okay so in my series Unheavenly Creatures, I named the two non-reader harpies Issa and Yarina because I thought they matched the Russian/Scandinavian/Eastern European inspired names for House Harkonnen, and I like to think that the harpies are considered extra beautiful on Giedi Prime so they need really ethereal, beautiful names that are equal parts solid yet airy

I don’t necessarily think they’re from the Bene Tleilax, because they’re SO human, yknow? The creatures we’ve seen in DV Duniverse that may be from the Bene Tleilax are the spider thing in part 1 and then the jester rodeo clown things in the arena in 2, and they’re all just significantly less “human” than the harpies

I like the idea that they’re like beauty and fashion icons on Giedi Prime and everybody wants to know what treatments and procedures they’re doing. They’d definitely be on the cover of Harkonnen Cosmopolitan magazine

alright so this is a bit hard to explain, bear with me. undedicated musings is an anonymous newsletter-based poetry... publication? run by me, under the pen name 'chartreuse', and the whole shtick is that i write poetry, love letters, and whatever else to the person i'll end up spending my life with, but the recipient of said writings is completely unknown, even to me, so im kinda just writing to nobody. until! i actually set my eyes on someone (obviously rsl) and then the writings start to get a bit more specific and yearn-y and personal. since the recipient is anonymous, all the writings are written for a 'vermillion'. both chartreuse and vermillion's identities are revealed when we get married in 1993. and no, rsl doesn't know that i'm chartreuse, nobody does until i reveal myself. i think its kinda cool :3

film based - dead poet's society

(1988-1989)

so for starters, i was part of the crew that worked on the set of dead poets society, now all my friends (except kimya, her and i become friends in the late 90s) make sense! my actual job on set is kind of a vague be-here-and-do-a-bit-of-everything type deal, so there's no set title beyond "assistant to lead" even tho it's essentially government assigned 'friendship' LMAO. but! me and the cast get on like a house on fire, so i kinda just get to tag along on their wacky teenage-ish boy adventures. this totally does not stem from a desire to be part of a teenage boy friend group, and i am, in fact, totally cisgender. i am also lying. anyway, without going into too much detail, me and my s/o-not-yet-s/o (will be referring to him as rsl from this point on) sorta have a painstakingly long will they wont they type deal, because i guess i like torturing myself. we meet a day before all the actual film stuff starts just as a sort of preliminary get to know eachother because you'll be in close proximity VERY often for months. thats some time in march - june-ish? of 1988 (i shift to my dr the day before!) and we don't actually get together until june of 1989. so.

also! some changes to the movie because i can make those: knox overstreet is now played by matthew lillard instead of josh charles, because josh charles is a fucking zionist and i dont want to associate with him in any reality! knox also isnt a b plot to the movie at all, instead focusing on meeks and pitts because i find them much more interesting! and also knox's b plot is creepy as hell! also, the racism against natives (read this!) is completely gone! no thanks!

music based - MAURZI

(1988-2004 technically)

strap in boys because this is the main event of this dr and the lore is VAST. MAURZI (must be spelled in all caps, like MF DOOM) is a sort of musical person/character i've made to tell the story of via a series of albums. i release my first single in october of 1988 titled "lunarian", which is a fun little song about a being from the moon arriving on earth and having some inter-planetary culture shock. and thats the only song i've actually planned! i release 6 total albums that map out the MAURZI storyline kinda

now here's where you get the very extensive MAURZI lore. MAURZI is a sort of alternate-universe representation of me, where in i'm much more famous than i actually am in my dr, and i am absolutely RUINED by my fame in a fuck ton of ways. each album is a different section of her life so i'll explain it album by album. also for reference, in my dr capitalism/ currency isnt a thing, but in the MAURZI... verse? it is. because i like anti capitalist art! same goes for most other media im in/ participate in, actually. MAURZI uses she/her pronouns btw, i dont.

MAURZI - my self-titled album is about as close and personal to my life as i'll get, which an average amount because i still throw in some songs about shit that i have not at all done/ experienced. (ex. songs about cheating, toxic relationships, and things along those lines. thankfully ive had a mostly healthy relationship with relationships! except that one time!) MAURZI is new to the music scene but she's here to make some lovely tunes to help process some stuff! artists im taking inspiration from include (but are not limited to): sarah kinsley, dodie, jeff buckley, tv girl, mitski, and peach pit.

GONE TO SHIT! - MAURZI's first album blew the fuck up! now she's thrown into the midst of dealing with an incomprehensible amount of attention on her at all times, which she was absolutely not prepared for. what does she do to cope? sex drugs and rock n roll, baby! she also gets addicted to 2 outta those 3 things! can you guess which ones?? now, obviously, this album is entirely fictional and is only tangentially inspired by some life events, heavy emphasis on the tangentially. artists im taking inspiration from include (but are not limited to): the nonstick pans, panic! at the disco, forest, david bowie, chappel roan, and king gizzard & the lizard wizard.

Charmed - the love song album! this is basically comprised of songs i sorta wrote about rsl, but changed up a fuck ton because i wrote them while i was pining and did Not want him to knkw who they were about. in terms of MAURZI stuff, she meets someone just after deciding that she's gotta clean up her act if she wants to exist healthily. recovering alongside a loved one and them being a motivator for recovery! now i should specify here that MAURZI's s/o is not the same as mine, and is entirely gender neutral/ doesn't even have a canon(?) human appearance at all. they're named Vermillion because we love a callback! artists im taking inspiration from include (but are not limited to): the smiths, siouxsie and the banshees, james blake, queen, laufey, and her's.

