"black people are seen as hyper-masculine and face a lot of violence for it, so yes you can be oppressed for seeming or being masculine"
AHT!! lets talk! black people are not actually hyper-masculine. hyper-masculinity is a projection by people trying to justify anti-black fear and violence. it is not a true and then demonised observation about black existence. the hyperfocus on the masculinity of black people is itself racism!
when you call this issue of racism anti-masculinity or misandry or whatever, you are obfuscating the bigotry at play. ESPECIALLY given that it is overwhelmingly just white women's fear about black people's supposed hyper-masculinity that actually gets listened to & acted upon.
in addition, there are other addendums people tack onto their anti-blackness that completely cause this logic to fall apart when applied. Namely, adultification! black people, black children get adultified by white society.
We are assumed to be older & more independent, and thus less in need of the safety, care, sensitivity, accommodation one would give to a child, and this results in violence and neglect. it is directly observable in the way black children are more likely to get detention, suspended or expelled for the same behaviour as their white peers, s/a rates for black youth, and the arguments that 40 y/o cops give for brutalising & murdering black 20, 16, 12, 8 year olds who so much as breathe in their line of sight.
Given this then, following the misandry logic, we can say being recognised as older or as an adult is a form of oppression.
"black people are seen as older/more mature and face a lot of violence for it, so yes, you can be oppressed for seeming like or being an adult"
we can for the sake of this post name this oppression adultery.
i kid. but do you see the problem. being recognised as an adult is obviously, not itself a form of oppression, in fact quite the opposite, being recognised as adult can grant you a lot of privileges that children do not have.
and black kids are evidently, not adults or people who act like adults. they dont mature faster. black 18 y/os will also face the problem of adultification to justify violence against them. black maturity is not a true and then demonised observation about black existence. the form of oppression is racism, and adultification is the deployed means of enacting racism.
the means of combatting the adultification of black people would not come in creating adult positivity or "advocating" for adults or telling children not to fear adults. it comes in the form of learning about anti-blackness, unlearning anti-blackness, and actually directly combatting anti-blackness.
similarly the means of combatting the hyper-masculinisation of black people comes in the form of learning about anti-blackness, unlearning anti-blackness, and actually directly combatting anti-blackness.
Racism explains both of this phenomena far better than "misandry" ever could.
#thought experiment i guess have fun w it#not too much#i didnt even get into how femininity does not protect black people either#also i do notice how yall only seem to care about racism when it lets you pretend misandry is real#racism#anti blackness#.txt#i am so annoyed by ppl who still think centering men is a revolutionary act like im so tired and i just want to express that#if u wanna help black people! help! black! people! ur masc positivity does not trickle down to us!!!#signed - a black transmasc stud#there is an arabic saying

you guys know butch =/= taking T right? you guys know dyke masculinity is not correlated to being transmasc right? you guys know that even your silly jokes where you flatten butchness to taking T/being transmasc is extremely transmisogynistic right?

