year of the dragon round up
you may or may not have heard that i spent this blessed lunar year of the dragon reading many dragon books. here i am rating them based on how cool and relevant the dragons are and nothing else. they are listed in the order i read them here.
NOTE: year of the dragon ends on jan. 25, 2025. so if you have any other recommendations...let me know 👀
the earthsea cycle by ursula le guin — these dragons have left an indelible mark on my soul. i adore that they are super intelligent and have their own customs, but they still act like animals with animal instincts. orm embar you will always be famous to me. ∞/10
seraphina by rachel hartman — love em. lots of good discussion of what it means to be human and what it means to be draconic. the sequel gets WEIRD about their lore but i liked the rest of the worldbuilding enough to politely ignore that. 8/10
fourth wing by rebecca yarros — the dragons are regrettably cool but the logic around them is not particularly sound. they don't act like dragons; they don't have the wants or needs that supposedly wild animals would. their classification is awful and bad. but i like that they give their riders powers. 4/10 but really they get a 0/10 for compelling me to finish this book and a -2/10 for starting a wave of romantasy books with poorly considered dragons.
eragon by christopher paolini — i adore saphira. i don't remember what the rest of the books teach us about dragons and i won't be rereading them anytime soon, but i love saphira sm, and i love that despite dragons being a recognized part of life, they still have some magical mystique to them. 7/10
temeraire by naomi novik — you all don't need to hear me talk about this series more. gold standard for lite fantasy dragons. tied intimately to the themes of the story. lots of variation and biological consideration. as a dragonet temeraire hisses like a cat when he gets caught in a hammock and bats at swinging lanterns. what more can you ask for? 10/10
dragonfall by RL lam — i loved the lore and religion. dragon parts as relics is such a cool idea. that said we didn't have a lot of time with the dragons in True Dragon Form but i will look forward to that in the sequel. 9/10
the aurelian cycle by rosaria munda — these books are like if fourth wing was good. LOVE the idea of these dragons, i wish they were explored more in depth, both from a biological view and an emotional, thematic view. they could've been replaced by horses and it wouldn't have changed much. but i like them and they're cute. 6/10
the farseer trilogy by robin hobb — look. when i first read these books i didn't know they even had magic, let alone dragons, and they function so differently from dragons in all fantasy that i don't even know how to rate them. it's such a surprise i don't want to give more than that away. i haven't read the sequel series that actually deal with dragons more in-depth, so i'll give them a go read these books/10
(and yes i know the rest of the realm of the elderlings books have more dragons, i just haven't read them yet. the rating is a command for you all as much as for me)
a natural history of dragons by marie brennan — love the biologist-centrist view of this books. they are animals and they are treated like animals and that's very refreshing and fun in its own way. i wish i liked the book more so i felt compelled read the sequels to see the other variations. solid 7/10 for the dragons tho
tooth and claw by jo walton — this entire book is a heavy-handed metaphor, and while i had trouble visualizing the dragons, their biology is inherent to the heavy-handed metaphor and pretty fuckin cool. there's gross eyeball stuff. they wear hats. 8/10 for that alone
harper hall trilogy by anne maccaffrey — i haven't read the rest of pern but a friend told me how the dragons in the series came about and honestly...love it. wish i could make myself read more of these books. 7/10
to shape a dragon's breath by moniquill blackgoose — love to see feathers and spikes. there was a surprising amount of chemistry (legitimate science not metaphorical) involved with their magic and i like that they're not just for warfare. but it had the same issues as the aurelian cycle, where they are not characters and contribute very little to the emotional journeys of the humans. but their breath is very cool! 8/10
the bone ships by rj barker — not only are the ships made of dragon bone cool, but the dragons are also cool. and importantly they are as gross as they are mysterious. the sopping wet sailors get a 9/10 and the arakeesians also get a 9/10
DNF LIST
heartstone by elle katharine white — genuinely really enjoyed the dragons and their variations as presented here. this book is regrettably determined to get in the way of its own interesting ideas for the sake of being a pride and prejudice retelling. however i will give the dragons a 6/10 for being present and cool despite this
when the moon hatched by sarah a. parker — i did not even get to the part of the story where the dragons appeared. regrettable. NO SHOW/10
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
a song of ice and fire by george r. r. martin — i read these books 10 years ago before i was dragonpilled. i remember liking the themes and drama of dany's dragons, and what it takes to feed/train them. HOWEVER: i can't bring myself to watch house of the dragon. while i am supremely jealous that this series gets a high-budget dragon show and not temeraire (peter jackson PLEASE buy the rights again there's an audience for this shit!!!!) glad that there is a dragon show that has gotten so popular, it bothers me that they're wyverns, not dragons. this is the dumbest thing to be pedantic about in this series and i know that. nonetheless: 5/10 very thematic but not particularly cool. sorry.
the book of dragons, an anthology by johnathan strahan — lots of variety here (obviously) and the graphic design fucks. i'm still working my way through it, but it's impossible to rank these all anyway, so i'll give it a GRAPHIC DESIGN IS MY PASSION/10. in particular i love the brooke bolander piece and think about it all the time <3
#bolt reads things#boy i hope this doesn't show up in each series' tumblr search lol#again. based on the dragons and not the books#i love aurelian cycle i think everyone should read it and talk to me about it#still finishing the bone ships trilogy but really enjoying it so far. very fun once you get used to the ship language

Pokemon Headcanons that I made and collected (PS: forgot which hcs' is who's so credits to the owners) (PSS: most of these are also mine I pormise)
Delia, Diantha, and Prof. Sycamore are siblings
Ash is half Kantonian-half Kalosian, his dad is from Kanto while Delia is from Kalos
Before Delia got married, she and Augustine kept the family name "Sycamore" while Diantha decided to take their mother's maiden name
"Ash" is on of Satoshi's nicknames and his official International name outside of Kanto and Sinnoh
Red and Green exist here and are married, Red and Ash are related while Green is with Shigeru/Gary
HALF SIBLINGS SERENA AND ASH I rewatched XYZ and thought a sibling relationship fits them better than lovers sorry Amourshippers
^^ Yes that would mean that there will be no crushes and absolutely NO kissing
Serena's dad is infertile, so he and Grace anonymously asked for a sperm donor, and that sperm donor turned out to be Ash's dad (He and Delia talked about it and are completely fine with it)
Before Delia inherited the Restaurant from her mom in Kanto, she was a small anonymous performer going by the name "Hanako" (yes I'm using her Japanese name) and would sometimes model for Diantha
Other than being a researcher, Augustine wished to be a movie director. And if he ever got to be a director, he promised Diantha that she'd be the main lead
When Ash joined the Ultra Guardians, Cynthia kept nagging him about the Runes and scriptures about Solgaleo and Lunala.
Everytime Ash came across a new type of local dessert in Alola, he'd ship some to his family and Cynthia (Cilan too but only if he asked)
Misty found out about Alola Sunrise (S1. Ep.20 btw) through Lana and kept nagging Ash to ship her their latest Ocean themed accessories
I like to think that the Champions has an Island for themselves where they can discuss stuff and relax from their duties (Ex-champions are still allowed in the Island)
Iris and Ash likes to mess with Alder whenever they get the chance, and even more when they're together >:)
^^ They thinks it's funny and they're still a little petty that Alder didn't help that much about The Incidents We Shall Not Speak Of (ahem Team Rocket and Team Plasma)
Serena's dad (not the biological one) passed when she was like 5 while Ash's dad passed when he was 2
Even though Delia never got the chance to be a pokemon trainer, she could still kick ass in the field both with pokemon and without pokemon (she's a martial artist because I like cool moms)
To Red and Ash, Lance is the unpresent Uncle while Steven is the gay relative with an even gayer boyfriend (Wallace)
Ash is a polyglot (so is the rest of his family but that ain't about them), he thinks that learning languages is fun and would sometimes ask Cynthia for pointers when learning old/dead languages
Serena learned Kantonese because if his brothers can learn another language then so can she (YES QUEEN)
While Ash is happy to have a sister, he's a little bitter that he's still the youngest. So when the news about Prof. Burnet being pregnant came to life he jumped in joy when he found out he isn't the youngest anymore (ALOLA FAMILY HELL YEAH)
Ash can run in heels, just not in stilletos. He can jog in them sure but never run unless he wants a repeat of The Stilleto Predicament his Aunt Diantha told him about when she and her siblings were teenagers
Ash is often used as his female companions' (and classmates!) living Dress-up Doll. Hair, clothes, shoes, makeup, he doesn't mind really. He couldn't careless what he wears as long as it's comfortable (he will never understand how Nurse Joy can work in those itchy stif uniforms)
^^Diantha and Delia would take advantage of this before he went to his journesys. Augustine is just glad he isn't the main target of their schemes anymore (only is you know Augustine, only if you know)
Whenever Kukui and Burnet are busy and Ash is dealing with his Champion duties, Lei (Brunet and Kukui's kid) will be babysat by one of the class.
