Yao: guys. *closes fan* I have a business partner coming today.
Mo xuanyu: business partner? What are you guys gonna discuss?
Xue yang: are you two getting married?
Yao: *laughing* no yangyang!
We're going to talk about how our empires are going to help each other and preserve bonds.
Xue yang: so you're getting married politically?
Yao: I don't need to do that anymore. Because people just naturally fall for my dimples.
Xue yang: you're right.
Su she: empire, Huangdi?
Yao: mhm, she's indeed the empress of Phoenix spirits.
Trio: SHEEEEEE?????? *gasps*
Yao: team D relax. She'll just be here for a few days. Also she'll go check up on Zish too, as he's still recovering.
Su she: well that's lovely, Huangdi. You always do things for the betterment of your empire.
Yao: mn.
Xue yang: but aren't you and Qin Su hooking back up
Yao: yea, planning to. Xue yang I'm not going to marry the phoenix empress.
Xue yang: shoot.
I was planning on carrying you two on a honeymoon.
Su she: but who's the Phoenix empress?
Someone enters: me!
Meng shi: *peeping from a corner*
Sisi: wow.
Trio: *shocked*
Xue yang: JIGGY! WEN QING IS YOUR BUSINESS PARTNER AND EMPRESS OF PHOENIX SPIRITS!!!!
Yao: who else would it be, yangyang.
Mo xuanyu: woww. I'm jealous. I already have Su jiejie to deal with.
Xue yang: she got more hot.
Su she: behave.
Yao: empress Qing. Greetings.
Wen Qing *wearing red as always*: greetings to you, Yao Huangdi. *smile* how's your health? Sleeping well?
Yao: yes yes. And I tried the herbal tea you suggested.
Wen qing: great to hear that the hulijing emperor is well.
Xue yang: xuanyu. I think I'm dreaming.
Two hot people talking to each other.
Mo xuanyu: I'm not attracted to women, yangyang. Remember.
Xue yang: Shanshan, you're bi right? You had that crush on Qin Su?
You'll understand my bi heart.
Su she: yea. Empress Qin is very attractive. But I have to oppress my feelings, right. *blush* she's glamorous just like Huangdi.
Xue yang: exactly.
Wen qing: greetings Tai Hou. *bow*
Meng Shi: hello dear. Discard the formalities.
Wen qing: sure.
Meng Shi: A-Yao's friends are like his family.
A-Yao's Jing Manor is your Jing Manor. Feel right at home.
Wen qing: *smiling* thank you, taihou.
Meng Shi: you're very lovely.
Wen Qing: thanks a lot.
Yao: Wen Qing, I got some complimentary gifts for you.
It's our custom here to buy gifts for our guests and allies.
Attendants: *walking out with jewelry, incense burners, clothes and ornaments.
Wen qing: they're really beautiful. And you always have great tastes. I remember that Wen outfit of yours vividly.
Yao: *laughing* oh you remember that?! I also loved my Wen clothes.
Therfore I saved it with me.
Yao: the wen clothes and my other outfits are now relics in Jingjing, yet I can still access it.
It's weird when you're the emperor right, haha. Safe keepers would collect everything you use.
Wen qing: *laughing* weird life right.
Yao: indeed. But I like it.
Meng Shi: it's great that they honour their Huangdi.
Xue yang: Wen Qing. *smirk* remember me?
Wen Qing: obviously xue yang. The one who keeps getting on Wen Ruohan's nerves.
The biggest gremlin in Qishan.
Xue yang: all that introduction. I'm flattered.
Wen Qing, I think I'm sick. I ate too much candy. Can you, can you give me a check up? Please.
Wen qing: *pulls out needles* long or short?
Xue yang: don't scare me like that, wen qing.
Your needles and Jiggy's guqin strings and hensheng are the sexiest weapons.
Su she: ugh, don't listen to him. Ms Wen I thought that you were burnt due to guangshit's request.
Wen qing: hence I'm a phoenix spirit empress. The phoenix is known for being born from ashes.
And I have always loved fire.
Su she: that's marvelous.
Mo xuanyu: we're happy to have you here.
Xue yang: and I'm certainly happy to have you here. With Jiggy. You two are really gorgeous.
Wen qing: xue yang, do you have somewhere else to be?!
Xue yang: with you and Jiggy.
Yao: sorry about my team dimple, Ms Wen.
Wen qing: it's ok. And I know about xue yang's gremlin behavior.
Yao: good. He's quite the gremlin.
Xue yang: you two are rude. But I don't mind.
Yao: now tell me about your empire.
Wen qing: it have a population of 1.2 million phoenix spirits.
We use fire for cultivation and most of our fighting. We don't really fight anyone, as we're all physicians. My people and I decide to live in peace.
Yao: I commend you on that.
And us fox spirits know a lot about using fire as a weapon. It's called Kitsunabe.
Wen Qing: how interesting.
Yao: shall we continue the conversation over tea?
Wen qing: that would be lovely.
Yao: well then!
~~
Both: *having tea*
Wen qing: we're big healers now, and I love my job a lot.
Yao: hmm. Same here.
Being huangdi is great.
Wen qing: yea. You get to serve people, and learn about them. There's no war or oppression, but immortal peace.
Yao: right.
This Huyao empire is indeed peaceful.
Yes they were a few conspiracies but I protected my people at the end of the day.
Wen qing: you're very strong Yao Huangdi. Well you must be.
Working for that psychotic and vile Wen Ruohan would drive someone insane.
I have only stayed for a while because he gave A-Ning and I shelter.
Yao: but it's good that you went on your own, and made your own decisions. And as you said, Ruohan would send someone insane.
Wen qing: when I perform acupuncture for him, sometimes I wish I could have stuck him in his neck vein.
Yao: oh dear.
I'm glad everything is over.
Wen qing: same!
Wen qing: now how should we form bonds?
Yao: I'll give you 600 hulijing warriors for the protection of your phoenix empire.
Wen qing: I'm very grateful, Yao Huangdi. Thank you.
Yao: and your phoenix spirits can come here freely, without a pass.
I'll stamp it into action.
Wen qing: *smile*
And I'll gift you 600 physicians and 50 specialists in you and your empire's service.
Yao: thank you Wen Huanghou. I'm grateful.
Wen qing: my pleasure.
Those specialists are only for your family and closest allies by the way.
But the 600 are for the empire.
Yao: I see. How delightful.
Wen qing: Yao Huangdi you're truly an amazing host, and your tea is delicious.
Yao: I'm glad that I had met the standards of the phoenix spirit empress.
Wen qing: haha, I'm not that hard to please. But you're an amazing host.
Now how's Zixuan Huangdi?
Yao: he's alright, but still kinda weak.
