He's one of the best interpretations of Riddler and here is WHY.

“he's a desyassified version,” “he doesn't wear expensive suits full of question marks,” “that suit was boring” NO!!!!! IT WAS THE PERFECT SUIT FOR HIM TO START!!! He literally comes from the lowest point, and he talks about how the men in power and corruption keep the low income/poor people at the bottom. Ofc he can't afford those shiny beautiful suits because he doesn't have money for it. Also the military suit was GREAT. He paint it and designed his own symbol which is amazing, a gun sight with a "?" in the center.

Also, he fights againts corruption and classism? 😭 Why would ppl hate that? He fights for the people that were forgotten like him.

“it's not the same story of his father and blah blah blah” ok, they changed his origin story A LOT, and I can get why you get mad at it. I also get mad when I am used to the southern granny Scarecrow story and ppl change it to the story of his father experimenting of him- BUT regarding the Riddler's origin story, it is so so great. Eddie HATES LIES AS WELL, HATES CHEATING, because ppl used to tell him that he could have a better future, and gave him fake hopes. He just wanted an opportunity to be better and when that promise of renewal broke, he broke, too.

He grew wanting to please everyone, be a good boy for the nuns and the other children at the orphanage, even if he didnt agree in somethings or if it was difficult for him to act "normal" (masking his autism- we will talk about that soon), but NOBODY thanked or pleased him. As he got older, he still followed orders from his corrupt boss and the goverment. But what did they do for him? NOTHING. And when he does something for himself ppl tag him as self-centered.

He became the Riddler for the others that also needed help, not only because of him, and ppl still think he's selfish.

He's implied to be autistic (you can notice this more in the comics of Riddler: Year One by Paul Dano), he is non-verbal since kid (canon), as an adult ppl say he doesn't talk and call him weird. He doesn't know how to interact with people in a "normal" way. He also seems to vocally stim with riddles and weird silly noises that you can hear in the movie.

The catholic guilt content? PLEASEEEE. We need to take advantage of that. He even did a catholic reference riddle!!! (That one of the sins of the father)

We can also see that topic of him dont knowing if he's insane or not, (or denying being it). He knows his situation is not good, and HE TRIES to be better, listening to podcast about mindfulness and stay positive- but at the end, everything gets worse to him. He's very smart and is afraid that his biggest and greatest thing about himself (his mind) is also the worst thing and can turn againts himself because of a mental illness. We saw it in the movie when Batman calls him "sick and twisted, etc etc," and he has a mental breakdown. Yes, that scene is DEEPER than you think. His mother died in Arkham when he was in the orphanage as a kid, now imagine that the guy you always admired says to you, “you're gonna die alone at Arkham” just like his mother did and no one cared. He doesn't want that, he wants to be remembered. He doesn't want to end up like his mother- alone and mentally ill.

He makes funny jokes in the movie! He's so goofy!!!!

AND CAN WE TALK ABOUT HIM BEING A BIG BOY?!!!! CHUBBY RIDDLER SUPREMACY!!!!!

And please he has the same bad habits as Arkhamverse Riddler, you cannot hate this version of him if you love Arkham Knight Riddler. He doesn't sleep well because he plays the DETECTIVE role (YES! HE ALSO GOES THERE AND INVESTIGATES- or else how tf would he have evidence of all the corruption and know all that information?) and claims that Einstein only took naps. He doesnt eat well. His lastname is Nashton (a reminder that is canon that Arkhamverse Riddler had the same lastname before changing it to Nygma). And in this page called "nigma. org" is well known and ppl call him a genius, which suggests that we will soon see how he calls himself E. Nygma.

ok im sorry but "he's our dick" does not feel earned to me. like they use that fantastic shot of the whole crew in episode 6 last season but what's crucial abt that shot is izzy isn't hanging out with the crew. he's sitting away in the corner monologuing abt how he thinks maybe ed might not want to kill stede.

i do think it's significant tho that jim wasn't there for izzy at his worst aka threatening to withhold rations for laughing at him. like they weren't part of the vote to mutiny against izzy. but frenchie was and frenchie was like "start with his leg see where it goes" which does not seem like he's really that invested in keeping izzy alive.

