hello hello, thank you for this!! under the cut please find ~800 words of f!Amell/Anders for @dadrunkwriting.

“The Hero of Ferelden,” said Anders, his voice booming oddly in the rocky chamber.

Solona rolled her eyes, suppressing a wince as he tugged off her boot. “Shut up.”

As he peeled down her sock, he continued in the same infuriatingly theatrical manner, “Decides to explore a mysterious crypt by herself. Gets swarmed by possessed corpses and skeletons. Trips over a rock—”

“Anders, that voice just makes you sound smarmy and insufferable.”

He made the voice even worse. “The Hero of Ferelden, felled by a turned ankle.”

“I’ll heal my damn ankle myself.” Solona tried to wrest her foot from his hold, but cringed in pain.

“Come on, I know you’re shit at Creation magic,” Anders said in a normal voice, which still echoed, and gently stilled her leg. “It works out for me, as the sensitive healer to your hardened battlemage. Makes sure I stay indispensable.”

“Who says I’m shit at Creation magic?”

“Uh, everyone in the Fereldan Circle?”

Solona scoffed. “You made that up. We never knew each other there.”

“Mages are terrible gossips.” Magic began to pour over the swollen knot of bruises that was her ankle, cooling and soothing. “Maybe you were so bad that it was all anyone talked about for a week. You know how boring it could get, in between all the orgies, beatings, and people turning into abominations. Anything could be news.”

Solona looked at him.

“Fine, I’m lying. Is that such a surprise?”

Despite herself, she laughed. “No.”

She looked down and found Anders looking back at her, a small smile on his face. It seemed sincere, and she felt uncomfortable. He reminded her too much of Jowan sometimes, with the whining and the too-big feelings, although Anders could at least take a joke.

“How did you know where to look for me?” she asked Anders, squashing down thoughts of shackles and pleading eyes. Jowan had dug his own grave. Several times over.

“I followed the scorch marks. If you’re trying not to be tracked, you might want to rethink your ‘just shoot lightning at everything’ policy.”

Solona’s lip twitched. “I guess you’d know.” She’d been a little more zap-happy than usual during this trip into the Deep Roads.

Anders said, delighted, “Praise for me? From the Commander? Why, I never—”

“How in the Void was that praise?”

“I took it as an acknowledgement of my expertise, and that’s what I’m going to tell everyone.” He tapped her foot. “Here, try to stand on that.”

Solona gave him a dubious look, but obeyed.

“Huh. Thanks, Anders.” She took a tentative step, then another. Her ankle held her weight steadily and no longer hurt. She knelt to re-don her sock and boot.

“See, I’m indispensable.” Anders’ smile widened, and then fell in panic and dismay, as a tiny head poked itself out of his robes, followed by a sleek yellow body. “Ser Pounce-a-Lot, no! We talked about this!”

Solona grabbed the cat before it could dart away too far, and rose.

“This is why we told you to leave it at the Keep,” she said sternly. Ser Pounce-a-Lot, who disliked her (all animals did), struggled in her arms and scratched.

“He’s been good! No one’s noticed him until now. He didn’t make a peep when I fought all those skeletons off you.”

“If I recall, there were only three skeletons left by the time you arrived to, ah, rescue me.”

“Well, one of them had a really big sword.” The smile was back. Solona followed Anders’ gaze and realized that she had been stroking the cat’s small head, apparently pacifying it. She felt her face heat. He noticed.

“Take your beast.” She thrust the creature back at Anders, who accepted it with much cooing and placating and only a few deliberate brushes of her hands. “We should get back to camp.”

“But I was enjoying the moment, Commander.” Oh Maker, he almost certainly thought that was a seductive look. And with the cat in his arms, too. She recalled his conversations with Oghren about that particular trick.

He was so bad at this, Solona decided that she pitied him enough to intervene. “Anders, you don’t need to flirt with me. You’re a Warden and we’re not giving you up. Now let’s get back to the others before anything more dangerous than skeletons decides it would like to outnumber us.”

