So all the dream eaters are Chirithy's wrapped around the sleeping hearts of the dandelions waiting to be awakened, and we know dream eaters are connected to regular people outside of the realm of sleep, the spirits consume nightmare and the nightmares consume good dreams of people, Riku becomes Sora's dream eater ect, and Chirithys are connected to people aswell, each being given to and assigned to a keykid (? daybreak townie? child soldier-) by Mom/the foretellers, and last but not least Kairi is connected to chirithy in some way, having chirithy ears on her kh3 outfit hood and all

But theres a connection were forgetting, Ventus Of the unique dream eaters we know of, we have Riku: Sora's dream eater, Chirithy: the first dream eaters, the boss nightmares, Nightmare Chirithy: both the purple version and the fused with Darkling version, the Anti Black Coat (i hate that name lmao): the physical manifestation of Sora's nightmare And Armoured Ventus Nightmare Ventus unconsciously wrapped his armour around Sora's sleeping heart to protect it, taking on the darkness and thus a nightmare form in the process, Ventus wraps himself around the sleeping Sora to protect him until he could be awoken, exactly like how the Chirithy's saved the Dandelions If Riku is Sora's Dream Eater then Ventus is his Chirithy Bonus design overanalyzing:

Ventus' colour is green, his wayfinder is green, his armour is green, his heart station is green, his colour on the trio heart station is green

But Ventus himself isn't very green until bbs, specifically the only green on his outfit is the keyblade armour

His colours line up more with Chirithys colour palette, curiously it is majority Spirit Chirithy's but i would say the black undershirt and specifically the red inside of his jacket actually remind me of Nightmare Chirithy's red cape underside, he may be majority light but darkness was lurking beneath him from the very beginning, becoming so intertwined with him that he gave that formless shadow a body and a mind

Jiaoqiu's voice drifts in and out of your awareness, his words meant to comfort or distract, but they fall on deaf ears.

Jiaoqiu: "... and that's why we need to address the situation carefully. It's crucial we..."

You don't respond, your eyes vacant, your steps dragging. Jiaoqiu eventually notices your silence and halts, turning to see you lost in thought.

You continue walking mechanically, only to stumble upon an ornate, solitary mirror hanging on the wall. The mirror's frame is old and intricately carved, casting long shadows in the dim light. It stands out in the otherwise plain corridor, almost as if it's there to capture a piece of the lingering sadness.

You approach the mirror, feeling an unsettling pull towards it. With a shaky hand, you remove your mask, revealing the true extent of your anguish. The reflection staring back at you is haunting. Your eyes and mouth appear to be sewn shut, the stitches crude and painfully evident. They symbolize the silencing of your pain, a cruel representation of how you've been forced to suppress your emotions and suffer in silence.

Tears brim in your eyes as you study the grotesque image before you. The mirror's surface begins to distort as you notice the stitches on your reflection twitch and writhe. The once-sewn eyes and mouth strain against their constraints, attempting to open, as if desperate to scream out the suffering you've been holding in for so long.

A gut-wrenching scream escapes your lips, echoing through the corridor. The sound is raw, a culmination of all the pain and frustration that has been bottled up inside you. In a moment of sheer desperation, you lash out, your hand crashing into the mirror. The glass shatters, falling to the ground in a chaotic cascade of fragments.

The sound of breaking glass fills the air, mingling with your ragged breaths. You sink to your knees, surrounded by the shards of the mirror, each piece reflecting a fragmented version of your grief-stricken face. The corridor feels colder now, the oppressive weight of your internal struggle manifesting in the scattered remnants of the mirror.

Jiaoqiu rushes to your side, his face a mix of concern and helplessness. He kneels beside you, trying to offer comfort, but his words are drowned out by the echo of your anguished scream and the jagged pieces of glass that now litter the floor.

The shards of the broken mirror glistened around you, Jiaoqiu's stern face became a backdrop to your internal chaos. His hands steadied you, pulling you away from the wreckage. He avoided your gaze, his demeanor somber and focused.

"We need to get ready," Jiaoqiu said, his voice clipped. "We're heading to Shackling Prison."

