au where jeff’s only a little older than todd and todd and jeff have a close relationship so todd’s over at welton every now and then and he meets neil (i know this is like 80% of my jeff anderson aus and 75% of my precanon anderperry aus but bear with me)

neil’s gets a big fat crush on him and ya know

he hangs out with todd whenever he’s there and he kinda knows jeff now too only becuz of that

so one day he’s there, doodling in his notebook (”neil anderson”) and someone sees it and like its not like todd’s a student here 

he only comes now and then to hang out iwht his brother for like 5 minutes and then get whisked away by neil

so they just see anderson and rumor spreads that neil’s got a thing for jeff and it gets back to the jeff anderson and jeff’s like ‘wait im like a solid 3% sure my brother’s got a thing for neil so i need to not only turn neil down but also guide him towards todd’

so jeff spends days upon days trying to hint to neil that there’s a better anderson for him

and like neil’s so confused as to whats going on

and he talks to charlie about it and charlie’s confused to becuz like both of them really just see jeff as todd’s (or neil’s crush's) older brother so the idea that jeff thinks that neil could like him doesn’t even cross his mind

and in the end todd comes over and hears that neil’s got a thing for an anderson and at first he’s like ‘omg what if its jeff’ but then he’s like ‘omg what if its me’ and he’s like how do i find this out 

so its just a long long time of neil trying to confess to todd, todd trying to figure out which anderson neil likes, and jeff trying to turn neil down whilst also setting him up with his brother

its a mess

pre canon aus have had me in a chokehold since i was like 13 anyway

but other than anderperry my beloved meeting precanon ive been thinking of todd meeting one of the other poets before welton idk if ill do anything with that thought but its been running through my head

yall ever think about how if jeff and todd had a better relationship then todd could’ve come to welton to visit him pre-canon (im sure visitations are allowed mr. perry is literally always there, and jeff’s the golden boy so-) and more importantly he could’ve run into neil perry pre canon and we could’ve had neil being smitten by his upperclassman’s younger brother ??

obvi todd goes to his own school so he can’t come all that much but like???? so much potential

neil could have a crush on him that never really leaves but he doesn’t think about until he meets his roommate canon time

they could keep in contact w/ each other via letters

or they meet and kinda forget but it foreshadows their relationship in the future and like maybe one gives the other something and they discover it after they date and they’re like ohhh your that dude

idk i have a lot of thoughts

like theres so much potential of neil being awe struck and jeff being like thats my little brother??? and todd being smitten right back and jeff being like are you here to visit me or that perry kid???

idk there’s so much to do with this idea i just think

ok but what if neil and todd met precanon

like they meet while todd goes to that school that starts with b and i can’t spell

they meet at some sorta diner and todd is there sitting alone with a book, and neil thinks he’s kinda pretty so he sits next to him. and todd is like hahawhatthefuck cuz he’s shy and anxious 

but neil sees the book he’s reading and strikes up a conversation with the said pretty boy and at first todd is barely saying anything back but neil doesn’t make a big deal about it and soon todd shyly starts recuperating 

and neil is like ‘wow this boy is pretty, has a good taste in books, and also has great insight and a pretty voice,,, im fucking doomed’

he is

neil asks todd to meet up again to talk about some other book and todd hesitantly agrees

this goes on for a while but they don't’ meet often cuz well neil goes to welton so

but eventually neil sucks up the courage to ask todd out on a date and todd is completely caught off guard because he’s had a crush on neil for a while now and he can’t understand how neil could like him back

so he’s like “wait u like me”,, and neil’s like “no shit i’ve been flirting with you since like uh forever” and todd’s like :0 w u t 

but they go out and it’s great and todd actually shyly asks neil to be his boyfriend

neil is so happy he almost suffocates todd with how hard he hugs him

anyway

neil practically runs to charlie’s room to tell him about his boyfriend todd

and charlie’s like “neil its two in the morning “

and neil is like “that’s what todd would have said” (dreamily) 

