#i think a lot of ppl just go. shes annoyed with esti. she hates esti. she doesnt want to parent esti. but theres more to it imo. #also possibly another level #is that she wants esti to room with the other girls so she cant rely purely on her spanish #and will have to practise her english which lupe wants her to do for the same above reasons #and for her own safety in the US (op's tags)
i actually think the main reason as to why lupe was annoyed at the idea of rooming with esti again on the bus is because so far the entire season shes been ostracised and not had the chance to connect with the other girls and when we see everyone that night theyre all getting to know eachother on a deeper connection which shes missing out on

I don’t know if I have it in me to write a decent enough AU right now, but the phrase “EMS Jess” has entered my brain and refuses to leave. Picturing Esti dragging Lupe to a concert or festival, and Lupe slips/falls/gets caught in the wrong way that absolutely fucks with her old elbow injury. She tries to hide/push through the pain, but it’s not only quite painful but also pretty panic-inducing in terms of her career as a ball player. So she goes to the EMS tent with hopes of ice or a sling or honestly just some reassurance from a medical professional. But soon after she gets there, every thought about in her head about her injury gets overshadowed by the blonde butch paramedic who Lupe is pretty sure is flirting with her
Lupe leaves with ice and a sling but disappointingly no number or plans to see her again. But she knows very well about professional boundaries so she’s not surprised, just preoccupied by the thoughts of crossing paths again in a more neutral environment
Towards the end of the night, Lupe goes to smoke, and Jess approaches her, bag of ice in hand. “Thought maybe you could use a refill.”
Lupe raises an eyebrow. “You give all your patients such good follow up care?”
Jess laughs. “No, nah, not usually. Usually we hope we never see our patients again, you know, for their wellbeing.”
“Ah right,” Lupe says between drags. “But there are unusual circumstances?”
“Sure,” Jess smirks with a teasing lilt in her voice. “If Fire gets called for someone’s cat stuck in a tree, we might follow up to make sure the family didn’t suffer catastrophic injury from all the stress. Or to see if they need a number for a good vet.”
“I see.” Lupe nods slowly. “Well, thankfully there’s no catastrophic injury here, but you know, come to think of it, there might be a number I need.”
Jess grins. “Oh yeah? That’s great news because the vet has really been pushing for more referrals.”
Lupe groans and rolls her eyes, but Jess is already pulling out her phone and handing it to Lupe to put in her number. “First drink’s on me for the bad joke.”
“Oh absolutely, at least the first two.”
Jess chuckles. “Fair enough.”
Lupe hands the phone back. “But I’ll get the one after that as a thank you for the luxury of fresh ice and a generous follow up.”
“Deal.” Jess bumps Lupe’s shoulder lightly. “Well, I gotta go help wrap things up, but” - she throws Lupe a wink - “See you soon, Lu.”

Times Jess and Lupe were definitely flirting and nobody can convince me they weren't
1. "How many times were you on a sinking boat? Tell me about each one", said with full intention to listen to your totally platonic friend talking about each. And every. One. Oh, are you gonna ask her to tell you about her life? About meaningful things that happened to her? Are you trying to get her to talk even if you know it was probably just an expression? Are you gonna ask follow up questions because having a normal conversation is hard because she's so pretty you forgot how to talk like a human being but you just can't bare the thought of not hearing her talk anymore? Also want to point out that when Joe and Flo are talking she tells her she was nearly eaten by 3 species of reptiles and Flo asks if she wants to tell her about it while they play darts. These lesbians get me and my social awkwardness "please talk at me I love it I'm just awkward so let's say we're doing it so I know you're not just gonna be disappointed and turn quiet and leave"
2. "So what are you, a pitcher?" please tell me you're gay and I can imagine us doing things. Oh, you don't get the question? It's fine, it was just a simple thing. I can definitely talk around you. I'm not nervous. Let's just go back to smoking.
