One Piece Theories: Blackbeard Giving Shanks His Scars
- Blackbeard Theories, Part 2
The scar in question, looks like three scratch marks swiped across Shank’s left eye.
Establishing a Timeline / The First Meeting
The timeline has confirmed that the two first met during the fight between the Roger and Whitebeard pirates in 1498. At the time, Shanks was 12/13 and Teach was 13/14. As seen in the picture below (Ch. 966), Shanks was envious of Teach’s apparent inability to sleep. However, it was never shown that they ever fought each other during this time.
Shanks later tells Whitebeard that Teach gave him scar. We know from the flashback at Roger’s execution that he had yet to receive the scar. However, he already had it when he met Luffy. Therefore, he obtained his scar somewhere between when Roger got executed (in 1500, when he was 15) and the first time he met Luffy (in 1512, when he was 26/27). So, there is roughly a 12-year range where that could have occurred.
Shanks Opinions
What is interesting, is Shanks’ opinion of Teach himself. The Red-Haired Pirate is someone shrouded in his own sense of secrecy. Oda created a character that is essential to the story, has existed since the very beginning, and yet we know basically nothing about. What we do know, is that Shanks appears to be a good judge of character, similar to Luffy in that sense. So, his opinions of people should have some weight. When he visits Whitebeard, in Episode 316, he says,
“The one who gave me this, was one of yours… Blackbeard, Teach! It’s not like I was being careless. Do you know what I mean? Whitebeard.”
- Shanks
Another one of the small tidbits we know regarding Shanks, is that he is strong. Sure, we aren’t exactly sure how strong – because, as I said, Oda likes to keep him shrouded in mystery – but considering the amount of respect he receives and his title as one of the 4 Yonko, we know he’s a powerful opponent. So, hearing him say this can be a bit disconcerting. Now, I mentioned before that there is a 12-year gap between 1500 and 1512 when this fight could have occurred. I bring this up because when this happened is very important in sizing up Teach’s power. It is safe to say that beating Shanks at 15 would be much easier than beating him when he is 26. I say this, so you will keep in mind that Shank’s statement above isn’t necessarily an indication of Teach’s power, nor was it necessarily supposed to be. What it is, is a warning of Teach’s character. A warning given a mere 9 episodes before Teach’s confrontation with Ace where details regarding his past actions are explored and basically confirms all of Shanks’ conjecture. Shanks continues,
“He was quietly waiting for a chance. He didn’t take the title of commander to be renowned. But to conceal himself. Up until now he remained hidden under the shadow of the name “Whitebeard”. And in order to gain power, he made his move. In the end, he aims to get to the top, with his own will. He might even come to steal your title.”
- Shanks
He's saying that Teach stayed below the radar on purpose. He continues by implying that this is due to wanting whatever notoriety that would eventually become attached to Teach’s name to be a result of his own doing (or “own will”), and not because of being associated with Whitebeard. Shanks also correctly assumed that all of Teach’s moves had been in order to gain power.
The Reason
This leads to the question: Why did he attack Shanks?
For starters, I think it’s safe to say that Teach doesn’t make a move that hasn’t been thought through and calculated. That has been proven a hundred times over. If it’s true, as I suspect, that Teach will only make a move if he believes that it will afford him more power, then what led to this confrontation with Shanks? What did Teach believe he would gain from beating Shanks?
Moreover, I think it’s interesting that Shanks never thought to mention this to Whitebeard until now or that Teach hadn’t. I guess you could argue that Shanks saw no reason to until it became clear that Teach was not only capable of this type of betrayal but was starting to make moves. You could also argue that Teach hadn’t said anything because he didn’t want to arouse suspicion. However, something still doesn’t feel right to me about this whole situation. I’m finding it difficult to put into words why, but I’ll do my best.
If Teach attacked Shanks in the hopes of gaining more power then he very clearly either (1) got it or (2) didn’t. I think it’s important to point out that many things can give a person power over others. I truly believe that there is a high chance whatever Teach was after during the confrontation, was knowledge. I think he believed Shanks knew something he wanted and went after him for it. If that’s the truth, then there is no way Shanks didn’t know what he was looking for. For the simple reason that: You can’t get an answer out of someone without first asking the question.
Given what we know about Teach, I think there’s a likely chance that it had to do with either: The Yami Yami no Mi, the true power hidden on Mary Geoise, the One Piece, or Rocks D Xebec.
What bothers me is that, either Teach got ‘it’ or he didn’t. There’s no in between. If Teach didn’t gain what he hoped to from the fight, then I can see why Shanks made no moves against him afterwards. It would also make sense why he was so insistent with Whitebeard later on (considering he knew the type of things Teach was interested in based on what he wanted from him). But if he did get what he came for, then I feel like Shanks would be much more concerned earlier on and wouldn’t have waited until the last possible moment to say something.
This would also explain his trip to Mary Geoise. Many people believe that the pirate that Shanks wants to speak to the Gorosei about is Blackbeard.
In conclusion: It is my belief that Teach went to Shanks for answers on one of the ‘taboo subjects’ of the world. The scar most likely occurred either before he asked his question in a surprise attack or following Shanks refusal to answer. While Shanks learned the type of man Teach was during that fight, he saw no reason to be concerned at that moment. At that point, Teach was just a curious sneaky (possible) commander of the Whitebeard Pirates. I don’t think Teach’s curiosity triggered red flags until he killed Thatch, ate the Yami Yami no Mi and began to make moves. Finally, Shanks begins to get concerned now that the once curious man is making his grab for power, knowing that whatever information Teach wanted, he now has a better chance at gaining. So, he goes to Whitebeard and pleads with him to call back Ace, possibly with the knowledge that whatever Teach wants endgame, he needs someone Ace to achieve. Now that Teach has amassed all this power, I believe Shanks is legitimately concerned about what Teach will do and went to the Gorosei to discuss the possibilities.