and charile is like “wut”

but anyway it’s cute and great and all of them are supportive but they don’t meet todd because of how shy todd is and neil doesn't want him to feel anything but 100% comfortable before he meets them cuz they can be a bit much

next year todd transfers to welton and the two are roommates

and neil is ecstatic

the other boys walk in to them kissing like they’re lovers separated by war finally reunited but they don’t know what todd looks like and last time they checked neil’s boyfriend went to another school

so they’re like “yo perry what the actual fuck what about todd”

and neil is like “...? what about todd...” and todd is like trying to melt into the floor cuz he just got walking in on but also internally like “... what about todd...?oh wait im todd”

and charlie is like “yo u asshole, todd your boyfriend who loves poetry and you described as the love of your life”

and todd is like “the love of your life ? wait you talk about me?” and is all red but obviously happy and anyway

todd and neil meeting on jeff’s graduation - todd’s there because he doesn’t have a choice - he’s in the back of the crowd as his parents sing jeff’s praises and jeff soaks them all up and they all ignore him other than to tell him to “walk faster” or when someone asks about him

and neil’s there because a friend invited him and he sees todd from the distance and comes to stand next to him and the two steal glances while pretending to watch the ppl they came for as they get surrounded by peers, teachers, and parents

....

a few years later, todd and neil graduate and this time they don’t have to steal glances 

they just steal kisses

the only person to blame for this au is  @regina-della-poesia no i will not elaborate 

not a teachers au but a accidental secret relationship au where neil goes to welton and todd goes to balincrest (?) pre-canon or canon divergence im not sure

Neil is known for being a super smart, super friendly, and super nice person; he has a group of friends that consists of charlie, knox, meeks, pitts, and cameron but he’s friends with every body

he’s always helping people out with school work, or talking to them when they look down, or sticking up for them, or just giving them friendly hellos and smiles

and also he’s tall, has pretty hair and eyes, and a bone structure to die for 

so naturally, he gets asked out a lot

but he rejects e v e r y  s i n g l e  p e r s o n

and everyone at first is like oh he’s not interested or he’s probably too busy 

but one day he starts rejecting people with a “i already have a boyfriend” and everyone is like ????

and the genuinely think he’s lying -- not because neil is the kinda person to lie, but just because from where????

like this is welton??? the closest school is henley hall but that’s an all girls school, sure there are other schools around but theyre a bit further down and with welton’s strict curfews it would make it impossible to see anyone

so they’re like “oh he’s trying to let us down easily” because he’s nice and wants to pull a “it’s not u” but efficiently

and his friends all tease him about it too 

and he’s like no he’s real

and theyre like then tell us about him

and neil is like “he’s got the prettiest blue eyes in the world, they’re just so bright and clear, i could look into them all day, and his hair is soft and pretty and kinda like a sunflower, and he’s got the softest face and the softest hands, and when he laughs his entire face lights up and he’s tall but a bit shorter than me and he has long legs and he gives great hugs and he’s a poet and he smells nice and his laugh is the best sound to ever hear” and they’re like damn this guy is like so gone

but it’s funny to tease him

so charlie’s like “if he’s real then how come we’ve never met him”

and neil is like “todd’s really shy and u guys are kinda a lot so i wanna ease him into it and not like make him anxious”

and like that’s fair but they still make fun of him

but other than them no one believes him - they just think he’s lying

until one day neil is freaking out because he took his trig textbook out to go on study date with todd but forgot it and there’s a test next class and not enough time to get it back and oh god if he fails his dad will never let him see todd again

and everyone is sympathetic but before anyone can offer their own a boy with blue eyes and blond hair comes to the dorm hall looking around and somehow not looking at anything at all, he looks super uncomfortable but he braves through it

and charlie - who hears more about todd than anyone else is like “omg thats todd anderson” 

so he approaches him, a bit cautiously because he remembers neil telling him about todd’s anxiety and is like