A lot of people in the iwtv Fandom regurgitate antiblack talking points particularly wrt Louis being femme/effeminate/gnc and it's genuinely so disgusting like no, Louis is not making his partners engage in domestic labor when they participate in the businesses and investments they are partial owners of. No, Louis is not being the patriarch of rue royale when lestat leaves the house after beating Louis within an inch of his life. No Louis is not "masculine for his culture" especially when compared to other black men in the same time period. People will actively ignore canon to make Louis into this hypermasculine black brute and Lestatr or armand into these shrinking violets that are oppressed by Louis when he's not that at all. The only times he's ever acted even close to that stereotype is to assimilate into a white supremacist society that expected that of him in order for him to earn a living and to please Armand, which causes him great distress and visibly worsens his mental health to the point of Louis lashing out at Claudia and being so entirely numb that he self harms. Louis is not this hypermasculine black brute and a lot of people try to make him into one bc of unconscious bias surrounding black people (black people have been stereotyped as hypermasculine, angry, overly violent and sexual deviants since the 1700s) or to absolve their non black favs of the actual patriarchal and oppressive violence they enact on Louis and Claudia or a combination of the two. It's disgusting, do better
#interview with the vampire#iwtv#amc iwtv#louis de pointe du lac#lestat de lioncourt#iwtv 2022#ldpdl#armand iwtv#loustat#loumand#fandom antiblackness#fandom racism#saw the most disgusting post saying lestat was calling himself melisadae in come to me and not the other way around like#that wasnt the whole crux of the post but that stuck out to me bc its the biggest indicator of how nb people will twist themselves in knots#to make lestat into this hyperfemme thats being taken advantage of by the big black brute louis#the evidence stares you in the face and yet people are like no louis is the oppressor like please listen to yourselves#louis is feminine in canon! he wears outfits that routinely signal feminine (silk scarves) and armand mocks his feminine behaviors#and when louis isnt interested in the painting of the battle in ep 4 armand tells him to go look at paintibgs of fruit and flowers#most of Louis’s behaviors signal as feminine to his family and other black people. his mama talking about his nails and glasses and clothes#the white daddy comment like people see louis as feminine bc he is!#THE NIGGA DRINKS TOM COLLINS WHICH IS JUST A LEMONADE WITH FLOWER LIQUOR IN IT AND MARTINIS HES EFFEMINATE#saw someone say that bc louis was reading lestats copy of madame bovary (that he bought for louis) he was the masc one and i just cant#lestat literally bought the stylish clothes and books and furniture that louis said were nice and we know that cus it literally happens ep 1#louis pushes Lestat’s buttons by telling him hes not actually cultured bc he doesnt read the books he owns but louis does#lestat is not some shrinking violet at the whims of louis he says so himself in s2e7#like yall are ridiculous

can't stop thinking about cheerleaders in mcr again
the way they've been in so many of their music videos - I'm not okay, teenagers, blood - and photo shoots and represented things like the American dream and the 'popular' crowd and blind conformity and youth and a certain (male gaze-y) kind of femininity
the way you can turn on kerrang and be very likely to see a band of similar genre also using cheerleaders in their music videos but it being 70% up-skirt shots or love interests whereas mcr have never done that
the way mcr never made the cheerleaders or any female characters in their mv's a 'safe' or 'attractive' kind of weird but instead straight up weird allowing them to dance strangely and wear gas masks and be covered in blood and be rejected by getting poked in the eye or even completely ignored actively tarnishing the cheerleader persona
the way gerard way has now dressed up as one, siding with the cheerleaders after being separate from them for so long
as if the cheerleader is no longer just that but also the girl within the uniform, done being used as a symbol of the American dream and the 'popular' crowd and blind conformity and sexualised femininity unwillingly
the 'and so he gets to die a Saint but she will always be a whore' of it all
#am i making sense??#idk i wrote this all in one go because im crazy about this rn like omg#im sure this has been said in some capacity before as well but i cant shut upppp#btw when i say male gaze-y femininity i dont mean mcr projected that onto them i mean they were aware of this existing and chose the#cheerleaders as a symbol based on that#mcr#my chemical romance#gerard way

#(+ obligatory Fern Pout. i think it's the grumbly noise she makes that really sells it but i still had to draw it)#been thinking about this with melody for a while#& was inspired to throw fern in the mix when i saw her standing there like a telephone pole during her third exam#hunter x hunter#hxh#melody hxh#senritsu#sousou no frieren#fern frieren#(middle right is a manga panel redraw btw)#as much as i love dressing up melody in cute outfits & poses one thing i really love about her in canon is how a lot of the time#she's just kinda standing there in her signature potato sack dress#she wears dresses/feminine clothing but isn't really the “girly” type like bisky or palm#nor a Kickass Fight Girl™ but is still competent enough to participate in the plot#she values things like emotions music healing and protecting people without being “soft uwu Team Heart girl”#and not a mom/sister figure even with kacho or neon where she's in the position of protecting a younger girl#i know this word doesn't really mean anything but to my brain she's just *normal*#a depiction of femininity that i vibe with more than many others i guess#to some extent i feel that with fern too even if she's a bit more. well.#let's just say i spent two minutes in the fern tag and the amount of anime tiddies in there does not surprise me in the least

