V, JoeNicky & Nile
V. An abandoned or empty place.
When Joe pulls the sheet off the couch it kicks up enough dust that it makes Nile sneeze. The couch underneath is old, wooden frame rotting, fabric stained and full of holes where moths have eaten away at it.
“Sorry,” Joe says to Nile when she finally manages to get the sneezing under control. “Didn’t realise it was that bad.” He puts his hands on his hips and looks down at the couch. Nile looks it over.
“There’s no saving that,” she says, wiping at her eyes. She can heal from falling over ten stories, but she can’t get away from allergies.
Joe frowns. “I liked that couch.”
The house is older than anywhere else they’ve brought her, and has been abandoned for long enough that it’s falling apart. But through some trick of posing as their own sons, or something, Joe and Nicky still own it, even if there’s a giant hole in the roof and all the windows are broken. Why they’d decided to come back here, Nile doesn’t know, but it’s a nice enough area, and a good distraction from, well. Everything. Growing back a leg, she’s discovered, is not fun.
From one of the other rooms – she thinks it’s the kitchen, she’s not actually sure where Nicky had wandered to – there’s the sound of something breaking and crashing to the ground, and a muffled curse.
Joe makes a questioning noise in the vague direction of the kitchen. A few moments later, Nicky appears in the doorway, covered in dust. “I am okay,” he says. “But I think we will need to go out to eat tonight.”
“Nothing?”
Nicky shakes his head. “Unless you want to start a fire and go hunt some rabbits.”
Joe grins. “Just like old times, right?”
Nile shakes her head firmly, which makes Nicky smile. She loves them, but there’s no way they’re doing that.
“We can probably clear out enough space in here,” Joe says, gesturing to the floor. “Get the sleeping bags out of the car. Probably have to start a fire anyway, but…”
Nile looks around again while Joe says something to Nicky in Arabic that makes him laugh. The house is falling apart, sure, but it’s structurally stable, and the bones are all there. It could be something. They’ve got time to make it something.
Nicky is the one who goes for pizza in the end – he doesn’t trust Nile and Joe to order it if left to their own devices – while they try to clear out a space in the living room. Eventually, though, after Nile has another sneezing fit, Joe suggests they just take the sleeping bags outside instead, which works out a lot better. He sets about starting a fire with practiced ease while Nile sets out the sleeping bags around it. They’re far enough away from civilisation that she can’t hear cars passing by, which is kind of surreal, and the stars are brighter than she’s ever seen them.
When Nicky gets back, two boxes balanced on one arm and a bottle of wine in the other, he looks over their makeshift camp and laughs. “Just like old times, then?” he asks.
Joe grins. “Except we have pizza.”
“And actual sleeping bags,” Nile says.
“Ah, these modern inventions could never quite match the comfort of a pile of furs,” Joe says wistfully. Nile gives him a look. She’s ninety percent sure that one’s bullshit, but she can never quite tell with him.
Nicky sets down the pizza boxes, and jogs back to the car to grab the pack of plastic wine glasses they’d bought before they got here.
“We should’ve bought marshmallows,” Nile says. “Could have made s’mores.”
“Well, we’ll have to go to the hardware store tomorrow anyway,” Joe points out. “And I think it’ll be a little while before we can actually sleep in there.”
“Tomorrow, then?”
“Tomorrow,” Nicky agrees.

you know there's a real missed opportunity of not making versions of like the real housewives franchise in comics. you look me in the eyes and you goddamned tell me that the real housewives of gotham or central city doesn't fucking SMACK in the dc universe and give atlanta and rhony a run for the crown
#kazoo noises#superhero posting#dc#can YOU IMAGINE how good real housewives of gotham would be? my GOD#better tv than early rhonj! i am so serious that shit would be REVOLUTIONARY!!!! oh the reality tv scholars in superhero universes are#SICK. like. play with me in this space guys. please. gotham is famously corrupt and chockablock of villains and the only good wealthy perso#is basically wayne and affiliates. who despite waynes freewheeling pretty boy idle rich energy is not reality tv trashy (SOMEHOW)#why isnt he on the show? isnt he with a new gal every month? ''guess he never gets passed to the housewife crowd''#one of the season plotlines involves a messy divorce a disgraced mayor and like idk *spins wheel* city comptroller of gotham that happened#during a local election year and the city gathers together for the inside scoop in between this poor fuckin rich lady who while kinda..#sketch (real housewives vibes truly) is still sympathetic and raked over the coals by national media and HEY THATS ONE OF OUR FREAKS! who#has a home renovation. a divorce. her kids! and is really trying the poor gal. crazy season. theres still another plotline#and you KNOW central city breeds folks weird. like gotham has the sketchiness and the weirdness. central city is kitsch#central citys housewives are all balls to the wall wild. theres the workin ladies and the vaguely old money ladies and They Dislike Each#Other but u know they'll circle them wagons when an out of towner gets involved (this is me projecting bc i view central city as superhero#stl) do you think someone ever gets wrapped up in a supervillain plot? just this housewife and the camera guy for bravo out shopping and OH#FUCK! ITS CAPTAIN COLD! and now we got a hostage situation#and you knooooow that whichever speedster comes to save the day is making small talk during the rescue. you just know it.#bet that episode of housewives won an emmy tbh. theres like five different phd dissertations on it. in an oral history of the franchise#someone does fucking bag an interview with the flash about the Captain Cold Episode. its the most peaceful fucking reunion andy ever hosts#dont ask about my opinions about drag scenes in comics im worse about that

Renovations Needed
For @artificial-transmutations
“Wait, you’re serious? Your uncle left you property?”