While Kiawe and Lana are probably the best option for babysitting because they have more experience by being the older sibiling, Lillie is the one who usually takes care of Lei. Mallow is busy with the restaurant, Kiawe with the farm, Lana already has two little demons in her care, and Sophocles' lab is too dangerous for babies. Hau would babysit Lei voluntarily though so Lei has two (2) official babysitters
Principal Oak doesn't mind babysitting Lei too. Afterall, the tyke is such a little cutie-fly (get it? Cutie-fly? Cause Cutiefly is a Pokemon and has the word cute it in and Principal Oak likes making Pokemon puns? No?)
Jessie, James, and Meowth resigned from Team Rocket because selling Malasadas seems to be paying them more than working tirelessly for a Boss who doesn't give two fucks about them anyway
But before they resigned, they rescued their pokemon they caught throughout the regions and replaced them with empty pokeballs and THEN resigned. No way in hell are they gonna leave their old friends behind
THAT'S ALL I GOT RN

I think I sent an ask like this along time ago? IDK though.
The weird thing about Oz is that it feels like there was stuff they could have brought up if they wanted us to view him in a darker light that they just...dont
Like, that whole thing with Oz conquering the world with Salem and tricking people into worshipping them as gods. Yeah he eventually saw what he was doing was wrong, but that was after he and Salem had 4 kids. So for a long-ass time he was an imperialist god-king
Or the part where he nearly attacked Ruby once she asked Jinn the question.
It just...feels like those are totally things that should be discussed more. But instead they focus on a bunch of other things that are really weird to hold against Oz.
Like why focus on this you have way better things to hold against Oz right there.
That's very possible, anon! I don't know how many unanswered asks are sitting in this inbox now, but it's not a small number...
Totally agree. I think Oz gets criticized to an unfair degree by the canon and fandom alike (no one is shocked to hear this lol) but part of my issue is what he's criticized for, not just the extent. The show tends to take incredibly weird perspectives like, "How dare you give our uncle cool bird powers with no downside" and "How dare you save group members from a deadly airship crash." The fandom takes stances with larger political implications like, "How dare an abused man 'steal' his daughters away from the mother who wants to use them for a magical form of genocide" or issues that fundamentally break the core concept of the show: "How dare you let teenagers fight dangerous battles / How dare you reincarnate - something you have no control over - into a 14yo boy." The show does engage with some of Ozpin's morally complex choices with no easy answers like, "Is it okay to keep secrets if history has shown severe downsides to revealing that information?"... but then the answer the story decides on - "No it's not" - immediately doesn't apply to half the cast, with no examination of how that changes our perception of Ozpin's choice. And, as you say, the show simultaneously introduces HUGE mistakes - "You positioned yourself as a god! Then a king!!"- that the characters could absolutely mistrust him for... but they don't. Because they're too busy focusing on all of the above.
The only thing I'd push back against here is anyone being mad at Ozpin for "nearly attacking" Ruby. I'd consider that a highly unfair criticism as well given that:
We don't know if he would have attacked. He just charges with his and out-stretched, so Ozpin could just as likely have been intending to snatch the Relic
All these characters have aura and train/hit for funsies on a regular basis. It feels like a stretch - one working to paint Ozpin in an unfair light - to act like Ruby taking a hit is suddenly some horrific event that's worthy getting up-in-arms about
In this same scene the girls pull their weapons on Qrow and Oscar - someone WITHOUT that training/fully unlocked aura - gets punched into a tree. Again, consistent morality. Why is Ozpin in the wrong for charging with an open hand (ambiguous) but the girls are justified in pulling their weapons (clear intent)? Why should Super Fighter Ruby be defended for taking a hit after forcibly stealing secrets from Ozpin, but we should shrug off the newbie farm kid taking a hit for the "sin" of being an unwitting, passive vessel?
Plus... as said above, "forcibly stealing secrets." I'm not saying Ozpin is 100% justified in attacking Ruby over this, but I think he's a HELL of a lot more justified compared to actions like threatening Qrow or attacking Oscar. Ruby ignored his requests to give the Relic back; she ignored how terrified he clearly was. She wasted a wish (which Ozpin knew would happen). She revealed his entire, traumatic history to the group PLUS a total stranger (Maria) which, again, Ozpin knew would happen. Of course he tried to stop her. We will never know what lengths he would have gone to, whether he would have truly fought Ruby or just made a last minute grab, but even if he had fought her... It think that's understandable. We can argue about whether it's right, but it's not the sort of thing the heroes should be holding against him once tempers have cooled, especially when he has stuff like playing God that they have hold as a long term grudge.
Out of everything Ozpin has done, maybe being willing to fight the prodigy fighter to keep her from making one of the stupidest decisions we've seen in the show to date is pretty low on the sin list.

In the most recent CR episode I found it really interesting (and really concerning) that it Laudna's truth about wanting Bells Hells to ripcord out of saving the world came hot on the heels of Imogen's truth about not wanting to save the gods
Idk it could just be me, but it seemed like her truth was just another attempt to placate Imogen's moral confusion, while simultaneously pushing those things back onto the whole group
All it makes me think of is the fanon and 4SD discussions about Imogen and Laudna retiring to a farm and living happily ever after. What are either of their reasons for remaining with Bells Hells at this point, if their truths are that they don't want to save the world?
See, that actually seemed fine to me! Fearne had earlier admitted she felt they were ill-equipped for the job and likely to fail, so it's not just them who feel it, and honestly I think that Laudna's confession was one of the more valid ones that I hope get unpacked. Fjord and Jester made a very similar admission to each in both episode 72 and episode 118 of Campaign 2, of "hey, wouldn't it be nice if we just ran away somewhere quiet and never had to deal with this again" and I think that having that admission and then finding a way forward anyway is a really great moment. I didn't write at length about how Orym's "but we have to work together and do this" has also been a really big factor in the party's dysfunction because I covered a lot of that in my discussion of how he handles his own grief well and the grief and pain of others very badly, but honestly it's good that Fearne and Laudna are getting to "we don't have to do this, this was always thrust upon us because an old guy brought us to a cool orc who hired us to look into some stuff and in the process found out that the comparatively small-time political crook was tangentially involved in a a vast cosmic death cult conspiracy that several of our parents are also involved with."
My issue with Imogen is that she literally said two episodes ago she's never prayed and now she's claiming the gods never listened to her, as well as that her reasoning is the horrifyingly self-absorbed "they don't love her", but I actually think it's fine if this party does not wish to save the gods on the grounds of "we feel underqualified and overwhelmed and like we've been at the mercy of many (mortal) masters with no time to pursue our own interests." And I think that Laudna didn't force this specific thing on the rest of the party; she said they could all ripcord, but didn't say who should do it or who felt that way or force them into agreement.