--------------------------------------------------------
Alright so what the hell happened here? Well, sirens are traditionally known to lure fishermen to their deaths at sea by entrancing them with their singing, so (and this is just wild guessing on my behalf) it would seem this siren really took a liking to one person in particular. Instead of letting them sink on their own she took a hold of them and didn't let go. The sea however is unforgivable once you swallow enough seawater so their demise was inevitable, but for a brief moment I guess they were quite infatuated. And so unable to let go, she guards the corpse, hoping it'll respond some day. Yikes! amirite. What’s with ariabl’eyes girls getting these megacrushes on randos they just met (I’m looking at you girl from Akaki Akuma!) there’s plenty of other fish in the sea! no pun intended.
Anyway, as usual I'll add that maybe I'm just wildly off the mark and invite you to correct me and stuff. One interesting kanji usage off the top of my head is in Reverie, where hitoriasobi (playing by oneself) is written down as 妄想 (delusion), implying they've entirely gone unhinged with this whole thing and truly believe (in vain) that the person will wake up. Also siren in japanese is just seiren, but in this title it's written as 聖戀, with the characters for Holy/Divine and Love/Yearning.
Also Reverie fucking slaps?? Like big time??? And I love what they did with Dearest You, they took the sound from Uragiri no Bara and made it actually great this time, maybe even my favorite track out of this release. Pretty nice entry overall if you ask me, now I’ll go back to waiting for Rena and Luna’s triumphant return on the next one.
Are we still doing this? Well, I guess I am.

Biggest Coal Getters At Christmas In One Piece
As you know from this blog, I rag on the most hated characters in One Piece. At at this merry Christmas time, I want to show you all the biggest coal getters in this series.
12. Stelly
With being such an arrogant, self-important, entitled, and asshole brat, Sabo’s adoptive brother, Stelly, makes the first on the list on our naughty list. One has to feel sorry for the Gao kingdom for being ruled over such a spoiled king, who even thinks he can order Garp around because he’s originally from there.
11. Wapol
Another king on this list, but one who also is the president of his own toy company is Wapol. Like Stelly he was quite a horrible ruler when he was ruling Drum Kingdom, especially when he left the island to fend for itself when Blackbeard invaded and horded all the doctors so he could force people to pay high prices for them. Though he is currently living high now with his new kingdom gifted by the World Nobles, Santa still is going to leave a nice lump that fits his dark heart.
10. Judge
Just like with the earlier two entries, we have another asshole ruler and this one is the father of Strawhat member, Sanji. The ruler of the Germa 66, a seafaring kingdom that is notorious for conquering islands and being paid assassins, he is a social darwanist, who caused great abuse to Sanji throughout his childhood because he turned out normal. The only reason why he wanted Sanji back into his life was to cement an alliance with Big Mom by offering him as a groom for her daughter, Pudding, which turned out to be a trap because the Yonko planned to kill him and the other Vinsmokes off to get their technology. And at the wedding when the Big Mom Pirates’ true colors are showed, all that previous super macho bravado is melted away to reveal a sniveling coward who cries when someone puts him into the situation that he put others under. And for that the Germa clones will shoveling a lot of coal for a while.
9. Spandam
This guy is the poster child on why we should have anti-neoptism laws. A snively cowardly shit Spandam when he was head of the CP9 tortured Robin all the while she was under his captivity, while arrogantly believing his CP agents were untouchable. He also has little regard for human life when he accidentally triggered the buster call and didn’t care that his subordinates could die. He even called them needed sacrifices. He was also the reason why Tom, Iceburg and Franky’s mentor, was killed due to a frame up job he did in order to obtain the Pluton from him. It’s a bit karmic seeing him be forced to take orders from his former subordinate, Lucci, but even then the clumsy klutz should trip on his black pile of gifts he will get.
8. Hody Jones
Think Arlong, but with none of his few redeeming qualities. Although Hody can be said to be a product of his environment, he’s still a nasty racist shit, who should rot in the jail cell he was put in at the end of his starring arc. With his New Fishman Pirates, they planned on taking over the kingdom and go to Reverie where they planned to massarce everyone there. However, the worst thing he’s done is assassinate Queen Otohime, because she dared to try to aim to bring peace between humans and seafolk. If you think there can be a reason for his racism, then he would answer it himself: “nothing”. Nothing happened to him to make him hate humans personally he just grew up with the toxic belief that hating humans was justified. And for that Hody spends Christmas in a jail cell, while sharing it with the number of coals that can keep him and the other withered New Fishman Pirates company.
7. Mother Carmel
To the world (and to this day, Big Mom), Mother Carmel was a saintly figure who fostered peace between humans and giants plus opened up an orphanage for children of all races. However, underneath that facade lied a wicked slaver, who pretended to be a grandmotherly figure in order to sell children to the highest dollar. Her famed action of stopping the Elbaf crew from being executed was a staged event in order to gain the trust of the giants. Her most notable so-called prized asset was Charlotte Linlin (who would later become Big Mom), who to this day doesn’t know her foster mother never truly loved her and saw her as merchandise to be sold. Even though she’s a deceased character, she certainly deserves to have her stockings filled to the brim with stone, cold coal.
6. Blackbeard
Although he’s more of a love to hate example, we all know that Blackbeard deserves to be on this list. For one thing, if you want to know why the post-timeskip is chaotic as it is it’s thanks to this guy. He for years pretended to be a loyal member of Whitebeard’s crew and acted like one of the family knit setting. However, it’s all an at to get at the Yami Yami No Mi/Dark Dark Fruit. He killed one of his own brothers/crewmates, then went off to form his own crew where he fought Ace and got him handed over to the Marines, so that he could become a Warlord and get into Impel Down. There during the breakout he recruited level six members to his crew, then used them to kill his former captain and father figure Blackbeard. And postimeskip he has been shown to now be hunting down devil fruit users for his fellow crew. There is a reason why people say he’s the anti-Luffy and what a real non-romanticized pirate is like. So, I have a feeling Santa will be stopping by on Hive Island with some hefty packages that could fit his namesake.