also it's weird how we don't see fang at all for this bit with hiding izzy in the walls. like he would be the one i'd expect to have the strongest connection to izzy bc he knew izzy before the show started and he was hugging and comforting izzy last episode.

anyway imo jim keeping izzy alive is more abt them missing when they were on the ship with olu and the whole crew and the ship was like a family, not necessarily abt feeling loyalty to izzy specifically. i could be wrong tho who knows.

one thing i do know is that it is VERY important to point out how jim is struggling really hard with everything, archie is not. she wasnt there for the co-captaining era at all and she seems to be rolling with everything like it's all expected. this includes the wedding raid and ed pointing a gun at her last season and stuff. even now she's mostly just confused by why jim is bothering to try and keep izzy alive. but she acts like the amputation and the violence are all what she expected.

🍀 - What originally inspired the OC?

so when camp entre (truffula flu) was in its death throes, i kinda saw the end coming over the horizon and was already thinking "well, i'm really attached to a lot of the things we've done here what if i made an original webcomic based on that" and so i had to start populating it

well originally i made andrew to be in entre's spot and he was literally deoncelerized entre (until 2019 when he rly became his own thing w just some similarities) and i'm literally swagtre-obsessed til i die so i was like well obviously i want to recreate a similar dynamic so i literally made ace to be andrew's love-interest and foil. that's why i include swag as one of his inspirations and it's..kinda obvious too. but trufflu swag-mod was fine w the obvious inspiration so it's all good

it was like a decade ago i did this so things are fuzzy but i remember when things really Hit me was when i remembered(? or someone mentioned? i forgor. just basically i ended up watching) Ferris Bueller's Day Off and it literally smacked me in the face like i know Exactly what i want to do for this character now. i threw in some eddy from eene and kuzco from emperor's new groove and boom. i had him.

now we get to the next part of ace's development. so when i made him he was kinda just..on the backburner but! i got the idea to try and put him in thneedville/thornville high and develop him there, but i Also wanted there to be more girl charas in the au and i was like "well i think his personality would be really interesting in a girl chara" so i made him a girl for my concept for that au

him and his twin (was gonna be run by spike/rocky's mod) they were Ace and Anna (i think..) he still has the kinda original look here even if i made it a bit more feminine. he also doesnt have a twin anymore. i joke he absorbed her in the womb and that's why he's so lucky.

bc the thing i kept was when i originally made him (cis male), his name was gonna be Dwayne and he just chooses to go by Ace bc its a cooler name. and when i made him a girl his name was gonna be equally embarrassing so he..still ended up going by Ace. (i kept it. it's his deadname now LMAO) bc after the highschool au was a Flop for me, i was like well no i want him to be a guy again but decided to make him trans bc i didnt have a trans chara yet and i thought it was Time, especially as a trans man myself, to have a chara with those sorts of experiences like me :3

i was attached to the name Ace bc 1. its fkn cool 2. i always knew i wanted him to be asexual so. the puns 3. there's a lot more puns to be made w a name like Ace and it just fit his demeanor and stuff and the way he loves doing stuff with cards (cardtricks, poker, etc) there's a lot of weight on his name being Ace and i love it

his full name is Ace Dale Miller. and it was meant to sound redneck af. being someone born n raised in mississippi, i know the culture very well LMAO and so his middle name is bc his dad (regardless of being born afab) gave him that middle name bc of Dale Earnhardt. and Miller comes from the beer of the same name. bc that was a thing i wanted was his discontent and disconnect from his roots but never fully escaping them

in his mainverse (zombie apoc comic whenever that happens) i keep him early-mid 30s and typically that's the age-range i default to and have done the most to Set Up for. i like him being old enough to make a name for himself and be Set (before whatever plot happens to tear it all apart) and also being in that age but having the tendencies of a manbaby. it's funni to me

however in the cult au i want to eventually get running on a blog, he's going to be a senior in high school and being a teen is the general age-range i go for for that au

i'm a chronic multi-shipper especially with my own ocs, so he's had flings with a lot of my friends' and former-friends' ocs, but the main chara i default to (and is canon in his canon universes) is Andrew :3

his favorite things to do: be right, be correct, other people be wrong but not him, mobile games like candy crush, poker, card-tricks, darts, billiards, blackjack, craps, you get the idea he likes to gamble and do stuff you find in bars, he also likes singing, he also likes getting his way by any means necessary like it's a thrill for him to outplay and even manipulate other people so that things end up in his favor when luck isn't already working for him, he likes to show off but only when it works and people fawn over him for being so cool and skilled. oh yeah he also lowkey likes pranks and trolling ppl but he doesn't do it a ton? so i wouldn't call him A Prankster, but he does enjoy it.