I've talked about the campaign's earlier pacing at length and I don't want to revisit it at length because it evened out, but more so than any other party, Bells Hells has rarely had self-directed adventures. That's a big reason why they're such a mess; they didn't need to develop the tools to come to consensus because Eshteross or Ryn or Keyleth would give them tasks, so we never actually have delved particularly deeply into what most of the party members want to be doing, which is why we're here with this group that's mostly stuck together because they've had jobs to do. I think acknowledging that is an important step, because the task at hand (scouting on Ruidus) is in my opinion within their abilities, but they've been pushed and pushed and have finally reached a point where they can't just keep going. (This by the way is the underlying premise of this post; this is the fundamental reality of Bells Hells as a party. If you like that the most then hell yeah, but a lot of people who claim to love C3 are blaming the entire plot of the campaign for why the party is a mess which is like, so you like the premises of these characters and dislike the vast majority of the actual story in which they exist, and you really just want the story of Campaign 1 or Campaign 2 but Ashton is there.)
With that said though, I do agree that's kind of at the core of Imogen and Laudna. They're so insular, and that's been claimed as a feature, not a bug, for much of the fanon of that relationship. Like, I think Laudna is valid for this specific statement, but unlike Fjord and Jester, who had established in through the course of the campaign both deep ties to each of the rest of the Mighty Nein and a profound sense of responsibility in general, I find myself wondering why Imogen and Laudna don't go off and live in a cottage together and leave the rest of the party to handle this. I mean, Imogen is also impossibly tied up in the fate of Ruidus, but she dithers about the approach so much I wonder why she doesn't decide that perhaps she should stay out of it altogether and retire to that cottage with Laudna until it's all over.
Personally, my thought is that Imogen does in fact secretly like being the special Ruidusborn Exaltant On The Other Side, especially since she's realized her mother wasn't that (as she had hoped). I agree with the fairly common opinion that Imogen and Ashton are in many ways extremely similar people, but whereas Ashton just got a very brutal wake up call of "your parents did fuck up and you're not built different and your desperate attempt to be something special could have hurt everyone" Imogen is still out here going full Javert on everyone's personal thoughts. So I suspect she won't ripcord out in the end, and therefore Laudna won't. But I do think it's valid for Laudna to bring up, and indeed, one of the many things that would make great progress in fixing this party dynamic would be Laudna independently expressing her own needs some more instead of being Imogen's Yes-Woman or projecting her own desires onto other people as I suspect she's doing with Fearne and the shard.
#answered#Anonymous#maintagging bc i think this covers a lot of the nuances that were out of scope for two bigger past posts#critical role

Dungeon is really good! I'm enjoying it immensely! Everyone in the mood for some fantasy ACTUAL dungeon crawling DnD style will love it! Beautiful location, really fun encounters that feel WAY more fair and approachable than many other dungeons and some incredibly cool lore.
The way you collect lore is also interesting; you can't just get in and grab what you need to understand everything, it's tied to a quest that requires multiple runs. This may be annoying if you don't have your own fireteam, but it's a really nice way to experiment with lore delivery; with each clear you continue a quest and can search for hidden rooms and then inside you get a collectible and can listen to dialogue that is explaining the stuff about the dungeon. The only lore tabs are on the exotic weapon and the exotic Ghost shell; everything else is dialogues to listen to. I'll put the lore tabs below and also add some stuff that I've learned so far. I'm missing final three dialogues as it takes some time to collect everything for the quest. Spoilers under:
First of all, the speculation was wrong! Nobody was correct! The castle isn't Shaxx's and Shaxx wasn't involved and he's not on comms. Strange, but I personally don't mind it that much. The dungeon is led by Petra and Crow, mostly because it's focused on an Ahamkara. The setup is that Scorn were detected on Earth where they haven't been before and then it's discovered that they were drawn to an old Dark Age castle that used to be owned by a Warlord. This Warlord is a new character called Naeem and she lived there with an Ahamkara (Hefnd) with whom she struck a deal with.
The Ghost Shell (Zira's Shell, I assume Zira was the name of Naeem's Ghost) explains that another Warlord killed Hefnd and then told Naeem about the whereabouts of its bones and she went there and claimed the castle and the Ahamkara. She made a deal with the Ahamkara to feed on her, infinitely (because she can just keep dying over and over), instead of making other people suffer for the wishes they make. So like if someone makes a wish with Hefnd, the backfire should go to Naeem. Hefnd agreed. Super interesting insight into Ahamkara. While super grim, it shows that Ahamkara are capable of partnership with people instead of just messing with them for no reason.
The Scorn are interesting because the first boss is called Rathil, First Broken Knight of Fikrul. In one of the lore dialogues, Petra and Crow also discuss Fikrul and it's finally explained that he simply vanished from the Reef and nobody knows where he went. So this is some really interesting setup going on right now, which makes sense given that the second episode is going to be about him (barring any changes in schedule and plans ofc). Furthermore, Fikrul is featured on the lore for the exotic weapon from the dungeon and it's the first and most comprehensive answer to the question of where he is and what he is doing. And it's kinda sad ngl! Rathil was a Scorn guy he called "son" and tasked with bringing back Scorn from Earth because he didn't want Darkness to "claim them." I assume that refers to taking. It's interesting because it would mean that Fikrul is not very fond of the Witness and isn't working with/for it. Speculation for now, but that's how it read. The first dungeon boss and some of the enemies needed to activate damage phases are all Fikrul's guys from the lore tab.
The final boss is a chimaera manifested by Hefnd and we defeat it, but the bones remain and they're being siphoned by Taken energy. The Taken appear half-way through the dungeon and it's unclear what they're doing and why they want the Ahamkara. Perhaps to prevent us from messing with Ahamkara to get through the portal? I assume the Witness would know that Ahamkara could help us follow it, so some sort of contingency plan. Super excited to continue playing tomorrow and get the last three dialogues. Really loving the Fikrul update. It feels so good to know that they're laying the groundwork for the hinted episode that will feature him.

shipping rayne but as an aro-spec ace wayne truther <3
before the show, wayne didn't think much about about dating bc other stuff always took his attention and time -namely hockey, raj, their families and friends. sure, he always thought girls and guys were cool and good-looking, but before hs he didn't even realize the way he was always tactile and kind with ppl could be read as flirting, when it really wasn't.
he ended up restraining that part of himself a little to not hurt anybody's feelings -he just didn't know most of the people who asked him out well enough and didn't want to lead them on by withdrawing once the 'love vibe' wasn't adding up, which was what happened more often than not. his longest "relationship" (out of two, ninth grade) lasted less than a month. at least he could strike that out and more comfortably say outloud he'd rather be friends with everyone, instead of feeling weird for not being as eager as other teen boys to date or make out with anyone.
dating wasn't exactly a topic wayne and raj discussed often, but when they did, it was only with one another. i hc raj long questioned his identity, but not too deeply -kind of in a "i'll know it for sure when i get there" way, but he never made any move with anyone -of any gender- bc of that uncertainty. on top of that, the first other uncertainty he secretly had and thought buried deep after the beginning of hs often reared its head whenever he saw wayne in 'scary captain' mode, or as a sleepy but happy lump slidding against him on the couch, or whenever wayne help him clean cuts and bruises, or when they'd hug each other with an iron grip after a win, or when raj would tell him he wouldn't really be out of town the day of this or other dance was to be held and wayne would excitedly drive them to their favorite burger joint in the city. but then wayne also rejected the guys that asked him out (although with no further explanation) and only accepted going out with two of the girls who did (although nothing came out of that either), so raj had no way and no desire to jeopardize their friendship -that their moms long and collectively made weird anyway, since they treated them as brothers sometimes, so yeah, if raj was going to date a boy one day, it'd not be wayne, not even if he, for some wild reason, wanted to as well.
