Myocarditis was always considered a very serious condition -- until it came out that the COVID vaccines were causing it, that is. Then they started saying, "Myocarditis is a very rare and mild side effect, which resolves quickly." The heart doesn't heal like other tissues, but creates permanent scars resulting in permanent impaired function. It was absolutely inexcusable to push these novel, experimental mRNA vaccines on young, healthy people -- given their vanishingly low risks of severe outcomes from the virus.
This study shows the obvious -- a majority of who got myocarditits from the vaccines have permanent heart damage. (Also, it's extremely rare for the virus to cause myocarditis -- the risk is much higher with the mRNA shots.)

Not Magic, but this fondly reminds me of
Just saw someone say that magic doesn’t have “gimmick cards” and like I don’t play magic but i know for a fact that they do have gimmick cards and they’re released in sets
#I remember getting the 2012 starter pack and thinking this was the best card ever and always wanting to play it because IT FUN!!!#God Ninjago’s OG spinners had it all and despite my desire to see them return none of the subsequent iterations had that same charm nor#system to them that made the originals so compelling... — bad sanses [crescents] redesign
heyy! thought i'd make a lil debut/intro to my canon utmv (named blue's verse bc i am So Original) starting from night and the gang :]
if anyone has any questions about my verse, you're more than welcomed to ask!! i'd be happy to talk about these skellies bc they occupy most of my brain rn
Killer goes by Shiv while Horror goes by Axe based on their main weapons. Dust goes by Lav, short for Lavender. Nightmare still uses the same name, but the boys always call him Night :]
clothing notes (and extras):
Shiv is the one with the most fashion sense, but even he's been lazy and decided to just walk around wearing a funny t-shirt and shorts sometimes. Definitely the one who gets everyone clothes during supply runs (yes he's fashion besties with plum). Likes clothes with many pockets for storage, too! Whether that's got snacks or daggers in them, you'll just have to dig around yourself /lh
Axe wears lumberjack/farmer-esque clothing to hint at his connection to Farmtale! Farmtale is protected by Nightmare (in secret) as it harbors the last of Horrortale's survivors— the AU was too corrupted to sustain itself— while also being the Crescents' main food supply. The patched jeans and sleeveless vest are actually gifts from the Farm brothers. Them and Axe (+ Axe's brother, Oak) are very close, subsequently making Farmtale a second home to the Crescents.
Lav prefers oversized clothing and probably likes to use weighted blankets to ground himself. Shiv dresses him up most, and Lav just tells him to get dark/neutral clothes with purple accents for him. It feels nice to be taken care of. Usually wears a beanie/cap when he’s at home and is without his hood (has the shortest tail out of the trio, hides it well).
Night prefers fancy-casual because he knows how it feels to wear clothes that didn't fit/weren't comfy for him (still has his old crown, somewhere..). Definitely wears a nightrobe at home too. Technically the necklace is a vial of his own negativity(?) extracted by Sci. I wanted to make it so that everyone else has that on certain charms/pendants infused with that same negativity to act as a hidden tracker for Night to pinpoint where his boys are (and his own necklace could act as an emergency booster if Night gets too weak)

Ghoaptober # 22
Prompt: Water
Words: 600~
TW: None (sfw)
This version of Ghoaptober was created by @spadesandshovels
Super simple one today.
Enjoy!
Gaz’s exaggerated spluttering and Soap’s subsequent manic laughter drew Price and Ghost’s attention away from where they’d been swearing at Ghost for increasing his treadmill’s incline, and slowly increasing the incline on Price’s treadmill to see if he’d notice, respectively.
The Sergeants were stood beside the chair that all their water bottles were clustered on, Gaz dangerously close to spilling the open bottle in his hand with all his hysterics.
“Did you grab Soap’s bottle?” Price called over as he swatted Ghost’s hand off the controls and turned off the treadmill to hop off.
It was a fair question, Soap liked to taint his water with flavoured electrolyte-booster powders, but as he didn’t like the overly sweet taste of the berry flavoured ones he always chose the lip puckeringly sour lemon-lime ones.
“No,” Gaz wheezed and coughed dramatically, “Ghost’s.”
“What’s wrong with mine?” Ghost demanded, storming over to snatch the bottle in question out of Gaz’s hand.
Ghost never added anything to his water.
“It’s fucking warm!” Gaz exclaimed, flailing a hand at the offending bottle in Ghost’s grip.
The ‘anything’ that Ghost never added to his water included ice.
“I don’t like cold water.” Ghost defended himself, taking a defiant swig of his water. He screwed the lid back on with an unnecessary amount of strength, then slammed the bottle back down onto the chair amongst its brethren.
The blame of Gaz’s downfall could be laid firmly at the feet of the identical Military Issue water bottles they all used. Unless they resorted to little league tactics of ‘my bottle is the one with the string around the neck’, they were impossible to tell apart without close inspection.
“It doesn't have to be cold,” Gaz debated fervently, “But it doesn't have to feel like you're drinking spit either.”
“It doesn’t taste like spit!” Ghost rebuffed, “Just because I don’t fill the whole bottle with ice then add a little water to top it off, like some kind of snow misering freak.”
“A snow misering freak?!” Gaz spat, stomping forward to get in Ghost’s face. Prodding at his chest with one finger, while Ghost straightened up to lord the full twelve centimetres that separated their heights over Gaz. “I wou-”
Gaz’s tirade was cut off by Price forcibly separating them, then stepping in between.
“Alright, that’s enough of that. Gaz-” Price reached down without looking and grabbed what he knew was Garrick’s bottle, pressing it into his Sergeant’s hands, “here’s your water, go cool off. Ghost-” he turned to his Lieutenant, propping his hands on his hips, “stop antagonizing him.”
Price nodded crisply at the mumbled “yessir”s that met him, then grabbed his own bottle and marched into the showers. Thoroughly done with trying to work out for one day.
Gaz stormed after the Captain and Ghost turned those big brown eyes on Johnny. Soap had to work overtime to corral his amusement.
“Nae, mo chridhe.” He assured, stepping in close to lean up against Ghost’s side and stare up into those lovely eyes, “Ah dun think it’s weird ye dun like cold water, Ah ken it hurts y’ur teeth.”
Ghost nodded a couple times, more to himself than to Johnny, then pressed his lips against Johnny’s warhawk in thanks. Giving him a faux kiss through Ghost’s thin workout-balaclava.
Soap popped up onto his toes to smack a kiss onto Ghost’s cheek, then returned to his original goal of grabbing a drink while Ghost wandered off to finish his workout.
Gulping down his tangy lemon-lime mix, Soap eyed Ghost’s unremarkable water bottle with speculative eyes.
The next time the one-four-one gathered for a group workout session Soap arrived brandishing industrial strength stickers that he’d special ordered for the team. They spent the first five minutes of their scheduled exercising time arguing over who got what sticker and decorating their bottles. Price had to be reminded multiple times that pulling rank did not extend to arts and crafts.
Thank You For Reading!