Andy nodded, “I’m as shocked as you are. But it says it right here. Look!” He handed Michael the paper, “It’s his old club. Not in the best part of town though...”
“Doesn’t matter, we can sell it!” Michael smiled, “We’ve been pretty tight on cash and we could use it for our wedding.” Michael hugged him, “Babe, this is incredible.”
Andy smiled warmly at his boyfriend. Michael was perfect. His smile enough to brighten up even his darkest days. His lean, muscular build highlighted under his tight white shirt. But more importantly, they complimented each other well. Michael’s ambition tempered and strengthened by Andy’s kindness.
“So, let’s go check it out”
_________
Compared to their cozy home, his uncle’s property was on the “bad side” of town. And just as his uncle neglected his body, he did the same to his property. Boarded up and worn down, this place needed a lot of work.
“Geez he let this place go.” Michael said, as the two inspected a broken window, “Fuck, I doubt we’ll get much for this place.” Andy frowned.
The two unlocked the front door, overwhelmed immediately by a moldy smell. The floors were stained, the bar was in shambles, and the walls were dirty. Andy jumped at the sight of a rat.
“What did you say your uncle did again?”
“He ran a club.” Andy replied, “At least until all that smoking caught up to him.” He navigated around some broken glass, “This place was really big back in the day... first gay club in the neighborhood.”
Michael nodded and continued his inspection, “Babe, look at this.” Andy’s eyes fell on a framed picture of his uncle, “Tough looking dude.”
Andy nodded, “That was him in his prime.” Mountainous biceps, a wide back, jutting pecs, bald, a thick beard- his uncle wasn’t someone you messed with. His stern glare could snap a lesser man in two, “He was never my biggest fan. I’m not exactly... tough. Just a ‘wimpy bitch boy’, as he would say.”
Michael frowned and kissed his boyfriend, “You’re perfect to me, babe.”
The rest of their inspection was disappointing, but nothing could compare them for the bathroom. Piss stains littered the floors and walls. Urinals were caked in it. There was even one missing- completely torn away from the wall. The smell nearly knocked them out, and they quickly retreated.
“This sucks.” Andy looked over to the photo of his uncle. His stern gaze piercing his soul, “He could’ve really made something of this place.”
“Agreed. It’s a real shame.” Michael replied, “He really fucked up, didn’t he.”
Andy sighed, looking at the picture of his uncle. And suddenly, an idea popped into his head, “What if I clean it up?” Michael let out a laugh, “No seriously! I could get this place straightened up. It would increase the value for sure!”
Michael sighed, “You really think you can do much for this dump?” Andy felt a sudden pang of anger that quickly dissipated before he could process it, “Look babe, I’ll support you. Couldn’t hurt.” He leaned in for a kiss.
_________
“This place looks better already.” Andy whispered as he entered the club the next day.
The club somehow already looked cleaner. Maybe even a little livelier. The smell wasn’t as bad, the floors not as dirty. But there was still work to be done. Andy swept the floor and watched as the grime vanished without much effort. He even dusted the photo of his uncle.
“We didn’t really get along, but thank you.” Andy whispered.
When he arrived home, Michael greeted him warmly, “Hey babe, how’d it go?” He scrunched his nose, “Damn, you stink.” He chuckled, but Andy glared at him, “I didn’t mean anything by it.” Michael replied, realizing his boyfriend wasn’t in the mood.
“I’m gonna go shower.” Andy said, brushing past his boyfriend without even a kiss, “See you in bed.”
In the shower, Andy tried to relax. His muscles were sore from earlier. And as he lathered up, he was surprised to feel small hairs along his chest and stomach. He was usually clean shaven, and these small dark hairs were odd. He thought little of it.
Upon entering the bedroom, he found Michael lying in bed. Naked. A sexy smirk on his face. One that Andy usually couldn’t resist.
“You seem stressed babe.” Michael said, putting his hands behind his head, “And I think I have the solution.” His erect cock was on full display.
“Not in the mood.” Andy replied.
“Bullshit, I heard you moaning in the shower.”
“Not in the fucking mood.” Andy continued. Michael frowned, “I can sleep on the couch if you want.”
“Babe, what’s wrong?” Michael asked, concern etched on his face, “You seem...” He approached his boyfriend.
“I’m fine.” Andy replied, “Long day. Last thing I want is your dick up my ass.” He crawled into bed and faced away from Michael, “You coming?”
_________
The next day, Andy sat in his uncle’s office, rummaging through a desk. Even the office underwent a transformation overnight. The smell was gone, the chair was repaired, and the desk was no longer dusty. Andy scratched his chest and mentally made note that it felt firmer. But his thoughts were interrupted when he found a VHS tape. He raised an eyebrow.
“Shower Time?” He read the label, “What the fuck?” He looked up at the newly repaired TV and VHS player, “Might as well.”