3. Lupe's face after Jess smacked her hat against the wall like "she's so precious why is she sweet to me ah wait gotta be cool"
4. "I second lupe" oh, do you? Why? Because you think she's awesome and you're gay for her, is it? You see her tallent and it pisses you off that nobody else seems to appreciate her like you do so you're gonna show them that she's she can be awesome of you give her a chance but also you hate conflict and you're a part of a group for the first time in your life and you have to be kind to the popular kids even though you're all in your 30's
5. Befriending Esty. They look at you like you have to befriend her? It's fine, I'll be there, so you don't have all the responsibility on you. I can do this. Also, she's close to you, and I want to be close to you, everybody wins! And also, if you see a bit of yourself in her, I'm gonna fucking be there to take care of her, because any part of you deserves to be taken care of. Even if it's a part you dislike or want to stay away from.
There are a ton so I might write more later or something. Also Jess is non binary. Like, she obviously isn't, but she is, you know?

I’ve just read a post about Esti having fun and the peaches including her and laughing together during the first episodes, even thought the language barrier. And I’m very confused because I didn’t perceived that at all.
In fact, I don’t think we see anyone talking/interacting with Esti in the first few episodes. Except Lupe (because of the language), Greta (to invite her to night practice) and Jess (howling together into the night and codito codito at night practice). And sure, we see her smiling while night/morning practices but we also see Shirley kind of dismissing her while they ride the bikes. And we see her sad as soon as episode 3, first because they got her name wrong on the check, and second when she tries to bond with Lupe over a letter written in Spanish and Lupe shuts her up and is being a bitch to he.
Then there’s that night scene when Lupe confronts her about night practices. I’ve always perceived that scene with Maybelle, Jo and Terri as them laughing at Esti, not with her. Like that bit when we get Maybelle, Jo and Terri on the front and Lupe and Esti looking at them? It didn’t feel like just about night practices but also about language/cultural barrier.
And I might be projecting here? But that feeling when you realise they’re not laughing with you but AT you, and that they’re using you just because you talk a different language and that can be “exotic” and “funny” to some people for a bit, it’s devastating. And I feel that’s also the moment Esti kind of realises where she is and that she’s completely alone (because who she thought was gonna help her out -Lupe- ignores her most of the time).

I just love the different ways that aloto approaches queerness and parenthood.
Toni recognizes Max’s queerness and fears it, but mostly she fears her daughter being hurt in the way that she’s undoubtedly seen happen to Bertie.  The core of their conflict being that she wants to provide for Max, since she’s a pillar in her community and she provides for everyone, at the salon, ushering at church, being motherly towards people like Clance who need it.  She does like Max as well as love her, but she can’t see Max living a future with the way she is, so she wants her to change all the same.  It’s such a realistic conflict with so much urgency in the time (and now too).  Edgar is much more accepting of Max’s reality because he didn’t experience losing Bertie the way that Toni did, and his family has been settled in Rockford for much longer, so he’s farther removed from the immediate need to establish himself in the community the way that Toni has.  Toni, on the other hand, knows how hard it is for Black women, and she knows how much more dangerous it is for people who are gender non-conforming and queer.  On the flip side of the coin, there’s Bertie and Gracie, who are pillars in their own community, who bring Max in and encourage her to learn of the world beyond Toni’s sphere.  All of them love Max, but none of them can tell her who she is.
For Lupe, motherhood is a complicated obligation.  We see her sending money home, so there’s someone she’s providing for, but we never find out who exactly that is to her.  From what she tells Esti, her family intervened and took her daughter from her because they thought she would be a bad influence in some way.  Bad influence in that she was a young, single mother?  That she was queer?  Something else entirely?  It’s not clear.  But whatever it was, Lupe recognizes, and regrets to an extent, that she has benefitted from being relieved of the responsibility of motherhood.  So when she’s forced back into a caretaker position, expected to meet all of Esti’s needs because she is the only one who can communicate with her, she resists.  It’s cruel, yes, to contribute more directly in Esti’s exclusion, while the others do it carelessly, out of ignorance and lack of effort.  But it’s an understandable response to the unfair expectations placed on her, especially given that she’s harshly scrutinized by her teammates and subjected to casual racism on a daily basis.  That’s not even getting into the ways that Esti reminds her of her daughter, and of the youth that she herself was denied, having a child at that age.  It’s all been denied to her, because, in letting go of her daughter, she lost all claim to those feelings.  In deciding to go find Esti, deciding to open up to her about it, she gets just a little bit of that back.  Her motherhood is inextricable to who she is, and so is her queerness, and so is baseball.  She’s never been allowed to have all three.  And opening up about it doesn’t fix that, but it’s something.  Esti’s forgiveness is something that Lupe rarely receives, but constantly gives.  And forgiveness is something we constantly deny mothers who give up their children.