he hates doing things that are the opposite of all that. like he hates being wrong, loathes losing, he hates being bored, hates getting dirty, hates too much manual labor, hates being inconvenienced especially in the smallest ways (but he does like a Challenge so this isn't the same thing as that), he hates emotions especially confronting or even recognizing his own that aren't happy good time emotions, he hates crying (him or other ppl)

the thing about him is he complains and bitches and moans about the smallest shit but if something Big and Serious were to happen to him either emotionally or physically, he'd play it off like he's fine. he's okay (he promises). like he'll whine about a paper cut all day but catch him with a mortal wound tearing through his middle and he'll hide it and march on til the blood-loss gets him. he's just That Guy.

Not gonna lie to ya! Never thought I'd be here writing a Stranger Things fic. Then again I also said that about every other fandom I've written for on here so my word means nothing XD

Stranger things 4 was.....an experience. Did I love it? Volume 1 absolutely. Then volume 2 came upon us and.....what the hell was that?! Dont get me wrong, I love the way it ended with the upside down breaking into Hawkins. I loved Elevens arc in season 4 as a whole, I loved the Russian rescue mission and escape storyline which led to two of the most emotional reunion scenes I've ever seen. I loved that my favourite three characters (sans Eddie since hes only had one season hence he doesnt apply to this argument) had more screen time than they've ever had in the show. And by that I'm talking about Steve, Max and Dustin. I loved that Jonathan finally had a friend that wasn't Will or Nancy the same way I loved when Steve found a friend in Robin in season 3.

However....why were so many parts of volume 1 just completely forgotten about or rushed in volume 2? Mike telling eleven he loves her? Why was that a plot point? Why did he only say it when he was forced to say it? Why did Eddie have to die in order for the group to defeat Vecna? It would've take the bats just as much time getting back to the house as it did the trailer so they would've got him in time either way. Why did the Duffers pull a Two Days Later on us?!?!?

Another point I was confused about is why they conveniently forgot that Steve was literally mauled by bats....the scene where Eddie is explaining the warzone and Steve's just standing there bleeding through his bandages just like 'eh, just another Tuesday' made me laugh so much and then it's just never brought up again because apparently it was a way to introduce these bat things so that wed have insight into how one of the most popular characters would die....nah fuck that, imma change it.

Goes without saying Steve is absolutely my favourite character in the show. His character has by far had the greatest evolution and I cant wait to see how hes handling the aftermath in season 5. But I feel like they really missed some opportunities with him in season 4 and I'm just kind of projecting that onto this story because I like the character so much and hope you all like this story too :)

(Also side note but I'm honestly living for how the Duffers set up two potential LGBT couples with Rickie and Byler and then just threw the fruity fours great upside down adventures at us like XD I love the ship of Steve/Eddie, not sure I feel as into Ronance as alot of you but I think it's just because I like Robin way more as a character than I do Nancy, who honestly I have mixed feelings about her character.)

Also also, while this is a Steve/Eddie fic, that is not the sole or even the main focus of the story, its mainly about Steve's relationship with everyone, as well as some of the other characters with eachother, with a big ol dose of fluff on the side to cover up all the hurt in these poor kids.

THE WORLD DOESNT WANT THIS TO BE SAID I JUST FUCKING GLITCHED AND X-ED THE REWRITE BUT NO! It’s happening world! I’m gonna say it. I’ve found kinda? similar aus(which I loved MAWH so maybe it’s basically already out there, if so anyone the link please I’m begging) but it’s hard to find stuff with mourning because of all the different tags for it on ao3.

The au concept re-rewrite (salty.) it’s just a concept of my inner brain so it’s not very flushed out and I hate the tumblr spacing size so it’s a bit clunky I apologize!.