The video started. There was his uncle. Nude. Standing above some guy. Some lesser man. Andy watched closely, absentmindedly rubbing his stiffening cock. And then it started. His uncle pissed on the guy below him. Andy watched as if in a trance, still rubbing his cock. And then it stopped.
“What the fuck?” He whispered, looking down at himself, “I... I’m not into that kinda shit, am I?” The disturbed young man exited the office, “I need to get out of here...” But as he passed the watchful gaze of his uncle’s photo, he froze, “Where the fuck am I going?” He whispered, “I have work to do.”
Hours passed, and Andy’s work was nearly done. He wiped some sweat from his brow, barely registering his newly mountainous bicep. He felt his phone vibrate. Michael. He ignored the call and continued his work.
When he arrived home, Michael wasn’t there- likely at the gym. Andy walked to the bathroom and stared closely at himself in the mirror. Something wasn’t right.
“There we go.” He whispered, pulling out the clippers, “Just a little...” He buzzed away his brunette locks. Shorter and shorter until not a single hair remained, “Better.” He ran a hand over his bald head.
Later, when Michael did return home, he nearly fainted, “What the fuck?” He said, “Andy, what did you do?” Andy looked up and shrugged, “Babe, you’re bald!” Michael knew how much Andy cared about his hair, “Somethings wrong. Please just tell me.”
Andy glared at him, “You got a problem, bitch boy?” Michael’s jaw dropped, “By the way, we’re keeping the club.”
“That wasn’t the plan.” Michael crossed his arms, “What about selling it? We need the cash for the wedding.”
Andy stood up and crossed his arms, “Who gives a shit? Club’s nearly done anyway.” Michael could only watch as his boyfriend got up and left.
_________
Back at the club, Andy sat in his uncle’s office, watching another one of his uncle’s piss videos. The initial disdain for them being replaced by pure pleasure, as he jerked off. But his pleasure was interrupted when the door swung open.
“Andy, we need to...” Michael said desperately, “What are you doing?” Andy smirked and continued to jerk off, “Andy. Cut this shit out.”
“Didn’t take you for a little bitch.” Andy replied, standing up, “You should be fuckin’ happy. I mean look at me.” He flexed his biceps, which now rivaled Michael’s, “And this fuckin’ club is gonna take off.”
“But babe, I don’t want the club.” Michael replied, “Ever since we got it, you’ve been different. Andy please.” And for a second, Andy’s new persona faltered. His boyfriend’s caring eyes breaking through to him. And the kindness returned to Andy’s eyes.
“Michael...” He whispered, “I-I’m sorry.” He stepped forward, “I don’t know what happened.”
Michael smiled and hugged his larger boyfriend, “It’s okay.” He looked down at Andy’s arms, “ But you need to tell me your workout routine.” He said, trying to add some humor to the situation.
Andy shook his head, “Michael... this isn’t right.” He looked at his larger bicep.
“You’re going to be okay. We’re going to be okay.” Michael smiled.
The two started walking down the long hallway to the main floor. Past the furious eyes of Andy’s uncle. And Andy froze.
“Wait babe, I left something in the bathroom.” He said.
Michael nodded, “Okay, I can wait...”
“No, come with me. Please.”
Michael shivered. Something told him to run. There was something different in his boyfriend’s eyes. But he wasn’t gonna leave him. He nodded and the two entered the bathroom. It was still in a state of decay.
“God, smells like piss in here.” Michael laughed nervously, “Guess you haven’t had time...”
Andy shoved him. A forceful push that sent him tumbling against the wall. Falling exactly into the empty slot between two urinals. Michael’s back hit the wall and he winced in pain, looking up at his boyfriend.
“Andy, what the hell...” Michael tried to move, but he couldn’t. He pushed against the wall desperately and looked up at his boyfriend in terror, “Andy, please! You need to help...”
But then he saw it. Andy was frozen, his clothes shredding as his muscles continued to grow. Behind him stood the specter of his uncle, who’s ghostly hands ran up and down Andy’s enlarging body. Andy moaned as his pecs grew into a pair of firm muscle tits and hair finally carpeting his clean-shaven skin in seconds.
“Andy...?” Michael whispered. Andy’s uncle smirked and suddenly Michael was naked. Pressed against the grimy wall of the bathroom.
The young man let out a yelp as he felt the pipe behind him enter his asshole and fuse to it. And he shivered as a sickly cold passed through his body.
“It hurts...” Michael whimpered as his muscles ached.
He looked down and quickly regretted it. His muscles were deflating- retracting into his body. His proud pecs and abs smoothing out, and his brunette locks and body hair fell to the ground below. Michael cried out again as his legs began to shrink and pull up into his abdomen.
“Andy help!” Michael cried out. He could see himself in the mirror. How his human features were starting to disappear, while his skin took on a paler tone. He felt cold. A sickly inhuman cold, “I-I...”
Tears fell from his eyes as he watched his toned arms begin to retract into his body. All the while, Andy was moaning as his own body packed on firm muscle and manly hair. His once clean shaven face now sporting a beard, while his expanding arms grew wiry hairs. In the midst of his transformation, he looked down at his boyfriend.