Carson’s sister immediately mentions the absence of their mother on the phone and half-accuses her of leaving Charlie.  It’s not until later that we find out that Carson’s mother left when she was young, probably forcing her sister into that motherly role.  Carson clearly misses her mom, maybe idealizes her more than you’d expect from a kid who was abandoned.  I don’t know if Carson ever realizes it fully, but I think she takes comfort in knowing that, even if her sister and husband are disappointed about her running off to play pro ball, putting off having children for it, her mother would probably be proud of her decision.  Charlie’s accusation that “whatever made your mother leave is in you,” is heavy with the implication that her mother was queer.  That it was selfish to choose that over her family.  And it was.  But Carson decides to do it, too, because the newfound sense of self she has is more than any of the stability or love that her husband could give her.  In a way, it’s just the same as Greta confiding that she’d like to have children but could never put herself through commitment to a man.  I think a part of Carson knew that about her mother all along, which is why she shows such an unexpected amount of grace about being left behind.
It’s just so intense to see these different ways that queerness intersects with and complicates parenthood, especially in this time period, when the expectation of women to become mothers was even more prevalent than it is now.  The strangeness of having so many men off at war is enough to shift the perception just slightly enough for something like the League to exist, but it’s all about to snap back like a rubber band during the baby boom to come.

hold on hold on i'm having thoughts about Lupe and Jess, the butch duo, possibly the two team members most intensely passionate about baseball itself and winning, actually being the ones that are closest, most protective, nurturing, and kind to the youngest member of the team Esti
like, yes, everyone else should've done better, and Lupe had some stuff of her own to deal with first, but it's them, it's not the main characters, it's not the one who's actually a mom, it's not just anyone it's them

Thinking about how Bev had to have known about the raid pretty soon after it happened to have arranged for Jo to get released and traded so early in the morning.
Meaning that at some point in the night after she heard about it, however that was, she would have probably gone and looked to see if all of the girls were there, and she would have found Jo gone, Lupe gone, Jess gone, Esti gone, maybe Carson and Greta gone depending on when they made it back to the house
Like if Bev wasn’t called by the police and told that they had Jo and only Jo, and she instead went and investigated herself, then she might have legit thought she lost half the girls in one night when she realized what happened

i don’t think this scene will ever stop emotionally obliterating me. there’s so much that builds up to this moment, you can almost see the moment lupe knows that she has to talk about it, and you can see how painful it is, how it’s still painful to think about her daughter, so much so that she pushes away and dismisses esti because she reminds lupe of her.
in the earlier car scene, before esti crashes, it’s like lupe finally sees how much she’s been contributing to esti feeling alone, that it’s been hurting her. she seems surprised to even learn that esti just turned 17, and you can see the moment it clicks for her. she could have been thinking about herself at 17—how much she needed someone the way she could have been there for esti. but it was too painful for her, it might have felt easier to pretend she didn’t care, to keep her distance, to hide away her pain behind anger.
but she realises the impact that it’s had, how esti had to grow up too fast just like she did, but she’s still a kid who just wanted to feel less alone. who saw lupe and thought lupe would be just as excited to have someone on the team who speaks spanish. except she ends up feeling more alone because lupe brushes her off time and time again, even when esti is trying to help her.
