Hello, TOH fandom, I am here once again to talk about accessibility!

Image descriptions, like the one I just used above, are exactly what it says on the tin: descriptions of the content of an image included to make the image maximally accessible.

Blind and low-vision people who use screen readers, people who rely on increased font size in-app or in-browser to read text, and neurodivergent people who have trouble interpreting elements of an image (for example, expression) all benefit from image descriptions.

And all images on the internet should be accessible regardless of topic, of course, but I've recently been trying to spread awareness in the context of The Owl House specifically because it's a show with multiple disabled and/or neurodivergent characters! In fact, Principal Bump is canonically low-vision with a service animal to help him in that regard — and I'd argue that making content about disabled characters accessible is extra, extra important!

I know it's within this fandom's ability to make our posts about the finale as accessible as possible — and I know that because I've already seen a decent increase in described posts over the course of Season 3! I've seen more artist-described posts especially, which means a lot to me, and even more to a lot of other people, too <3

So, on that note, how to write an image description? It may seem intimidating, especially if describing someone else's post or fanart, but honestly, there's no definitive "rubric" to follow, just a list of general guidelines:

Indicate where the description starts and ends, with "end description" or "end ID".

Place the description immediately under the image, not under a read-more (this allows people who rely on IDs to experience the post the same way anyone else would, whereas read-mores are inconvenient, especially if OP changes their URL)

Minimize caps lock, italics, bold, and strikethrough, which can be hard to read and/or troublesome for screen readers. Generally, it's just best to transcribe in lowercase without particular effects, then indicate in the transcription if something is emphasized.

Likewise, don't put descriptions in Tumblr's special small text. It's difficult to read and inaccessible to many.

Don't make jokes or add commentary in IDs. If an image is meant to be humorous, obviously it's fine to phrase things in a way that tries to capture that, but it's not the place to add your own jokes, nor is it the place to declare subjective qualities like "this art is beautiful".

Descriptions can vary in length, but if one is getting long (if you're describing a comic, for example), then be sure to break it up with paragraph breaks.

Specifically, while I've heard that too many breaks (ie, every sentence) are annoying for some screen readers, long walls of text are conversely difficult for people with visual processing problems to parse. So, it's good to strike a balance.

With regards to length and amount of detail, it varies by personal preference! Most images don't need a whole small essay, but there's also value in describing certain small and symbolic details, subjective as it is.

Speaking of which, if you're the original artist, then you are automatically the expert on what you wanted the image to convey — the nuances of expression and body language, which details are important and which details are not — and for that reason, I love seeing artist-described works!

Below the cut: more on describing Owl House images specifically, on IDs versus alt text, and other possible questions!

When I transcribe TOH related posts, there's a few other guidelines I use, though these rules aren't as immediately important as the ones above. I generally start by indicating the type of image we're dealing with (a screenshot? fanart? a photo of a cosplay?), then mention what characters are depicted.

Unless I'm describing something long, like a comic, and relying on summarization, I usually mention which character designs we're dealing with (is Lilith in her dramatic black dress from Season 1? or is she in her low-battery shirt?). If it's fanart and the artist has come up with original outfits to put the characters in, I'll summarize those too.

(This is the other reason I love seeing artist-described works: because I, personally, am just kinda bad at describing fashion lol.)

Now, I'd like to go over some other questions that I've either encountered before, or anticipate:

What about alt text? Doesn't that accomplish the same purpose as image descriptions?

In a lot of senses, yes, so alt text is certainly much, much better than no description! However, remember that not every person relying on descriptions is necessarily someone who uses a screen reader every day, or uses a screen reader period. Some people do in fact read the descriptions themselves.

As you can see above, alt text takes an extra click (or tap) to access. In general, it's also prone to displaying walls of text, and — as far as I know — sometimes just doesn't show up if the Tumblr app isn't updated enough. (Not to mention that, in my opinion, making image descriptions visible to people who don't use them is an important part of spreading accessibility awareness in the first place!)

On the other hand, I've heard some people who benefit from descriptions say they actually prefer alt text, so I'm not going to come out and take a hard "absolutely no alt text ever under any circumstances" stance by any means. But, long story short, this is the reason that in my own posts, I almost always defer to in-post descriptions — the only exception might be if I'm writing a meta post, and functionally describing the images in the text anyway.

