Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I had to do my Beauty and the Beast show. But anyway, here's a random headcanon dump for an idea I had.
They gave Melody a tamagochi bro fr.
-Holy Crap, you already know Melody is gonna love it with all her heart. Possibly even more than her friends.
-She names him Captain Sprinkles, cuz why not?
-She takes him around everywhere and just shows off everything he does to everyone.
Melody: Felix! Look what Captain Sprinkles did!
Felix: Why are you showing me Captain Sprinkles taking a shit?
-Andy's the one who got her the thing and he's starting to regret it.
-If she can't take care of him, she usually make Claus do it.
Melody: Claus, can you take care of Captain Sprinkles please?
Claus: Why do I always have to do it? Why can't Felix?
Melody: Do you really think Felix can keep him alive?
Claus: Fair point.
-Melody went as far as to make Claus Captain Sprinkles' Godfather. That's how much she loves this thing.
-Now when Captain Sprinkles DIES. That's when things really get interesting.
-Andy's just chillin when he hears Melody scream "NOOOOO!!" and then start crying. Then rushes over and:
Andy: Melody! What happened?! What's wrong?!
Melody sobbing: CAPTAIN SPRINKLES IS DEAD!!!
Andy: ...
-Girl hosted an entire funeral for a toy.
-She made everyone wear fancy black clothes and played those sad songs you usually see in memes.
-She wrote an entire speech and didn't even make it half way without bursting into tears on the altar.
-Everyone tried to act sad and sympathetic, but they were all either just... didn't care, or they were laughing on the inside. *Cough cough* FELIX- *Cough cough*
-They all felt bad for Melody, cuz they don't like seeing her sad obviously, but still-
-Melody ended up actually burying the tamagochi, and she made a weird little thing to lower it into the hole.
-She was sobbing her eyes out during the burial, and everyone had different reactions.
Margaret: Thinks this is stupid, but still tries to awkwardly comfort Melody.
Claus: Just... Stares at this all happening.
Andy: "Bro, I spent money on that-"
Felix: Desperately struggling to not laugh. (He ended up excusing himself from the funeral multiple times)
-After the burial, Melody asked Captain Sprinkles' Godfather to say a few words.
-Bro came up with the awkwardest speech ever. (Felix ended up recording it)
-Andy and Margaret were just... trying not to laugh.
-Poor Claus was just... So embarrassed.
-Like imagine, being the Godfather to a toy and then having to speak it's funeral.
-Melody thought it was beautiful.
-Peter just coming to haunt Andy again and then sees him at a funeral for a Tamagochi.
-He ended up just watching from behind. Just like, sitting there and eating popcorn.
-After the funeral, Melody spent a day mourning in her room.
-Then ended up building a little altar for him. She put a sailboat on top to honor her little Captain. (God, why am I crying now?)

Day 3: Hollywood Studios
I woke up today at 4am and couldn’t get back to bed. I had a test due this week so I headed down to the community center and completed it. I played some Overwatch and then went back to bed for a little and passed some time until my parents arrived for the day.
We arrived at the park right as it opened and headed to our first ride: Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad. A new favorite of mine! The technology used was fascinating and something I will try and figure each time I go. The other ride I felt similarly about was Rise of the Resistance. This was on a much larger scale or WOW that I can’t describe unless you go for yourself and experience it. We were able to go in every single ride and do so leisurely. The park’s crowd was mild for spring break (again).
For lunch we had some hotdogs. I can’t remember the name but it’s the sailboat near the blue dinosaur. And for dinner we ate at Round up Bbq. A unique family style bbq experience where you are considered a “toy” and have to be still when Andy come looking to play.
I could write more I’m sure but it’s not 11:30pm and I feel like I’m crashing out lol.
I will remember this day for a very long time. It was so special having my parents with me at what’s soon to be the place I get to go to work at. I love them so much and they truly mean the world to me. They even wore matching shirts!🥺

Review of the 1st Imaginary Symphony for Nomad, Flagpole, 15 September 1999.
[source]
transcript:
THE MUSIC TAPES 1st imaginary Symphony For Nomad Merge
Imagine early Sebadoh tracks being played by a six-year-old peaking on acid on primarily Fisher-Price instruments, and you might be on the way to envisioning the sound of the Music Tapes, a side project of Neutral Milk Hotel's Julian Koster. Blending childish fancy and fantasy with technically deft lo-fi production, 1st Symphony For Nomad is an odd-yssey, following Nomad, the creation of an inventor, as he develops in a Lewis Carrollesque realm.
Included with the CD is a comic-strip insert as a visual aid that the listener can follow as the album progresses; strangely enough, the album makes more sense with it.
