Anyway this is my progress shots for Velox Fabula 2 Game Jam so far! Finished three backgrounds + 3 time variants (day/sunset/night). I also have a few thousand words written so far, as well as the basic in game UI screens (still need to find a font I like + adjust the text alignment)

This is probably all I'm going to post about it until it's finished, but I'm super excited for it!

Maybe in the past, he was like a therapy friend to Wukong, someone he could really be himself with, vent, and tell his secrets without being judged in the safety of his own dreams. Someone he can truly trust, and that was Macaque.

Now he's a therapy friend to the whole MK team! (Against his will) They cuddle, pet, and vent to him with their problems. He's like one of Sandy's therapy cats, just bigger and grumpier.😾💕✨ he just has this way with people I guess

Okay, this is how it starts: Macaque and Wukong's first encounter was in a dream.

Wukong would not shut up about the pretty demon in his crazy dreams, often to his sworn brothers; he talked about all the fun and crazy adventures he'd have, the long meaningful conversations and jokes, and the occasionally moving pictures of otherworldly strong magical humans with sparkly eyes and spiky hair who wield giant weapons that shoots Fire called anime, and that this had been going on for a few months now.

This annoyed and concerned them; they think it's a demon trying to take over the Monkey King's mind or trying to brainwash him somehow, so Azure Lion and the Sworn Brothers all brainstormed together to devise a plan to somehow confront this tricky dream demon. Wukong doesn't want the fun dreams to end or scare off this other celestial monkey, so he decides to talk to his friend in his dreams. Wukong casually brings up the idea that the macaque should visit Flower Fruit and meet his sworn brothers! Macaque of course hesitates, not sure of the idea of traveling to an unknown island and meeting The Monkey King's questionable choice of sworn brothers, but of course, Wukong, sad and a bit offended, but he doesn't give up.

He decides to bring upon the Ultimate Weapon, begging and whining until Macaque crumbles and gives in, which eventually does. Mac reluctantly agrees to travel over to FFM in disguise, just to be safe he tells Wukong he'll be there. Within a month, Wukong couldn't be more excited; he was like a little kid waiting for Christmas day!

So this is what kinds of powers I think he should have.

😴 the first pic is crossing over to other people's dreams and making their experience life-like he has illusion magic so this makes sense to me. Wukong and macaque would prank the Brotherhood or play tags and hide and seek in their brother's dreams. 🌸The second pic is the soothing ability to calm one's nerves if they pet or cuddle him like a therapy cat,🐈 Wukong would groom him for hours to calm his nerves. now come copes with food🍑🍔🍭

At the end of every dream Mac visits they would end it by dancing to music Mac would bring from the future laughing and stumbling while wukong slowly wakes up, wukong has always gone to bed early But now he goes even earlier to bed. Wukong always thought he was the luckiest monkey in the world he gets to have two Adventure and one of them is with his prettiest best friend Macaque 😚✨the monkey of his dreams.

favorite motogp rivalry not involving any of the aliens ?

you know, the fact that this is so tough shows just how inescapable they've been in the sport. still, I'll give it a shot

you can go several directions here - either stick to the present, or go for stuff this century that's more in the background, or go way way back. I'm reasonably fond of that eighties early nineties period and the varied rivalries they produced between all the anglos... you know, spencer, gardner, lawson, rainey, schwantz, doohan, that lot... (admittedly some haven't massively endeared themselves to me with their post-retirement punditry, but it is ever thus with athletes.) couldn't do that justice here but a few quickfire thoughts

lawson and gardner is one of those fun ones where you have two completely different blokes competing who just fundamentally Did Not Get Each Other at all. gardner was cocky, forthright, brash, whereas lawson was far more reserved, cool-headed, cerebral... and, of course, they didn't didn't just understand each other, they also didn't like each other at all. infamously gardner was not exactly thrilled when his long time rival was signed for honda (gardner's manufacturer) and gardner had to find out by reading the papers

also they shot this safety ad together and apparently didn't speak to each other the entire time, even though they were in close proximity for hours. don't you just desperately want to recreate this with certain riders, hm

anyway, of course there's also rainey and schwantz, probably the one everyone knows... as ever, important they didn't get on and hated to lose each other

all culminated in the dramatic 1993 season, with schwantz determined that it would finally be his year... and it's a classic season, one hears (even if one is unable to judge for oneself), but a title fight with a sad twist when a collision between the two of them at misano ends rainey's career while handing schwantz his only 500cc title. in the end, it also ended schwantz's career, who retired at the end of 1994. of course dorna promised they'd never go to misano again, which they stuck to for a full fourteen years