I've seen that sometimes you use [ ] brackets and sometimes you don't. Is there a reason?

Basically personal preference. I use brackets in posts like this when I have a lot of non-description writing, and want to make it extra clear where the description ends and the non-description begins. If I'm just captioning some fanart in a reblog and not adding any commentary, on the other hand, I leave off brackets because they're pretty redundant.

I'm nervous about describing images, but I still want to help make the fandom more accessible. Is there anything I can do?

Well, my first piece of advice would be to start small! Hell, start with just making sure you include a description whenever you post an image with just text, like a screenshot of a reply or someone's prev tags. You can build up little-by-little from there!

(My personal accessibility journey went from describing only tweet screenshots whose text I could just copy, to describing simple memes like cat pics, to deciding it was important to at least describe fanart of disabled characters like Eda, to finally describing almost every post I reblog. Trying to make that jump without any of the intermediate steps would've been overwhelming, but at this point, it all feels natural to me.)

But secondly, I would encourage showing some love to artists who describe their pieces! Queue up some described fanart, especially artist-described stuff, and help normalize it!

Get into the habit of checking the notes for descriptions (go to reblogs and filter by comments only) before you share! If someone describes your art, copy it into the original post, so the version of the thread reblogged directly from you will be accessible too! (And if you want to make some little tweaks, no one will be offended.)

You can also look into making your blog theme accessible, such as making sure the font size is large enough (and ideally sans serif, for readability). And if you feel more confident with describing audio, then writing transcripts of audio is always incredible as well, to help out those who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have auditory processing disorders!

I've heard that AI is able to describe images for screen readers pretty well these days. Are descriptions still important/going to remain important as the technology advances?

Well, let me say first that I'm very glad this technology exists, for sure! But I'm of the opinion that human described (and especially artist described) captions are, at least generally speaking, still going to be the gold standard for the foreseeable future — AI doesn't have the context we do for our art and our fandoms; it's much less likely than a fan of the show to pick up on what's an important or symbolic detail.

Are there actually people who need image descriptions in cartoon fandoms? I mean, the source material has such a visual component!

First off, blind and low vision people do in fact watch things like TV, movies, and plays — ever notice the "audio description" option to add narration to a given show in a streaming service? That's there to provide basically the real-time equivalent of image descriptions.

And, second, I'll leave you with this — don't you think a lot more disabled people would participate in fandom if fandom were more accessible and accommodating to disabled people in the first place?

"Go to your room!" The Square says sharply, unaware of the deeper shadow hovering above him as the lower edge of a green sphere appears at the top of the camera.

"But Grandpa--!" the little Hexagon tries to argue again, while the green sphere alights next to them.

"Excuse me." Says the Sphere.

"Aah!" Shout both the Square and the little Hexagon, moving away from the sound.

The Square moves to shield the little Hexagon as they back away into the corner, while the Square shouts, "Who said that?! Who's there?"

"I said it.", says the Sphere, beginning to move down into Flatland. The Square and Hexagon move further into the corner.

The Sphere, now halfway through Flatland, and surrounded by a black circle, says simply, "I am here."

"! A Circle?!" the Square exclaims, and the little Hexagon begins to move out of the corner as the Square continues, "Oh, my Lord, forgive me, I did not--"

"I am not a Circle, I am a Sphere." The Sphere interrupts.

"Woah!!" The little Hexagon exclaims, now fully out from behind the Square. He begins to run toward the Sphere, and his grandfather tries to catch him, shouting, "Wait! You can't just run up to--!"

"Hi! I've never met a Circle before!" The little Hexagon says when he is standing directly next to the Sphere, "You're really big!"

His grandfather huries to push him backwards by catching him on one of his edges and turning, admonishing him, "Give the Priest some space! You can't just run at people like that! You could hurt someone!"

The Square places the little Hexagon back away from the Sphere, continuing, "I know you're still getting used to leaving the nursery, but your points are sharp now, you have to be careful!"

He then says to the Sphere, "My Lord, please forgive my impertinent Grandson, he's only been out of the nursery for a week now, and it seems his Configuration still needs some time to settle..."

