SIGN: Urge NY to Pass 'Peanut's Law' to Protect Sanctuary Animals From Being Seized & Killed

If enacted, Peanut’s Law: The Humane Animal Protection Act could provide animal caretakers at sanctuaries at least 72 hours to exercise emergency appeal rights — and possibly save their animal’s life. It could also ensure that a board of experts review cases within 48 hours. This proposed legislation could be a lifeline for future animals.

A baby Pallas cat was born in the Helsinki Zoo, look at this tiny baby who bleps!

The Korkeasaari Zoo celebrated the birth of its first pallas cat and they gave the news on 10 august 2023 but the kitten in the photo is already 2 months old and she is healthy.

While the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) categorizes the Pallas cat as a species of "least concern," their numbers in the wild have been declining. These cats inhabit the vast and harsh grasslands and mountain steppes of Central Asia. Manuls are part of European zoos' conservation programs aimed at safeguarding their future. Korkeasaari Zoo contributes to the protection of wild manuls during this year's "Night of the Cats."

🌟 Cross-State Adoption Journey: Izzy & Cali 🌟

Hello, animal sanctuary friends and adoption advocates! 🐾 We’re so excited to share the story of two incredible dogs, Izzy and Cali, whom we’re helping through a cross-state adoption assistance program. Although we haven’t met them in person, we’ve been learning all about their personalities and can’t wait to help them find their way to loving homes.

Meet Izzy – Izzy is described as a bundle of energy and curiosity! Her rescuers say she’s quick to explore and always has a happy, playful demeanor that lights up the room. We can’t wait to see how her bright spirit will bring joy to her future family.

And here’s Cali – Cali is the calm, steady companion we all dream of. Her caretakers say she has an intuitive, gentle nature and loves nothing more than a good snuggle. She’s the kind of dog who’ll bring warmth and comfort wherever she goes.

Helping Izzy and Cali across state lines has been a beautiful experience, connecting us with new rescue partners and widening the network of families who want to welcome these amazing dogs. We’re so excited to continue following their journey and are grateful for everyone involved in making their transition possible. 💕

Couple of fun updates: Ezran, the groundhog with horrifyingly overgrown incisors is now a chunky lil teddy bear shaped thing. His incisors were removed back in October and the post-surgical healing went well. Since then he has put on some muscle and chub, learned how to navigate the bedroom well, and ingratiated with the other groundhogs very well despite not being brain damaged that we know of. He's also neutered because we don't need a pile of unreleasable disabled baby groundhogs. Second pic is Fiona who was brought to us from Tennessee where she was found with her entire lower leg ripped off. (Presumably a predator got her through a fence.) She now has great tripod mobility and a number of friends in the big sanctuary rabbit group. She plays, lounges, chases, and eats as she pleases. After two years of offering dog-sitting services, we’ve officially opened our sanctuary with a mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and provide forever homes for dogs facing challenges like abandonment, neglect, or medical issues. 🐕💕 Whether they stay with us or find their perfect family, every dog receives the care, love, and respect they deserve.

Supporting veterans and active-duty service members is close to our hearts, as I come from a military family. My stepfather, aunt, uncle, and grandfather all served in the military, and we are proud to continue that spirit of service through the sanctuary. 🎖️🐾 If a veteran or service member is unable to care for their pet—whether they’re deploying or facing an emergency—we’re here to help by fostering their companions or finding them a new, loving home.

Our journey began with our personal crew of fur babies—Pepe 🐕 (Pomsky), Penny 🐾 (Chihuahua), Jolene 🐶 (Great Dane puppy), and our newest rescue, Lucky 🐕‍🦺 (formerly Rufus), who is currently came to us from GA and Romeo (formerly Alfie) 🐕‍🦺 from SC . Rounding out the family are our two playful kitties, Tori 🐈 and Walker 🐱, who add even more joy to our home.

Through our blog, we’ll share rescue stories, sanctuary updates, events, and ways you can help make a difference. 🌟 Whether through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading the word, every act of kindness helps us give these dogs the second chance they deserve. 🥰
