Like I can’t believe that the Antaam splitting away from the Qun had such little political impact on the world and the only reason it happened is because they needed to give the player characters someone to kill without us thinking about it too much.

Reminds me of an hbomberguy video I watched where he was talking about fallout new vegas and was comparing how new vegas treated supermutants versus how 3 treat them. NV gave them life- personalities, histories, emotions, background- while in 3 they were a stupid brute of an animal to shoot down and move on.

The qunari had the potential to be endlessly fascinating as a culture that stands so aside from any other in Thedas. Even if you wanted to go down the brutal military dictatorship storyline- which you could do well by commenting on individuals within that story- the leads chose to instead make the qunari into fodder instead of developing something interesting. It’s a very conservative, “they are bad because they are not us” mentality on both ends that I’m sick and tired of

“I’ll never forgive the Arcane writers for making Vi a cop look at how she hated enforcers when she was younger” YOU STUMBLED ON THE PLOT AGAIN. THAT WAS THE CHARACTER ARC.

A large theme of Arcane is what we owe our children and how our decisions affect how they grow up and what they do. Vi had Vander to look up to. She saw how he dealt with what he had to deal with, heard him say that you sometimes have to put down what you think is right in order to do what is better for the group. Her becoming an enforcer was a manifestation of that- keep in mind there was a point where Vander would also never collaborate with the enforcers to keep Zaun safe, but he did it eventually because it brought a fragile safety to his people.

One of Vi’s defining character traits is that she’s a lover. She loves the people she loves fiercely, and will do reckless and poorly thought out things constantly if she thought it meant people she cares about get to stay safe. She’s desperate and impulsive about it, not wanting to repeat what she thinks is her past mistakes. She never WANTED to be an enforcer. She saw it as her best choice to keep the people she loves (Caitlyn) safe. Also, at that point, Loris- an enforcer- was her only constant friend. She loves him too and his existence humanizes the enforcers for her.

She’s “given up” on Jinx at that point (she didn’t, she’s reeling from who her sister became and struggles with the guilt of leaving her to turn out the way she did), so the only person left in her life she can fight with and for is Caitlyn (I’m not counting Ekko because he can very much handle himself with his firelights). So that’s what she does.

Her becoming what she hated was a deliberate choice for her character arc. It says something about her as a person and about her role as a character in a story about desperation. It’s not a mistake or an overlooking of her character- it was done on purpose to make a point.

I think this wouldn’t have been as big of an issue if the devs actually had an opportunity to expand on everything they sat up, which they absolutely didn’t.

I personally don’t have an issue with this kind of storytelling, especially since we knew in inquisition that the story wasn’t over and there’s more to discover. If anything this makes me really sad for the story we never got told.

one of the weakest parts about dragon age inquisition (that veilguard worsens in hindsight) is that either none of the decisions you make matter or...they're there to set up the next game.

Oh man, the first two are definitely my/my Sims thing. But properly-sized telescopes and microscopes are hard to vote against.

To say I’m heartbroken by what happened with BioWare and EA regarding dragon age would be an understatement- however, at the same time, I saw it coming a million miles away.

From the development hell DA was put through, to the final result not having DLCs, to the final result also being a shadow of the previous instalments in the series in terms of writing and gameplay- it was clear to me they wanted dragon age done and finished as fast as possible.

I’m sorry, but I really didn’t like Veilguard. I loved it at first play through, and my opinion sharply declined on my second. It felt like a shadow or a mockery of the games I love. It felt like the equivalent of giving your kid sibling an unattached game controller and letting them play just to shut them up.

The game spent so long trying to be cinematic that it forgot to be good- or rather, it never had a chance to be good. It just needed to be shiny and it needed to sell. That’s the shape of all things lately- and it makes me rage and it breaks my heart.

More importantly, the people fired are going to have an incredibly hard time getting employed again. I know Trick Weeks was talking about how difficult it was to afford raising a child in Canada, and now both they and their partner are unemployed.

What EA and BioWare did to dragon age was cruel on multiple levels. I hope one day we live in a world that allows these stories to be told by people who love to tell them, who get compensated well for telling them, and in a way that is authentic to the story itself and not to any speculative market.

You know what got me about Solas…. The prison he’s in in Rook’s mind is designed specifically to torture him. It’s a hell of his own making, constantly surrounded by his regrets.

He assumes Rook would deal with it just the same as he did: by wallowing in misery and despairing.

It was pride that didn’t let him see that Rook’s regrets won’t necessarily weigh them down like they weighed him down. Projection- what pain is worse than this? And handed to someone who has not had millennia to dwell on their actions?

Alternatively: he was just buying time and hoped that Rook wouldn’t get out too soon. In this case, I wonder how long he thought he had

Well Simblr, here is my last post of 2019! What a fucking mess this year was in my personal life but if anything was for sure a positive from this year, it was creating my Simblr. This has been a fun journey seeing all your beautiful sims & reading yalls crazy good stories (yes I actually read them!). I’m so glad to be here with y’all & I look forward to seeing what my beautiful fellow Simblrs come out with in 2020❤️ I’m very happy with who I’ve met on here & I feel like I made a good decision joining Simblr this year. I hope to continue sharing my sims & all that with y’all!

So with that being said I would like to set some 2020 Simblr Resolutions. Some are easy to come & some will take some practice & time. But here it goes!

1.) Interact more with other Simblrs. Don’t allow my social anxiety get the best of me & actually go out and make friends with other simmers

2.) Learn & FINALLY make some custom content for y’all. From clothing, hair & poses. This is a learning process but it is a true goal of mine!

3.) Actually committ to storytelling & STICK TO IT. Give myself some time to write it out. Even if my stories aren’t captivating & amazing like my fellow simmers on here, but something easy to follow & something yall can catch on about my sims (because girl, there’s story & tea in my game!)

4.) Get better at building & sharing more of my builds on the gallery

5.) Be kinder to myself. Personally I’m my biggest critic. I often tear myself down of my work & physically slap my head hard because I get frustrated with myself a lot because of reasons I could go on forever listing. I didn’t know until this year that I had a problem doing that to myself, but I’m working very hard to quit doing that. First of all it hurts, it’s harmful to me & it needs to stop. So right now I’m promising myself NOT to do that anymore. With my mutuals as my witness!

Welp sorry for the long post. I tried to keep it short & sweet (and I failed at that lol) but I wish all of you beautiful people for blessings, growth, love, happiness & acceptance in 2020. You’re all great writers & people...so please keep going. Love y’all❤️