then again, arguably the vibes were a bit too good back then between riders, like what's all this then (from schwantz)

actually, I suppose none of those were technically 'motogp' rivalries, but. same difference. there's a few in the years after... I do find the whole 1998 250cc season deeply compelling, but it also would feel like cheating because what makes the harada/capirossi thing so fun is that valentino is there acting as the third man. very much the dynamics between all three of them that are so great. plenty of spats in the years after that, but something like dovi/iannone is more just good fun than a proper 'rivalry'. you do generally need some proper development for a real rivalry, and the aliens just monopolise so much attention this century. so you do basically have to fast forward to... well, the last few years, where the most notable ones have been pecco/fabio and pecco/jorge martin

now I do like pecco/fabio conceptually - it's interesting to have this rivalry between two guys who were being moulded into being the marc challengers by their respective manufacturers and then to have had marc suddenly disappear on them. the way it suddenly thrust fabio into the spotlight, how it put all these expectations and pressures on him and essentially made him title favourite overnight... vs how pecco is the closest motogp has had to a dominant force in the post prime!marc era and is constantly uneasily grappling with that legacy. you've got all this uncertainty and insecurity and asterisks and the shadow cast by the greats (who haven't even had the decency to go away completely), the weight of those legacies... also, two kinda funny title fights, if odd ones (especially '22 lol). main problem is that their wildly contrasting fortunes whenever they were title rivals mean they've managed to avoid actually fighting each other on-track. insanely frustrating and the real asterisk for this rivalry

pecco/martin has been strong stuff, yeah. super contrasting personalities, such visibly different riding styles, and considerably more material when it comes to on-track battles than pecco/fabio (still more work to be done though). that intra-manufacturer arc has been fun to follow, this stand-off between ducati's golden boy and the challenger with the eternal underdog mindset. both have a tendency to feel like the world's against them (which is a trait many riders share, sports is such a wonderful breeding ground for victimisation complexes), both are so incredibly unreliable. both rather volatile in their own ways, both battling their own insecurities. also, it doesn't hurt that they've got a bit of shared history as teammates back in the day. would've been interesting to see them as teammates in motogp, curious how jorge reacts to this latest twist... the needle between them has been fun, especially the silly valencia stuff, though I wouldn't mind some more openly hostilities between the pair of them - and I do feel like marc's reemergence has inevitably ensured the two of them are paying less attention to each other. even martin's grand big fuck ducati thing is now more about being rejected in favour of marc than about pecco getting preferential treatment. still, they've got time, could give us plenty more to work with

which is my favourite of those? I don't know... the tricky thing about the older rivalries is that I believe very strongly in evaluating rivalries by actually watching their competitive output and there's only so much of them I can watch. I guess by process of elimination it's currently pecco/martin? for a hot second there I suppose pecco/bez looked like it could be quite interesting, but they didn't really fight for the title and remained friendly so. whatever. it'd be nice if everyone else picked up the slack some time soon

woooo my niece took 5 of my 13 lego sets, one of which was one of the three larger ones, so that's one huge box out of the way and i'm just glad she wanted them because like they ARE twenty years old and they look fine ofc but sometimes kids aren't gonna want stuff that isn't new and shiny ya know, but she did seem to want everything which would've been fine with me but i knew there was no way they would take all that with them, and at least i still have stuff of my own to sell, plus should get at least a cut of my brother's stuff for doing the inventory and putting together that stuff that wasn't already done

Long Overdue Update

Hey everyone, Gabe here.

So yeah, this isn't going to be a surprising update by any means, as it seems a good number of my mutuals have gone down the same road with their FiM characters but I'm officially announcing the archiving of this blog.

To give a bit of context for anyone still following, sorry for the long radio silence first off. I've thought about the friends I've made here and the good times with this very indulgent and canon divergent take on Sombra a lot, even as I've spent the past few "dormant" years figuring things out for myself. I'm still not necessarily in the best place or at least not where I'd like to be but I'm trying to get better about communication and keeping up with people without feeling like I'm bothering them or "need to have a reason" to keep up.

So yeah. If any mutual who's reading this is interested in keeping in touch, I'm available on Discord! As for the future, I'm actually thinking of coming back to Tumblr RP with a RWBY OC centric blog, once I have enough assets put together to make that happen, after being inspired by some mutuals and other talented writers I've seen from a distance.

Thank you all for the incredible journey and for helping me bring this iteration of an underappreciated character to life. Maybe there'll be a time or a place to revisit this take but for now, thank you all for being a part of the ride.