This album leapfrogs from mood to mood, almost languidly, never rushing itself. A track like “Song Of 100 Castles” keeps it simple, consisting of only Koster’s childlike vocals, while the next track, “What the Single Made the Needle Sing,” jumps into full pop orchestra mode, with the same sort of hallucinogenic horn-based melodies that make Neutral Milk Hotel's sound so textured. It's also scary that “Song for the Death of Parents” is as catchy as it is, with its thrashy, sing-a-long feel.
Koster’s instrumental choices make the whole mix come to life, edging away, in most cases, from the traditional guitar/bass/drums setup, opting instead for accordions, eerie horns and toy piano. The whole effort is bolstered by the helping hands of Eric Harris, Andy Sailboat, J. Nigh Magnum, and Robert Carter, among other Elephant 6 players.
A note of caution: this album is exceedingly strange, and those not familiar with the cadre of Elephant 6 bands in town may want to opt for something less bizarre for a first taste. However, those who are used to these flavors of fairy tale narrative found in the music of Elf Power and Neutral Milk Hotel will find new dimensions to appreciate here. “The stars were bright, Fernando/They were shining there for you and me/For liberty, Fernando/Though we never thought that we could lose/There’s no regret...”  I enjoy the exceptionally well-crafted pop songs of ABBA.  So I watched both “Mamma Mia!” and “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” for the music rather than the plot.  I was especially looking forward to “Fernando.”  Finally it arrived, near the end of the second movie.  Cher (along with Andy Garcia) did a fine rendition of this masterpiece of popular music.  The brilliant lyrics inspire reflection on life, love and war: “We were young and full of life/And none of us prepared to die...”  (Photo taken on May 2, 2019)

Books, Rejected
It is actually a little difficult to document my reading when I’ve become something of a picky reader :D I realized scrolling around in my reader apps today that I’ve started a bunch of books I didn’t finish, so in the spirit of at least proving I did read something...
The Henchmen of Zenda by KJ Charles -- recommended to me because I was enjoying The Prisoner of Zenda; that’s an older book, and Charles wrote Henchmen as a different POV on the same story, as a gay romance between two of the supporting characters. Which is fine, and I like KJ Charles as an author generally speaking, but if I’m going to read a romance at least one of the characters had to be likable, and -- I think Detchard is meant to be but I find him very unpleasant, and Rupert I don’t even think is meant to be likable. I stopped reading and skimmed a bit, then gave up.
Carved from Sand by ML Buchman -- The central conceit of this one is a romance by two childhood friends, who drifted apart in their youth, and now one is a sailboat racer and the other is a sandcastle sculptor. Which...wild, and not uninteresting to me! But also it was taking a really long time to get anywhere and there was a supporting character we’re clearly not supposed to like who I found the most engaging of any of them, so I put it aside.
Mount Chicago by Adam Levin -- oh this was the most self-indulgent, dull twaddle. The summary sounded so good -- a natural disaster devastates Chicago and some of the residents need to work out how to survive together, including a Jewish protagonist -- but man it was like watching someone you don’t find attractive jerk off. There’s just not a lot there to inspire.
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir -- I loved The Martian, book and movie both, and Project Hail Mary was recommended to me because a) it’s by the same author and b) it actually does the “waking up with amnesia” trope really well, after I’d been complaining about Nine Princes in Amber. Project Hail Mary is a great book that I had to stop reading because it’s also really dark -- funny dark, very like The Martian -- and I reached a point where I had to look up the plot summary because I couldn’t stop being anxious about the ending. The second half of the book looked like it would...not be great for me. So regrettably I put it back. But the first half is really good! And I’m sure the second half is too, honestly, I just didn’t think I’d handle it well.
But now I’ve got volumes 3-5 of Spy x Family, and it continues to be very funny and sweet, so I’m sure I’ll finish at least one of those volumes...:D

My Overall Rating: 5/5 ★★★★★
Scare Rating: 4/5 ★★★★☆
Suspense Rating: 4/5 ★★★★☆
Gore Rating: 3/5 ★★★☆☆
This is one of my all time favorite horror movies but if you're afraid of clowns, this is not the movie for you. Based off of Stephen King's 1984 novel the screen adaptation was written by Chase Palmer, Cary Fukunaga, and Gary Dauberman and directed by Andy Muschietti. The storyline of this film kicks into action when Georgie Denbrough chases his paper sailboat, made by his older brother Bill, down the flooding street where it falls into a gutter. Inside this gutter is none other Georgies unfortunate fate at the hands of Bill Skarsgard's Pennywise the Dancing Clown. The next summer we meet Bill's friends Richie, Ben, Eddie, Stan, Mike, and Beverly. Ben is quite interested in the seemingly patterned disappearances of children in their small town of Derry, Maine. Ben is targeted by a group of bullies but manages to escape leaving Patrick, one of the bullies, to look for him in the sewer but he is soon taken by Pennywise and is never seen again. On Bill's way home from the store he goes into an old abandoned house because he believes he saw his little brother Georgie, who soon turns into Pennywise telling him "You'll float too". This experience made the gang realize that they were dealing with a child killing clown who comes to Derry to feed every 27 years. Will Bill and the gang defeat Pennywise once and for all? Stream "It" on HBO Max to find out.