“Michael...” He whispered, “I-I’m sor...” He moaned as his package expanded, his bulge barely contained in his tight underwear.
Michael open his mouth to reply, but no words came out. Instead, his mouth remained forced open. And he could only watch in terror as it widened and stretched, forming a basin, while his tongue shifted into a urinal cake. Tears streamed from his eyes as he felt piping emerge from the top of his head and connect with the wall behind him. The coldness he felt earlier was now spreading. His flesh fully converting to white porcelain. And the last thing he saw before his vision went black was a final look of terror from Andy, which was soon replaced by the stern look Michael recalled from his uncle’s photo.
And then it was dark. It was cold and he was unable to move. Trapped. Not able to fully understand what happened to him.
“Fuck, I gotta take a leak.” Michael could still hear Andy’s voice, now gruff and harsh. He called out for help in his mind, hoping someone could hear.
But then he felt it. In the cold darkness of his new existence, he felt warmth. And tasted what he came to horrifically realize was piss. And after a minute or two of his old boyfriend filling his new mouth with urine, he felt hands wrap around his handle. The orgasmic pleasure nearly breaking Michael’s mind entirely, but not enough to free him from his new prison. Or awareness. And as the urine was washed away, Michael cried out in anguish as he came to realize his permanent fate.
“Shit that felt good.” Andy grumbled, “Alright, back to work. Opening days in just a week.”
The larger man went to leave, but not before turning back and looking at his new urinal. Something told him he was forgetting something important. A sense of dread filling him. He shook it off and left the bathroom, all under the watchful gaze of his uncle’s ghost.
_________
Opening day would come and go. And night after night, partygoers enjoyed the club and its atmosphere. Unaware of what had transpired there. And while they might not have been aware, Michael was. Day after day, and hundreds of men later. All filling his mouth and sending him into orgasmic pleasure with just a pull on his handle. Leaving him trapped and begging for freedom. But at least Andy would visit him. To use him of course. And only him. Andy couldn’t explain his attraction to that urinal. Nor would he ever realize why.

Secret Spot
Summary: The secret spot.
Pairing: Mobster!Bucky Barnes x Librarian!Reader
Warnings: just fluff, mentions of his business, established relationship
A/N: I love soft mafia Bucky. So, you will all suffer with me...
Part 3
Soft Spot masterlist
“Doll, where are we going?” Bucky sighs as you harshly tug at his wrist.
“You must see this, Bucky. It’s perfect…”
You want him to follow toward a shop, hidden at the end of an alley. He frowns as the store looks a little…shabby. The windows have cracks, the door has seen better days, and in front of it stands a box filled with old books…
“Ah, I get it. You found another bookstore.”
“No!” You drop your hand from his wrist to cup his face with both hands. “Bucky, that’s not just an ordinary bookstore. It’s the one I visited when I was a little girl.”
At that, Bucky smiles. He softly says your name, as you keep on babbling about how much you love the store. “They give away books for free too, look.” You point at the box which has seen better days.
“What did you say last time?” He dips his head to glance at the books. “You cannot buy another book.”
“But…uh…that’s a bookstore, and it’s impolite to not buy a book if you enter it,” you conclude, and batt your eyelashes. “Let's go inside. I’ll show you my secret spot.”
“Secret spot?” Bucky furrows his brows. You are adorable to him when you talk about books and your passion for reading. “Let’s go then. I don’t want to miss the chance to see your secret spot.”
You give him a wink. “To more books,” you smirk. “I knew you’ll love it.”
Bucky follows you inside the bookstore. It looks a little better inside, but not much. The shelves look like they are going to fall apart at any time and we don't want to talk about the wallpapers, carpet, and reading corner. “Y/N, be careful. These shelves…”
“Are my dreamland!” you clap your hands. “Look over there.” Pointing at a spot at the far right you grin. “That’s it. My secret spot.” You whisper. “I used to hide there from the world when I was a kid. And sometimes before I met you. I sat on the ground and read books.”
Bucky’s heart wants to burst as you tell him you didn’t need this place since you met him. “It’s a nice bookstore.”
“It’s a wreck of a store,” the owner clicks his tongue. “But it’s all I have.” The elderly owner says. He has seen better days too. His shirt looks worn-out, and his tired eyes tell Bucky he didn’t seel much lately.
“Doll, how about you look at the books,” Bucky whispers, hoping you won’t get lost between the shelves. “I’ll be right there.”
“More books…more books.” You chant like the bookworm you are. “See you later, Bucky Bear.”
And off you go. Bucky watches you, chuckling as you look over your shoulder to blow him a kiss.
“She’s a nice young woman,” the owner says. “My only constant customer. If not for her, I’d close the store.”
“Hmm…” Bucky looks around the store again. “How much longer can you keep the store open?”
“Not much longer, son,” the man shrugs. “It’s…everyone buys books online or at that fancy new store in town. I can’t keep up, young man.”
Looking at you, happily roaming the shelves Bucky sighs. “What if you get a little help? My girl loves this store, so…what do you need?”
The owner gasps. “I…I won’t lend money from you Sir. I can’t pay it back.”
“That’s not what I had in mind,” Bucky shushes the man. “I’ll help you keep the bookstore open, and make sure people will buy their books here, and you will not give up business as long as you want to run the store. If you ever want to close it, I’ll buy it.”
