Undercover Challenge 🕵️

Hey everyone, I’m back with another monthly challenge! For the months of March AND April, I am formally challenging any willing writer to take a stab at writing fanfiction including someone undercover using their choice of Criminal Minds characters! Reader, Original Character, Character/Character ships, Gen/Platonic fics are allowed! Please check out the Rules below the Keep Reading.

General Prompts 🔍

Characters go undercover as a married couple.

A goes undercover as an escort to gain intel on B.

A feigns distress while undercover and is surprised when B saves them.

A goes undercover as a sex worker. B is shocked by their sexual persona.

Halloween masks offer the perfect opportunity to snoop on your coworkers.

A is excelling at their undercover work... until B shows up, also undercover.

Character goes undercover to a mystic who immediately identifies them as a spy.

A struggles with the more psychopathic aspects of their undercover work. B doesn't.

Character becomes close with their agent handler... they've never felt so cared for before.

Character is an investigative journalist trying to learn about the inner workings of the BAU.

It would be a lot easier to pretend if Character wasn't actually in love with their partner.

A thinks they've successfully tricked B... when B leans forward and speaks directly into their wire.

Character is surprised when their undercover partner is very good at pretending to be in love with them.

A becomes worries when B gets injured on an undercover mission that they were supposed to go on instead.

Character goes undercover as a stripper. This is how everyone learns they already knew how to pole dance.

Characters are both undercover, but think the other is in the organization they're investigating. They learn nothing.

Having been forcibly subjected to a few dozen rounds of proship wank, I have no choice but to conclude that no proshipper is truly proship. Every time someone points out any hypocrisy or flawed logic or uncivil behaviour from a proshipper or a proship community, everyone flocks around to say that they're not *really* proship, because REAL proshippers would never do such a thing or hold suck a belief.

As far as I can tell, the only people who actually meet the definition of the true meaning of proship are the crusty old radicals who laugh at the term. One of your regulars has a line about being "secret third thing: too hardcore for proshippers"? Yeah, that.

No proshipper would ever make a negative assumption about someone's tastes in fic. So all the ones who do aren't really proship.

No proshipper would ever mock someone for their squicks. All the ones who do are acutally just antis.

No proshipper would ever insist that people must ship their OTP. So all the ones who do aren't really proship.

No proshipper would ever send flames. So all the ones that are getting into flamewars with antis are actually just antis themselves.

And some of them are even directly contradictory, like how no proshipper would ever assume that a darkfic is the author coping with trauma, but also every proshipper understands that darkfic is a necessary trauma coping mechanism.

You bundle all that No True Scotsman stuff together and are left with literally nothing. The sum of all these parts is "no proshipper would ever do anything ever"

The word is utterly meaningless, you see someone say their proship and it's a [three siced] cointoss if they mean "I'm against cyberbullying" or "I like darkfic" or "I like picking fights with trolls".

Bonus cointoss for if the "I like darkfic" ones mean "I like THIS darkfic, but that THAT darkfic is Bad Ackshually" or "I like darkfic and you're Bad Ackshually if you're squiked by it"

And I'll agree that the "proship doesn't extend to ~icky~ things like 5 year age gaps and RPF!" idiots really are just antis, but there are so god damn many of them that they've undermined what the words mean.

The only True Proshippers are the oldschool kinktomato guys, and they're getting harassed for not using the term "proship"!

Hils Watches Kingdom: Legendary War - Ep 6 (Sports Day)

I've got my next drama lined up to start tomorrow but a few days ago someone on Bluesky mentioned the sports day episode of Kingdom and I had a sudden urge to watch this again.

I watched this when it first aired back in 2021 and I was still a baby Atiny back then. I think San and Wooyoung were the only members of Ateez I could name on sight, and similarly with Stray Kids I only knew Felix and Chan.

So I thought it might be fun to watch this one again now that I know who everyone is. I remember this episode being super fun and very chill compared to the more competitive episodes.

Oh, yeah, I forgot Wooyoung and Changbin basically spend this whole thing flirting with each other because they're not participating

Delighted that Stray Kids and Ateez ended up on the same team

Oh Wooyoung is taking part he's just hosting as well. As you can see I remember basically nothing about this

Wait, San and Seonghwa both failed the lowest level vault?? Really??? I mean I guess this was back when San was still tiny but I'm surprised about Seonghwa. Especially when Hongjoong, who is tiny, apparently cleared it

Wooyoung making sure to use is mic so all the boys he's flirting with know he thinks they're hot

I love that Eunkwang says true love (Changbin is saying he's worried Wooyoung will get hurt), Changbin agrees, and the following caption is like 'true friendship not true love no homo'

This is what I remember most about this episode. Even though technically they are competing against each other everyone just ends up supporting each other

The best thing about watching this after so much time is I genuinely can't remember who did well. So I'm losing my mind along with everyone else 😂

One thing I found out when I was talking about this on Bluesky is someone wrote a 15k Yunho/Minhyuk fic and it's actually really good!