V: Hey, sorry I’m- Interviewer: Late? V: Only by thirty minutes, can't be that big of a deal. Interviewer: Maybe it is-
V: Okay, well, I'm here now, on a Friday night, instead of drinking myself stupid like I wish I was. Go ahead and ask your questions.

V: I like those orange poppy’s that grow all over the Badlands. California poppy’s I think they’re called.
Interviewer: And for your favorite scent? V: Right – probably amber. I've used the same brand of amber-heavy cologne for years. Oh, and I really like that one specific brand of tobacco my mom smoked. Interviewer: What brand was that? V: Can’t recall. Somethin’ imported.

Does printing the future sight frame in Mystery Boosters make a proper Future Sight II unlikely?
I really loved the way future sight gave us a look into the potential future of Magic when it first came out and how the cards were subsequently sprinkled out over future sets
I don't think it really impacts it one way or the other. Some of the playtest cards do have a little bit of a Future Sight feel.

Changes in Population Immunity Against Infection and Severe Disease From Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 Omicron Variants in the United States Between December 2021 and November 2022 - Published Aug 1, 2023
Just wanted to highlight one of the findings, proving that vax and relax will never work:
Increasing first booster uptake to 55% in all states (current US coverage: 34%) and second booster uptake to 22% (current US coverage: 11%) would increase protection against infection by 4.5 percentage points (2.4–7.2) and protection against severe disease by 1.1 percentage points (1.0–1.5).
Even if we were seeing 100% uptake, that would only result in an increase of protection against infection by maybe a dozen percentage points. We have to do more than just vaccinate. Mask. Clean the air. Demand your governments and bosses do more to protect us all, especially in the workplace and in public.
Abstract Background Although a substantial fraction of the US population was infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) during December 2021–February 2022, the subsequent evolution of population immunity reflects the competing influences of waning protection over time and acquisition or restoration of immunity through additional infections and vaccinations.
Methods Using a Bayesian evidence synthesis model of reported coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) data (diagnoses, hospitalizations), vaccinations, and waning patterns for vaccine- and infection-acquired immunity, we estimate population immunity against infection and severe disease from SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variants in the United States, by location (national, state, county) and week.
Results By 9 November 2022, 97% (95%–99%) of the US population were estimated to have prior immunological exposure to SARS-CoV-2. Between 1 December 2021 and 9 November 2022, protection against a new Omicron infection rose from 22% (21%–23%) to 63% (51%–75%) nationally, and protection against an Omicron infection leading to severe disease increased from 61% (59%–64%) to 89% (83%–92%).
Conclusions Effective protection against SARS-CoV-2 infection and severe disease in November 2022 was substantially higher than in December 2021. Despite this high level of protection, a more transmissible or immune evading (sub)variant, changes in behavior, or ongoing waning of immunity could lead to a new SARS-CoV-2 wave.

ASAN is deeply troubled by reports made by The Washington Post this Tuesday that the CDC is planning to change its COVID-19 isolation guidelines. ASAN condemns the potential new guidelines, which would remove the five-day isolation period currently recommended after a positive test for COVID-19. Instead, people with a positive test result would not need to isolate if they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the aid of medication.
ASAN has spoken repeatedly on the failures of the US government to respond adequately to COVID-19. Despite the ongoing pandemic, the end of the public health emergency and subsequent Medicaid unwinding have been devastating to the disability community and other marginalized communities. Efforts to encourage adherence to masking guidance and improve indoor air quality have been underwhelming. Through their actions, the CDC and US Government as a whole have indicated the strategy to combat COVID-19 is seemingly a vaccine-only response, but, with adult uptake of the latest bivalent booster being only 21.9%, even these efforts are beyond inadequate.
This change is particularly alarming given who is likely to be among the most impacted. Changing the isolation window disproportionately exposes and affects vulnerable populations such as disabled and immunocompromised people, older adults, and other high-risk groups. These guidelines would increase COVID-19 exposure and make people at high risk of poor outcomes from COVID-19 less safe in a range of public and private spaces.
Asymptomatic spread remains a serious concern with the latest variants. Reduced access to at-home and PCR testing since the end of the public health emergency contributes to transmission. Removing the isolation window adds increased pressure to return to school and work while potentially infectious. This will disproportionately affect individuals with hourly jobs that must be performed in person and families with children that are lower-income and families of color, as many communities aggressively enforce truancy laws against these households. Counting on the availability of treatments like Paxlovid as a mitigation strategy is highly inequitable as racial and ethnic disparities in outpatient treatment of COVID-19 remain prevalent. An approach to COVID-19 that accepts widespread and repeated infection leaves the most vulnerable among us unprotected. As we have seen throughout the pandemic, it has also led to the emergence of new variants, putting our communities at additional risk. Each repeated infection increases an individual’s likelihood of developing Long COVID, a potentially lifelong disability with limited treatment options.
The CDC has continually failed to take into account disabled people when making COVID-19 policies and regulations. The CDC is moving in the wrong direction by reducing COVID-19 isolation periods. Instead, it should release improved guidelines to promote masking and increase availability, accessibility, and understanding of vaccines, testing, and treatment. States and the federal government also must address the continued effects of the pandemic and the end of the public health emergency on health care access and home and community based services, make investments in improving indoor air quality and preventing and treating Long COVID, and address the economic and human impacts of this crisis. ASAN condemns the possible shortening of isolation guidelines and will continue to hold the federal government accountable for protecting the public from the ongoing risk of COVID-19.