I found Him in Santa Barbara - yknow how when a banana ripens too much and it starts to tuen brown? yeah imagine that logic but applied to recovery, i guess. NOW IS A GOOD TIME TO REITERATE THAT MAURZI AND I ARE TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE AND MAURZI IS JUST A CHARACTER. essentially MAURZI had a spiritual awakening and "found god." but what that ACTUALLY means is that she started viewing vermillion as a sort of god? but she's keeping it on the down low (making an album about it) because she doesn't want vermillion to thing she's CRINGE. themes of loving a god, being IN love with a god, being in lust with a god, temporarily thinking youre a god? stuff along those lines. its a bit intense, VERY experimental and.. heavy? both in themes and in musical style for some portions. this is my fav album out of all of them if you couldnt tell. artists im taking inspiration from include (but are not limited to): sleep token, WILLOW, type o negative, slipknot, lemon demon (specifically songs off spirit phone), hozier, violent vira, pierce the veil, gorillaz kinda, bjork, kate bush, deftones, destroy boys, and rammstein probably.

Waterworks - so yknow how MAURZI was having a whole trouble with god moment? yeah well thats gone now, no i haven't figured out how that'll work narratively, thats for me to figure out in like 10 years from now (now being 1988, naturally.) we've returned to our self-titled roots in terms of musical style! now we've just got some fun themes of trauma and such! and then that's the and of MAURZI as a character story wise, as i said earlier the album after this one is just a Me album. same artist inspo as self titled!

and guess what! music lore isnt even fuckin done! my music in this dr is a multiverse in itself goddamn. so basically the album covers for each album tell a completely seperate story about a completely seperate alter ego/ character/ whatever named Moonzi. name given by my audience (which is my excuse for coming up with such a shitty name and then keeping it.) the story of moonzi, without going into too much detail because i dont wanna type it all out, is a sci-fi type story about a being from the moon (lunarian callback!) on a quest to bring this space artifact back to its original place, basically. a bit more on it later, emphasis on a bit. also! each album cover is drawn by a different artist, and each album artist animates one official music video off their respective album, just cuz i like art and stuff! those music videos kinda follow the moonzi storyline loosely, but incorporate MAURZI elements. is this confusing? hope not. drawings!

SEES, ACKNOWLEDGES, OR IS ABLE TO VIEW THE DOCTOR AS TWO PEOPLE. its really complicated and i really did not have to make it that way, but its cool to me so i really dont care. also we're breakjng the doctor who cycle of boring suit and tie (this is NOT about you 15 <3) and going steampunk-esque. again, cuz i wanna.

marley veitch be in a show without rsl challenge (failed.) i play a character i made up named Nanette Amesbury who is essentially wilson's first ex wife. does he have a canon first ex wife? think so (i actually havent finished house oops.) do i care? you can take a guess. nanette (nicknamed ninny - which im well aware means dumb) is the director of the pediatrics department at princeton plainsboro and she kinda has a fwb type deal with wilson before figuring out shes a lesbian, having a crush on cuddy, being besties with kutner, then leaving the show in season 6. (zeth if ur reading this yes i made her show up for more than 2 seconds she just. means so much to me. also i want cudbury content.) im also a writer for the show so im there for its entire run time :3 i really like this show :3

- i have 2 siblings in my dr (not here im an only child in my cr womp womp) named lia and monty, theyre my best friends in my cr!

- ive also got a cat! she's a ragdoll kitty named yvonne, shes a sweetheart!

- i scripted out light pollution so the sky is all pretty at night, highly recommend you do the same

(in my head it would be similar to little homeworld in steven universe in that everyone just kinda lives there and they dont NEED to have jobs or anything but they all enjoy having a task to do and something to keep them busy yknow)

tea kettle has her own deli/bakery type place where she just makes food for everyone :) blueberry helps her with all the baking. lifering spends some time there but he's also got his own thing going on so he isnt exactly an employee or whatever he just hangs around and annoys everyone <3 love is so beautiful

soap has a cleaning service which isn't actually a service where she just goes around cleaning everyone's bedrooms etc cuz she enjoys it. which is fine cuz most of them dont really like cleaning all that much. the floor is sometimes her lil assistant cuz he will eat ANYTHING including dirt

bow, dough, knife marshmallow and apple just chill together at mepad mansion they dont really have any jobs or responsibilities. knife hangs out w/ pickle and soap sometimes and plays video games with them and suitcase comes to visit. i like to imagine bot and apple drawing together cuz theyre both artists but im not sure how realistic that would be considering..... the circumstances (bow doesnt really mind bot but bot is Not a huge fan of bow and generally avoids her. which is pretty easy cuz she's stuck at the mansion)

balloon just writes his little poems. maybe he enjoys reading all the books at the library. i could see him helping cabby out there sometimes with resorting and everything (nickel and baseball are also there, regularly, to torment him in front of his new friends)

this is sooo specific but i could see the cherries, fan and paintbrush and maybe lightbulb or someone?? starting a community theater together where they just put on different productions and occasional musical performances by spoiled lemon. i feel like they would thrive in a community event-planning environment. they love to organize and build different sets and costumes

^ silver spoon would also LOVE to perform in their plays and productions its like his dream. he has sooo much fun

lifering (maybe dr fizz) is primarily in charge of helping fix up any objects who are injured but dont exactly need to be recovered like with knife's broken leg. kind of like a doctor but not exactly. i also imagine test tube would get involved with this somehow.... she could single-handedly invent the concept of ibuprofen <3

other than helping with the community theater etc Fan is just everyone's daily annoyance. he goes where he's needed

oj is kind of like the "mayor" of inanimate island but in reality most of the big decisions are group-based and voted on so he and paper are mostly in charge of like the construction of actual buildings. EVERYONE has to help with construction btw. if you are physically capable of helping you Will be assigned a task while they're rebuilding the library and hotel oj

