Ok watching talistheintroverts’ video on companies torpedoing themselves and I swear to god there is a very clear connection between the way TikTok has emboldened white people to bastardized aave in new and more egregious ways than ever before, and with the way people use TikTok slang like ‘unalived’ irl.
One of these is worse than the other but white people mainly care about 1. Hint* it’s partly caused by racism (and specifically anti blackness) but certain people ignore that factor completely
#I’ve started just scrolling past any type of post I see about people complaining about people using TikTok lingo irl#and then proceeding to blame it entirely on individuals#I can guarantee you that such a post also has people saying that censorship like that doesn’t even exist on TikTok#I’m getting really sick of having to have this damn conversation over and over again#anyways#the things that have been done to the exclamation gyatt alone should be grounds for imprisonment Jesus Christ#the TikTok ban is like an undeniably bad thing and if/when it goes through it’ll set a very bad precedent for American democracy#but if it does go through at the very least white peoples crimes against aave will be stopped#one can hope#I’m African and Canadian not African American#but the number 1 way I explain the dangers of cultural appropriation is what people on TikTok are doing to aave#even the most stubborn African uncle who thinks that white supremacy will save us is like no yeah that is actually insane#rambles#rants#TikTok#I just started thinking and then I started yapping

rhaenyra having sex with criston and harwin is viewed as liberating. her kissing mysaria is viewed as liberating. she is, apparently, a sexually liberated individual. i could talk about how she was further aroused by criston (who is far below her in terms of status) saying no (which would be perceived as absolutely outrageous if it was a prince and a maid). i could talk about how she and mysaria kissed after the latter disclosed her horrific sexual trauma to rhaenyra. but i won’t. rhaenyra is perceived as a sexually liberated individual.
but alicent? she’s to, inadvertently, blame for the death of her grandson, because she had consensual sex for the first time of her entire life. her sexuality is written to degrade and humiliate her. this is a woman who has undergone years of marital rape by a man who proceeded to ignore and belittle both her and their children (which were conceived through said marital rape). the first relationship she has that is ever consensual, she is faulted for the literal murder of a child, her own grandson. i could talk about how literally every one of the greens’ sexuality is written as degrading and belittling and meant to be viewed as abusive, hypocritical and weird, but i won’t.
this show is horrifically misogynistic and weird to characters they don’t deem as sexually liberating girlbosses.

When Sara Tasneem started high school, she dreamed of joining the Air Force and attending law school. Living with her mom in Colorado, she participated in JROTC, attended basketball games and had a boyfriend her own age.
But while visiting her dad in Mountain View at age 15, she was forced into an arranged marriage with a man nearly twice her age. Because her father believed she had broken the rules of her strict religious sect by having a boyfriend, she was married without her consent.
Her dad introduced her to the man who had been chosen for her at a coffee shop one morning. By that night, they were married in a spiritual ceremony in a Los Angeles hotel room. Six months later, she was legally married in Nevada.
From the day of her forced wedding, Tasneem said, her life became unrecognizable. She was withdrawn from school. She was forced to become pregnant with her first child at 16. She was taken out of the U.S. to her husband’s home country for six months.
“I was basically handed to this stranger,” Tasneem said. “All of my reproductive rights were taken from me that night, all of my bodily autonomy was taken from me. My entire childhood was taken from me.”
Tasneem, who is now 43 and lives in El Sobrante, was trapped in her marriage until she was 23, when she was finally able to initiate divorce proceedings after eight years and two children. She had to leave her children with their father while she figured out her next steps but was eventually able to get them back.
In California law, there is no age limit to marry. A minor must get the permission of at least one parent or guardian and approval from a judge to obtain a marriage license or domestic partnership.
Now, Tasneem and other survivors of child marriage are drawing attention to a bill in Sacramento that could ban all child marriages in California by setting the minimum marriage age to 18 — a bill that stalled in a committee controlled by a South Bay legislator.
Tasneem is not alone in her experience. California is one of only four U.S. states that does not set a minimum age for marriage, allowing individuals of any age to marry with the permission of a parent and a judge.
AB 2924, which would strike existing legal language that allows provisions for marriage under 18, was introduced by Assemblymember Cottie Petrie-Norris, D-Orange County, in February.
The bill received opposition from Planned Parenthood Affiliates of Northern California, ACLU California Action and the National Center for Youth Law, which argued that it would drive abusive relationships underground and limit the rights of those under the age of 18 who willingly want to marry.
In April, the bill’s hearing in the judiciary committee was canceled at Petrie-Norris’ request, according to the bill’s legislative history.
However, anti-child-marriage activists blame Assemblymember Ash Kalra, the chair of the judiciary committee, for the bill’s withdrawal, stating that he supported amendments that would gut the bill.
These amendments included banning marriage under the age of 16 but allowing the court petition process for 16- and 17-year-olds and emancipated minors, Petrie-Norris said.
Though she said she believed this would be a “meaningful step” that would have made California’s marriage laws stronger than 37 other states, Petrie-Norris said that she ultimately decided to pause the bill because the survivors she was working with believe there should be no exceptions.
“I have tremendous respect for the lived experience of the survivors and advocates who I was working with on this bill,” Petrie-Norris said. “After considering our options for this legislative session, I decided to pause the bill rather than move forward with a compromise proposal that they do not support.”
Kalra declined an interview request from the Bay Area News Group. ______________________
Was looking for a non paywalled version of this, when I ran across this one
California, a solidly Democratic state, was on track to be the first to pass an absolute ban on marriages for children under 18. But the legislative proposal was met with opposition from liberal organizations like Planned Parenthood, the Children's Law Center and the American Civil Liberties Union. The pushback comes out of concerns that imposing an age requirement could set the stage for a slippery slope when it comes to constitutional rights or reproductive choices, specifically that an age requirement could impede a minor's ability to seek an abortion.
Now they worry about slippery slope.
Main article keeps going under the cut, archive link here
No exceptions
A California law passed in 2018 added stricter restrictions for minors to obtain a marriage license or domestic partnership, including separate interviews of the spouses and parents by a judge and family court services to determine if coercion, child abuse or trafficking are a factor, according to its text. The law also implemented a requirement that counties track and report the number of marriages involving minors.
Petrie-Norris’s bill would remove the ability of minors to marry at all, setting the minimum age to 18 with no exceptions. The bill had 20 co-authors across both parties and houses. Petrie-Norris began work on the issue in 2021, she said.
“This was a wildly popular bill,” said Fraidy Reiss, the co-founder of Unchained at Last, which provides direct legal, social and financial services to survivors and those escaping forced marriages and advocates to end child marriage in all 50 states. The organization worked with Petrie-Norris on the bill for more than a year to build a coalition of support, Reiss added.
The U.S. signed onto a United Nations pledge to end child marriage by 2030, but only thirteen states have made marriage under the age of 18 illegal since 2018. According to a 2021 study by Unchained at Last, 300,000 minors were legally married in the U.S. between 2000 and 2018.
California’s child marriages
In 2021, more than 8,000 minors in California between 15 and 17 years old reported becoming married during the previous year, according to Unchained at Last’s analysis of data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey. In 2022, the number increased to more than 9,000, according to Unchained at Last. About 86% of these marriages involved underage girls marrying adult men, according to Unchained at Last’s 2021 study.
California state data collected since 2019 has reported fewer than 15 children marrying each year, according to Unchained at Last. Currently, only marriage certificates that are returned to counties with a court order are required to be counted.
The discrepancy in data is interpreted differently by Unchained at Last and the organizations opposing the bill.