Good Luck Babe! - Chapter 2: Your Best Laid Plans.

❝Unpacking isn't always easy, at least the U.A dorms were nice.❞
previous part || masterlist || next part
The U.A dormitories were infinitely nicer than your university accommodations. The realisation strikes you before you’ve made your way across the green expanse of the newly built quad. It bristles your feathers and adds yet another reason why privately funded academies were far from your wheelhouse of experience. The Miyagi University of Education was a fine school, it had a small number of students which meant one on one time with their professors, and was built in the late 19th century making the campus as picturesque as a university could be. Sure, the accommodations were a bit dated especially in comparison to a brand new, state of the art building, but you couldn’t complain. Your university years were enjoyable, you wouldn’t trade those memories for anything.
And, Sendai was a lovely city. Costal, filled with enough greenery to never make you miss the quaint rural town you were raised in. There were a plethora of museums and cultural sites that kept you busy and when your close friend worked as an apprentice curator, affordable year round passes were suddenly far more accessible.
Friend, almost boyfriend. Situationship. You chuckle to yourself with a shake of your head. Almost something, almost, nothing. It was maddening when you were stuck within the pit, uncertainty wearing at you. Now, it just seemed silly.
The lines were still blurred on where exactly your relationship stood. Not that the semantics mattered much when you moved nearly four hours away to a new city, with new people, and a new job. You hadn’t seen him in two months, not since you moved into Musutafu for work and he refused to answer any text messages you’d sent. Not that you cared, that chapter of your life was firmly shut and left in the past– in Sendai– and he was still a close friend, at least that’s what you liked to believe, and would until he said otherwise. Not that he would say otherwise. Still, he was a good friend to have even if he didn’t see you as a friend, or was pissy that you never made a move to clearly define what you were. It’s not like he did either.
Almost, he was an almost.
You had a lot of those in your history books. Paramours who weren’t quite lovers but you could hardly call them a friend. Always feeling too attached to simply name them as a friend. Women who’s friendship was so intense you couldn’t call it anything other than something akin to love. An almost something that you were scared to commit to. Your heart locked firmly behind the fortress of your rib cage when you wished it could be freely given.
You think that’s why you took this job.
Aside from the clear résumé booster this would be, the pay, and the perks, and the fact that you’d be stupid not to take the job, it was a far leap from your comfort zone. Sendai was the safe choice for university, it was only an hour train ride from your family’s home, a handful of upperclassmen had already been in attendance and offered to shepherd you into this new era. Most weekends were spent back at home until you made a few friends. Even those came with a caveat and a safety net. Mister situationship with the spiky blonde hair and glasses was your lab partner and subsequently became the gateway to the group of friends you'd made. You didn’t dare to branch out on your own, beyond them.
You took the easy way out. If asked you’d say that made you sensible. Your elementary school teachers would agree. They all thought you to be well beyond your years, an old soul trapped behind a pair of chubby cheeks. Never one to act out or step beyond your comfort zone. Your assignments were predictably perfect and drawn directly from your wheelhouse of interests. Your arguments were well polished and you possessed an arsenal of peer reviewed resources that you shuffled around based on your topic of choice.
As a child the adults in your life fussed over you, shirking their misplaced dreams on your frail shoulders. A little leader in your own right, keeping your stuffed animals and friends in line. They told you that you’d make a great teacher, your voice was gentle and your touch was always soft. That or a mother. As if it were the middle ages and that’s all you could amount to.
But, you were predictable.
You stayed the course they mapped out for you. Too scared for anything bigger. The figs that branched out beyond you had long since rotted and died, taking with it, whatever other paths and aspirations you might’ve filled your life with.
And, in some fruitless attempt to extend beyond their expectations, you left home and took this job. In most lights it still existed within the realm of your comfort zone but in some it pushed you.
You decided, your one saving grace of the day was that you packed lightly and still managed to scarcely fill out your apartment. Though it may not have been half as fancy as the U.A accommodations, you learned from your university dorm that you probably didn’t need as much as you thought you did. Clearing out your apartment took an hour and the commute back to U.A only about thirty minutes. Foot traffic was much lighter now that the morning rush had subsided. It helped that you’d spent the last two months living out of your suitcase. The apartment was temporary, a placeholder until you found something closer to the school. Though you stupidly never thought to consider that you’d be expected to reside on campus grounds.
Perhaps you were a child like Aizawa accused. Your brain gnawed on his words, playing them on loop until it accepted it as fact. Wearing boots too big for your feet, your naivety glaring. Obvious to everyone but you.
It was an easy fix. Pessimism was your middle name, though, you preferred to call it realistic. You would wise up in no time. Gather your bearings, plant your roots, and never stumble over the shock of the unknown again. Prove to them, to you, to anyone else who thought to question you, that you were meant to be here. Then, maybe you wouldn’t feel so sick with insecurity even as you tossed your things into your new lodgings.
Shōta stands with his back pressed against the wall outside of class 1-A when Yamada pops out of the classroom. Kayama would be there soon for modern hero art history, Shōta decided then that he’d prefer to keep whatever schemes Nezu was cooking up to himself. He scoffs to himself as he replays the conversation he has with you.
Concerned.
The ministry of education was concerned? Now? Of course they were. Shōta wasn’t stupid, he saw the uptick of distrust growing between the general public and the ministry– it went hand in hand with the near constant criticism that floated across the gaggle of paparazzi that sat outside the school gates everyday. They questioned the ethics behind U.A as an institute, wrote think pieces and created conspiracy theories to work out every move they made as if to catch the school in some lie. It was as exhausting as it was hypocritical. Shōta laughed at the mere thought. The general public had no problem fawning over his class during the sports festival, marvelling at just how powerful they had to be to stand against the League of Villains all on their own.
But sure, now there was a problem. It was serious now that a student had been kidnapped.
Stuffing his hand into his pocket, Shōta grabs the small plastic bottle of eye drops he keeps handy. His eyes sting with irritation, if that was even possible. His unkempt bangs slide away from his forehead when he tilts his head back, widening his eyes for a few drops of temporary relief.