As someone who is genderfae (microlabel under genderfluid), I have a lot of different experiences with gender.
I just wish someone told me sooner that it won't go like "today I'm a girl" "today I'm an enby" but more like ,,, "today I am a swamp witch" "today I am a feminine victorian vampire boy" "today I am a forest goblin collecting people's stares about my gender expression like shiny rocks on the ground" "today I'm an androgynous pirate lady"
Like,,, sure, are those real genders? I don't fucking now. If a cisgender person asked me what I identify as that day, would I answer like that? No, definitely not.
But to my genderqueer, trans and genderfluid friends; do you get me? I can't be alone with this, right?
#genderfluid#genderfae#gender expression#genderqueer#transgender#nonbinary#queer#questioning my gender yet again#gender crisis#gender#my gender soup has so many flavours you don't understand#i needed to explain to my friend that when i say i want to dress like the cutest victorian inspired goth vampire prince#it's not actually a male gender#like.. you would really think it is#but that is a very nonbiney gender somehow#don't ask me how#or maybe it does count as male?#but the femininest androgynous male you can think of#like cute pretty let me giggle like a little girl kinda feminine#i don't even know if half of these things make sense#“why don't you just say girl or enby”#because moon witch dark cottagecore female isn't the same#as go out in the sun and enjoy the breeze i command a ship androgynous pirate lady female#anyways

Listening to the August 11th entry I got once again so mad! at most adaptations getting the story and characters so wrong! What do you mean Lucy “wanted” or “deserved” Dracula attacking her? The poor baby girl was under hypnosis and shivering when Mina found her on the bench, not to mention mentally exhausted already by the dark influences before.
What do you mean Mina is a “passive” Victorian Lady? Girl is a working-class independent woman who instead of having a relaxing summer constantly takes care of her bff, saves her on multiple occasions from bigger harm, keeps a cold head while racing in the middle of the night across the whole town to save her friend, and knows how to take care from dangers when walking alone home in the dark. Not to mention her own heart being full of worry for her beloved fiancé as well.
#when ever I read a 19th century novel I am kinda shocked how more “modern” it is than most things today#judging by some books and movies one would say we have it all backwards#having strong yet feminine heroines?#having brave yet emotionally open men?#19th century literature got it#things i like#books#dracula daily#bram stoker´s dracula

I love how people are only ever interested in defending Arya's right to be weird-looking. It's never defending her intelligence from people who claim she's incapable of thinking for herself, highlighting her importance to the plot and refusing to see her as just a prop, acknowledging how much of her story gets stolen and given to other characters, talking about her trauma or how often it gets erased and overlooked, seeing her as more than just an attack dog/bodyguard, etc. Nope. It's just a "why can't people let Arya be ugly/unconventional looking? :(" post every other week because people are, for whatever reason, obsessed with how Arya is visually perceived. One of the most misinterpreted characters yet the issue is only ever with her being portrayed as "too pretty" or the wrong "type" of pretty. This fandom will entirely rewrite a character's motivations, values, and role in the story to the point that they consider references to canon "hate" but! The true injustice to canon is we acknowledge that she is described as pretty several times. Arya simply existing as her pretty, important, and non-conforming self is too complex and confusing for people to comprehend 😔.
#arya stark#asoiaf#fandom nonsense#how can Arya be considered pretty?! she's literally non-conforming?? being pretty belongs to /feminine/ female characters...right? 😱#I feel like these people tell on themselves with how much they value beauty because they make it /such/ a big deal#when her self-esteem issues regarding being a lady are infinitely more relevant to her story (and more interesting to discuss)#her being mocked for having the Stark look is a supporting story element that also reinforces her being an outcast considering#her mother + all of her trueborn siblings have a southern look and she was raised with southern standards#not to mention her non-conformity and often messy appearance heavily impacted how her looks were perceived#George writes Arya's non-conformity as parallel to traditional femininity so it makes sense that beauty is one of those aspects he subverts#(also why it makes sense that her future includes accepting her identity as a Lady while redefining the role but that's off topic)#this is why you need to look at the writing instead of judging based on the /type/ of character you think Arya is#and! it's truly not that serious 😭 I'm sure it will be a plot point eventually but it's not 98% of her story like these people pretend#Arya is such an interesting + well-written character but we constantly get people rewriting her and nonsense discourse around her looks#such rich material and all you can say is that she's an /odd-looking feral gremlin/ and I'm supposed to take your opinion seriously#at this point the obsession with Arya being /weird/ looking has to be some projection of personal self-esteem issues#there's no way /this/ is the hill you're willing to die on with all the terrible takes about Arya from this fandom#wish people who didn't care about her would just stop bringing her up so we could have our discussions about her in peace

