It's a travesty to me that the only chanukah (or even jewish in general) movie my dad's seen is Eight Crazy Nights - don't get me wrong, it's a decent movie. But only when it's Davey being vulnerable and when the movie undeniably engages with his jewishness

There's two ways I could write that "Omega gets hacked and controlled by Eggman" fic. One is a super angsty body/psychological horror fic with a heavy focus on Omega's narration as the single person he hates most controls his every move. . .

. . . or a comedy fic where Rouge saw through the ruse immediately, told Shadow, and while they're figuring out how to free Omega they keep a CinemaSins-style tally of "Omega Would Not Fucking Say That" moments like they're reading a poorly-written fanfiction (while trying to contain their giggles as to not give it away)

my life has lowkey been falling apart for weeks now, but I had like a week and a half of fun plans and such that i wanted to enjoy so I just like forced my brain to ignore it. Then in the midst of that I was hit with another major stressor and then grief and had to push that aside too, and now the fun week has passed and I have to face reality and I actually do not know how to get myself out of this one. Might be my moment for a complete nervous break.

Since Pokemon has always had the vast majority of its cast be genuinely nice, I feel like there's been a pretty consistent trend in pokemon fics where random characters are just kinda assigned to be dicks for no reason in order to make the angst work. It's kinda hard for a protagonist to get an emotional gut punch or feel the catharsis of being saved from villains by their romantic interest if 99% of the named cast is actively trying to be your friend

But what's funniest to me is seeing which characters get picked for that role. In some games it's pretty predictable (Rose and Kamado stand out as characters that get absolutely wrecked in this regard) but I think SV is a really interesting case, since the rivals are your besties and even the villains are barely evil. Aside from the canonically dropped out bullies who antagonized Team Star, there's not really any asshole characters in the whole cast. However, people have pretty consistently landed on the academy staff to fill this role, which is genuinely so hysterical to pop up around ao3

I've seen a lot of wild takes in pokemon fics before but genuinely nothing prepared me for clicking on a link and immediately being hit with the math teacher being an ableist
