sorry i got strong feelings about eldritch creatures and how theyve been repackaged with the same aesthetics but not doing anything meaningful with them to justify them <<< is in annoying media critic mode
#LIKE WHY ANGEL IMAGERY. WHY SPACE IMAGERY.#im not wven against the concept but its sort of like copying what u like but not putting ur own twist#angels are linked with death. space is linked with death. you can mix it up#i really really want to see how creative ppl can be with this concept#theres something so cool with the way ppl take a concept and reinterpret it while staying in the definition its so so cool#unknowable means something different to others and its like my take on an eldritch creature will not be the same as another#bc when u start rehashing ideas i feel like u lose the writer style thats distinct to you yknow? the personality

What No one Tells You about Writing Fantasy, #2!
I did this list about 7 annoyances about fantasy, but I write in this genre for a reason! Fantasy knows no bounds, it can encompass all other genres within it. You can write a fantastical murder mystery, fantasy horror, fantasy romance, political drama, slice-of-life, comedy, whatever you’d like!
Whether it’s urban or high fantasy, supernatural or scientific, here’s seven great benefits of writing in this genre:
1. No modern means of communication
Unless you’re writing a world with phones or phone-adjacent devices. Phones and instant communication seriously inhibits the plausibility of dramatic irony and tension when you have to keep coming up with reasons to keep your characters from calling or texting each other everything they know. It’s exhausting, I tell you, and such a relief when phones aren’t a factor.
With that said, without phones, you have complete freedom to design your own magical channels of supernatural FaceTime, as weird and zany as you want. But without instant connections? Your character who knew too much can’t pass on the intel before they die. Your hero team can’t call for backup in their darkest hour. Otherwise easily preventable tragedies and deadly miscommunications are now very real.
2. The Monster Allegory
Fantasy and sci-fi tend to overlap more than they’re set apart, and in that overlap sits the monster allegory. Everything from werewolves to vampires to witches, reapers, demons, angels, goblins, trolls, wraiths, fairies, mermaids, ghosts, to Eldritch horrors and your classic Hollywood cast of mummies, creatures from the black lagoon, and Frankenstein.
Most of the time, the monsters aren’t just monsters, they represent a monstrous aspect of society the author wants to challenge and caricaturize in a fun and entertaining way. Or, the monsters are the good guys and the humans are the real terrors. Or, you’ve got two kinds of monsters to allegory two human sides. Sometimes they represent metaphorical demons, like vampires often representing addiction and werewolves repressed identities.
What all of this boils down to is the hyperbolic nature of science fantasy that allows you to go over-the-top with your metaphor and allegory in a way that a book grounded in reality just can’t.
3. Magic Systems!
Do you love world building? Do you love filling pages upon pages with your cool and unique set of superpowers you want your characters to have? Do you dream about your fight scenes and dramatic slow-mo shots?
Then Fantasy is for you!
There are zero limits to how you want to define your magic system. You can go classic with the familiar archetypes of elemental magic, wizards, sorcerers, and witches. Or you can step off the beaten path and design a whole new funky system of power sets. Best part? Your readers will have an awesome time imagining themselves with those powers, and debating endlessly about how it works.
4. Real-World Politics, who?
Amazon’s Rings of Power was twice-doomed when they only got the rights to adapt the appendices of The Silmarillion and when they decided to inject current political problems into a timeless story written purposefully to be divorced from those politics. You *can* write about human politics, but in fantasy, you don’t have to. You *can* interpret Lord of the Rings to be an allegory about the World Wars, but no matter how hard you argue, it wasn’t written with that intent.
Which means: Even if your story is set in the reality-adjacent fantasy version of 1543, you are free from the following: Racism, homophobia, sexism, religious bigotry, mental health bigotry, gender norms, anti-feminism, toxic masculinity, and more. “But that’s how it was-”
Nope. This is fantasy. You built this world, you decided to keep in the discrimination. Or… You can fill your fantasy world with a rainbow of gays, POCs in power, women in power, men unafraid to be compassionate and caring, a religion that doesn’t foster hate and division, the list goes on. You. Are. Free.
5. Nothing is too “unrealistic”
Both that you will always have people whining about how X would never happen so write the book you want to read, but also because fantasy is fake. Fairies aren’t real. Mermaids aren’t real. There are no rules for how they must be written and that’s how we have so much variety with so much room for interpretation by so many creators. Twilight made how much money writing about vampires that sparkle like diamonds in sunlight and crack like marble?
This is fantasy, it’s supposed to be unrealistic. Yes, your plot should make sense, but don’t be afraid to get weird. Write at least some of your story dependant on those fantasy elements. Write a story that can’t just be told in the real world minus the spectacle. Don’t be afraid to be sincerely fantastical and weird. People love weird. People love loving weird.
6. You are in complete control
But you do still need to research, unfortunately. Unless this is urban fantasy that depends at least a little on the human world, yours is completely your own to govern like a god tweezing weeds from their garden. You get to design your own geography and weather patterns and seasons. Your own countries and kingdoms and politicians. Your epic pre-canon fantasy war and the stakes that it was fought over. Your species, races, and ethnicities.
It’s a shame that a movie like Avatar (2009) set out to be this wholly unique take on aliens with music completely divorced from earthly bonds, new languages and a visually and culturally distinct alien species… and ended up a largely generic blue Pocahontas in space. It forgot that it was fantasy and didn’t go weird enough. They have horses, monkeys, wolves, rhinos, and deer just re-skinned with some extra limbs and colors. It’s pretty but it’s so, so shallow.
