's audio/visually very appealing.

but only at face value.

wow is every single mechanic as a film just godawful. the plot is tired and overdone (at least its "Twist Villain" is the exact opposite). the pacing is weird and all over the place. the visual storytelling is completely absent and replaced with ooohhh shiny colors everywhere. it continues the rather disturbing trend of the 3D disney animated films normalizing having a (typically female) head of the household be borderline* abusive to their kids and facing zero consequences for it other than a) dying horribly or b) turning into a bear temporarily.

*destroying your child's property is abusive especially when it's for stupid bullshit reasons so yeah only soul and rayya don't have any abusive parents as far as disney's 3D films go :/

frankly, non-mexican latine people deserve better films than just fluff and popcorn and a library of songs that don't really go all that well together in the first place. it's not really my place to get mad about it so I'm not going to but it just sucks that the first big one is just a mediocre romp that focuses on "I wish I had magic so I could be special so my family will love me, oh no all my magical family members have anxiety over not being special enough for the family to love them, oh no some of my family was literally kicked out of the family for dumb bullshit reasons, hey grandma you made all of your kids and grandkids nervous fuckin wrecks because you passed down your trauma and made them self conscious about how their magic can benefit your mercantilic society oof" as if rudolph the red nosed reindeer memes didn't already tell that trope better in one line. but you know. I'm not mad. just disappointed that disney settles for mediocre but profitable every single time nowadays.