“Young man,” the owner nods knowingly, “you must love that girl with all your heart if you offer to safe my business.”
“I’d do anything for her.”
“I had someone like her once upon a time too,” the owner says. “If it makes your girl happy, I’ll keep the store open.”
“Deal,” Bucky offers his hands. “I’ll send my lawyer this week. You can tell Andy how much money you’ll need to keep the business running and to do some…renovations…” Bucky hands the owner his car. “If you need help, give me a call.”
“Thank you, Sir…”
“BUCKY! Come here! I’ll share my secret spot with you,” you call for your boyfriend, waving your hands. “Hurry!”
“I’m gonna marry that woman,” Bucky grins. He already got the ring. He just needs to prepare the perfect proposal…

Note: Two in a row?!
As per usual, I humbly request your thoughts! Reblogs are always appreciated and welcomed, not only do I see them easier but it lets other people see my work. I will do my best to answer all I can. I’m trying to get better at keeping up so thanks everyone for staying with me <3
Your feedback will help in this and future works (and WiPs, I haven’t forgotten those!)
Love you all. Take care. 💖
The dullness of the home renovation show does little to combat your fatigue. You watch the drilling and trimming and plastering from behind a glossy curtain, yawning and swaying against Andy. You really just want to go lay down but you don't have the courage to insist on it.
Your eyes roll back only for you to snap your head forward, forcing yourself awake. Several times you feel yourself start to slump to one side. You don't know how much longer you can stay awake.
You feel the air in your nose clog and a rumble in your throat. You're too far gone to catch yourself as you succumb to your exhaustion. You sink into the fuzzy abyss, welcoming the rest for your mind and body.
You sleep without thought, without dreams, or worries. The deep blackness that blurs time and space, the very concept of your existence fading into the void. You forget everything for the dulcet comfort of unconsciousness.
You feel something on your arm. A long, soft caress. It's almost soothing, so subtle and gentle that you're not sure it's real. You moan and sniff through your dry nose.
"Amber?" You murmur, "I'll get up in a minute."
The hand squeezes and you curl your shoulders forward. You're too tired. You just want to sleep forever. You murmur as the touch descends to your elbow and the hand slips down to your stomach, spreading there.
It is much too big to be Amber. And why would she be in the bed with you? Against you? You feel the warmth radiating along your back.
You open your eyes as you're drawn into a stolid embrace. You look down and see the freckled arm around you. Oh. What do you do?
You feel his breath behind your ear, fanning up your scalp. You've never been this close to anyone. Especially a man.
"Andy," you squeak. "Andy…" you grab his wrist as your chest squeezes with panic. He needs to let you go!
"Hmph," he grumbles groggily.
You don't care if he's sleeping. He's touching you. He's got you trapped! You don't like this. You need to get away.
You need to sleep on your own. You need space. You need to be alone!
"Andy!" You squeal and dig your nails in as he hugs you tighter, "get off!"
You writhe as your voice piques. You flail as he keeps a hold of you. He shifts but doesn't let you go. You throw your elbow up and twist around, the impact cracking hard as you're released at once.
You hit the floor as Andy grips his cheek and grunts. You gasp as you realise what you've done. Oh no! You never meant to hurt him.
"Ow," he hides his face behind his hand, "dove…"
"I'm s-sorry," you stutter, dizzily getting your feet under you, "I didn't mean to–"
You step forward as he peeks out between his fingers. The hurt in his eyes gives you pause and you wince. Oh god!
"S-s-sorry!" You clap your hands against your cheeks and spin, "I'm sorry! Please! Don't be mad–"
You run without looking, without thinking. You hit the edge of the couch as you race frantically out of the room. You stumble up the stairs, not looking back as you fear he might be after you. That you may have just pushed him too far. But you deserve it, don't you? You hit him first.
You burst into the guest room and scramble to lock the handle. There is no mechanism. Shaky and terrified, you get on the other side of the dresser and push it with your shoulder. It scrapes over the floor until you have it across the door.
You slide down and curl yourself into a ball on the other side, heart beating wildly. No, no, no. Stay out. Stay out!
You can hear his footsteps coming up the stairs and his barely repressed groans. There's a tap on the other side of the door before the handle turns and the dresser lurches but doesn't give. You whimper and cover your head.
You remember the way the chair leg smacked against your head, how the blows came down over and over, on every part of you. You remember how it left your breaths rattly and your bones screaming. You remember how Amber held you and told you it would be okay.
Where is she? You want her there to promise you that you're safe. You left her behind.
"Dove, please, let me in," Andy says from the other side.
You don't say a word. You gulp as tears spring up. You don't want to remember. Stop!
"Dove, please, I'm not mad," there's friction on the door, "let's talk. What happened?"
You shake your head and ball yourself up tighter.
"Why did you hit me?" He lowers his voice.
You let out a sob. You don't know why. You didn't mean to. It never matters what you meant, it only matters that you're wrong.
"Dove," his voice rises again, "you can't just close me out."
You have no answer for him as you tremble in a heap, trapped between the past and present, paralysed for what's to come.
"Aren't you going to apologize?" He scoffs.