It could have become a cult classic like many a positively *weird* 80s off-beat fantasies, and now it just… exists. It makes a whole lot of money but its impact on the cultural zeitgeist is negligible. I’m the only person I know that can name every major character in the movie, and I’m no Avatar obsessor. They had complete creative control, and this is what they did with it. Don’t be Avatar. Take your creative freedom and run.
7. Even if it has been done before, do it again
You can say this about any genre, particularly romance, but fantasy and sci-fi, by the gatekeep-y nature of their fans, can be a lot less forgiving when it comes to claims of “unoriginality”. No one hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans. Fans of these genres can get… concerningly attached to their favorite stories (mostly because the people who like them had only their fictional heroes to protect them from very real bullies).
But Game of Thrones exists because the author likes Lord of the Rings and went “yes, but what if it was an R-rated parade of misery?” Dungeons and Dragons exists because people wanted to roleplay in an LotR-esque world. Legolas and Gimli single-handedly defined what a badass elf and dwarf looks like in high fantasy. And people still gobble up media ripping shamelessly, or even good-naturedly, from this one story.
So on my other list, I argued that the sum of your parts is still original, even if the components aren’t. On this list, I implore you this: It’s not stealing or appropriating to write another Legolas if you love Legolas. Everyone loves Legolas. How many generic buff action heroes do we have and love? How many Hallmark romances tread the same predictable path? Who gives a damn if it’s unoriginal? Just make it entertaining and have something fresh to say in the end (or don’t, that’s fine too), and people will read it.
And when people say “Oh, you mean like Legolas”, take it as a compliment, not an insult. Yes, exactly like Legolas. Here’s my new elf because I adore this other book, now watch him go on a new adventure that I wrote for him.

Meet Ataraxia, the Artifice of Stagnation! After much wrestling with the design I've got something that works for her!
Ataraxia is, essentially, the real BBEG of the campaign we were in. An ancient supercomputer with the power to challenge gods, powered by masses of undead celestial creatures, fused into a mass she deemed more suitable for her purpose. She was created and used, theoretically, in order to protect humanity from vengeful gods. Her purpose was to ensure their safety. However, Ataraxia's idea of safety got very out of hand, and she tried to get full control over every single mortal, considering their free will a bit too risky for their own well-being.
Her body is meant to evoke both, some eldritch horror and the good ol' biblically accurate angel stuff. I went for a more organic look on her mecha parts, almost like the parts of an insect or even spiky conches, as if they were grown from the celestials' remains instead of being simple forged metal. I hope y'all enjoy it, mecha body horror isn't exactly my focus, but I love her all the same- (also, Urion/The Onirist is there, held gently like hamburger : ) )

Set in an alternate 1910’s steampunk Cairo, where djinn and other creatures (among other things, creepy steampunk angels) live alongside humans. We get to follow an investigator as she races to catch a criminal using a powerful object to control djinn and stir unrest. Fantastically creative and fresh, and also features a buddy cop dynamic between two female leads as well as a sapphic romance.
The Angel of the Crows by Katherine Addison*
Sherlock Holmes retelling. After having been injured fighting a war against fallen angels, Doyle returns to London to survive on only a veteran's pension. Modern day fantasy angels

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
Young adult portal fantasy. Young Karou is a student in Prague, but she’s also a mystery. When strange signs start appearing around the world - handprints scorched into doorways by winged strangers - will Karou finally find out who she really is?
Angelfall by Susan Ee*
Young adult post apocalypse. Six months ago, the angels descended on the Earth - and brought the apocalypse with them. Between ruling street gangs and vicious angels, Penryn is just trying to keep her family alive. When angels fly away with her little sister, Penryn does the unthinkable: strikes a deal with an injured and outcast angel to rescue her.
A Madness of Angels by Kate Griffin*
Urban fantasy. Two years ago, sorcerer Matthew Swift was killed. Today, he woke back up. And he isn't alone in his body, but rather in the company of the blue electric angels, who lived in the telephone lines and are now experiencing the world for the first time through him. Now, he seeks vengeance not only against the one who killed him, but also against the one who brought him back.
The Fall that Saved Us by Tamara Jerée*
Cassiel is of angelic heritage, raised to fight and kill demons alongside her family. But Cassiel has left the hunt and her family behind, wanting a normal life. For three years she's built a life for herself, cut off from her family, but now a demon has found her, sent to collect her soul. Except, the demon isn't any more interested in following the orders of her family than Cassiel is. Can they work together to free themselves from the expectations placed on them? Sapphic romance.
Out of the Blue by Sophie Cameron*
Young adult, sapphic main character. When angels started falling from the sky, the world went mad. So far not a single angel has survived the fall, but that doesn't stop teenage Jaya's father from growing an obsession with catching one, going as far as uprooting the entire family to Edinburgh in hopes of finding one. Jaya, busy mourning the recent loss of her mother, finds his obsession pointless - until an angel crashes right at her feet. What’s more, it's alive...
Full on fantasy angels
Tread of Angels by Rebecca Roanhorse
Novella. During Heaven's War, the rebel Abaddon died and fell. Now, long after, what remains of his body is a valuable element called divinity, which is mined by Fallen, descendants of those who fell and the only ones capable of perceiving divinity. Celeste, a Fallen raised among the privileged Elect, is deeply protective of her little sister Mariel. When Mariel is accused of having murdered an Elect, it’s up to Celeste to find out what really happened and save her sister.