Several expressions flitted across his face—surprise, shame, anger, something unreadable—but he quickly masked them with amusement. “I don’t need to, but what if I want to?”

She sighed and turned her back on him. “Cut your losses while you can. Let’s go, men.”

“‘Men’?”

“That cat is too big and insolent to still be a child.” Solona was glad he couldn’t see her face, because she couldn’t help but grin in response to his startled laughter.

It was fine. She’d done worse, to people she liked better, than she might eventually have to do to him. “Come on, Anders. At least pretend you can keep up.”

Okay so this prompt man I thought about it all week and it may have gone a little platonic amell x surana ON ACCIDENT I SWEAR but anders IS in it I promise i hope you like it

no pairing really, but featuring my ocs with unoriginal names, solona and mentioned neria

She didn’t expect the Wending Wood to hurt, but maybe she should have. She’d known Neria the longest, they’d shared the most nights and comforted each other after the worst nightmares. The girl remembered next to nothing of her life before the tower, but Irving told stories of the Dalish and they’d imagined a life where Neria wore tattoos on her face and put Solona under the blade solely for the roundness of her ears.

Together they’d judged each newcomer, in Jowan and in Anders, and though they’d welcomed new friends into their circle within a Circle, the two of them had been the closest, each reaching for the other in moments of weakness. It hurt when she started shunning Solona’s company in favor of Anders, even worse when she discovered their deception was born not of passion, but of a desire for freedom, one they hadn’t shared with her.

Admittedly, their deception was necessary; look how quickly she’d turned on Jowan when he threatened her own place in the Circle, how it hadn’t mattered that she betrayed the betrayer when Greagoir saw maleficar around every corner. Would it have been any different if it was Neria trying to run away with a lover? Who’s to say?

Anders told her, on the first night, that Neria was gone, long gone. They met trouble in Amaranthine and he gave himself up to give her the time to escape. Presumably she’d followed their plan to get the hell out of Ferelden, gone to the Free Marches, or even all the way to Antiva or Rivain. There was literally no reason to believe that she was hanging around this area, other than the lingering trappings of a Dalish clan, but Solona hoped and that hope made her stubborn. She would wish for her friend to appear until the fabric of reality slapped her in the face with the futility.

Depending on the circumstances, she might keep hoping anyway.

“She’s not here,” said Anders quietly, brushing his fingers lightly across her shoulder. Solona shrugged his touch away—fuck him and his practicality. She picked up another package of scattered silk and forged ahead down the path, hiking toward the aravels, buoyed by false hope that she knew would be unfulfilled, but she let it buoy her anyway.

“Solona—” Anders caught her arm and spun her; she glared daggers and he released her like he’d been burned. “She won’t be there,” he said helplessly. “She’s gone to the Marches, that was the plan—”

“I don’t care,” she said, exasperated but trying to mitigate her tone. She needed someone to anchor her and Anders was that person, for as long as Alistair was off battling the Thaw. Her hope knew no bounds and it would run away with her heart, regardless of reality, regardless of what facts existed to contradict the possibilities. Anders anchored her—her past and present mingling enough to give pause, to make her think twice in both ways. Was what she thought possible unlikely, or what she thought unlikely possible? Or both?

She wrenched the planted sword from the dirt and pointed it at Anders. “Don’t take my hope from me,” she said stubbornly, because too many miracles had played out in recent history for her to discount the possibility. She was alive and Alistair was alive and the archdemon was not.

“We don’t know where she is,” she said, deliberately ignoring the sad finality in his gaze, ignoring the inevitable truth: Neria was gone, beyond their reach, had left them behind. She shoved the mud-caked sword in her belt, ignored the sideways looks Oghren and Sigrun were exchanging, and forged ahead into the abandoned camp.

If she’d learned nothing else, she’d learned to never give up hope.