The Sphere says, "There's nothing to forgive, he did nothing wrong."

"Thank you, my Lord." The Square says. Next to him, the little Hexagon is once again moving past him to see the Sphere again.

"You should be the one apologizing to him!" The Sphere says, with the words you, and him underlined for emphasis.

"I--my Lord?" The Square stumbles over his words in confusion. The little Hexagon stares at the Sphere.

"Yes," The Sphere says, "He spoke the truth and you accused him of playing games!"

"I did?" Asks the little Hexagon in surprise.

"He...did?" Asks the Square, then tries to add, "But my Lord..."

"But nothing!" Says the Sphere, "Little Hexagon, come here."

The little Hexagon approaches the Sphere and asks, "Yes, sir?"

The Sphere says, "You are very bright for a LDM, so I will tell you the words you were asking your ignorant grandfather to tell you earlier."

Under his breath, the Square repeats, "LDM...?" in confusion.

The little Hexagon asks, "So I was right? The next step is to move a Square?"

"Yes." The Sphere says, then explains, "The direction you need to move the square is called 'Up', or 'Down'. You only exist in two dimensions, so you can't see these directions, but if you try, you can imagine them.

"The shape created by moving a Square either Up or Down, and connecting the points, is called a Cube."

"Woah!" says the little Hexagon. "What if you move a Hexagon Upordown?" He imagines the words "up or down" as a single word from mishearing it.

"Then you get what we call a Hexagonal Prism." Says the Sphere. "Do you want me to describe it to you?"

"Yes!!!" shouts the little Hexagon.

Under his breath, the Square mutters to himself, "This Priest has gone mad..."

"I heard that, Square. I already told you I'm not a Circle. Now hush." Says the Sphere.

The little Hexagon, not hearing, looks at his grandfather in confusion, who backs away from the Sphere in alarm.

The little Hexagon turns back to the Sphere as they say, "Anyways, a Hexagonal Prism is..." A Pause. A thoughtful, "Hmm."

"What?" Asks the little Hexagon.

"Well, how about instead of telling you, I show you?" asks the Sphere.

"Yeah!!!" shouts the little Hexagon excitedly.

Suddenly a voice comes from the open doorway, saying, "Excuse me everyone, I'm entering the studyroom! Don't be alarmed, it's just me!"

A Straight Line begins to enter the room, and the little Hexagon greets her with, "Hi Grandma! Come meet my friend!"

"Oh?" Says the Straight Line, entering the room fully and looking at the Sphere, "Who's this? You didn't tell me we had company, Raymond!"

The Square says, "Well, I didn't know we did either, dear..."

"He's gonna show me what a Hexagonal Prism looks like!" The little Hexagon tells his grandmother excitedly.

"Actually," says the Sphere, "My pronouns are they/them."

"Oh! Like my sibling!" the little Hexagon says as his grandmother moves closer to the Sphere, standing between the little Hexagon and his grandfather.

The Square rotates to try and look at the little Hexagon, exclaiming in shock, "Like who?!?!?!"

"Oh, he's just being silly, Raymond, you know how kids are, hahahahahaha...." The Straight Line says, turning to look at him while laughing nervously.

"Well, anyways." The Sphere says, "Who wants to see a higher dimension and expand their minds beyond everything you ever thought you knew?"

"Meeee!" volunteers the little Hexagon, then his grandmother adds, "Oh, I'd love to get out of the house for the holiday!"

"Wait, wait, I didn't give permission--" the Square starts to protest.

"Your wife doesn't need your permission to do anything, and she can give permission for your grandson just as much as you can." The Sphere says.

"Yay!" says the little Hexagon.

The Straight Line says, "Oh, you're so sweet!", then, "Let's go!"

"Alright, give me a moment to push you off your plane..." The Sphere says.

Then they begin to sink through the other side of Flatland, making them seem smaller as they pass through. The Square exclaims, "He's shrinking!"

The little Hexagon runs toward the disappearing Sphere to investigate while the Straight Line turns to her husband to correct him, "They, not he."

"What language are you speaking" says the Square. The Sphere is almost on the other side of Flatland, with only a little green circle left visible.

"I'll tell you when we get back." Says the Straight Line to her husband.