(while wayne, kind of unconsciously, entertained the idea that raj might be like him: never dating anyone because he only felt at ease with and allow himself to imagine what the future'd be like with the one guy he cherishes the most by his side, and that maybe (pls) they're each other's person in the long run -it's just too early to have that convo, tho)
so yeahhh once tdi s1 happens, it gets a bit messy for both of them, but only on the inside. wayne is happy for raj and bowie, but he feels kind of dissapointed in himself for not being more happy. it's confusing, since he's not sure why he's sad, or worried. is he being left behind? is he really a late bloomer, like his older teammates used to say? is he gay too? does he even want to date somebody again? date-date rajie??? what are you supposed to do when you date? does he want do that stuff -all of it?? how can you try without using the other person?? raj definitely deserved someone who was sure of who he was and what he wanted, who can face the world with confidence and can offer raj the kind of love he deserves to the fullest.
for raj, on the other hand, it was impossible not to notice his friend was going through something. Wayne had become very secretive and kept changing the topic or suddenly getting busy with something. he was nice to bowie and seemed to enjoy himself the few times he had hung out with both of them -more than when he rarely hung with only raj these days. they had always talked to each other about what brought them down, so why was wayne acting like this now? raj wishes he was truly oblivious to the possible answer -it'd the worst timing ever, and he still had zero confirmation about wayne. so no, he's NOT hurting any of the two most important guys in his life over weird inferences. he'd wait until wayne's ready... but there was no harm in talking to his counselor, too, before he'd let time pass and regret standing by.
wayne actually beat him to it, and the topic was long overdue, apparently! his therapist helped him untagle and understand his feelings a lot, especially his bond with raj. he's still not sure about how to label himself but he knows there really has only been one special person for him, and that the place he has in raj's life (and raj in his) was (almost) perfect as it was -that's why he was so afraid it would had to change for the worst, instead of the better. now it was up to him to talk with raj, wait for the best and accept his choice.
and that's pretty much how, after a not so long and not so awkward talk, raj and wayne became queerplatonic partners -with wayne being exclusive and raj still dating bowie. it was a formality, to a degree, but it let them get back stronger than ever <3
prior to the release of the first season of the reboot, i kind of bought into that blurry pic of the campfire and was like "huh two jocks who are giving bromance vibes sitting in the central log. i wonder if they are the rumored queer characters -yk, subverting the homoromantically-coded-deeply-bonded-yet-strictly-straight athletes trope, with them realizing the real nature of their feelings during the competition??" but now i'm a little too attached to aro-spec ace!wayne so yeah let's say these two interpretations exist in separate universes.
#total drama#tdi 2023#tdi reboot#tdi#td raj#td wayne#qpr rayne#rayne#td rayne#td hockey bros#liking these two as a qp ship is an uphill battle considering 95% of the fancontent for this ship is pwp#oh well let's do our own#asexual#aromantic#demiromantic#total drama island#total drama island 2023#arospec#🧭

Hi, I know it's been a while but it's allo (autistic? unsure what tag to use) anon here again. I just wanted to say congratulations on the project! I showed it to my girlfriend and she was really happy, when it comes out we will definitely read it together. I am proud to see you doing new and exciting things, and I wish you nothing but the best in your future endeavors! You're doing amazing already and I look forward to seeing you continue on whatever path you want to take with your creative work :)
Sorry I didn't message again sooner, things in real life have been... a lot. I still try to check this blog when I can. Your art is still adorable, and I also wanted to say thank you for your comics about fandom and the stuff that people say to aro/ace people. As someone who is very invested in media analysis(TM) and fandoms, I have noticed some behaviour that is really weird and uncomfortable, and it's good to see other people speaking out about it.
Also, not to decenter your experience, but the comic about labels really hit home for me. When I first got diagnosed it explained so much about my struggles and why I felt the way I did. It was groundbreaking to understand that I wasn't just a broken person or full of character flaws, but that things like sensory issues were just part of being who I am. I don't know if you meant it this way, but I really love the yellow colour of the thought bubbles and the little flowers. I know some people say it's pathologizing or too restrictive to cling to labels so much, but it really is a relief to be given something that helps you understand yourself and feel so much less alone. I am glad you were able to find your identity and community. It's so cool that now you get to make those posts, and probably reach others!
I just wanted to pop in again and say I love your stuff, and it's so cool to see other people loving and engaging with it too. I hope you have a wonderful day/night, passe une bonne journée/nuit <3
P. S. I hope that's how you say it, I'm using google translate.
Heyyyy!!^^ Thank you so much for reaching out again and for all the encouragement and support! I hope you and your girlfriend are doing OK^^ And please don't apologize for not reaching out for a while, I'm happy whenever you do at all but it's very fair to have a lot going on otherwise! If anything I hope things are a bit easier now, so to speak.
Also don't worry about decentering my experience by sharing yours when you relate! I'm a big believer in intersectional discussion, I think people from marginalised groups could benefit a great deal from standing together to defend common interests, and if we can relate to each other's experiences in some way even just a little, although we know and acknowledge they're all different, I'm sure we can go a long way. So I sincerely appreciate you sharing, honestly!! (I'm also really grateful you liked the way I graphically conveyed it, that is a challenge in and of itself^^)
Again, thank you so much for all the positive feedback and support, and thanks for taking the time to add some French in as well, very kind of you^^
Hope you have a great day ahead!

What is my absolute favorite of their scenes and why do I love it so much?
Oh I don't know...there are many good classic scenes. For the sake of spicing it up I'll talk about a moment that I don't often see people discuss and that is actually from an episode that I otherwise don't really like, namely: the scene in 5x19 where Kara is on the ground with kryptonite coursing through her veins and then Lena's anti-kryptonite device flies in and attaches itself to her suit and before it's even started working, Kara smiles and laughs. Just...the fact that Kara is in (if we are to believe her assessment in S3) incredible pain and that doesn't even matter to her because Lena's on her side again. I think that's a really sweet moment and it captures a lot of what I wish S5 & S6 had been about for them lol.
8. Am I most interested in fics about them that focus on fluff, angst, humor, smut or actual plot?
Angst, humor, & plot are all good with me. Fluff & smut tend to bore me.
9. What is my ideal endgame for them?
Hm, I could envision several good endgames for them (none of which include Lena being a witch or Kara becoming editor-in-chief or revealing herself to the world lol). I think ideally Kara would eventually become known as Superwoman and maybe would become more of an independent freelance journalist, while Lena would run the Lena Luthor Foundation which presumably funds Good Things. Lena would keep kryptonite on hand in a secret vault in case of emergency and Kara would be cool with it, and Lena would also design all kinds of suits & accessories for Kara (sorry Brainy but your Supergirl suit design was not very good). I like the idea of Kara having a longer, more stately cape especially as she grows older and more confident.
I do think they'd both want to get married, probably in a Kryptonian or Kryptonian-inspired ceremony. I think they should get a cat or a dog or both. I like lena-in-a-red-dress's fic where Lena adopts Dex-Starr the Red Lantern cat so let's say their cat is Dex-Starr. And their dog can be Rex from sango-blep's comics. Rex is cute.
I like the idea of them having kids, though I also think they'd be OK without them. If they did have kids I think the kids would be Luthors, not Danverses or Luthor-Danverses. They would also probably be created via birthing matrix or a similar technology invented by Lena because I can't imagine either Kara or Lena wanting to get pregnant lol. I like Leo Alexander as a name for a boy. I'm less sure about names for girls (maybe Sasha? Elizabeth? Linda?) but I don't like Lori, I know that's popular because of an old comic where Lena has a daughter named Lori but I am not a fan.
16. What are three of my fic recs for this ship? And (in the event that I’ve written something for them) one of my fics involving them that I’m most proud of?
Catfishy Business by whythinktoomuch is an iconic and deeply funny fic.
lena dies on a wednesday by karalovesallthegirls is a GREAT time loop fic that ingeniously puts us in the shoes of someone who doesn't know they're in a time loop. I think you've said you've read it? Still, it bears re-reading.