Pray (Leliana x Amell)

Lily never understood how to pray. She and the Chantry just didn’t go well together. Whenever the young apprentices were herded into the small chapel of Kinloch Hold she was the first to doze off, and that was on a good day. More often, Lily would wrinkle her nose, cock her head to the side and bombard the Revered Mother with questions. Things like: why do mages have to be locked away? If magic is meant to serve man, isn’t to be used? And, the one that earned her a pile of extra essays from Irving: What makes blood magic so bad, anyway? The best, of course, was that one time she and the Anders set off a string of firecrackers under the templar’s pews, and the bulk of the order danced around the room shouting over their burning breeches. It was flogging and a week of solitary for both of them, but the look on Greagoir’s face made it worth it.

But even the sermons were bearable compared to the praying. Sitting in silence, listening to Keili sniffle as she begged the Maker to rid her of her accursed magic, listen to Jowan grind his teeth every time that one initiate restarted her chant. It was more than Lily could handle most days. She would clench her fists, close her eyes, and focus on breathing quietly, like Papa taught her when she had to hide. Papa never liked the chantry either. “Their Maker hasn’t done nothin’ for your kind, and don’t you forget it.” He said once when Lily asked why he never sang the chant with the rest of the Amells.

That was before they fled the Free Marches, before Mama died. He was always so bitter, even then. Never blamed Lily, or her magic, but the world that despised them. They hid well, it took years for the templars to find them, and Papa fought to his last breath trying to keep Lily with her family. Alas, at eleven years old, Lily was dragged kicking and screaming away from her father’s corpse, and placed under the care of First Enchanter Irving. Irving had taken on the scrappy little apostate as his personal responsibility, and Lily learned much under his instruction.

Out of the walls of the Circle, Lily’s hatred of the chant began to shrink. It was still there, but quieter, gentler, much to her own surprise. At least out here, Lily was allowed to not only criticize the Chantry but joke about it freely. Alistair would always burst out into snickers when Lily muttered her own parody of the chant under her breath, even adding a few verses of his own, which made Lily laugh harder than she had in years.

The chanter’s board gave Lily an easy way to find those who needed her help, and when they didn’t know she was a mage, the Revered Mothers were so much kinder. So much less focused on being repentant and more focused on the best way to help those in need. The Grey Warden title brought honour with it, and in the chantry, that honour was respected, even if they couldn’t offer them any tangible help.

Of course, Lily knew that none of these were the true reason she’d begun to tolerate the chant as it rang in her ears.

It was her.

Leliana always got a faraway look in her eyes when she spoke of the cloister and the peace she found there; as if it were a setting in one of her stories. Every time Lily met Leliana’s eyes she drowned in a sea of sky blue. Her voice was a tether that managed to bring Lily home every time, always with a smile and a kind word.

Leliana always had the softest smile on her face as she sang the chant before bed, kneeling before her bedroll, hands clasped. Leliana never closed her eyes when she prayed, she always kept her eyes turned skyward, tracing the constellations with her gaze as she whispered to them. Lily had watched her from the corner of her eye more than she cared to admit. The way the sister’s shoulders would begin to relax as she murmured, and how peaceful she looked when the chant was finished. Once, after she had finished her nightly ritual, Leliana caught Lily’s gaze with a wink. Lily’s heart leapt into her throat, and the mage turned away to hide the blush that crept up her cheeks.

Lily never understood how to pray,

but Leliana made her want to try.

OC Masterlist

@kiraia pointed out (rightfully so) that I made quite a few vague posts about my OCs, but that I’ve never properly introduced them. It’s true, mostly because I tend to wait until they are well developed to properly do anything with them, which doesn’t happen all that often. So consider this a formal introduction to my current OCs :)

(Under a cut because there are quite a bunch of them. I hope it works on mobile, because otherwise yikes! I’m very sorry.)

Sad Mages Worldstate

It’s probably the one I talk about the most. It’s the most developed worldstate, with the most developed OCs and I’ve written a lot of fics about them.