You stared at him, confusion and a growing dread mingling in your eyes. The name of the place sounded foreboding, and you could feel your heart pounding in your chest.

"Shackling Prison?" you asked, your voice barely above a whisper. "Why are we going there?"

Jiaoqiu's eyes shifted away from you, his expression turning hard and resolute. He seemed to wrestle with his words, finally settling on a single name that chilled you to the bone.

"There's someone we need to see," he said, his tone carrying a grave undertone. "Hoolay."

The name itself was like a specter rising from the depths of your darkest nightmares. The mere mention of Hoolay filled you with a cold fear, but also ignited a fierce resolve within you. You could feel an intense urge to confront this monster, to seek justice or vengeance for past wrongs.

You closed your eyes, trying to steady the storm of emotions raging inside you. The thought of facing Hoolay was almost unbearable, yet you knew it was something you had to do.

"I'm ready," you finally said, your voice steadying as you opened your eyes.

Jiaoqiu took a step closer, his concern evident despite the rigid façade he maintained. He looked at you with a mixture of apprehension and worry.

"Are you sure you're okay?" he asked, his voice softening.

You met his gaze with a smile that was anything but reassuring. It was a twisted, eerie grin, reflecting the chaos and despair that lurked beneath the surface. Your smile didn't quite reach your eyes, which remained distant and haunted.

"Yes, I'm fine," you replied, your voice calm but with an unsettling edge.

The group arrived at the imposing structure of Shackling Prison, the atmosphere was thick with tension. The prison's eerie, underwater ambiance contrasted starkly with the floating skies of the Yaoqing. The walls seemed to pulse with a dark energy, hinting at the secrets and sorrows locked within. Trailblazer's gaze swept over the scene, noticing Jiaoqiu and Moze conversing in the distance. Jiaoqiu's eyes briefly met Trailblazer's before he looked away, clearly engrossed in his conversation.

You walked with a heavy heart, each step feeling like a march toward an inevitable confrontation. The thought of facing Hoolay stirred a violent storm within you, and you struggled to suppress the fierce desire to make him pay.

Moze's voice cut through the silence. "What are you looking at?"

Jiaoqiu glanced at him and replied, "The Shackling Prison on the Luofu is completely different from the one on the Yaoqing. It's entirely underwater."

Moze's eyes gleamed with a glint of mischief. "Whether it's in the clouds or underwater, breaking free would still be a piece of cake for me."

Jiaoqiu's lips twitched in a faint smile. "You're still thinking about your old jailbreak tricks, huh? Forget it. You're free now. Just don't do anything stupid, or the judges will throw you back in there and lock you up for a few hundred years."

Moze shrugged nonchalantly. "You'll see me again in just a few days."

Jiaoqiu nodded, his tone serious. "Taking Hoolay back to the Yaoqing means a lot to the foxians on the ship and to General Feixiao herself. So, stay alert."

At that moment, a figure approached, introducing herself with a respectful nod. "Guests, my name is Xueyi, and I'm here on orders from the Incarceration Division of the Ten-Lords Commission."

Jiaoqiu greeted her with a nod. "We're Jiaoqiu and Moze. General Feixiao sent us to extradite the borisin criminal Hoolay to the Yaoqing. We're here to inspect the conditions of his imprisonment and make preparations for the handover and transportation. I assume you've been briefed, your honor?"

Xueyi nodded, her gaze shifting to you with a curious glance. "Yes, your visit request has been approved. I'll be your guide for this trip. May I ask who you are?"

Without waiting for an answer, Xueyi reached out and gently removed your mask. The sudden exposure to the cold, clinical environment of the prison was jarring. Xueyi's eyes widened in surprise as she scrutinized your face, her expression turning from curiosity to concern.

"Wait a moment," Xueyi said, checking her notes and frowning in confusion. "I didn't find anyone who looked like you among the wanted criminals. Yet, I feel like I have seen your face in one of the most wanted list..? I'm sorry."

You felt a pang of realization. The name you had been dreading to confront might have been removed from the records. 

Jiaoqiu noticed your twitchy behavior and motioned for you to take his hand. His eyes, though stern, held a glimmer of reassurance. "It seems there might have been a mistake. Let's proceed."