There are so many other great fics I could rec but I'll rec one that is a little bit lesser-known, since I've already named two very well-known fics. Which is and darling (is there a cure for this hunger?) by m_oliverfan, aka There Are Consequences To Sending Nyxly To Eternal Torment Land, Actually.
I've only finished one fic for SC so far which is laid in thine enemy's grave? - in truth, i dig it, which I believe you've also read. ^_^
20. How and when should they have gotten together?
I think in a better S5 where they started talking to each other sooner -- end of 5x13 would've been a good time -- and had some time to work through some stuff, I could see an end-of-S5 confession or kiss working. In terms of the actual show, which was never very good at writing romance, I think a Korrasami-style 'they end up together or are implied to end up together as part of Kara finding herself' would've charmed me.
#me? saying something positive about 5x19? it's more likely than you think#sideguitars#up up and away#duck's impeccable fic recs

Middle!Charlie and the beautiful, gorgeous, oh-so-coveted Pink Hair
Big Charlie thinks appearance is a huge part of business! She wants to look professional and respectable, in order for others (especially Heaven) to start taking her and the hotel seriously. Clean, well-kept hair pulled back, well manicured nails, and of course, her beautiful candy apple red suits, which are dry cleaned and ironed religiously. It's all part of her ✨️brand✨️!
Middle!Charlie? Oh hell no! Her style is just so...different. All the suits and dress shoes just feel so stuffy and old. And Charlie HATES getting stuck in them when she accidently regresses midday.
Actually, clothes were one of the biggest hints that vaggie got that Charlie was regressing into middlespace originally. When she's LITTLE little, it's so obvious. The crying, the clinginess, her fascination with toys and Disney. But middle!Charlie is more subtle. The clothes were the first hint because Charlie just woke up one day complaining how her suits were "gross" and "old looking," but everything from her little wardrobe was "dumb" and "for babies."
Middle Charlie is anywhere from 9 to 13, but usually hovers around the lower range.
She wants to wear bright, cheerful things that match all that energy she has! She's drawn to pastels, neons, and an ungodly amount of glitter. One of her favorite outfits when she's feeling middle is pink leggings with gold foil hearts on them, a bright blue cat ear hoodie, and having her hair half-up in a bunny ear scrunchie.
She's drawn to Angel and Cherri whenever she's in her middle range because they're just so cool! Yeah, they wear really cool outfits and do their make up every night to go party. But beyond that! They just radiate big brother and big sister energy and Charlie ends up following them around the hotel like a little duckling.
She's totally adorable, so they don't have a problem with her sticking around. They know to watch what they say around her; no drug or sex talk when she's around just on principle. No cussing either, but that one's because Vaggie warned them not to. Other than that, they all love music, dancing, karaoke, watching anime, all sorts of fun stuff for a "chill" night in at the hotel.
Cherri especially is like the coolest big sister to Charlie. She teaches her dances from KPOP videos and is always down to do her hair and nails. Charlie admires her a ton, and always mentions how she wishes she could dress like her. Especially her pink hair!!! Middle Charlie is just so obsessed with her ombre pink ponytail!!!
Cherri makes one fatal mistake, one comment that sends Charlie spiraling and Vaggie after her with a pitchfork: "Ya know, you could probably rock some pink too. You probably wouldn't even need to lighten your hair."
"....."
"You could do just the ends, or maybe a little peekaboo in the back?"
Cue the spiraling. Three hours of "Please, please, please, PLEASE!!! PLEASE PINK HAIR?! PLEASE?!" at Daddy and Vaggie. Daddy wasn't sure one way or another, he just hoped this didn't mean a resurgence of the dreaded Emo Phase.
Vaggie put her foot down. "Not tonight, no. We can think about it later. But for now, the answer is no. End of discussion."
Vaggie didn't REALLY have a problem with it. In fact, she thought it'd be cute. But she firmly believes that littles and middles can't be making big choices like that. At the very least, she wanted to hear what Charlie thought about it when she WASN'T regressed.
Of course, this did not sit well with Charlie. "It's not fair!!! I'm not THAT little!!! It's MY hair!!! YOU'RE SO MEAN, VAGGIE!!! YOU NEVER LET ME DO WHAT I WANT!!! UGH!!!" *stomp stomp stomp upstairs*
Vaggie was not even phased, she's used to a little drama from her princessa. She secretly thinks that Charlie uses her as sounding board for all her mommy issues when she's in her middle space. Which is fine, get it all out now and maybe it won't be such a shit show when Lilith actually returns.
ANNNYYYYWAYYYY.........grumpy middle Charlie immediately apologizes when Vaggie gets upstairs and has a big cathartic cry session before passing out for the night.
The next day, Vaggie breaches the topic of dying her hair. Charlie...doesn't know now. Part of her still really wants it....it'd look so cute.....just a little pink. But what about the hotel and heaven? Would people take her seriously with hair like that?
(Vaggie called it. Littles and middles can't be consenting for bigs!)
Charlie thinks on it long and hard. Everytime she regresses she comes back to wanting pink hair. Even baby Charlie reaches for Cherri's pink hair when she sees it! It's just...so cute!
Eventually Big Charlie says, "Screw it, let's do this! I want pink!"
So next time Charlie's middle, Cherri's whipping out the dye, the ratty towels, the gloves, the foils, the brushes and mixing bowl, etc. Girl knows what she's doing!
They decide on peekaboo in the back. That way Charlie can actually get a lot of pink but still hide it easily if she needs to be super professional. Vaggie's there to supervise.
AND CHARLIE LOVES IT!!! Once it's rinsed and dried, she's showing off to anyone who'll listen. "Daddy, look at my hair! Husk, Alastor, look! I got pink hair! Angel, angel, do you see my hair? Look! Cherri did it, she made it pink!!!"
The next morning, Vaggie catches Charlie hovering by the bathroom mirror with a grin, and muttering, "Pink, pink...! Omg...it's really pink!" Vaggie just smirks at her little princessa.

Im sorry if im annoying, is just I really love Tmnt, specially Rise, and I also enjoy reading your analysis and stuff.
So, if is bothering you, you can delete this ask, is cool 👍
Now, my question is, character wise, like in a quick grande, idk if makes sense- IMPRESSIONS.
What would it be your first impression of the characters?
*bops you on the head* Stop apologizing. I've said before that if I had nothing to say, I'd just answer it privately. However, I LOVE discussions and I always appreciate asks so you're never annoying me with these. Please, don't worry about it so much.
As for the characters for Rise of the TMNT, I can't comment on everyone as I've only watched so much, like I have no real grasp on April yet besides liking her, but I actually want to start on the major thing that I think both allowed Rise to stand out and what made it so divisive at its inception, especially since talking about stuff like that is kind of going to bleed into what I think of the brothers. After all, I think whether you love the show or hate it, we all recognize that the brothers are very markedly different in this incarnation than literally any other, even if you can point to ones in the past for inspiration.
Most TMNT shows are MNT. Mutant. Ninja. Turtle. Those are the elements that they care about. Rise cares about TMT and goes about SHREDDING the fantasy that is the turtles as ninja. Not that they aren't ninja but like... What do ninja who TEENAGE MUTANT TURTLES like?
This actually even goes to Shredder's change which I'd never heard about before now: He's kind of a washed up loser. Again, I don't know everything but he's just as playful as the boys, he watches television, he goes on joyrides, he loses his mind when he's sick. He's not some grand wise mentor... And I get it. This is a man, going off normal canons, who lost his master, got thrown away, ended up halfway across the fucking globe and lives in a GOD DAMN SEWER. Not some pristine dojo. Not some high tech. Not even a cozy lair repurposed out of a sewer because none of that shit was around. All he had was a dank ass sewer. To say he hit rock bottom would be an understatement.