Wen qing: mpreg isn't natural, so that's why he would feel weaker than a woman who has given birth.
I'll give him some pills and a concoction that will restore energy and help his qi.
Yao: marvelous. You're really talented.
Wen qing: thank you.
Yao: Ms Wen, what's your favourite flower?
Wen qing: uh. I love roses!
Yao: great. Roses will be planted in one of my gardens.
It's just that, I have four main gardens. Where one is used to plant respective flowers. For example, there are lotuses for Jiang, the mulberry for Nies, peonies for Jin, orchids for Lans, lilacs for Moling Su and so on.
Wen qing: that's so beautiful.
Well have some roses planted then!
Yao: as you say.
Rusong and Jingyi: *entering*
Yao: ah, here they are.
Ms Qing, these two are my pride and joy!
This Rusong, my eldest son. My flesh and blood!
Rusong: nice to meet you, phoenix empress. *bow*
Wen qing: hi Rusong Dianxia. Nice to meet you too.
And you resemble Yao huangdi a lot. Down to his dimples.
Rusong: thanks. I get that a lot.
Yao: and this is my adopted son, Jingyi of Gusulan. He's also the apple of my eye.
Jingyi: greetings.
You're Sizhui's aunt?!!!!!
Wen qing: yes I am. How is he?
Jingyi: he's cool. Lan at heart.
Wen qing: but Wen at birth.
He's excellent.
And what about my A-Ning?
Jingyi: the ghost general??
Wen qing: you don't need to call him that again. He's my little bro, A-Ning.
Jingyi: sorry. Wen Ning is still wei wuxian's bestie. And Wangxian's third wheel.
Wen qing: good. I must pay him a visit. You know I miss him a lot.
Yao: how about I escort you to the cloud recesses to see your brother. It would be a pleasure.
Wen qing: thank you, Yao Huangdi. And I know that you have some ties with the lans.
Yao: ties? *laughing*
Wen qing: I heard you when you said orchids for Lans.
Yao: oh waw, the empress has a great memory.
Wen qing: hmm. Just like the emperor.
Wen qing: tomorrow we'll bring the medicine for Xuan Huangdi, if you insist.
Yao: mn. The guest knows best.
Wen qing: what a nice slogan, customer service.
Yao: thank you, Ms Wen.
~
Later on, Qin Su joined A-Yao and Wen Qing.
Qin su: hello Yao huangdi. And Wen Qing! It has been a while! *hugs* how are you?
Wen qing: I'm great.
Your fabulous Huangdi and I had just became business partners.
Qin su: that's delightful!
Yao Huangdi is brilliant indeed.
Surely he'll preserve great bonds with your empire.
Wen qing: without a doubt.
Yao: A-Su. Have some tea and snacks. I insist.
Qin Su: of course.
Yao: have you met A-niang yet?
Qin Su: no. She was busy with the temple.
Yao: yes.
Wen qing: hmmm, I see a little sparrrkkk. Is Meng Furen restored again?
Yao and Qin Su: *blushing*
Meng Shi and Sisi: *spying in them*
Meng Shi: *to Sisi* oh goodness. Too much cuteness. I'm gonna faint.
Sisi: please don't faint, Huanghou jiejie. But then your future daughter-in-law might have to bring you back to health.
Meng Shi: that would be splendid.
Let's go before we get caught.
Yao: yes Ms Wen. We're planning on getting remarried.
Wen Qing: congratulations!
Qin Su: *blush*
Yao: keep it between us ok.
Qin su: the hulijings will start a rave beforehand, lol.
They have a party nature, and they're passionate about their Huangdi.
Wen Qing: waw you know so much.
Qin su: I'm half fox spirit so I know. And I'm married to my Huangdi!
....
Su she: *writing in his journal*
Xue yang: aren't they hot?
I'm so blessed to see supermodels everyday. Also I see a supermodel when I look in the mirror. Hehehehe.
Mo xuanyu: would Yao gege love me more than HER.
Xue yang: Wen Qing? Or Qin su?
Mo xuanyu: don't say HER name!
Xue yang: *laughing* which one dude! I'm confused.
Su she: relax. They're just business partners.
Mo xuanyu: and about Su jiejie?!! I'm ruined!!
Xue yang: drama much.
Mo xuanyu: shady much!
Mo xuanyu: *pouts* you know, I get jealous when Yao gege talks to anyone else who's not team D.
Xue yang: why jelly dude? Jiggy loves his team dimple. And I ship them three together.
Shanshan, how much do you rate her?
Su she: 5/10. While Qin Su is a 7.
I'm in love with Huangdi.
Xue yang: I'll give her like a 9.5. Jiggy is 1 trillion out of 10.
Mo xuanyu: she isn't pretty at all.
And I could do makeup better than her!
Shanshan, what are you writing in your journal?
Su she: you know I write about Huangdi and how *blush* how glorious he looks.
Mo xuanyu: awww. I do agree.
Xue yang: hella hot.
Su she: today his skin looked so radiant. Not that it doesn't always look radiant.
He just looks so cute and cuddly today.
Mo xuanyu: because he's our Yao gege!
Mo xuanyu: at least SHE is cooler than Lan lips.
Xue yang: yea Qin Su is 100% more awesome than Lan lips.
Su she: as if. When were Lans ever cool.

Restless Rewatch: The Untamed Episode 09 first part
(Masterpost) (More Canary Funsies)
Warning: Spoilers for All 50 Episodes!
Tumblr media
This episode features so many eternal minutes of zombie shambling that I thought I could fit everything into a single post. HA HA HA HA nope.
Zombie Temple
The trio do their best to fend off the not-zombies in the temple. Lan Wangji tells Wei Wuxian that he can’t go carving them up because they’re not actually dead, and drops a callback to their very first meeting at the gate of Cloud Recesses, when Wei Wuxian caught his attention with his pillowy lips comment on the not-dead cultivator.
Tumblr media
Lan Wangji: You said it in that golden moment that will be seared into my memory for eternity, where I heard your voice and laid eyes on your angelic face and lost my heart forever, remember? Come on, babe, it was our very first zombie! How baked were you?
Wei Wuxian: I jerk off to the sword-fighting memory, not the zombie memory, you weirdo.
Tumblr media
Nie Huaisang’s fear of the definitely not undead has apparently gotten him the rest of the way over his fear of Lan Wangji, because he’s now yelling “Lan-Xiong!” right along with “Wei-Xiong!” as he struggles. Note that although he later mentions that his fan is made of some fancy metal, we don’t see any evidence that he wants to fight with a fan any more than he does with a blade. I don’t hate anyone’s fan-fighting NHS headcanon, but my take is that he just isn’t a physical fighter, and that’s ok.