Jiaoqiu's hand clasped yours, you felt a fleeting sense of relief but also a deepened unease. The realization that Jing Yuan might have intervened in a way you hadn't anticipated left you unsettled.

Moze, noticing the shift in your demeanor, looked at you with growing concern. His sharp eyes were fixed on you, clearly troubled by your nervousness.

"Are you alright?" Moze's voice was low, filled with genuine worry.

You took a deep breath, nodding shakily. "Yes, I'm fine. Just... a bit overwhelmed."

Trying to lighten the mood, Moze added a few lines. with. dead voice. "So, did you used to be a criminal or something? Because you're giving off some seriously nervous vibes."

You glanced at him, trying to gauge his seriousness. "And what about you, Moze? Any criminal past I should know about?"

Moze's expression went blank for a moment, and he didn't respond. His silence spoke volumes.

Xueyi, trying to maintain professionalism despite the tension, interrupted. "Let's focus on our task. We still need to inspect the conditions of Hoolay's imprisonment and ensure everything is in order for the handover."

The group entered the grim depths of Shackling Prison, the atmosphere grew increasingly oppressive. Xueyi began to speak, his voice echoing off the cold, metal walls.

"Prisoner Hoolay, the Warhead and Brood Lord of the borisin Abominations of Abundance, and the arch-nemesis of the foxians, is responsible for 2,123 wars of aggression and countless associated crimes." Xueyi's tone was both solemn and stern. "Due to his heinous acts, he has been imprisoned in the depths of The Shackling Prison and subjected to the punishment of the Forest of Swords until the end of time. He shall never be pardoned..."

Jiaoqiu, looking slightly impatient, interjected. "No need to repeat his crimes and sentence, your honor. He is the greatest enemy of us foxians. The stories of his atrocities are used to terrify our children. I'm well aware of every crime he's committed. Let's move on to the next step."

Xueyi nodded, seemingly accustomed to the gravity of the situation. "When it comes to visiting criminals, there are rules in place to ensure your safety. I know you've heard legends about Hoolay since you were children, but your knowledge about him is likely very limited. Only the judges of the Ten-Lords Commission truly know what kind of abomination is locked up at the bottom of The Shackling Prison."

You listened intently, the weight of Xueyi's words sinking in. The sheer scope of Hoolay's crimes made your skin crawl..

You wanted to kill this Monster..

"It has been centuries since Jingliu, the former Sword Champion of the Luofu, captured Hoolay. And during all those years, we never provided him with any food. Yet he's somehow managed to stay alive. It defies all the documented physical characteristics of the borisin." Xueyi's expression was one of perplexity mingled with concern.

You felt a chill run down your spine as Xueyi described the Forest of Swords—a device of intense torment used to execute sinful abominations. "Most borisin die within three days in the Forest, but Hoolay is different. Every time the blades pierce him, his body instantly heals. Despite the brutal punishment, he somehow manages to survive."

Moze, who had been silent until now, couldn't help but comment on the situation. "Sounds like this guy has more lives than a cat. That's some impressive, if horrifying, resilience."

Jiaoqiu gave Moze a sharp look before turning back to Xueyi. "I apologize for any offense caused... Please continue, your honor."

Xueyi nodded, his focus returning to the task at hand. "I've given you the instructions regarding Hoolay's visitation. Please make sure you read them carefully."

 Xueyi handed over the documentation, you found yourself lost in thought. The idea of facing Hoolay, knowing his capacity for enduring torment and his monstrous nature, was almost too much to bear. You turned to Jiaoqiu, seeking some reassurance. "Is there anything specific we should be aware of when we meet him?"

Jiaoqiu's face was grim. "Just be prepared for anything. Hoolay is not like any other prisoner you've encountered. His very presence can be unnerving."

The air in the Shackling Prison grew heavier as Xueyi elaborated on Hoolay's unnatural resilience. You couldn't help but interject, your voice cold and distant. "The healing that allows him to endure the Forest of Swords... it sounds like it was a painfully gifted power."

Xueyi's gaze shifted slightly, his expression unfaltering. "Actually, it wasn't just any gift. It was bestowed by our goddess."