And mind you, it's not that her turned cruel because of this. He still passed on what culture he could but without stealing really expensive imports, what of his culture does he even have? He can't go to the library to check out books for the new family he wants to make. He can't buy home school programs to help him teach them. He has nothing. And he's old. He was already a man when shit went wrong for him in most canons so by the time the turtles are teenagers, he's at least fifty. Usually he's depicted as WAY older than that, like 70 or 80. Instead of that meaning he's some mystical figure, he's instead the cooky old dude who's maybe not all there all the time. That's a really neat reinterpretation of the character that's genuinely more realistic while befitting the tone of the TMNT franchise where yeah, it's still kind of cranked to eleven.
This is also your warning that I fucking love these characters.
So what about the brothers? If they aren't privileged but underground but instead genuinely stuck slumming it, what happened to them? Well, a core change seems to be not so much a want to belong, they actually don't seem that interested in being accepted by society, but a desire to covet society. To be able to watch and be a part of the concept of society. That's why they're totally at home watching a wrestling match. They aren't wishing they could be in the ring, they're just happy to be part of the crowd with the best seats in the house. They don't have to mind that they have to fight in costume, they're gonna rock it because they're in fucking costume and someone challenged you to a dance battle? You respond with a dance battle. They are MORE content with being outcasts than the turtles normally are because they live vicariously through media like many people do. This is with ONE exception that I'll get to.
I also like, just as a side note, that just because they are normal amongst mutants biologically, they still have no fucking clue what they're doing. They're genuinely caught between two worlds with double the naivety because of it and get screwed over by both halves because of it. Just a fun touch.
OKAY. Enough preamble. Let's actually go from the least to most bold changes of the brothers, at least from my perspective. I've never been huge into TMNT, just never really found a show I managed to watch consistently but I've liked most of what I've seen including the first Michael Bay Turtles movie, so I may not know how radical these alterations are or how safe they are except in a few small cases. For this though, the first one to talk about is pretty easy:
Michelangelo: *stares at how spellcheck just wrote that name* No wonder people fuck up mine. ANYWAYS, the reason I say he's the least bold is because adding artistic to your quirky, comedic heart of the group is not really so much a change as just a small pivot in trope. He's still more inclined towards recklessness, he's still the one who can broach the gaps between his brothers and he is the... Well, he is the one who is telling the most genuine jokes. Again, we'll get to him. But yeah, I like him but he's not actually that interesting to discuss, yet, for me because he is the one who is the most what you would expect.
Donatello: I bet some of you expected him to take the top slot but hear me out: I actually recently did a blog contrasting Big Bang and The Owl House for their depictions of nerds. The point of it was really to say that TOH tried to claim their nerds were some groundbreaking, brave representation but that they were 'good' nerds besides the one uncomfortable nerd who got in the way and that no one liked. The difference between a nerd who never brings up their interests at dinner unless prompted versus one who MIGHT ask "Hey, am I bothering you with this," thirty minutes into a rant about a niche issue with their favorite media that they brought up because you mentioned the wrong time. Say yes and you are going to be there the rest of the fucking night. THIS is what I see with Donatello. Donnie is usually just the tech dude and by that we mean he's conveniently the one who can spit technobabble out and fix things. He is nerdy but he'd never be someone you really question spending time with. This Donnie refuses to spend time with YOU and he will let you know it. He is the brutal honesty, amongst other things, of being autistic, alongside the fact that when they say he "Does machines" in the intro, I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't foreshadowing him making himself a girlfriend out of his one true love. Now, that is going a little far. Donnie does love his brothers but of the three, he struggles the most to know how to deal with them in a human way, to the point where this is addressed very early on with him trying to fix what he finds most annoying about them and how that's wrong. This is not literally the opposite of normal, Mikey is usually the heart of the brothers after all, but Donnie usually gets along because he doesn't really have enough personality to clash. This Donnie has enough personality to perform a heel turn for someone taking shit from him. It's great. However, he is still the tech dude and still somewhat removed from his siblings, both of which are pretty normal even if the execution is different, so it's not as radical a change as the next two.
Now for the two that actually play into why I did all my preamble.
Raphael: I haven't gotten backstories yet but if it turns out Raph looked around himself as he was growing up and realized NO ONE was the adult, I wouldn't be surprised. He doesn't seem traumatized by this fact by any means but he does give the impression of having grown up faster than the rest. He's not just physically more than them, he's mentally more. He's taken a step they all will eventually need to follow him... But he's not going to drag them kicking and screaming with him unless they're being genuine dumbasses. I actually love EVERY part of how this comes to play out. Raph doesn't have his hotheadedness, he has something much closer to cold fury which implies he knows that he can't lose it the way old Raphs did but that anger is still there. He is the one who actually has plans and most often presents worry over how something might go wrong, or sees through the rouses set by his brothers, meaning that he's taken the role of guardian over them (which makes his power being a form of shields technically chef's kiss). HOWEVER, by contrast, he has what feels a bigger blindspot to people outside of his family when it comes to tricks, likely because he's been focused on his brothers for long enough that he has become more naive than even many of the others of the world outside their home. This is probably why he has some of the bigger hero worship amongst them, especially since he's trying to live up to nobler ideas, or at least more adult ideals. That's ironic due to-
Leonardo: The choice to give him the voice Randy Cunningham is pitch perfect casting. This is EASILY the biggest and most jarring change but for the me the most welcome. Leo was never really a straight man from what I could tell comedically, Raph or Donnie usually did more of that, but instead was meant to be the rock of the group. Instead, he just came off as many bad adventure leaders: No personality. He's a nice enough guy and he's good at what he does but that's what you say about your mailman, not the leader of your ensemble cast.
This Leo is anything but this. He does not covet society, he wishes for society to covet him. He has taken celebrity worship to its natural conclusion of wanting to be a celebrity at all costs. He sees himself as the hottest shit out there and you bet your buns he's going to let you know it. He will do anything for recognition which is hardly surprising for a kid who grew up in the sewers watching stuff like Kung Fu movies. He wants to be that level of awesome and you better believe he knows the phrase "Fake it till you make it." Of course, he doesn't think he's faking it which makes when he gets punched in the face all the more satisfying. But... This does come with some wrinkles. He does not look upon the world favorably. If Raph is too innocent, he's cynical. Everything is quid pro quo. If you show him why you're giving him praise, even if it's shallow or a lie, he'll believe you because he is easily manipulated but you show him nothing? You say you JUST want to help without even being family? Yeah that doesn't fly because it's not what he would do, often times even with his own family. It makes for an interesting version of awareness. All of this does beg a simple question though: Is there any connective tissue between old Leo and new one? Is this like Teen Titans Go where they entirely scrapped the old character just to make him some shit eating idiot?
Confidence, wit, and spirit. Raph's greatest problems as a leader is that he isn't quick on his feet, he can't get people to listen to him and when he does have a plan, he doesn't have as much confidence as he needs to make sure everyone follows it. Leo genuinely has everything and than what Raph has a leader. He is smart, that's why he's a snarky bastard. He's confident to an extreme fault but that means when he pitches you an idea, it sounds legit just because of how much he seems to believe in it. And hey, even after he gets punched, he gets back up. He will make you say he is the best or die trying (which from my understanding is essentially the fuck up he makes at the beginning of the movie but with nobler intentions). He is missing two key components from being a genuinely great leader and ninja. The ability to see outside of himself and maturity. He needs to grow up and remember there's no I in team. That it doesn't matter who got the final hit, what matters is that the job was accomplished at all. He needs to stop wanting to be a celebrity, an icon to worship and trudge behind, and instead be a leader who is shoulder to shoulder to you. Who says that anything he'd ask of you, he'd ask of himself.
That is a fucking INCREDIBLE pitch for your main character as a starting point. All the things he needs but a radical wake up call that will force some HARD change if he wants to realize his real potential. Even better, his real potential is what he wants to be seen as, just that so long as the image is what he cares about, he'll never be what he wants to be. It's pitch god damn perfect and the fact that he is a delightful asshole who gets everything he deserves coming to him, constantly, from all angles, while he works on himself makes for a very entertaining character even as you wait for this arc to potentially happen. He is a good cartoon character either way and not everyone call pull that off.