This is a good time to remember that our entire experience of the Nie clan so far in this story is 1. Clever but hopelessly combat-unready tiny artiste Nie Huaisang 2. Quietly helpful, absurdly pretty sidekick Meng Yao.
Tumblr media
We don’t know yet that Nie Huasang’s gege and Meng Yao’s sugar daddy is literally the toughest motherfucker in the entire cultivation world. But his friends do! Which makes me love these dynamics even more, because not one of them criticizes Nie Huaisang for being the person he is.
(more after the cut!)
Never Let Me Go
This scene is where Wei Wuxian gives his tacit consent to being used as the eventual agent of Nie Huaisang’s vengeance....ok not really.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But he does make it clear what Nie Huaisang should do when he’s in a pickle. And NHS doesn’t forget things.
Tumblr media
Priorities
Meanwhile, Lan Wangji isn’t nearly as patient as Wei Wuxian, and he drops a silence spell on Nie Huaisang basically out of annoyance. It’s not like they’re trying to be sneaky.
Tumblr media
Lan Wangji: How about you have an exquisitely crafted ceramic cup of shut the fuck up?
Flute Girl
Wen Qing comes to the rescue by summoning all of the not-zombies, who happen to be her extended family, to come toast some marshmallows.
Tumblr media
She’s another person who unwisely demonstrates, where Wei Wuxian can hear her, the power of flutes over zombies.
Tumblr media
This move doesn’t seem to do anything important but it looks cool.
Brother Dynamic: Bad. Really Bad.
Jiang Cheng shows up in the temple and trolls everyone, because this is a great time for childish antics. Wei Wuxian is super happy to see him and runs over to hug him, which earns him a shoulder slam.
Tumblr media
This is a regular part of their body language with each other. Wei Wuxian covers his hurt reaction very, very quickly, with a smile that doesn’t involve very much of his face.
Tumblr media
Ow
Tumblr media
Wei Wuxian is so good at pretending his feelings aren’t hurt, he probably convinces himself.
Then he gives a too-honest answer when Jiang Cheng accuses him of...daring to enjoy himself, basically.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That’s more truth than Jiang Cheng was looking for, and he raises a hand to Wei Wuxian, who hides behind Nie Huaisang. This move is interesting because on one level it’s just clowning; obviously Nie Huaisang can’t protect WWX from anything, and WWX doesn’t need protection from Jiang Cheng.
Tumblr media
WWX can easily beat JC in a fight, as he’s let us know before. On another level, this retreat signals WWX’s harmlessness, his childlike-ness, in a semiotic dance that has been playing out for over a decade between the brothers.  NHS is taking on Jiang Yanli’s role in the choreography, this time.
All of this troubling hostility doesn’t make Jiang Cheng a bad person. He’s young and he’s still under his parents’ control and subject to their abuse at home. It takes time to develop mindfulness about this stuff and learn to treat people beneath you differently than the way you are treated.
Tumblr media
Jiang Cheng isn’t ready for that yet, any more than he is ready to say out loud that he cares about his brother.
Leave My Boyfriend Out of It
This interaction is noteworthy for Wei Wuxian defending Lan Wangji to his brother, before Jiang Cheng even has a chance to blame Lan Wangji.
Tumblr media
Wei Wuxian says that following Lan Wangji was his own idea, and then gives LWJ the sweetest, warmest smile.
Tumblr media
Lan Wangji also gets a pair of totally unearned, delighted smiles of thanks from his two besties when he lifts the silence spell on Nie Huaisang.
Tumblr media
Being mildly dickish all the time works out fine, I guess, if you only make friends with people whose brothers are legendary grouches.
Grilling Wen Qing
Wei Wuxian finally decides he’s had enough of Wen Qing’s crap, and gets slightly aggressive in questioning her.
Tumblr media
He’s not actually roughing her up but he is approaching her as a near-enemy for the first time, rather than as someone who wants to be her friend. Once Wen Qing tells him what’s up and agrees to a sort of temporary alliance, he goes back to being his normal slightly awkward self with her.
Tumblr media
I don’t romance-ship WQ and WWX, except maybe as corpse-mountain era FWB, but I do like their chemistry. And their friendship is really refreshing and interesting, based on sharing goals and working together, not on emotional intimacy. It’s nice to see people with a lot of barriers around their hearts, building a strong, trusting bond without having to actually open up very much.
The idea of perfect sharing between people is a nice one, but it’s pretty alien to many of us who are recovering from trauma, or people who just aren’t wired that way, and it’s good to see other models of friendship and love.
Tumblr media
Wei Wuxian, at Lan Wangji’s direction, parts the Red Sea drops a cage on the other 3 cultivators before going to hunt the dire birdy.
Tumblr media
Jiang Chang is, predictably, pissed off about it, in spite of Wei Wuxian’s “you’re good at this” parting words, and says, according to the subtitles, “you bastard!”
“Bastard” is a pretty specific epithet, in English. In the current century, it’s generally used to mean “asshole,” more or less. But it still does carry the meaning “of illegitimate birth,” and since The Untamed is often concerned with legitimacy it seems pretty strong for JC to use with someone who is rumored to be his own Dad’s by-blow.
Tumblr media
Let’s have a look and see what he really is calling him... 你混蛋 =  Nǐ húndàn = “you bastard” per Google translate. Wow, Jiang Cheng, you really went there, huh.
Wen Granny
Wen Qing and the others in the golden cage watch as the not-zombies try half-heartedly to get to them. Wen Qing is super sad about it, as opposed to the two guys who are just annoyed (Jiang Cheng) or scared (Nie Huaisang).
Tumblr media
The first time I saw this, it was just - oh, Wen Qing sympathizes with this poor random woman, she feels bad about what's happening, this is to show us she has a heart.
Tumblr media
Now though --  that's HER granny. Maybe not her bio-grandma but clearly a granny of her clan, who she knows well, who later cares for A-Yuan when he's a child, so may very well have cared for A-Qing and A-Ning when they were small, too. Owie.
Dire Bird Hunting
Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian run off to hunt the smoke bird together. They are quickly trapped in cool-looking fog. Kudos to the Director of Photography.
Tumblr media
They spend some time being confused and also being peak Wangxian 1.0 as they help each other out.
Tumblr media
Lost in the fog and unable to summon talismans, Wei Wuxian is mainly about checking on Lan Wangji, making sure he’s ok, making sure he’s near.  He doesn’t spare any worry for himself.
Tumblr media
(We get a rare instance of seeing an actually glowing sword here, instead of just having a character say “I saw the beams of swords!” to save money on VFX.)
Lan Wangji, meanwhile, understands the mental attack they are under, explains it to Wei Wuxian with only a little snark about Wei Wuxian’s overly busy mind, and teaches him how to handle it.