You have no words, no strength, you have nothing but fear.
He hits the door and you yelp, "Dove! Answer me." He snarls, "this is my house."
But he touched you. He was touching you! No, how can you be wrong? If he was touching you?
You're confused. It was an accident and yet you feel guilty. But Amber always says you should protect yourself. So why do you feel so rotten?
He huffs and clucks, "I can wait."
You open your eyes and slow drag your arms down, folding them across your chest. You wait and listen. He doesn't retreat right away, no he lurks outside and for a moment you think he's going to stay there until you come out. When at last his footfalls pad away, you're not relieved.
Eventually, you're going to have to leave that room.
🕊️
Eventually comes in the form of your throbbing bladder. You stand at the door, facing the inevitable, dreading the outside. You shift the dresser inch by inch, trying not to make a noise. You move it only enough to fit through the door.
You peek into the hallway and hold your breath. The evening has come and the house is dark. You creep out, hoping you've gone unheard. You've always been good at being unnoticed.
Until Andy.
You tiptoe over the carpet and glance down towards his door. Your chest twinges with guilt. You hope he's okay. You can only feel the force of your elbow hitting him. You can hear the impact repeating in your head.
You quickly flit into the bathroom and shut the door. You flip the lock up and stand in the dim space. You don't bother with the light switch as you do what you need to and turn the faucet on only halfway to wash your hands.
You take a breath as you face the door. Just a few steps across and you can hide away. You ease it open little by little and let it fall ajar as you see the shadow waiting for you outside. Andy reaches over to flip the overhead light on.
You chew your lip as your eyes sparkle with a sudden wash of tears. You teeter on your toes as the white bulb shines through the glass sconce and illuminates the darkening blemish under his right eye. You did that.
"Andy..." you eke out.
He looks at you, tight-lipped, his own eyes glistening. He takes a deep breath that makes his chest rise and fall. His jaw grits and cheek twitches. He puts his hands on his hips.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. I told you..." you blubber.
He shows his palm, raising his hand as he drops his chin. A long exhale before he lifts his head again. He lets his shoulders fall.
"We need to talk," he says.
"I... know," you hang your head in defeat.
He gestures down the hall and you offer no resistance. You walk ahead of him, keeping your posture low, wanting to shield your head as you expect the worst. He points you down the stairs and follows your descent.
You enter the dining room at his direction and you sit at the table. He pulls out the chair across from you and lowers himself with a sigh. He pushes his hands up his cheeks and winces, leaning his weight on his elbows against the table.
"You hit me," he says staunchly.
You stare at the table, wilting as you bring your feet up onto the seat and hug your legs. You nod.
"I said sorry--"
"Dove," he intones, "you hurt me. And as much as I want an apology, I want it to mean something. I want you to understand what you're apologising for."
"I am so sorry," you bluster as you snap your head up, "really, Andy. I'm so so sorry. I didn't mean to. I would never-- I'm not a mean person."
"You didn't mean to but you did."
"I was confused. You were so close and--"
"You fell asleep. I was keeping you from falling off the couch," he hisses.
"Oh, uh, well, I... I didn't realise--"
"You keep making these excuses. I didn't want to... I didn't want to believe it but I spoke with Dr. Kemp while you were... hiding," he rolls his eyes, "and he agrees with me."
"What?" You heave, nearly choking on tears, "about what?"
"About you. About you're behaviour," he puts his hands down, folding them over the table. You watch the effort he puts into his next words, "about Amber. I didn't want to think about it, to possibly admit it but... she isn't the problem, honey."
"What does that mean?" You wipe your nose, "Andy, what are you saying?"
"Look at me, Dove," he leans in, emphasizing the blotch under his eye, "look what you did."
"But-- but--"
"You take. Everything. People around you give and give and give and they get nothing in return. It's exactly what you did to her. Dove, I want you to get help, but you have to realise, you're not a burden, you're a leech."
You lean back, chest heavy as it hollows shakily. You can barely breath. Why is he saying this?
"No, no, I'm not--"
"You are. You're not stupid so give it up. You know exactly what you've been doing," he insists. His tone is even and hard but not angry. "I know you're not stupid because you know how I feel about you. And you push me away and make me feel like the villain. I'm the bad guy because I love you? Because you made me feel something and I let myself feel it--"
"Love? Feel? Wh-what?"
"Stop pretending you don't know," he snaps, "dove, you just keep hurting me. Look at everything I've done for you. Why would I do all of this if I didn't love you?"
"You love me?" You croak.
"I do and look what you did to me," he waves his hand at his face, "you did this but I'm not going to give up on you."
You bury your face in your hands and cry. Every word is like a knife slicing through you. They always say the truth hurts the most.
"Dr. Kemp is going to help you. He's going to help both of us work through this--"
"I don't understand," you say through your fingers.
"I know you don't, so you need to trust me," he reaches across the table as you open your eyes and tear your hands away from your face, "I can forgive you, this one time. And that's because I love you. Because it would hurt more to let you go."
You shake your head and clutch at your hair, "no, no, no... I never... I didn't mean to hurt you..." you babble, "Andy," you gasp and hit the edge of the table with your hands, "do you mean I hurt Amber?"
