Conclusion: Russians've never change. They haven't ever think about doing something horrendous.
For People of the West, who might forgot that pure evil exist
by Easy Rider
For those surprised by pictures from Bucha, Izyum, Mariupol, Kharkiv and other Ukrainian city attacked by russians, just a kindly reminder.
1570. ivan the terrible terminates autonomy of Veliky Novgorod. Women and children were massacred, churches burnt and looted. About 20 thousand people died, numerous were deported. Following famine did the rest.
1708. piotr the great destroys Kozak Hetmanate, a predecessor of an independent Ukraine. It capital, Batouryn was burnt and all inhabitants including women and children, executed.
1794. russian army conquers Warsaw, a last act of Poland's partitions. Inhabitants of Praga, the eastern Warsaw suburb, including women and children are massacred. Up-to 20 thousand died. suvorov, russian commander-in-chief is promoted to field marshal by catherine the great.
1863-1864. Repressions after January Rising on the territories of the former Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Governor General of Vilna, muravyov nicknamed 'hangman' bans Latin alphabet, executes publicly combatants and deports 9.000 of them to Siberia, imposes enormous contributions.
1917-1920 Red terror on the Polish and Ukrainian territories during bolshevik takeover, Polish-russian War and Ukrainian-russian War. For 3 years looting, raping and killing raged between Vistula and Dnipro, prisoners of war were routinely killed by the red army.
1932-1933. Holodomor. Terror famine, purposely induced by stalin on the territory of Ukraine resulted millions of deaths according to lowest estimates and up-to 10 millions according to the highest. Though directed against landowners, it affected mostly ethnic Ukrainians.
1939-1941. soviet occupation of eastern Poland. Approx. 800.000 were deported to barrens in the North and East, many of them died. 7.000 were executed, 110.000 imprisoned, 150.000 forced to join the red army. Same policy was pursued by the ussr in the annexed Baltic countries.
1941. red army forced to retreat by advancing Wehrmacht, so chekists however still had time to execute (mostly political) prisoners in the cities of soviet occupied Ukranian, Polish, Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian territories. At least 10.000 were hastily shot.
1943. Discovery of mass graves in Katyń, at that time occupied by the Germans. At least 21.768 Polish citizens, mostly officers and policemen were shot by chekists in 1940. Nazi propaganda exploits the massacre, but stalin coldly denies everything and accuses Germany of the killings.
1944-1945. Europe. Mass rapes were notorious on every territory 'liberated' by the red army. Not only in Germany which was to be 'punished' but also in Poland, where mass-raping in 1945 led to a pandemic of sexually transmitted diseases. Raped were women 9-80, often gang-raped.
1945-1947. In all countries 'liberated' by ussr, soviet security forces hunted down all who might oppose the communist rule. In Poland only, 6.000 were executed after mock trials and some 100.000 repressed; most of them soldiers of the anti-Nazi resistance and war heroes.
1956. Hungarian revolution against soviet occupation, the red army intervenes. 22.000 imprisoned, about 300 executed. Approx. 200.000 flee Hungary
1968. Prague demands autonomy, the red army intervenes. Approx 100 people killed. 270.000 emigrate.
1979-1989. soviet intervention in Afghanistan. Approx. 1,5 million of inhabitants murdered, 90% of them civilians. Country was completely destroyed. Mass killings were conducted on a regular basis (check Laghman, Kulchabat, Rauzdi, Padkhwab-e Shana massacres), toys were set as booby traps.
1994-1996 and 1999-2000. Two Chechen Wars. Up to 100.000 murdered, mostly civilians. Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, destroyed. Filtration camps, kidnappings, tortures. Gang rape as purposeful torture method against men. 70% of households destroyed.
2008. russian war against Georgia has started. Bombing of civilian high populated places with cluster bombs. Oh, wait, it was an unprovoked attack on a sovereign state, but somehow nobody cared (hello UN).
2014. russian war against Ukraine has started. Until 24 February 2022 total number of civilians killed was estimated at 4.317. Illegal detention, abduction tortures and intimidation of people contesting by russian occupants were routine. Mass graves were discovered on the territories liberated by Ukraine.
So, next time you are going to be 'surprised' and 'shocked' by the achievements of russian army, russian political leadership or russia in overall, please don't say that you didn't know or didn't expected.
The truly pure evil exists.

You know what? You know what I think?
I think that if we lived as we were meant to, in larger intimate ("extended family") groups and with more shared labor and time to do it (UBI NOW) people like me would not feel so useless and burdensome because there would be people around to help and to do what neurodivergent people can't while making valuable space for the neurodivergent to do what they ARE good at.
The way we live right now, all right, the way we live right now forces units of two adults to be able to do EVERYTHING or PAY to have someone come do it for them. I have to do the housework. I have to do it! But I am having to do a million different things and most of them I am not good at. I suck at them.
I wouldn't feel like shit, okay, if I had more than one other person around who was not a child and who could do the things I can't, like do the yard and cook and do repairs and basic maintenance; and someone else to split everything else that I like but is too much for me. It would free me to do what I am good at and enjoy. Cleaning, as in the sink and toilet, the windows, the blinds. Taking out trash. Folding, hanging, and sorting laundry.
But because all the shit I can do often relies on other shit being done first, and I can't do or have trouble doing those things, the shit I can do often can't be done. And even the shit I can do, I can't do ALL of it. So I can't keep up, and things get very bad.
We aren't meant to live like this. We are not meant to live like this.
That thought hurts so much because being able to flee the birth family is integral to survival for so many people. I'm so afraid that living in larger family groups would create more opportunities for, say, queer kids to be isolated, rejected, bullied, and abused. But if we gave people enough money to survive, and stopped considering children the property of their parents with no system in place to help them escape bad situations except a system that is often just as bad, just different.
I'm aware that communes and collectives aren't all that successful and are kind of a joke. I don't mean that. I mean a fundamental shift to multigenerational families where taking in "strays" (which my family did) is also normalized so people escaping abuse into existing households was accepted, with these families centered in maybe a couple of different larger residences so not everyone has to buy and maintain their own fucking washing machine and vacuum cleaner, and so people can benefit from large group meals that yield leftovers, and so child and elder care can also be centralized.
Then disabled people and the neurodivergent and sick and injured people, and pregnant people, and grieving people, would not have to either labor through all those stressors or consign themselves to living off an unlivable pittance or being put under legal guardianship.
I'm not saying anything new. People live like this in other parts of the world and maybe it sucks and I am wrong. But I'm just really mad right now because I can either do laundry or clean the sink but not both, and I really think we could improve society somewhat by making it so I did not have to choose one without sacrificing the other.
#im feverish feeling (not a real fever just malaise that i have no other way to describe) from the IBS (which can affect you like that#)#and i don't actually want to do ANYTHING#i would have to even living with others but it would be easier#at the very least i wouldn't have had to clean the microwave earlier which is hard because my arms are like the size of a meerkat's#and i can only reach the back with my fingertips#where is my BF in all this?#WORKING FULL TIME WITH BACK PAIN#yes i AM going to want him to have to do as little as possible when he comes home#he's neurodivergent too and struggles with the same shit#it's all a mess#we are doing way better i didn't realize how deep a drain three very sick cats were#but there's still only two of us#if you are disabled physically OR MENTALLY you should at least get in-home household help once a week or so#there's places that do that but the limitations are usually severe and always rule me out#because im not single im not an elder im not a veteran and im not physically disabled#if we have to ration that sort of thing i can see how on the whole it is more caring to allocate those resources to for example elders#but the fact that i celebrate what help there is doesn't mean i don't get mad that more people can't access it#is2g if i was functional enough snd physically sound enough i would start a charity that did intervention cleaning for people like us#who have fallen behind and can't catch up but can MAINTAIN#and who helped people clean for a few months during and after an illness pregnancy trauma major loss etc. so they could stay on their feet

I read mean Rudy and instantly started foaming at the mouth PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEWSEPLEASE- /ref
It's no secret that Alejandro likes them mean, if he wanted someone who treated him with the bare minimum of respect during sex then he'd pick one of the many people who keep openly thirsting after him.
He doesn't want that, he hasn't wanted that since the day they were in their twenties and he watched Rodolfo spit at a man who was getting handsy with women in a bar and had spent the next few months pathetically jerking off to the memory.
Somewhere between adjusting his knee on the bed to get a better angle and Rudy gutting at him for daring to make a noise as he fucked the man within an inch of his life, Alejandro wondered what it would take to get the other man to spit on him.
It wasn't the first time they'd done this and it was far from the last given how much enjoyment they both got from it.
Rodolfo was lying on his front, a book resting on the pillow in front of him as he lazily flipped through the pages. Alejandro had no idea if he was actually reading it or if it was just an act but knowing the other man, he probably was. The only indication that Rudy was even enjoying himself was the halfhearted rolling of his hips against the sheets as he sought out some feeling of friction against his cock.
Alejandro had no idea how the sergeant major could do it, act so uninterested and stay so fucking quiet when just last night he'd been moaning so loudly that Alejandro had slapped a hand over his mouth to keep anyone walking in on their superior fucking his second in command bent over his desk.
But the man under him lets out another sigh of annoyance as Alejandro groans, a wordless warning to shut the fuck up. The only thing it achieves is leaving Alejandro's hips stuttering as he grinds his cock into his partner's hole.
His hand squeezes Rodolfo's hip so tightly that he'd likely leave finger-shaped bruises along the tanned skin. Some men would see it as a claim, Rudy would look at them and shake his head before calling Alejandro a needy, desperate thing and Alejandro would pretend that neither of them had noticed how obviously hard his cock is in his pants.
Rudy turns to glance at him, looking at him with disinterest that borders on blatant disdain and Alejandro almost cums right there. He knows deep down it's an act, Rodolfo plays bored well and uses it to his advantage but he looks like he wants to bite Alejandro and it's almost too much.
He can feel the tension build in his legs as his thrusts start to become almost frantic in nature, splaying a hand out flat over Rudy's back to keep him where he wants him as his hips meet the plump meat of Rodolfo's ass.
When he hears the faint hitch in Rudy's breath he knows they're both close, the other man clenches tightly around him and gives up any pretence of caring about the book under his hands.
He's growling out the other man's name in quiet bursts before he realises it, nails digging into his hip as he pushes them both closer to the edge. He just needs that little bit more.
He gets it when Rodolfo's hand grabs at the pillow, knuckles whitening and he hears the sharp bite in the other man's voice.
"I don't remember giving you permission to speak, colonel."
Somewhere in the minutes fucked out bliss after he cums he'll ask Rudy if he wants Alejandro to blow him and the other man will turn to lie on his back, wordlessly showing his partner the drying cum on his abdomen in response.
#alejandro vargas#rodolfo rudy parra#rodolfo parra#alerudy#sorry this is just like a very few short smutty paragraphs instead of like examples of mean rudy but it came to me mid cig#also noone come for me with this im not used to writing anything like this#im in new territory#alejandro might get off on being treated like a bother but rudy gets off on acting bothered#theyre perfect for eachother

this is something i think about so often. people love to pin all of the blame on phannies for invasive and weird behavior but everyone forgets how people that were supposed to be dan and phil’s colleagues, their equals, their friends even were doing a lot of the same shit on a much wider scale to much larger audiences than what the average phannie had
YEP!!
#it makes me feel sick if i think about it too hard#the bbc radio coworkers discussing who is top/bottom between dan and phil live on air...#while they weren't even there to stop them or spin the conversation#just.. brutal#there's a million examples but that one sticks out to me because of how extremely unprofessional it was#there's very few other careers where that kind of conversation would fly at work

Was thinking today about Cherry Magic Thailand, and all respect to the writing (which deftly navigated the challenging task of adapting a full-on classic) and the rest of the cast and crew, but has any QL series' success hinged so much on a single actor going above and beyond in a performance as Cherry Magic Thailand does on Tay Tawan's portrayal of Karan???
That character could have fallen so detrimentally flat. He is perfection personified. Even after Achi discovers his so-called 'imperfections' (which are just that he sings bad and is crushing extra hard on Achi), the writing doesn't ever let Karan come off his pedestal. He remains put together, impossibly patient, and admirably righteous. His stress in life is that people don't respect his hard work because he's so beautiful! This character, in theory, should not really strike an audience as likeable. The writers could have used the one facet of his family-drama that emerges in the penultimate episode to build a deeper character in the writing, but elect not to even hint at it any earlier in the series.
So much heavy lifting is left to Tay, and the performance is a wonder to behold. Tay Tawan is certainly attractive in the way Karan is supposed to be attractive--fit, tall, handsome--but Tay's face and earnest dorky demeanor are unique in a way that seem far too rare in the influencer era. The breadth of his nose, the goofy joy in his smile, the clownish clumsiness, the nerdiness of his interests (the GMMTV actor most likely to be reposting a popular science article or rare animal sighting): Tay brings all of these elements of himself to bear on the poised idol of Karan, playing all the parts of the romantic hero while letting his own characteristics distill onto it so that the character actually contains valuable tension for the audience between his faultlessness and the slow reveal of his sincerity. That dynamic lies at the core of the show, and it's a less explored one in media, so all the more challenging to do.
But Tay understands the assignment. He goes full-in when Achi hears Karan's inner voice, squealing and talking manically fast (a real-life Tay Tawanism as well as a wonderful connection to Japanese performance styles). Once the characters begin their romance, so much effort is put in to have Karan looking at Achi, not just with love, but with the deepest gratitude. That's what most often had me crying. In fact, it often looked like Karan was on the verge of happy tears, overwhelmed by the fortune to love and be allowed to love Achi.
Being able to appreciate Karan's sincerity opens up an avenue for the audience to care about his challenges that on the surface seem so superficial. Tay is able to take this character's struggle to be taken seriously and make it as worthy and pitiable as any narrative about women in the workplace struggling with that issue, and that's not an easy feat in this day and age. Whether in Karan's affections or disappointments, Tay exhibits such humility and unabashedness in his performance throughout the series, it renders the otherwise familiar messages about the value of the small unappreciated things in the world as enchanted and life-changing.
And incredibly amongst all this, the series REQUIRES by its very title for Karan to have a sex drive, and even that desire threads through Tay's portrayal of the character as he interacts with Achi, maintaining an incredible balance between a fun and dorky excitement about sex and a potent sensuality (it's such a great sex scene when it finally comes).
Tay took a paragon and made him such a fully fleshed-out and realized character. I just can't imagine the series working without such a masterfully crafted performance. The whole cast did great work, don't get me wrong. Tay's is just one of those magical reminders about what the art of acting can achieve.
#cherry magic thailand#cherry magic#karanachi#joy as an aesthetic value#very few times do we get to have performances that explore kindness with so much depth#Amy Adams in Junebug and Sally Hawkins in Happy-Go-Lucky and Yoon Jeong-Hee in Poetry and Setsuko Hara in Ozu's films are great examples th#just all women...#we could maybe add Joe Pera and Andy Griffith to that list on the men's side#Tay Tawan's performance just feels so special#taynew#tay tawan#specifically avoided tay's performances when i first got into bl tbh and i was soooo wrong#he brings very special kinds of queerness to roles for me#and to life lol

also yes i think you should talk about dipcifica i love the old man yaoi as much as the next guy but i also will always crave this kind of "coming of age" love story
Glad to comply! Here are my points about why Dipcifica is canon and endgame and everything:
1) Dipper and Pacifica are a walking "enemies to friends to lovers" trope. It literally started with Dipper saying to her face he doesn't like her, what's more clichè than that? When he said it, all I could hear was "We will definitely become a thing in the future".
And guess what? After a while, Dipper changed his mind: now he doesn't think Pacifica is the worst anymore. The next step is admitting she's great, asking her out and becoming a couple.
2) "Northwest Mansion Mystery" is basically a huge Dipcifica manifesto, thanks to the introduction of more tropes like:
the characters are put into nice suits
Pacifica fixes Dipper's clothes like a good wife
these two share an adventure together - which is universally something that would strengthen the bond between two people
their daring escape ends with a hug, given out of a sincere emotional reaction
the hug is followed by some cute awkwardness (especially from Pacifica's side)
Dipper and Pacifica share a heartfelt moment in which she reveals her insecurities, something we can be 99% sure she doesn't usually do. Also because... with whom can she share them? Her parents? Her supposed friends?
Dipper changes his mind about Pacifica after understanding her a bit more (which is always the interlude for the development of romantic feelings)
Pacifica finds the strength to do the right thing, only after Dipper sacrifices himself
the episode ends with them having fun together, laughing and enjoying their time. Also, it's implied they probably spent some time after the party to clean up the mess they made - so who knows? Maybe they shared some more time together and talked a lot more.
I mean... I've seen love stories start with less than that.
3) Dipper and Pacifica have another adventure together in Lost Legends. The formula is similar to Northwest Mansion Mystery: Pacifica has an issue (caused by her shitty parents), Dipper doesn't understand what her problem is, they share a heartfelt moment in which she reveals her weakness, Dipper tells all the right things, they hug, Pacifica does the right thing.
This is another way to reconfirm what the episode in the series already told us: these two have chemistry. They are meant to be. They are a walking enemies to friends to lovers trope - with a side dish of "slow burn" too. And we all love slow-burn stories <3
But this adventure shows us something else: how things have changed since Northwest Mansion Mystery and especially how Dipper's attitude has evolved towards Pacifica. In the episode, he is still very wary of her and makes it clear multiple times that he dislikes her.
Now he says this:
This is basically the Dipcifica equivalent of "I once considered him the center of my life, the sun in my galaxy", only with less toxic old men yaoi and more wholesomeness
it shows how Dipper's attitude is more mature
it implies he can and will develop romantic feelings for her. I mean, look at it: "I've noticed another side of you", "I see the real one and you're more than a pretty face"... gosh, if Pacifica hadn't fallen in love before, she definitely did after that.
it also shows Dipper's growth regarding women: my boy went from making huge, complex plans to talk to them, to lying to get random girls, to saying the truth in such a smooth way. He's great with girls when he doesn't try, he makes me so proud <3
4) Now I know what you think: great points, Bea, but does this couple have Mabel's approval stamp? Billford got it with Mabel calling Bill a clingy ex and telling him to get a crush on someone else's Grunkle. Does Dipcifica have Mabel's approval?
The answer is yes:
Do I have to say anything else? I think Mabel already said anything. Dipper and Pacifica are. A. Thing.
And yes, I know what you might say: they are kids! Sure they are, but that doesn't mean there can't be anything in the future. There is time for them to grow and for these feelings to develop. What we saw in the series and in Lost Legends are the crumbs, the foundation of something bigger that can evolve in the future.
And this is a great foundation because it's plausible and stable. Dipper and Pacifica's interactions never sound forced or out of character: on the contrary, they are built in a way that conciliates both personalities and justifies their changes and evolution.
If we can easily imagine a future for them, it's because their change is organic, it works in the long run - Pacifica can easily become better and better, while she works out her issue and shows the beautiful person she is. And Dipper can easily become more and more aware of what a great girl she is and start to develop deeper feelings for her. It's not impossible to imagine. It works.
And yes, this proves again how well Hirsch developed Gravity Falls and its characters, if we can easily imagine a future for them just out of a few, well-built interactions.
#gravity falls#ask#dipper pines#pacific northwest#dipcifica#if you know what you're doing you don't need a ton of examples#just a few interactions are enough to prove your point#and dipcifica proves it very well#thanks anon for allowing me to ramble more about this series#I love to ramble about gravity falls <3#analysis

jews: this thing in fiction feels jew coded to me, this character/group has several parallels to jewish people and i see myself here :)
non-jews: nah, that aint right, its clearly coded to be this other thing/youre stretching so hard to find a connection that isnt there
jews: this thing in fiction falls into antisemitic tropes, this character/group has several common antisemitic tropes that have a long history of being used against my people, and i think we should really consider not using these tropes anymore/consider if theres a better way to go about making the same point without doing it in this specific way
non-jews: nah, that aint right, its clearly coded to be this other thing/youre stretching so hard to find a connection that isnt there
just something ive noticed
#my post#jewblr#jumblr#antisemitism#jewish#me trying to look up both positively(ish) and negatively jew coded characters/groups and finding people saying this EVERY TIME#the draenei from world of warcraft are so jew coded to me. in some ways not great but in other ways i think better#but i can either find few people agreeing with me about that#but even when i find people who agree. theres people replying to them that they disagree!#'the draenei actually make me think more of this other group. therefore they cant be jew coded' shut uppp shut the fuck uppp#they can literally be coded as multiple things LET ME HAVE THIS#AND YES in the very same game we have the goblins and i dont think i need to tell anyone how antisemitic goblins tend to be#the world of warcraft ones specifically...#that said theres obviously way more examples i just have brainrot#also a similar but slightly different issue is when we try to point out antisemitism but are just completely ignored altogether#COUGH AUGHK COUGH COUGH ME ABOUT DOCTOR 15S PREMIERE EPISODE WITH THE BLOOD LIBEL GOBLINS COUGH AUGH#sorry something in my throat#everyone was obsessed with the episode that was about racism but in the same season they had antisemitism and no one cared#👍 thanks tumblr#the racism episode was good. this isnt to take away from that. but we can have both conversations. they can coexist.

Do you conlang? I was wondering if you had naming languages (or possibly even more developed ones) for pulling the words you use. I tried to search your blog but didn't find anything, wouldn't be surprised if the feature is just busted tho. Your worldbuilding is wonderful and I particularly enjoy the anthropological and linguistic elements.
Ok the thing is I had kind of decided I was not going to do any conlanging because I don't feel like I'm equipped to do a good job of it, like was fully like "I'm just going to do JUST enough that it doesn't fail an immediate sniff test and is more thoughtful than just keysmashing and putting in vowels". And then have kinda been conlanging anyway (though not to a very deep and serious extent. I maybe have like....an above average comprehension of how language construction works via willingness to research, but that's not saying much, also I can never remember the meanings of most linguistic terms like 'frictives' or etc off the top of my head. I'm just kinda raw dogging it with a vague conceptualization of what these things mean)
I do at least have a naming language for Wardi (and more basic rules for other established languages) but the rudimentary forms of it were devised with methods much shakier and less linguistically viable than even the most basic naming language schemes, and I only went back over it LONG after I had already made a bunch of words so there's some inconsistencies with consonant presence and usage. (This can at least be justified because it IS a language that would have a lot of loanwords and would be heavily influenced by other language groups- Burri being by far the most significant, Highland-Finnic and Yuroma-Lowlands also being large contributors)
The 'method' I used was:
-Skip basic construction elements and fully move into devising necessary name words, with at least a Vibe of what consonants are going to be common and how pronunciation works -Identify some roots out of the established words and their meanings. Establish an ongoing glossary of known roots/words. -Construct new words based in root words, or as obvious extensions/variants of established words. -Get really involved in how the literal meanings of some words might not translate properly to english, mostly use this to produce a glossary of in-universe slang. -Realize that I probably should have at least some very basic internal consistency at this point. -Google search tutorials on writing a naming language. -Reverse engineer a naming language out of established words, and ascribe all remaining inconsistencies to being loanwords or just the mysteries of life or whatever.
I do at least have some strongly established pronunciation rules and a sense of broad regional dialect/accents.
-'ai' words are almost always pronounced with a long 'aye' sound.
-There is no 'Z' or 'X' sound, a Wardi speaker pronouncing 'zebra' would go for 'tsee-brah', and would attempt 'xylophone' as 'ssye-lohp-hon'
-'V' sounds are nearly absent and occur only in loanwords, and tend to be pronounced with a 'W' sound. 'Virsum' is a Highland word (pronounced 'veer-soom') denoting ancestry, a Wardi speaker would go 'weer-sum'.
-'Ch' spellings almost always imply a soft 'chuh' sound when appearing after an E, I, or O (pelatoche= pel-ah-toh-chey), but a hard 'kh' sound after an A or U (odomache= oh-doh-mah-khe). When at the start of a word, it's usually a soft 'ch' unless followed by an 'i' sound (chin (dog) is pronounced with a hard K 'khiin', cholem (salt) is pronounced with a soft Ch 'cho-lehm')
-Western Wardin has strong Burri cultural and linguistic influence, and a distinct accent- one of the most pronounced differences is use of the ñ sound in 'nn' words. The western city of Ephennos is pronounced 'ey-fey-nyos' by most residents, the southeastern city of Erubinnos is pronounced 'eh-roo-been-nos' by most residents. Palo's surname 'Apolynnon' is pronounced 'A-puh-lee-nyon' in the Burri and western Wardi dialects (which is the 'proper' pronunciation, given that it's a Kos name), but will generally be spoken as 'Ah-poh-leen-non' in the south and east.
-R's are rolled in Highland-Finnic words. Rolling R's is common in far northern rural Wardi dialects but no others. Most urban Wardi speakers consider rolling R's sort of a hick thing, and often think it sounds stupid or at least uneducated. (Brakul's name should be pronounced with a brief rolled 'r', short 'ah' and long 'uul', but is generally being pronounced by his south-southeastern compatriots with a long unrolled 'Brah' sound).
Anyway not really a sturdy construction that will hold up to the scrutiny of someone well equipped for linguistics but not pure bullshit either.
#I actually did just make a post about this on my sideblog LOL I think in spite of my deciding not to conlang this is going to go full#full conlanging at some point#The main issue is that the narrative/dialogue is being written as an english 'translation' (IE the characters are speaking in their actual#tongues and it's being translated to english with accurate meaning but non-literal treatment)#Which you might say like 'Uh Yeah No Shit' but I think approaching it with that mindset at the forefront does have a different effect than#just fully writing in english. Like there's some mindfulness to what they actually might be saying and what literal meanings should be#retained to form a better understanding of the culture and what should be 'translated' non-literally but with accurate meaning#(And what should be not translated at all)#But yeah there's very little motivation for conlanging besides Pure Fun because VERY few Wardi words beyond animal/people/place names#will make it into the actual text. Like the only things I leave 'untranslated' are very key or untranslatable concepts that will be#better understood through implication than attempts to convey the meaning in english#Like the epithet 'ganmachen' is used to compliment positive traits associated with the ox zodiac sign or affectionately tease#negative ones. This idea can be established pretty naturally without exposition dumps because the zodiac signs are of cultural#importance and will come up frequently. The meaning can get across to the reader pretty well if properly set up.#So like leaving it as 'ganmachen' you can get 'oh this is an affectionate reference to an auspicious zodiac sign' but translating#it as the actual meaning of 'ox-faced' is inevitably going to come across as 'you look like a cow' regardless of any zodiac angle#^(pretty much retyped tags from other post)#Another aspect is there's a few characters that have Wardi as a second language and some of whom don't have a solid grasp on it#And I want to convey this in dialogue (which is being written in english) but I don't want it to just be like. Random '''broken''' english#like I want there to be an internal consistency to what parts of the language they have difficulties with (which then has implications for#how each language's grammar/conjugation/etc works). Like Brakul is fairly fluent in Wardi at the time of the story but still struggles#with some of the conjugation (which is inflectional in Wardi) especially future/preterite tense. So he'll sometimes just use the#verb unconjugated or inappropriately in present tense. Though this doesn't come across as starkly in text because it's#written in english. Like his future tense Wardi is depicted as like 'I am to talk with him later' instead of 'I'll talk with him later'#Which sounds unnatural but not like fully incorrect#But it would sound much more Off in Wardi. Spanish might be a better example like it would be like him approaching it with#'Voy a hablar con él más tarde' or maybe 'Hablo con él más tarde' instead of 'Hablaré con él más tarde'#(I THINK. I'm not a fluent spanish speaker sorry if the latter has anything wrong with it too)

ADHD really does put everything at equal levels of importance, huh? Like I'll have an email I need to write that'll take maybe 10 minutes, and getting that done will alleviate 6 months of stress. Then I'll notice a sock on the floor I need to put away. Then I'll get the strong conviction that it's up to me to cure cancer. And my brain will tell me that I need to do all of them at once, start and finish them all in the time span of 0 seconds, and my executive dysfunction will throw up its hands and do none of the above.
#adhd#actuallyadhd#executive dysfunction#examples were courtesy of my partner. it made me laugh so hard because i've never heard anything more accurate#i'll read stuff like ''adhd makes it difficult to prioritize things!'' and i never paid that much attention because i was like#''i can easily sort things into categories. it's just the doing them that's the issue.''#but then i realized. that the REASON doing things is an issue is because it's not happening at the conscious logical level#it's happening at a nearly-subconscious rapid fire in-the-moment response time#i've been working a lot on my adhd these past few months & have also been meditating a lot lately and it's been making my awareness more an#more broad and precise#and at this point i'm wondering if this is straight up the cause of my adhd. the brain putting absolutely everything at the same ''URGENT#URGENT URGENT'' level. since i can't do everything in the world at the same time at infinite speed and perfection#i'm thrown into ''freeze mode''. and that's also why we've learned to weaponize fear against ourself as a motivator. because it forces the#task we're trying to do into front view. makes it take priority over everything else we're scared of not doing.#we've been working on a lot of useful coping skills. haven't entirely figured out how to manage this yet but the awareness itself has#been very useful.

im just gonna say whats on my mind feel free to ignore this post its kinda petty but i just have to let it out
#i feel like simblr has become very picky and there's very obviously favourites#and while i do feel like this has always been the case ive noticed it a lot more recently#and i think like an example of this is the simblr question of the day and like while i know its just supposed to be a fun little thing#i do feel like its very picky#and i feel like it can make people feel excluded (myself included)#because ofc i understand its unrealistic to send it to everyone#however that still doesnt take away from the fact it excludes a lot of people#i feel like instead of just sending it to a select few people it could be more of an ask chain#like for instance “send this to 5 other simblrs”#because then it feels like more of a thing within the community#idk just#something thats been on my mind#anyway this is probably an unpopular opinion and im probably going to get a lot of people mad at me for this but#idk#butter's thoughts#delete later