“Hey” Hizashi calls, popping his head out of the classroom door, “Who was that you were talking to? Your students sure had a lot of questions but I didn’t have many answers”
“Irrelevant,” Shōta snips.
“Hm?”
There’s a stack of workbooks tucked in the crook of his elbow, the covers worn and the colours faded. The class must have finished their latest grammar unit. He tilts his head down, his bright orange glasses slip down the slope of his nose to reveal his inquisitive yellow eyes. He peers at Shōta with interest.
“I said, she’s irrelevant,” he repeats, with a frown, “At least to you.”
Hizashi chortles, “Oh? So what, only you get a special little helper?” he quips, with a smile, “Iida said she introduced herself to the class and Nezu was with her, it seemed like she was supposed to be there.”
Shōta hums, pushing off from the wall and away from his classroom, “Seems to me you’re pretty well informed already, Mic.”
“Eh, not anymore than your students.”
His laughter bounces down the hall as he bounds after Shōta, only pausing to adjust the stack of workbooks under his arm.
“C’mon, Shōta, spill!” He says, throwing his free arm over his shoulder, “No one’s losing their job are they?”
The teasing lilt dies quickly, “Right?” Hizashi asks, concern drips from his tongue. Concern for Shōta. He’s getting sick of it.
“She’s from the ministry of ed,” Shōta huffs.
There’d been concern after Bakugō had been kidnapped. Selfish ones. Some worried their positions were up for debate, others wondered if alumni and sponsors would pull funding. Of course, there was always the concern for bad publicity. This entire school year was bad for publicity. Not that it mattered. Bored, nameless nobodies on internet forums always had something to criticise even when the academic year was perfect, when U.A graduates continually climbed the ranks, opened their own agencies, and continued to keep Japan safe. Whatever concern they had now was purely bureaucratic to save their own skin.
“Oh?” Hizashi raises an eyebrow.
They share a look, “Apparently they’ve begun to worry,” he explains, thinking back to what you said. How much did you believe in the lines you’d been fed? Did you create them?
No. You seemed earnest, young enough that your naïvity was genuine and you were likely just a piece for them to move about the board as they saw fit. You couldn’t be complicit in whatever cover up scheme Nezu had allowed into the building. Your flighty, nervous demeanour told him as much. He was worried he might burst into tears if his voice dared to sharpen any further. The way you wilted like a sad, delicate flower beneath the uncomfortable heat of the sun reminded him of a few past students. The ones he expelled for being too soft and too thoughtful. The ones who weren’t cut from the right cloth, they’d never be able to hack it as a hero without that reckless drive most had.
You were like them but somehow even more fragile. Even with the tenacity and sheer stupidity you had.
“About?” Hizashi questions, his eyebrow quirking upward.
“Our teaching capabilities,” Shōta shrugs, jabbing his thumb into the up bottom once they reach the elevators.
Hizashi leans against the wall, hitching his leg upward, “What does that mean?” His scrunches up in annoyance, “It’s deceptively vague.”
“Your guess is as good as mine.”
The ride up the elevator is quiet. Hizashi keeps his lips pursed in a fine line while Shōta scowls in contemplative silence.
Concern?
If they were concerned they’d help implement mental health services for all students at U.A. He’s petitioned them relentlessly for years, they had the funding, Nezu was onboard but there was far too much red tape to navigate through and each thread led back to the ministry. Instead they wanted to throw you to the wolves. A peppy, fresh faced, anxiety riddled university graduate who had yet to experience much of the real world. You sparkled in the way most did before they got a taste of how monotonous their dream careers were.
“I heard the minister of education is planning on campaigning for Prime Minister,” Hizashi comments, stepping toward the now open elevator doors.
Shōta clicks his tongue, “Hm, how convenient.”
“It could be worse.”
“How so?” He raises a brow to Hizashi.
“The hero commission and the ministry could be breathing down our necks,” he shrugs his shoulders, “I’m sure she’s harmless and her presence is merely a formality, a box to check to appease antsy civilians and overzealous journalists.”
“Right.”
Shōta gives Hizashi a tight, strained smile as the elevator door shuts between them.
A formality.
That’s what you were. He didn’t often feel uneasy, but none of this sat right with him. His stomach churned at the thought of you. The same looming feeling of dread sat like a pit in his stomach most days when he stared directly into the bright eyed, determined faces of his students. You held the same look, though it was shrouded with an obvious nervousness that you couldn’t shake. Still, your dreams had yet to be jaded by the cruelties of this world, much like his students. It made him uneasy. They at least understood the gravity of their reality, he wasn’t sure you did.
Pinching the bridge of his nose, Shōta sighed to himself.
He was growing soft in his age. That’s why he didn’t fight you. It had to be why.
Sauntering down the hall to his office, Shōta wonders if he made the right decision.
Aizawa finds an hour after the final bell has rung. The sun has dipped low in the afternoon sky, painting your lodgings a warm, comforting yellow. The walls are bare and the decor is sparse. Only a few polaroid pictures, a calendar and your two degrees occupy the space. It feels oddly big, too big for just you but there’s nothing else to cram in the nooks and crannies to make your new home a little less lonesome.
It’s a relief to see Aizawa’s tired face on the other side of your door. He’d offer you a reprieve from the anxious thoughts that relentlessly ping pong around your skull.
“Hi!” You chirp, opening up the door, offering him a nervous smile, “Did you want to come in?”
He hoarsely grumbles out something resembling a, “Yes”, pushing past you before you’ve fully moved out of the way. His eyes scan his surroundings, you suppose he’s taking in the little decorations you’ve set about the place but you struggle to follow his gaze from where it’s hidden beneath his fringe. You suppose it’s a learned trait. After a bit of googling, you found that his quirk was aptly named erasure and manifested through his eyes.
Aizawa settles on your sofa, his legs spread as he rests his elbows on his thighs.
“Did you uhm, want something to drink?”
All you had was a nearly empty tin of instant coffee and a box of tea that expired two years ago. You hoped he’d say no, so you didn’t have to go through the mortifying ordeal of scrounging something you. Your parents raised you to be hospitable when you opened your home to guests. So, you couldn’t help but ask.
He dismisses you with a wave of his hand, “Thank you but, I’m fine,” he says, resting his chin on his interlocked fingers.
“Okay!”
Scratching the back of your head, you flounder around the living space. The armchair was piled high with your winter coats and the only other space to sit was next to him.
“I don’t bite,” he mutters, peering up at you.
You shift nervously from foot to foot, reminding yourself that he’s a pro hero– despite his tired disposition. He was likely trained to read body language. It wasn’t that you were easy to read but that he read others easily. There was no need to feel nervous, he wasn’t doing it purposely and you probably weren’t giving anything away. Shuffling closer to the sofa, you sit as close to the arm as you could without making your discomfort obvious.