Trophy i feel like he would just enjoy the concept of having a place to "exercise" or compete in weird mini-challenges like rock climbing or whatever. just for anyone who kinda misses having a fun lil contest with their friends. he takes it super seriously for no reason though like this is his LIFES PURPOSE the towels will be restocked there will be reuseable water bottles available chilled to the perfect temperature. in a way its kinda sweet but he's also still an asshole

so ever since i drew that lil thing of essek painting a frank stella inspired painting (or even before), ive been thinking of what kinds of art each of the m9 would do. essek ofc is inspired by a minimalist show that i went to here, all the big names from that movement were shown, but those really dark, sinkhole-like paintings are speaking to me. another artwork of boxes made of mirrors also seems like the thing he would do too

there's a kiln here that we visited which was huge, and surrounding it were artists' studios and some other ceramic sellers, i imagine the clay family having a place like this in the middle of nowhere amongst the trees, and caleb would do his work there

anyways because at heart im a shadowgast luver its centred around them,, they meet at an artist residency or something like that and its an incredibly slow burn that involves talking and not-talking and looking and not-looking. in the end i am but a simple wong kar wai fan so. that kinda vibes would definitely influence this, i would describe it as a quiet burning i guess?? time skipy and words that are not said

i think im gonna rant a bit more about their different mediums and styles so i'll keep it under the cut

i think caleb sculpts figures and portraits, but in a sad, kathe kollwitz charcoal vibe. maybe some funky looking animals, perhaps some pots and vases to look at the pretty glazes. he's interested in using fire to burn texture into different mediums, like ive seen it being used on shellac to make a really cool net of ink looking structure.. but yknow, just seeing the aftermath of glazed ceramic from the kiln is enough, and probably better for him to keep his distance anyways

the clay family produces most of the ceramic to sell, vases, pots, plates, cups, teapots, yknow just a whole array. and its really colourful too, depicting every family members different style. i think caduceus would do some matte glazes with a lot of different colours, theyre all a little wonky but theyre better off that way anyways. he does some really mean ink calligraphy and painting though

jester definitely does,, everything, whatever her heart desires kinda thang. she makes pastel textile installations and lighthearted cute paintings, but theyre always so contemplative and soothing. she gets m9 a lot of work cus her mom has connections, etc etc. i really love the idea of jester creating works that talk about the female body and femininity (definitely not projecting no)

beau is a printmaker and photographer who's really experimental, she loves cyanotypes and printing flowers (for yasha), idk she seems like she would put fabric and rocks into the washing machine to see what would happen. u would probably catch her in someone elses studio learning about what they do or in the library learning about what old people did

veth works in a museum as a curator, getting beau to help her sometimes with gathering artworks and artists etc. she probably organises community art projects for kids and public art installations. her house is full of m9's artworks and various other artists shes worked with.

yasha does bouquets as her post-retirement part time job, prior to that no one really knows what she did ("she probably murdered a bunch of people and is now hiding from the government"). fjord draws comics for fun but is also not a job for him, molly is a question mark for me. but these guys probably wont be in it as much anyways

im still not sure what format i wanna do this in, im actually having fun just writing it in my notebook now (digital does not facilitate the creative juices) but i do want to do some visuals like fake movie stills or storyboards. maybe they will work together well???? dunno. working on the other shadowgasty thing im doing made me realise how much easier it is to draw when there's a script already there, so im writing the script for myself

im definitely not as practiced in writing as i am in drawing, but idk im just gonna have some fun and see where that takes me, meanwhile try not to feel too bad that its fanart HAHA (very bad habit)

i am so like. genuinely sick of people acting like they know my own life better than i do like. its always out of some "worry" or whatever but i still think its stupid and it pisses me off.

ive had the plan for years now to start up my etsy/twitch/youtube stuff, get a "real" job til those pick up (probably years and years down the line obviously), and then eventually not have to work a "real" job anymore because of it. (long term i want to make my own video games but thats likely after all this). but everyone seems to think that it wont work out, or my stuff isnt good enough, or im pricing things too low, or im stupid and i dont know that a lot of it is based on luck, or that those markets are saturated already, or that im just lazy for not wanting to work, or that i somehow dont realize thats not feasible and im naive or some godamn toddler who doesnt know anything about the real world etc.

like its really tiring constantly hearing about how its unrealistic, or that you need to suffer to make a living and you're obviously gonna need to get a real job like everyone else/keep the one youve got once it doesnt work out for you dumbass. or hearing that im charging people too little for my art because "oh my friend sells his portraits for hundreds" okay. am i that guy. do you understand how anything works. like who. asked for your opinion???

hearing from people like oh maybe you should try this, maybe you should try that, as if i dont already have plans. and like yeah maybe some of it is because im stubborn like that and if im set on something im not gonna listen to other peoples opinons of what i should apparently change or whatever because like. im doing me. im doing what i wanna do and ill get there, and im not stupid for thinking that it could work out for me.

yes i know its not guaranteed, yes i know im probably not gonna make that much, yes i know i need to work a "real" job too in the meantime, i do not need to be told over and over again like i dont already know these things.

not even just that but also hearing from everyone (friends even sometimes but mostly family) that its weird or its childish to want to play/make games for a living, or make earrings/plushies/charms, or do character art for people, etc. jokes like oh haha youre just a little gamer lol how cute. or just having it seem like everything i enjoy and love is just a joke or something funny or something that makes me a child that i'll just eventually realize is stupid and start functioning like a normal person instead. even just people not really understanding and giving (well meaning? sometimes?) weird looks about stuff puts me off so much. like oh no :( shes stupid...does she know?

Dazai and chuuya have been seeing both more and less of each other since that night

More because Dazai has been taking his new job of protecting chuuya very seriously, albeit with some jokes around here and there

And less because chuuya has been overcompensating at work over a flaw his boss doesn't even know about. By taking in extra missions, he's making it up to mori in hopes that fate will go easy on him when he can no longer hide his belly

Kouyo has also been going on more missions with chuuya as well. Even on missions where her presence was not needed

All this makes chuuya feel uneasy, he knows something is up. One afternoon, on their day off (chuuyas day off, dazai just didn't come into work that day) the two of them were on either side of the couch in dazais apartment, which is nowhere near as large and fancy as chuuyas, but they like it there.