Cast: Bill Skarsgård, Jaeden Martell, Finn Wolfhard, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs

**** Another of my TOG minifics. Joe x Nicky ****
Nicky woke suddenly, unsure what had pulled him out of sleep. It was still dark outside and he hadn't had a nightmare. Then it registered that the bed behind him was cold and empty.
Over the past few weeks—after Merrick and Booker and Copley—Nicky had only fleetingly noticed that Joe had begun separating himself. He stayed back when they walked and kept out of conversations unless directly addressed. Nicky had been so distracted by Andy and Nile that he let himself believe Joe was only taking extra time to adjust to having Nile with them. Now, Nicky was starting to realize his mistake.
Joe was so outwardly explosive in his joy and his anger that it was easy to forget how deeply his emotions truly ran. Nicky was more pragmatic and able to channel his negative thoughts to something useful, like caring for Andy or training Nile. Joe tended to internalize and often allowed his emotions to swirl into a dark maelstrom that was difficult to escape without help.
Nicky stayed in bed for another minute, but the house remained still and quiet. He slipped out from under the blankets and out of the bedroom. He passed the empty bathroom as he walked through the hall, then down the stairs into the small living room. The remnants of the fire they'd lit in the fireplace provided just enough light for Nicky to see Joe's sketchbook sitting open in front of the hearth. He stepped closer to crouch over the book and flipped through several pages, all of them blank. Joe never sketched when he was upset, unwilling to bring his darkest thoughts onto the paper.
The barest sound reached Nicky's ears and drew his attention to the far corner of the room. He stood and turned on the small lamp, unwilling to have this conversation in the dark. Nicky mirrored Joe's sitting position, their backs to the wall and knees up for their wrists to rest on. Nicky sat close enough so that their sides touched, but was still able to turn and watch Joe's face. Joe continued to stare, unseeing, in front of him.
"Will you tell me what's troubling you?" Nicky asked.
Joe took a long breath that sounded painful and constricted to Nicky.
"I'm afraid," Joe answered.
"What of?"
"Of loving you so deeply. Of what I'd become if I lost that love."
The words and the pang it sent through Nicky's heart were both familiar and unexpected. It had been so long since either of them had been conflicted about their love.
"Why?" Nicky prodded.
"Booker—" Joe choked on the word and his face twisted in pain. For a moment, Nicky wished that Booker were here so he could see the devastation his betrayal was still causing.
"We cannot understand what drove Booker to do what he did," Nicky reasoned calmly.
"But I can. I can understand because I am no different than Booker."
"No," Nicky replied with vehemence. "I don't believe that despite what you've convinced yourself to think."
"If you hadn't woken from that last shot—"
"If you lost me, you would suffer and never be the same," Nicky conceded, "but you would not turn to cruelty or sacrifice the others."
"How do you know?"
"You forget that my love for you runs just as deep. I know you better than I know myself. I know your heart. I know that you were the first to offer your hand to me in peace. You were also the first to offer me your friendship and then your love. After all the bad we have seen in our lives, I watch you, time and again, lead first with gentleness and I love you more each day because of it."
Joe shook his head. "I am also capable of brutality."
"Yes. So am I. So is Andy. There is always some brutality in fighting. But we have always tried to do some good with what we fought for. That does not make us evil or cruel."
"And Booker?"
Nicky sighed because he hadn't spent any energy trying to understand Booker's actions.
"I cannot explain Booker," Nicky replied honestly.
"He saw our love as salt to his open wounds."
"That is his failing, not ours. We never flaunted ourselves and I will not denounce you to soothe his selfish heart."
Joe finally looked at Nicky, eyes wide with surprise. "You're angry."
"Of course I'm angry. I watched you be stabbed, tortured, and killed several times in that lab. Did you think I wasn't?"
"You didn't act as if…"
"I didn't want to add to Andy's conflict and I've never shown my emotions as outwardly as you. You... do know I love you?" Nicky hated how the end was posed as a question.