But Steve falls in love with Eddie after he dies; it’s the pain of living off “what could have been”s and stories. But before his realization, everyone’s moving on in their own ways, sometimes it’s with the help of steve listening, giving advise when he can, but most of the hellfire kids stories end up going to the same place, Eddie. All the fun they had with him the campaigns, the friendship and school with him so Steve just,, sometimes let’s it slip his mind that Eddies gone. the only time he really remembers what happened is because of dreams or the harsh reminder from dustins breakdowns, but its due to of all this that it just never truly and fully sinks in that he’s gone gone and he ends up mourning late, maybe it’s weeks or months but he finally realizes that he’s never gonna get it, the friendship the hanging out or his,, more and it breaks him in such a human way, a cruel way honestly. he grieves heavy but he doesn’t wanna bring it up himself, everyone is doing so much better; so it just festers within the confines of his home, he starts not being able to go into random rooms such as the kitchen or his room or maybe parts of outside, it’s like barbera but worse; he can’t go the weirdest places, ones that don’t even have anything to do with Eddie, whys it worse? he didn’t know Eddie or Barbera that well but he heard stories of barbera too, saw her probably more then he did eddie, whys it worse?. so he ignores and ignores until it gets bad enough everyone’s noticing. the “whys Steve’s like this” and the “hes basically a shell of himself, what’s going on?” Honestly make things worse because he doesn’t know yet either, until he does. It hits him like a train. he’s fallen bone-crushingly head-over-heels for that boy, the one his kid friend basically brother he babysits watched die, the one they left the body of in hell. he feels guilty. he’s still getting stupidly blamed for the murders even though he helped with the trying to take down the real killer who was not really human, his uncle still thinks he’s missing doesn’t know he’s dead and steve’s just here, falling for someone he hardly knew.

that’s all I’ve got for now! I’ve got a migraine so I cant quite think of anything else for this au maybe Eddie turns out to be a creature of the upside down or he’s still dead and it’s just a story of acceptance and moving on and family or something but I thought it was nice enough to throw up into the world. I’ve never fully watched stranger things though (can’t, Dont know if the graphics will mess with my reality issues so I’m stuck on complications, clips and non real-and-moving fan work) so I don’t know how accurate it is but I still hope you found some enjoyment reading! like steve has been going on this whole good guy arc specifically because of the whole jonathan situation season 1, so i can see steve seeing how much she loves jonathan and thinking the last thing he could give nancy to really show how much he loves her is to save the man she loves. like how when you have a crush on someone, you can sometimes push them towards the person you have a crush on.

Also, i can see steve being like "I did nothing to save barb or to save nancy from her grief, the least i can do is make sure she doesnt have to go through that again"

Actually, here is an alternative thing for you to occupy your time with, and a question I have been meaning to ask you for a while. I have finished 911 finally! So I'm ready for the new season. And I wonder, realistically, what do you think the roadmap would be for a buddie endgame?

I absolutely see how their story has been framed and filmed in a lot of parallels to how a romantic storyline would be set out. But there has been no outright mention of either of them being bi - although the conversation about Maddy setting Buck up with whassisface was very casual and could very easily have been an example of canonically bi Buck - and they are both at the end of season 4 in 'relationships' with women.

So, in your estimation, what's the timeline? What's the transition? How do they go about this and how long does it take? I wanna know your thoughts 👀

okay yes i have lots of thoughts on this and it's actually one of my fave questions i get asked. I've always watched a lot of tv shows so I'm just estimating on what I've seen before and what I would personally do. IMO this love story is a slow burn. We only have four seasons so far and only three of those seasons have Eddie in them. This unsurprisingly got long so ill put it under the cut.

So I'll go by seasons bc to me its important to look at everything that has happened so far by seasons and by love interests and not as a whole. Its the best way i can form a timeline that I think would make the most sense and why

S1: So we don't get any hints at Buck being anything other than straight and I think this is because he was supposed to be. They hadn't planned for Eddie yet and they definitely hadn't planned for the chemistry Oliver and Ryan were gonna have. S1 Buck was this reckless kid who didn't take anything serious. He was definitely super immature. Then he meets Abby and he starts to get serious about his job and his love life. I'm not gonna say "Abby changed him" because she didnt. He saw the person he was and the person he was becoming and decided on that change himself.