From seemingly nowhere, the Sphere's voice says, "Alright, you two, stand next to eachother and don't be alarmed. I'm going to pull you in a new direction. It'll feel weird, but it won't hurt."

The Straight Line moves forward a little and calls to her grandson, "Come here, Barnaby."

"Yes, Grandma!" he says, and moves to her side.

"Ready?" asks the Sphere, still invisible.

"Ready!" The Straight Line and little Hexagon confirm.

"I didn't agree to any of this!" protests the Square.

"Don't worry," says the Sphere, "You're not going."

Then, "Actually. Hold on."

The Sphere starts to reappear, saying, "You look exactly the same from above and below, so let me put some color on your upper side so I don't put your back upsidedown."

The Sphere quickly lifts out of Flatland again and hovers above the Straight Line and little Hexagon, while the Square demands, "Where did he go?"

The Sphere moves away from the two again, and says, "There, that should do it.". Both the Straight Line and her grandson are now colored cyan, with black text reading, "This side up".

"But you didn't do anything." The Square says.

The Sphere begins to sink back into Flatland again, and the little Hexagon asks, "What happened?"

"Don't worry, I'll remove it when I bring you back." Says the Sphere just before disappearing again.

The Square says, "Remove what? You didn't do anything!" then yelps, "What the--"

The Sphere is now below the Straight Line and the little Hexagon, making them slightly larger as they are pushed towards the camera.

The Sphere moves further towards the camera, brining the two Flatlanders with them, while the Square shouts in horror, "You ate them?!?! Jemima! Barnaby! What kind of monster are you???"

But the Sphere ignores him as they fly towards the camera, almost filling the screen, while the two Flatlanders they're carrying say, "Whee!!!" in enjoyment.

The Sphere flies directly through the camera, so that for a few seconds we see their insides, like a glitching computer game, with mostly black, and random squiggles of dark colors for intestines.

When the Sphere is past the camera, we see the Square now alone in the room, shouting, "They're gone! They're gone! They just disappeared into thin air!"

He runs for the door, shouting to himself, "I've got to report this to--someone!"

In moments he is out the door, and the room is completely empty.

After a beat, large text reading, "The End...or The Beginning of an alternate timeline [smiley emoticon]". appears. Then the word "Bye" in all caps, with extra Es on the end.

It's especially interested how bad the Minecraft movie feels when you compare it to other video game movies nowadays.

Like. For example, the Mario movie in concept was simple. Adapt the basic structure of what a Mario platformer is (person gets kidnapped and Mario saves them) with Mario's alternate backstory of being from Brooklyn as an excuse to make him an easier viewpoint character. And Super Mario is THE video game franchise so it's an easy money grab.

Except they didn't make an easy money grab. They made a kid's movie that respected the kids who play the games, they made references to the games and incorporated them into the movie in a way that enhanced the story, and they did this while still understanding the spirit of the franchise.

Mario and DK being rivals but still coming together to fight a greater evil. The Bros.' relationship being the emotional core of the movie. Bowser being portrayed perfectly as a goofy yet still threatening villain. They even incorporated Mario Kart into the story without it feeling tacked on. They took the world of Mario seriously and treated it with respect - they made a world that's goofy and charming but still lived-in, without making it edgy or "realistic" just to "appeal" to adults.

Most people apologising to Minecraft Story Mode are probably doing it as a joke, but like. They already understood this and worked through it. Even in the first game which features a grand adventure, the adventurers are people from the world of Minecraft, and the epic invasion was a horror unleashed by accident, like the Wither it's based on.

Later episodes and seasons play more into the inherent fantastical elements of Minecraft, with the Far Lands and the End as eldritch, alien places. They also reference the community aspects of Minecraft: power-hungry server admins, fan-created games like Spleef, fantastical redstone contraptions, even the Minecraft YouTuber murder mystery.

And even being a movie instead of an episodic game isn't an automatic death sentence - hell, if you really wanted to stick to the base game of Minecraft, you could showcase the joy of exploration that is a much more common and more core experience than big epic boss fights.