5. Ceasar Clown
Although he’s shown as a butt monkey after his first appearance, the record of his misdeeds cannot be forgotten. On his island he kept children captive after a mole in the marines lied to their parents about them dying at sea, which he then proceeded to experiment on them with drugged candy which made them grow giant sized and shorten their live spans. All the while pretending he was actually curing them when he couldn’t give a shit. He also is notorious for making chemical weapons of mass destruction which is used by amoral individuals like the Beast Pirates. In other words, Santa strap this asshole to a big lump of coal and drown him.
4. Doflamingo
One of the most popular villians in the series is Donquixote Doflamingo, former Warlord, top broker, and King Of Dressrosa. Man, you could have a long list of all the shit he’s pulled throughout his career and life. On the outside he might look like a gaudy Elton John rip off, but on the inside bleeds one of the scariest and ruthless characters in the series. No wonder because he was born of the World Nobles, who are a sociopathic and psychotic bunch. From his take over to Dressrosa to funding Ceasar Clown’s research, he certainly can make you scared of the color pink. And that is why we have to heep this birds feathers with a black sheen.
3. Orochi
While Doffy is pretty to look at and is flamboyantly fun, Orochi just embodies “hate sink” stereotypes. He’s just made to be obvious that this guy is not going to be a good person. Spoilers ahead: I know he was influenced into becoming an asshole but he is still an asshole who sold out his country for his own benefit. Not to mention currently it was shown he was heavily implied to be the one who killed Suriyaki and lied to everyone about being named a successor with the help of that strange woman. His 20 years of terror have caused nothing but hurt to everyone under his rule as he causes a famine due to the occupying forces of the Beast Pirates. All of his because he believed he was entitled like his grandfather to be Shogun. He also wastes food, as his country is starving and feeds a whole village of hungry people failed “Smiles” so that they can quit crying about their dead loved ones. I know Santa would know of a way to get into this closed off country, so that he can deliver this shistain a coal that is as big as a mountain.
2. Kaido
Here is the man of thousand beasts and leader of the Beast pirates. Even though Blackbeard himself is no saint, he doesn’t seem to want to destroy the world like Kaido does. An unstoppable juggernaut, he sees suicide as a way to kill boredom and is often on his ass drunk. He’s ruled over Wano through Orochi for 2 decades, as he has decimated it into a famine wide place except the capitol where the rich and his toadie lives. He uses the land to function his own war effort and has caused many of the Wano people to go through great periods of grief. Like with Blackbeard, he’s an unromanticed version of what a pirate is really like. So, Kaido be prepared for Onigashima to reign coal like it’s no tomorrow.
1. World Nobles (Celestial Dragons)
By default, you know these shitty bastards would top the list. The biggest reason because of the fact that they are above the law and are allowed to do anything they like because they are so-called “gods”. They treat the general population like crap, while blatantly owning slaves when it was supposed to have been illegalized 2 centuries ago. They are also supported by a thing called heavenly tribute which country of the world government has to give continuously, lest they get kicked out and have no way of defending themselves from pirates or slave traffickers. So I can say the biggest coal getters go to these fat pigs in their towers. Better yet they should coal statues made in (dis)honor of them.

A Curse in Straw
Here I am with the last song analysis of this season in “Lyrical Love”! Today’s subject is a song by the dark visual kei band Xaa-xaa, precisely one of their recent works, Noroi uta (Cursed song), the lead-track of the 11th single with the same name, come out on 23th May 2018. The song encloses the darkest shades the band ever used, where the words and the sound have a strong connection, rendered by the unpredictable structure of the song.
THE MUSIC
The song is opened by a piercing guitar and an incredibly steady rhythm, where Kazuki’s voice shows off macabre and violent notes altogether, moving fast and with darker shades, creating a really chilling atmosphere; the melody alternates extreme parts, enriched by screamos, with energetic riffs and a little slow interlude, not put by case inside the theme; the song ends to be structurally dynamic and highly aggressive, worth of this band’s unique talent.
Lyrics (Romaji)

Lyrics (Translation)
A little needle points to someone Who wears a pure white cloth And brings a piercing affection.
You become a straw figure To be kept in the chest When I get out in the forest every night, I’d want to deal with it. (I)
What tree would you want to do? Selecting the pillar I will start the ceremony.
First of all, after getting closer, you embrace the corruption From your right arm Little by little you will regret it. (II)
One, two Straw, straw, oh no! Three, four Piercing Five, six Lament, lament, oh no! Seven, seven How pitiful it is.
I am sad sad I can’t do it Infinite sleepy nights Since when, since when? I become a demon One, two, hit and pierce.
「Cursed song」 (III)
One, two Turmoil, turmoil, oh no! Three, four Piercing Five, six Scream, scream, oh no! Seven, seven How pitiful it is.
I need it more of anything else A piercing body, which is exposed It doesn’t forgive, it doesn’t forgive, you laugh and so on There’s no escape from the death sentence. (IV)
The love, made pure, changes shape To an ugly figure which cannot be penetrated either by the eyes.
Enough.
Stop it
Immediately...
I will surely disappear But I won’t cling on. (V)
I am sad sad I can’t do it Infinite sleepy nights Since when, since when? I become a demon One, two, hit and pierce.
If you hurt, I won’t see it Now I can’t go back anymore In a deep forest Fallen in the darkness In the middle of the night. (VI)
THE WORDS
Written by the singer Kazuki, the song has a pretty free layout, as for each Xaa-xaa’s work, sign that the feelings and the images lead this text in its own development. In general the band is quite famous for its dark and mysterious themes, and the single where the song has been released is not so different; the b-side tracks, Shiranai, shiranai (I don’t know, I don’t know) and Kage (Shadow), deal respectively with the difficulty in understanding our reality and the shadow as a symbol of someone’s presence, and they fit perfectly with the macabre and disquieting theme of the song here analyzed. The title already contains a key word, the curse, made by the protagonist against a person who caused pain to him, an image vehicled by the song. With the creation of a figure, a straw puppet, the protagonist tries to exorcise and to get away the pain from his own life, even if it is hard to get rid of it. And now... let’s analyze the song!