The data collection mandated by the 2018 law regarding child marriage is unfunded, and many counties are not complying, Reiss said, leading to inaccurate data. Planned Parenthood, the ACLU and National Center for Youth Law said in a letter of opposition that they believe that the numbers indicate that minors are marrying in spiritual or extralegal ceremonies instead of through the legal process.
Since Unchained at Last was founded in 2011, “more and more” girls under the age of 18 have been seeking assistance, Reiss said.
“We realized there’s almost nothing we can do for someone who is not yet 18,” Reiss said. “The only thing we can do for them is change the law.”
Girls who get married as children often have worse economic and health outcomes. Child brides are more likely to experience domestic violence and less likely to stay in school, according to UNICEF. Pregnant teenage girls are more likely to have complications during pregnancy and childbirth. There are also negative mental health impacts due to isolation from family and friends.
“Child marriage destroys almost every aspect of a girl’s life,” Reiss said, calling it a “nightmarish legal trap.”
The stalemate at the statehouse
ACLU California Action, Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California and the National Center for Youth Law wrote a joint letter to Petrie-Norris opposing AB 2924, arguing that a ban on marriage under 18 would drive abusive relationships underground, and limit the rights of minors willingly entering marriages, according to the text.
The three organizations each sent the letter in response to interview requests from the Bay Area News Group.
“We support what we believe are the intentions of the bill, to address the harms of coerced and abusive relationships on young people and protect them from abuse,” the letter reads. “However, we also strongly believe in and support self-determination and bodily autonomy for all people, including young people who are pregnant and/or parenting.”
Petrie-Norris pointed out that the International Planned Parenthood Federation supports legislation setting 18 as the minimum age for marriage.
“Forced child marriage is a practice that strips children of their autonomy, sexual and reproductive freedom, forces them into adulthood prematurely and shields rapists from criminal charges — so I find opponents’ arguments a bit ironic and misplaced — particularly when they have supported the same legislation in other states,” Petrie-Norris said.
The letter cites protections put into place by the 2018 law, including that marriages of minors are screened by a judge and Family Court Services counselor. It also points to California law that considers relationships with a “very young teen” or a “significant” age gap to be child abuse, adding that this should “prevent any such marriage from passing the existing legal test.”
Unchained at Last critiqued the safeguards provided by California law, saying in its “Reality Check” document on child marriage in California that “when an individual is forced to marry, their own parent almost always plays a crucial role in facilitating it.”
Reiss said that allowing abusive parents to marry off their children or allowing children in abusive relationships to marry their abusers provides no benefit to the child.
Tasneem added that a child marrying an adult “in and of itself is abusive because one person is holding power over another.”
The organizations also argue that removing the ability to marry under the age of 18 would have consequences for minors who “willingly enter a marriage,” according to the letter, especially young parents.
“Denying these young people the right to marry — without compelling evidence that it will solve an existing problem — further stigmatizes their circumstances and does not allow them to make health decisions for themselves and their families,” the letter reads.
The opposition letter adds that, because the nationwide right to get an abortion was overturned in Dobbs v. Jackson, it is important to invest “in approaches that expand, not remove, access to care and resources for young people.”
Both Tasneem and Reiss, who spoke about how their own reproductive and bodily rights were taken from them when they were forced into marriage, said that this argument is unfounded and that marriage should be treated as a separate issue from reproductive rights.
Reiss added that 96% of minors who enter into marriage are 16 or 17 years old.
“I’d rather you pass nothing than make it 16 or 17, and then wash your hands and say, ‘Wow, we solved that problem,’ ” Reiss said. “Why would you even bother passing a bill that’s going to help approximately 4% of the people it’s supposed to help?”
The path forward
Tasneem testified about her experience with child marriage in Sacramento in support of AB 2924 and met with Kalra about the bill.
She recalled Kalra being “upset” by her experience with child marriage but said that he told her that she needs to come to the table with Planned Parenthood because they should be on the same side.
“To me, it’s Planned Parenthood that’s standing in the way,” Tasneem said. “I just don’t understand — we really should be on the same side in this situation.”
Tasneem is one of several advocates who has met with Planned Parenthood multiple times about this bill, she said.
“They have kind of seemed to dig their heels in a little bit and made this a little bit more of a political issue versus looking at this as an actual issue that affects children,” Tasneem said.
Petrie-Norris said that the bill will not move forward this year due to the legislative calendar and committee deadlines, but she is “confident that the issue is not going away.”
“I like to believe that there is always an opportunity for compromise,” she said.
Tasneem and other survivors plan to continue to push for change at the statehouse — through legislation and protest. On July 18, Unchained at Last hosted a “chain-in” protest outside Kalra’s San Jose office, dressed in wedding gowns with chains around their wrists, calling attention to the bill and its stall.
“I want to protect the people with the smallest voice in this process, and that’s the minor,” Tasneem said. “Nobody looks out for them — not their parents, not the law, not lawyers, not politicians. Nobody..”

To kind of add onto the Aoiaoi post from earlier I just wanted to include a few things I didn’t mention cause discourse
Akane didn’t strangle Aoi, but he still pushed her over, and proceeded to grab her by the neck and forced her upwards, hence the coughing. That’s still bad, actually!
Tbhktwt is having a moment right now, and I feel like a lot of people are either overblowing / diluting the conflict in the chapter. Akane is being forceful, both physically and not, and that’s not good! It’s obvious to say that in no other situation would Aoi have confronted her issues, but that doesn’t take away from the invasive act of it. He isn’t just forcing her to confront her feelings, he’s distressing her on purpose to prove his point, no matter his intentions he’s still doing something wrong. They’re both incredibly messed up individuals, and Aoi has a lot of blood on her hands as well.
Aoi intended on killing herself, and when Akane got in her way, she took him with her.
I’ve reread Akane & Aoi multiple times and still sit on the conclusion that their confrontation solved nothing. Akane is upset at Aoi for lying to people, but he doesn’t once try to rationalize why she’s doing so. Instead, he puts all the blame on her. He claims to understand her so deeply yet not once does he show her an ounce of grace. All he does is make her problems a “what about me?”, he doesn’t ask her anything, it’s all just what he thinks. “Why do you act like this?” Would’ve been a lot better than just getting in her face to yell, I think. Aoi has reasons for the way she acts, not excuses, but she tells him why she thinks that way and he still doesn’t get it. He repeatedly dismisses her distress, and gets in her space when she doesn’t want him to. She isn’t flustered, she’s uncomfortable. Which should be obvious considering the difference between the expressions she makes when she is! This chapter, and I really can’t stress this enough, is the farthest thing from romantic, and absolutely eons away from being even remotely healthy. This chapter is a hard and uncomfortable read, because of how deeply gross it is.
Aoiaoi is an incredibly complex relationship that shows two people in a toxic codependency, and Akane & Aoi is the absolute breaking point. They’re both fucked up in ways that only being apart can fix, and when forcing them to “confront” their issues, it’s just going to get messy. The objective view of them as peers is muddled when you focus on the imbalance between the two. Aoi has dealt with constant harassment from childhood, and as shown in the chapter, and has assumedly been mostly sexual harassment. And for Akane show such a clear disregard of her comfort is gross in basically every way. That is the rock bottom of Aoiaoi, and I am so tired of people justifying what happens just because they like them.
And I can repeat this a thousand times, every relationship in tbhk is flawed. But that doesn’t mean you should ignore the bad behavior in them, and using it as an excuse is exhausted and weird. You can like Aoiaoi all you want, but that doesn’t mean you should justify the bad shit! Every relationship is flawed, but that doesn’t mean they’re all flawed the same. Not everything is toxic yaoi, some things are just toxic, and acknowledging that is really important. Don’t justify abuse or mistreatment! I think!