That moment in the trailer, where there's a log floating in the broken tree and the boy reaches out for it? The one at the start where they're looking around at the world and the camera lets us see the surroundings? Those are great moments, because that's how it feels to play Minecraft. I've seen and heard kids play the game, I know that's still how they experience it. If you're going to make it into an epic, make it into an epic journey and show off the world. The vistas we've seen do genuinely look gorgeous, like someone transplanted

Even the visual design plays into this. The weirdly realistic mobs Detective Pikachu/Sonic style do not work. Detective Pikachu still looks uncanny to me, but the world of Pokémon is meant to be similar to the human world, and Pokémon are meant to be animals. The world of Sonic is Earth, and the redone design for Sonic and the other animal characters is beautiful; it really does feel like Sonic exists in a world overlaid on ours, more fantastical but still in reach.

The Minecraft movie trying to have its blocky cake and eat it too just feels like a shoddy compromise. The wolf howling at the moon doesn't look epic or awe-inspiring, it looks bad - in fact it's not even on model. They deliberately made it look blockier, for some reason. The invading piglins have realistic armour, and clothes, but their bodies are desperately trying to fit the voxel shapes and it all feels at odds. And of course the pink sheep and llama look god awful.

Combined with the human characters being Regular Humans, it feels more like some random friend group making a home movie than a fucking big budget production - and honestly, it loses some of the fun and appeal of portal fantasy.

I will say, it does look like they will visit the Nether at some point.

Given they're shooting for the "marauding piglin" angle it's probably too much to ask, but the scene cuts away at this point instead of transitioning into that standard shot where all the mobs roar at the main character, so part of me is hoping that maybe this scene won't be at the climax, and we'll get to actually experience the piglins as nuanced mobs.

If I had the power to become a Disney bitch that can just remake one of their classics because that's what Disney does these days, id remake Aladdin.

It'd still be animated and the goal would be a consistent style trilogy (without the sudden and sharp drop in animation quality preferably please god).

Completely scrapping the 'return of Jafar' plot line, I'd make the second movie in the trilogy about exploring the ramifications of aladdin's wish. He did not wish to *look* like a prince, he wished to BE a prince. Somewhere out there aladdin is the prince of some country or city or something and I would love to explore that as a technicality to aladdin and jasmine trying to get married. Especially if perhaps that kingdom is NOT on good terms with agrabah. They're trying to get all the arrangements done and theres a big joke about paperwork and getting the prince-requirment law squared away and then bam, the "well actually-" comes from genie and the rest of the movie is about exploring this new territory of aladdin. Who is marrying into Royalty and Politics, actually having to deal with some of that.

And then at the end of the movie, when all of that is sorted out, genie drops the second "well actually-" that aladdin was always sort of a prince anyway. Just not the inherited of any kind of land. You see, al, buddy, your dad's a king of thieves.

Movie three is that the wedding is once, again, delayed. Because now we have to deal with the fuckin ramifications of "what the fuck do you mean I'm the son of a famous criminal?" And the revelation that genie actually knows aladdin's parents. Movie three includes returning to the Magic Treasure Hoard where aladdin initially gets the lamp- "only One May Enter Here" being that aladdins father (deceased) left the cave as a sort of will of his treasure trove, a bounty worthy of a King Of Thieves. Including the most valuable artifact of the trove, the Genie In The Lamp, the most valuable treasure that was responsible for aladdin's fathers success as the king of thieves in the first place. We see some stories of Genie and Aladdins father- from rags to riches via crime, maybe the love story of aladdin's parents, (maybe some hints to why genie says "i dont like doing it" as to being able to bring back the dead rather than outright "i cant do it") and plausibly that the genie and aladdins father made the same deal, I'll use my two wishes and then free you, but (possibly following that failed attempt to bring back the dead as in trying to bring back aladdin's dead mother shortly after aladdin is born?) In the grief of that failure aladdin's father decides to use his last wish (possibly to arrange the Cave of Wonders for his sons inheritance or something) and ultimately betrays genies trust.