The Warden: Ana Surana [Tag | Complete bio | Fanfictions]

pairings: Ana x Daylen Amell (friends with benefits), Ana x Alistair (DAO romance), Ana x Carver (current pairing, now married) + I occasionally throw Isabela into the mix because reasons.

Born in the Gallows and taken to an orphanage in Highever until her magic manifested.

Grew up close to Anders, Jowan, Amell and (to a lesser extent) Finn.

Had a baby that she was forced to give to the Chantry.

Main DAO choices include: romancing Alistair, getting her heart broken after making him king, stupidly refusing to do Morrigan’s ritual and watching him sacrifice his life for her.

Later she starts dating Carver (whom she actually met at Ostagar where they had a brief fling before the Battle).

Takes part in the Mage Underground and helps Anders build his bomb.

Starts hearing the Calling shortly before DAI.

Is Hawke’s contact during HLtA.

The Champion: Alwyn Hawke [Tag | Complete bio | Fanfictions]

pairings: Alwyn x Anders (DA2 romance, on and off), Alwyn x Cullen (one time), Alwyn x Rylen (post DAI, considering making them endgame, not sure yet).

Purple Hawke.

Carver becomes a warden.

Supports the mages.

Develops a close friendship with Ana.

Breaks up with Anders after the Chantry explosion, wishing he’d trusted him enough to share his plan with him. They do get back together later on.

Is the first one to learn about Ana hearing the Calling.

Stays behind in the Fade during HLtA, but eventually finds a way out.

He was found by Inquisition scouts in the Western Approach, suffering from amnesia.

Later falls in love with Rylen.

(Note that I still need to update that last part into his bio.)

The Inquisitor: Violette Surana [Tag | Complete bio | Fanfictions]

pairings: Violette x Orsino (once twice), Violette x Samson (current partner).

Ana’s mum.

Orlesian who grew up in Ferelden during the occupation.

Was taken to the Gallows at age 13.

Was a close friend of Malcolm Hawke.

Had her baby (Ana) taken by the Chantry. Later escaped.

Hates the Chantry.

Attends the Conclave in the hopes that Ana might be there.

Starts sleeping with Samson after his capture because he basically said fuck the Chantry to her face and it turned her on.

Hardened Leliana becomes Divine.

Other OC: Neriah Amell-Hawke

Is Ana’s daughter. She got her out of the orphanage after the Blight (thanks, Leliana).

Her father is Daylen Amell. Carver adopted her when he married her mama.

Is 18 as of Trespasser.

Second Chances Worldstate

This one started off as an AU for a fic starring Ana and Alistair which is why these two worldstates are so similar. The point of divergence is that Jowan went to Amell for help instead of Ana for some reason.

The Warden: Daylen Amell [Tag | Fanfictions]

pairings: Day x Ana (friends with benefits), Day x Morrigan (DAO romance and while I did consider for a while not having him follow her through the eluvian, I changed my mind. There’s too much growth potential.)

His father was Maurevar Carver, because I say so.

Main DAO choices include: Sparing Loghain, Alistair becoming a drunk, not doing Morrigan’s ritual because he can just throw Loghain at the Archdemon (which he did).

Helps Ana get their daughter out of the Kirkwall orphanage. Bails on them right afterwards.

Does follow Morrigan through the eluvian and actually ends up being a decent dad to Kieran.

Does not become Ferelden’s Warden-Commander.

The Champion: Alwyn Hawke (yes, again)

Like I said, this was originally an AU, so it made sense to keep the same Hawke. There are quite a few differences, however.

pairings: none.

Does not bring Anders to the Deep Roads. Carver dies.

Suffers from severe depression afterwards.

Goes from purple to full blue after Leandra’s death.

Stays behind in the Fade. Probably won’t make it out in this worldstate.

The Inquisitor: Asaara Adaar [Tag | Fanfictions]

pairings: Asaara x Cullen (starts before DAI, now married).