Tumblr media
Lan Wangji is super disciplined in mind, body, and sword - his fight moves don’t change, really, throughout his life, but he gets better and better at execution. Wei Wuxian isn’t exactly undisciplined, but he’s super creative and busts out a new skill in nearly every encounter. Lan Wangji sees this and is learning to make use of it.
After Lan Wangji helps Wei Wuxian overcome the confusion that is blocking his talisman use, he tells him which talisman to use.
Tumblr media
This isn’t a talisman that LWJ uses himself, it’s just that he’s paying very close attention to WWX’s battle moves, and has a great memory, so he knows which ones will work. In a pretty short timespan he’s moved from thinking like a solo swordsman to thinking as part of a team with a broad range of battle skills. Very soon, he’ll be starting to use Wei Wuxian’s talismans himself.
Tumblr media
WWX takes a hit from the flying death chain, but uses it to his advantage, as in so many encounters. He’s not just self-sacrificing--he is definitely that--but he’s also a chess player, knowing how to use a sacrifice or an injury to his advantage. Cue Lan Wangji being worried for the entire rest of his life.
Part Two is here!

Season 8, Mission 4: Radio Ga Ga
Dark waters rising
SAM YAO: Uh, guys, can you see the radio tower yet? Storm's still interfering with my cams. I mean, uh, not that it's not nice that it's died down a bit.
PAULA COHEN: Yeah, sheltering in a cozy cottage eating biscuits and looking at a storm does feel less great when, on top of everything else, there's a homicidal maniac on the loose and every day lost to bad weather is a day less your friend has until nanites destroy her body.
SHONA: How long does she have now?
SAM YAO: Oh, 21 days, I guess.
PAULA COHEN: Maybe a little more if she rests.
SHONA: The chief has the whole island on alert for Jones. Wherever he's hiding, he'll have to come out sometime, and when he does, we will find him. For you and for us.
TOM DE LUCA: Visual on a pylon two clicks away.
PAULA COHEN: It's perched on a flat-topped rock jutting out of the sea. Looks like the potato mountain from Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
SHONA: [laughs] Close encounters of the what?
PAULA COHEN: Oh Shona, don't make me feel old.
SAM YAO: Right. Well, we can use the radio tower to get a signal to Abel.
SHONA: We've got a guy, Gavin. Stays out here to maintain it. It's cut off from Mor Island from the sea except for twice a month when the water is low. See that land bridge? It'll only be here for an hour.
PAULA COHEN: Well, we'll be able to let Peter talk to Janine. I can't wait to speak to Maxie. To everyone, really. I said we'd be home in a week.
TOM DE LUCA: We will be home soon. Jones can't have left Mor Island. The chief took his boat. And there aren't any others on the island that would have had a chance of making it through the storm. We'll find him, and the cure for Janine.
SAM YAO: The locals have set me up in the old post office. I can see a bunch of them on the village green, organizing into search parties.
SHONA: Folk on Mor Island don't forgive and they never forget.
SAM YAO: All right, everyone. You're going to run across the land bridge, access the control hut, tune into Abel's frequency, and get back before the tide comes in. Now the last thing we want is for you to get cut off by the rising water.
TOM DE LUCA: Stay focused and run!
[waves crash]
SHONA: Watch your step. It's blowing a hooley. If you slip, the waves will bash you against the cliffs and the barnacles will rip you to shreds.
SAM YAO: Yeah, probably best not to dwell on that.
PAULA COHEN: That's the control shack up ahead, at the bottom of the cliff?
SAM YAO: Yeah. You can set up comms from there. You're halfway across the land bridge now, so just keep going.
SHONA: Gavin'll help. We tried to radio ahead to say we're coming, but the storm mucked up our signal.
PAULA COHEN: What are those metal spikes sticking out of the sea?
SHONA: Oh, there used to be an actual bridge to the island, but it disintegrated. Those are what's left of the struts. Last May, a sheep got stranded on the rock. It panicked, ran off, and well... [laughs]
TOM DE LUCA: Lamb kebabs. Okay. We can see our target? Everyone run!
[rain pours]
PAULA COHEN: Made it over the land bridge. There's the – [shouts]
TOM DE LUCA: Paula!
PAULA COHEN: I'm fine! Fine. Slipped on some seaweed. It's thick here.
SHONA: Aye. This bit's under the sea most of the time. The control hut's over there, above the high water level.
TOM DE LUCA: I hope we can establish a connection. I promised Janine I'd get a message to Peter.
PAULA COHEN: It's so funny. I've been putting this to the back of my mind all day, but now we're close, I've got butterflies. Oh, I hope Sara's okay.
SAM YAO: Maxine'll have everything under control. But I know what you mean.
TOM DE LUCA: Approaching the control hut. It's in poor condition.
SAM YAO: Can you get inside?
[chains clink]
TOM DE LUCA: Door's chained shut.
PAULA COHEN: Looking in the window. Oh, someone's deliberately smashed the equipment.
SHONA: Jones! Has to be. And there's no sign of Gavin.
TOM DE LUCA: The equipment might be salvageable. Stand back. Five, kick the door in!
[Runner Five kicks door down, zombie growls, SHONA screams]
PAULA COHEN: Zombie! Get back, everyone.
SHONA: Oh God, Gavin!
TOM DE LUCA: We have no cure! We can transmit to Abel from the pylon's primary controls. Up the path, now!
PAULA COHEN: Oh, we're at the top of the path, Sam. Oh, fantastic view from up here! You can see the whole archipelago.
SHONA: Aye. Look at that. Shining beauty of the Far Hebrides. There's Dearg Island where the scientists live, and wee [?] Isle. There's [?] Island. We don't go there anymore. It's full of zombies. Look, there's [?] with the cairn of stones. [?], [?].
SAM YAO: Okay, sorry to break up the sightseeing, but the zom's gaining. You can McShell it over.
SHONA: Oh, aye. You told me about that. Herding zombies.
TOM DE LUCA: You've got the idea. Shona, you and Five break right, Paula and I will go left. On my signal, break!
SAM YAO: Great job, guys! The zom's going, going... and it stopped, teetering on the edge of the cliff.
TOM DE LUCA: Five, kick it!
[zombie falls]
SAM YAO: Oh, wow. It's impaled on one of the rusty bridge struts. I hesitate to say nice shot, Five, but uh...
SHONA: Is Gavin still alive?
SAM YAO: Uh, well... no. That's sort of the thing about zombies, really.
SHONA: I mean, is he still moving?
PAULA COHEN: Yes, but uh, it's stuck there.
TOM DE LUCA: We've lost a lot of time. The water's rising on the causeway.
SAM YAO: Get to the radio tower on the summit. You should be able to patch in to Abel from there.
PAULA COHEN: Shona, are you all right?