The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman
Middle grade. In Lyra's world, every person has a daemon: an animal companion who follows them throughout life. When children begins being stolen off the street, among them Lyra's friend, she must embark on a great journey to save him, taking her to the furthest north - and beyond. A note: the angels do not appear until the second book, however this trilogy is very much worth a read from the start.
Gunmetal Gods by Zamil Akhtar
Dark fantasy inspired by the crusades. Seeking revenge, Micah the Metal leads an army of men baptized i angel's blood against the kingdom that stole his daughter. It’s up to Kevah, legendary fighter, to stop him and save his people. But ever since losing his wife a decade ago, Kevah has lost his fighting spirit. To defeat Micah, he must find it within himself a will to live again. While featuring (scary eldritch) angels, they serve more as a driving background/world-building force than as actual characters.
Horror angels
The Unnoticeables by Robert Brockway
Angels watch over humans, but not to protect us but to solve us, seeking to make the universe more efficient and clean away the undesirable. Carey, a 70s punk, doesn't like the idea of being solved. Watching fellow punks disappear off the streets, he becomes embroiled in a dangerous conspiracy. Decades later, stunt woman Kaitlyn has her own encounter with the angels and their creations - as well an older punk who might have the answers she needs.
Hell Followed With Us by Andrew Joseph White
Young adult post apocalypse. The world has ended, and sixteen-year-old trans boy Benji is on the run from the cult that caused armageddon. Infected with the bioweapon they released to bring about the end, Benji is slowly transforming into something not quite human and desperate to find someplace safe. When coming across a group of surviving teens, Benji finds something new to fight for. No traditional angels, but it does play with the concept.
Angel Radio by A.M. Blaushild
Young adult post apocalypse. A week after strange and terrifying angels appeared, humanity is dead. Sole survivor of her town, teenage Erika is left wandering on her own. That is, until she catches an odd broadcast on the radio which lures her into the newly emptied world. There she encounters dangerous creatures, but also fellow survivor Midori, who has a cryptic connection to the angels.
Sci-fi angels
Archangel Protocol (LINK Angel series) by Lyda Morehouse
Cyberpunk. In a future where religion has become the law of the land and people spend as much time in cyberspace as in reality, ex-cop Deirdre has lost everything after having been accused of a crime she didn't commit. When approached by a man calling himself Michael and asked to solve the mystery behind the so called link angels - supposed angels who show themselves in cyberspace - Deirdre is given a chance at redemption and answers.
Archangel by Sharon Shinn
For twenty years, archangel Raphael has ruled over the lands, leading to corruption among both angels and mortals. Now the time has come for the angel Gabriel to become archangel, but first he must find his Angelica, a mortal woman chosen by Jehovah to be by his side. But his chosen partner, Rachel, has lived under oppression and fear, and she has her own ideas of what she wants - ideas that don't include Gabriel.
Terminal World by Alastair Reynolds
On a dying earth, society is separated by zones in which the laws of reality shift, allowing for different levels of technology and life. At the top of Spearpoint, the only surviving city, lies the Celestial zone, in which only angels can survive. Quillon, former angel who's had his wings removed and body changed so he can survive and infiltrate the lower zones, has been in hiding for years when he receives a warning that his former people are hunting him. Forced on the run, Quillon must leave Spearpoint for the dangerous wastes beyond, where he will discover ancient secrets of his world.
Space angels
Dust by Elizabeth Bear
In a dying spaceship, orbiting an equally dying sun, noblewoman Perceval waits for her own gruesome death. Having been captured by an opposing house, her wings severed and life forfeit, Perceval’s execution is imminent - until a young servant charged with her care proves to be Perceval’s long lost sister. To stop a war between houses likely to doom them all, the two flee together across a crumbling, dangerous spaceship. At its core waits Jacob Dust, god and angel, all that remains of what the ship once was. And he wants Perceval. Sapphic and asexual characters, however be prepared for kinda fucked up relationships.
The Outside by Ada Hoffman*
AKA the book the put me in an existential crisis. Souls are real, and they are used to feed AI gods in this lovecraftian inspired sci-fi where reality is warped and artificial gods stand against real, unfathomable ones. Autistic scientist Yasira is accused of heresy and, to save her eternal soul, is recruited by cybernetic ‘angels’ to help hunt down her own former mentor, who is threatening to tear reality itself apart. Sapphic main character.
The Genesis of Misery by Neon Yang
Space opera inspired by Joan of Arc. Misery Nomaki possesses rare stone-working abilities usually found among only saints and the voidmad. Not believing herself the be former and desperately not wanting to become the latter, Misery is trying to keep a low profile. Her attempt fails when the voice of an angel - or a very convincing delusion - leads her to become the centerpiece of a dangerous battle between two warring factions hoping to use her. Very unique and cool conceptually, but a little all over the place in how it handles its plot.
Bonus AKA I haven’t read these yet but they seem really cool
Dusk in Kalevia by Emily Compton
Toivo Valonen is a secret agent in more ways than one. An angel masquerading as human, he's acted as a source of hope for humanity in wartime throughout history. In 1960, he embarks on an undercover mission to Kalevia, allied with a rebellion against the government. In his way is fellow angel and rival agent Demyan Chernyshev, who’s working for the KGB.
