What is one of her myths?

The Myth of the Lily of the Valley

It is said that a beautiful princess named Calvalia from a lost kingdom in the east (once known as Atlantis) drank a tonic of this poisonous flower to escape an arranged marriage. Moved by the lengths she went to find escape, the West Wind Zephyrus resurrected her as one of his kin and brought her with him to Mt. Haemus. It is believed that where her tears fall, a lily of the valley sprouts in its place. Thus, the delicate white blooms began to thrive in the lands of Ancient Greece.

These flowers would catch the attention of the God Apollo, who was intrigued by their unique appearance and medicinal qualities. Following a trail of them led him to the weeping anemoi, whom he comforted with a song. They formed a bond as they sang together, and having won her trust and affection, she pledged her loyalty to serve him on Mt. Olympus. His fondness for her flowers, the lily of the valley, would also earn it the name “Apollinaris.”

*some versions of the myth claim that Apollo took Calvalia from Mt. Haemus to spite Zephyrus, who had caused the death of his lover Hyacinthus.

So the Anemoi (wind gods - correct me if I'm using that incorrectly) lent me a helping hand a few minutes ago!

I had to carry a couple of boxes that were delivered inside from the back porch. Knowing that my hands were going to be full, I closed the door behind me (as not to let out the two dogs in the house), but I didn't latch the door either so that it was easy for me to just push open.

I grabbed the boxes and was on my way to the door when the door opened up for me, via a gust of wind, just as I approached.

Immediately struck with a bit of surprise, I smile a bit and go, "Huh. Thanks!" and proceed on my way.

Unfortunately, I do not worship Zephyrus nor do I have any experience with him. I did do some brief research about him for you, though!

I do, however, have some information that I can share that may help you! This is stuff I am finding online through various sources; I'm mostly trying to stick to historical sources.

Zephyrus

• Frankincense is a common offering for all Anemoi

• You can find hymns written to the Anemoi among the Orphic Hymns (hymn 80 is specifically for Zephyros)

• Zephyrus, the West Wind, is considered the gentlest of the four winds and is a bringer of spring, carrying seeds on his winds and warming up the earth

• Here is a prayer to the four winds, including one specifically for Zephyrus, that I found

• General Hellenic offerings that can be given to most gods (including Zephyrus) would include clean water, wine, milk, cheese, grains, fruits, veggies, olives, bread, meat, olive oil, and figs

• There are no historical festivals for Zephyrus (or any Anemoi), but people typically celebrate him with the coming of spring, specifically the spring equinox

• Offerings you can give to Zephyrus would be feathers (always clean ones found in nature first), flowers (especially those that bloom in spring), unripe fruits, swan imagery, horse imagery, and tiger imagery

• He is married to Khloris (Chloris), goddess of greenery, according to Ovid (the Dionysiaca also claims Iris, goddess of rainbows and messenger of Hera, to be his wife)

• His children are said to be Xanthos, Balios, Eros, Pothos, Areion, Karpos, literal tigers, and literal horses

• Some of his known epithets (based mostly on what I could find in the Orphic Hymn and Theoi.com's mentioned sources; I couldn't find the original Greek, so it's just in English, sorry) are Sea-born, Aerial, Unseen, Lightwinged, Richest of all Winds, Brightening, Nimble God of Wayside Shrines, Golden-haired, Rapid, Swift, Gentle, Kindly, Lightest of all Things, Storm-blowing, Blustering, Stormy, Straight-flown, Strongly Blowing, Light (as in "light as a feather"), Earth-born (gigantos; only translated word I found), and The Gentle Breeze

just like. my thoughts so:

honestly the whole "they will love you no matter what bc You're destined" is a lil awkward cause of the whole free will to choose vs security in fate thing goin on there

but like other interpretations i've seen recently are more like "you are destined to be in each other's lives now take it from here, do what you want, or don't" is a lil more complex cause like it can be any kind of relationship yknow? something as simple as passing by each other and saying hi or going on some drawn out mission that ends with the two protecting each other etc etc.

i think one of my fav aus are the ones where whatever someone draws or writes on themselves will show up on the other in the same spot bc imagine you're going about your day and someone's cheat sheet shows up on your hand but you're in the same class. or you see lil doodles or an intricate art piece spread across your hand like dang

What are the different types of dragons or draconic creatures on your world, where did they each come from, what defines them, and what are their actual taxonomic groups? I know some of your dragons seem to be fish while others are mammals, and they're made by different gods?

AH! I just finished making a little powerpoint with everything actually-- I can add the file real quick for an easy way to see the info of all the Anemoian animals i've made so far. Make sure to look in the notes for their description and not just on their slides.