Oshi No Ko Chapter 142 – My Thoughts/Analysis

We start off the chapter by dealing with the reactions of the peanut gallery to the coming kiss scene. This is strange to me: Normally when the manga frames side characters reacting or infodumping it’s in the middle or later parts of the chapter. Just a thought.

Miyako having mixed feelings makes sense given she’s basically their surrogate mother. I’m reminded of that scene that happened in the earlier stages of the manga where Ruby pretended to be the embodiment of Amaterasu springs to mind again. If she put two and two together and assumed that Aqua and Ruby were incarnations of Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu respectively, then it makes sense that she’d feel conflicted since she might still be under the impression that her kids are actually gods. And considering what Crow Girl said to Aqua in ch127, there might be some merit to that.

Kana’s faces as she continually takes L’s is so on brand for her, I hope we get more of them during the inevitable kiss scene. Ditto if we also see Akane react to some of these Kanafaces.

Memcho being based as always. We stan. I would talk a bit here about how Memcho and Kana are two sides of the fandom, but I think that was made obvious after ch124.

And now we have Ruby with a star in one eye and a whole host of stars in the other eye. The power scaling fans are going to have a field day with this one. It’s a set of eyes that would easily surpass Kana’s fake galaxy eyes!

Poking fun at that aside, it’s also curious to hear that Kaburagi namedrop. Now, this could just be a white lie from Ruby, but if it is true, then that leaves the door open to some interesting implications since we see him dining with Hikaru in a previous chapter. Now what would Hikaru have to gain by having Ruby kiss Aqua like this…

It’s also good to see confirmation that much of the movie’s scenes between Ai and Hikaru was a fabrication. It’s a question that was plaguing people for a right bit—it’s good to see that we’ve got solid evidence there one way or another. Though…the fact that we’re getting hints through Kana that Hikaru and Ai were influenced by Aqua and Ruby themselves is a bit of a strange addition, especially since Ruby wasn’t casted as Ai when the script was being made—assuming that the script hasn’t changed since then. Not quite sure how to parse this, especially since it’s coming from Kana’s perspective—there’s already some confirmation bias involved now that we know who’s attached to these roles.

The scene shifts to Aqua visiting Abiko and Yoriko. 

I am quite curious as to whether or not this scene and the next one happen in sequential order. While on the surface it appears to happen chronologically, there’s enough wiggle room and doubt throughout this scene that makes me question where it takes place in the timeline.

Why is it relevant where this scene takes place in the overall sequence of events? Mostly because in a previous chapter we hear from Aqua that he’s asked Yoriko and Abiko for advice for writing the script and I’m wondering if this is that meeting. There’s the typical flashback transition that shows up in between both scenes, so we already know it’s happened in the past. The question therefore, is when, because the timing of said scene has implications on Aqua and Ruby’s relationship and the movie going forward, especially when one takes ch123 into account.

Moving back onto the scene itself, since Aqua doesn’t know the specifics about Ai and Hikaru’s relationship, he’s been forced to improvise by asking the mangakas on how to write a suitable romance. 

This part where Aqua asks the mangakas if he can have the kiss on the cheek instead of the lips is quite hilarious when one considers the context—as well as the timing of this entire scene in particular. If it happened before the script was finalized, then Ruby hadn’t been casted as Ai just yet. If it happened chronologically as it was shown in the manga, then he’s hesitant to kiss his sister. 

And because this manga can be so very anal with its timeline, both interpretations hold true unless Aka goes out of his way to confirm or deny when this scene happened in the first place. It wouldn’t be the first time that we’ve seen this manga slot in a scene that happened in the past without telling us when exactly this flashback occurred in the first place.

The scene where both authors decry Aqua’s lack of responsibility for the script is also very important to the story in general. 

I’ve seen some people online say that this scene is pretty tone-deaf considering Ai and Hikaru’s backstory and how the industry took advantage of them. On principle I’d agree with that conclusion, if it wasn’t for the fact that Aqua’s role in creating this movie is the farthest thing from Ai and Hikaru’s situation when they first entered the industry.

Yoriko says it best just before she gives the line that many people hyperfocus on and take so heavily out of context. “As a writer, you’re trying to uncover people’s secrets and make money off of it.” And of course to get his revenge, but we as the reader should already know that.

Without Aqua, this movie wouldn’t have been made in the first place. He isn’t a passive observer here, he is making a conscious effort to attempt to dredge up memories long buried and fictionalize them in an attempt to twist the knife against Hikaru. It’s not much better than Kaburagi taking advantage of Kana during her acting dry spell or the LoveNow producer throwing Akane to the dogs for entertainment.

