Celebrating Kamila Andini!
"It’s important for me when I can see myself in a movie (even if it is a movie from a different country), when I see my society, problems I can relate to… Hollywood movies are like a dream, something unrealistic and distant, detached from reality. In Indonesia, we are not very confrontational people. We don’t put the conflict on a dining table and don’t talk about it. We hide our feelings. People of the East have a different way of talking about conflict."
Read more in Asian Movie Pulse's Interview With Kamila Andini: We, Women, Often Don’t Have a Sense of Ownership Even of Ourselves.
Yuni (2021)
"Throughout, the film asks, what is Yuni willing to risk to have control over her life, and will the world she lives in let her get it?"

The Seen and the Unseen | Sekala Niskala (2017)
"The film's quiet pace, as well as its lack of dialogue, encourages total immersion in this magical universe.... The assimilation of the magical dimension of reality is not just about the protagonist. The film itself undergoes a certain metamorphosis following this new mystical revelation. It’s at this point that The Seen and Unseen becomes a wonderful succession of dream sequences that transports us from one universe to another."

The Mirror Never Lies | Laut Bercermin (2011)
"This immersive film from the Wakatobi islands in Indonesia is a fascinating snapshot of the lives of the Bajo tribe and a sweetly worked narrative about family and friendship that also offers powerful commentary about the state of our seas and our curation of them."

Events are back in a big way. Many are lining up for an immersive live experience with a swirling evolution of iconic imagery, like what the #UMusicFanVerse2022 has recently brought us. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience engaging fans in the world of their favorite international and local artists.
The UMusic FanVerse is a week-long fandom gathering from October 17-23 at The Podium Hall Level 6, the biggest superfan-con and all-in-one music festival for Pinoy music fans.
It highlights life-sized experiential booths and awesome merch with over 50 artists' performances including Morisette, Darren, Blaster, December Avenue, Juan Karlos, Zild, Zack Tabudlo, UK’s Bonny Bailey, Irish singer Dermott Kennedy, Blaster Silonga, Zild, Singaporean singer-songwriter Lullaboy, Malaysian rapper Yonnyboii, Indonesian Idol Tiara Andini and a lot more.
Taking advantage of how fans are open to a much wider range of experiences, UMusicPh has also put up a pocket meet & greets with artists and we were grateful to talk to Zack Tabudlo and Juan Karlos last Sunday. That night, Zack Tabudlo was awarded a Diamond Award for reaching over 1 Billion Global Streams on his debut album Episode.
Structured with creative minds, new tools, art, technology, and a contemporary setting, this newer and immersive live experience will reach the largest audience possible and spark the interest of the younger generations.
IN PHOTOS: We've invaded this much-awaited event during Supernova Sundays with the treats of top-tier performances from Elise Huang, Huh Smile, Gabriel, VVS Collective, Jano Ft. Gabrang, MC Einstein, Over October, Jazelle, Unit 406, Southernwade, CHNDTR, Travis Atreo, Hey June!, Dionella, Tiara Andini, Fern + Kindred, Maximillian, One Click Straight, Zild, Johnny Orlano + Zack, Shanti Dope, Juan Carlos, Hayd, December Avenue, Yungblud, and Zack Tabudlo + Yonniboii + Tiara.

Wahai cinta beri pertandaDengar kupu-kupu yang bicaraBisingkan dadaMelantunkan nada asmara
Andai cinta setangkai bungaTakkan buat kau layu dan kecewaKan ku jaga binar hatinya

Beck's had a rough go at things after being let go from a carnie job, and honestly things weren't going well for him before that. He's not the sharpest tool in the shed, and people like to take advantage of that. After a fateful meeting with his former employer and coworkers, he was arrested for theft, drunk and disorderly conduct, and vagrancy; at the time, he had little clue that his current employer had been the one to call the cops, while his former employer kept him in place and allowed him to be arrested. At a trial, he was sentenced harshly for his crimes and put in prison.
The first time he'd taken drugs was because of a guard. He'd actually been he'd down and injected with what he learned later was heroin, just because the guard thought it was funny to watch him trip out. The same guard did it again with two other drugs, PCP and ketamine. After being then beat up by another guard, Beck went to the local dealer in prison to beg for anything to get rid of the pain. Feeling bad for the guy, the dealer injected him with a cocktail of heroin and PCP and sent him on his way. And so, he became addicted to both heroin and angel dust, occasionally using ketamine as well.
Weirdly, he was never found out by the authorities, so he was let out on good behavior, though put on parole. Beck's habits became worse when he was without any support, getting high to nullify some of the harrowing effects of being in reality again.
It was six years after his arrest, at 33, that Beck tried to rob a hostel for the money, finding his old friends there with the proprietor. Once he came to his senses, he found himself more than apologetic for what he'd done, though in this time, they began to realize setting him up was more than wrong. They agreed to help him get clean and take care of him, help him find a new job.
Beck has been sober for a year now, and while he's still trying to find some semblance of reality again after police brutality and drug addiction, he's doing well. He's no longer alone. And that alone means the world to him