He looks down and swallows tightly, "honey, you know what you did. You know it. You have to accept it if you're going to change."
You shudder as the world seems to shrink around you. You really are just as bad as you always thought. All those years in your little bubble, with Amber lying to you, telling you that you're not a monster. She took your abuse and you took everything from her. How could you be so horrible and not even know it?
"I... didn't mean to. I didn't mean to. I didn't... mean to," you chant through thick sobs, "no, I didn't mean to..."
"Shhh, dove," he stands and you make yourself even small in the chair.
You wince as he rounds the table and kneels beside you. He hushes you as he touches your arm, rubbing it gently as he coos at you. You quiet to a hiccuping heave and look at him.
"Are you going to try?" He asks.
You nod and gulp loudly.
"That's good, sweetie," he praises and reaches up to caress your cheek, "Dr. Kemp is going to see us tomorrow and we can do this together."
"Us? Both?" You murmur in confusion as he runs his fingers back down your arm and takes your hand.
"Couples therapy," he explains, "we have to work on our communication."
"Couple... what?" You squint at him, lashes fluttering.
"Come on, dove," he stands and pulls you to your feet, "I told you how I feel, are you going to keep hurting me by pretending you don't feel the same?"
Your lip trembles. Do you feel the same? You don't know. You've never really known. You're just afraid and lost and confused. You don't want to be a bad person.
"You feel bad, don't you? For hitting me?" He asks and you nod, a sob wrenching in your chest, "and you feel bad why?"
You search his face, only looking in his eyes for a second before you can stand no more. You look at his neck and the tendons there, the way it bobs nervously, and the tension set into his shoulders. Your lips part and you puff out a shaky breath.
"Because... I love you?" You squeak the uneven statement through your quivering lips.
"You do but and that means it's going to be okay," he draws you into a hug and you don't fight it. You can't fight something you don't understand, "isn't it, dove?"

On a recent London outing, Styles dressed down in black Under Armour shorts, tortoiseshell Jacques Marie Mage aviators, worn-in Adidas Sambas, and a JW Anderson crossbody bag that Vogue suggested could be a token of interpersonal goodwill, given Russell’s ambassadorship at Anderson’s Loewe. Interestingly, the musician also wore a maroon crewneck printed with the small serif-font logo of Cadogan Tate, a London fine art logistics firm that specializes in transporting valuable objects.
Eagle-eyed Styles fans quickly surmised that the sweatshirt, which is not publicly available for purchase, must be part of the firm’s staff kit. And while an art-handling company like Cadogan would typically assist dealers and auction houses, it seems Styles may too have had some valuables that needed moving.
In an email to GQ, a Cadogan Tate representative confirmed the musician’s maroon sweatshirt “is part of our team-member uniform program. Mr. Styles acquired the garment after a recent project that our team completed with him.”
The rep declined to comment further on the specifics of the project.
Harry Styles is a big art guy. He posed for David Hockney. He gallery hops. He’s been collecting since he was in his early 20s, when his personal holdings reportedly included a small museum’s worth of taxidermy, gun sculptures, and paintings such as an Andy Warhol–style print of Kate Moss. According to UK tabloid the Daily Star, he once tried to commission the covert British street artists Bambi and Banksy to paint frescoes in his home, but was thwarted by the fact that going to a famous singer’s house would have revealed their identities.
x
Given that Harry moved at least some of his belongs out of Erskine last year prior to the renovation that happened there, perhaps it was the art from that house that they helped him with. But, who knows? I’m here for art collector Harry wearing random merch, though.
#Harry’s art#Real estate#cadogan tate#I wonder if they gave him a discount for wearing that merch#I’ll bet they did

have you been to his chapel? any thoughts? 👀
I was there once before the renovation, I'm not sure how different it is (Some lighting differences) but it was a great experience for me.
It's hard to tell anyone what to expect from art. I know people who have actual life changing experiences there and people who were underwhelmed. If you're a fan, I think you will get something rewarding out of it. The sheer size of the artwork all around you is an experience itself.
Most of the complaints I have heard have been that it's too dark in there. I think now it actually is lighter than it used to be , but this is a familiar refrain about Rothko which I heard from a lot of people at the LVF show too. Rothko liked it darker and not everybody does.
Personally, I feel you just need to get used to the light. You get bright light on things, it gives them a certain impact. It exposes detail and contrast. But Rothko thought of it as twilight. He felt you can't see what he saw under too bright light. (ironically at one his first shows he requested bright light from a single, central source and this request was refused, but he never wanted that again).
It is a (nondenominational) chapel and as such the mood is quiet and reflective. You wouldn't go to the Rothko chapel to party (it's not the Andy Warhol Chapel) but Rothko himself would tell you to get whatever you can out of it. That's good advice for any art, I think. You bring yourself and, like music. as you change, the art will change with you offering you new things.

What A Sad Sight
Her (Part 2)
> larissa weems x fem!reader
> requested? no
> content/warnings: angst, self-pity
a/n: after a month of listening to Taylor Swift songs i finally did it! i thought of this fic while in the shower lol. If you want to, you can listen to right where you left me. Another, Andy is played by Charlize Theron. idk, i just like The Old Guard
“Are you sure? You really want to buy that crappy coffee shop?”