S2: Eddie!!!! So we get introduced to this army medic turned firefighter in the least heterosexual way. Then Buck is angry because Eddie is hot and really good at his job. they work together and Eddie compliments Buck and now they're smiley bffs. Seriously wtf was all that? Anyway this is all sus bc from what ive seen before in other shows when a main love interest leaves and a new main character replaces them, that means something. JLH replaced Connie Britton as far as big name actress but i really believe Eddie replaced Abby as far as importance in Buck's life. Do i think they brought him in with the intentions of turning him into a LI? No but they sure fueled the narrative from the get go. I think they saw fans reactions and started testing the waters.

Moving on to LIs in this season. We find out Eddie has a kid and the mother is not in the picture (eddie made sure buck knew that right away). Then later on we find out he's technically still married. shannon comes back and we get Eddie finally getting to confront this head on. He tries to get his family back together for the sake of his son. Its big for Eddie's character bc all he does and all he's ever done is for his son. Then Shannon asks for a divorce then she dies bringing this arc to an abrupt end and leaving eddie heartbroken.

meanwhile Buck is still waiting for Abby. Then he finally accepts that shes not coming back and decides to move on. He goes right back to being "Buck 1.0" with Taylor and feels bad about himself because that really isnt him anymore. He wants a real relationship. So then Ali calls and asks him on an actual date and he agrees. This is his first try at a relationship after a heartbreak. in tv these don't usually work out but are used to develop the main character's growth. We don't really see much of her but she breaks up with him so.

S3: This is Eddie finally dealing with his feelings/guilt season. This is also the season I think we really see how important Buck is to the Diaz boys. S2 had cute buckley-diaz family moments but those could still be interpreted as a best friend and his best friend's kid. This season though... after the tsunamic episode was when i really started to fully believe buddie was going canon. This season is solidifying their bond not only as Buck and Eddie but as Buck Eddie and Christpher. As I'm writing this I realized neither of them really has a love interest in this season do they? Ana is introduced but then is clearly presented as definitely NOT the right choice for eddie and especially for Chris. Then they counter that with Buck helping Eddie build a skateboard for Chris that he can use as opposed to Ana's ablest remarks about how he can't do it so just move on to something else. Then we get Buck's reaction in Eddie Begins. Buck has seen his team his friends his family get hurt on the job before but he has never reacted the way he did when it was Eddie in danger. Again solidifying just how much these two mean to each other. Don't even get me started on this season being when Eddie changes his will offscreen. Anyway we get Abby back and Buck finally gets the closure from that relationship that he needs to move forward into a serious relationship.

Now S4: jfc s4....IMO this is the only logical season to get the ball rolling on Buddie and they sure did that with 4x14 despite everything else. So i never thought they would be the first serious relationship for each other after the heart break theyve both experienced. It wouldn't be fair to their character developments. Buck tries dating Veronica and that clearly doesnt work but we know hes now open to dating again. We get Buck Begins where we see why Buck is the dare devil he is. The only way he got his parents attention as a kid was to put himself in danger. They bring back taylor and how to they ultimately get together after she friendzones him? She thinks hes in danger and suddenly wants him. As much as i hate it this is really gonna be a relationship where Buck finally stands up for himself and sees his own worth and realizes he deserves more. He deserves someone who sees him and loves him for who he is. He deserves to be chosen, something Abby Ali his parents dont do and what i think taylor wont end up doing. I feel like shes gonna choose her career over him. Maybe not in a "I'm breaking up with you" way but maybe she takes a new job and want to do LD (hes tried that twice and it didnt work for him. hes not gonna want that) or she could ask him to go with her but he wont. His family is in LA. His job is in LA. Eddie and Chris are in LA and he won't leave them. Then we have Eddie finally deciding to move on and try dating again so they bring back ana. To me it's not gonna work out so I'm not bothered at all lmao. It's interesting that they'd choose her though. Someone we already know Eddie doesn't trust with his son. There's also more buckley-diaz family scenes of them being coparents. The hildy episode, Chris running to Buck when hes mad at eddie, Buck being the one to tell Chris Eddie got hurt, then Buck staying with Chris and taking on the guardian role without him even knowing just how much that role really does belong to him. He didn't do it out of obligation. He didn't do it because he was asked to. He did it because he thought it would be best for Chris. Finally to 4x14. This is by far the biggest "Oh shit this is it. This is the beginning of buddie". We find out Eddie changed his will a year ago and has just been sitting on this info. I think Eddie knew back then what it meant but he wasn't in the right mindset to accept what it means so he kept it to himself. I think he finally started allowing himself to go there during treasure hunt. The man was jealous yall. Carla coming back and her comment about doing whats best for him and not chris is his oh shit moment. I think he wouldve broken up with Ana a few days after that if he had the time lol. He gets caught up in the mother/son sl then this poor mf gets shot by a sniper. The way that whole scene was filmed btw was not in a bff way. That was a lover watching his beloved almost die in front of him. Buck again puts himself down and Eddie decides this is the moment. He needs Buck to see how important he is. He wants buck to know how loved he is. So he sits there talking himself up to it and finally lets Buck know just how big of a part he is in Eddie's family. Buck's previous scene is him saying he wants someone who wants him back then here is Eddie saying he needs him...Chris needs him. wtf.