Meets Cullen shortly before the Chantry explosion. They fall in love.

Not going into too much details because it will be part of Second Chances’ main story.

Other OCs: Ana Surana and Neriah [Main fic | Other fics]

Again, can’t go into too much detail because spoilers.

pairings: Ana x Carver (before the Deep Roads expedition anyway), Ana x Alistair.

Day brings Ana to Kirkwall shortly after the Blight to meet their daughter. She ends up staying after they get Neriah out of the orphanage.

Single mom. Works as a waitress.

They find drunk Alistair in their garbage. Ana wants to help him get better.

Other OC: Issala Adaar [Tag]

pairings: Issala x Varric (post-DAI).

Is Asaara’s overexcited little sister.

Likes to tinker with explosives.

Built a handheld cannon. It’s clunky, not very accurate and is prone to misfire. In other words, it still needs a lot of work.

Varric thinks she’s adorable so he made her his personal bodyguard.

Angry Dalish Worldstate

The Warden: Shaelyn Mahariel [Tag | Fanfictions]

pairings: Lyn x Tamlen (Origin), Lyn x Bethany, (considering Lyn x Alistair between DA2 and DAI but even that might be too cruel.)

Doesn’t want to be a warden.

DAO choices include: Alistair remaining with the wardens because he doesn’t want to be king.

No in-game romance, she was too heartbroken after losing Tamlen.

Eventually starts dating Bethany.

Travels to the Free Marches after the death of her clan to kill the man responsible.

Almost dies in the resulting fight against Hawke (thank the Creators Anders was there).

Goes home and confesses to Bethany that she almost killed her brother and that she would have done it had he not been so badass. They break up.

The two of them reconcile post-DAI, after Hawke and Merrill’s wedding.

The Champion: Kris Hawke [Tag]

pairings: Kris x Merrill (now married).

Blue Hawke.

Sadly couldn’t save Merrill’s clan.

Didn’t want to hurt Lyn that badly during their fight, he was just defending himself. Deeply regrets it afterwards.

The Inquisitor: no one specific yet, but likely a Lavellan romancing Solas.

Alistair stays behind in the Fade.

Elves in Luuuuv Worldstate

The Warden: Kallian Tabris [Tag | Fanfictions]

pairings: Tabs x Alistair (DAO romance)

Probably the most canon-compliant OC.

Main DAO choices include: making Alistair king with Anora as queen and becoming his mistress.

Madly in love.

Will have a happy ending.

No Hawke or Inquisitor yet.

Homecoming Worldstate

The Warden: Elaine Cousland [Tag]

pairings: Elle x Nathaniel (pre-DAO, now ex-husband), Elle x Leliana (DAO romance), Elle x Sebastian (current).

Was BFF with Anora during their childhood.

Actually met Sebastian before he was sent to the Chantry. The two of them had similar lifestyles back then, so when Elle visited Starkhaven with her father, the two of them developed a rivalry of sorts in their romantic pursuits (think Merteuil and Valmont, but a lot more light-hearted). They do spend one night together after learning that he is going to be sent to the Chantry.

Eventually fell in love and married Nate. They kept their relationship a secret, however. They divorced after the Blight.

Main DAO choices include: romancing Leliana, making Alistair king with Anora as queen, sparing Loghain and performing the ritual.

Her relationship with Leliana didn’t survive the distance.

Leaves the Wardens after the Chantry explosion and basically goes on the run from everyone because she feels responsible for what happened.

Helps Sebastian reclaim his throne. They fall in love. (I’m currently writing a fic about this, actually)

Still unsure about her DAI fate. Either she replaces Hawke in HLtA and stays behind in the Fade, or she becomes Inquisitor.

The Champion: Violetta Hawke [Tag | Fanfictions]

pairings: Letta x Isabela (DA2 romance).

Yes, she was totally named after Violette.

Is Kris’ sister.