Jolting up from your daydream, You looked at Andy innocently. “Hmm? What'd you say?”
“I asked if you really want to buy the Weathervane?”
Giving Andy an incredulous look, you spun in your chair. “Why of course! Larissa loves that café!”
Narrowing her eyes at her boss, Andy decided to cut the conversation short and leave. Yet, before closing the door, Andy turned around. “Are you sure sure?”
You gave Andy an assuring smile. “As sure as I am wanting to marry Larissa.”
Sighing, Andy closed the door and whispered. “Is she though?”
— — —
You sat at the booth you and Larissa first met, where she introduced herself, where you spilled your drink after getting shocked at the beautiful intruder in front of you.
Today was busy, as usual. After buying the Weathervane, you immediately got people to do some renovation to make the atmosphere more like yourself. Of course that didn't mean that you would fire the staff, no you wouldn't. Yet you did want a change in the aesthetics of their uniform, you thought brown didn't accentuate the calmness of the café.
Your thoughts were cut off as the jingling of the bell came, notifying you that a certain tall blonde was now walking towards you. As she sat down, your nerves skyrocketed and suddenly your palms became sweaty.
“Darling, are you okay?” Came from her as she gave you a concerned look. Larissa wasn't a mind-reader, yet she didn't need to be to know you were nervous. That made her nervous as well.
Wiping your hands on your pants, you gave her a reassuring smile. It's now or never. “Yes dear, I'm quite fine. Uh– would you like a drink? I can go get Ty–”
“That won't be necessary, Y/N. I just ate before coming here.” She leant towards you and took your hand in hers.
Chuckling nervously, you gave her hand a squeeze and sighed. “Darling, you know that I love you, right?” Larissa nodded, your affection could be seen by anyone a mile away. You were quite taken with her, the students even started teasing you whenever they would see you with a bouquet of flowers for her.
“Larissa, I've been meaning to ask you this for a while now. We met each other here at the Weathervane two years ago, and after that it's been a bliss with you in my life. You constantly bring me joy whenever I see you. And I want you to know that I appreciate everything you do for me–”
“No.”
Your eyes widened at her interruption. You couldn't believe it, no, you wouldn't believe it. This day was supposed to go smoothly, she was supposed to say yes. You didn't make a plan had she said no, except maybe wallow in self-pity.
She noticed your silence and locked eyes with you. Seeing your glistening eyes, it broke her heart but she had to do it. She had to. Deciding to end your misery, she stood up and left.
You didn't even notice her leave, instead you let your tears fall as you stared at the seat in front of you. You replayed every moment you've been together, trying to find something, anything that would lead to this. Yet all you could think was your second conversation at the very same booth. How she still longed for her friend. How she longed that she chose her instead of her husband.
You decided to leave after hearing a couple whisper, “What a sad sight.”
— — —
“You okay?” From the moment you walked inside your office like a zombie, Andy was there. She saw how you carried yourself to be strong for anyone to not say anything, yet as you closed your office door, you broke. Something in Andy broke as well when she saw you in that state.
“No.”

It’s July 4th and it’s still Disability Pride Month.
In honor of today being the fourth, I would like to share some information regarding the Americans With Disabilities Act. Today’s homework is to read (or at least skim) the links and facts I’m including. Disabled people in America are not granted the freedoms many are celebrating today.
Is the ADA enough? By Andie Mosley
The impact of the ADA: Research Results—Dr. John Frank (please skim this one!! it shows how unreliable the ADA is. This was published in the early 2000s & I would argue that the ADA’s reliability has decreased since then, based on my experience and the experiences of other Disabled people in my life. Disabled tumblr users, please reply to this post with your opinion on that, I’m curious!).
30 Years After a Landmark Disability Law, the Fight for Access and Equality Continues—Abigail Abrams
Chicago Cubs prevail in lawsuit alleging Wrigley renovations violated accessibility requirements for wheelchair-bound fans—Robert Channick (I know the title used ‘wheelchair-bound’ which is an inappropriate way to refer to wheelchair users, but this gives an explanation of how the Cubs technically followed ADA, but still made the seats inaccessible).
Many of these articles are great, but there is still an underlying sense of “well at least we have the ADA even if it’s not perfect” and while I partially agree, the ADA is faulty. Businesses and public spaces only have to meet the bare minimum requirements so they don’t get sued. In my experience, they often put their “accessible” features of the building in the most inaccessible places. For example, a building at my college has an automatic door and elevator, but you have to walk around the building (often through the grass) and then down a ramp to get to it. I couldn’t do that so I put myself in danger and pain trudging up the stairs every day. That isn’t accessibility. It had negative impacts on my academic performance and overall learning experience. In my opinion that should be a violation. If I were to sue, I’d probably lose the lawsuit because they “met” the legal requirements.
Today I stand with all marginalized communities that aren’t truly granted freedom in America. You are such a beautiful and valuable part of this country and I will continue to speak up for you until Justice is served. Your resilience is so admirable!! ♥️
I do all of this work for free because it is my passion. But, I’m also an unemployed, struggling Disabled girl. It’s not necessary, but I would greatly appreciate any support on my ko-fi. Thank you & happy pride !!! :’)