In fact, even the most shallow of them makes for someone who you know will at least make you smirk if you give them eleven minutes. To me, that's a pretty good sign for a good character if one of your main goals is to entertain. And man... These turtles are entertaining. See you next tale.

anon who requested the zolu sneaking around in the modern ASL au here AND HOLY SHIT I LOVED IT!!! I wasn't really expecting you to make such a long post but wowowowow I feel so blessed!!! you have captured their dynamic so well. my heart ached for ALL 3 of them. god i miss them so much.
this au is so fun to work with and think about honestly!!! I'd like to add a bit to what you wrote with a small scene here i hope you like it
zolu lounging on the couch with zoro showing luffy some hyperfixation of his and then yamato comes back home(because this place feels like home now cryinggg) . his eyes immediately light up on seeing what zoro is showing luffy because hey that's yamato's favorite too!
flashforward to an hour later when ace returns home to find zoro and yamato talking in what seemed like another language entirely with fandom related complicated terms and luffy is just sort of watching them while eating popcorn which he passes to ace. they both pretend to be jealous but HONESTLY, they find the sight of their boyfriends talking so excitedly so cute (especially for luffy, because zoro doesn't warm up to everyone easily)
I'll be visiting you with more asl ideas for us to discuss if you find this fun!!!!
Thank you. Thank you. My fiancé always says I'm good at writing stuff in character and I'm glad I captured their energy well <3 I just LOVE the ASL brothers and exploring their dynamic is one of my favorite things ever.
And what you say about Yamato and Zoro bonding over the same hyperfixation??? That is just,,, So cute. I wish I could say WHAT hyperfixation but honestly I have no idea? I think the things they like are too different from mine to know about them. Choose a TV show or anime with swords, cool fighting, and drama and there you have it.
And Ace and Luffy would LOVE that. They're so happy to see their boyfriends comfortable around their home and getting along. After everything they've been through, they deserve this <3
#my beloveds this is just so cute#one piece#roronoa zoro#monkey d. luffy#zolu#yamato#portgas d. ace#yamace

you probably already saw this in ur notifs but i have been OBSESSED with everything tot you've posted ever since my tot obsession came back. like. OH MAN I VIBE WITH YOU. YOUR IDEAS AND DISCUSSION OF CHARACTERS. CHEFS KISS. poly ot5 is my everything especially bcs it gets DEEP into every one of them :D
and i was thinking about mc's parents meeting nxx. in a scenario where maybe, they need researchers and for some reason or whatever they need someone personal, who they can fully trust including maybe some nxx stuff.
luke looks at mc. mc looks at luke.
well, if marius von hagen needed them. surely they'd be allowed to leave the program maybe temporarily.
and that's how vyn, artem, and marius have their internal parental issues brought out in full force at the sight of mc and luke with mc's parents. like they're just coddling them in the Parent way and they're both enjoying it as a Son and Daughter would. and those three are just like Oh. Wow. That Looks Nice.
artem has both parents but like based on how he's lonely as a kid i know these sorts of interactions were surely few and far between. he would Not be so emotionally repressed. marius has a loving dad but a dead mom who people blame him for and austin has said himself that he Represses. like marius. and vyn? Disastrous. yeah they would be having a Moment with that sort of scenario
and the Moments they will be having when the parenting goes to them too. because i think mc's parents are the type to parent their kid's friends too. they see these sad boys and think. Adopted.
SORRY THIS GOT SO LONG ASJJFKWKS it's just given me a lot of Thoughts.
hello hello, and HAHA YEAH i did see in my notifs a lot these past few days!! im so so glad you enjoy my tot stuff, i was particularly surprised that u even managed to get to me super early posts. it makes me rlly happy to see even those still enjoyable now ;w;
also pls this idea is lovely, has such fertile environment for BIG FEELS!!!!
i rlly wish we knew more about mc’s parents in canon. like i understand that theyve been yeeted into the void for narrative/player-insert-ambiguity purposes buT I HAVE A GREAT NEED!! TO SEE THEM COME BACK!!! ALL THE INTERACTIONS WLD BE LOVELY
and gosh yeah jkvkjHVJAHFKS 3 SAD BOIS R IN GREAT NEED FOR SOME FAMILIAL LOVE!! it makes me really emotional thinking about how artem, vyn, and marius have less than stellar parent-relationships for all the reasons u mention. it’s either absence, neglect, or something else altogether that just resulted in a childhood where their parents couldve been better. they werent the worst parents in the world, but they all couldve been better.
(sidenote: “and vyn? Disastrous” THATS SUCH A FUNNBY ONE-LINER FOR HIS PARENT SITUATION AKJFHVSOFAISLVALIUBA)
im So For mc’s parents vaguely becoming pseudo-parents to the other three. i mean, they already did that with luke, whats 3 more neurotic grown men?
(sidenote 2: i joke sometimes that luke is unintentionally very good at collecting father figures. aaron, that Bar L owner, a bunch of mentioned NSB seniors he worked under. people see luke and go “wow is anybody gonna son-ify that young man” and then they dont wait for an answer, they just go for it)
itd be sweet and also entertaining if mc’s parents invited them all to a dinner. i mean, the nxx boys are the people she hangs around The Most so it’s basically like meeting her friend group! her….really weird and varied friend group who REALLY want to make a good impression.
[outside of mc’s apartment, artem, marius, and vyn stall on ringing the door buzzer]
marius: ok so before we go in, i wanna ask…….what gifts did u get her parents?
vyn: this better not be a way for you to flaunt your gift
marius: it isnt! im genuinely curious!! and also hoping i’ll be less nervous if i know what you guys brought!!!
artem: i bought a kitchen knife set and sharpened them myself
vyn: i purchased the best bottle of wine i could
marius: …cool. cool cool cool cool those are lovely and reasonable gifts and now im realizing i should uh. tone mine down.
artem: huh?
vyn: what on earth did you get?
marius: it’s fine, dont worry about it, im getting vincent to drive it away right now
vyn: WHAT
luke, phasing into existence behind them without a sound: so are you three thinking of going inside any time this century?