So he sighs, arm falling limp. His grip is still tight around the lighter.

One request. Campbell had one single request of him, and he can't even bring himself to fucking do it. How pathetic, really

"Pardon?"

"I can't do it!"

Perhaps it's dumb to shout at something that's close to being a god, but he can't help it. He's just so damn tired and angry.

Today has been a nightmare. He'd give anything to go back to blissful ignorance.

A hand slowly intertwines with his own.

Well, almost anything

"Are you alright dear?"

All of his posturing was dropped. There's only that cloying concern from before. It makes him want to cry.

"No"

Ruin draws him into a hug, pulling him down until he can hide in his neck. Eclipse doesn't bother fighting.

"I know, that was a stupid question. I should have thought more of this through. But it's okay love. You will be fine"

But not anyone else. Only him.

It's a heavy weight to bear

"Now if only you could silence the silly little worries in your head! They're bad for you."

A hand begins gently cradling through his rays, and he relaxes with a sigh. There's no point in trying to fight this. There's no point in trying to fight the warmth he feels.

How could he have caught the eye of such an extraordinary and ethereal creature?

Ruin begins pulling away, but he doesn't want to let go. He doesn't feel ready to.

"It's alright love. I'm not going anywhere. I just want to get us away from here. To maybe your room?"

"My room?"

"Of course! You didn't think I didn't preserve it, did you?"

Somehow that makes him feel bashful. The little chuckle from his lover makes him feel warm.

"Come now dear! Let us cuddle. And maybe later we can try... something else too~"

The wink is exaggerated, but the heat is still in those mismatched optics. It makes him shiver.

Perhaps this wasn't such a bad thing...

There are only so many fanfics that use the entirety of DC as cardboard cutouts to prop up bat family characters that I can read before I go berserk.

I swear to god. Every character that has ever been shipped with a bat or coexists on the same team as a bat is owed an apology.

How many Young Justice fanfics that solely revolve around Tim must exist? How many Titans fanfics centered only on Dick? Why is it a herculean task to find a Justice League fanfic without Bruce as the main character?

And then even when you do find a fic that seems like it's balanced, everything still revolves around the bat. Like Kon, Cassie and Bart have nothing else going on in their lives except Tim and Tim's issues or thinking about Tim. Like Donna and Wally and Roy just cannot function if they aren't spending every waking moment thinking about Dick.

I'm... Guys. I'm at my limit. I swear to god. We need to make a Batman tag and surgically remove all these fics and quarantine them there. We'll keep the actual DC fics and they can do whatever the fuck they want in their own tag. It's getting ridiculous how hard it is to find fanfic that's actually DC related and isn't just 'The BatFam Show'.

au where brudick happens but they keep it VERY hidden to the point only cass knows but she thinks everyone does cause to her it's so obvious, so one day on their monthly family dinner that no one misses she ask's them why they have different rooms when they always go to eachother during the night. What do you think would happen? Would they deny deny deny? would they ask her what she's talking about? how does everyone else react to this revelation? do the other heroes find out? do they have opinions about it?

I LOVE THIS SHIT. truly love Cass noticing things she shouldn't and assuming they're common knowledge, it's my fave flavor. this is such a fun idea-

so Cass knows from like, day one. and obviously she never says anything bc she assumes this is normal. in a way, the weird vibes between Bruce and Dick *are* normalized to the Batfam, everyone sort of. tiptoes around their weirdness (even if they don't know it's romantic) so Cass learns to do the same. she doesn't mention it bc no one mentions Bruce and Dick's bond, it's only ever acknowledged with shared looks. it takes years before she has the courage to ask and i think it's fun if she asks for an utterly mundane reason. like, Alfred makes a teasing remark about washing everyone's bedsheets and what a task that is, and Cass just drops it into conversation that Dick's bed is rarely used because he's always in Bruce's, so that must make it easier to handle.