“it’s like seeing her and not seeing her.” is the most gut wrenching line—she’s reminded of alma but simultaneously reminded that she can’t see her. having that reminder be constantly present would have been hard to handle, how difficult it must have been, to be expected to care for and be the sole person responsible for esti when she was told by her parents that she would screw up her own kid, when esti’s a reminder of that child that got taken away.
the way lupe looks at her kills me, because it’s like she finally lets herself feel the pain of it, without the anger, without the defence mechanisms that she normally uses to disguise it.
then esti hugs her and lupe doesn’t expect it but she realises how much she needed it. it shifts something, because she immediately jumps into caring mode when esti is cold, and you see so clearly the change in their dynamic. the start teaming up with each other, lupe looking at esti like a proud dad when she does her pep talk.
anyways, this scene is as beautiful as it is devastating, and i think just a really important moment for both lupe and esti. roberta and priscilla’s acting is just perfect in this scene, they both have such good control of their micro expressions. roberta conveys such deep pain and sadness with very subtle facial acting, priscilla crushing your heart without a word of dialogue is mind blowing. i wish we got to see more of their dynamic as it changed

Crazy ALOTO Wizard of Oz Thought
The 3 butch Peaches, Jess, Lupe, and Jo are the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, and the Cowardly Lion respectively.
Each of them appears at first to lack, and then turns out to possess, a personal quality in the same manner as each of these characters.
Let me explain.
Jess: The Scarecrow.  A Brain.
Jess appears at first glance to be an uncouth and uneducated heathen from the Canadian hinterlands.  She lacks refinement, shall we say. She also lacks the ability to pass, which is a strategy even the other butches seem to be able to employ.  The fact that she is so outwardly masculine further compounds her rural vibe to give off a (prejudiced) impression that she probably won’t be that intelligent (I could write a whole thing about why people associate female masculinity with stupidity but that is for another time), and definitely won’t be emotionally intelligent.
This turns out to be wrong very quickly.  Jess is smart.  She is highly observant, ridiculously emotionally intuitive, great baseball iq, good musical ability, at least a decent understanding of math, plus whatever you would call the rural version of street smarts (woods wits).  She’s not a book smart genius or anything, but honestly, she seems like a genius in her own way particularly when it comes to reading people.  Like the Scarecrow, people assume she’s dumb.  Like with the Scarecrow, they are wrong.
Lupe: The Tin Man.  A Heart.
Lupe seems like a complete hard ass from the first moment we meet her and in a lot of ways she is.  She’s harsh with Esti, weirdly abrasive in her first interactions with Jess, defensive with Carson, etc.  She is competitive, she is here to play.  (I am in no way saying this is unjustified, by the way; I think Lupe’s overall harshness is a defensive strategy that makes perfect sense in a world that is coming for her on so many fronts, especially when she’s dealing with racist BS from within her own team.) She tries very hard to seem like she doesn’t care about anything or anyone.
This also turns out to be blatantly untrue, though, often to particularly entertaining effect.  It makes for a great laugh, actually- especially in the scene in the bar with her date from the other team (Wait, baby.!..I mean, I don’t know her) and the scene where she and Jess search for Esti (No I don’t care...we need her, I’m worried about the team).  Despite her carefully callous exterior (and genuinely tough personality), it becomes clear that she cares.  This is especially true where Esti is concerned.   Yeah, she cannot show it, but it’s not caring too little that makes her lash out at Esti; if anything it’s the opposite.  Like the Tin Man, Lupe seems harsh and cold.  Like the Tin Man, she had a heart all along.
Incidentally, Jess and Lupe’s friendship/brotherhood showcases this well for both of them: Lupe’s heart first shows in her bond with Jess, and Jess’s weird little genius enables her to see through/facilitate fixing some of Lupe’s bullshit with Esti.
Jo:  The Cowardly Lion.  Courage (The Nerve).
Jo is such an under appreciated character, in my opinion.  She had one of the best arcs on the show.