Your eyes twitched involuntarily. "Which goddess?"

"The Goddess of Betrayal," Xueyi replied, his tone even and factual.

The name struck you like a jolt of ice. Your heart raced, and paranoia began to take hold. "When did she gift him?"

Xueyi seemed taken aback by your reaction but maintained his composure. "It's a long-standing matter. Hoolay's power comes from that divine gift."

Jiaoqiu, observing your sudden shift in demeanor, leaned closer and whispered, "You seem tense. Didn't you do it?"

Your grip on Jiaoqiu tightened as your thoughts spiraled. You looked into his eyes, your voice trembling as you whispered back, "I never gifted him anything. I would never help that monster." The mere thought of aiding someone like Hoolay made you feel sick to your stomach.

Confusion and dread churned inside you. "Why would she say it like that?" you wondered aloud.

Jiaoqiu, sensing your distress, maintained a steady presence. "You seem agitated. Are you sure you didn't..."

Before Jiaoqiu could finish, you shook your head vehemently, a mix of fear and revulsion on your face. "I swear, I never did. I wanted to vomit just thinking about it."

Jiaoqiu's expression softened with concern as he gently held the back of your head. "But weren't you... their goddess?"

The question hung in the air, causing your mind to whirl in confusion. "Who?" you asked, feeling like the ground was shifting beneath you.

"This second (long Covid) round table was very interesting, lasting three and a half hours. It serves as a unique forum for dialogue among scientists, researchers and those affected by long Covid, facilitating the exchange of ideas.

There are many new findings about long Covid. Not all of them are good news. One piece of not-so-good news concerns the fact that long Covid is actually still a problem for those who are newly infected. One estimate that has been put forward is that the risk of contracting long Covid now, even after vaccination, is around 3%. Now you may say, "that's not such a big risk" , but there are tens of thousands of people who are repeatedly affected in a short period of time. And so, the long Covid problem has not yet been solved.

We have also established that there really are many subgroups of long Covid and that we do not yet have a cure. And it was clearly pointed out that we are also dealing with problems here that will challenge society as a whole, because vascular diseases often occur after long Covid. Throughout Europe, we are currently seeing an increased incidence of cardiovascular disease in the middle-age group - from 25 to 50. This is associated with the consequences of Covid infections.

We also very often find cognitive impairment in older people. And one participant pointed out that it may well be like the Spanish flu, where 20 years after the Spanish flu there was a significant increase in Parkinson's disease and probably also dementia.

This is something we must pay attention to, as the past infection afiects how the immune system in the brain functions, as well as the brain's blood vessels, potentially increasing the long-term risk of these major neurodegenerative diseases. This is why we need to conduct very intensive research. This research has played a major role.

What is the overall assessment of the situation now?

We have to be careful. Long Covid is not curable at the moment. We also know that over 40% of those who have several manifestations of long Covid, for example, five or more, still have symptoms after 2 years, so it doesn't seem to heal spontaneously. We also know that those whose symptoms are more pronounced at the beginning are less likely to heal.

So some of what we know from the demographics of long Covid has been confirmed, and we now know more precisely which mechanisms in the brain, but also in the blood vessels and the immune system, are responsible for this. Professor Scheibenbogan will explain this briefly later.

At this point, I can only say the following - this is particularly important to me:

First of all, long Covid is a disease that stays with us and that we cannot yet cure. And we are seeing an increasing number of cases as the waves of infection continue to affect us.

Secondly, Covid is not a cold - with a cold, you don't usually see any long-term effects. You don't see any changes in the blood vessels. You don't usually see an autoimmune disease developing. You also don't usually see neurological inflammation - these are all things that we see with long Covid. Therefore, one should not assume that Covid infection is just a common cold. It can affect brain tissue and the vascular system, and we still lack an effective treatment, making these studies crucial.

Significantly, we know that the risk of long Covid decreases when you're infected but have been vaccinated. That's why it's concerning that only 3 million people have been vaccinated with the new, adapted vaccine. That is a very bad result.

Please protect yourself from severe infections.

Please protect yourself from long Covid.