There is some more specific answers to your question bellow

All animals were made by Gods, cause man, creationism is fun when its a bunch of idiots bickering at eachother and trying to one up one another.

There are 4 types of draconic animals. (Draconic in this sense is like calling every small animal a bug. Its a term that only originally meant animals created by Exitium but has since expanded due to similarities in the animals.)

Old Dragons Drakes Pinnae Dragons Wyvern First, or Old dragons are an old sentient, reptilian species that was made by the fire god, Exitium. They were prominent when he ruled over Anemoi. These are only shortly mentioned in the powerpoint since theyre pretty much non existent by the time my stories take place. They were partly wiped out by a parasite caused by another god, and then almost entirely wiped out after Exitium went into dormancy. They fed off magic entirely and they were Homeotherms. Their bodies stayed at a consistently hot temp. They laid eggs

Drakes. Drakes were made along side the first dragons as a sentient species that fed off magic. They survived the great dying however, eating the flowers that grew on the mountain side after Exitium went into dormancy. Drakes, like Dragons were reptilian and their bodies were hot to the touch from magic consumption. When minor gods began to show up to take over the godless land, they were taken by them and changed into various animals to fit a variety of niches. There were once perhaps way more but over time some lineages went extinct, others were domesticated, and others went on to become the Drakes known to Anemoians. The old drakes use to breathe fire but modern ones instead have had their fire breathing capabilities turned into venom. Modern Drakes are on a metabolic spectrum. Some, like the fruk or ditch drake are ectotherms while Pero are endotherms. Most are warm blooded endotherms due to their size and need to stay active throughout the year. At some point ill have to do a little write up on Anemoian weather! I think ill actually do that for next months power point thing I do with friends. Most drakes are ovoviviparous, but some like the Fruk or Ditch drake also lay eggs.

There is one outlier, the Pop drake, who was created passively by Exitium when he went into dormancy. When his blood spilled, it covered the mountain in orange flowers that fed off his magic. These pop drakes eat these flowers. Pop drakes are homeotherms.

Pinnae dragons are dragons made by Pinna, Exitiums successor to God of Anemoi. After he took over the lands from the minor gods, he made Pinnae dragons. They all have a similar body plan thats close to how Pinna looks. They are all mammalian, giving live birth and feeding their young with milk. There is Major Pinnae, who are large and can breathe a chemical fire. These are important in Anemoian mythology and then the Minor Pinnae who are small animals and lack fire. You can see more info in the power point

Wyverns are a weird case. In Rrymes mourning; thinking Exitium was dead, she coped by creating her own dragons. She used a fish and with some suggestions from the fates (the oldest deities, there before earth was destroyed and recreated) she created pterosaur like animals with some very strange features. She created 3 wyverns, one for her shores and islands, one for the rivers of Anemoi, and one to watch over the grave of Exitium. They are all ectotherms, with the exception being the mountanious inland wyverns. Because they eat pop drakes, which eat pop flowers, which eat magic and ichor, they are homeotherms. The magic they consume keeps their body at a very warm temp.

I think thats it for the animal dragons. The rest of the dragons are in themselves gods, minor gods, demi gods or otherwise!

I'm not a huge podcast person, but Welcome to Night Vale is so iconic, revolutionary, and genre redefining that I had to give it a listen and I thoroughly enjoy it. I'm not caught up by any means, but Cecil and the town of Night Vale is a comforting place and just a lovely story. Since I live in the american southwest its also fun to exist here and just be like... Night Vale is set here...so that's a fun extra layer :)

17. Have you ever attended Pride in a big city/ large metro area?

I wish! I was planning to get together and go with a handful of people (when I had an irl social life) a few years back, but covid shut everything down and I haven't thought about it since. I might attend this year, and might even volunteer with things. I'm not quite sure, but I think it'd be very nice to go someday

The park had always been meaningful to Kay, but now it was even more so, staring at Renee from his spot in the shade as she went around picking flowers with a bright smile. The wind ruffled her hair - pulled neatly into a half-braid - in a way that he could only describe as magical.

She straightened, coming towards him with a handful of flowers before sitting next to him, showing them how to weave the stems into a crown.

Their attempt was messy. She put it on as though it was made of the purest gold and rarest jewels anyway.

He reached out, grabbing her hand and pressing a gentle kiss to the back of it. Her laughter rang like bells, but she inched closer to him regardless, mischief shining in her purple eyes.

"We should kiss like real people do," she whispered, a teasing lilt to it. Kay leaned in despite it, wrapping his arms around her neck as she wrapped hers around their waist.

It was short, chaste, sweet. It was the most magical thing he had ever felt.

STORYTELLER SATURDAY!!! top ten chien facts?