Dazai is reading a book on omega male pregnancies while chuuya tries to read a book of his own. However, something was on his mind

"Hey, dazai" chuuya asks. Dazai lifts up his book to look chuuya in the eye. "What's up?"

Chuuya doesn't speak for a second. He doesn't even look at him. With his eyes focused on the ceiling where a fan is slowly pacing around its axis, he asks him a question

"Do you and kouyo have...something you want to tell me?"

Dazai sits up, putting his book down on his lap with a confused expression on his face

"No...why?"

Chuuyas grip on his book hardens as he grits his teeth

"Don't fucking lie to me" He growls

"Huh? Chuuya what do yo-"

"I said don't lie to me!"

Chuuya erupts from the couch in a fit of rage, a kind of rage dazai has never seen before

"I know that you two have been eyeing me like crazy! Helicoptering me like I'm some dumb little child! I'm not weak! Stop treating me like I am!"

"Chuuya calm down-"

"Just because I'm pregnant doesn't mean i-"

"Doesn't mean what, chuuya?!"

Dazai's sudden outburst catches chuuya off guard.

"Chuuya I have spent my whole life by myself. Everything I love keeps being taken away from me. And now that I have something valuable, something like you, you think I'd just let it go that easily? You think I'd just play willy nilly with its soul? Your wellbeing is much more important to me than mine and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to keep you safe. And you don't even appreciate it. No "thank you dazai" no "you're so sweet dazai" it's always just complaining with you! Sometimes I even wonder if you love me at all!"

A hush falls over the room.

"Dazai, i-"

"Save it. I need some air" He fixes the collar of his coat and leaves the apartment

Chuuya is left alone, just like he knew he'd be

But this time it wasn't all dazais fault like it was before. Back then he could easily blame him for everything, for leaving, for abandoning him, for all the pain he caused. But now? This is all on chuuya. Maybe if he had been different, maybe if he was less....like himself, dazai would be happier to be with him

And now not only is he alone, but so is his future child. He puts a hand on his stomach as he looks down, a sorrowful look on his face.

"I'm so sorry little one...." He whispered to it.

Meanwhile, dazai walks down the dark streets of Yokohama as the rain showered him in despair. He doesn't mind his coat getting wet, it's seen worse

He heads into a local bar and takes a seat in a booth, alone with his thoughts. He doesn't know how long he's been in there until a man joins him in his booth.

"I knew you'd be here" kunikida says as he takes a seat across from him

"What?" Dazai asks, begging him to cut to the chase. He's not in the mood to talk.

"Heard about you and chuuya." Kunikida says as he takes a sip from his glass

Dazai sighs. "Sometimes I think I'm the only one who makes an effort in this relationship, yknow? I know we have history but, is that it? Are we just staying together because it feels familiar? And now we've got this kid and....I just....I don't know...."

Kunikida let's him finish talking and waits a second before starting

"You want my advice?"

"I'd rather have that drink in your hand"

Kunikida hands the glass over to dazai "i think you two are toxic as hell"

Dazai makes a subtle surprised look

"You both think you're doing the most while the other does the bare minimum. You both think the other has horrible qualities. You both find each other familiar. But you stick together despite it all. Maybe that's not just because it's familiar. Maybe you stick together because you know it's right. What I love about your relationship is that you can say whatever you want to each other and the next day you're still there. Plus, given the type of person you are, he probably had to deal with just as much. You're perfect for each other because you two are so goddamn imperfect that it just fits. A broken glass only stays together if the pieces that broke fit."

Dazai didn't expect to take any of kunikidas advice. He was planning on barely listening and just leaving him to pay his tab. But to his surprise, he got to him

Dazai gets up from his sadly slouched position and sits up properly, giving kunikidas words a lot of thought. He traced the rim of the glass with his finger. It was funny because he was doing the same thing in the same booth at this very bar, when he had his first drink witj chuuya

They were both still in the mafia back then, only about 15, when they took down a small group of thugs that were robbing the bar. Not for any righteous reason, though, the group had just been a big pain in the Port Mafia's trading business by stealing months worth of products so Double Black were sent to get rid of them

Chuuya was having a particularly bad day that day, and his anger let him do most of the fighting. Meanwhile, dazai got bored and distracted himself by examining an old looking bottle of brown liquid

By the time chuuya was done, dazai had started calling him over

"Oi! Chibi! Check this out!" He called

"I'm right here next to you you don't need to shout!" "Says the guy shouting right now! "What do you want?!"

"Check this out" dazai said, showcasing the fancy old bottle

"Scotch? You think you can take that?" Chuuya asks

"Oh and you can?" Dazai rebutted

"Please, I grew up in tje slums, if we were thirsty it was either this or the shit-infested water down by the creek. Give me that" he grabbed the bottle right out of dazais slender hands and took a swig out of it

He immediately regretted it as tje moment the liquid entered his mouth and went down his throat, tje boy coughed and gagged, choking on the horrid flavor, much to dazais delight

"Oooh look who can't handle a sip of a little alcohol! Mister Slumlord Gangster!" He teased as he took a confident gulp of the same drink

The feeling was intense. Words his little 15 year old mind couldn't fathom its flavor. In mere seconds he was a coughing, gagging mess just like his friend over there

Once their lungs had settled, dazai took a look at his unfriendly companion. It was only now that he realized how similar they actually were. Just two messed up teenagers barking way too big for their bite and projecting their insecurities on each other. But at least they did it together

"Um, sir?" An unfamiliar voice asked

Dazai snapped out of his trance to look up at the waiter

"Were closing now, sir. Please come back tomorrow"

Dazai and kunikida walked out of the bar to be greeted by the rain.

"You do some thinking for once, okay?" Kunikida said as a parting gift as the two of them went their separate ways

Dazai thought about chuuya the entire way home. As he entered his apartment, he realized, wait, isn't chuuya supposed to be here?

He looked around the small area and saw no sign that he was even there. The place was as he had left it, minus chuuyas things.