I) The text starts with the image of a needle, the weapon used in the curse, which points to someone (Mijikai hari ga ichi wo sasu), a person who is wearing a pure white cloth (masshiro na koromo matoi, the white is symbol of a visibile thing) and brings up a piercing affection (surudoi aijou ikutsu mo/tazusae, note the final lines of each strophe containing only one word, in this case for emphasizing the action described); then the protagonist says to the reader, the target of his curse, that he is now a straw figure, so that he can keep it on his chest (Anata no sugata wara ni nari/futokoro ni shimaeru hodo), in order to challenge its own pain when he goes out in the forest by night (yonayona tobidase mori e to/mukaimasu).
II) Ironically, the protagonist asks to his target what tree he would use (Dochira no ki ni itashimashou), so that when he chooses the pillar, he can start his ceremony (hashira wo senbetsu sureba/gishiki wo toriokonaimasu/hajimari); during this one, the target will find himself embraced in the corruption, with his right arm (Mazu wa kegare wo dakiyoseta/anata no migi no ude kara, the right side in Japanese culture is linked to the wisdom, the thought and the mind), a choice he will soon regret (sukoshi zutsu yarimasu kara ne/sange wo).
III) The protagonist starts to violently hit the figure, counting them one after another, while he senses that is made of straw (Hitotsu futatsu/waraeya waraeya iyaiya, the straw is a symbol of frailty, the ease with which someone commits mistakes); then he continues to pierce and starts to hear laments (mitsu yottsu/ugate/itsutsu muttsu/nakeya nakeya iyaiya), but more he goes on, more he realizes that the whole situation is pitiful (nanatsu nanatsu/oki no doku). Then we get to know why the protagonist is doing this curse; this target has put him in the darkest sadness ever, a thing he can’t stand anymore (Kanashikute kanashikute/doushiyou mo nakute), which didn’t allow him to sleep for countless nights, at the point that he doesn’t remember when this pain started (nemurenai yoru kazoe/itsu kara ka? itsu kara ka?) and therefore he became a demon (watashi wa oni ni nari, note the use of the word “oni”, a mythological creature which has been described as a monster which protects people from evil things) and started this violent ritual against his target, object of his cursed song (hitotsu futatsu kugi wo utsu).
IV) He continues to hit the figure and senses a great turmoil around his target (Hitotsu futatsu/sawageya sawageya iyaiya) and while he goes on, feels his screams (itsutsu muttsu/nakeya nakeya iyaiya); then he says that he need a pierced body to expose for his pain more than anything else, as for outbursting his inner rage (Dare yori mo dare yori mo tsukaeteita no desu/mi wo kezuri mi wo teishi) and even if what he has received is unforgivable, the offender still laughs as nothing has happened (yurusanai yurusanai anata ga warau nado), confirming his death sentence, which there’s no escape from (shikeishuu wo nogasanai).
V) The protagonist says that a love which used to be pure, confirming that his offender was a person he loved, has changed its own shape (Muku naru ai wa katachi wo kaeyuki), becoming an ugly figure which can’t be penetrated either by his eyes (keredo kochira ni wa kobiritsuite kienai); so the target begs him to stop this violence (Shi ne/Todome/Hayaku..., this part puts the song’s meaning in discussion, as the text might be interpretated by the offended or the offender’s point of view, so it might be that the protagonist begged his loved one to stop inflicting him pain); finally the protagonist realizes that he will disappear sooner or later, but he won’t cling on to what made him suffer (Kitto sochira ni wa usureyuku mono de/keredo kochira ni wa kobiritsuite kienai).
VI) After repeating the second part of the third sequence, the text ends with the protagonist’s declaration; if his offender will get hurt because of his violent ritual, he won’t see that (Kizutsukeau no nara awanakereba), but now he can’t go back anymore to the deep and dark forest by the night, as when he started the cursed song, because the judgement has been issued (mou hikikaesenai hodo/fukai mori de/yami ni ochita/ushimitsu toki).
When someone inflicts pain to someone else, the punishment is unavoidable and cannot be escaped; with macabre and definitive tones, Xaa-xaa brush up the symbology of the darkest side of Japanese culture for an accurate description of a love pain, which leads the protagonist to a violent and obscure revenge, a metaphorical style for saying that none gets away with it.
That’s all folks! See you tomorrow for the last new review of the season in “Let’s Listen to”!
Thanks for the reading!

I HAVE A THOUGHT
Okay I’m like, exhausted. Haven’t really slept in like, four days. I’m at the point where I just KNOW I’m tired but I just don’t FEEL tired and I’ve been thinkin. Hear me out, it’s probably impossible. I blame my tired brain.
Luffy's Gear Second speeds up his blood, which in turn speeds up his body, he's tecchnically moving at speeds faster than much of the world around him with no mental jetlag, and only few physical repercussions (it strainss his heart, I don't care if he's made of rubber, that shit is dangerous!!). But like, hear me out, I might just be really tired and coming up with stupid shit, but like, if Luffy Awakens his Devil Fruit, if at all possible for him, what if it's just like activating Gear Two.
But instead of just gaining a speed boost, ot allows him to go so fast he travels through time??? Or gains an ability akin to the Instant Transmission technique from Dragon Ball Z???