sometimes its really obvious how much people dont actually believe presentation=/=gender when they see their nonbinary friend go from extremely masculine to relaxing back into femininity once theyre comfortable with their gender and every time they call it detransitioning with zero indication thats what their friend is calling it. i dont know how to tell you this but sometimes you present a certain way for social reasons and not because thats how you actually feel. sometimes you experience dysphoria about your body that is actually related to how people view you and not how you feel about your body. i really dont think its that uncommon for trans people to swing really hard in one direction for the affirmation and then relax back into a different presentation once they are more comfortable in their gender
#txt#gekkering#idk how to word this but genuinely if you see your friend growing more comfortable in their body and presentation and assume theyre detransi#tioning without them telling you that you should be ashamed and i hope your friend finds someone who is more accepting of experiences they d#dont personally relate to#butch trans women exist femme trans men exist and very masculine AND very feminine nonbinary people exist#i hated my body most of all when i focused on how other people view me. and before anyone accuses me of anything not that you need to but i#do have other dysphoria but its not NEARLY as severe as when i was younger and was obsessed with how other people gendered me#and if that does still bother you thats okay im not saying people who arent bothered by being misgendered are unreasonable or should get ove#r it or anything#but THATS why sometimes your dysphoria from when you first came out can drastically contradict the way you present later in life#such as transmasc people no longer wanting to bind or transfem people no longer wanting to tuck

this is how people talk about pokemon
#pokemon#im aware it's not malicious or intentional but it's both funny n sad how when you have a non-gendered creature of some sort#95% of the time people default to perceiving masculinity unless the design is actively overtly 'feminine'#also not saying pronouns r gender exclusive obviously but u know what i mean