So with S5: I think Eddie knows and Buck has a feeling but he's not sure so what i would do is spend s5 with Eddie basically showing Buck his feelings but not exactly getting in the way of Buck's new relationship because Buck has to be the one to make that choice. Id also have chris feeling the different shift with buck having a gf like he did with Eddie. This newfound info wasnt just dropped on us for a "Aww so sweet" moment. This will business is gonna be a part of a bigger storyline. I'm hoping its with Eddie's family during maybe 5b.

So what I think would be the best timeline for canon buddie is 5a eddie already having either broken up with ana or is gonna break up with her, Buck choosing himself and ending things with Taylor by midseason finale, them bringing in Eddie's family in 5b and maybe then being when Eddie confesses his feelings for Buck. Then 6a we could get them walking on egg shells around each other not really knowing what to do bc this is all so new for both of them. This could bring just the right amount of comedy and angst especially them awkward and flustered around each other at work. A big blowup can happen between them for added angst (maybe an arguement before one of them or both of them is put in danger) then a midseason finale kiss. Then trying to find the balance between their personal relationship and their work relationship during 6b.

I don't know how long Fox shows last but procedurals can last a long time. I'm not sure thats gonna be the case for 911 especially with all the main cast staying that long so i think this would give us at least a whole season (S7) of canon buddie.

As far as then being presented as straight, there's been more seeds planted about buck being bi. A few i can remember off the top of my head: all of 2x1 lmao, maddie's comment about bucks boy crush on eddie, buck hinting at thinking eddie is cute when he thinks maddie is talking about him, the christmas elf, the comments on the instagram livestream, idk if youve watched it or not but TK's comment to Buck in the crossover episode, and like you mentioned Maddie's casual comment about setting him up with Josh. All we really know about Eddie's love life is he married Shannon when they were young and is trying with Ana so it could turn into a whole storyline for him.

eddie week day 6 - "I don't think I'm strong enough." + faith

Today was supposed to be one of the happiest days of Eddie's life, and here he sits, staring out the window with an ache in his chest.

The sky is a particular shade of blue. Like the eyes he used to spend ages looking into. It's familiar. He's reminded of a conversation he had with Christopher, about a week ago.

"You wanna know what I learned from my science book today?"

"What?" Eddie had whispered, staring up at the ceiling and holding him close.

"It said that everything in the universe is made up of these tiny little bits called atoms," Chris said. "Everything. The plants and animals and clouds and stars are all made of these little pieces."

"Yeah?"

He nodded. "And it said that those atoms never dissapear. They're always around. And even when people die, the atoms in their bodies slowly get sent back out into the universe to make new things."

Tears burned in Eddie's eyes as he turned his head to look at Christopher. He didn't quite know what to say, so he let Chris continue.

"So I think...I think Buck is still out there in the world. Even if we can't see him. There are pieces of him in the trees, and the clouds, and the sky."

It hadn't done much to comfort him that day. In fact, every piece of Buck he then saw around him just made the awful feeling inside of him grow.