SHONA: I don't know. That was Gavin. He didn't say much, but he was really kind. He used to carry me on his shoulders when I was a kid.
PAULA COHEN: I'm so sorry.
SHONA: It was just... the way he looked. Weak, rotting. Pathetic.
PAULA COHEN: We've been there, Shona. It never gets easy. The tide's going to turn soon. We have to move.
[rain pours, door creaks shut]
SHONA: We're inside the pylon, Sam.
PAULA COHEN: I've got it. The equipment's old, but workable. Just a sec.
[radio static]
SAM YAO: Hello, Abel. Come in, Abel.
MAXINE MYERS: Sam? Is that you?
PAULA COHEN: Maxie! Can you hear me?
MAXINE MYERS: Paula! Thank God! I knew you were all right, but oh, it's so good to hear your voice.
PAULA COHEN: Are you okay? How's Sara?
MAXINE MYERS: I'm fine. Sara's, uh -
SAM YAO: Sara's what, Maxie?
MAXINE MYERS: No, I'm sorry. No, she's okay. She's asking for you both. She wakes me up in the night asking for you.
TOM DE LUCA: Dr. Myers?
MAXINE MYERS: Tom! How's Janine? And are you okay?
TOM DE LUCA: I'm fine. Janine, not so good. But stable for the moment. Is Peter there? I promised Janine I'd pass him a message.
MAXINE MYERS: Peter's um... indisposed. Nothing serious! Well, not for him, anyway. Most people would need more than a nap after disemboweling themselves. Oh, and I have an urgent message to play you.
[static]
SAM YAO: Hello? Maxine? Uh, the transmission's gone.
TOM DE LUCA: The cable's come loose in the gale. It's hanging off the rock outside.
SAM YAO: Yeah, that'd do it. Five, run down there, grab the cable, and plug it in.
[rain pours, cable clicks]
SAM YAO: Great job, Five. That's the cable back in place, and... yeah, we've got a signal. And if you fasten it with clips, it won't come undone again. [clips click] Great work. Now run back around. I'll keep you patched in.
MAXINE MYERS: What happened? Is everything okay?
SAM YAO: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I've secured the connection.
MAXINE MYERS: Oh, that's great. Now promise to send my love to Jody and Ellie.
SAM YAO: [sighs] Yeah. Maxie, a lot's happened since we arrived. I'll fill you in, but the others have to go.
MAXINE MYERS: Um, oh. Okay. Um, wait! I have a message from the Prime Minister. Your ears only.
SAM YAO: From, from Amelia? I mean, we're running out of time, here.
MAXINE MYERS: She said it was extremely urgent.
AMELIA SPENS: Hello, Janine and friends. I do hope you're enjoying your little island jaunt. You'll be pleased to know that the red fungus zombie problem is well under control. Some threads of fungus were found on a beach. We destroyed them. I'd love to tell you how, uh, because it was a rather brilliant idea of mine, but it's a government secret. You understand.
Anyway, I've got a highly important assignment for you. Could you send me some crates of smoked salmon? The stuff on the mainland isn't the same. Thanks!
MAXINE MYERS: Okay... well, I swear I had no idea that that was the "urgent message". I can't believe we wasted our comms time with that. Paula? I love you. Everyone else? I love you, too.
PAULA COHEN: Five? You keep going as you are. We'll see you back at the land bridge. Run.
[rain pours]
PAULA COHEN: Five, over here! Sam, Five's rejoined us. We're at the foot of the cliff by the radio shack and the tide's coming in fast.
TOM DE LUCA: Look. Foot of the cliff. Two zoms pulling themselves out of the sea.
PAULA COHEN: It's okay. We'll be gone before they get here.
TOM DE LUCA: They're not coming for us. They're going for the radio shack. Oh, of course! I should have recognized it when I saw it. Wait here!
PAULA COHEN: Tom? What are you – nope. No, he's off.
SAM YAO: What is he doing?
SHONA: He's run back over to the radio shack.
SAM YAO: Yeah, but why?
TOM DE LUCA: I found it!
SHONA: What's he waggling in the air?
TOM DE LUCA: I saw it before in the wreckage but didn't register it. It's a zombie-attracting device like the one Jones planted at Abel!
PAULA COHEN: I think you're right. Those zoms are heading towards us now. Quick, Tom, stamp on it!
[device breaks]
TOM DE LUCA: That's disabled it! I'll take the parts back to examine later.
SHONA: Are you saying Lachlan planted something here to deliberately attract zoms? He got Gavin bitten on purpose?
SAM YAO: That's what it looks like.
TOM DE LUCA: Those zoms are still heading our way and the tide's coming in. We need to head back now.
SAM YAO: I'll tell Janine to get the local leaders together for a council of war. If Jones has one zombie attractor, he could have two. Or dozens. Whatever his plan here is, it looks like it involves killing a lot of innocent people.

1+2p Hetalia High {Ch.6}
(Kat)
No longer questioning it.
I’m just the blogger reviewing it.
{Kat}'s POV
It was the dreaded day. Monday, the most hated day ever. I had finished my homework when I got home yesterday. Today for school I wore a F/A t-shirt,
Is that favorite animal?
Okay, I guess I’m wearing a walrus shirt.
a {Purple} skirt, and sneakers. I drove to school this time because I still was worried about the 2p!s. I parked in the school parking lot and walked into the front entrance. There were posters everywhere. I looked at one of them and saw that it was advertising for the upcoming dance.
Tumblr media
The clichés are getting to me.
I always went to the dances alone but that was alright. I usually danced like a dork and ate too much of the buffet table.
Pretty much.
Best time ever. I couldn't look at the poster long. I had something to do before everyone got to school. I walked to my first classroom. The teacher wasn't there yet. Perfect. I took two things out of backpack. The first was a bouquet of sunflowers. The second was the most adorable Hello Kitty plushie you have ever seen. I places the sunflowers on Ivan's desk and the plushie on Yao's desk.
Tumblr media
I set up my phone in the back so I could get the reaction. I quickly left the room. I waited next to the classroom. Eventually students started coming in. Yao and Ivan walked in at about the same time. I followed them in. Ivan picked up the bouquet "Who put this on my desk?" Ivan asked. Some of the students got scared. I guess I couldn't hide my guiltiness very well because Ivan walked up to me. "You put this on my desk da?" Ivan asked. Yao stood next to him. "Did you put this plushie on my desk aru!?" Yao asked. "Yes I did put those things on your desks."
Tumblr media
I said nervously. This wasn't going how I had planned. Suddenly Ivan hugged me. "Thank you da. These are my favorite kind of flowers." Ivan said smiling. "Where did you get this plushie!? It's so cute aru! I need more of these!" Yao said pointing at the adorable plushie. I smiled. "No problem Ivan! And my Aunt makes them Yao." I said. The rest of the time before class was spent talking about the things I had given to them.