Dick was try to play it off as a joke. just the mention would make Bruce go silent, for once finally not having a contingency plan on how to handle something. he and Dick were never supposed to happen in the first place, it was so accidental he's never considered the possibility of someone finding out bc they're so careful, though in hindsight, of course he should've known Cass would've figured it out. Dick would awkwardly laugh, try to say something to the effect of "very funny, but we're not *that* close haha" just to break the tension. Cass doesn't give in, though. she's not the best at social cues and doesn't understand the desperate look Dick is giving her, trying to get her to drop it. she pushes on and corrects Dick, insisting she doesn't judge them for it. Bruce would finally snap back into reality and give a more serious denial, quickly changing the conversation before anyone else can press.

the issue is, the minute Cass says it out loud, it becomes *so* obvious. especially to Tim, who has the biggest "oh my GOD" lightbulb moment of his life. there is no unseeing it. it takes him a while to process how he feels about it, the same with everyone else. for a week, there's an obvious tension. no one will say anything, but everyone knows and is trying to sit with it to decide how they feel. it's not a simple situation to feel one way or another about. that's when the questions start. Tim asks Dick questions, Alfred asks Bruce questions. how old was Dick, how did it happen, all the things Dick and Bruce have never wanted to have to answer. bc none of the questions have clean answers. it was a slow and gradual relationship. sure, they can say the first time they slept together, but that doesn't *really* count as the start of things. the start goes back to when Dick was still a teenager, probably underage. even if nothing happened, they both knew. and the way they dance around the questions makes that obvious.

most of the Batfamily i think, would begrudgingly accept it. it's too late to convince Bruce and Dick out of it now, and at the end of the day, Bruce and Dick will always choose each other over anyone else. fighting it just increases the chances of getting ostracized and pushed away by the two of them. feelings vary. i think Alfred would be the least happy about it because he was there when Dick was just a 10 yr old. everyone else only has memory of Dick as an adult, but Alfred watched Dick grow up, raised by Bruce, so he just can't shake that image. Tim sees it as one of those things you just have to accept about Batman, and carefully considers his role as Robin and makes sure he focuses on making sure Dick is happy/safe as well as Bruce. if nothing else, Tim will put his feelings aside to be the Emotional Support Child. Barbara would distance herself from the Batfam for a while just to sit on it, because she also saw Dick as a kid and it sits wrong with her. long talks with Dick convince her to let it go, but she does keep a *much* closer eye on Bruce to be sure this doesn't become a pattern. i think she'd enlist Cass to make sure Bruce never shows romantic/sexual attraction toward other Robins. Steph and Jason are equally apathetic toward it, being the ones who are most negative toward Bruce. they just shrug and go "yeah sounds like some shit Bruce would do". Damian's a bit of a toss-up. i think it'd really throw him for a loop and he'd be far more critical of Dick in the beginning, but once he approves of Dick, he'd *really* latch onto him.

i do think the rest of the hero community would find out. not on purpose, but the leak happens. Babs vents her feelings about it to Dinah, Helena, and Zinda. Tim mutters about it to the Titans. and Jason will tell anyone who asks because he doesn't have a rat's ass to give about Bruce's precious reputation. (if anything, he'd purposefully try to ruin Bruce with that info) the hero community... varies. i think Oliver would be the *most* pissed. Oliver is very similar to Bruce, in that he's taken in his share of strays, but he was objectively a lot better at it than Bruce. it causes a minor public scandal when Oliver drinks too much at some gala and just. publically beats the shit out of Bruce Wayne, incoherently talking about something to do with him being a creep. i could see Oliver rallying support from people like Barry and Arthur who also have young sidekicks and would agree it being fucked up. i don't think Bruce would be entirely ejected from the hero community, but he would be quietly removed as a chair member of the Justice League and have most of his power as a team leader stripped. no matter how much damage control Dick does, insisting he was an adult when anything real happened and he consented, no one can look at Bruce the same. sort of a bittersweet ending, Bruce and Dick are together and no one can take that from them, but there's still realistic reaction and blowback to it, which i personally think is a lot of fun.

Like yes, I do believe that everything is open to interpretation. I do believe that everyone should be allowed to ship whatever they want, because it's all made up and you should do what makes you happy

My interpretation is correct. My ships are correct. All other ships are disgusting. My headcanons are correct and if you don't agree with them or you have a headcanon that clashes with mine, I wish bug infestations in your house

I know these thoughts are wrong, and I'm being stupid. I know everyone is correct because there is no incorrect answer. But stupid autism dictates that it's MY hyperfixation, so I am automatically correct about it and everyone has to agree with me

I do not like the ship JonElias. I find it very icky. I think that people should be allowed to ship that, if that's what they're into. If I see it or hear about it though, I have to take several minutes away from the Internet and maybe scream a little because it makes me feel so icky. If you ship JonElias, it doesn't matter if you're a cool person or not, it doesn't matter if I have the tag blocked so I don't see it anyways, I literally cannot like you. It's so stupid. I could block a really really cool person just for liking a ship that I don't. It's ridiculous

I'm just. So damn annoyed. I feel bad for the mean thoughts I get about people who have different opinions than me, but I literally can't stop them. It's so frustrating
