Digital Legacies

Guns ablaze, hot smoking metal, running, shooting, taking cover, the bloodshed, the rush of adrenaline. “Satisfy… your needs… sate mine… attain a wish…” another voice spoke “…bound only by your imagination.” Iskall hesitated at first, but then… he reached for the gun and he was catapulted into an arena where Pigmen stood atop the stairs in the Nether, shouting war chants… that he somehow understood. The warchief of the Pigmen stood up from his throne and shouted, his slaves opened the gates, and a flood of creatures poured in, and the battle started. “As I always said: Business in the front, party in the back!” And he aimed his rifle at a group of Pigmen.

I'm still posting stuff here, so I'll be making more art.

Now I wanna tell ya something interesting. I used to grow up with this cute crossover headcanon about glitch from the game dance central and vanellope from Disney's wreck it ralph, being like siblings and then later hiro from big hero 6. Since those are characters I liked growing up.

First, I wanted to share my reasons for the first two characters. Vanellope is a video game character who is known for being a "glitch," and the same goes for glitch from dance central 2 (Not physical glitch tho) and are friends with people who are older than them mo and ralph of course. Both definitely rock the green / teal colors along with their personalities. If you know these characters, you'll probably know what I mean. I feel like they definitely would be the type to pull pranks and dance together. This was one of my favorite crossover ideas. Growing up, I would only find two fanarts with them, so I might be the first to make this more known.

Second is hiro and vanellope. Obviously, these are characters from the same animation company, Disney, and they do look alike. And him being associated with gummy bears and lollipops while vanellope is candy themed. I have this cool idea if hiro was to make a suit for vanellope. It would be like tracer from overwatch, hehe ^_^

These are characters from very know popular media, so of course, this crossover was bigger than the other. There are more fanart and edit/post of these two everywhere. (Now, of course, there were shipping stuff people made for them... soooo no, I'm not a fan of it... especially the age difference.😬

Both the games and movie they are from are... totally different media... I think think it's kinda hard to explain. Both characters are supposed to be 14 and have something to do with taking place in the future... I guess.

They would be chill with each other, lowkey. I can see glitch trying to bond with hiro being like a brother. Given the fact that hiro had a brother so it could work. I think hiro would be fascinated by the boom box called Boomy. Like he'll ask how it works and glitch would tell him about DCI headquarters and sh*t. And same for glitch being interested in the technology he has.

Tadashi used to wear the hat before he died, and now hiro wears it. I can kinda imagine him sometimes letting glitch borrow it.

1. For those who have seen Big Hero 6. Hiro had an older brother Tadashi (who in the movie died in a fire). The reason I brought this up is because I kinda see him taking on the big brother role in this sibling trio. He is a prodigy technologist. He is the one with the brains.

I received some good suggestions on where to start: Update my portfolio, prioritize LinkedIn for my projects and work with weekly posts (also tag studios I'm interested in), research studios for opportunities and openings, and explore what fellow artists, animators, and the like are using in the industry (for games, animation, etc).

With this said, I might make some changes to this blog, mostly to slow down on reblogs and return to reposting/self-reblogging old and current art and projects. I need to refocus on what I need to do for my foreseeable future on this site.

Artificial Intelligence Thoughts

I am not a technologist, or a computer scientist, or an AI researcher, or an engineer. I don't really know how these AI platforms work. I understand at a high level what they do, but not how they do it. Here are some of my thoughts:

Currently, these AI are not reliably accurate, just reliably approximate. You can look into AI having difficulty creating any art that has hands, or responding to a question about the fastest marine animal. It could probably be used as a source for disinformation pretty easily.

There are going to be lots of fun, creative, useful, and thoughtful things people can use these AI tools for. Workshopping ideas for your DND campaign. Looking for fixes in a broken section of computer code. Iterating in a creative process. Here's an example of a hilarious prompt and response from ChatGPT.

While there are lots of fun examples, there are also going to be very harmful users in this space. I expect there will be a lot of people who shift from cryptocurrency to AI generated content. It's the next variant in the get-rich with no-work, hustler grift virus from which are society is currently suffering.

Plagiarizing the old way is a thing of the past. Take-home essays and writing homework are no longer going to be an option for educators. These tools are too accessible for students to access and use without risk of getting caught.

If an AI platform uses other people's work without their permission and without paying or licensing it from them, then it is unethical to generate a profit from that output. This is my biggest concern. Current iterations of AI art use existing artists work as a source and can create artwork that matches an artist's style or aesthetic. Artists will have to move their artwork off the internet or behind paywalls that block the AI from scrubbing them for data. This creates a worse world for artists and a worse internet for users.

Artists and writers are essential to society. We should be doing our best to protect them and their work, not allowing them to be ripped off for the sake of technology. There can be a world where both exist in balance, but that world needs rules and protections.

Without regulation, social media makes our lives worse. Scams, cyber bullying, addiction, doxing, the list goes on and on of the negative effects of social media that become worse when we don't implement rules and regulations. These AI platforms will be the same.

Until some of these ethical concerns around AI's future become more clear, I won't be using these platforms.