OKAY, THAT’S NICE BUT WHY?
Eventually the bell rang and we all had to get to our seats. I noticed that Matthew blushed and snuck looks at me when he thought I wasn't looking.
Why is everyone in love with me?
I’m literally nobody important.
I wasn't sure what was up with him but I had a feeling. I also noticed that Alfred looked down.
Tumblr media
I knew it wasn't normal. I wrote a note and threw it at him. "Alfie what's wrong?" he took the paper and read it. He wrote something and threw the paper back at me. "Nothing {Kat} the hero is fine!" he wrote with little a drawing of superman. I giggled.
As cute as that is, it randomly switched to your point of view in the last chapter, so I know you are in love with me.
Like everyone else in this fanfiction.
I knew something was wrong but I also knew he wouldn't tell me. Eventually class ended and I packed up my stuff. I head to my next class. I walked into art and went to my easel. "Okay class. Pick a partner and sketch them." Mr. Percy said. Lovino and Feliciano came up to me at the same time. "Do you want to be my partner?" they asked in unison.
I’m so close to hurling myself off a bridge.
They looked at each other then looked back at me. Lovino looked a little down. I knew he was thinking that I would choose Feliciano. I've seen the episode where he stated it perfectly that he felt in his brother's shadow. "Sure! I'd love to be your partner Lovino." I said smiling. Feliciano looked a little sad.
Tumblr media
By the time this chapter is over, I will have run out of screaming gifs.
While Lovino had a heart in his curl and a blush on his face. We walked over to our easels. I started sketching Lovino. This would be easy since I always drew Hetalia characters. I drew him throwing tomatoes.
Why?
The teacher said time was up and to show our partners our drawings. I handed mine to Lovino as he handed his to me. He handed me a near perfect drawing of me. "Lovino it's amazing!" I said. Lovino blushed and turned away. "Psh. I know it is! I don't need you to tell me that!" he said. Lovino looked at my drawing. "It's pretty good for a ragazza (girl) like you."
Screw you.
Lovino said. I knew that was how he said it was good. "Thanks Lovi! I mean Lovino." I said. Lovino looked somewhere else and said "Y-You can call me Lovi if you want."
But you hate that. It reminds you of Spain.
he said his blush deepening. Oh my god did he just say what I thought he said? The teacher made us hand in our work when the bell rang.
(Timeskip to lunch)
You can’t just build chemistry with everyone.
It isn’t good for the story.
I decided to find Alfred before he sat down anywhere. I found him standing next to the vending machine. "Hey Alfred. I was wondering if you wanted to go to the park with me after school?" I asked him. Alfred blushed "R-Really dude?" he asked. I nodded and he smiled. "S-Sure! I-I'll see you there!"
Yes. I pick the fave.
he said walking away smiling. Well that seemed to cheer him up. Suddenly I was picked up by someone. I turned to see Ivan. "Hey Ivan. Why are you holding me?"
Tumblr media
I asked. "I'm holding you because you're going to sit with me."
Then why didn’t you just ask me?
he said carrying me somewhere. Meh I'm down with this. I let him carry me to a table where I saw two familiar people. Oh shit. Sitting at the table was Belarus and Ukraine. "This is my big sister Irunya and my little sister Natalya." he said letting me go. I could feel Natalya staring daggers at me.
Hi Bela.
How are you today?
"Hello Irunya and Natalya! I'm {Kat}." I said smiling. Irunya greeted me cheerfully while Natalya growled. "Natalya you are so pretty! I love the bow in your hair." I said honestly. Natalya's eyes softened a little. "Thank you." she said curtly.
I’m so so done.
I sat next to her and Ivan. I talked to Natalya most of the time. I certainly didn't want to be on her bad side. Irunya also talked to me about how Ivan talked about me. That got some blushes from Ivan and some grunts from Natalya. Eventually lunch ended and I had to leave. Science was spent with Alfred mixing chemicals he wasn't supposed to.
I hope I didn’t give myself burns.
Let's just say he won't be doing that again.
Good plan.
The bell rang signaling that school was over. I drove to the park that was about a block away from the school.
Why didn’t I walk?
That would make the most sense.
I waited for about 15 minutes for Alfred. 'Is he not coming?' I thought to myself. Just as I thought that, Alfred walked towards me. "Sorry i'm late dude! I was getting these for you." he said handing me flowers. "Oh these are so pretty! Thank you Alfie!" I said smiling. Alfred blushed and smiled.
Thanks. I like flowers.
"That's the hero's job after all!" he said. We walked through the park and talked about random things. Which video games we liked, what our favorite action movies were. "I like a lot of the marvel movies actually."
That’s actually 100% true.
I said. Alfred smiled widely. "Really dude!? I love those movies!" he said. "My favorite's captain America!"
Mine too.
he said posing in a hero pose. I laughed.
I could pick many screenshots from My Hero Academia to poke fun at this vague hero pose.
This:
Tumblr media
This:
Tumblr media
Or possibly this:
Tumblr media
I like to imagine the first one.
"Well looks like you're one heck of a hero Alfie!"
Tumblr media
Oh yes.
I said. Alfred laughed with me. We walked near a pond. "Aww look. There are ducklings!" I said looking at the water. There were two ducklings following the momma duck. The momma duck suddenly went frantic. "What's wrong with her?" Alfred asked. "I think she lost one of her babies." I said.
Oh no!
Alfred and I looked for the baby. Then we heard laughing coming from the other side of the pond. "Stupid bird! It bit me!" an angry voice said. Alfred and I ran over there. Two guys were holding a duckling and being mean to it.
Tumblr media
"You two! Stop that right now!" Alfred said. "What are you gonna do about it?" one the boys threatened. Alfred punched the guy in the face knocking him out cold. The other guy dropped the baby and ran. Alfred picked it up and put it back in the water next to it's mom. The mom quacked at Alfred as if to say thanks. Alfred laughed and said "You're welcome duck dude."
I guess Al is a Disney Princess now.
Headcanon accepted.
while they swam away. I hugged Alfred "Alfie that was amazing! You were so awesome!" I said. Alfred blushed deeply. "All in a days work!" he said. Eventually it got late and we both had to go.
Wow, way to skip the rest. I actually wanted to know what happened next.
I waved good bye to Alfred and left in my car.
Alfred's POV
Tumblr media
Did I mention I hate point of view changes like this?
Because I hate point of view changes like this.
A lot.
She asked me out! I pumped my fist. She hugged me and called me a hero! I know a hero should never be nervous but my tongue goes into knots when she's with me. My palms get sweaty and my heart races. I don't why but I every time I think about her I get really happy. She makes me really happy.
I love you too, favorite boi.