Currently, the danger posed by Covid is indeed being underestimated. Nothing is worse than infecting someone at Christmas who then becomes seriously ill and may not fully recover."

the first time it happens, it’s a mistake — a brief moment of vindictiveness manifest in the way he whines and nuzzles into your neck before opening his mouth and sinking his teeth into your skin. when you gasp, your head tipping back, kenma pauses, pulling back, his mind already cataloging this very interesting new piece of information for later use, but his eyes have yet to catch up — his body has yet to catch up with the sight of you, cheeks pink, lips parted, eyes slightly glazed over as you stare ruefully up at him, a hand coming up to press over your mouth as you frown.

“w-what was that for?”

kenma hums, sitting back with a pout, “you were the one being unfair.”

you scowl, “how was i being unfair? you lost the game fair and square — the stakes were loser does the dishes.”

kenma sniffs, his nose crinkling at the thought, “but we have a dishwasher — it’s literally in the name —”

“but the nice wine glasses can’t be put through the dishwasher!”

you push yourself up onto your elbows even as kenma slumps back on the sofa, groaning loudly. still, he lets his head slump to one side to stare at the rapidly darkening patch of skin at the junction of your neck and shoulders. there’s something that feels dangerously like desire calcifying in the pit of his stomach and he weighs the pros and cons of leaning forward to give you another good bite.

really, dinner was great, dessert was better but — this.

suddenly, he understands what his teammates had always meant when they’d said they could keep on eating forever, even when their stomachs were full to bursting, even when they thought they’d be ill.

“stupid wine glasses…” he murmurs, leaning forward to prop his chin on your shoulder. you laugh, a soft, breathy thing as you reach out to tug a strand of hair from his low, messy bun.

“but the wine was good, no?”

kenma hums, letting his head loll back and forth, his eyes flickering down once more to the round ring of red now rising against your skin. he allows himself a tiny grin, leaning forward to press a kiss over the tender flesh. he makes note of the way you gasp, soft and expectant, the way your body seems to tense and then go laxed beneath his hands.

“yeah…” he whispers, smirking as he sinks delicate fingers into your hair, gently shifting your head to one side to allow him more access, “guess it was good…”

he presses another kiss to your neck, just slightly below the reddening hickey.

“g-guess? that was — a-an expensive bottle…”

“hmmm…” kenma trails his lips down over your shoulder, tugging lightly at your shirt, the wide collar falling away easily. when he finds yet another patch of unmarred skin, grazing his teeth over it, he feels the way you reach up to fist your fingers in his hair.

“’zume… don’t think you can get out of doing the dishes like this…”

kenma laughs, letting his breath puff out against your skin seconds before he opens his mouth and takes another soft bite. he doesn’t miss the way you whimper this time, doesn’t mistake the hitch in your breath for something like surprise when he knows better — and he knows you best of all.

“not trying to get out of doing it… just… we never specified when the loser has to do the dishes so…” he licks his lips, glancing up at you with a bright, devilish flicker behind his eyes, “i’m just taking my time with the meal. nothing wrong with that, right?”

it is a normal thing, for you to wake up in the morning and find remnants of the night before scattered across your skin like sand dollars littered upon a stretch of beloved beach. and tsukishima is never apologetic — ever.

if anything, he looks upon his work with pride, smirking as you tug at the collar of your shirt, tutting.

“tsukki… i told you not to bite so hard…”

“hmm… sorry, i must’ve forgotten,” he props a cheek on his hand, peering at you over his glasses, his tone the farthest thing from apologetic, “heat of the moment and all.”

you shoot him a reproachful look in the mirror and watch as his grin widens ever so slightly.

“the girls are the museum are gonna have a field day with this.”

tsukishima shrugs, slumping back into the bed with a loud, long sigh.

you tug listlessly at the collar of your button up shirt, resigned to the fact that you’ll never be able to hide the marks properly as you heave another sigh.

“it’s just how we communicate — it’s like… how guys sometimes just need to like… punch it out — or whatever.”