Carver becomes a Templar.

Spared Anders.

Sails into the sunset with Isabela.

DAI fate will depend on what I decide to do with Elle.

The Inquisitor: no one yet.

Loghain survives HLtA.

I am considering having Neriah (yes, again) be the Herald with someone else as Inquisitor since she’s only a kid. In this worldstate, she grew up in Kirkwall’s orphanage before being taken to the Gallows. She escapes the massacre and Carver eventually takes her under his wing.

I'm planning to have two additional worldstates (I want one per warden origin). One called "Happy Dwarves" with a male Brosca romancing Zevran and one called "Dead Heroes" with a male Aeducan romancing Leliana (and probably Alwyn again, idk). I also have a couple of Cadashes that I want to put somewhere, a woman romancing Josie and a man romancing Divine Cassandra. Idk yet if they'll be Inquisitors or if I'll just add them to one of the existing worldstates. Odds are one will be Inquisitor while the other just tags along.

I probably missed a few things here and there, but that’s basically the gist of it. Thanks to anyone who actually stuck to the end, lmao.

Worldstate 3

Magic, Knowledge and Blood

Warden : Malaad Surana (tag)

Class : Mage (Shapeshifter)

Pairings : F!Surana x Alistair (up to HLtA), F!Surana x Anders (after DAI)

Grew up in the Circle never knowing who her family was, quiet and timid and often prey to anxiety, she nonetheless became close to Conte Amell, Jowan, Anders and even Cullen.

Naturally tends to takes animal shapes in the Fade/in dreams, which usually keeps the attention of demons away, and is part of what makes her an excellent shapeshifter once Morrigan teaches her, even if her animal shapes tend to look uncanny if looked at close distance.

She frees Jowan during her incursion at the Redcliffe Castle; after Awakening they meet again and she offer him to stay as arcane advisor at Vigil's Keep.

Alistair stays with the Wardens and Anora is made queen.

Alistair does the ritual with Morrigan.

Malaad distrusts and disapproves greatly of the Wardens’ organization and need for secrecy, and she starts to study the taint and the Blight as soon as the Archdemon is defeated, trying to dismantle the need for Wardens to the root.

Amell, already under suspicions after Jowan’s escape and his temper rising at Surana being sent away, is moved to the Kirkwall’s Circle after the events of Broken Circle, as he is deemed too dangerous for them to monitor after Uldred’s attack.

He strikes a deal with a rage demon for blood magic, who will haunt him for years.

Bethany dies in the prologue and Claire Hawke reaches Kirkwall with Carver.

Anders eventually asks for her help to free Amell, his old friend, from the Circle, and Claire accepts, also on the premise of them being related.

Conte is freed and hides with the Hawkes, laying low and training with Carver to be able to defend himself without magic if needed.

Claire dies during the Deep Road expedition, and Conte comes back to the surface to find Carver having joined the Templars.

He sides with the Mages and approves of Anders’ actions.

Keeps helping the Mage underground and rebellion after DA2 with Anders and Merrill.

Conte is Varric’s contact, despite not being a Hawke by blood he was there when Carver unlocked Corypheus’ prison, and his knowledge in blood magic helped clear much of what happened with Malcolm.

After talking to Alistair at Skyhold he almost considers joining him in finding Surana and travelling with her, but that plan dies once Alistair is left in the Fade and Conte has no clue on how to find her.

Generally uncaring of the mages/templars situation, considers it human bullshit.

Has a complicated relationship with her Dalish upbringing, but was definitely pushed over the edge by Solas’ praises and belief she was more than her counterparts could ever be.

Allows him to remove her Vallaslin, but ends up regretting after the revelations of Trespasser.

Leaves Alistair in the Fade, Wardens are exiled.

Celene, Gaspard and Briala allied through blackmail.

Drinks from the Well of Sorrows.

Leliana is steeled and made Divine, the Inquisition is disbanded.

Wants to try and redeem Solas.