It wasn't like he was moving out, he had never moved in in the first place, but something about how empty the place looked without him just didn't feel right.

He figured he had just gone home. Taking his phone and dialing his number, he thought about what he was even going to say. How do you have an outburst like that and just leave? What are you supposed to say after that?

Dazai wasn't going to admit he was wrong. Was he wrong even? He didn't know. But maybe this was something he could work out with chuuya

Chuuyas phone rang, causing vibrations that went around the side of his pants. He took it out of his pocket and examined the small screen, making an uneasy face as he realized it was dazai. He took a second to imagine the pros and cons of answering, but after a few seconds the ring tone was bothering him, so he decided to do it anyway

"Hey, i-"

"Listen. I'm sorry about what I said, but I don't think it was wrong. We both have flaws and I think our relationship is strong enough to work through that. I'm sorry I yelled, okay? Please come back so we can talk about this."

"Dazai, I'll talk to you later, I'm at work." "Oh right. Sorry. I'll talk to you later"

Tje call ended and chuuya put his phone down.

"Call from the hubby?" Mori asked, turning around to face chuuya as he walked

"Yeah, we just got into this big fight, it's no big deal. And hey, he's not my husband."

They were walking down one of the many hallways of the Port Mafia headquarters when they stopped in front of a small empty room

"Not married, I see..." . Mori said witj a smile, watching chuuya walk ahead of him into the room.

"That's gonna change after you have the baby, though, right?"

Chuuya turned to face mori with eyes big as saucers

Before he could say anything or make a move, a thick layer of glass appeared to separate them, or mostly just to keep him inside. No matter how much he kicked or punched or manipulated his way out, he still couldn't make a scratch.

"You must've thought I was a fool to think I wouldn't find out" mori said

"Boss! I can still work through this! I can still be useful! I promise!"

"I don't need another mouth, chuuya." Mori shrugged off his statement as he slowly walked away

"You and your child are of no use to us now."

Ahh what a sweet little movie.. While the wacky shenanigans are my favorite part of this show, I always still love a slice of life "nothing happens" kind of plot. And it couldn't have come at a better time honestly. I've been feeling like Totoko a lot lately.

As a character, Totoko hasn't really been focused on in depth very often, but it's clear that she's always had a problem with comparing herself to others. She always wants to be better than everyone else, and feels self conscious about it. She's also always trying to force herself into feminine stereotypes that don't really fit her personality or interests. It's nice to see that explored a little more here, though it's osomatsu san so they won't get too deep into it of course.

She's anxious at the pressure to become a "real adult" like Nyaa and her brother Fighting Yowai are. Specifically the focus here seems to be on having children. I mean when you really think about it, that's the supposed "end goal" of being what society says is a "proper adult" yknow? Especially for women. She's clearly feeling kinda behind when she's seeing Nyaa chan be an independent single mother, and now with her brother coming home with his wife and new baby. Totoko is nowhere near ready to be independent like that.

Sooo it's easier to just forget about real life for a while and hang out with the Matsus! They're always the same, ever since they were kids! They're not "real adults" either, but they seem to be carefree and having lots of fun every day! So everyone in town who has to work so hard, they can just party with the matsus for as long as they can!

The matsus are sorta anxious about their lack of independence too, but that feeling kinda lessened ever since season 1. It seems like over time they accepted it to the point where they're PROUD to be NEETS now, or at least apathetic to it. So to them, they don't really understand why everyone else wants the sleepover to last forever. Time stands still for them anyway.

Plus either way, while they are pressured by society to be "proper adults", it's kinda different for them as cis men. Totoko's focus on having children is something that comes with very different social expectations and baggage. Pretty much all women are expected to be mothers someday, and it can feel incredibly stifling and stressful when you know that there's a time limit on that. A time limit on finding a partner and settling down, thats terrible! Plus then, even when that happens, the idealized version is never the reality. At the party, everyone is so happy. The old guys are full of energy, and Nyaa's toddler is behaving as a perfect cute angel. But in the split second flashbacks at the end, we can see the tedium of their day to day jobs, Matsuyo coping with aging, the struggles Nyaa goes through to raise her baby alone, ...Dayon's cat dies or something.. idk

So isn't it easier to forget about that reality and hang around with the matsus, who always go at their own pace? That's way more fun!

I've also been thinking too, on a more personal level. Gosh this show is 8 years old. ITS 8 YEARS OLD!!! ITS IN THE THIRD GRADE! What a nightmare the passage of time is. So yeah I've been feeling like Totoko. And I'm sentimental about this show! For whatever reason, my brain decided to fixate on it for all this time.

The matsus were kinda my ambassadors to adulthood really. I just graduated highschool and was starting my first semester of college when I first watched this show. And the feeling of "oh god we're supposed to be adults but we don't know what we're doing!!" that went from being funny to WAY TOO RELATABLE super quickly. And man, back then I certainly didn't think id still be feeling that way after 8 years. I'll probably be feeling it forever. Buuut reality still goes on and time is passing, and we're all older and Nyaa chan's baby is a toddler now. But the matsus are the same, and for a little while we can forget about reality and party with them for a little while~!

Even if the matsus are reeeeeeallly sick of it..

And that reminds me of another thing too. When the matsus were like sick and dying and begging for sleep when the whole town was forcing them to keep partying... That.. was meta commentary right? Like, I can't interpret that any other way. Like the show writers are just trying to tell us that they're BURNT OUT. Which, let's be fair, that's understandable I guess. (I mean not to ME because I feel like the matsus have infinite stories they could be used for but. anyway.) If that's true, and the writers are just begging to let the matsus finally go to sleep. I'm kinda fine with it! I genuinely think that this movie is a PERFECT series finale. It brushes on the anxiety of adulthood that the show is known for, it gives a spotlight to the beloved side characters, and it feels like a nice calm little summary of the whole thing. We had a fun party with these guys, and we can go back and play with them whenever we get tired of being adults for a while.