Oh this ones fun. I wont put them in order, but heres some of the funnest facts

Crown Chien's name is in parallel to Monarch Caleb's. They both have meanings to do with dogs. Chiens name also means someone who kept hunting dogs and money. His middle name is Mirka after his mother. That name means glory and peace. Aeraki of course means breeze/wind and has been the Anemoian royal families last name since its beginnings.

Chien was crowned at only 12 and a half. He was not expected to know everything yet, and his uncle Iasis became his regent until Chien was 16 and well tutored. He remained accompanied to various meetings with other nation leaders until he was 18, after then he was independent from Iasis and only took who he needed to.

Chien has been divorced twice before his current wife. He was married for politics once at 13, and again at 16. His first wife tried to kill him and his second, convinced he was going to be just like his dad, was unloyal to him and uninterested in Chiens wellbeing.

Chien has always been best friends with Ilonia. She had been in junior guard as early as she could be put in and she is the daughter of the head knight, Kurtys Lutalo and Lady Taifun Euphemia-Lutalo. She has always been given a spot of high recognition from Chien, and she helps train Chien in self defence. She is a very high energy, quick and aggressive swords-woman while Chien plays a hard defensive and got extremely good at it through sparring with her.

Chien use to be friends with Ilonia's brother, Fluvius jr, before Kurtys died. After Kurtys died and Fluvy began acting out, their friendship waned and then turned into hating each others guts. When Chien's parents disappeared and were considered dead, and then Xavier died, Chien grieved heavily. These two are a foil to one another in a lot of ways. Both lose people in really horrible ways, but Fluvy goes off the deep end while Chien is basically forced to maintain his appearance and behavior despite the heavy loss hes feeling. He is now Crown/King after all, and the responsibility of his nation is on his shoulders. While Fluvy jr can go wild and free and do as he pleases... He gets after Chien often for having such an old soul and his need to be an adult so early in his life, giving him hell for not letting himself just relax and act his age. Later, when Fluvy jr grows up, he does something that drives Chien to act out finally. It results in the loss of Fluvys arm. In his twenties, Fluvy is taken under Jeremias' wing to train as a bloodletter. He has blood powers, and he becomes an sequential part of Chien's medical team. Chien is and has always been very sick. He has bad asthma attacks and heart issues, which (ACTUALLY) is helped by controlled bloodletting. They start to actually respect eachother then and once more are close.

Chien is terrified of his own powers. He has lightning in him much like his mother, and his paternal grandfathers before him. His lightning is very volatile and the few times he has used it against someone it has caused severe damage. He has to work on his confidence with it for a long time before he can use it in a less explosive manner. His wife, Sinclaire, manages to help him realize a lot of the issues are a mental thing rather then the fault of his powers. He gets too riled up before using it, but if he relaxes prior he can have a lot more control.

Chien's Chelat was a gift from his father when he was 5 and beginning to show signs of asthma. The Chelat was young and trained to detect changes in heart-rate. It wiggles its quills, stomps, and makes a fuss when it detects any large changes. Originally, Mav tried to gift Chien a Pero flag dog, but he was uninterested in raising one of the pups

Chien dresses very unlike his predecessors on most days. He likes a snug long sleeve, well fitted pants, and his uncle's cloak over anything else. He often doesn't even wear a sash like most Anemoians, electing to tie it to a belt instead. The black cloak he wears is 33 years old by the time he is born. It is well maintained by Xavier and Chien keeps it in immaculate condition until the day he dies. He is buried in that cloak when he dies at 62 and the cloak is 95. By then, he has likely stopped wearing the cloak as the threads have worn so thin, but he keeps it in his room.

Chien is very Midonian in his beliefs and comes off as a very modest, religious man. However, Chien has his moments where he is really just like his dad. He hires 3 different consorts before he meets his wife, Sinclaire, and he fools around with one of his doctors, Kid. Just like Mav for real... He of course stops all that when he marries Sinclaire, but hires his 3 consorts within the castle doing various jobs. Lucius as his attendant and stylist, August as a cook (who would rise the ranks to head chef) and Niomi, who was learning to be a physical and mental therapist like her father, as part of the infirmary team (essentially taking her late fathers role)

Chien is a pacifist for most of his reign and relies heavily on established legal systems, but after a lot of shit goes down and he struggles to use this system effectively, he decides to go above it to bring justice down upon various people including one of his own sons and a magistrate he had been trying to convict for years. He hangs them publicly for their crimes

Bonus: Chien has 9 children with Sinclaire :) several sets of twins but otherwise, yikes. His wife wanted a huge family as well. Chien mainly wanted a huge family so he could repopulate the Aeraki family as they were running out of legitimate heirs.