Really, logic does NOT apply to Luffy, at all. He has gone into situations that have the odds SO stacked against him it’s not funny, but usually comes out on top! He’s a favorite of Lady Luck, has almost died like… 15 times, was fucking TORTURED as a child by a nasty, rotten pirate who didn’t care what he did because obviouSLY THE END JUSTIFIES THE MEANS, was RESCUED from CERTAIN DEATH by his CHILL FOSTER DAD™(Shanks), has managed to turn ENEMIES into ALLIES, not once but like DOZENS of times, rose to infamy in like… threeeeeeish months, survived his abusive freak of a grandfather (I love Garp, I really do, but that is NOT how you show love, and that is NOT how you treat a child. HE NEARLY KILLED LUFFY OVER A DOZEN TIMES USING THE EXCUSE OF “Training him to be an upstanding marine”! If anything, I think that Garp made Luffy begin to doubt becoming a marine, thought about it with a simple “I’ll have to listen to commands, and it’s a robbery of freedom”, but wasn’t about to abandon the option, because he still loved his grandpa and wanted to make him proud. Shanks and his stories of his grand adventures as a pirate merely allowed Luffy to harbor and grow that doubt into a hard-as-diamond belief.), stopped the civil war in Alabasta because WOW VIVI IS DISTRESSED LET’S NOT, broke into Impel Down, got terribly poisoned, was given the option to be cured but the cure was ALMOST just as deadly as the poison itself, went through TERRIBLE pain, and came out VICTORIOUS, albeit in technical terms ten years older (not physically, he lost ten years doing that. In my standards, he aged up ten years in bodily health. It won’t catch up with him til later in his life though, I bet), and survived getting the flesh on his chest, his RUBBER FLESH (ugh, that must have been horrible to see, and smell), melted off because he had been lucky enough to have caught the interest of supernova-at-the-time, Trafalgar Law.
With all of that in our minds, I wouldn’t doubt that Lady Luck would grant his Awakened Devil Fruit the ability to travel through time, or basically teleport.
Because come on.
He’d literally be stretching time and space.
’~’
I admit, he’d, at first, almost do something stupid. With time travel, he’d go back and try to prevent so much bad shit that’d happened to him without thinking of the consequences, as always, and he would end up DRASTICALLY changing things.
For example: he would go back to prevent, let’s say, the events of Marineford. Whitebeard would still be alive, Ace would still be alive, so much DEATH would have been avoided, and Teach would target Luffy and his crew in an attempt to become shichibukai. The vile man had seen Luffy’s wanted poster and decided to target him, and then full out admitted this to Ace at Banaro, and Ace definitely was NOT going to have that! I memorized their conversation as evidence because people like to sass me with a classic “YOU HAVE NO PROOF!”:
“First, I’ll go to Water Seven from here to kill Strawhat Luffy and hand him over to the government!”
“Luffy…!? What did you say…!? ”
“Oh? You know him?”
“I won’t let you lay a finger on him. He’s my little brother! ”
’~’
Luffy preventing Ace from being taken to Impel Down in the first place, which means preventing Ace from continuing to hunt Teach by, maybe, telling Ace about the Yami Yami no Mi and it’s abilities, and, if he manages it because coME ON, he can’t to save his life, lie about how he knows this, which would either drive Ace back towards Whitebeard in an attempt to prepare for such a battle, maybe even train more, or wouldn’t prevent Ace’s action against Teach, but would cause him to take the fight MUCH more seriously from the get go with the newfound knowledge. Going with the latter route, Ace taking the fight seriously from the start, if Ace seems too powerful to Teach, he’d do everything in his ability to flee the battle, as the man has always been a coward, and was never a carrier of The Will of D, despite being Marshall D. Teach. I don’t doubt that Teach would somehow escape Ace’s fury and flee Banaro, deciding against his thought of turning in Ace instead of Strawhat. He would hide out with his crew, or what may be left, for a lil less than a month. Lay low. No destruction, no killing, nothing from the Blackbeard Pirates. They would fall off the grid. Ace, having lost the man’s trail, would either continue roaming for any leads, or retreat back towards Whitebeard with his newfound knowledge of the man’s abilities, because he has SOMETHING on the man now, and his crew should know.
Teach would then head towards Sabaody and Fishman Island to have a run in with the Strawhats. They wouldn’t win that battle, and Luffy, plus his crewmates if they knew, would then be given to the government, and, knowing Luffy’s heritage, they’d rush to execute him almost as fast as they had with Ace. The papers would be full of excitement over it.
“SON OF REVOLUTIONARY DRAGON TO BE EXECUTED IN A MONTH!” the paper would scream, alerting everyone Luffy had managed to save or befriend, in one way or another. Shanks, Dorry, Brogy, Whitebeard (if Ace found out and lost his shit. He would try to leave, to rescue his baby brother, who doesn’t deserve to be executed. He would be held back, kicking, screaming, and crying out that Luffy was his first light in the dark, that he needs to save his little, adorable brother, that he’d always hate himself more than he has if he lets Luffy die. I feel that it would hurt Whitebeard and the others on the ship to see someone who was usually smiling and cracking jokes and being a nasty little brat on some days, and just an all around JOY to be around, be so… lost, and broken, and just a WRECK. They’d go and help save Luffy, I think. Whitebeard knows the importance of family, knows that Luffy means the WORLD to Ace, who was so, so PROUD when Luffy’s first bounty came out, and any brother of Ace was a son of his, and no one would be executing one of his sons when he could do anything about it.), two Yonkos and two giants.
The marines had been dreading in the original timeline that Shanks would join in the fighting when he arrived 15 minutes late to the war with a latte, imagine their horror as Whitebeard and Shanks join forces to save a simple, small boy made of rubber, who's grin and energy touched the hearts of practically millions on both the East Blue and the Grand Line.
But, the whole thing would be a plot by the marines to draw out Dragon, to catch him trying to rescue his son. But, the Revolutionaries, they are one big WILD CARD! I haven’t gotten enough about Dragon himself to even begin to THINK that be would mobilize forces to save Luffy. But, he did rescue Luffy at Loguetown, remember that. I bet he would be so so PROUD of Luffy, who was causing the World Government so much CHAOS, doing just what he had been doing, but instead of planning, like Dragon, he just went and did it. And if anything, the sudden headline would spark SOMETHING in the amnesiac that is Sabo, a deep-seated terror that he doesn’t know the origins of, or maybe it would knock him into a wave of soul crushing horror as memories of a small, bright little boy came crashing into him like a tsunami, he would drop the paper in horror, he never knew that Dragon was Luffy’s FUCKING FATHER, he would rush to Dragon about it, and if the man would do nothing, Sabo would become enraged. What a horrible father, what a SNAKE! He would beg, plead, do anything to get this man to save his FUCKING SON! And if Dragon was going to act, he would assign Sabo and a select group to infiltrate Impel Down to save Luffy, only to have barely missed him, yet they would be able to break out Luffy’s crew, if they had been captured when trying to help Luffy. Anyone can elaborate on what happens after this, I’m moving on.