Okay, that appears to be it.
I still have no idea what that gift thing in the beginning was about. See you guys later!

Season 2 Mission 13: SOS
The following morning had found them surprising warmer than previous days.  The sun was actually shining down on Abel warming up the cold bones of the residents.  Charlotte had enjoyed a private meal with Sam the night before to celebrate her birthday including a cookie with HB written in some probably old icing.  It was a sweet gesture that made Charlotte fall for Sam even more.  He was always doing little things for her just to show how much he loved her.
Currently  Charlotte, Simon and Jody were just outside the Abel walls cutting down some trees for fire wood.  Jody was up in the tree breaking off the smaller branches and dropping them down to Simon who would take any leaves off.  When Jody was done with a branch Charlotte would break the larger branch and cut it to more managable pieces.
"You alright up there, Jody?"  Simon asked looking up at her.
"Good haul on this one."  She said as she climbed onto it slowly.
"Sorry, guys.  Sorry to interrupt your pastoral interlude.  Runner Five, I need yo to make your way westwardds, quick as you can."  Sam came over the coms as Charlotte looked up taking her axe out of the tree.
"What's going on?"  Charlotte asked panting softly.
"We're not just having fun here, you know."  Simon reminded.  "Not playing hide and seek in the trees.  Well, not much.  Definitely not anymore.  We're cutting down wood.  You know, to burn?  For heat and light?"
"We wouldn't ask if it weren't important.  Runner Five, get moving.  Towrads the coast.  We've had a disturbing transmission."  Janine chimed in.
"Oh, you can't just say that.  Makes it sound all sinister."  Sam said softly.
"Anyway, if it's something sinister, we're coming too.  Right, Jody?"  Simon said looking up into the tree.
"I love sinister!  The sinister-er, the merrier.  Unless it gets too sinister."  Jody said as she jumpped down.  "The sinister-er the merrier, up to a point!"  She said wiping her hands on her pants.
"Fine.  fine, that's probably a good idea, actually.  We've had a mayday call from a small cruise liner that's run aground, and the end of the message is... well..."  Janine said slowly as the three of them took off towards the coast.
"I'm just going to play it to you.  Saves time."  Sam said.
"Mr. Yao, I'm not sure that that's-"  Janine started before a click was heard then a couple beeps before a deep voice is heard.
"Message repeats.  Mayday, Mayday.  I am the Captain of the Vessel Aurora, Late of the Capertown Line.  Until the end of the world, atleast.  We're beat here off the flats, hull below the waterline.  Fifteen souls aboard. Living souls, that is.  We're trapped in the bridge.  Saloon deck full of the living dead.  We're carrying supplies - cargo hold's full of food, electrical equipment, tools, fuel.  Mayday, mayday.  Calling on local known townships to assist.  New Canton, Abel Township, Red Settlement-"  The man said.
"His intel's out of date."  Sam breathed softly.
"And I'm told to ask for Janine.  Or for Runner Five, Charlotte DeLoius, at Abel Township, lately arrived by helicopter, shot down by rocket laucher.  Runner Five, Charlotte DeLoius of Abel Township."  The man continued making Charlotte blink looking at Jody and Simon who shared her surprised expression.
"Not that out of date apparently."  Charlotte said feeling her stomach tightening.
"We need to find out what's going on.  I hope you all are running."  Janine said as the message began to repeat.
Charlotte, Jody, and Simon booked it quickly towards the coast line not finding many zombies along the way.  "Can you see it yet?  Headcam transmission's a bit fuzzy this far out."  Sam asked as they continue to run.
"Just coming around the headland now, Sam."  Jody said as they stopped when they saw the gigantic boat.  "Wow, it's big!  Like a huge beached whale lying half up against the cliffs."  Jody said as Charlotte scanned the outside of the ship.  The black hull on the bottom half looked banged up a bit but there was some torn up hull in the water along the left side.  It was sitting parrallel to the shore line with the very tip of the ship not far from the top of the cliff.
"I never realized they were that big out of water."  Charlotte said slowly.
"It looks sort of sad."  Jody said.
"Anthropomorphism, presumably because you know it's crawling with the living dead.  Runners, there's a ship there, atleast, so it's not a lie, but we have no idea why someone on that vessel is calling for Runner Five by name."  Janine stressed.
"Could be a trick of Van Ark's.  I know he's an equal opportunity hater, but I imagine that Charlotte's raid on his lab complex puts you right in the firing line."  Simon suggested.
"Indeed.  Or it could just be that the news of a helicopter brought down by a rocket launcher has travelled, and they hope to make a personal connection to someone who might help them."  Janine suggested as well.
"Yeah, so, what we're saying is be careful, guys.  Be super, super, extra specially careful, making sure to pay attention to any potential traps."  Sam said.
The three of them ran towards the top of the cliff where they found that the tip was still short of the cliff.  "Runner Three, I presume you have the ropes from your expedition to the woodland?"  Janine questioned.
"Dib dib dob.  Always prepared, Jenny."  Simon said pulling out some rope from his bag.
"Yes, I know.  Working on the proposition that the distress call might be genuine and valuable supplies might be lost-" Janine started.
"And people!"  Sam stressed.
"Yes, yes, and people might be lost when the tide comes in and the ship goes down, I suggest using your ropes to board, and head to the right, towards the bridge."  Janine said as Simon tied one end of the rope to the tree before he jumps across to the ship and tied the other rope to the ship.  They looped the rope several times around the tree to form a bridge to the cliff.
"And if you see anything remotely, well, you know - suspicious, get out of there, okay?  I mean, like-"  Sam started before Jody cut in.
"You mean, if we see anyone trying to shoot us, bite us, or kidnap us and turn us into hideous frozen half-zombies test subjects?"  She suggested.
"Yeah, well, you know what to do."  Sam said softly.
"Run."  Charlotte said as they came arcross the rope bridge to the ship.
"Yeah, that."  Sam said softly.
"Okay, there you go, Charlotte."  Simon said helpping them onto the ship.  "We're all on deck now.  Quick run around the whole perimeter, guys?  See what's what?"
They took off down the deck looking around.  The deck was bare of chairs and other objects that would normally be on a cruise ship.  "Feels creepy, doesn't it?  Jody spoke up suddenly.  "All still and quiet, and the mist on the sea, like the ship might've been here for a thousand years..."  She trailed off as if she was telling a ghost story.
"I think you'll find it feels creepy because of the faint moaning of the undead from belowdecks, love."  Simon said chuckling.
"Yeah, that too.  It's weird."  Jod said as they continued to run around the ship.  "Can't see anyone around - not humans, not zombies."
"I just noticed something.  It's all really orderly, isn't it?"  Charlotte suggests.  "For a cruise ship.  Like, all these neatly painted signs with numbers and letters.  No deck chairs, no beach balls.  Looks more, sort of, regimented?"