...so yea! I liked it! :3

And I'll be ready in 20-30 years when they reboot it as Osomatsu-Ojiisan where the brothers are all middle aged lmao

So because of my hentel mealth i havent really been able to read or do creative stuff so Ive just been spending most of my time properly synching up the subtitles i have for various takarazuka Elisabeth productions and idk how coherent this is gonna be bc I dont know how much of an overlap there is between people who like to complain about sjm books and euromusical fans, but I cant stop comparing Death and Rhysand and getting even more pissed off about Rhysand

like, listen, both of these guys are weirdo freaks who feel entitled to and are oddly possessive of a young vulnerable woman but the thing about Death is that hes like that because hes meant to be like, a metaphor for what its like to have suicidal thoughts and for what its like to live in ~turbulant times~ so hes kinda alluring but also very scary and in the original austrian production hes just fuckinh flingin people around, but Rhys is not a metaphor or a personification of a concept, hes just a guy. Not just that but hes meant to be like, the better guy. thats wild right. Rhysand, the guy who endangered Feyre for no fucking reason with the weaver stunt he pulled and whos forced her to lie to and steal from a potential political ally whos been nothing but kind to both of them, is the better one. and im making a point here to only mention the acomaf crimes Ive witnessed so far, obviously hes done and will do a lot worse

And you wanna know what the worst part is? Its what it always comes down to and its what I always complain about, he doesnt even serve cunt. And that truly is the worst thing about Rhysand for me because I am a very shallow person, if he wore black lipstick, if he wore clothes that glitter, if he dressed like some kinda dracula instead of just wearing plain black leather most of the time, not only would I not care about the actually shitty things he did, I would not care about him being pathetic and annoying, which, him being annoying is worse to me than any of the shitty things he did btw because hes not even interesting or endearing while hes doing those things yknow what I mean

like idk, im working on the 1996 star troupe production where Deathbis played by Asaji Saki and she does a really good job playing this inhuman weirdo experiencing regular sincere human emotions for the first and being made vulnerable by that experience, its genuinely pretty cute. theres this scene where he briefly interacts with rudolf, elisabeths child son, and then it transitions into a different scene and a bunch of recurring adult characters run onstage and Death trips one of them up to make rudolf laugh and its just cute and genuine yknoe. Whenever Rhys has a quote unquote vulnerable moment thats supposed to humanize him (that isnt just him being a horndog) it just feels so fake me, like when he talked to Feyre about Tarquin being easy to love and being noble because he had it easy while Rhysands been suffering or whatever i was just like, buddy youre doing that to yourself, if you wanted equality for the lower fae in the night court you couldve already done that in the 500 years youve been on the throne literally no one is stopping you

Also I was thinking of going back to doing 2 groups of contestants at a time again, y'know 8 votes at once. Because let's face it this bracket is huge & honestly some of the entrants I kiiiind of wish I didn't put in.

Example of what I mean: Hanamusa. Don't get me wrong I love that ship, they've brought me so much comfort. But honestly they got like 600 votes. & Something about seeing them bring in THAT MUCH ATTENTION but none of the other polls got anywhere close to that kind of attention & knowing they'll probably just completely sweep the entire thing makes me think putting them in was not a great move. If only because it's gonna be super unfair & also makes me a bit sad that none of the other parts of the bracket are gonna get that much attention. Hm, well, gonna be honest I'm not super sure what his crime is now. I know what I find the most interesting storytelling wise but Kazui is also a Lying Liar Man.

I Love It When Characters are Horribly Resigned To Their Situations!!!! "Tragedy Enjoyers when The Tragedy Happens" Moment Fr. Kazui's super interesting to me since he's basically...given up. He's given up on getting anything he wanted and he has horrible self-loathing and is just resigned to never being really Happy, and yet he still Wants and that Wanting is already "bad" no matter if he acts on it or not.

Jupiter: But if it's only what I feel inside that matters, what am I supposed to do? I can't stop that kind of touch.

He's unsatisfied and disillusioned and self-destructive and it be so much easier if he was just...not "like this". Whatever This is. His family seems to be very traditional overall too and there's a lot of discussion going on about societal normal and standards.

Also also! His relationship with love fucks me up, both him and Mahiru's. It's like an obligation of sorts. Something that makes them more marketable and presentable. Their love can feel so...impersonal as a result if that makes sense. Like it's just a quota they need to fill.

Even Mahiru's actually! It's weird to think about considering how loud Mahiru is about it but there's something so vaguely impersonal about Mahiru's love. Like "This is how to be in love with you" as a title plays off that in a way. The other person doesn't get to put any input into it, this is how your Supposed to be loved.

Kazui's relationship with love is so interesting to me as a result, it's so performative and is used for his own Marketability as a person. I'm still obsessed about how Kazui and Mahiru portray love as something that is sold to people-

Plus all of this gives him some Fun Parallels with the other cat person he's paired up with. It's interesting to see how both of them deal with being perceived as inherently sinful in some way and against societal norms.

I dunno I just think Kazui is super interesting! He's an interesting fella!

15. what do you think of their voice?

I love how she sounds so much! She can sound so happy and cheeky and sweet in one moment and then ominous, angry and downright terrifying the next. Her VA is great, Tanaka Minami does such a fantastic job as her. Amane can sound so very different and yet still sound like Her. Compare Animal to Positive Parade or Magic to Purge March and even though they sound so different they still sound like Her! Magic's mostly consistent tone and emotions making it feel restrained and carefully presented vs Purge March's various different emotions and tones and just how Different it can sound depending on the part is So cool! She can go from angry to sad to bitter to defeated to joyfully ecstatic and all of those at once!

Like at the end of Purge March, Amane always sounds like she's at the verge of crying to me. The emotional catharsis was so very real there!!! It's so good!!! It's so good!!!!

16. how do you think they actually sing in regular life?

Once again directing people to how Amane seems to be in Choir.