NO MORE ASSOCIATING THINGS WITH FEMMES ONLY BECAUSE THEY ARE PINK!HYPERFEM FEMMES ARE GREAT AND I LOVE YOU CAMPY FEMMES WHO EMBODY PINK BUT ALSO JESUS CHRIST CAN YOU GUYS NOT GO MORE THAN ONE DAY W/O TRYING TO SHOEHORN FEMMES INTO BEING ONLY PINK UWU BABIES. I AM FEMME AS IN GRASS AS IN DIRT AS IN TREE BARK AS IN WEEDS SPROUTING THROUGH THE SIDEWALK CEMENT. FEMME AS IN GENDER NONCONFORMITY AS IN FUCK YOU MY FEMININITY IS WHAT *I* SAY IT IS. FEMME AS IN DEPTH AND DARKNESS AND WARMTH AND TERROR. FEMME AS IN CAVES. FEMME AS IN LIGHTNING. FEMME AS IN AN AMALGAMATION OF TRAITS THAT I HAVE DECIDED ARE FEMININE REGARDLESS OF WHAT SOCIETY SAYS. FUCK IS IT THAT HARD TO UNDERSTAND?!???
#personal#i am emotional yes#over the years ive had this blog I've made a few posts abt being femme#nd whether they're serious or jokey..... inevitably someone in the tags goes “ohhh yeah bc pink”#or in the case of what inspired this post: someone going “what about the pink ones” on my praying mantis post#and im just.#sick of it. im sick of femme being equated to pink and frilly girlie behaviors.#im sick of femme being equated to skirts and heels. to makeup. to skincare. to pristine nails exactly almond shaped.#im sick of ppl acting like All femmes aspire to this shit. im sick of femms being reduced to this shit.#and i love pink! i love pink! my phone theme is quite literally just black and pink all over.#im just. so tired of any expression of Femme identity being shoehorned into being a Specific type of femininity#especially as someone who DOES get dysphoric wearing skirts. wearing dresses. embodying the femme aesthetic yall are so set on making#if u guys wanna rb this i truly dont care#i just needed to scream#and this is one small thing#but the 2nd largest category of anon hate i have gotten since making this blog is str8 up homophobia from other “queer” folks#saying i cant be femme bc of how i present. calling me slurs (and using them as such) bc they cant understand femme as anything but that#my wife and i have our users in our personal discord server set as 2 different things of anon hate ive gotten#i have had OTHER FEMMES tell me i am not femme. femmes who Know im femme who still call me butch. femmes who ive corrected and been blocked#-by bc of it. the number 1 largest demographic of queerfolk who have me blocked rn is TME femmes who embody pink also#and i dont think its a coincidence at all. why is the idea that trans people (okay let's be honest, usually trans women) enforce and maintain traditional gender roles such a pervasive brainworm on this site?
whether it's "binary trans women just don't understand the intricacies of gender like we do" or "well if you made an egg joke about this hypothetical gender-nonconforming cis person that'd be enforcing gender roles" it's just a sentiment i keep seeing for some fucking reason
why does this keep cropping up
it's so dumb
#juney.txt#i really hate the egg joke thing#how have you people managed to convince yourselves ''you don't have to be a trans woman you can just be a feminine man''#is in any way progressive#like congratulations you're saying the same shit i heard from members of my family when i came out

A three way scale between the extremes of how I usually see artists drawing TFP Starscream! :3
Most TFP Starscream artists fall somewhere in this triangle I think. :>
This was meant to just be a silly sketch but then I got a little TOO silly.
#transformers#starscream#transformers prime#tfp starscream#my art#i think it's safe to say that i usually fall into the hyper-feminine starscream category when i draw them hehe

i’m going to be honest the real enemy is people who saw a grown adult man using feminine speech/mannerisms and were like oh well that means i have to draw him soooo thin and tiny and waifish. obviously
#1. youre taking away his hotness 2. i dont like what that says about your views of even slightly gnc people#3. guys he’s like 40 years old. also he kills people#i say this like it really matters to me when honestly if art does not appeal to me i just ignore it#him being somewhat muscular would at least make sense. his ass is doing backflips#sorry when i say feminine speech/mannerisms. this depends on different translations#and kind of his symbols and his scrapped role as an alternative to maiden. etc#varréposting#more to say here but it doesnt actually matter at all#EDIT yes it does. to me (avoiding doing my job)#like i love to see people playing off of his femininity in fan portrayals like obviously its hot.#i love to see him in pretty clothes i love to see his beautiful long hair i love seeing him portrayed as nurturing and motherly in mannerism#but if you have to reimagine him as tiny thin weak pale hairless . you are going to die

I feel like this fandom is going backwards when people deny luisa is a feminine character. nobody is claiming she’s feminine because of things like crying and having emotions but she quite literally is shown wanting to be feminine in the bridge of surface pressure the part where she talks about what she desires. Also it’s a very conscious choice to make her feminine when you read the art book and see how they wanted to break the stereotype of masculine= muscles. The whole point is luisa wants to be seen as MORE than her gift. She never got to embrace her femininity the way the other madrigal girls did because she’s always working! Why are we trying to make it out to be a bad thing that luisa is feminine? there’s already so many female characters portrayed as masculine for having muscles and encanto is one of the only times they consciously wanted to break that. let luisa wear a twirly skirt and like glitter you cowards
#encanto#encanto disney#disneys encanto#luisa madrigal#encanto luisa#luisa encanto#I’ve seen this take going around for ages on tiktok and it baffles me#because luisa literally is shown wanting to be feminine?#like god forbid girls who are absolutely jacked want to be girly#I feel like people need to rewatch the movie when they say this