But as he sits here now, on a day that was supposed to be full of happiness and love, he lets himself see the good in it too.

"I never really believed in this kind of stuff, you know," he says out loud. "A higher power, signs from the universe. Any of it. But it feels...different now." Now that there's a chance you might be out there somewhere.

"Hell, I don't even know what I'm doing, saying this out loud. I guess I just...wanted to be with you, in any way I can. Today especially."

Eddie blinks away tears, looking down at the wedding invitation in his hand. When he speaks again, his voice sounds rough.

"We were supposed to be getting married today," he says. "We wanted an outdoor wedding, and you said June always has the nicest weather." He looks back out towards the clear blue sky. Feels the soft, warm breeze coming in through the open window. "I guess you were right."

He falls silent again, tears running down his cheeks, and the ache inside him grows.

It's not the nice kind of ache either. Not the excited beat of his heart or nervous butterflies he'd been getting used to just a month ago -no, this ache has claws. It wraps itself around him like barbed wire, squeezing tighter and tighter with each breath he takes.

He wants to escape it. But he's afraid that this one feeling is the only thing keeping him together, and if he breaks from its hold, he'll shatter into pieces.

And he doesn't have anyone around to help him pick them up anymore.

"Buck, I don't think I can do this without you," he whispers. Hopes that if there's even the slightest chance that Buck is out there, listening, he can hear it. "I don't think I'm strong enough."

Eddie knows that if Buck were here, he'd tell him he has nothing to worry about. That he could do whatever he set his mind to.

But he's not. All there is is silence.

"We're trying. Chris and I, we're trying so hard. But everything- everything was so much easier with you here. Better. You made our lives so much better, and now that you're gone, I don't know how to live without it.

"You told me you wanted me to be happy, but-" He runs a hand through his hair. "I don't think I can be happy without you."

After a moment's silence, he says, "We were supposed to do that together. Get married. Grow our family." He looks down at his hands. "I was supposed to watch you hold our newborn baby for the first time, and pretend not to notice that you were crying when they took their first steps.

"We were supposed to fight over stupid things like who's turn it was to do the laundry, or which drawer the salad tongs belonged in. And even after all of that, we were supposed to fall asleep curled up next to each other, because we never stay mad for long.

"We were supposed to grow old together. We were supposed to have a life together."

And now we won't get the chance.

The sun reappears from behind a cloud, casting the room in bright light, and Eddie's eyes follow its rays. His gaze catches on something, a corner peeking out from underneath the mattress. When he moves closer to pull it out, he realizes it's a slip of paper.

Sitting back on the windowsill, he unfolds it, and his heart clenches in his chest when he sees, at the top of the page in Buck's messy scrawl, 'wedding vows'

It feels significant, that he found this right here, right now. Like the sky knew he needed to hear from Buck today, and decided to hand him the one last piece of Buck that he didn't already have.

He blinks away tears and focuses on the writing. The paper flutters slightly in the morning breeze.

'Eddie,

The day is finally here. It's kind of crazy to think that after everything, this is where we ended up.

I mean, I hated you that first day. I really and truly did. If anyone had told me that just a few years later, you'd be the love of my life, I never would've believed it. I don't think anyone would've.

Well, except maybe Bobby. He's always known me a little too well.'

Eddie laughs weakly at that.

'But the thing is, you never let me hate you. Even when I was completely awful to you, you were kind to me anyway.

You've always been like that. Seen me at my worst, and chosen to bring out the best in me despite it. Saw every broken piece of me, and loved me anyway.

I think the moment I realized that, was the moment I knew you were it for me. Because you stay. No matter what. Even when things get hard, even if the world is crumbling around us, you're there to hold my hand.

You make my life better, just by being in it. Being yourself. And I can't wait to spend the rest of my life by your side.

I know they say, in these ceremonies, "til death do us part," but I think I'll keep loving you after that, too. I don't think anything could ever stop me from doing that.

I love you, Eddie Diaz. Thank you for loving me in return.'

Eddie's not sure how long he spends staring at the paper, but he doesn't want to tear his gaze away. Doesnt want to stop looking at Buck's final words to him. This last fragment of Buck that was left behind. Because after this, all he'll have is memories.

He does, eventually, because he's learnt from experience that the world never stops turning, no matter how much you wish it would.