I know people who were in choir those people can Sing Alright. Out of everyone in the cast she is probably the most likely person to know how to actually sing properly. Plus I always think it's funny that Amane quietly calls the cult's music boring in an interrogation. I choose to believe she can Sing Really Well and that when she gets out of the cult she gets Really Into Metal.

Kouri Arisa is a wonderful singer and I'm incredibly impressed with her vocals and acting. I don't have much to say on her compared to Amane but I love how she sounds so much. There's something kinda...floaty about it I guess? I dunno how to describe it, it's just sort of airy and whispery like, Muu is telling you a secret. I think it's really cool and it makes the parts where she sounds more confident and loud contrast really well.

Decently I think? Like average overall. I think she knows a few songs by heart though and for those in particular she sounds really good.

Hi from another geology student. What is your specialty/interest area in geology? I can't figure it out. Mine is igneous petrology/geochemistry, particularly silica undersaturated rocks such as carbonatites. And I just get excited when you mention monazite and neodymium. You seem to have similar interest. But you hate mineral ID??

And what is your research on?

Mate your guess is as good as mine re my specality!!! I have spent the past few years researching mineral yield efficiency for zircon and other heavy minerals (GREAT for age dating, gold panning, probably REE mining, etc) but I wouldn't call it my specality.

The monazite is because of my mineralogy project! Ec-501, my sample, had suprise monazite in it. Ngl, it did fuck up some of my data because I was working on assumptipn regarding its location but SHRUG. Nd was also in the sample, but I am researching it a little with my mineral yield because it's great for digging out magnetic minerals and shavings from our rock crusher. (still on the fence about wet vs dry pulling tho)

I honestly don't know what my interest is? I like geology. I hate anything fluvial, but I don't have too much experience with any one area to say much. While I do like mineralogy and thought it would be my fit, there's a little too much heavy math involved? And I have a love hate relationship with min id.. Like... I enjoy doing it, I think, just not for a grade. And I'm way better with hand id versus thin sec, because the latter just has so many variables and I still don't fully understand slow vs fast ray or how to use the accessory plate or how to differentiate monazite and zircon.

Mostly I just like working in a lab with rocks, be it crushing them or grain picking or whatever. I'm hoping, post grad, to get a job as a lab rat for some company. I'm not fit enough for extensive field work, plus a lot of companies I have spoken to want to have someone who is willing to stay inside! (I had one company give me the info of their CEO and almost beg me to call him for a job because they desperately needed someone who would help the CEO on retainer wall design and yknow. stay. tf. inside.)

But tl;dr. I don't really know what my interest is, I'm just happy doing grunt work as long as I can stay inside. I do know my dislikes; fluvial geomorph is too difficult for me, certain aspects of mineralogy are difficult, and I'm not able to do field work. While there are things I do like, I'm still kind of searching for my big thing.

I just finished season 4 and unlike with the others I didnt have a whole lot to say as a was watching, mainly because I was actually enjoying myself and thought the season was mostly really good ? absolutely wild. Nevertheless I have some thoughts

I LOVE Alya and Marinette working together, its a delight. When I talk about "man can you imagine if MLB did like a magical girl show and focused on female friendships instead of catfighting" THIS is what Im talking about!! And Idgaf about how this affects the Love Square at this point, this is all Ive wanted! Also, I feel like Alya and Nino knowing each others identities cheapens the Love Square conflict more than anything but I cant fully articulate why so I'll just leave it at that

The Love Square is in a very strange place where, when the identity reveal finally does happen, its simultaneously going to feel like its too little too late (a la the destiel confession bc this fucking show is just straight queerbaiting) and rushed because like. what kind of development is there between these two. They barely focused on romance this season (which is definitely part of why I think its better lol) but I dont mean that in the sense that we had less catfights and Marinette making a fool of herself for no reason, I mean that in the sense that it barely felt like they interacted at all, atleast to me so thats kinda odd

In the past Ive complained about how the civillian plotline usually feels very disconnected from the superhero/akuma plotline and I think theyve done a much better job, my favorite episode of the season is probably Qilin both for tying the akuma into the civillian plot and for having a somewhat unique conflict resolution. In general, I liked that we had people rejecting akumas as well as preventative measures in form of the charms, although I do think it sucks that a few episodes afterwards Shadowmoth just figures out a way to circumvent them and then its back to business as usual. I feel like a better workaround would be that the charms can only protect you from one akumatization each, so like, the charm Ladybug gave her grandfather in Simpleman can only protect him from becoming Simpleman again, but if he turns into Bakerix, she needs to give him a different charm. But I do find the charms cute

The new heroes all suck tbh, the only design I liked was Purple Tigress and Pigella came close to looking kinda good but then they made it this intensely unflattering shade of pink, which I find impressive because Rose is already wearing an completely different intensely unflattering shade of pink in her civillian form. One thing that I appreciated about whatever Mylenes superhero form is called, Pigella and Purple Tigress is that they had more justifiable reasons for Ladybug to pick them than most of the heroes in the last season, who were mostly just picked because They Were There ig. And then Penealteam rolled around and we were back to doing exactls that kind of bullshit. great.