“or whatever?” tsukishima almost chortles, rolling over onto his stomach again. your schedules at the museum only overlap 2 days a week, and the rest of the days, either he’s off or you are. it’s a miracle the pair of you were able to meet in the first place, let alone hit it off like you did.

“yeah. i don’t know how guys communicate,” you say, even as tsukishima swings out of bed to come up behind you, looping his arms around your middle.

“we… don’t, really,” he admits, in a customary deadpan, propping his chin on the top of your head with obscene ease. you frown up at him, tilting your head back till it hits the middle of his chest.

“you’re gonna make me late again.”

“so?”

“so — unless you want me to get fired —”

“they’re not gonna fire you. you’re too good at… cataloging maps, or whatever it is you guys do in the cartography department.”

tsukishima spins you around his arms, pressing you lightly back against the mirror. he considers you for a moment, with eyes just sharp enough to pass for academic interest, but you see the darkness misting its depths, the pressure in his fingertips as he leans in to seal his lips over yours in a kiss that could only be called searing.

you break away gasping, only to feel his lips trail fire down your neck seconds before —

“t-tsukki — !”

he pulls back with a satisfied smirk; you can feel yet another bruise blooming along your skin.

“there. one more thing for you and your girlfriends to bond over, hm?”

kageyama.

it is a deliberate thing, the first time. but kageyama remembers the strange gravity, the tug just behind his navel, the persistent itch of curiosity as he leans forward to sink his teeth into your skin.

he likes the way you hiss, the way you go soft in his arms, the pair of you already a pile of tangled limbs on the massive sectional in the living room, the lights dimmed, half a bottle of red wine yet un-drunk on the coffee table.

“tobio… what —”

he hums, burying his face in your shoulder, fingers digging into your sides.

“… something i wanted to try…”

“hm?” you gently card your fingers through his hair, quirking your head to one side.

“it’s just —” he pulls back, a deep blush prickling his cheeks as he looks anywhere but at you, “something… i’ve wanted to try. for — a while,” he admits, looking shockingly small for a internationally renowned volleyball player, hunched over on the couch like this, his lips stained dark with wine.

you giggle, leaning up to tilt his chin back towards yours.

“sure. you can try whatever you want.”

you lay back, stretching out beneath him, pliant and willing, and kageyama goes still for a solid four seconds before he narrows his eyes, an un-namable hunger clawing at his insides as he pulls you beneath him and groans into your skin.

he likes the way the colors seep the surface of your skin, likes the way it’s so obvious against the bright of your collarbones. he spends all of the following day in an intoxicatingly good mood, to the point where his teammates are understandable suspicious. but he just tells them he slept well, that he had a good dinner last night, that wine was really, really delicious.

“mmm —” he whines sucking a deep hickey into the junction of your neck, his pupils blown wide as he pulls back, lips split into a too-pleased grin, “what is it? did i hurt you?”

there’s the barest hint of a tease in his voice, and anyone else might’ve thought he’s completely serious, that he’s actually worried. and in a sense, he is — he’d never want to actually hurt you. but he also knows that — to a certain degree, you revel in this kind of pain.

you chew on your bottom lip, shaking your head.

“no… it’s — it’s okay.”

“yeah?” he sounds entirely too happy with himself as he reaches forward to thumb at the damp spot on your skin, “ah… that one’ll be pretty. just like you!”

he laughs, his joy so pure and infectious that it makes you blush. you look away.

“shou…?”

“hm? what is it, pretty girl?”

he bends back down to press a light kiss to your collarbone, peaking up at you with those would-be innocent eyes.

“don’t… don’t tease me.”

hinata laughs, that self-same, joyous sound.

“but i like teasing you!” he says, with no hint of malice, not a single sliver of shame.

you can only cover your eyes with your arm, turning your head away.

“aww, don’t do that —” he says, coaxing your hand away before pinning both of them above your head with a single, fluid move. your breath hitches.

“don’t hide from me…”

it’s too much to hope for that someone with eyes like his would miss such a thing. you watch as the dark, lightless centers of his eyes grow ever so slightly larger, threatening to overtake the honeyed ring of his actual iris.

“can’t… can’t help it…” you look away, feeling the waves of indomitable heat, wave after wave, washing through you, collecting at the base of your stomach to twist into something deeper, something harder.