If Ace had retreated to Whitebeard instead of going to Banaro to confront Teach, the man would have, more than likely, destroyed Banaro and would make his way to Water Seven. I estimate that he’d make it there after the events of Enies Lobby, unaware of the dramatic uppage in bounty that would follow. Aqua Lagoona had just passed, he’d just miss the Strawhats leaving the large city, but he would see the newly built Thousand Sunny flying as quick as a bee out towards the ocean, and he would follow. They’d go through some bastardized game of cat and mouse, I doubt Teach would even TRY confronting the Strawhats so close to Thriller Bark. So he’d wait until the fog lifted, like an idiot, because he probably doesn’t know the fog won’t lift. But, and correct me if I’m wrong, the fog DOES lift after Moria is defeated. He follows Luffy to Sabaody, where he confronts the Strawhat crew, and from here I believe the events mentioned in the last path would come to pass.
’~’
That was an example of what his meddling with time could lead to. Robin, of course, would stop him from doing it. She understands the risks of time travel, she’s read many books after all. Not only would she warn him to never use his power unless it was his ONLY CHOICE, she’d have him PROMISE!! And Luffy never breaks a promise, at least, not to my knowledge. It would be a great way to reset if he loses too much. And that means if he loses his crew, and he doesn’t feel he can go on without them.
Honestly, I find Luffy’s Gears facinating. Gear Two is advanced speed, Gear Three is damage spread across a large distance, and Gear Four is a mix of both. Truly interesting, the things Luffy has come up with for attacks and abilities when it comes to his own body. Which is why I’m instantly appealed by a Luffy moving so fast that he stretches time and space to the point of time travel, or teleportation.
And honestly, I kinda wanna see what other people have to think about my lil (understatement) rant here.
This has been your friendly neighborhood crow, signing out so I can attempt to sleep.

gin will be a member of blackbeard pirates and he will kill mihawk
.
it proves how strong Gin is, since Sanji and Luffy couldn’t do anything to get through his armor and Gin shatters it with one attack. I’ve seen people saying that he’s ‘too weak’ to make it in the Grand Line, but considering this, and the fact that he’s had as much time as Sanji and Luffy to get stronger, I think he’d do okay.
people suggest that shilew will kill mihawk while having the diamond fruit(which mihawk seemingly cant cut for his slash didnt cut jozu though its possible that it was because the slash was meant for whitebeard though I doubt it) and this will mean zoro will be forced to learn how to cut diamond in the middle of the fight just like he did against mr.1 which is due to mr.1s comment asking what will you cut next diamond which is foreshadowing to zoro cutting diamond) because he's a swordsman like zoro but Shiliews admiration for Shiki's Fuwa Fuwa no Mi, expressed at Shiki's escape, so I think shilew will gain that DF. I think gin will gain the diamond fruit and kill mihawk since when mihaw first came into the story he had been stated to have destroyed plenty of don kriegs battleships killing alot of gins subordinates/friends who gin cares about. mihawk is themed after the vampire dracula I mean his surname is dracule a obvious reference and His overall appearance has a vampire type of theme. For example, the coffin-type of boat he rides on, the cross references, and the pale skin. Mihawks full name is Dracule mihawk and dracule is a variation of dracula and mihawk has various similarities to dracula in that dracula was stated to have hawk like facial features like mihawk, have dark gothic castles, and a cross theme in which crosses are around their appearances. Dracula is known to live off in distant castles, and as you have seen, Mihawk lives in a creepy distant castle himself. Dracula and Mihawk both drink red wine and red wine his mihawks favorite Read this next passage: Count Dracula (a first name is never given) is a centuries-old vampire, sorcerer, and Transylvanian nobleman, who claims to be a Székely descended from Attila the Hun. He inhabits a decaying castle in the Carpathian Mountains near the Borgo Pass. Unlike the vampires of Eastern European folklore, which are portrayed as repulsive, corpse-like creatures, Dracula exudes a veneer of aristocratic charm. In his conversations with Jonathan Harker, he reveals himself as deeply proud of his boyar heritage and nostalgic for the past times, which he admits have become only a memory of heroism, honor and valor in modern times. From this, I perceive Mihawk's boredom. He is nostalgia for the past times also, when he was still aiming to be the top swordsman. Mihawk is also shown to be aristocratic also, he's not outspoken or rude. He is very well mannered. so basically mihawk references or allusion to dracula ( I am not saying that mihawk is an actual vampire I am saying that mihawk is based off of him gin is japanese for silver and silver is one of the few things that can kill a vampire in their mythos ( supernatural monsters/demons are weak against silver. particularly werewolves and vampires which mihawk references )
www.gods-and-monsters . com/how-to-kill-a-vampire . html
Again, the curse of silver begins before the first vampire became a vampire, when the goddess Artemis (Greek mythology) cursed the first vampire so that his skin burned when it touched silver. Using silver is a bit like a blend between sunlight and a wooden stake. It doesn't work as well as either of those two options, but it has advantages of its own. First of all, unlike sunlight, silver is highly portable. You can carry an item of solid silver (make sure it's real, solid silver please) with you easily. Secondly, it won't kill a vampire to stab it in the heart with silver (as it would using a wooden stake), but it will slow down the healing process, which can be very helpful.
, www . quora . com/Why-in-vampire-lore-are-vampires-burned-by-silver
In many (ie not all) cases of vampire lore, vampires are harmed/hindered by silver.
The reasons vary - in ancient Greek mythology the reason is because their first vampire was cursed by Artemis to be burnt by the touch of silver since he was stealing her silver bow at the time (he was already cursed by Apollo to be burnt by sunlight and had other inconveniences.
(further reading - Greek version: The Vampire Origin - The Vampire Love Story That Started It All continued with Vampires and Silver )
Note that silver bullets are typically associated with werewolves and not vampires, however ... www. joshsanctum . com/stori...