The whole big damb deal where Aladdin and Jasmines partnership is weighted against the genies freedom is so stupid when you consider. Aladdin could have just fucking handed the lamp to Jasmine? 3 more wishes. They solve the whole thing in movie one. Jasmine gets the lamp, makes a wish that Jafar will never escape the cave of wonders, wishes that there were bo laws restricting her personal freedoms any more than anyone else (marry who she wants AND go to the market) and then a third wish that argrbah under her rule will know ages of peace and tranquility. Then she hands that damb lamp back to Aladdin, Aladdin wishes the genie free, big happy celebration fireworks scene. (They do the heart to heart thing where they say they'll miss eachother after genie cuts himself off from talking about seeing the world. Obviously. That still needs to happen. SOME INFO ABOUT ME

I have autism, selective mutism, and some other issues that aren't really important. Point is that sometimes it can be hard for me to talk or properly put my thoughts into words. This makes me come across as cold sometimes. I'm not good at communicating with words and I'm better at expressing it in person where I can rely more on touch. I grew up in Alice Springs and spend most of my time in the NT. On the first Friday of the month there's a good chance you can find me at the Daly Waters Pub. CU in the NT! (Not now though because I'm stuck in America for the foreseeable future. Oops. Try me again in 2025!)

I hunt professionally for pest control. Usually it's invasive animals like pigs, cats, or feral dogs. I'm also licenced to occasionally deal with nuisance native wildlife like crocodiles, but aside from assisting in relocation efforts I've yet to be called out for a crocodile. I'm alright with this—I really don't want to shoot a crocodile.

I also hunt to feed myself and my dog. Her name is Misty and she's an Australian Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix. You can see her here or by checking out my "mistyposting" tag.

I used to participate in kangaroo culls and by law I have to shoot them in the head so if you ever want to know what it's like to pop skulls, reckon you can ask me. Also on the kangaroo thing: if you're Australian and from 2020-2021 ate kangaroo or bought kangaroo dog food or leather, there's a chance I'm the one what got it to you.

I'm a bushie. This means I'm a survivalist who lives out in the bush. I technically live in a van (ute + camper in the tray) but if there's good weather I'm usually sleeping outside unless it's an area with a lot of dingos (they don't usually bother people but I'm not going to take risks with my dog). I have no permanent residence and I move from place to place for work. Occasionally I have to go into cities for work (I'm looking at you, M*lbourne) but these are thankfully rare occasions and only when I'm strapped for cash.

Sometimes while clearing a squatter's land I'll find Psilocybe mushrooms and take them back home and get high when I'm done working. It makes for an interesting experience and my favourite thing to do is lay on the top of my van and watch the stars for a while.

I have a mullet and I am awful proud of it. It's easy upkeep since I can cut it using the mirror of my van.

I've drank my own piss on more than one occasion. The first time was because I was dying of dehydration out in the bush and it kept me alive for 2 days until I found water. The second time was for science. Certified Piss Kink Guy. (Editor's note: I do not in fact have a piss kink.)

I am Ameristralian. I was born in the US and came to Australia when I was 2 years old—both of my parents are American but my parents lived in Australia for work. I grew up in Australia but when my parents split Dad went back home to California to buy back my grandfather's station and I spent most of my high school years in California (years 10-12) and lost my accent. I now live in Australia with a very thick American accent so I get the "lost tourist" spiel a lot and I reckon I'm never going to stop having to prove I'm Australian. Personality: I'd like to think I'm sweet - if not a little awkward especially when in the process of getting to know somebody since normally I'm hesitant to even really approach people. Same thing w/ my insecurities (personality, looks, interactions, etc) I don't normally like vocalizing them to anybody until after I've known them for like a few months at least and even then I have a tendency to either underplay it or just joke about it which tends to rub some people the wrong way when I do it.

I also can't read people or verbal cues at all - God forbid trying to flirt, it took me several months to figure out somebody liked me when they were trying to flirt with me, nor am I very good with my, or others emotions but I at least try to make an effort when they need comfort. I also have a bad tendency to be really forgetful/clumsy, frequently forgetting where I put various things or missing things in literal plain sight or just stumbling for no real reason or tripping on my feet. (Not that I mind anymore I've fallen enough times it's just a habit to get back up) ^^'

I have really (but weirdly spontaneous) times where I start overthinking things that have already passed by (like weeks have passed??) and I tend to get oddly emotional about it.