“can’t help what, hm?” hinata laces your fingers with his; distinctly, you can feel his thighs flex on either side of your legs, locking you in place. the summers are hot in rio, but you can’t help but wonder if more than half the heat in the room might be coming from the pair of you alone.

all around him, the air wavers like a reflection in pond-water —

“shou… just —” you lick your lips.

“ah…” there’s a soft whine curling at the edge of his voice as he leans down, “you’re not playing fair at all…”

desire pulses like a heartbeat inside you.

“shouyou, please,” you beg, trying to wrest some semblance of control back from him but he’s having none of it. he pins your hands to either side of your head, his bed more than wide enough for the pair of you, with room to spare.

“mah… you gotta be a bit more specific than that,” he says, his voice almost casual as he noses into your pulse point right beneath your jaw. you hold your breath and a second later, the harsh sting of his teeth rakes through you, chasing pleasure down your spine.

“m-more —” you choke out the word against the heat of his lips and you feel rather than see him grin above you.

“yeah? i think i can do that for you.”

hi welcome back to leanne rewatches deadpool & wolverine and goes insane about every single detail in this movie. in this edition: how logan's clothes reflect the trajectory of his character

1. the suit—inside

so we start off with the scene in the bar where logan appears to be wearing what we're used to seeing him wear. flannels, leather jackets. his outfit and even the setting is not at all unfamiliar for him. but, as we later find out, he was wearing the suit underneath all those layers the whole time.

during his talk with laura, he reveals that he wears the suit to remember those he'd lost, and as a reminder of what he'd done. he's had the suit on permanently for god knows how long, hidden under his clothes. at this point he bears the suit like a cross, suffering in silence under the guise of normalcy, yet sacrificing what's left of his identity by reducing himself to what the suit represents; by taking all the jabs and nasty looks people throw at him that he thinks he's too deserving of to combat.

2. the suit—outside

after wade pulls him out, he has the suit on display for quite a while. on one hand, it shows the fight that's in him now as a contrast to his passivity in his own world. on the other hand, it's also a sort of vulnerability: what that suit stands for and by extension what he himself is is now laid bare to the world. out in the open for people to question. maybe that fight that's in him now stems precisely from this vulnerability.

this vulnerability is both good and bad for him: it causes him to lash out at the questions from wade that he's not ready to answer. it also leads him to open up to laura and finally speak about what happened—who knows if he's ever said any of it out loud before. fun! even with just the suit, we're already seeing some development.

and THIS is where it gets interesting.

3. the white shirt—his mind

the first time we truly see him without the suit is when cassandra nova looks into his mind. i've been going back and forth on whether this is logan's own manifestation of himself or if it's cassandra's, and i still don't know. i think the distinction does matter, but in the end what it conveys is the same.

firstly, another layer of vulnerability again. he's already on his knees for cassandra, submissive—now in his mind he's also stripped as bare as he can be (i think we all know white shirts can sometimes leave little to the imagination). cassandra looks at him and says "you're hiding ... from all the ones you let down." how interesting is that?? if we go all the way back to the first scene, he hides his suit under normal clothes. and he hides this version of him in his mind even further underneath all of that.

secondly and as an extension of that point, white symbolises purity. cleanliness. even a promise of new beginnings. let's tackle this from the two possible perspectives.

if this is logan's manifestation of himself, it would be so intriguing that this is how he appears. maybe it means that despite it all, there's some good in him. maybe it means that deep, deep down, past all the shame and the guilt and the grief, there's still a part of his mind where he can just be.

on the other hand, the white could also symbolise a second chance—like i said, a promise of new beginnings. i made a post about this scene here, but the basic point is that cassandra is offering him something that no one else may ever be able to offer him. a chance to fully be himself, to silence the voices. the white is such a stunning visual representation of what she is saying logan could be if he stays with her. which makes it even more poignant that he doesn't.

4. the time ripper

after this scene, he's in the suit again, necessarily. but then! BUT THEN!!!!! the time ripper!!! y'all need to understand the significance of this scene in all its nuances FR! here you can look at his abs again:
