hey anon!! you're not doing anything wrong, I don't think. Tumblr can be really fickle based on what fics get notes, and it has nothing to do with the quality of your work most of the time. it can be completely random.

Also it can sometimes be that there's so much activity in certain tags, it's hard to find your own stuff, you know? Just know that notes are not what makes a fic good!

This is why I love how T. Kingfisher can write fantasy novels that are also loveable romances but almost every one of them has one scene where she introduces some really messed up thing that exists in this fantasy world, describes it in a really disturbing encounter, and then just moves on with the story. And you think, oh yeah, she writes horror too doesn't she.

I’ve said this before but I think all sci-fi and fantasy adventure needs a little bit of horror as seasoning. It doesn’t need to be full sci-fi horror or fantasy horror but a little bit of scary adds flavor. Build a world and then explore the fucked up implications of that world a little bit