It’s a brutal and public attempt to attain vengeance for Ai. You have to wonder how much of this is actually going to help Aqua. If he wanted Hikaru to merely die, he would’ve shanked him or let Akane do the deed herself. It’s likely that even after his revenge scheme is finished, he’ll have to deal with his own psyche considering how he acted after he thought his father was originally dead. Even without revenge guiding him, the man still has issues galore. I wouldn’t want to be his therapist, lemme tell you. 

The next few sentences from Abiko and Yoriko are just as thought provoking. Every scene where the mangakas get their time to shine is always a treat, especially when the words they’re saying and the words they really mean differ beyond the surface. 

“Stories are things that can kill even people. That’s why those who make stories are required to take responsibility for each and every letter. We must always be aware of those who could get hurt by our stories. And we, who continue to write regardless, must not forget our responsibilities.”

It’s interesting how these lines make one consider just who is being hurt by these stories. My first answer to who is being hurt by this story is Hikaru, of course, but that feels much too easy. Ai, perhaps? Those DVDs still haunt me. Aqua himself? Also possible, but the manga’s been hiding his thoughts from us for ages, so it’s only speculation. 

Not to mention what other kinds of responsibilities that the mangakas are referring to that Aqua shares. The DVDs once again loom over so much that is unwritten, and so does Hikaru. Whatever the case, I’m sure that we’ll be getting some sort of callback or answer to this question posed by the mangakas later down the line.

And now we get to the main crux of the chapter. A short conversation between our protagonists. 

There’s no sugarcoating it—there’s a lot happening in this scene.

We start with Aqua on a balcony, mumbling to himself about “his responsibility”. The way the scene is framed pushes the Reader to the idea that Aqua is remembering the previous scene with the two mangaka artists. Let’s shelve the question of timeline for now and get back to the scene itself.

Ruby sucking on a popsicle while talking to Aqua. I’ve seen enough doujins and artworks to know where this is going. 

A mention of the kissing scene tomorrow in-universe, with Aqua sweating at the thought of it. He mentions that the kissing scene is also his responsibility—which makes sense considering he’d had a part in the script in the first place. This entire movie wouldn’t be possible without him, so he has to commit to it. 

This next sequence of dialogue is so very loaded with things hanging between them. Aqua saying that he sees Ruby as his sister—notable for the fact that he’s already mentioned in the earlier chapters that the line between Goro and Aqua is blurring. Oh, and if there’s still anyone that still huffs up that Goro=/=Aqua cope, then I suggest you take a course on reading comprehension if you can even read this in the first place.

It’s interesting that Ruby is the one who proposes that they see each other as they were in their past lives. Whether or not she sees Aqua as Aqua or as Goro is an open question at the moment, but it’s clear that she definitely wants him on some level. This girl was more than fine with more than a 30 year age gap so a little incest doesn’t faze her in the slightest. Considering that Aqua/Goro’s been her main motivation for living and becoming an idol, I’m more than surprised that people hadn’t seen this route as a potential avenue and endgame. Bad reading comprehension strikes again, I suppose.

Again Aqua brushes off what might be a very intimate moment with Ruby, but this time, our FMC isn’t going to let it slide, going directly for Aqua with a question hanging between the lines. 

And it ends with a shot of Ruby without her signature star eyes. There’s a lot of things I could say about that, but it gets into star eyes analysis territory, and this isn’t the time or place for that. 

It’s make or break time for them. We’re going to get A Response next chapter, that's for sure. The hammer’s going to fall, and with it, half of the fandom’s going to be crushed underfoot.

I will say though that I don’t think we’re going to get an easy response. It just doesn’t fit with how the manga has been framing this arc. We still haven’t gotten a good look into Aqua’s headspace since 123 happened, and there are an absurd number of fans taking bets on what his response is going to be in the next chapter. Considering the next chapter’s coming out on White Day, well. I shan’t say more. Place your bets on how many people threaten to leave after the next chapter drops.

Moving back to speculation, I would not be surprised if, for the majority of the next chapter, we’ll cut away and see someone—maybe Hikaru, or Crow Girl, or Akane—else and see what he’s up to, only to cut back to Aqua and Ruby at the end of the chapter for Aqua’s response. 

I would also not be surprised if the chapter ended with an implication that they had intercourse. I would love to see the kind of copium people would snort if we got something like that.

All in all, this was a brilliant chapter to start off a two week break. Really cooking the fandom alive before pulling the trigger.