"Keep your eyes open.  We don't know what's happened here.  Runners, head towards the rear of the ship."  They change directions heading towards the rear.  "Yes, the way you're going.  If I'm reading these plans correctly, you should pass the door to- fo'cis'le.  'Foke-sell'? 'Foke-sail'?"  Janine tries several times.
"Those aren't even the plans of this ship, Janine."  Sam said quickly.
"Yes, yes, but it's a similar type of vessel.  Runners, head for the large door on your right.  If you pull them open, you should find a staircase up to the bridge."  Janine explained.
"You're not sure, though."  Sam asked.
"Remember what the Major says.  'In war, no plan survives contact with the enemy, Mr. Yao."  Janine said quickly.
"But this isn't a-"  Sam started before sighing heavily.  "No, just be careful, okay, guys?"
"We will!  We are!"  Jody said quickly.  "Always careful, aren't we, Char?  Okay, we're getting to the doors now."  They stop in front of the large door.  "Just lifting up the bolt, and-"  Jody said as she lifted the bolt opening it as they staired down at a staircase going down into what amounted to a pit full of zombies.
"Close the door!"  Charlotte said fast as she all three pushed the door closed but the zombies were trying to push it open.
"Ah.  Jenny, um, you know I don't like to critize, but um, that wasn't exactly the stairway up to the bridge.  More a sort of-"  Simon started.
"-holding area full of the living dead?"  Charlotte suggested as she pushed her shoulder into the door while Simon pushed at the door above the bolt and Jody kept trying to put the bolt back.
"Well put.  Come on, back the way we came.  On the count of 3."  Simon said.  Both girls nodded.  "1... 2..."  Simon counted slowly.  "3!"  He shouted as the three of them ran from the door just as the zombies bursted through heading for them.
"Okay, so, situation report."  Sam sighed heavily after a while.  "We still haven't located the bridge, where we think there might be some survivors.  That's not good.  And there are forty or fifty shambling zombies following you.  That's really not good!  And they've cut you off from the rope ladder you used to get onto the ship.  That's..."  Sam chuckled dryly.  "I'm going to have to say, extra specially not good!  Anyone got any good news for me."
"Doesn't seem like this is a trap laid by van Ark?"  Charlotte said fast.  "Unless his big plan for us is getting us killed by zombies, which is sort of an occupational hazard anyway."
"Well, if we keep circling around with the zoms chasing us, we should come back to the rope ladder, yeah?"  Simon asked.
"I think I've definitely located the entrance to the bridge now, Mr. Yao."  Janine stated.
"Oh, okay.  Better than I thought, then.  And those aren't fast zombies, just the regular medium-slow ones, and no matter how regimented and un-cruise liner-y this ship looks, the zoms all look like holiday-makers, to be honest."  Sam said quickly.  "Sunglasses, I think there's on wearing the remains of a water ring on what used to be it's waist, or maybe it's thigh."  He laughs suddenly.  "That guy really should have rethought those Bermuda shorts!  Even without being undead-"
"Mr. Yao!"  Janine snaps.
"Yeah, yeah, I don't.  don't speak ill of the dead. But seriously, those shorts!"  Sam said chuckling.
"Mr. Yao!  That repeating transmission - it's changed."  Janine said as the Captain's voice returned.
"Help us.  You have to help us!  We can see you.  Three runners.  Are you from Abel Township?  There are only five of us left alive now.  One got bitten and didn't tell the others, and... Oh God, they're all around the bridge.  They're banging on the door.  There's nowhere left to run.  Please help us.  Please!  You see that side door?  To the upper deck, that you're coming to?  If you could just draw a few of them off, we could - we could - please!  Two of the people left alive are children."  The captain begged.
"Door on the left, then?"  Sam suggested.
"Sounds like it's full of zoms."  Charlotte stated.
"Well, when I get it open, be prepared to run faster."  Jody said quickly.
"Come on Char.  Make as much noise as you can and Run!"  simon said as Jody pulled open the door.  Simon started to shout while Charlotte whistled loudly drawing the zombies out of the room continuing to run.
Charlotte looked back seeing the now doubled group of zombies following after them.  "This way!"  She shouted.
"We're running out of ship!  Can't jump into the water, we're on a beach.  Can't jump down at all, we're about a hundred feet above the rocks.  We're oing to die!"  Jody cries out.
"Zoms to the left of us, zoms to the right of us..."  Simon laments.
"Yeah, don't finish that sentence."  Sam said quickly.
"Well, the zoms we let out earlier have met up with the zoms we just let out!"  Simon called.  "Sam, Jody's right.  We're running out of ship.  Any bright ideas?"
"Uh, there are those lifeboats hanging over the deck."  Sam suggested.
"Those are hardly going to be any use, even if they could get to them, Mr. Yao.  As Runner four pointed out, they're on dry land, at least until the tide comes in."  Janine scolded.
"No, but if they could like, release them?  Drop them on the deck, in the zoms way, block their approach - "  Sam suggested again.
"It's too late Sam."  Charlotte said.  "We passed the release lever about thirty meters ago.  It's swarming with zoms, now."
Jody turns and screams as she points towards the stairs leading to the lower decks.  "They're coming cup from belowdeck!  Look, at the stairs!"
Charlotte stopped as Jody and Simon backed up towards the railing of the ship stairing at the large group of zombies.  Charlotte started having deja vu from the school feeling death was ready to take them.
"Sam... We're... We're going to die."  Simon said softly as Jody cowered behind Charlotte and Simon.
Charlotte pulled out her axe ready to fight off as many as she could.  Suddenly the sound of chains rattling above them as all of the life boats suddenly rushed down on top of the zombies smashing not only them but going right through the floor of the deck.  Any zombies that were on the edge fell in as well.  Charlotte reached back with her free hand and grabbed the railing pinning Jody to the rail as the floor broke several times as Simon grabbed the railing as well incase the floor continued to break.
"Holy- you did it!  You dropped the lifeboats!  Broke straight through the upper deck, squashed the zoms!  Well done guys!"  Sam cheered.
"We... we didn't do it."  Charlotte breathed.
"We passed the lever thirty meters back, we said!"  Jody said quickly.
"Then who-"  Sam started before Janine jumpped in.
"Who's that figure on the upper deck?  On the roof.  I didn't see  her there before."  Janine said as the three of them looked towards the stairs as footsteps appeared.
Slowly disending the stairs still dressed in her green shirt and jeans, was Sara Smith.  Runner Eight.  Her trade mark smirk still on her face.  "Simon, Charlotte, Jody - nice to see you all again."  She said as Charlotte's jaw dropped see her thought to be dead friend alive and well.