The House of Shattered Wings by Aliette de Bodard
Having just barely survived the Great Houses War, much of Paris lies in ruins. Morningstar, founder of the House Silverspires, has gone missing, and something is stalking the people within the House's walls. Three people, a Fallen, an alchemist, and a man wielding spells from the far east, may be prove to be Silverspire's salvation.
The Worst Perfect Moment by Shivaun Plozza
Young adult. Sixteen-year-old Tegan is dead and i heaven. There, she's supposed to be reliving her happiest memory. Except the moment Tegan has been placed in isn't very happy at all. Guided by an angel, Tegan is brought through her past to understand what most matters to her. If she fails to see the happiness in her assigned memory, the consequences would be dire for both her and the angel.
Honorary mentions AKA these didn't really work for me but maybe you guys will like them: The Library of the Unwritten by A.J. Hackwith, City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick, Sandman Slim by Richard Kadrey

Choose a being from another realm banished to this wicked earth to meet and form a close relationship with.
1: a faerie noble who was kicked out of the fae for insulting a guest. They look like a pale naked humanoid with pink splotches and a mushroom hat (it's actually part or their head) and red eyes. Though she looks humanoid, he's closer in biology to a fungus. They're a bit naïve to the way the world of mortals works, but can be very energetic, and occasionally sadistic. They aren't evil, but they don't understand human morality.
2: a vampire from the void between realms that was taken back to earth by a researcher. It's very powerfully psychic, and seems to be millenia old. It appears as a sexless humanoid, with an extremely underweight body, transparent skin, silvery eyes, and long hair, it lacks a mouth using four sharp tentacles on its back to suck out fluids and souls from mortal bodies. It's very skittish and shy around those it sees as a threat, but it can be very freindly to those it knows, being known to be very intelligent and introspective.
3: a mysterious black cat who shows up in random locations. Thought to have immense eldritch power. Speaks in low male voice. (Warning, he is the only one on this list who won't have sex with humans under any circumstances).
4: a shadowy being made out of living void. Seems to be a somewhat glitched enetiy, with a strange colorful aura around an entirely dark body. Attempts to communicate with this one have been largely unsuccessful, but this entity has proven to have a very docile personality, being able to harm people very easily and trying not to, and mostly wanting to stay inside and enjoy mortal entertainment.
5: a demon summoned by a sorcerer on earth but never allowed to fulfill the tasks they were assigned due to the wizard rejecting them. As a demon not being able to fulfill their masters request is very traumatic, and it took work for them to be able to do anything at all. They appear as an athletic feminine human, with raven's wings, a Scorpion's tail, shark's teeth, stag's horns, and a snake head and upper body where a human’s genitals should be. They're still kind pretty broken after their rejection, but tend twords optimism, and they're very egar to do anything they can to please the humans around them, even to their own detriment.
6: a fallen angel who was recently banished to earth from whichever dimension they came from. They're still very upset by this, and may think of themself as worthless due to their rejection by the other angels. Their body appears somewhat humanoid, but more like a jointed plastic doll than anything, with massive golden wings, and a broken halo behind their head. They also seem to have developed cracks along their body. They're very upset at the momment, and can easy burst into fits of self loathing, though their starting to make a few freinds on earth, mabye you could help cheer them up. (Warning, the entity that created the angels should not be trusted, do not believe it if it tells you it God or a god.)
7: cyborg supersolider permanently skinned from the neck down and welded to their power armor, even the lower part of her face has been replaced with a gas mask. They were banished by her superiors for disobeying orders to fire on civilian targets, and are only in a realm with other humans by sheer luck. She can be very calm and patient, though they're somewhat rebellious by nature, and very willing to stand up to people they see as evil, as well as being a bit afraid of anyone trying to control her.
8: eldrich shape-shifting dragon, whose true form is a massive three headed beast, with silvery scales and massive wings. He's known to be here for his own reasons, though if he could ever go back to his home plane is still unlikely, especially after what he's done. He's known to be somewhat calming to those around him, being somewhat fatherly and slightly dominant by nature and speaking in a low booming voice, though he can still be very deadly to those who wrong him.
9: a creature from a digital realm whose been brought into the physical world. Their form should not be described due to the horror of such a transformation, and it's very likely they're in constant pain due to what they are. They seem very freindly, but they'll try to sell you things, they don't want to but they have to. They seem to be under a lot of stress.
10: a wizard who was sent to this plane due to a spell backfiring on them. They look mostly human, but their eyes have been replaced with a special kind of stone, and their teeth have been filed down into sharp points. They also have a lot of tattoos and piercings on their body. They seem very ambitious and hedonistic, though not entirely evil, and they can be very charismatic for those who meet them. They'll also likely try to transform your body into something new, like they do with most people who consent to such acts.
11: a sentient silvery slime created by a god of the outer realms. It's very intelligent, and can take any form though without the ability to adjust color or texture (when interacting with humans tends to take the form of a heavily stylized human female), though it's likely it was rejected by the gods for a good reason, and seems to have some desire to dominate humans, and be free of any moral constraints, though it's not ambitious enough to make a play to try to control anything larger than a small cult on earth. It's currently just sort of relaxing and observing humanity as it likes to do.
12: the wolf with many heads (do not try to interact with the wolf with many heads, trust us!)