Also, Ive already talked about this in a seperate post, but if they absolutely insisted on looking for a replacement for the Bee, it shouldve been Sabrina and they shouldntve invented a whole new character for it

Adrien got a little more focus this season and we actually got some insight into his character when hes not either The Object Of Marinettes Idolization or Ladybugs Punny Sidekick Thats Slowly Becoming Obsolete which I enjoyed because he has a lot of potential from a dramatic standpoint what with being Hawkmoths son and all, but hes usually so bland that I dont really care too much so this was pretty nice. And it only took us 4 seasons for him to get some focus, yknow, the other superhero in the title? Well better late than never I guess

Speaking of Adrien, Ive made quite a few posts where I said that this season would be ruined for me the second the Sentiadrien reveal happens but it never did, we're getting that in season 5 and I am not looking forward it especially considering the small taste Ive already gotten of it with Adrien being very obviously controlled by that ring. Like, I'll probably talk about it in more detail when it gets fleshed out in the show but for now I'll just say it doesnt make the stakes higher like the writers seem to think, it make the story wayyyy less interesting and it feels like its supposed to be an explanation for Adriens behaviour towards his father when we absolutely do not need one beyond "hes being abused"

I know I said that I thought this season was really good and now Im just just complaining mostly like I always do but idk, Im not as good at formulating my positive thoughts as my negative ones. The last thing I'll say is that I loved Scarabella and I loved her design and I loved the whole episode she was in, as well as the entirety of Sentibubbler, Alya really served this season

i spent the weekend watching various horror movies in netflix (my moms accnt obvs) cos i was too lazy to pir/ate anything. i watched uuh.. konferensen 2023 (it was fine, it was a good time), split 2016 (p good imo tho the superhuman angle was kinda silly to me. but it was interesting. solid. ending was a bit unsatisfying tbh? and the msg quite confusing? like i geddit, empowered victims.. but the kidnapper ended up becoming a perpetrator too? and the fl didnt shoot him in that crucial moment AND they also didnt show what she ended up doing abt her uncle. idk if the plan was 2 make a sequel but it all ended up coming off as.. pretty lukewarm..), the stepfather 2009 (nice. rly straight foward w the premise tho not super focused w its message.. like it was abt family but it gave too much focus to the protags gf? which i thought was a bit juvenile like we get it they are teens in love now lets get back to the dude trying to murder the whole family please.. also i kept thinking the story wud have been fun from the mothers perspective as well.. oh and a bit more bg & development for the killer wud hv been stellar), monster 2023 (indonesian) (plot was p standard (rly reminded me of that free ice cream horror flash game) but i rly liked it visually! rly cool scenography!! it almost had no dialogue & that was rly refreshing and interesting. it really didnt need any), and today i watched longlegs 2024 w my sister (which i did pirat/e)..uuuuummm... ok SPOILERS for longlegs

i rly liked the way it was filmed n the photography. also the music/sound dsgn. the time setting was confusing as hell for me tho?? like idk im not usamerican but the story supossedly took place in the 2000s but it all looked like the 70s to me???? and there are big differences between the 2 eras its not like im THAT period blind. the only scene i thought oh yeah theres no way this is the 70s is a scene in which you can see computers in the bg but anyways. the movie.

it started off GREAT. very eerie.. i had no clue abt the plot or anything btw i went into it completely blind.. so i had no idea if the movie was going for a realistic angle or a more supernatural angle. it rly reminded me of it follows 2014 not bc the fl was played by the same actress (it was) but bc everything that was happening seemed not quite real. like a dream. i loved that..

so ok. its p clear from the beginning that something is p weird (supernatural weird) abt this whole thing. the fl makes my suspicions grow bc shes some sort pf psychic so i though ok the killer is def some kind of hypnotist. i was wrong tho, whatever. lets skip a lot of stuff. plot twist it was the devil all along. i felt kinda silly bc im usually p good/fast understanding movies (esp this type of movies) but i was so confused by the end of this.. i was like huh.. wait what do you mean the devil is real in this story. it was rly easy to catch onto that btw i was just still expecting a psychic weirdo killer angle idk maybe i liked that idea more deep down lol? but it wasnt so my sister was like dude are you serious the devil was right there in one scene and i was like what. she went back to that scene. the devil was right there. oh ok. wait then what about the scene in which the mother shoots the dolls head why did she do that if the deal wasnt over. and what about the surviving victim why did she kill herself after the ball was out of the dolls head. oh god i almost forgot what abt the chief(?)s (no ok i literally cnt remember either his name nor job title im so sorry. yanno lees boss) did not even ONCE say smt like "oh hey my daughter has the same age n bd date than all the other daughters from the victim families. thats peculiar. lets take some measures maybe?" like forget that last part, why wasnt this even BROUGHT UP. another ridiculous thing abt this was the "birthday party" lee was invited to if thats even what you can call it.. most of the movie i was waiting for an actual party, with lots of people (STAKES, yknow?) but lee was literally the only person invited apparently?? what was up w that. also why didnt the fl shoot the dolls head at the bd party in the first place why did she wait until the dad started killing ppl. also the deal was supposed to end with the 13th victim i think so why did the mother say she will keep killing. me & my sister concluded well idk lets sleep on it i guess. yeah.

overall enjoyable and interesting, but i feel like the plot-twist reveal and the ending were a bit idk rushed?? like ill be quite honest i didnt feel anything abt the mother being the accomplice???? it was good in concept but was a bit lacking in execution.. like. why shud i even care.

since urgrhrh grits teeth. the ending of asgv2 was soooo perfect for further progression with gunvolt finally grieving and copen's whole shit but continuing on that would require More focus on copen as a major character when he ALREADY has his own spinoff and a gunvolt who's just kind of Content is difficult to work with

and like i GET the decision but the ending was so good and it had the fucking plot hook with qiao and nori!! whadda hell were they gonna do!!! and the shards of the muse and urgh. and then it's just Ye Distant Future and gunvolt's a ghost now.

and maybe that's hypocritical because "feli dont you fucking adore laix, which is also a timeskip au game" and like YES but laix is a spinoff and doesn't promise to continue the story of agsv at all and instead does its own separate thing. so it doesnt sting because i didnt EXPECT laix to continue this arc

yet laix has actually done a BETTER job at continuing where laix2 left off because it shows what copen at the end of his journey looks like and how his beliefs crystalized in fighting for the underdog, no matter who it might be, best seen in how he accepts Blade.

yet laix also doesnt TRULY deliver because copen in that setting is proven RIGHT in his hatred for adepts because of asimov's dogshit and I ALREADY TALKED ABOUT THE EUGENICS I ALREADY TALKED ABOUT THE EUGENICS. GODDAMN. WRAUGH. FUCK.