He looks back up to that familiar blue sky. Whispers, "I love you too," and feels it right down to his bones.

Five months later, Eddie takes Christopher to visit Buck and place fresh flowers beside his headstone.

Chris spends a few minutes talking, telling stories from school, and of all the things they've been getting up to at home.

When he wanders away for a few moments to pick fresh wildflowers from the area near the pond, Eddie kneels down on the grass.

"We miss you," he says. "We always will. But I think-" He looks up at Christopher, leaning down to inspect each flower closely in order to pick the perfect one. "I think we're gonna be okay."

A breeze flutters through the trees above his head, and Eddie swears he hears them whisper back, "I knew you would be."

richie and stan were best friends

i cant bring up the specifics of the book since ive only read it once, but both the book and miniseries confirm that richie and stan were friends before the formation of the losers club.

stan (at least in the miniseries/movies) is the only loser(except, possibly, beverly) who can keep up with richies jokes and, without missing a beat, have an equally witty quip. theres a certain amount of friendship and comfortableness that goes into being able to make jokes with your friend, without it becoming personal. there is no venom behind "thats not saying much". its richie making a joke about his dick size and stan poking fun at him, theres no venom behind “do what you always do, start talking”.  stan doesnt have the same bickering with any of the others, and he certainly wouldnt make jokes like that with people he doesnt like. yes, richie jokes with all the losers, and none of them hate him for his often inappropriate comments, but none of them have comebacks. they just wave him off for the most part.

but its also the way stan can react to richie without looking at him. the way stan immediately knows richie goes for a high five after “beats spending it inside of your mother” and brings his hand down. the way he rolls his eyes before richie can even finish his sentence because he knows its going to be a bad joke.

the way, at the end of chapter 1, stan deadpans “i hate you” before smiling and richie doesnt hesitate to smile back.

the way they always seem to gravitate towards each other, almost always standing next to each other when they can. in chapter 1, richie gets knocked into stan by the bowers’ gang and they help each other up because thats what they do. to contrast, later in chapter 1, when the losers go to bens house, eddie falls when he tries to dismount his bike and richie just watches, he doesnt help like he does with stan.

its stan grabbing richie and pulling him out of the way when pennywise comes out of the projector. its richie holding onto stan and comforting him in the sewers in the miniseries. its stan trying to hold richie back when richie tries to hit bill. its richie whos the first to get to stan after judith attacks him, its richie on the brink of tears when stan screams “you left me. youre not my friends. you made me go into neibolt”. its richie screaming “stanley!” when he gets thrown back by pennywise during the fight

in the miniseries before they go into the sewers, its stans “i said i was in” and its richies “yeah, you think we’re gonna let you have all the fun there, billy boy?” richie is just as scared as stan is, he just doesnt show it in the same way.

now to the main part of the argument: stans bar mitzvah

richie was the only one of the losers to go to stans bar mitzvah. its not like the other losers didnt know, because the core four talk about it at the beginning of chapter 1. neither bill nor eddie show up to this huge moment in stans life. in the movie, its hinted at that stan might be questioning his religion, or at least, he doesnt believe his religion is the most important thing in his life. he wants support from his friends, and looks to richie, the only one there, for that support. hell, richie is the only person in the whole synagogue that supports stan in that moment.

similarly, when richie needed support, stan is the one who provides it. ive said it before and ill say it until i die, richie was going to leave derry and the losers in chapter 2.

richie was driving away, ready to turn his back on the losers, when he came across the synagogue. its only when he remembered stans bar mitzvah, and his speech about what being a loser means, that he decided to stay. "thanks for showing up, stanley" is not a throw away line of "oh i remember you now lets fight this clown" its more along the lines of "i remember how you made me feel safe and loved and how the rest of the losers make me feel the same. thank you for reminding me when i needed it most."

theres also more behind "probably like he was as a kid: the best". thats not just a line about how stan bought them shower caps to keep spiders out, its specifically about the connection richie and stan have. its why stan is stan the man, its not just a simple rhyme, its because richie looks up to him and thinks hes, as cheesy as it sounds, the man.

i could go on about every line richie says about/to stan in chapter 2 but i wont because thatll make this even longer