Myth: Vampires aren't hurt by silver, only werewolves are.Reality: Pure, undiluted silver (or nearly so) WILL hurt vampires, in much the same way as garlic. Both used together (as in bullets) can even paralyze the vampire injured by them, and will (at the very least) cause crippling pain.
Silver Has Mystic Powers - TV Tropes
Christian and several pre-Christian mythologies also have a connection between the sun, the divine (particularly those associated with the sun, light, purity), and silver objects. The problem with mirrors is partially silver related (mirrors were frequently made of/with silver)
- the Judas Iscariot betrayal incident with the silver coins is a factor - basically associative symbolism.
a summary of types of vampires and their reaction to silver
List of vampire traits in folklore and fiction under the heading Weaknesses List of vampire traits in folklore and fiction
additional further reading Vampire folklore by region
,
Silver was considered a mystical element in folklore, and thus its properties become reality in fiction. The metal can do many things, from channel magic, to stopping evil (including warding off or harming vampires and werewolves),
Unlike in post-Medieval works, many pre-Christian pagan mythologies also associated it with the Sun, and many solar deities are described with silver objects (like Saule's silver thread, Apollo's silver bow and arrows or Amaterasu's silver mirror).
This trope is the reason vampires traditionally have no reflections and don't show up on film. Old-timey mirrors used silver backing to achieve reflection, and black and white film used silver nitrates to capture the image (plus some old camera models included mirrors in the light capture mechanism); since vampires are unholy, their light is not picked up by divine silver.
and its quite possible that when he returns he is using a spear instead of his tonfa so I think gin will gain the diamond fruit and kill mihawk(for mihawk is based off of a vampire and silver is one of the few things that can kill a vampire so it would be symbolic for a person named something that means silver to kill a person named after a vampire )
by stabbing him in the heart with a spear vampires are traditionally killed by a stake through the heart
and count dracula was based off vlad the impaler who liked killing people through impalement so it would be fitting for mihawk to die impaled
and gin will be avenging his dead subordinates/friends.
in eastern there is a myth about how dragons first start of as snake like creature but then they will grow and shed the skin of a snake and become a dragon
In the sixteenth century of our era a Japanese author1 spoke of an old (certainly Chinese) tradition, according to which a dragon’s fetus lives during a thousand years in the sea, for a thousand years in the mountains and, after having been among men (“in a village”, says the text) for the same long period, it finally is born, becomes a dragon and ascends to the sky2. During these three thousand years the fetus lives as a very small snake within astone, the dragon’s egg, which is first lying at the bottom of the sea, then comes to the mountains (how it got there is not explained), where after a thousand years it is picked up by somebody who carries it home and preserves it on account of its beautiful colours, or uses it as an ink-stone (suzuri, 硯 ). As it invariably has the remarkable peculiarity of constantly producing water (the dragon’s element), it is a very convenient ink-stone indeed3. But woe him who possess such a stone at the end of the millennial period which the fetus must pass among mankind, for then the stone splits, and a small snake creeps out of it, which in a few moments becomes larger and larger, and with a terrible noise forces its way to the sky, smashing the roof amid thunder and lightning, and ascending in a dark cloud. The little reptile has become an enormous four-legged dragon, which leaves the narrow abodes of men and frees himself in this terrific way.”
japanesemythology . wordpress . com/stories-of-dragon-eggs-a-ka-dragon-inkstones-in-japan/
and this fits gin who will end up shedding the skin of a snake and get a dragon symbol becoming the dragon tvtropes . org/pmwiki/pmwiki . php/Main/TheDragon) (as in right hand man) to blackbeard ( heck its possible that if there is some secret to gaining a second devil fruit and that there is a way to alter the rest of the captains of BB pirates bodys so they can have a second devil fruit though (as some people suggested ) they wont be able to have 3 DFs like blackbeard ( and thats implied by his 3 motif and the fact that he has a 3 heads on his flag) and there being 3 types of DFs) that gin will have a dragon DF
and blackbeard could be described as the evil counterpart/reflecting the nagative aspects to roger with his ruthlessness
given that blackbeard is the evil counterpart/foil to luffy
the best fit for the trope http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/EvilCounterpart. In addition, the rest of his crew also shadow other members of Straw Hats. Just take a look at Teach's Black Hole stance—it's almost picture-perfect for Gear Second's stance, save for the open palm as opposed to closed fist. Now, contrast the black "smoke" of the Yami Yami no Mi to the white steam that comes off of Luffy. If this doesn't set off some parallel alarms, nothing's gonna. This becomes even more clear with the addition of Shiliew who, being a master swordsman, is a pretty obvious shadow of Zoro. Another similar trait is his own talent to get powerful pirates to join him. And at least in his original crew (if not necessarily his expanded one) Evil Is One Big, Happy Family. Also both Blackbeard and Luffy were recognized by Shanks as having great potential; he saves Luffy's life at the cost of his own arm, and he warns Whitebeard to not let the powerful Ace tangle with Blackbeard.
“It’s interesting that, even though it’s not obvious right away that Blackbeard will be kind of the ultimate Big Bad, Oda immediately highlights the fact he and Luffy are exact opposites by making them have differing opinions on things as unassuming as food and drinks.”
it goes to show while they have similarities in their reactions to the other they simply have different tastes
and blackbeard pirates are the evil counterpart to the straw hats and how luffy has shown to be compared to roger it fits that he reflects gold roger in some way
Roger was someone who enjoyed doing things in the flashiest way possible. BB is the same.
and blackbear wears hat, coat and waistband similar to roger
plus
t I do have to respect that he values his crew and their safety and seems to care about them, because that’s not something that can be said for a lot of the antagonists in this series.