From the moment we first meet her, Jo is placed as the more cautious “voice of reason” to Greta’s antics.  She is wary of Carson as baseball competition when they first encounter her.  She is constantly concerned with Greta breaking the rules, and interrupts and reminds her of them.  She is the most reluctant to go to the bar.  But through all of this, which we are mostly seeing from a more Greta or Carson based POV, there’s something else happening on the inside.  Jo starts urging Greta to go for it.  She does go to the bar, and when the worst thing happens, instead of turning tail and running she is bolder than ever.  She doesn’t want to hide anymore.  She’s not the scared one-Greta is.  And she is going to take her moment to shine, goddamn it.  She faces the future with courage, and defiance, and even a kind of joy, in the face of everything.
When I first watched the show, I was so expecting it to go a different way, with Jo blaming Greta for talking her into going to the bar and thus getting her trapped in the raid.  That would have been the predictable fight.  But instead, it went for something so much richer and more interesting, and in that it revealed that Jo, like the Cowardly Lion, had the nerve all along-she was finally ready to use it.
This concludes my rambling unedited analysis.
Who is Dorothy in this situation? Carson, obviously, and I do think these 3 all play a role in her journey pretty similar to their Oz counterparts (Lupe and Jess guiding her at the bar, a more contentious back and forth with Jo-it’s not a perfect match but I see something there).  Also I would like to shout out the butch trio dynamic which I wish we’d seen more of-”showering” Lupe with praise, Jess and Jo bonding over boxers, etc.-I think their interactions were awesome and they only reinforce this reading for me as well.
I do also think they each share some physical traits with their Oz counterparts (Lupe is physically rigid, Jo is big and strong, Jess...literally looks like a scarecrow IDK what to tell you) which is certainly a coincidence but entertaining none the less.
Finally, I doubt this reading was written into the text intentionally, but I think it’s a fun way to look at it and thought I would share.  I couldn’t fit all of my thoughts in here, unfortunately, but I did my best.  This is unedited so apologies for the rough spots.  I love this show and its butches!  Go Peaches!

okay so halloween is gone now and y'all know what that means (it means winter holiday headcanons!)
-Jess and Lupe being good, responsible parents and immediately spending an entire paycheck on presents for Esti.
-Everyone ends up at maybelles ranch, but this wasn't planned??? They all just went to her house (because they missed her damnit) and everyone else was there??? Like they had peaches winter but not on purpose???
-Shirley shows up, not quite sure why she's there, she just missed Maybelle. Maybelle expected her because at this point she had Jess, Lupe and Ana there with Carson and Greta en route. Shirley is touched because when she enters the living room there's a menorah in the middle of the various Christmas decorations- "I could never forget you Shirl." (SUPPORTIVE MAYBELLE RISE)
-Greta doesn't know Carson's coming. Carson doesn't know Greta's coming. Carson comes through the door and Greta is there, Maybelle hugs Carson, then let's her talk it out.
-Maybelle brings the drink, and Jess cooks a huge meal in Maybelle's kitchen. There's too many of them to fit around May's dining table so they end up with impromptu chairs. Lupe is squatting over a milk crate while Jess is stuck on a pile of pillows.
-They drink wayyyyy too much and end up ringing Sargeant Beverly. The call goes a little bit like this:
"Heyyy sarge! Merry Christmas and stuff. we miss you sooo much and I-No Lupe- Was it Jo? We sent you a present for how much we loooooooove you" (Jess)
"Oh is this Bev??? Hey Sarge I think- No Jess let me say it- I think- Hermano please?- you should be Coach next year" (Lupe, who is giggling)
"Miss McCready, Miss Garcia, it's 3AM."
-Jess teaches them to ice skate, she's the only one who's done it before and she ends up teaching them all because everyone is awful at ice skating. Jo's like a deer, immediately falling over while Greta (who everyone thought would be fine) is barely standing up.
-The peaches just adopting 'Belle's kids. Like all of them. Jo and Greta spoiling them rotten while Jess (bless her heart) tries to teach them mad forest skills and tells them stories.
-Jo holding her arm under the mistletoe and everyone cackling. Greta kisses it first, and then it turns into a weird limbo of everyone kissing Jo's arm as it progressively gets lower.
-Maybelle and Jo sharing a cheeky kiss. (that's the whole headcanon I just think they should kiss.)