Like to give the creature a little gift, reblog to get the creature to come to you! ^_^

I feel like you’ve got the nuance and the skill to write Eldritch horror of a man that Lucifer is. Canon so far has not touched up enough on the extent of his powers and how deep his connection to the realm of Hell is, and how that affects him.
Oh that’s very nice of you to say! It would be wonderful if I could partake in creating eldritch horror qualities for Lucifer Morningstar in canon! If only 🥲
I would love Lucifer to be some incomprehensible horror creature beneath the veneer of a charmingly humanoid exterior. I’d love to associate Lucifer — the Morning Star and Bearer of Light — with Cosmic Dread. Perhaps if you cut him open, beams of light would burst out as if you’d opened blackout curtains to a summer day just beyond your window panes.
Honestly I don’t know what Hazbin Hotel is going to do with Lucifer. I pray that the form he took in the S1 finale isn’t the best they can do because for God’s sake, Stolas’s fully demonic form is more intimidating than The Devil’s and that’s absolutely shameful.
Ooh, imagine if he’d fallen to what would become Hell and upon impact, Lucifer shattered into pieces? Pieces that sank even deeper than his full body did in the fall, that would eventually manifest into the 7 Rings? Even as little bits or specks, the light that Lucifer was made of gave new life to the creatures dwelling within the deepest crux of the Earth, mutating creatures that God had already made:
A ground-dwelling lizard comes in contact with a glittering speck that it licks up. The lizard pulses with color as it triples in size. It outgrows the tunnel of dirt it was hunkered down in and breathes in the air, then exhales smoke and fire to scorch its surroundings.
A fox races to its den with a mouthful of honeysuckle and lilies to eat as winter closes in, trying to outrun a horde of bees rushing to pollinate what the fox had taken. The bees flood its den, and in a panic the fox tries to dig through to the other side. The fear ebbs as gleaming white light appears at the fox’s paws, but instead of sunlight and fresh air, the fox and bees disappear into blinding white.
A spider feeds on curiously glowing pests and creates webs of pure light from its spinneret.
The rooster that has fertilized more eggs than any of its brothers crows at what it thinks is the sunrise but is actually displaced angelic light beneath straws of hay.
A dozy sheep strays too far from its herd and cast in a starlit pool. A pool where fish and amphibious creatures live symbiotically.
They all fall into what will become Hell, sinking into these realms in their pursuit of the Angel that the light had formerly belonged to.
And as all of this is happening, the first woman rushes to help Lucifer put himself back together, ignoring her own agony from the fall and the pure energy that Lucifer’s pieces radiate. They manage to make him whole, although there are cracks in the porcelain doll-like surface if you look hard enough.
It’s not exactly like the Bible but it still brushes biblical concepts in a way.

After much lurking and overthinking, i have finally decided to create my own kin blog :3
Edit: I should have probably said this earlier, but I will not be sharing donation asks. I have trust issues due to being scammed and intimidated by beggars IRL. Sorry!
I am a 20-something autistic alterhuman and i use she/it (sounds like "shit" hehe) pronouns. My kintypes are:
cat therian
energy being/light entity otherspin (i'm an alien being, not an angel! but i don't know the name of my species yet :( )
Both kintypes are psychological and spiritual. I additionally identify with the voidpunk label.
In this blog I will post about my alterhumanity and occasionally about fandom and special interest related stuff. Here are my special interests:
animals
the hippie subculture and all things psychedelic (although i don't take drugs recreationally other than occasionally alcohol)
as my spintype implies, energy beings, cosmic/eldritch beings, angels and anything that may be considered a "higher being"
Lastly, since i'm here for a good time, so I will block anyone who...
posts discourse of any kind
has "Zionists/Pro-Israel DNI" in their bio (I grew up in Israel and still have family there)
calls me a "starseed" or an "indigo child" or tries to worship me
and that's all! I am looking forward to finding new creature friends :)

hi aubrie!! i hope ur doing well and drinking plenty of water :) i was just wondering, what is like the strongest species in your canon? cause theres eldritch creatures, angels, demons, and more so i was curious
See a “strongest species” is difficult because there are always exceptions :p
Eldritch beings as a whole are the strongest I’d say, and next I’d generally say demons, but then there’s BEN who is a poltergeist stronger than a vast majority of demons. It’s a case by case basis sometimes.
I’ll tentatively say Eldritch > demons > ghosts > zombies (because those exist in my lore)
Which doesn’t seem like very many species but also there’s subspecies of every category, considering poltergeists are a subspecies of ghosts and so are spirits. I’d say like? Honestly most poltergeists are at least on par with demons, but I don’t wanna group them there because they are ghosts, so ya just gotta remember it’s case by case.
You might be thinking hey, I also mentioned angels but they aren’t on there. Well, I don’t know if I wanna put angels on the same list because the Overworld has its own varying species, and I haven’t put a whole lot of thought into them and angels would just be a very broad category. Just think of it as there’s different species of angels that are equal to all the species listed above I suppose :p
I hope this answered your questions though ^^’

THEORY THEORY THEORY TIME! Can we really TALK or think about a lot of similirities that hit my head more and more every single day? Maybe I'm biased about this, but lemme explain!
qBBH and qAntoine. Yeah, let's start this way. I really think their lore is 100% related to each other. Why? I have some reasons for this:
-Both are Eldritch creatures. (+ qBBH also being Demon or so Fallen Angel) So, They both may have been… met before.