“You’ve settled in?”
Nodding you nervously bite your lip, “I pack light so it wasn’t much work.”
Aizawa hums. His arm brushes against yours. You can feel how his chest rumbles as he speaks.
“Good,” he says, pausing for a moment, “Then, I trust you have the time to elaborate on why you’re here?”
A small sound of agreement passes your raw, bitten lips, “I sure can!” You smile, hoping the pep in your voice disguises the panic, “Uhm, well the ministry of education was worried that the repeated villain attacks and lack of consistent curriculum was negatively impacting their development.”
You wrack your brain trying to remember what exactly their email outlined but all that comes up is the excitement you felt. The picture in your mind is hazy, the details sparse but you remember most of the key points they had. They’d stuck out to you and seemed reasonable enough once you started digging into the files they sent you.
“I think it’s fairly obvious that being the target of villain attacks would have adverse effects,” you state as if he didn’t see that for himself, “However in addition to the unique mode of learning employed by each teacher here, there has been concern that the lack of consistency is what’s causing their markedly low grades.”
Aizawa scoffs, staring at you in disbelief, “Their grades are fine, I would know.”
“Their grades are still above average; however, compared to their entrance exam marks and results from the previous year's standardised tests, the class's average has dropped by 5%,” you explain, pressing a finger to the tip of your chin, “I have the data sheets, I can show them to you if you want.”
Initially you hadn’t been concerned when looking over their most recent examination marks. They had done exceptionally well with material that far surpassed the curriculum expectations set in the prefecture, however the decline was clear. You presumed the several areas in which they hadn’t done as well in, had been lessons interrupted by villain attacks. It wasn’t their fault, and if anything they were still on track but still, you couldn’t help but worry.
“If they're above the country's average, I don’t see the issue.”
Narrowing your eyes at him, you sigh “Well there’s a clear pattern that indicates an issue that needs to be addressed,” a frustrated puff of air passes your lips, “These kids are meant to be above average, sure that’s why they’re here, however their emotional well being and emotional needs should also be met instead of being ignored because they’re so special!”
Clearing your throat, you sink deeper into your sofa’s cushion, cheeks warmed to the touch. Your voice had raised several octaves, progressively getting louder as you prattled. You’d always been passionate about mental health, but you didn’t know you were this passionate. Aizawa watches you, there's something in his eyes, you can’t name it. Not yet. You don’t know him well enough. He gestures for you to continue on with his hand.
“It’s evidentially contributing to a class-wide decline,” you conclude, fiddling with your fingers, “It’s not your fault! I tried asking Principal Nezu about U.A’s guidance counsellor and mental health resources and apparently neither exist.”
He nods, seemingly knowing it all too well,“How do you propose we fix that then?”
“This isn’t something that’s cut and dry, I need to spend some time with your students, get to know them, and hear from them where they’re needing support.”
Aizawa laughs. He laughs at you, throwing his head back and letting out a full bellied laugh. You’re stunned to silence, blinking, half in disbelief and half in shock. His laugh was nice, rich even. Oddly befitting for a man like him, but still unexpected. At first glance you wouldn’t have expected from him. Though, you’re unsure what you had expected of Aizawa. He was nothing like the glamorous, larger than life pro heroes you grew up watching on television. Aizawa was far more relaxed, his dress casual, and seemed to proudly wear the dark circles that lined his tired eyes. It made him approachable, the lack of lustre and branding around the elusive Eraserhead.
You liked that about him.
“Is something funny?” You asked with a quirk of your brow.
“It’s just rather amusing that you think any of them will ask for help,” he states, leaning back into the sofa, “Have you ever heard of a hero's pride?”
“Well, it’s a good thing they’re not heroes, they’re teenagers,” you hum, clasping your hands together.
“Try telling them that and see how well that goes.”
A joke, you think he was making a joke,“I’m well aware they think they’re more grown up than they actually are,” you felt the same at that age, you’re sure the responsibility of herodom only intensified it,“They kinda are compared to their middle school peers at the very least.”
Aizawa snorts, “Something like that,” he agrees with a shake of his head.
His gaze catches yours for a moment, it’s held for a few short seconds before you anxiously look away. Letting out a forced cough, you train your eyes on the television that sits across the room.
“So I was thinking it would be a good idea if I could have a copy of your students' syllabus for each course they're taking?” You blurt, eager to continue the conversation forward.
“What?”
“The syllabus?” You repeat, “You know, the document that outlines their course expectations, assignments, and schedule for the semester?”
He scratches his chin, rubbing the stubble, “We don’t have those,” Aizawa says with a frown, “Is that standard practice?”
“Ah, mostly in University but many secondary schools are beginning to use them,” you explain, “It helps give students an idea of their semester beforehand.”
“It’s the beginning of the semester,” Aizawa comments, his lips pursed.
“That it is.”
Shrugging his shoulders, his eyes slide over to you, “We could make up a syllabus,” he suggests, “If you think that it’d be a worthwhile endeavour.”
“I think it is,” you sit a little straighter, a grin overtaking your lips, “Students seem to respond well when they feel prepared rather than blindsided, I can send you one of the research articles I’ve read!”
“I’ll take your word for it.”
Giving your knee a pat, Aizawa offers you a strained smile.
You have to bite your tongue to stop yourself from asking if he was sure. Aizawa didn’t strike you as a man who did anything he wasn’t sure of. Your overly eager, zealous attitude could be a bit much. You didn’t want to come off any stronger than you already did. Whatever impression that you’d made to him likely wasn’t one you’d want to stick around for too long.
“Well, that sounds like a plan!”
“So, tomorrow you’ll observe my class,” he proposes, “We can regroup in the evening, if it should suit you?”
You find yourself nodding before he’s finished speaking, “Oh for sure!” You grin, clapping your hands on your thighs, “I can do that!”
Aizawa rises from your sofa with a small grunt, stretching out his spine before he turns to you, “I’ll see you then.”
Nodding in agreement, you watch as he walks out of your front door. You let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding, flopping back onto the sofa as soon as the door clicks shut behind him. Tomorrow would be the big day then, the day you stepped into adulthood and kickstarted your career. Your stomach churned at the realisation. You’d spent the better part of two weeks preparing for this day, meticulously rehearsing what you’d say, how you’d say it, what you’d wear, and how you’d part your hair.
You’d have to do it all again, tomorrow. This time, without any of your planning.