"I never doubt it," Joe answered sincerely. He reached out to take Nicky's hand and Nicky's shoulders sagged with relief at the action.
"Then never doubt that your pain won't leave me unaffected." Nicky was beginning to see what had started Joe down this path of self doubt. "I'm sorry if you thought you were alone in your anger. Does it help knowing I feel the same?"
"Yes. I… I thought maybe I was wrong to be angry."
"We have every right to be angry. No matter his reasoning or his pain, there is no excuse for Booker's betrayal. He knew neither of us were looking for death, even if he thought Andy was."
Joe nodded and then sighed. "I want to understand how Booker could do what he did."
"We may never understand."
"I understand his despair. I felt it in that moment before you woke from that bullet."
"But knowing you could feel the same does not make you a reflection of Booker's failings."
"I'm not as sure."
Nicky turned to face Joe fully and gripped Joe's hand in both of his. "I do not lie to you. Do you believe me when I tell you that I've seen nothing in our long lives together that makes me think you're like Booker? And most definitely not like Merrick or Keane or any of the other truly cruel men we've known?"
"I believe you."
"Are you still afraid?"
"Yes. I am."
"I am too," Nicky confessed. "Not of our love, never that. If I lost you… I am most afraid of forgetting, in my grief, of what it feels like to be loved by you."
Joe looked at Nicky as if the thought had never occurred to him. Their fears were different, but rooted in the same place, in the same love. Nicky was confident that neither of them would be willing to discard their love just to keep the fear at bay.
"As always, we are two sides of the same coin," Nicky said and Joe smiled at the sentiment. "It also seems that we still have things to learn after all our years together. I should have voiced my own fears and anger. You are never alone, my love."
"I'm sorry for worrying you."
"I'm sorry for forgetting how deeply you take things within yourself. I've been neglecting you."
Joe shook his head. "The others needed you and it helps you to care for them."
Nicky smiled at Joe's understanding and leaned forward to give his cheek a kiss. "That is no excuse. However, it is repairable. You should get cleaned up while I pack our things."
"Are we switching safehouses?" Joe asked as they both stood. Dawn was just starting to break outside.
"No. You and I are going away for a bit."
"But—"
Nicky kissed Joe to stop whatever he was about to say. "We both need it. Andy is fine. Nile is good for her. They're safe here. We won't go too far or be gone for too long."
"You're sure?"
"Yes, I'm very sure." Nicky hadn't realized how much he wanted time to themselves until he'd said it. He'd been neglecting himself as much as he had Joe.
Joe smiled and leaned forward to give Nicky a lingering kiss before he moved away.
They were close enough to head to the sea, Nicky decided as he watched Joe pick up his neglected sketchbook and head upstairs. Both of them had been born near a coast and the water still had a way of lifting their spirits. Even if Nicky couldn't find them a boat to rent, he'd find a house near enough to the shore that they could let the sounds and smells of the water soothe their souls.
Andy would understand Joe and Nicky's need to be on their own. Nile had been helping Andy find new life, but Nicky and Joe needed time to reaffirm their faith in themselves and each other. Nicky and Joe would return in a few weeks with Joe's sketchbook full of pictures—the small cabin with a leaky roof, the sailboat they'd rented for a few days, a family of stray cats, the view out their bedroom window, and a multitude of Nicky.
Back together, the four of them would cement their friendship and find their way to a new peace.

on your trope quiz, you mentioned symbolism in tgf that i haven't really seen talked about or picked up on myself (lilies, boats, languages, i'm very painfully familiar w the painting stuff lmao). would you mind explaining them, or if you don't want to do that, do you have any posts you've written or read about them? i would love to hear about it, also the quiz was great! hurt my feelings 10/10
I just finally finished the book today so I haven't made any of these posts yet (except I briefly talk about the languages thing here) but I might make posts about the others too because I have lots of thoughts. Short and sweet of it is that lilies get mentioned as being "funeral" flowers and are associated with Audrey's death, but also Boris calls kitsey "a lily" and after the shooting Theo tries to wash away all the evidence with lily scented bath gel and says he "smells like a funeral wreath". The Bible verse "consider the lilies of the field" comes up during his high after that though I'm not sure what the significance of that is if any. Bible references seem to be a motif too.
As far as boats and water, obviously they're associated with the Barbours and Andy and his death but I also just noticed a lot of times where Theo says he feels "unmoored" or like he's on a ship or seasick, or mentions the sailboat painting in his hotel room, or talks about the canals leading him places (though that may have more to do with the theme of fate or pathways or whatever Boris was getting at in that one scene). I could make a proper post about these but this is what I've got off the top of my head lmao.