-The temple image. Antoine was the most insistent with asking aBBH about what he think it is. Maybe to confirm if qBBH REMEMBER something about the past. And qAntoine complain to Cucurucho for this thing being "too soon". I could guess the "deal" (The shake hands yellow and black) is something related to both of them in some way.
-The text in the Rebellion about qBBH. The "It is strange that nothing bad has happened. Or maybe it happened a long time ago." Maybe that is about the pact… or what qBBH recently told to his childrens. He has to leave or could be worse. Or, the way he said after talk to qTina: "The more time I spend in a place, the more dangerous it becomes."
-qAntoine has a tittle said by Cucurucho: "The Watchful Scribe". He already has a lot of information about everyone. And it said that Antoine himself know the role of every character for the need of his own role.
-qBBH confirmed in the "Find the buttom" with qAntoine that he "Always watch from afar." in a omninous way. It's possibly a hint about them like a camaraderie elbow blow or just my biased way to think about a randoom chat.
-We cannot forget "The Watcher" himself. It could be other person. it could be something related to both, or just qAntoine, we don't know.
-Egg Island, where "The Watcher" was, appeared more eggs. qAntoine said to Pomme days ago "I know you as if I made you." (Or at least I understand it that way. Could be wrong) So MAYBE qAntoine is the one responsible for that and-
-Could someone finally give importance to the Census Bureau?!?! Is in FRENCH. And okey, I'm like crazy here for some reason but-- qAntoine confirmed to have 3 faces: "Everyone has multiple faces, I'm the only one showing them all" and "I have four actually, the last one is inside, I'd rather not show it" Can we Talk about Cucurucho's original name being ":)" and that are 2 more of them… AND THEN THE DARK ONE?! Am I crazy or not?! qAntoine created them as well?! Maybe are the Cucurucho prototypes inspired by ayrobot?!
-Dapper with his father have become the ones who do experiments like "Elena", the new misterious worker who aparently is part of the hibrid experiments on other residents like qBaghera. Dapper told his dad it could be dangerous if The Federation knows about his investigations. It's a good parallel/way to fusion the concepts. -(I FORGOT THIS ONE !! (Editing editing)) The first day that qBBH returned to Quesadilla Island from Egg Island, he was surprised to see qEtoiles and qBagi and said "how did you get there if you're not dead?" // When qAntoine returned and was chatting with qtubbo, his comment was "I was dead, I think, but not anymore, I was tired of being dead" LIKE--…WHAT.
Sorry my weird english. I talk spanish and now that the translations with the new system are a posibility I'm trying to get into the french lore. I really really love it!
#qsmp#qsmp theory#qsmp dapper#qsmp pomme#qsmp aypierre#qsmp antoine#qsmp bbh#Am I crazy or just somehow that makes totally sense?

Oc-tober: Day 28: Monster
Content Warnings: alien power, body horror, chaos, combat, corruption, cosmic horror, demons, eldritch themes, infections, invasive behavior, life-draining, living nightmares, manifestations, supernatural, sword violence, tendrils, unsettling presence, visceral imagery, wounds
Bianca fits into the eldritch category. She is actually a cosmic horror. Outside of her true draconic form, she has tendrils that manifest from her back, writhing beneath her wings during combat. These tendrils tend to act like they have a life of their own, twisting through the air to either pierce or siphon life from her enemies.
When I was coming up with Bianca's character design, I wanted to show a manifestation of her corrupted abilities, so they can be seen as an extension of her corrupted powers.
The eldritch qualities tend to showcase her connection to the supernatural, often showing her with a visceral, unsettling presence that defies man's logic. Her sword, Noctemaris, acts as a focus to keep her abilities in check until she can control them. When unleashed, they tend to defy natural laws, coiling into reality like shadows that can wound and infect, too. They reflect her chaotic nature and the vast, alien power she wields, as in my lore angels and demons are just beings from another dimension.
Bianca's eldritch traits remind humanity that she is a living nightmare far beyond the comprehension of man.

I hear you're where to go for Witcher fic recs! How about some with Geralt being protective over Jaskier? Shippy, if you can find any, but I wouldn't mind platonic! I just want Geralt to look out for his bard. Thank you for your time!
Hello!! Here's what I've got! There's a wide variety of settings and levels of angst, so hopefully there should be something for everone :D
As always, please feel free to add more recs or promote your own work in the notes!
~
Don't Leave Me by @geraskierficrecs (Rated M, 6.2k)
Jaskier’s hands tighten around Geralt before slowly losing their grip, spasming where they fall limp. “Ger--geralt--” “Don’t you dare,” he snarls back, “Don’t you dare try to give me your fucking goodbyes. You are not dying.” “S--silly man.” Jaskier’s smile is full of painful fondness. “Would you fight death for me?” Geralt swings him up into his arms and nearly weeps at the sound of familiar hooves running in his direction. “Every. Fucking. Time.”
If You Give a Bard a Lute by @ghostinthelibrarywrites (Rated T, 10k)
After Jaskier’s father disowns him, confiscates all his possessions— including Filavandrel’s lute— and kicks him out with nothing but the clothes on his back, Jaskier spends a long, hungry winter barely surviving. When he reunites with Geralt in the spring, his witcher is determined to get his lute back, even if it means recruiting his fellow witchers to stage a heist.