few things will make you declare to yourself "yeah i definitely have ADHD" like being medicated for a long period of time and then suddenly being even sub-optimally medicated for any short period of time.
i went thirty years without knowing i had ADHD. i've been medicated for almost 3 years.
the first time i have been without my medication for a prolonged period of time has made me wonder how the fuck i was waking up every morning and pretending that i could just make it through the day on a matter of sheer will and resentment for anyone who said otherwise.
anyway shout out to to my new beautiful mistress (her name is Concerta i think its french) for booster-seating me through 9 hours of work without being tortured by the woes of fetish-level virulent desires of self harm and for allowing me to subsequently accomplish [1] load of laundry, [1] load of dishes and taking [1] trash and [1] recycling out all in one singular whole ass day

Dragon Booster Notes: Cladistic Taxonomy
I had to lay out a rough estimate of evolutionary relationships or I'd go insane <3
"narrator" voice starts under the cut:
Dracalia
[image ID: a simple cladistic diagram of the speculative Dracalia clade. the first division from Dracalia leads to, "remains sprawling and ectothermic" traits, resulting in Hydrags (depicted as low-bodied and lizard-like). the other path leads to, "endothermic and erect limb structure" traits, resulting in the rest of the tree. this path then splits into "bipedalism" vs. "remains quadrupedal" traits. bipedalism results in two different lineages: Raptors (depicted much like a prehistoric raptor) and crow-drags (depicted much like a crow). quadrupedalism results in Bulls (depicted as bulky and bull-like), and another path which then splits into Canids (depicted as lean and gangly) and Felids (depicted with a lithe and curving stature). end ID]
Dracalia is the most populous and successful clade in the modern day, due in part to the disastrous Dragon-Human War several centuries previous. few clades survived the subsequent environmental fallout and extinction event of that terrible war, but Dracalia and humans are among the few that clawed our way to survival. humans due to our adaptability and ingenuity, and drakes* due to their high aptitude for Draconium manipulation and (typically) extreme temperature regulation.
(*note that "drake" is the proper name for any member of the clade Dracalia, whereas "dragon" is the layman term for the few clades of race-worthy drakes.)
Draconium manipulation is a core trait of Dracalia, though it has naturally waned in certain sub-clades. other traits include audial fins, heat pits, and complex respiratory systems with associated Mufflers. drake respiratory systems are highly efficient, allowing for constant gas exchange and internal heat regulation, resulting in high adaptability to a wide range of environmental temperatures and high-energy activities.
most researchers believe that the most recent common ancestor of Dracalia likely resembled a modern Hydrag, with a sprawling leg posture, low body, and ectothermic physiology. the rest of Dracalia split off from Hydrags rather early on, developing erect leg posture and an endothermic physiology. this endothermic trait further developed into even more extreme control of internal body heat-- namely, increased sensitivity of heat pits and specialization of the respiratory system.
this sub-clade further split into two sub-clades-- bipedal drakes and quadrupedal drakes. the bipeds took advantage of their already complex, efficient respiratory systems, allowing bipeds to develop powered flight using webbed wings. Raptors are themselves descended from a flighted ancestor, but lost their ability to fly over time, instead specializing in ground stability and speed. their arms still have some vestigial webbing, and their bodies are still short and compact, though they cannot do much more than glide with the help of flight gear. crow-drags, on the other hand, are a fully-flighted clade, having taken over the skies from the extinct avians of the past, flourishing in the absence of other flighted competition.
the rest of the quadrupeds split into two core paths of specialization: bulk and agility. Bulls have made a living being some of the biggest, toughest creatures around, hard to injure and even harder to kill. few creatures seek to challenge such an opponent. Felids and Canids, on the other hand, aim for speed and agility, outrunning pursuers and prey alike. Felids have taken their agility slightly further than Canids, specializing in flexibility over stability.
((as for other creatures we see in the show:
Muhorta: we never see the full body, so I have no fucking clue. they could be some land-based cephalopod with a false dragon face for all I know... wait that sounds really cool actually..
newts: I think they're just regular newts. like, real-ass animal newts, but they evolved some semi-bipedalism in the show. or maybe geckos instead, so the poor lil' guys don't desiccate. I just think it would be funny.))