A little collage-birthday card for the JessLupe truthers server pride event. Prompt was birthday (click to enlarge!)
Lupe's birthday is approaching and she's been very explicit she doesn't want to celebrate or get any presents. Jess and Esti, shockingly, try to respect her wishes but they can't help themselves and make her something. They figure if it's something little that they make together, Lupe won't be too mad. So they combine their crafty skills and make her a birthday card using cuts from magazines and old birthday cards, and pictures of their faces Lupe has taken over the years (unfortunately, all Lupe's pictures they find are of her scowling, which is fitting anyway since this is how she feels about birthdays). Esti is very proud of their work and is convinced Lupe will love it right away. Jess knows she will pretend to hate it but will keep it in her especial things box. She's not very worried though, she knows Lupe will forget all about her birthday when she gives her the real present, when they're both alone in their bedroom. (When Esti asks why Jess is using random pictures, Jess says it's a secret message for Lupe. Esti looks at it for a long time and doesn't really understand the secret part, she thought everybody knew already?) Esti's message translation: Dear Lupe, Happy birthday! I know you didn't want any presents, but please don't be mad, it's rude not to give presents, even if it's just a card. We made it with Jess for you. It was my idea but Jess insisted in using that picture of your face, she says it's "hilarious". I hope you like it. I love you!
Edit: you can get a birthday card like this here <3

an incomplete list of a league of their own headcanons
-jess clocked greta the second they met but didn’t say anything
-as the baseball season progresses lupe and jess went to the bar less to pick up girls and more just to spend time together
-beverly has defended the girls more than she lets on, she always turns a blind eye to contraband boxers or suspicious room sharing
-carson mentioned the french hooker line to max once and max thought she’d gone mad
-max and carson keep in touch when max is on the road, clance sends max comic strips in the mail
-jess and lupe both go for femmes but are secretly more inclined in a butch4butch direction
-after getting her hair cut, carson became slightly more masculine in her mannerisms, greta noticed but didn’t say anything
-greta secretly has a photo of dana sewn into the lining of her bag, so that even if dana can’t see the world, she can come with her in spirit
-maybelle picked up on what jo meant by the blondes line, she deliberately kept it quiet
-shirley gets gradually more progressive as the season goes on, eventually she realises that being around queer people won’t make her one
-shirley has ocd (i would argue that this is canon, fight me)
-jess gradually improves her spanish, one day lupe walks in on her and esti having an argument over the washing up in spanglish
-esti sings and jess plays guitar, sometimes the whole team will sit in the living room and have a sing along (some of them say they hate it but no one really does)

Catching You Wearing Their Shirt with The Rockford Peaches (+Max)...
Right! As always, when I open a new era on the blog, I start with a preference, and since I haven't done that in a while, I decided to use it to announce that I'm OFFICIALLY taking requests for A League of Their Own for now!
Since I watched this series, I've been obsessed with it and the cast in general, so I thought that with the lack of fanfics about them here on Tumblr, I'd start writing some. I hope you like it, and I hope you might be interested in the series as well. It is worth taking a look!
Anyway, let's go to the preference. Starting with a cute one and going until you guys get tired of fanfics with them hahahah
(Just to add, the fanfics with the Heathers and Stranger Things will still appear here and will be free to requests too, if you want).
You can send me an ask or comment on one of my last posts if you have any special requests... the rules and masterlist are fixed on my profile!
Enjoy!

W H A T  H A P P E N S  W H E N . . .
(Carson Shaw, Greta Gill, Maxine Chapman, Maybelle Fox, Jo de Luca, Lupe Garcia, Jess McCready, Esti Gonzales and Shirley Cohen)
* * *
Carson Shaw
Tumblr media
She opened the door with force and haste, not giving a damn about the girls who were jostling each other, just so she could see you step into her field of vision and jump into your arms, giving you a kiss when the girls seemed to walk away. .
“We won!” she screamed, as soon as she parted from your lips. “We won, and it was no fun without you there to celebrate!”
“I know not,” you replied, smiling. “But I'm proud of your victory, that's what matters. I missed you like crazy here alone!”