“hey you’re todd right?” and todd looks a little taken aback so charlies like hopefully neil mentioned us and says “im charlie. neil’s friend” and todd obviously recognizes the name cuz he relaxes a bit and charlie is like are you here to see neil and todd nods again, and so charlie leads him to neil’s dorm and knocks and is like “neil uve got a guest”

and neil is not feeling very good at the moment and he thinks it’s probably his dad, so he opens obviously annoyed but then he sees todd and his face lights up and everyone is like oh is this the boyfriend?????

and then todd reaches into his bag and takes out a textbook and is like “u left ur textbook and u have a test soon so i thought i’d get it back to u soon” and the he hands him another bag he was holding “and a study kit” and neil looks so fucking relieved and happy and he just throws himself onto todd and smothers him with kisses

and charlie is like “get a room??????” and todd is all red and neil kind of wants todd to stay but they both know he has to go but they promise to meet up soon for a date and it’s good and happy and the study kit is filled with neil’s favorite snacks and shit and i just love boyfriend anderperry <3

the balincrest soccer team at their weekly team building outing

soccer player no 1: yeah those welton soccer boys are cute af but like i’d never date the enemy ya know?

the rest of the team: *nodding*

todd, panicking and hiding the book neil gave him that he was gonna show the boys as proof he got a boyfriend under his shirt: y-yeah i would also never haha.... ha...............ha

anderperry pre canon au (but also like a modern au) where neil goes to town in winter to shop for his besties for christmas <3

and meets him 

as in todd, but u all probably guessed that lmao

anyway

in a wild turn of events (as in todd’s smitten with neil and neil’s smitten w/ todd) todd helps neil finish his shopping so he makes it back to curfew in time

fast forward and todd and neil talk on the phone whenever they can, they meet up whenever they can

and then they plan a date during summer vacation and todd is so excited and neil is so excited

but in his todd anderson excitement he gets kinda spacey and daydream-y even as he goes to his summer classes that start right after school ends

and his dad notices and grounds him and takes his phone for the entire break

on the night before their date

and during the day of their date, todd wakes up early, gets ready and skips to their chosen meeting spot and waits

and waits

and waits

until the sun is setting and there is no more reassuring himself that neil will come

until he’s staring at his phone knowing that neil isn’t going to answer his texts 

until he’s hastily wiping his tears and walking back feeling like a fucking idiot 

of course neil wouldn’t want him 

oh god he was probably laughing w/ his friends right now about the fucking loser who’d fallen for him and was convinced that neil had returned those feelings

and he barely reaches his room before the tears turn into sobs and he knows the house is quiet so he knows his parents can hear and he knows that they know that todd couldn’t even get through one date properly 

fuck

he shouldn’t have asked to borrow his mom’s straightener to fluff up his hair

but he had wanted to look pretty for neil

and-

there’s a knock on his door before the door opens and its fucking jeff standing there

he stares at todd for a minute and comes in and holds him as todd tries to come down

and hey at least he got his brother back through his broken heart huh?

time skip to the first day at welton

where todd finds out he’s roommates with neil and begs his parents to somehow request a change and jeff somehow understands and asks too and they agree

on the other hand neil’s excited that todd’s going to be his roommate and he can explain himself-

until he gets a letter informing him that there has been a change

and thats how todd ends up rooming with charlie

and thats how neil spends his entire year trying to win him back

eventually

eventually they talk it out and neil takes todd out on a proper date and promises to never break his heart (again)

but for now, todd avoids him at every turn - avoids the asshole who played with todd’s heart and broke it

get in besties, this shit is long

anderperry pre-canon au where they meet in the summer before todd’s transfer and they’re kinda dating

like they meet in the beginning of summer and start talking and like a few weeks in, neil asks him out and todd gets all shy but agrees

and it’s cute, but mr. perry’s forcing neil into summer classes so neil’s pretty busy but then mr. perry notices he’s distracted and tells him he can see todd after school is done and over and neil writes him a letter but it never gets to todd and todd’s really hurt and confused 