aoireadsop . tumblr . com/post/134931407354/i-have-immense-dislike-for-blackbeard-but-i-do
Teach takes comradeship with the crew he formed to a high level, made evident when he was willing to make a trade with the Marines for a battleship big enough to hold all of them comfortably for the sake of one crew member, Sanjuan Wolf. he is also genuinely compassionate, caring, sympathetic and empathetic towards his crew's well-being and is willing to take assaults intended for his crew
and gin is the japanese word for silver
and gins birthday was revealed in an sbs in one piece volume 81 to be April 7th 04/07 (Atomic number of Silver "47"
and gins birthday was revealed in an sbs in one piece volume 81 to be April 7th 04/07 (Atomic number of Silver "47")
and rogers vice commander was SILVERS rayleigh so it would fit for his right hand to reflect rogers right hand man and zoro . zoros goal is to become worlds best swordsman which means he will be mihawk gins goal will be to specifically kill mihawk in revenge while zoro said that he doesnt like to fight for revenge. gins name is the japanese word for silver so it similar to the name of silvers rayleigh so his name would parallel rayleighs name like how blackbeards name and appearance also parallel his former captain Whitebeard. and his personality traits above are like an evil twist to rogers . like how he is luffys evil counterpart with gin being the vice admiral of the group
(maybe a confrontation between rayleigh and gin since I think rayleigh is mihawks father )
and gin will fight zoro due to gin killing mihawk and it was his goal to beat mihawk but if zoro defeats gin who killed mihawk he will achieve his goal anyway by defeating the man mihawk lost to ( heck since we dont know gins last name maybe his last name is hellsing a reference to the dracula books and hellsing defeated dracule) and sanji will fight shilew for shilew was warden of impel down which is based on hell and sanji is based on satan .

[translation+lyrics] 孤高の女神 by Ariabl’eyeS
youtube
So uhhh, about time I did this lol. This is the first new song in the album and dear god, it’s so good. This and the next two songs all feature both of the band’s vocalists which as you may know is the easiest way to keep my attention. Very active, very powerful, just great, it lulls a bit from time to time to let us hear the ominous chanting in the background but doesn’t do it enough for me to see a problem with that, just awesome.
Storywise, well I went ahead and also wrote down the two brief narration tracks that precede this but basically the world is very cold and harsh so a girl sets out from her village to achieve global warming in any way possible, and in this track she meets with the ice goddess who takes a liking to her, so they start living together while they solve the whole russian winter situation that’s been going on, as apparently an evil witch is to blame. Fun stuff. Also gotta say those little narration tracks are actually pretty great at setting the mood, excellent work on those.
So yeah, lyrics down below and I’ll see you again soon.

1. Prelude-Edifice-
A world of never ending snow. The ice forever shining and un-melting. The blue flowers of this world are surrounded by a pure white landscape. The goddess of this world spends her days in solitude. That lone figure has her pure white skin covered by long silver hair. Her unapproachable and piercing eyes see all the way to the horizon. The ice goddess chants. When, and who taught her that song, she has long since forgotten. Her song dances through the emptiness and as it echoes, solitude dissipates. Yet all joy and sorrow is bound to be dragged into this labyrinth.

3. 小さな決意 (Chiisana Ketsui, A Small Decision)
No matter how far away you look, this is a cold world. Folks at the village would always suffer under the hoarfrost. Yet to this day they continue to live on like that. A helpless girl with no relatives, she decided to leave for good. For the sake of the living, she decided to embark on a lone journey. A journey with no destination. She walked and walked, yet the frozen landscape only extended before her. Yet she could hear a voice drawing her in, with a beautiful and sad song that invited her. And so the girl wandered through the forest on her own. And far away in the distance, she spotted a massive fortress, and headed to it. Only leaving her trail behind on the snow as she ventured in.

4.孤高の女神 (Kokou no Megami, The Lonesome Goddess)
Lyrics and Composition: リゼ
Vocals: Rena, Luna
juukou na tobira hirakare seijaku no toki wa ima kirisakare
The massive door opened, and the silence was broken
byoushin ga kizamu you na ashioto ni sono karada furuwasete
as the clock ticked on, her body trembled with every footstep
hakugin no yoroi wo mi ni matoishi kami ga tsumetai manazashi de mitsume te wo maneita
The goddess clad in her silver armor gave her a blank stare as she invited her to approach
itetsuki furueteiru no hatenai yoru wo tsuranuku anata no ikari ga sekai wo koorasete shimatta kara tsukiyo wo shiro ni somete ozomashii majo wo hofuru no saranaru yami ni sekai ga ooitsuku sareru mae ni
We're freezing and trembling through this endless night because your anger has freezed this entire world Then I'll put an end to this white night by slaying the fearsome witch Before this world turns even bleaker
shizumaranu fubuki no naka de hitobito wa katayosete inori wo
Silently from within the hail the people pray for one thing
kono sekai no yami wo tsukasadoru kage no shisha bara wo akaku someru you ni hametsu wo negau
They ask for the messenger of the shadows that controls the darkness of this world to be dealt with and be tainted as red as a rose
itetsuki furuwaseru no wa hatenai yami wo tsui he to anata wa kono sekai wo sukuu tame mai odoru no yamiyo ni hibiki wataru ozomashii majo wo hofuru no anata ni wakare wo tsugeru shinku no sora wo miagete
This endless and frozen night will be our end I'll do anything for you as long as you save this world The night will be pierced by an echoing scream as I kill the awful witch And then I'll bid you farewell as dawn arrives once again
kodoku ni furueteita no yukuate no nai sekai de kanawanu negai dato shitemo anata no soba ni isasete kodoku ni furueteita no ozomashii majo wo uchinagara garasu no hitomi wa itsushika nukumori motomete ita no
I'm trembling and lonely in this world, with no place to go back to if you won't grant my wish, then at least let me remain by your side I will slay the lone witch who's made you all shiver And give some warmth to those clear eyes that have yearned for it for so long
koori no shiro no naka hibiku futari no koe wa tsumetaku atataka na shinfonii kanadete imashita
both of their singing voices echoed throughout the ice fortress as they sung together a cold yet warm symphony
Just for fun, as I waited for scans I went ahead and wrote the lyrics myself without posting them and lo and behold, I originally had a grand total of 14 mistakes in this song, 15 mistakes in the next one, and 9 in the next-next one. Just saying this is why I always wait for booklet scans instead of working things on my own, my hearing is just too inaccurate and cannot be trusted.