Carson smiled pityingly and kissed you once more. The two of you were dating, but she had decided that it would be best to avoid public appearances, because people might be suspicious.
Suddenly, she was staring at you with a frown.
“Hey, is this my favorite shirt?”
You blushed violently, caught off guard, thinking she wouldn't notice. "Yeah...", you stuttered. "I was missing you a lot, and I thought I could wear your shirt to have your scent closer to me and lessen the longing, who knows...", it was your turn to frown. "Why? Some problem? Did I get that ugly?”
“I think with the mask on, it’ll work a lot better,” Carson replied, her face serious and her brow furrowed. Seconds later, she was smiling and kissing you again, which made you understand that it was just a joke. “I'm kidding, baby. You don't look ugly even if you were wearing a watermelon around your neck. By the way, my shirt looked a lot better on you than it did on me, you know?”
Greta Gill
Tumblr media
It happened in the same context between you and Carson. You were dating Greta and she was out for a game, the final. Knowing that girls would drink after they competed if they won, you knew that your girlfriend would be late and wouldn't be able to meet you.
But the longing was so much that you couldn't stand it. You had to wear a Greta T-shirt to assuage the urge to run after her so you could sleep better with her scent beside you.
When she opened the bedroom door to see if you were actually asleep, she was met with that adorable scene, and of course she recognized the shirt within the first few seconds.
Greta approached you and noticed your chest rising and falling, overcome with sleep. She smiled and pulled the blanket up to cover you completely so you wouldn't get cold.
"Sweet dreams, (Y\NN)...you can keep this shirt if you want", she whispered before leaving and closing the door again, a thousand times more in love with you.
Maxine Chapman
Tumblr media
Max smiled at the sight of you getting on the bus, all dressed up and ready for the game you guys would have in another city. You sat next to her as usual and held her hands as she looked you right in the eye. Something was different about her girlfriend.
“There's something about you that doesn't feel right, (Y\N), what is it?”, she asked, still looking at your face.
You smiled, knowing what it would be, but you didn't really respond. "I don't know, what do you think, M?"
“Is it your hair?” she wanted to know. “My mom will kill you if you show up over the weekend with the shortest strands, you know that.”
You smiled again. “No, it's not my hair. Pay more attention, Max..."
She stared at you a few more times until she noticed, biting her lip in disbelief. “I can't believe it, you little thief! You stole my favorite shirt! That's why I wasn't finding it in the suitcase!”
Maybelle Fox
Tumblr media
“(Y\N)!”
"Yes love?"
You came across a seemingly angry Maybelle. She was rummaging through her suitcase and had practically all of her clothes lying on the bed in the room she shared with Jo.
Her eyes widened when she noticed what you were wearing, and she walked over to you pushing you on the bed and grabbing you by the collar of your shirt. "How do you dare? I thought girlfriends were for making deals!”
“What did I do, May?” you asked, a little confused.
“Now, isn't it obvious? Look at yourself, honey!”, she smiled, running her fingers through the fabric of the shirt and using it as a form of teasing. “This shirt is mine, it was in my suitcase until yesterday!”
It was your eyes' turn to widen. “Oh, is that your shirt? I thought it was mine! I was wondering about the scent on her!”, you reached out to kiss Maybelle quickly. “Sorry, May, do you want me to take it off?”
She held you once more and smiled, her expression suggestive. “Oh no, honey, not now! You can keep it for now. I'll borrow yours then. Remember how you told me that I would be lucky in the next game if I used it?”
And Maybelle left you there alone, in bed, full of unanswered questions about her, your weird random good luck charms and without the shirt you loved to wear so much. But you loved her just the same, and that was what mattered in the end.
Jo de Luca
Tumblr media
Honestly, Jo doesn't really care whether or not you're wearing her shirt, and she even likes to see you go out of her way to tease her, but of course, every now and then some teasing wouldn't be lacking. After all, your girlfriend is Jo de Luca, right?
“Are you wearing my shirt again, birdy? (A/N: I predict a lot of fights with Greta over that nickname, huh)”, she would come telling you, just for fun.
“Force of habit,” you would reply, shrugging your shoulders. "Why? Don't you like it when I wear your shirt, Jo? Say it, and I'll take it off in a minute..."
She smiled and walked over to you, reaching out and kissing the muck that rose when she reached out. “I love it,” Jo replied, kissing your lips afterwards. "But you lack muscles, baby, you'll never get Jo de Luca's muscles, even if you're wearing my shirt."
Lupe Garcia
Tumblr media
“Wow, what is this I'm seeing with my own eyes? Díos mio!”
You turned around to face Lupe standing in the doorway staring at you too, and revealing your body in her favorite shirt. Your cheeks flushed and you replied, in a low tone. “Is there a problem, dear?”
Lupe cleared her throat, looked at you with her eyes closed and smiled, approaching your body and taking you by the waist. "The only problem here is that you get extremely hot when you're wearing my shirt, cariño."
Giving in to the teasing, you let Lupe kiss you and throw your back onto the bed, giving you a sly smile.
"But we both agreed that you'd be better off without her, right?"
(I BELIEVE IN DADDY LUPE’S SUPREMACY SORRY FOLKS)
Jess McCready
Tumblr media
"Love? Jess?”
“(Y\N)! No! GET MY SHIRT OFF YOUR BODY NOW!”
You smiled at your girlfriend's cute moment. Jess was very attached to her favorite T-shirt, and she hated people wearing it without asking permission. Since she treated you normally, because she thought she had no reason not to, you were on those people's list.
“Love, I'm so sorry,” you paused at the door, peering through the crack open while Jess had her face turned away so she wouldn't face you. "I know you like this shirt, I'm taking it off now, a minute!"
Suddenly, you were pulled inside with tremendous force, and Jess smiled as she pinned you to the wall. “God, you're so cute!” she whispered, kissing you. “You can have my shirt, beautiful, I don't mind. I have decided that I’ll make an exception for you in this regard.”
You smiled and kissed her playfully. “Of course, Ms. McCready.”
“But just for you, okay?” Jess whispered, approaching the door and yelling, now in a very loud voice. “DID YOU HEAR YOU IDIOTS? ONLY MY GIRLFRIEND CAN WEAR MY FAVORITE T-SHIRT, IF I SEE SOMEONE WEARING MY FAVORITE T-SHIRT, I WILL KILL THAT PERSON! THIS IS NOT A THREAT!”
God, your girlfriend was one of the cutest people in the world.
Esti Gonzales
Tumblr media
“(Y\NN), have you seen my shirt-”
Esti smiled at the sight of you wearing her favorite shirt. You turned to face her and were about to open your mouth to apologize when she said it, in slurred English. "Don't be sorry, (Y\NN), don't be sorry...you can have her."
"Are you sure? I can give it back to you if you want.”
She shook her head and hugged you, kissing your cheek. “You look cute with her. Besides, what's written on it really resonates with you, you know?”
Your eyes widened. The writing on the shirt was, of course, in Spanish, something you didn't quite master yet. It was getting better, actually. That was one of the perks when she was dating Esti.
"Sorry Esti, I don't know what is written..."
She smiled, giving him a wink before leaving the room. “Novia caliente, which naturally means 'hot girlfriend', something you really are...”
Shirley Cohen
Tumblr media
“(Y\N)? What happened? Why are you running?”
You smiled, stopping to speak to Esti in the middle of the room. “Shirl saw me in her shirt, now she thinks I'm going to get a virus or something. You know, she's totally crazy..."
“I SERIOUSLY!” Shirley yelled from the stairs. "YOU CAN GET SICK!"
“You don't have a virus, love, don't worry!” you yelled back from where you were. Shirley went downstairs. “Besides, Beverly asked that all the girls' shirts be washed last week. Any germs that want to get in won't last two weeks with the fabric softener smell in here."
Shirley stared at you as you smiled and hugged her sideways. "Confess, you're jealous of your favorite shirt, that's all."
“I'M NOT JEALOUS, I'M JUST CAREFUL!”