and neil never gets a reply but he assumes it’s cuz tod doesn’t wanna get him in trouble so he’s like “i’ll write another at welton and it’s gonna be great”

and todd is like “maybe i misunderstood and we weren’t even dating to begin with”

but this all happens in the last few weeks of break btw

anyway fast forward to the first day of welton, neil is ecstatic to see todd but todd never meets his gaze and neil is </3

but it’s pretty hard for todd to avoid neil when they share a room so at first neil tries to be understanding but he lasts like a day and eventually confronts todd

and is like did i do something, are you mad at me etc etc and is horrified when todd’s defiant look melts into teary eyes and his voice cracks and he apologizes for upsetting neil but “i-i just... i guess i read to much into the summer, that- that’s it. I thought... I, I thought we were, you know.. together, but obviously not”

and neil is like hella confused and wiping his tears and reassuring him that the summer meant everything to him and like “didnt you get my letter?”

and todd asks what letter and neil is like ohhh i think i see the problem and then he explains to todd the whole situation and apologizes for not sending a follow up when todd didnt reply or at least he tries to 

because as soon as he explains the situation and reassures todd that what they had over the summer is real and he’d like to continue it cuz he’s “crazy” for todd, todd throws himself onto neil and brings them into a kiss, it’s a little salty because of todd’s tears but it’s passionate and it’s like todd is trying to press all of his feelings into the kiss and it leaves neil a little light headed

and it’s a bit awkward because neither of them have been in relationships before and they don’t know if they should just start where they left off or take it one kiss at a time

but the awkwardness doesn’t last long

whenever neil hesitates to grab todd’s hand, todd shyly reaches out

whenever todd’s gaze flickers to neil’s lips, neil leans in

whenever neil reaches for him, but pulls back, todd melts into his arms

and whenever todd looks like he needs a hug, neil is there 

however, the poets don’t know theyre together because this happened over the summer, and when they met todd he was still avoiding neil

and neil isn’t sure if todd wants anyone to know because of how shy he is but todd does and he wonders if neil is a little embarrassed by him

but then he remembers the month he spent crying over neil and how they promised to talk through stuff

so he confronts neil and neil is like nonono i just didn't wanna make you uncomfortable

and todd admits to the month too since they’re already taking about deep shit and neil admits to the hurt he had felt when todd had ignored him and they promise to always try and be honest and work it out no matter what 

(they tell the poets, who aren’t that close to todd yet and are blindsided) (btw this all happens in the first few days)

(well, they don’t tell, todd walks back in the room after a shower with his hair wet, and his shirt damp, and neil jumps him just as the poets come to invite them to a study session)

(and months later, when neil is sitting at his father’s desk, gun in hand, he remembers the conversation and puts the gun down. Instead he picks up the phone and calls the school, asking for todd)

(”I don’t think I can do this, but I want to try with you”)

(and years later, when he’s standing across from todd, hands linked, saying his vows, he thanks every god that could exist that he had called that night, that he had met todd that summer)

dead poets society au where knox meets todd at some party his parents dragged him to

he sees him in the corner looking uncomfortable and strikes up a conversation

todd looks more uncomfortable

but knox kinda stays around anyway becuz a kid knox knows is a pretentious asshole was eyeing the quiet kid

something he relays to todd

who looks at him gratefully

adn then the two do actually talk and todd’s pretty quiet but he doesn’t look like he wants to dig a hole and hide inside it anymore

and after talking to todd for like 10 minutes properly, knox realizes something

neil would love todd

and knox’s loves romance

so he quietly and subtly manipulates the conversation so that todd will accidently reveal his type

(”so like you into boys?”

“err... excuse me?”

“just making conversation haha!”

“oh um, yeah i-i guess”)

yeah

and he also subtly mentions how awesome neil is so that when he forces them to meet, todd will already like neil