I also have a weird situation where I'm aware I'm not feeling and I don't know how to act when others get emotional- not that I don't want to help or anything- I just genuinely have no idea how to process emotion or how to hold onto my emotions for more than a few minutes no matter how strong it was/is, I have no idea if that's apathy?? Looks/Offtopic (although I'm not sure this is important??): I have dark brown eyes (although the pigment is closer to black) and the same for my hair, my hair is cut short (neck length) and is decently fluffy and disappointingly I'm stuck at 5'1. I'm a huge fan of animals and a complete pushover when it comes to them and as a hobby I play the violin or write little stories (that I probably forget about), I also love cuddling and typically can't fall asleep without a pillow being my cuddle buddy or somebody else, big spoon, little spoon, doesn't not matter - I just love cuddles.

See, my brother & I -unused to anime aside from Pokemon- thought we should root for only Main Character TM, but soon after jumped on our faves. Mai & Kaiba for me. He stuck with Yugi more to annoy me, & Joey as the blonde underdog in green (like himself; & this smelly green soccer jersey he never changed or washed cuz it was his "Joey shirt" 🤮).

So for me, it personally always felt skeevy to ship my faves with my brother's faves.

I started getting over it once Joey became obsessed with Mai in Waking the Dragons, but the little-brother-protector thing id with Kaiba was still stronger. Plus my brother spent the season annoyed with Joey's pining & hating Mai for her betrayal, so that helped disconnect them there.

I struggle with a bit of social awkwardness, but I really try my best to be friendly or polite when Im approached - if a bit strained out of nervousness. Once the ice is broken, Im much more lighthearted, and like to spend time and joke around with the generally few people I find myself close to. Im often the "Straight Man" or "Tsukkomi" of my friend group. Speaking of my friends, I love them all very dearly- we all get along well and dont tend to argue, not nearly as much as the years past, anyway. I think my personality truly comes out most when Im with them. alrighty fellas thoughts on the fnaf movie under the cut

its everything i wanted!! such a love letter to the fans too without coming off as too much. i was rly worried it was gonna be too egregious with the fanservice. the story went and did its own thing but it preserved the basic story beats as well as making it coherent and i appreciate that a lot

i know ppl will be disappointed mike is not an afton but i like that. the connection to william was obvious but i still enjoyed it (tho i feel its a bit shoehorn-y but oh well. aint the first time a story has asked me to just accept a story beat). also i just love his characterization? totally my fav archetypes of 'good guy but hes a bit of an asshole' and 'good older brother'

the afton reveal we did get was so obvious that i discarded it in my 'trying to figure out vanessa' thinking but it worked. kinda sad tho this not only did 'afton kid fights against dad' better than the games but also just made vanessa more interesting than sb did

the animated intro was delightful and one of the things where you can tell they did their research

almost missed the matpat cameo bc he rly just looked like A Guy, mad at how natural it was (not rly, im glad it wasn't very egregious)

was very startled by the girl getting chomped, i was so sure the trailers were setting her up to get her head chomped but nope! get bisected

the animatronics were uncanny but in a good way! uncanny bc they look like theyve been pulled straight from the game files but like. theyre real. they move!

on that note, the lighter scenes with them delighted me so. i told a friend i rly hoped they would really lean into the tragedy of the children and it did not disappoint. i see ppl didnt like them but i think theyre important both to show theyre just kids as well as making the violence afterwards even scarier

golden freddy was…. suspiciously underused

id say william was too but no. it was the right amount of william afton. any more and he'd be running away with the whole movie

the climax was exactly as i expected but still surprised me. in fact i straight up forgot about the most iconic line in the series and was SO excited when it dropped

what can i say but I was so excited abt the credits song. it felt too fanservicey to actually happen but yet….

I wish i could go back to 2013 and show this to my younger self

obvious move for next movie is 2 but i honestly think its gonna be 3 with flashbacks to 2. the sequel hook was too damn obvious and tantalizing to fans to not get Right to it. also the 'COME FIND ME' in the credits works with this idea

…that being said, using the puppet's music box in the credits. maybe its the puppet that we need to come find

who exactly is william afton in this universe? i think its going with modern canon and that he was a owner/co-owner of the pizzeria. the way he talked about the owner being sentimental? felt like he was sharing a private joke with himself
