it was early morning when lando's name lit up your phone, a soft buzz following his text. you knew he landed late last night and when you called him just before bed he sounded a bit nasally, almost like he was catching a cold.

sure enough, the text you read on the screen confirmed your suspicions.

would you kill me if i asked to reschedule our lunch date? i'm feeling like i got hit by a bus 😩

you immediately texted him back, fingers typing quickly on the screen.

not at all! do you need anything? i can stop at the store and come by, maybe make some soup if you're feeling up to it ❤️

he felt guilty for canceling the date you two had planned out before he left, especially because he had been away for weeks. his head was pounding and his sinuses were all stuffed up, but as he read your message back to him, he couldn't help the small smile that spread across his face. the sweet words making his heart jump up to his throat.

depends, does the chef also provide cuddles upon request? 🤔

you threw on the first pair of sweatpants and hoodie you could find before grabbing your things and rushing out the door, making your way to the store. after browsing the medicine isle for all different kinds of treatments and debating on wether or not to splurge for the extra strength medicine, which you did, you grabbed the ingredients to make the soup. the same recipe your mom used to make for you whenever you were feeling under the weather, the one that worked like a charm.

and shortly after, you were knocking on the door to his apartment. smiling sympathetically when he opened the door with tired eyes and a small smile, the hood of his black hoodie pulled over the mess of brown curls. he looked tired, and he definitely looked sick.

"'ve got every medicine i could find," you said, pulling all the packages out from the bag and placing them onto the counter, "and the ingredients for the soup my mom used to make."

he sat in the stool at the kitchen island, head resting on his hand as he watched you open one of the packets of pills. you popped one out of it's foil casing, turning around and grabbing a glass from the cupboard and filling it with water before sliding them towards him, "here, this should help with the head and stuffy nose."

he nodded, taking the pills before reaching out to you now that you were in arms length. you let him pull you closer, slightly giggling and wrapping your arms around him as his head rested on your stomach.

you had heard that men were big babies whenever they were sick, but with lando it seemed... different. almost like he had been hiding the fact that he enjoyed cuddling into you, not wanting to scare you off in the beginning stages of your relationship.

but you didn't mind, not one bit. you liked this, and you would've stayed like this for the rest of the day if you didn't have a recipe to start.

his words were muffled into your sweatshirt as he softly spoke, voice gravely, "thank you."

you leaned down and pressed a kiss to the top of his hoodie-clad head, "'course,"

he picked his head up and you were met with the same grey-green eyes you were met with at the door, this time they screamed sleep deprived. you tucked the curls back underneath the hood, "wanna go lay on the couch while i start this? i'll join you when 'm done,"

he nodded, moving slowly towards the couch before flopping down, grabbing the blanket from the back panels and getting comfortable. he flipped the tv on as you tried your best not to be loud with the pots and pans, cautious of his pounding head.

and when the soup was finally at the stage where it had to be left to boil for hours, you made your way into the living room. you smiled softly at his cheek pressed against the couch cushion, eyes closed as he finally drifted off to sleep. you carefully joined him on the couch, stirring him awake shortly as he pulled you closer, legs intertwining with yours and his head falling to your chest.

"Hm... in what way?" You teased him, a cocky smirk on your red sickly face, earning you a groan and a rough poke.

"Open wide my darling," He spoke softly, spoon feeding you soup like an infant, his voice was a tad bit raw due to him crying since he felt like the worst boyfriend in the world for allowing his baby to get sick. His guilt stemmed from his mother's passing as a child, the gnawing feeling that he could've done something if he was stronger or actually knew how to care for someone at the time having scarred him, which of course wasn't his fault whatsoever but he'd never accept that nor forgive himself for not being able to take away his mother's pain.

He did not care what so ever that you could get him sick, you were his baby and you needed care! He watched with a soft smile as he saw you slowly eating the soup by each spoonful, admiring the way your soft lips wrapped around the spoon.

He spoke with a stern tone, despite the fact that it was incredibly obvious that he was a tad bit worried about your sickness developing into something harder to manage and cure, but he shoved those thoughts away and focused on being the confident doctor that you needed right now and not some sappy worried man.

"Do I take them with water or...?" You teased as you gave him a suggestive smirk, earning a heavy sigh in response.

"... Yes water you horny brat."

Dear my Tumblr's friends.

Sorry for not posting or contacting you for so long.

From May to June, Hug wasn't in the best of health, but on the days when she was feeling well, she was in a good mood and could enjoy long walks. However, now that July has come and the hot weather has continued day after day, she has lost her energy again. Then in August, she developed an acute inflammation accompanied by a high fever, and was temporarily in critical condition.

Fortunately, she recovered, but after extensive medical examination, it was discovered that Hug had a malignant disease. (This was very brutal results, as a regular health check-up in early spring had shown no problems…) And for several reasons, it seems unlikely that she will ever be cured completely, so she will have to live with this nasty disease.

Currently, her condition is very calm. And today, she has safely reached her 14th birthday, which brings me great emotion. Seeing her smile so broadly makes me really really happy and I can't help but express my heartfelt gratitude.

春先以降もハグの体調があまり芳しくなく、長らくTumblr活動をお休みしてしまいました。８月には高熱を伴う急性の炎症を起こし、一時は危ない状態にまで陥ったハグですが、回復したのちに不調の原因を探るため色々な検査をしたところ悪性の疾患に罹っていることが判明しました。春に受けた定期健康診断では特に問題がなかったので、それはとても残酷な結果であり、またいくつかの理由から完治のためのハードルが高く、今後はその厄介で忌まわしい病と折り合いをつけながら暮らしてゆくことになります。

幸い、現在は落ち着いた状態を保てており、本日無事に14歳の誕生日を迎えられたことを心からうれしく感じています。どんなときも絶やすことなく僕に向けてくれる彼女の笑顔は本当に宝物でしかありません。

この先は、いつまた身体の変化が悪い方に転んでしまうのか明確には予想がつかないものの、14歳の一年はきっと大きな試練が待ち受ける年になるでしょう。しかし元々イヌの〈犬生〉が短いことは自明であって、だからこそ僕が常々大切にしてきたのは“どのくらい生きるか”ではなく“どのように生きるか”、すなわち犬生の「長さ」ではなく「深さ」なので、今後もその考えを更に強く胸に抱きながら、ハグとともに僕らの愛するグリーン・ロードを一歩一歩踏みしめつつ、「いま」「この瞬間」を楽しみ、ひたすら歩いてゆくだけです。

Everything soon stabilized though, and you nodded. "Maybe when I kiss you I should keep my huffs and sighs to myself so I can actually breathe for a little longer." You laugh, twirling a lock of ginger hair around your finger. "Hey, you can't do that- what if I like hearing them?" He grins, his eyes flickering down towards your chest and shirt. Your own followed his gaze and you smirked. *Well, if you like to hear them so much, there's always other ways you can elicit them." You giggle, slowly pulling up the hem of your shirt in a teasing manner, only to quickly pull it back down. "Heyyy!" Chuuya huffs, but your cocky smirk stays put. "Oh quit your act, just come and kiss me again." You finally say, pulling him in again and resuming as you had before. Fact of the matter is, no matter how much you did or didn't tease him, Chuuyas need for you could never be cured, and with his addiction to you came an addiction to your beautiful lips.

The cold skin of his palms cupped your cheeks as he pulled you in for a needy kiss after months away in mersault. The connection of your lips felt like that of two puzzle pieces fitting perfectly together- it was like you were made for eachother. Your brows were knitted together with relief upon finally having him back, safe in your arms. You knew he was more than capable of keeping himself in one piece, but you couldn't help but worry.