Okay so my Huntceda/Luz and Hunter ship is canon compliant. A summary of it is: Hunter and Luz through the canon events developed mutual feelings. Luz still loved Amity ofc, and Hunter knows she's taken + Willow and him having that chemistry made him more uncertain despite the feelings being there. Luz pushes the feelings down because Amity is her first relationship + that bisexual fear of your sexuality not being taken seriously if you're with someone of a different gender. As they grow up, she's very close with hunter, and he is with her. Nobody thinks anything of it because all of the crew are pretty close. But they're both the only odd ones out so far as doing magic. Neither of them can perform magic normally. :readmore:
Amity and Luz have some common interests (the azura books, magic) but they're eachothers first loves. It's all new. We've seen the issues in their relationship throughout most of the last season, and meta-wise Amity became not much beyond supportive gf who blushes. In my huntceda set up Willow and Hunter don't date until like a few months before the finale when we see them together. It lasts about a year before they mutually break up. Luz and Amity's breakup is an attempt at a collected one but it doesn't end up being that. It's the product of a lack of trust, growing apart and Luz developing her relationships outside of Amity. All of them being just as excitable and caring from Luz's end. She also has a tendency not to really confide in Amity which makes her much more frustrated with Luz because she's supposed to be her girlfriend. Luz tends to curl in on herself in times of trouble, or figure it out on her own, but Amity assumes she'll be sought out, so is often unaware of the issues Luz is struggling with. This is where those mutual repressed feelings crop up because Hunter tends to seek out Luz when she's off on her own. And she ends up turning to him for support for those stressors. Amity and Luz both still love Alura, and grudgby. But outside of magic they tend to lack things to discuss or keep conversations going. Which isn't noticeable for a long time since they're both really into the books and analyzing them. Luz also tends to get Jealous of Amity because of how together she often seems, as well as wondering if Amity could do better. (hormones, teenage stuff). Her conflicting feelings, wishing for more support, as well as the slow diverging of their interests (especially with Vee being in the picture as her legit sibling, and likely spending more time in the human realm) I don't see them ending up together forever. Also because this show has a real 'your first love is your real forever one true love' bias and that's...... not realistic. So they have a huge blowup fight that starts as a reasonable, kind of backpedally request for a break, which then escalates on Amity's end, and then on Luz's end in response. Their friends are sure it's just a couples spat and they'll reconcile. They don't. At least not at first. (they eventually become friends again, but it blows up pt. 2 when Luz and Hunter finally address their feelings after about a year and a half.) Willow initially sided with Luz, but when that happens Willow ends up going with Amity/siding with her in the dispute. Gus is confused and acts as a messenger before getting fed up with his friends constantly dragging him into stuff. Willow is really hurt by it, Amity is hurt by it. Both Hunter and Luz feel guilty but also REALLY care about each other and both are so lost on what to do. They initially agree not to officially be anything until they can figure it out. Luz is conflicted on her feelings, Hunter is not. Willow is wonderful and pretty, and badass and cool but just not who he really had those intense feelings for. Luz DEEPLY cares for Amity still, but it's just... not how she used to feel. They became more different than they were similar. And that's normal, but she still struggles a lot with it because they're all meant to be a team. Luz and Hunter ultimately end up coming back together officially but quietly. It takes a while before everyone is talking fully again. It causes a lot of friction before Luz eventually breaks down and it brings everyone streaming in together because of the front she was putting up to try to seem together.

Cool little predict/scenario (spoilers ig)
What if the group escapes with the help of the Crane group (except Ashlyn ig... she'll be going through some shit with Maverick kind of staying by her side, evil or empathy idk), and each kid is with the Crane Group member who matches them the best: Ashlyn- Maverick
Aiden- Mr. Thomas
Ben- Blondie (that is, if he does get his name drop, btw I'm gonna consider a character having a name mean they are important to the story)
Taylor- Jasmine
Tyler- Ryan
Logan- Alex
And they're all just kinda on the run from the bigger organization. I like to think each kid has different feelings based on who they got with.
Ashlyn is stuck in this strange comatose phase, following phantoms around to figure out how to get out of this sleep. She senses Maverick nearby but can't do much about him. Although, she senses strange calmness every time he's around (He's speaking comforting words to her, hoping she could hear them, and let it be known he's there for her... omg uncle figure y'all?? FOUND FAMILY AU BABY-). Maverick is just sort of sitting by Ashlyn, observing her to see when she'll wake up, wondering why he came to this point in life (redemption arc baby).
Aiden doesn't trust Mr. Thomas at first, refusing to believe he and him are similar. But after some exposure, he finally understands the similarities, and feels seen by the teacher. They do... a lot of stupid shit while on the run (All those poor billboards man). Thomas also has to keep Aiden close to him in case the phantom tries taking control. Although he does treat Aiden to skateboarding and cool events (which they half the time end up having to leave early because Crane members)
Ben is hesitant to talk to Blondie, not wanting to speak to him. But he notices how Blondie doesn't really look like he wants to talk either, but forces himself to so he could communicate important information either way, and starts to slowly communicate with Blondie (with paper). They bond over the fact that they both don't like communicating with their voice, and Blondie thought giving Ben some speech therapy could help him out. He works with him often, while they relax in calming picnic spots or fields.
Taylor literally will refuse to talk to Jasmine the first 3 days, both out of fear and frustration (She probably has PTSD bc of this woman). Jasmine won't force her to talk, simply asking questions that require head nods or shakes. After 4 days, Jasmine gives Taylor a nice little trip to the Mall Of Georgia, seeing if there was a possibility to contact her brother (who was with Ryan) so they could talk after so long. She let her roam a little bit, with a good amount of cash to treat herself. Taylor does some shopping, not really having fun since she was alone, but she overall got a good change of clothes, meaning she didn't have to wear Jasmine's stuff anymore. While exiting from the food court, she stood there for a second, observing a group of friends having a fun time, not having to go through the hell she was in. She pulled the hood over her head, just wishing things could go back to at least the simpler times. However, she was unaware of the fact that a Higher-Up crane was attempting to sneak up on her. But luckily, Jasmine had been driving up the car to the entrance and planning on waiting for Taylor, when she saw this. Without thought, she drove full speed and hit the Crane Member. Taylor was caught off-guard, and realized what had been happening. "Get in!" Jasmine yelled in a panic. Taylor quickly threw her bags inside, closing the door, and Jasmine sped off. [Side note- Some kids who knew Taylor recognized her, and it spread around the school like crazy]
Tyler is straight up being sassy with this man. Insulting his bald ass head (Insults is his coping mechanism fr), and not really cooperating half the time (Phantom is starting to affect him, so). Although, when he is calm, he generally learns about Ryan, and they discuss about their similarities (Like them being both Hispanic, although Ryan is also mixed Vietnamese). He takes Tyler around the state, giving him a little break from the madness, also making sure he has a safe place to be at night for when it hits 12:00am. (He took him fishing once, safe to say he's never doing it again.)
Logan already got along with Alex, so he's just discussing about plans to get back with the group. However, Alex encourages him to take breaks every once in a while, by taking him stargazing on multiple occasions. He also does calming activities with Logan, like touring museums or having nice little snacks by ponds. They also grow close to each other, treating one another like family (FOUND FAMILY AU BABYYY)
---------
Yes, Taylor's was kinda long. I thought of this concept bc of her, let the child have it. Anyways, hope you like this little ramble I had that actually involved all the kids 💪💪 Bye bye (Prob more coming soon, lmao I'm gonna go insane this hiatus. Red hope you're doing good though, take a break if you need it)

Literally cannot stop thinking about this, though. I spent today goofing off, playing Oxygen Not Included, and all day long I kept thinking okay, but what if? Genuinely can't tell anymore if I was trying to talk myself into or out of creating a series to just, like, dump little short one-shots. Not as an official canon-this-is-how-eyamtb-is-going-to-end or anything, but as a, like, I guess same universe spin-off for self indulgent fluff?
Cons: Writing anything else takes away time from writing eaymtb.
Pros: Get to write stuff like
Sephiroth, Cloud and Loz building motorcycles. After he's accepted into the project, Sephiroth frantically starts researching mechanics and orders books and Genesis is amused at how harried he is in private, trying to learn All The Things fast enough and then tries to act all cool and calm, and then he realizes that Loz and Cloud are kind of winging it, and that's half the fun. They're not trying to build the perfect bike, they're spending time together, and he calms down a lot after that.
Yazoo, once he gets over his resentment about the future-past Genesis, actually really likes the theatre and, yes, even Loveless, and the two start staging little home performances which they bully the others to either join in on or to watch, and actually write a play together. (They can stage more ambitious shows, the more people that Cloud brings home.)
Cloud absolutely goes on excursions (He takes Zack a lot. They go monster hunting.) and returns with more people, and no one really minds. They all make room until an extension or a small cottage can be built.
It takes a really, really long time but Kadaj eventually starts spending time with Sephiroth, sitting together and reading, and sometimes having quiet discussions about the books.
Aerith and Angeal get on so well. They garden a LOT, and their little farm/vineyard/village is FULL of flowers.
I'd ship Claudia, Elmyra and Gillian together just because I want to and because I love the idea of them having a peaceful life at the end, spending their time baking and knitting and reading and complaining about their knees and being too old, and laughing, and raising chickens and ducks alongside Cloud's Chocobos.
I don't want to get distracted by writing the fluff, but at the same time, I doooooo. I wish I could write faster. 10,000 words a day, at least, there's s much I want to write. 😭