Guys this is driving me nuts. This is not true. I understand why you might think this is true, since a recent study seemed to conclude this and it was covered by every news outlet on the planet, but it is not.
This is the study: Acute and postacute sequelae associated with SARS-CoV-2 reinfection. It was published in Nature Medicine, which is a very reputable journal. The study itself is fine. The headlines covering it were very misleading. Here’s the problem.
The study was observational only. You’re familiar with “correlation vs. causation”? This type of study can only find correlations. It cannot conclude that COVID reinfection causes an increased risk of hospitalization, severe disease, etc. It is equally possible (and much more plausible IMO!) that reinfection occurs more frequently in people who already have higher health risks. The study cannot differentiate between the two.
The study was also done using VA records. This means that any mild COVID infection or positive COVID test that did not result in an encounter with the VA health system would not have been captured in the study. They were already only looking at people who had severe enough COVID -- and severe enough reinfections -- that they sought medical treatment.
Furthermore -- any COVID exposure that did not result in infection due to acquired immunity would, naturally, not have been captured. Because COVID infection absolutely confers natural immunity.
Check out this other recent (Nov. 3, 2022) study: Immune Imprinting and Protection against Repeat Reinfection with SARS-CoV-2. It was published in the New England Journal of Medicine, probably the most prestigious medical journal out there. They’re studying unvaccinated people in Qatar who have -- guess what -- natural immunity from prior COVID infection(s).
“Omicron infection induces strong protection against a subsequent omicron infection.2,4 In the present cohort study, an additional, earlier infection with non-omicron SARS-CoV-2 was found to strengthen this protection against a subsequent omicron infection. The earlier pre-omicron infection may have broadened the immune response against a future reinfection challenge.
“Confers immunity” and “induces strong protection against” does not mean you will never get COVID. This is the same fallacy that anti-vaxxers use to justify not getting the vaccines. It’s still possible to get COVID, but with some combination of vaccines and prior infections, you will have memory immune cells that will greatly reduce your chances of severe disease.
Other recent studies have been looking at a phenomenon called “immune imprinting”, which describes the fact that your body would much rather use existing memory immune cells to defend against a very closely related variant of something it has already encountered, rather than make a whole fresh batch of very similar immune cells perfectly specific to the new variant. This has implications for the efficacy of the new bivalent booster vaccines that include the Omicron variant -- it’s possible that the two variants are too similar and including Omicron in the booster isn’t particularly useful. This recent pre-print study -- Immunogenicity of the BA.5 Bivalent mRNA Vaccine Boosters -- compared the old monovalent boosters with the new bivalent boosters that include Omicron, and found that there wasn’t actually that much difference. Both increased antibody levels against both original COVID and Omicron (yes, even the booster that didn’t include Omicron did that, because basically everyone has been exposed to Omicron at this point and has antibodies against it, and the antibodies seem to be similar enough that they all trigger together). But both boosters increased antibodies against original COVID far more powerfully than they increased antibodies against Omicron, because everyone’s first exposure (in the study) was to original COVID, so those are the immune memory cells your body has the most of to begin with. They conclude:
Our findings suggest that immune imprinting by prior antigenic exposure5 may pose a greater challenge than currently appreciated for inducing robust immunity to SARS-CoV-2 variants.
This is tricky! This could help explain why Omicron infections are still so prevalent despite pretty good coverage with really good vaccines against original COVID (though bivalent booster coverage is pretty abysmal in the US at least, so hard to say). This does not mean that natural immunity "doesn't work" with COVID and it certainly doesn't mean that "reinfection just makes you get worse and worse".
COVID is not great. You should avoid getting it and if you get it you should definitely avoid spreading it. If you have risk factors for getting severe COVID, you should really avoid getting it, and if you have those risk factors then you already knew that. But it is not a case of “natural immunity does not exist, every subsequent reinfection only gets worse and worse forever until you die”. This is anti-science alarmism. I understand that something along these lines was in a hundred different newspapers recently but I hope this explains why that reporting was misleading and ultimately wrong.
#covid#sorry this is long and nuanced i am just getting itchy with how many fact-free covid posts i have been seeing sorry

"World Patriots, Rejoice: The Deep State's Second Pandemic Plot Unravels!"
Ladies and gentlemen, fellow Patriots and Freedom Fighters, this is a moment to celebrate, for your unyielding spirit has once again triumphed against the shadowy deep state and their globalist agenda.
Your voices, your unshakable commitment to the truth, have played a pivotal role in exposing the hidden agenda, thereby thwarting the second planned pandemic and subsequent lockdowns. The globalist deep state has been forced to abandon their malevolent scheme thanks to the MASSIVE AWAKENING INFORMATION CAMPAIGN!
Across more than 100 nations, their sinister plan has crumbled, with fewer than 5% of Americans succumbing to their booster shot agenda. Across the globe, consensus has been reached that the world refuses to bow to new lockdowns, and most now see a sinister elite agenda lurking behind the pandemic, vaccines, and lockdowns. Moreover, nations are awakening to the stark corruption undermining their two-tier governments, suppressing human rights, and censoring freedom of speech!
"Secret Vaxx Warehouses - A Billion-Dollar Fiasco"
Behind closed doors, the colossal failure of vaccine storage and distribution unfolds. Warehouses across the globe are overflowing, and the blunders are costing BlackRock and others hundreds of billions as vaccines languish without proper storage and cooling. Quietly, these vaccines are being destroyed, making this revelation a powerful testament to our fight against the deep state cabal.
"The Power of the Great Awakening"
This moment signifies a monumental victory against the deep state cabal and underscores the potency of the Great Awakening, spreading like wildfire worldwide. Your voices are the antidote to the deep state's lies, overcoming mainstream media misinformation, social media censorship, government suppression, and globalist narratives.
"Deep State Panic and the WW3 Scheme"
As the globalist cabal panics, they endeavor to concoct a WW3 scenario to fuel their illicit money laundering operations, extracting trillions from the U.S., EU, Canada, Australia, Israel, and the puppet Ukrainian regime controlled by the CIA. But their war machinations have crumbled as Ukraine's regime, feeling betrayed and abandoned, admits defeat.
"Israeli Civil War Looms"
Behind the curtains in Israel, the military plans to remove Netanyahu, paving the way for tribunals. A civil war looms, scheduled for 2024, as over 80% of Israelis lose faith in their government. White hat military strategists are preparing intricate Game Theory Operations for a bloodless military coup.
"Revelations Await in 2024"
In 2024, brace for groundbreaking revelations as military white hats and courageous individuals in the medical, government, and the broader pharmaceutical industry unleash hidden data on vaccine tests, fatalities, damages, and the corrupt agendas of global investment giants such as BlackRock, who manipulated, bribed, blackmailed, and laundered money to push through COVID-19 vaccines.
"Global Riots and Protests"
A wave of worldwide unrest will sweep through the streets, targeting the establishment in the medical, big pharma, big tech, and industries entwined with governments, presidents, and regimes beholden to globalist agendas and control. The depopulation agenda will cease to be a conspiracy, as the U.S. Congress launches investigations, intersecting with the 2024 election interference and the previous 2020 election meddling.
"A Planned Military Coup?"
This looming storm will be masterfully framed by the white hats as a meticulously orchestrated military coup engineered by the globalists, in collusion with the likes of Obama, the CIA, Pentagon, and the DOJ, extending its reach to the European Union, Canada, Australia, and the rest of the world.
Remember, Patriots, everything converges towards Q.
"Trust the Plan, Military Is the Only Way"
Place your trust in the plan, for the military stands as the only bastion against the encroaching darkness.
The revolution is imminent

1986 Space Shuttle Challenger disaster.
"Illustration showing the sequence of events during the launch of the Space Shuttle Challenger on January 28, 1986. Challenger exploded at 16:38 UTC, 73 seconds after lift-off from the Kennedy Space Centre, Florida, USA. The illustration shows the resulting debris, vapour and smoke trails The explosion occurred as a result of a failure of one of the O-rings in a seal on one of the booster rockets. A subsequent leakage of fuel triggered the explosion that killed all seven crew. The disintegration took place over the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Florida."

The Road to Jade Jupiter
It is interesting to note that several Beyblades appearing in the arc prior to Dynamis's appearence, the legendary blader of Jupiter, were connected to Zeus and/or Jade Jupiter in some form.
Julian Konzern - Gravity Perseus Before the Destroyer Dome, Madoka was contacted by Julian. She and the rest of the group subsequently met him in Greece. Julian's Bey, Gravity Destroyer/Perseus, represents the constellation of Perseus, one of the many illegitimate children Zeus sired.
After meeting Team Excalibur, Gingka and his friends went to the Destroyer Dome tournament, where several Beyblades related to Zeus could be found as well.
King - Variares The bey Variares is named after Mars/Ares, the son of Zeus. Its blader King is the legendary blader of Mars.
Ian Garcia - Cyclone Herculeo Ian's Bey, Cyclone Herculeo, references Hercules, another son of Zeus.
Tsubasa Otori - Earth Eagle Tsubasa's Earth Eagle represents Zeus' symbolic animal, the eagle.
Jack - Evil Befall Jack's Evil Befall is associated with the peacock, Hera's favorite animal. Hera herslef is Zeus's wife and sister, she seomtimes plays a role in stories involving her husband's children of infidelities.
Jigsaw - Forbidden Ionis Forbidden Ionis represents a satellite of Jupiter named after one of Zeus's mistresses. This Bey is also part of Jade Jupiter's random booster.
Tobio Oike - Storm Capricorn Storm Capricorn can be associated with Amalthea, Zeus's foster mother.
Toby - Spiral Lyre The constellation associated with Spiral Lyre is Lyra, which, according to mythology, was the lyre of the musician Orpheus, placed in the sky by Zeus after his death. The instrument is also often associated with Apollo, another son of the king of the gods. Spiral Lyre is part of Jade Jupiter's random booster as well.
Nowaguma - Rock Orso Rock Orso is associated with the constellation Ursa Major, created by Zeus when he placed his former mistress in the sky, whom he previously transformed into a bear.
Argo Garcia - Ray Gil The constellation of the keel, which Ray Gil represents, was once part of a greater constellation named Argo Navis. This symbolized the ship named Argo, which many heroes from Greek mythology, including Hercules, a son of Zeus, sailed on. Although this is a remote connection, it is still noteworthy.
Selen and Enso Garcia - Ray Gasher According to mythology, Cancer the crab was sent by Hera to disrupt Hercules during his second labor. Like Argo's Ray Gil, this connection to Hercules is subtle but present.
Zeo Abyss - Spiral Fox Spiral Fox is also part of Jade Jupiter's random booster. It is interesting to note that foxes are often associated with ruse and deception. In Japanese culture, the "kitsune" refers to a legendary beast possessing powers of illusion and metamorphosis. The god Zeus himself is known for often using metamorphosis to seduce women and elope with them without getting caught.
Nile - Vulcan Horuseus After the Destroyer Dome tournament, Gingka and the group traveled to Africa to find the legendary blader, who would later be revealed as Dynamis. They are greeted and accompanied by Nile and Damure. Nile's Bey is Vulcan Horuseus. Vulcan references a hypothetical planet between Mercury and the sun named after Hera's son, who is sometimes said to be solely Hera's child and sometimes also the son of Zeus. Horuseus refers to the god Horus, god of the sky and protector of the Pharaoh. Like Zeus, Horus is associated with a raptorial bird (falcon for Horus and eagle for Zeus), and both represent kingship and the sky and have famously fought and defeated an evil member of their family.

In Bloomburrow's design am I seeing the needle move slightly back towards "block monsters" (iirc named after the Goblins and other ilk of Onslaught)? It is clear that you are still seeding prior and subsequent sets, but has there been a push to put more strong themed cards together in a set? This might be more noticible with the creature type focus or due to the set ushering in rotation.
The change away from blocks and towards play boosters (two different forces) has allowed us to focus more power of a theme into a single set than we used to.