Wild Blue Yonder by @jaskierswolf (Rated T, 5.3k)
Geralt's bookshop is slowly falling apart and he's ready to give up when Jaskier wanders into the store
remember me I sing by @echo-bleu (Rated G, 3.1k - also includes Yennnefer)
Filavandrel's gift was so much more than a simple lute. It seemed fitting, that Jaskier’s soul would be made of wood and strings and beautiful sounds. The problem is that now Rience has his lute and is threatening to burn it if they don't hand over Ciri. And Jaskier has never told anyone that his very life is tied to his beloved instrument.
This Is How I Disappear by @stacyholmes (Rated T, 5.4k)
Jaskier keeps texting unknown number. Geralt keeps reading said texts without answering.
The Footsteps We Follow by thiswildheart (Rated T, 16.5k)
Look, Jaskier's got a lot going on. He's painfully aware that there are cataclysmic events happening and that the troubled teenager he knows might save the world or speed along the end of days. He's also in love with a man who's never even admitted that they're friends, which is almost as bad. Oh, and he's still working as the Sandpiper, only now a terrifying eldritch creature has entrusted him with the Song of the Seven to give hope to the elves and help them fight back against their oppression. It's probably the bravest thing he's ever done, but not everyone sees it that way. Luckily he knows some people who excel at last minute rescues. ... then he just has to figure out how to tell Geralt why so many people are trying to kill him. This is going to go great.
Getting Warmer (orphaned) (Rated T, 8.2k)
Injured and freezing after a kikimora hunt gone wrong, Geralt and Jaskier must wait out a thunderstorm at the bottom of a cliff, huddling for warmth. It is here that Geralt finally confronts his feelings for the bard.
Jaskier and Mountains Just Don't Mix by C4t1l1n4 (Rated G, 3.8k)
Despite the other Witchers' positive reaction to Geralt's bard, Vesemir is reluctant to have a human stay with them at Kaer Morhen so Jaskier attempts to leave and ends up almost freezing to death on the side of the mountain. Hypothermia fic
Immediately, I Love Him (He's Doing His Best) by @hum-my-name (Rated G, 26.5k)
"In which Greg is some sort of guardian angel, I don't know" <><> A few days ago, Joey Batey did an interview in which he created a lovely little character named Greg. A few days ago, I decided to write a cute little thing about Greg and Jaskier being the best of friends throughout the years, with a dash of Geralt and Jaskier friendship as a treat. 13k words later, here we are. Enjoy.
Broken Mirror by happy_hermit (Rated G, 2.1k)
To Geralt’s credit, he waits until they’re well away from Kaer Morhen to ask the question. He also waits until Yennefer and Ciri have gone to bed, which makes the whole thing feel a bit too calculated for Jaskier’s liking, which is to say that he doesn’t like it at all. “Where’s your lute, Jaskier?” Jaskier doesn’t quite flinch, though his heart does something of the sort all on its own. It is very much a wound that hasn’t healed; as is most of him, these days.
Echo by @kingthunder (Rated E, 29.5k)
Jaskier loses his voice the morning after a concert. As he and Geralt find new ways to fill the silence between them, they realize it isn't only Jaskier's voice that's been lost—and getting it back will bring them closer than they've ever been before.
If There's Any Sleep At Night by @smolalienbee (Rated T, 22.8k)
The mare is but a silhouette of a human and yet at his words something passes through her expression - whether it’s surprise, joy, fear, Geralt doesn’t know. But it’s clear that what he said has struck her in some way. (“She is not some mindless monster, Geralt.” He remembers Jaskier’s words.) A mare, also known as a mara or a zmora - a malicious entity, a bringer of nightmares and a demon of the night. An easy enough contract to fulfill, if only frustrating, or at least that’s what Geralt believes when he first sets out to hunt down one such mare. What he doesn’t expect is to be wrapped up in a tale of a wronged soul, of love and of joy.
Also, because I'm not above reccing my own fics, here's a few I've written!
Wash Away the Blood and Tears by me (Rated T, 1.8k)
Jaskier re-injures his fingers while distracting Nilfgaard from Ciri. Afterward, Geralt volunteers to help wash his hair. Or: In which Jaskier gets a bath and a nap, and Geralt gets a new role in the group.
We'll Build a Den Out of Pillows (And Get Drunk Again) by me (Rated G, 2k)
Jaskier gets sick. When Geralt asks how to help, Jaskier jokingly suggests that he build a pillow fort. He does not expect Geralt to take it seriously. Geralt takes it seriously.
~
If you want more, there’s a Protective Geralt tag on AO3 that I’m sure has many lovely works I haven’t read!
(You can also find my other reclists here)
#wren recs#geraskier#geralt#jaskier#the witcher#the witcher fic recs#witcher#reclists#twn#asks#anon#am i getting a reputation? how fun!#i guess y'all are catching onto the fact that i have no self-restraing when it comes to reclists lol

TADC Playing D&D
(ALL PLATONIC/FAMILIAL.)
Caine is the DM obviously
Pomni plays a Firbolg Warlock (but her Firbolg’s design is the one that looks like a cow. y’all know the one. it’s the only valid design for a Firbolg)
Jax plays a Tiefling Rogue (obviously)
Ragatha plays an Aasimar Cleric (also obviously)
Zooble plays a Changeling Barbarian
Gangle plays a Gnome Druid
Kinger plays a Warforged Artificer
And then Caine reveals the plot twist: it’s gonna be irl dnd, and they ACTUALLY PLAY their characters
They’ve got costumes and their character traits and everything! Like, Ragatha gets angel wings, Jax has horns, Pomni gets a tail (because, again, cow-like Firbolgs are the only right way to design Firbolgs, and you can pry that from my cold, dead hands)
The terrain also changes into the same terrain as wherever they adventure to
Antics ensue!
Zooble is the tank
And they can instill the fear of god upon man
But you know who else can be scary as fuck?
Ragatha
Have you ever fought a Forge Cleric before? Did you know those bitches can wear Heavy Armor?
Combat is WILD when they’re actually acting it out
Though, it can barely be considered “acting” because Caine has somehow made magic possible????
Kinger asks to make the most wild shit because he thinks it’s fun
Gangle once got downed, got to two (2) failed Death Saves, was brought back up, and then was IMMEDIATELY downed again
Pomni gets anxiety over even the most mundane of rolls
She was asked to roll Perception, and she was sweating buckets, afraid to fail and screw everything up, and it was literally just to find a nice bakery in the city they were at
Jax asks to pickpocket orphans
Ragatha: Pomni, why is your Strength a seven???
Pomni: i don’t want to talk about it
Her Unarmed Strike literally does zero (0) damage
She never uses her weapon ever
Only Eldritch Blast
She also uses other spells ofc, but Eldritch Blast is her go-to
“Doll Face, i’m down” “Pomni’s having a panic attack” “okay, and? i’m downed”
Jax and Ragatha have beef the Whole Time
“why did you think you could hide in an empty arena??” “because i’m a Rogue, and they have Advantage on hiding!” “IT IS AN EMPTY ARENA WITH NOTHING BUT SAND.” “I AM A ROGUE WITH ADVANTAGE TO HIDING.” “THE ARENA IS EMPTY. THERE IS NOWHERE TO HIDE.”
Despite being a Firbolg, which is considered a race of Giant, Pomni is STILL considered as a Small creature (due to her own height)
Because of this, she can ride every single other person in the party, as the Ride rules in dnd state that a willing creature at least one size larger than you and has appropriate anatomy can serve as a mount
This has started a “technique” the group has named “War Horsing”
In which Pomni sits on someone’s shoulders and spams Eldritch Blast non-stop while the other person wrecks house
(She usually sits on Zooble’s shoulders and Cure Wounds them whenever they take too much damage)
She’s also called the “cannon” of the group because she’ll sit on Zooble’s shoulders and use Fireball
Speaking of Fireball!
The gang once found Beads of Fireball, and Jax, wanting to be a boss bitch and show how much better than everyone he is by single-handedly killing this super hard boss they were fighting, thought that because he’s a Tiefling and Tieflings have Resistance to Fire Damage, he could easily survive a blast.
Anyway, he ended up taking 80d6 Fire Damage after he threw all ten (10) beads at once.
Even when the damage was halved, he still died instantly.
Ragatha considered if it was worth it to Revivify him.
Pomni uses Speech of Beast and Leaf to speak with plants, and the plants just cuss her out.
Zooble: can i roll to pick up Pomni by the ankles and swing her around as an improvised weapon?
Pomni: ?!?!?!
(Caine said yes)
(Zooble ended up doing five whole damage with Pomni’s body)
Caine once rolled 200d8 Bludgeoning damage because Kinger fell off a mountain (he was Revivified by Ragatha after)
“COUNTERSPELL THIS, B[@&$%]” -Zooble, right before decking an NPC straight through a wall
When fights get too hairy, Jax will Disengage and leave the party to fend for themselves
There was once this HORRIFIC chase scene the party had to try to survive
Zooble: *polymorphed into a mountain goat by Pomni, sprinting as fast as they can*
Gangle: *Wild Shaped into a mouse, desperately hanging onto Zooble’s fur*
Ragatha: *flying away while holding Pomni*
Pomni: *clinging to Ragatha like how a baby sloth would cling to its mother, shooting Eldritch Blast at the monster every turn in a desperate attempt to slow it down, screaming*
Jax: *already 200ft in front of the others because he ran off way before them*
Kinger: *wondering if it’s a good time to tell the others he has Longstrider prepared*
Jax got maimed by a Mimic because he couldn’t help but not loot a chest he found
He then proceeded to get maimed by ANOTHER MIMIC in the VERY NEXT ROOM because he also tried to loot that, too
Zooble: does a 22 hit? 😏
Caine: no
the entire party: 😟
Pomni got bitten by a werewolf and failed the Constitution saving throw, so she ended up becoming a werewolf. During her first transformation, she lost control after failing the saving throw and immediately started mauling Jax.
Everyone just kinda stopped and watched in awe for a moment before they realized they should probably help him.
“He needed the humbling” -Zooble
Kinger crafts Pomni a gun and gives it to her
Caine: so you all see the werewolf pull out a Tommy gun
The party had to fight this giant frog, and they all thought it would be a walk in the park, but then it swallowed Pomni, and the simple encounter turned into a fight for Pomni’s fucking life because Pomni was actively suffocating inside of it, and Jax wanted to blow up the frog with a magic grenade he had, despite Pomni being in there (he was well aware that she would also take damage), and Ragatha was trying to see if she could heal Pomni from inside the frog, and Gangle ended up Wild Shaping into another frog and begging it to let Pomni go.
Pomni was traumatized.
Caine: who’s done a good job at roleplaying recently?
Kinger: well, Pomni did have a panic attack