I could restate the whole end-part of the original Aoiaoi post but I don’t feel like it. Uhmmmm I don’t hate Aoiaoi I just personally think they should be treated by the fandom at large with more tact and care. They’re volatile and in a lot of cases I see people just, ignore the toxicity, in favor of a cute ship and that’s not great. Understanding flaws within characters is important, don’t be dense, don’t be misogynistic! Cause Aoi hate is usually that! Akane hate isn’t though as much as I love him he has his,,,low points (this entire post) and deserves getting thrown through multiple stained glass windows
Uh ninja out bye
#hot cheese#jshk#tbhk#jibaku shounen hanako kun#toilet bound hanako kun#akane aoi#aoi akane#something about tagging uhm yeah#they make me ill In the bad way#I wish I had something positive to say about them but I care so little the only time I do is when i have something negative to say#I don’t hate straight people (lie) don’t hit me

nono tell us the angst i wanna hear it
You asked. You are receiving :)
Rodimus never liked looking back much, but here he found himself, scrolling through old photos in the dark of his room. For some reason, the cracks on his phone screen seemed worse than before. He’d never bothered with repairs, as the device had continued working just fine. It wasn’t like he could afford to get it fixed anyway. The last few years hadn’t been kind, and the future didn’t look much better, which was probably why he was willing to look backwards to get a taste of better times.
When he made it back far enough to the moments he captured during the Lost Light adventure— his Lost Light adventure, he lingered on each one a little longer than the last.
A group pic of the entire medical crew, including that Decepticon mechanic— what was her name? Nickel?
A video of Drift getting his ass kicked by Cyclonus in a duel.
Magnus in the supersized armor Brainstorm had slapped together for the showdown with the DJD.
Soon, Rodimus was tired of keeping company with nostalgia. There was no use looking back when those days and those feelings were long-gone.
He began swiping faster, not really having a goal in mind except to escape the pull of the sadness that was trying to settle inside him. Drift was better with feelings. He’d often teased Rodimus about that fact.
I miss you, Drift. My feelings felt safe when you were around. Nowadays, they just taunt me.
Familiar gray flew across the screen beneath his thumb. Rodimus swiped back until he found the source.
A small laugh escaped him. The photo was one of many selfies he’d taken during his adventure. What set it apart from the others was a camera-shy Megatron in the background, trying his best to avoid the picture by sliding his head down into his chest.
Rodimus didn’t have many photos with Megatron. It was ironic that the guy who spent most of his life in the spotlight commanding armies and not-armies turned out to hate focused attention. Then again, drawing up battle plans and bossing others around is very different from being forced to do almost nothing while having a picture taken.
That thought struck something deep inside Rodimus. He realized he understood Megatron, in this respect. They were different in many ways, but they both had trouble just being. Forward momentum was everything to both of them. Rodimus chased the thrill of the next exciting thing while Megatron had chased the thrill of power. Of conquest.
Part of him fought against the newfound revelation, but another part of him welcomed it. The sudden need to share this with Megatron rose up within him.
But reality followed closely behind.
Megatron was gone.
The trial had taken place several years ago—the exact year forgotten by Rodimus. The memory that spilled back into his consciousness first was of the crowds surrounding Raskol Arena.
The arena. That horrible, beautiful arena.
He remembered the angry crowd of bots, many of whom were holding signs stained with their own energon. The message was clear. Decepticons blamed Megatron for leading them down a path with nothing but pain to show for it while the Autobots blamed him for that and everything else. Neutrals weren’t any less angry for their own reasons.
As usual, Rodimus had arrived late. He nearly got his head smashed in by angry spectators as he shoved his way through them to get into the stadium. Similar to last time, a limit had been placed on how many were allowed into the stadium with pre-approved individuals taking priority before regular civilians were allowed inside. This meant most of those who had come to watch were forced to stay outside, which did nothing to ease the tension.
Compared to the last attempt at a trial, security was much tighter. Rodimus had struggled to get proper clearance until Prowl intervened. He was the last bot Rodimus expected to speak on his behalf, but he was grateful. Rodimus had hoped to get information from Prowl about the planned proceedings, but the weary strategist was locked into “job mode” and wouldn’t share anything as he helped Rodimus find a spot from where he could watch without trouble.
With a sharp comment about not being late next time if he wants to get in, Prowl turned around quickly and walked off. Rodimus watched Prowl until the tips of his gold chevron disappeared into the crowd. I’ll ask someone else later, then.
The first day of proceedings went relatively smoothly. This time, it was the Galactic Council that had gathered to preside over the trial, but it was no less tense. Witnesses were called up. Heated words were exchanged. Nothing new.
Day two arrived, and Rodimus managed to show up on time, by some miracle. Drift was waiting for him. He said something about Prowl sending him to keep an eye out for a certain straggler. They both knew what he’d meant.
Drift led Rodimus to their seats. As soon as they sat down, Drift caught Rodimus up on everything Prowl had told him.
Oh, so he’ll talk to the former Decepticon, but not me?
Rodimus was glad he didn’t put much effort into trying to understand Prowl. He figured he’d probably end up driving himself crazy. But if Rodimus was honest with himself, he was glad guys like Prowl existed, despite how much he hated being around him. Rodimus knew he wouldn’t be any good in Prowl’s position as a prosecutor, especially in a trial as huge as Megatron’s.
The day was as uneventful as the first one. Besides the angry crowd outside and the occasional disruption, everyone remained relatively civil as witness after witness was called up. It was almost eerie.
Each day after that, Rodimus managed to arrive on time, and Drift was always there to meet him.
Eventually, Rodimus gave his testimony on behalf of Megatron. It was the last day of the trial, and everyone was anxious to be done with it. Rodimus was torn between wanting it to be over and dreading the end.
During a recess, Rodimus met up with Magnus, who escorted him to Megatron’s cell for what he assumed was his final visit.
To Rodimus, Megatron seemed oddly serene for someone about to be sentenced either to death or infinite imprisonment. As they talked, Rodimus guessed that, like him, Megatron had more to say, but was holding back. However, unlike Drift, he wasn’t any good at coaxing others to open up, so he let those words go unspoken.
When Ultra Magnus returned and announced that a verdict had been reached, Rodimus fell silent. He watched as Magnus and Megatron said their goodbyes and let Megatron say his final piece.
Sure, Megatron deserved much more than whatever was coming to him, but it still saddened Rodimus to hear it from his friend.
Friend.
Yes. Rodimus was finally ready to admit that, against all odds, Megatron had indeed become a friend to him. It was a bit late to accept it, but he refused to fight it this time.
Before he had a chance to say anything to Megatron, the former warlord was on his way back to the sentencing chamber with Ultra Magnus. Rodimus looked down at the broken Rodimus Star in his hand and ran his thumb over the cracks and the jagged edge where a piece was missing.
With resolve, he ran as fast as he could to join everyone else for the declaration of the final verdict. He located Drift in the frenzy of anxious spectators, and the two of them made their way to their seats.
Despite the lack of a roof, the entire place felt suffocating to Rodimus as the Galactic Council took their seats and requested that Megatron stand to his feet. Ultra Magnus rose with him.
The silence of the crowd was unnerving. Rodimus noticed Prowl and several security guards step up onto the elevated platform, closing in around Megatron and Magnus. They expected trouble.
As soon as the words “to be executed” were uttered, the silence was shattered by a deafening roar from the crowd inside the stadium and from outside its walls.
Within moments, the shouts of victory were replaced with shouts of anger and panic. Absolute chaos ensued. Rodimus looked back and registered a wave of bots pouring in. The crowd outside had broken through security forces and was pouring into the stadium at a stampede’s pace from multiple entrances, even some that had been previously closed off. Those already inside began to panic.
On instinct, Rodimus grabbed Drift and started making his way toward the middle of the stadium, as he figured that was where everyone would inevitably be pushed. It was better than possibly getting trampled, and some crazy part of him still hoped to say something—anything to Megatron one last time.
Rodimus noticed Prowl standing in front of Megatron on the elevated platform, shouting commands over comms and directing security forces to surround the two of them, Magnus, and the Galactic Council.
Nice going, Prowl. You might make my energon boil, but I’ll admit you’re pretty damn good at keeping people alive when all hell breaks loose.
Drift had no trouble keeping up with Rodimus. The two of them darted and wormed their way through the obstacle course of panicked bots. Whatever barriers were put in place did nothing to stop the frenzied mass of bodies making its way toward the middle of the stadium.
Those who had flight-capable alt modes took to the skies and escaped that way. Some with ground modes transformed, but with nowhere to go, they were pushed around or climbed over.
Rodimus abandoned himself to the rush of adrenaline surging through him. He and Drift were close to reaching the center when the crowd suddenly shifted and closed in further.
The pathway to Megatron was blocked.
Despite his best attempts, Rodimus was unable to break through. Beside him, Drift looked ready to draw both of his swords, as things were quickly going from bad to worse with bots getting trampled several rows behind them, if one could even call them rows.
Megatron and the rest of the middle group were secure within their ring of security guards, although things were getting tight there too.
A break in the crowd opened up for a split-second, allowing Rodimus and Drift to move a few feet closer to the inner circle.
Now close enough for Megatron to see him, Rodimus began waving both his hands above his head and shouting Megatron’s name. Never mind the fact that it was way too loud to hear each other speak if he did manage to get his attention. Rodimus just wanted one last something from Megatron. In all likelihood, this was the last time they’d lay eyes on each other, and Rodimus refused to let him go without a last goodbye.
Drift joined him in trying to get Megatron’s attention. The two of them had made it this far together, and Rodimus found himself smiling at how ridiculous they must look to everyone else.
Finally, Megatron noticed them. He locked eyes with Rodimus first, and then Drift.
He smiled.
Rodimus liked to think that if Megatron had been uncuffed, he would have waved back at them. Now that they’d seen each other, Rodimus and Drift stopped waving, unsure of what to do next.
The smile on Megatron’s face faded. A somber look was in its place, and he appeared to be contemplating something.
After a moment, he met Rodimus’ eyes again and shouted something.
Unable to hear above the steadily increasing panic around them, Rodimus stared at Megatron in confusion. The guards were beginning to close in further around the inner circle and pull him out of sight.
Megatron tried again, but this time, he chose not to use his voice and instead focused on mouthing the words:
Thank you.
He looked at Drift and did the same.
Before Rodimus could fully register what Megatron had said, he was out of sight. Then Prowl yelled at Soundwave over comms.
Something pierced the air—a sound so deafening it was disorienting. Everyone covered their audio receptors, doubled over in pain, or both.
It didn’t take long for bots on the outer edges to start making their way out of the stadium, gradually freeing up space inside.
Once the stadium was empty enough, the sound ceased. Using the stadium’s PA system, Prowl coldly apologized for the disturbance and asked everyone who remained to vacate the premises. Calmly.
Drift was ready to leave, but Rodimus had other plans. He waited until almost everyone had cleared out before trotting back toward the center where Prowl was. As he approached him, he noticed a piece of Prowl’s chevron was missing on the left side, probably lost during the commotion of earlier.
As soon as the strategist laid eyes on him, he scowled.
“Did Soundwave’s trick make you deaf? I told everyone to leave.”
“Oh, so that was Soundwave, was it? Not surprised you had a plan.”
Prowl scoffed. “Of course I had a plan. All those bots in one place during the biggest trial in Cybertronian history wasn’t going to end any other way.”
“Maybe not,” Rodimus replied.
They fell into an awkward silence.
Prowl shifted. “Anything else?”
“Uh, yeah. Sort of.”
Rodimus pulled out the broken Rodimus Star and held it, feeling the jagged edge again. He glanced up at Prowl.
“You should probably get that fixed,” he said, gesturing to the damaged chevron. The old red peeked out from under the gold.
Prowl lifted his hand and felt where Rodimus had pointed. “Great. It’s broken again.”
“Again?” Rodimus questioned.
“Long story. Not telling. Just get to your point, unless you’re really wasting my time by giving me aesthetic recommendations.”
Rodimus chuckled. “Same old Prowl.”
“You have no idea.”
“Yeah, I probably don’t. Anyway”—Rodimus held out the Rodimus Star to Prowl— “Thought I’d give you this.”
Prowl stared blankly at the gold star. “What is it?”
“Consider it an award for keeping people alive today.”
This earned Rodimus a glare.
“Why would I want a worthless trinket for doing my job?”
Rodimus sighed. “It’s not a ‘worthless trinket,’ Prowl. It’s something I would give to members of my crew for doing something I thought should be recognized. Something they’re good at.”
Prowl considered the explanation. “I see.”
Based on the skepticism in Prowl’s voice, Rodimus guessed he was thinking of every reason why it was ridiculous. It was a star. With Rodimus’ face on it.
He held the star up to Prowl’s face. “Just take it, okay? I don’t care if you think it’s stupid.”
Prowl took the star from Rodimus and scrutinized it.
Rodimus continued. “And don’t you dare throw it out or lose the thing somewhere. It…It means a lot to me and someone else I know.”
Once satisfied that Prowl was serious about keeping his reward, Rodimus turned to leave.
“Thank you,” came Prowl’s delayed response.
Rodimus turned around and gave Prowl a thumbs-up and a smile as he jogged back towards Drift who’d been patiently waiting for him near the exit.
Rodimus smiled sadly at the memories.
He thought about how Megatron had been taken away before he’d had a chance to respond to him.
He thought about Prowl and wondered if the guy still had that silly little star.
The photo on his phone beckoned him again. Rodimus ran the tip of his thumb over the cracked phone screen, noticing this time how the cracks over Megatron’s half-hidden face were the worst.
“You’re welcome, Megs.”
Before he could talk himself out of it, Rodimus pulled up Prowl’s old number and sent the photo to him with two words:
“You’re welcome.”

Betrayal, Mistake and Monster for Silva 😊 Please !
Jumping straight to the angstiest of angsts I see. Into the devastating life of Silva we go!
Also this kind of becomes like rambling because I'm very invested in my stuff. Also it's long... so read if you want, take breaks if you must.
TW: Mentions of child abuse (in all forms), a really fascist and shitty society, massacre, death, grooming (in all forms) and cult stuff. Father Adam Omar is officially his own warning. It gets kind of dark sometimes but thankfully not in the FULLEST of details. Continue below:
betrayal: Has your OC ever been betrayed by someone they thought they could trust? Has your OC ever betrayed someone who trusted them?
On the receiving end of betrayal there's only been two major ones and two minor ones. It's not in entirely detail and is slightly a summary since there's a lot more to this.
I make no subtlety in the fact that Silva and Elsa's father, Adam Omar, is an abhorrent individual who deserves to die. He is a danger to his current children, the predecessors he sired before them, and literally everyone else. Anyone who was not under his cult and dictatorship could have looked at Adam and the society he lead and immediately notice the red flags surrounding him. With that said, Silva had been born in the Congregation of Adam's Guard, so what would be deplorable and unacceptable to us was the norm to Silva and Elsa growing up. Adam was Silva's primary caretaker and the one person (barely) keeping her alive and healthy, even if it was clear that he despised her and favored Elsa. The problem was, Adam's delusions and extreme control freak nature often lead him away from his intended purpose for Silva (his plan to groom her into the "Judas" who would be the embodiment of sin and activate the Collapse vs his sick desire to groom her into the role to be his "Eve" and/or kill her for existing... neither great options), so he gave very mixed signals on how much he "cared" for Silva. His constant swings from disdainful neglect and abuse to pride, compliments and reward caused Silva to both crave for his touch and love but also to fear it. But despite his malicious intentions, Silva was caught in his narrative that he did care for her but her "sins" made it difficult, and only he could "fix" her. Silva trusted her father... what child wouldn't? Even though Adam's betrayal had come years before (nearly killing her as an infant, nearly drowning her during her first (of many) baptisms, his neglect and abuse, his grooming, forcing her to witness graphic violence, etc), the most significant events that made Silva realise she had been betrayed by Adam came in three parts; first, at the age of ten, she noticing Adam's (age 52) attention shift from her to Elsa (age 9) and overhearing his plan to get rid of her, second discovering the pile of bodies of her half-siblings (or as he called them, Silva and Elsa's failed predecessors) upon been thrown down into the cellar to be killed later, and lastly, at the age of 18 during the Tumultite Massacre, confronting Adam (age 60) in his palace seeking answers for why she didn't love her as a parent should (as Paul had shown her a parent should), he made it clear that, in the grand scheme of the Lord's plan, while Elsa and her predecessors were merely a means to an end that he could tolerate, Silva herself meant absolutely nothing to him but a constant reminder of failure that fueled his justification to be a raging, bigoted and hate-filled asshole towards her all the while blaming her for not being what he wanted (both as his "Judas" and his "Eve")[<- NOTE: This entire sentence is merely an abridged summary of what he meant and had said to Silva, Adam himself would never admit any wrongdoing nor call himself anything insulting to his self-perceived character]. Then he proceeded to chase her down in an attempt to kill her once again. Thankfully Silva, Elsa (age 17) and Persephone (a week or two old) managed to get to a boat and got away from the Archipelagos and the Congregation.
That was one major betrayal Silva had to deal with and one that still haunts her. The second major betrayal was with her adoptive father, Paul Yellowjack. Five years after escaping the Tumultite Massacre and making residence in Hope County with her sister and daughter (though the former only gets to spend the first two years with them before dying in an accident at age 19 or 20 haven't decided), Paul (age 51) visits Silva (age 23) at her residence, five years after she thought he died during the massacre that pretty much wiped out their entire community (with the exception of Kamski and Ezekiel, who survived but Silva wouldn't know that until she encounters Kamski later that year and Ezekiel during the New Dawn Arc). Despite the warm reunion, he insists for her and Persephone (age 5) to join his cult (the Apostles of Zachariah) which she refutes, because the Congregation was traumatizing and Eden's Gate has been harassing her over her late-sister's floristry. Paul initially accepted this and swiftly left... then later the next day ambushed her with the rest of the Heralds of the Orchestrator, kidnapping Persephone, and forcing Silva to go on a six-month travel across the globe hunting down these heralds looking for her daughter. So for context... Paul went a little mad after the massacre and joined a cult whose whole premise was "the individual cannot grow nor live without suffering and must be traumatised to better adapt" (plus a whole bunch of other ideals). The ultimate betrayal comes when (eventually) Silva corners Paul with Kamski's (age 55) help, though Paul (out of a combination of feeling betrayed himself, a punishing retribution to avenge his fallen adopted children, pure spite for ruining his operations and slight envy towards his granddaughter) had murdered Persephone right in front of Silva (something that would shake and reshape Silva's character drastically and lead to Paul's own life-long self-loathing and regret for his selfish actions). Paul pays this betrayal with his life upon the final month (though as you will learn in the New Dawn arc, this only ends Paul on the material plane, and grants him a doorway to a supernatural state...)
The minor betrayals Silva experiences come from Eden's Gate (a hostile takeover is not taken well by Silva, especially if the one/s committing it are pretending they aren't in any wrong) and Denise Lapis (unfortunate forced wife to Captain of the Enforcers, Oscar Lapis, who had been taken in by the Tumultites after finding her near death, though she betrays them by tipping off the Enforcers to the planned rescue mission for Elsa. Though Silva was (justifiably) mad about this at the time, especially when it gave the Enforcers an opportunity to surprise her community with a massacre that killed her lover, Persephone's mother and Kamski's daughter, Irene Neon, five to eight years later after having to reflect upon her life, Silva understood Denise was as much as a victim as she was and only did what she did out of fear, rationalizing that, had she still been under Adam's thumb and in Denise's position, she would have probably done the same thing).
Now, Silva herself betraying is only very minor, and from the (questionable) perspective of others and herself. Adam would obviously think Silva to have done this to him, even when he tried to set her up as this to the Tumultites (which failed), but from Paul's perspective, this may be the case, especially during the six-months she hunted down Paul and the Apostles, but eventually years later he realises this to be false and that he was definitely at fault for his own actions. But for Silva herself, thanks to her survivor's guilt and self-blame, she believes that if she is unable to help another community overcome an oppressive force who is way too similar to the Congregation for her to even be able to disassociate the two, if she fails in saving more lives than she could in the massacre, or worse, gives in and joins Eden's Gate (which to her, regardless if they're morally better than Adam's Guard will ever be, will never provide a safety and belonging that she wants to have with the residents of Hope County), she feels then that she would be betraying the values of Jannah's Principles, tarnished the memory of the community who gave her freedom and an opportunity to live a normal life (at the cost of their own) and breaking another promise to her loved ones, leaving their sacrifices in vain. There's also the part in which in Silva's Hope, she has a moral crisis over whether or not to keep John, who she had spared and kept as a prisoner in her bunker, alive as an opportunity to end the Reaping at the potential cost of her friends and new community's trust in her for withholding the fact she didn't kill John despite all he had done, or to kill him to legitimize the lie as truthful and keep her friends at the cost of her own morals of killing a defenseless and imprisoned enemy who she actually started to view more positively and with more sympathy and friendliness (especially after Joseph's broadcasted eulogy, something that both reaffirms her belief that Joseph is a fraudulent prophet and the Collapse truly did happen in the Archipelagos in the form of the Tumultite Massacre, and also something that sours her view on Joseph even more and actually allows her to humanize John by recognizing herself in him). There's her eventual reoccurring meetings with Faith, which is a whole other can of worms that has some people (like Tracey, Jess and Virgil) pissed at her (in Silva's defense... she tried to be manipulative to give the Resistance an advantage... but it somehow turned from vibing-tolerance trying to get the other to crack a mask and gain any information that contributes to their respective factions into bickering enemy-friends who might sabotage their factions behind their leaders back just to help the other out once or twice into some kind of amalgamation of a messy friendship that leans on borderline romantic situationship but both parties don't know how to admit they like each other nor do they think they can so they just suffer in yearning thinking if they make the first move they'll ruin whatever comfortable relationship this is... among other things).
...Moving on.
mistake: What's the worst mistake your OC ever made? What led to them making it? Have they been able to fix it? How have they moved on?
I'd say there is two major mistakes Silva makes in her life.
First and foremost is not killing Adam Omar when she had the chance. She had him at gunpoint and he may be a 7'1 sixty-year-old giant built like brick empire states building, but he was still a man who could die from a gunshot (when the Voice's charm wasn't protecting him that is). It's the facts that Silva was a) hesitant to kill her father, even when he should be on an offender watchlist (preferably past tense) and b) she's eighteen and wanted answers to just why he is the way he is/did what he did/hated her from the very beginning despite being faithful and subservient (not a good thing). Unfortunately Adam is a self-righteous and victim-blaming dick so he said a breaking speech (that I will not post here) which was complete BS and gaslighted Silva into losing confidence enough to give him an opening but with still enough determined will to have the rationality to get away from him. She managed to fix that mistake with the Apostles and Paul (but is unsuccessful due to unforeseen events out of her control) and is trying to do the same with Joseph and Eden's Gate. Though, spoilers, she might be able to confront Adam once more in the main story... a day Adam will be determined to ruin. Her entire story is trying to move on but being unable to.
Second major mistake, in her POV, was not joining Paul and the Apostles, especially if it meant Persephone got to live. She knew the cult was wrong (slavery, torture, organized crime, chemical warfare, not really good things) but they managed to ingrain rules to follow in the Apostles that Adam's Guard just didn't care about. Like no sexual violation to the body or mind, everyone is equal and valuable, and kids are off limits (the last one Silva finds is being bent by the heralds Gaius and Zhan Tiri, the former finding a loophole of what ages define a child and adult in certain countries to put them through death playgrounds that end with a sacrifice and the latter isn't discriminate on who ends up on the receiving end of her poisons) [NOTE: While Paul does kill Persephone, unlike Adam, he feels immense guilt about it and doubles-down on the rule later]. They're evil, but there is standards and a certain nobleness to them (for lack of a better phrase). The only reason she didn't was because it went against her morals to let innocent people be taken from their lives to live one that was miserable and just plain suffering (is it likely Paul would have changed the cult up a bit if it made Silva more open to joining? Zachariah be damned? Perhaps. Though whether or not Silva would have still joined him then is another question with an unknown answer).
monster: Is your OC monstrous in any way? Is there something that makes them monstrous? Are they aware of their own monstrosity? Do they accept it or reject it?
I suppose desensitization to violence and death and the lack of empathy towards her enemies may count, considering she has a very high kill count and over the course of the stories she feels very justified in those deaths. She doesn't actually like it but no one has ever told her (in her very black and white view of the world) that its wrong so she's very aware its apart of her in some way, shape or form. Though this line of thought is muddied by her fight against the Seeds and Eden's Gate (including Nadi and Alexander) which introduces her to the gray in morality, something I'll explain another time. She accepts it at first but ultimately decides to reject it to not be like Paul and the Apostles or her father's Enforcers in the end.
Sorry this was long and not as refined as I would have wanted it to be, but I hope it gave enough insight. I do hope it is as understandable as I could make my ramblings be. Chow!

I’m Pale as the Loose-Leaf Paper They Grow (From Hollowing Out All My Lungs in the Snow)
Summary: Tom Simons, Prince of Endlantis, is sick. His father, King Philza, must venture to the neighbouring kingdom for medicine. In his absence, Tommy and his brother Wilbur are left in the care of Technoblade, a mysterious individual who Phil claims to trust more than anyone else in the entire world. Relationships: Tommy & Wilbur & Phil & Techno Warnings: Minor descriptions of illness Characters: Tommy, Wilbur, Phil, Techno Notes: A gift fic for @florasicsfr! Title comes from Nurse's Office by Melanie Martinez. [AO3 link]
To be frank, Tommy feels like shit. His nose is running, his eyes are itchy, and he’s sweating bullets despite the goosebumps lining his arms and legs. He groans, letting his head flop back onto the pillow behind him. He retrieves a tissue from his bedside table, taking care not to accidentally bump the crown sitting nearby before proceeding to bury himself within his blanket. He holds the tissue to his nose, an incoherent grumble escaping him.
Tommy blames Phil. He only got sick after he was forced to accompany his father to the tundra for what he said was ‘urgent business’. Urgent business my ass. Now he’s here, having been bedridden for two days now, wallowing in isolation and sorrow. Sure, he gets the occasional visitor, but he’d much rather be among the people, socialising and just— being himself. Instead, it feels as if he’s a completely different person, deprived of energy, all because of some stupid virus.
There’s a knock on the door. “Come in,” Tommy calls, his nasally voice muffled by the blanket currently thrown over his head. He assumes it’s just a maid, here to bring him a fresh box of tissues and possibly clean his room, depending on if he actually managed to stomach his food this time — which he did, thank you very much.
The blanket is abruptly tossed off of Tommy, the sudden exposure to the cool air sending a shiver down his spine. “Shit!” he shrieks, sitting up and lunging for the culprit of this heinous theft. Uncontrollable laughter stops him in his tracks, and his arms drop down onto his knees, bottom lip jutting out ever so slightly. “Wilbur!”
Wilbur wraps an arm around his stomach, wiping a tear from his eye. When he eventually calms down, he grabs at the glamorous robe draped around him, tossing it aside and flopping onto the bed beside his brother. “Sorry, sorry, Tom.” Wilbur grins. “I couldn’t resist.”
Tommy crosses his arms, turning his head away and pointing his chin upwards. “Well, I don’t accept your apology.”
“Aww, don’t be like that. Why not?”
“Because you’re a dick.”
Wilbur gasps, prompting Tommy to drop his over-dramatic facade. “Tommy. Now, is that any way a prince should speak?”
“Oh, shut up, man, you do it too!”
“In moderation,” Wilbur clarifies, smirking. “You, on the other hand, have the mouth of a sailor.”
Tommy opens his mouth to retort, but ends up spiralling into a coughing fit. Wilbur rests a hand on his shoulder, squeezing, and Tommy waves a hand as he hacks and wheezes.
“I’m fine, I’m—“
There’s another knock on the door, and before Tommy can react, Wilbur is patting his shoulder and standing. “I’ll get it, Tom. You sit tight and get comfy again, yeah?”
Tommy nods, watching as Wilbur approaches the door. He can’t see who’s on the other side, but based on Wilbur’s joyful exclamation, he can make a pretty good guess.
“You’re supposed to be resting, Tommy.”
“Hello to you too,” Tommy grumbles as his father approaches the bed, the smile on his face contradicting his scolding words. He takes a seat roughly where Wilbur was just moments before, reaching over to ruffle Tommy’s dishevelled hair.
“Wil and I have been talking,” Phil starts, running a hand through his hair. He’s not wearing his crown, which isn’t something Tommy sees every day. “You only seem to be getting sicker, and we hate seeing you looking… well, like shit. So, I’m gonna head over to Flowerfell and grab some medicine. Word is their stuff is super effective against colds and such.”
Tommy’s brow furrows. “Why not just get stuff from here? It’d save you the long-ass trip.”
“Endlantis’ medicine is crap, Tommy, why do you think Phil gets so many complaints every day from sick people?” Wilbur plants his hands on his hips and Phil throws him a look, clearly not impressed by his interjection.
“Yes, like Wilbur just said, our medicine isn’t the best at the moment. I am working on improving that, but for now, it’d be best to outsource for better results. Plus, the royals over there owe me a favour anyway.”
“So,” Tommy bites his lip, “you’re leaving?”
“Only for a little while.” Phil stands, turning and gently pushing Tommy until he’s laying down again. “You’ll be fine, I’ve left you two alone before.”
“Yeah, but—“ Tommy swallows. “You’ve got someone to stand in for you, yeah? By the sounds of it, this all seems to be on really short notice…”
Phil chuckles, crossing his arms. “It was a little difficult to find someone, but I did manage to sort that out in advance.”
Tommy turns onto his side, hugging his pillow and tucking his knees up towards his chest. “It’s not Jack Manifold again, is it? Hate that guy.”
“You only don’t like him because he lectured you about ‘princely behaviour’,” Wilbur throws up air quotes, “one time! He’s actually a great guy once you get to know him.”
Tommy flips Wilbur the bird. Phil sighs, running a hand down his face as he shakes his head. “No, Tom, it isn’t Jack. You two haven’t met this one before.”
“Wait, seriously?” Tommy says, at the same time Wilbur’s eyebrows raise.
“Okay, now I’m curious.” Mischievous twinkle in his eye, Wilbur grabs Phil’s arm. “Who is it, Phil, tell us.”
“Bruh, I’m getting to it,” Phil says, gently prying Wilbur off of him. Tommy throws the blanket back over himself, sniffling. “He’s been a friend of mine for a really long time, even before the two of you were born. His name is Technoblade.”
“Technoblade?” Wilbur’s eyes grow big, and Tommy pokes his head out from his bundle. “That’s such a badass name, what the hell?”
Tommy wishes to express similar excitement, but winds up in another fit of dry, wheezing coughs. Fuck’s sake, he thinks, huffing when Wilbur’s fingers tangle themselves into his hair.
Phil sees himself out a few minutes later, promising he’ll try his best to be back within forty-eight hours; possibly less depending on the Flowerfell royals’ attitude. Tommy and Wilbur share quiet snickers at that, knowing better than anyone how hard it can be to communicate with them, especially on their bad days.
“Techno should be here in an hour,” is the last thing the boys’ father says to them before they’re left to their own devices. At least until Techno arrives.
Tommy immediately begins whining.
The main door of the castle swings open, a gust of cold air rushing inside. Attention falls on the stranger who steps inside, the castle staff momentarily abandoning their work to stare at him with gazes of varying scepticism.
“Relex, everyone, quit lookin’ at me like that.” The stranger places his hands on his hips. “Your king sent me to keep an eye on things while he’s gone. Don’t tell me he didn’t say anything?”
He’s met with deafening silence. He sighs. “Figures. He’s an old man; of course he forgot.” He reaches his arms out on either side of himself, grinning. “Bow down before me, peasants, for I am the mighty Technoblade.”
More silence. Techno’s face falls, and his arms flop back down to his sides. “Bruh.”
“Technoblade?”
Techno’s gaze moves towards a nearby staircase, where a young man with a faint white streak in his hair has descended, coming to a stop at the bottom as his left hand slides off the rail. His clothing is much more regal than that of the staff, and a shiny, golden crown sits atop his head.
“Ah.” Techno takes a step forward, bowing his head slightly. “Prince Wilbur, I presume?”
Prince Wilbur smiles, nodding once. “My father told me you would be coming. On his behalf, allow me to extend a warm welcome to Endlantis.”
Techno chuckles, quietly enough that only he is able to hear it. He can’t help it; the kid just sounds so polite, too much so for his age, in Techno’s humble opinion. However, if being friends with Phil has taught him anything, this isn’t the prince’s true personality. Far from it, in fact.
“If you’d like, I can show you to your room. I imagine you’ll want to get your bearings and make yourself at home before you begin your duties.”
Techno grins. “Sounds great. Lead the way.”
The moment Techno and Wilbur reach the top of the stairs, Wilbur leans against the nearby wall, breaking into fits of giggles. The laughter is delightfully contagious, and Techno quickly finds himself joining in.
“Oh–” Wilbur snorts, wheezing at the pitch of an old tea kettle. “Oh my god, I almost couldn’t keep myself together, holy shit–” He starts fanning his face with a hand, taking a breath. “Sorry, sorry, I just– I’ve not had to do that for a while.”
“‘S alright,” Techno says, lifting his arms above his head and stretching. “Now, I know you mentioned showin’ me my room, but I hear there’s a sick child I wanna check up on first.”
Wilbur blinks. “Ah– of course!” He approaches the nearby hall, motioning for Techno to follow. “C’mon, I’ll bring you to him.”
Tommy can hear voices out in the hall. Though he recognises one, belonging to Wilbur, the other is strange and unfamiliar. His best guess is that it belongs to the aforementioned Technoblade.
The voices are just outside his room now. Someone knocks, and the door swings open. Tommy reaches for the tissue box, blowing his congested nose as Wilbur enters, Technoblade – or whoever it may be – trailing behind.
“Tommy! My best brother in the whole wide world,” Wilbur exclaims, flopping down onto the bed as Tommy sits up, despite knowing he really should just keep himself comfortable so he can rest. Wilbur extends an arm towards his company. “Meet Technoblade.”
Technoblade performs a half-hearted salute with two fingers, smiling softly. “Hey there, Tommy. Oh, and you guys can call me Techno if you want. Less of a mouthful, plus it’s what your dad calls me, so…”
“Is that your real name?” Tommy asks, completely out of the blue. Techno blinks, visibly taken aback by the question. “I mean— don’t get me wrong, Technoblade is a badass name, but it just doesn’t seem like something a parent would name their kid, y’know?”
Techno laughs. “Alright, alright, you caught me. The name ‘Technoblade’ is just an alias.”
Tommy’s eyes light up. Wilbur sighs quietly, shaking his head and smiling fondly. “So what’s your actual name?”
“That’s for me to know and you to never find out.” Tommy pouts, and Wilbur giggles. “Names and aliases aside, I think the first order of business before I begin my royal duties is to make sure you don’t starve to death.” He runs a hand through his hair. “Phil would actually kill me if one of his kids died on my watch.”
Tommy immediately retreats back underneath the blanket, and muffled sneezes can be heard moments later. Wilbur places his hand on the lump and pushes. Tommy yelps, but doesn’t emerge from his cocoon.
“C’mon, Tom, let Techno feed you.”
“Shut up, bitch,” Tommy responds, and Wilbur can imagine he’s being flipped the bird from within. “I can feed myself.”
“Yeah, but in that condition, I doubt you’ll be getting up to even make the food,” Techno interjects. “I’ll make you some soup, yeah?” Wilbur stands up, stretching, and Tommy huffs, defeated.
“…Mushroom?”
Techno nods, despite Tommy not being able to see him. “I’m sure that can be arranged.”
Technoblade sticks around for roughly two days. Tommy doesn’t find himself recovering at all, but the frequent visits from his brother and stand-in king at least make things bearable.
Wilbur slips in whenever he can between his tasks, when the castle staff’s gazes aren’t fixed on him. They chat, mostly about the annoying people Wilbur has to deal with. He claims that Tommy would handle them better. Tommy agrees.
Techno’s visits are less frequent, but Tommy doesn’t complain. Most of the time, he brings food, and even manages to smuggle a few desserts Phil had specifically informed the kitchen not to let Tommy get his hands on. When Tommy isn’t dying of a coughing fit or constantly sneezing, Techno lets him roam around the room for a time, as opposed to being confined to his bed like Phil instructed. They agree to keep quiet about it.
When Phil returns, the medicine he brings is a blessing. If he were able, Tommy would guzzle the entire contents. By the end of the day, he feels like a whole new prince. A whole new Tommy.
Techno is gone by the time Tommy ventures beyond his room. When he eventually finds Wilbur within the big, empty halls, he’s led to the study, where, tucked away in a hidden space, are some more sweet treats, a folded note placed carefully on top of them. Tommy doesn’t recognise the handwriting, but when he looks to Wilbur for an answer, his brother simply smiles.
Enjoy, Theseus - T

Signs of Air Handler Repairs in Frederick, MD and Manassas, VA
Having an HVAC installed to optimize the indoor temperature is common enough. Sure, one needs to maintain the system perfectly to ensure proper functionality. Most users fail to note individual components that need maintenance, especially cleaning to operate flawlessly. It is also essential to be well aware of the air ducts and handlers responsible for circulating clean and cool air throughout the room. Noting any unnatural signs that indicate air handler repairs in Frederick, MD, and Manassas, VA, as soon as possible is the best way to ensure comfort indoors. First things first, though. What is an air handler, and why is it important? It suffices to know that the handler contains a blower that moves the air around the room. The handlers are compatible with the heating and cooling units and operate according to the system used. The air handler is not the air conditioner or the furnace. Instead, it is a unit that complements the operation of the HVAC system. One may find filters, dampers, and mixing chambers in the air handler. The primary function of the air handler is to direct the air as needed.
Yes! It is difficult to understand whether there is something wrong with the handler instead of the entire HVAC system. Noting any of the following signs should be enough to request repairs to the air handling unit ASAP:
· Poor Air Circulation- The first thing that becomes noticeable is poor air circulation. There tend to be cold and hot spots throughout the room when the blower within the air handler is damaged, compromising its function. The HVAC system's ability to cool the air appropriately may be severely affected when the air handler cannot work properly.
· Poor Air quality- Ineffective circulation can result in affecting the quality of air too. The air reveals dust, dirt, and suspended pollutants that go a long way in affecting the users' health, too. While allergy and respiratory issues are often blamed on air ducts, it makes sense to have the air handlers checked by professionals for damage and defects, too
· Unusual Noises- The HVAC system will have to work extensively when the air handler is unable to distribute the air properly. This may result in strange sounds emitting out of the system. The sound is both jarring and disturbing. It is essential to have the entire system and individual components checked for damages.
· High Utility Bills—A malfunctioning air handler will not only put excessive strain on the HVAC system, compelling it to work round the clock, but it will also add to the energy costs. Additional energy consumption will result in high utility bills as well. Repairing the air handlers will reduce energy consumption, making electricity costs more affordable.
While the user may suspect damage to the air handler, a certified technician must inspect the unit before proceeding with the required air handler repairs in Frederick, MD, and Manassas, VA.

Embracing Change: Navigating Separation Rules in Australia with Positivity, Clarity, and Empowerment
Separation marks a significant life event, often accompanied by a mix of emotions ranging from uncertainty to the hope of a fresh start. In Australia, the legal process surrounding separation is governed by specific rules and regulations designed to safeguard the interests of all parties involved. While it may initially seem daunting, understanding the separation rules in Australia can empower individuals to approach this transitional period with positivity, clarity, and a sense of empowerment. In this comprehensive article, we delve into the key aspects of separation rules in Australia, exploring how they can pave the way for a brighter and more fulfilling future.
No-Fault Divorce: A Step Towards Amicable Resolutions
One of the foundational principles of separation in Australia is the no-fault divorce system. This means that during the divorce process, the reasons for the breakdown of the relationship are not taken into account. Instead, the focus is on finding amicable resolutions, minimizing unnecessary blame and animosity. Embracing the no-fault divorce principle allows couples to approach their separation with a spirit of understanding and cooperation. It provides a sense of liberation from the need to attribute fault and encourages both partners to work collaboratively towards mutually beneficial outcomes.
Separation Period: Allowing Time for Reflection and Growth
Under Australian law, couples are required to demonstrate that they have been separated for a minimum of 12 months before applying for a divorce. While the separation period may pose challenges, it also offers a valuable opportunity for reflection, growth, and self-discovery. This time can be utilized to heal emotional wounds, redefine personal goals, and identify strengths and areas for personal development. Instead of viewing the separation period as a hurdle, individuals can embrace it as a transformative phase that can lead to newfound resilience and self-awareness.
Mediation: Encouraging Constructive Communication and Cooperation
In matters involving property division, child custody, and financial arrangements, Australian law actively promotes mediation as an effective means of resolving disputes. Mediation fosters constructive communication between parties, providing a safe space to discuss concerns and work towards consensus-based solutions. By embracing mediation, individuals can significantly reduce the adversarial nature of legal proceedings and, instead, seek resolutions that consider the needs and wishes of everyone involved. This collaborative approach not only saves time and resources but also paves the way for healthier post-separation relationships.
Child-Centric Approach: Prioritizing the Best Interests of Children
For couples with children, Australian separation rules place a strong emphasis on a child-centric approach. The well-being and best interests of the children take precedence in matters related to custody and visitation arrangements. This approach encourages parents to work together, putting aside personal conflicts, to create parenting arrangements that prioritize the emotional and physical needs of their children. By focusing on the children's welfare, parents can foster a positive co-parenting dynamic that benefits the entire family unit. It instills a sense of responsibility and unity in the parenting journey, ensuring that children experience stability and security despite the family changes.
Fair and Equitable Property Division: Ensuring Financial Security
During separation, the division of assets and liabilities is subject to a fair and equitable process. Australian law considers factors such as the financial contributions of each party, non-financial contributions (such as caring for children or homemaking), and future needs. This approach aims to achieve a just outcome that provides both individuals with financial security and stability as they embark on separate paths. Embracing this process empowers individuals to make informed decisions about their financial future, ensuring that they are equipped to build a solid foundation for the next chapter of their lives.
Seek Professional Guidance: Empowering Decision-Making and Legal Support
Navigating separation rules in Australia can be complex and emotionally taxing. Therefore, seeking professional guidance from family lawyers and mediators is essential. These experienced professionals offer personalized advice tailored to the unique circumstances of each case, helping individuals understand their legal rights and responsibilities. By partnering with legal experts, individuals can navigate the complexities of the legal system with confidence and assurance, ensuring that their best interests are safeguarded throughout the process.
Conclusion
Embracing change during separation in Australia involves adopting a positive and proactive mindset. Understanding the separation rules and the principles they embody empowers individuals to approach this transformative period with clarity and resilience. The no-fault divorce system encourages amicable resolutions, while the separation period provides an opportunity for reflection and personal growth. Mediation fosters constructive communication, promoting collaborative solutions. A child-centric approach prioritizes the well-being of children, ensuring a nurturing environment. Fair and equitable property division guarantees financial security, and seeking professional guidance empowers individuals with legal support.
By embracing these principles, individuals can navigate separation with grace, leading to new beginnings filled with optimism and hope. While separation marks the end of one chapter, it also opens the door to exciting possibilities for a brighter and more fulfilling future. With a positive outlook and an understanding of the legal process, individuals can transform separation into an empowering journey of personal growth and self-discovery.

The History of Derivatives & the 4 Basic Kinds of it
Derivatives might be a new word for many. But, in reality, they have been used by humanity for a very long time indeed. Since the beginning, no one likes uncertainty. Even more so, economic uncertainty. To enable us to tackle this issue, we invented and evolved contracts. The initial contracts we verbal and not too sophisticated. Nonetheless, they were contracts. In this blog, I will trace the footsteps of derivatives throughout the times. Early Examples Derivatives existed in ancient cultures like that of Mesopotamia. The king there passed a decree. If there was inadequate rain, there would be lesser crops, so the lenders would have to give up their debts to the farmers. Nothing more, nothing less. They would have to write it off entirely. This put option was given to the farmers by the king. If certain proceedings unfolded in a particular way, they could just walk out of and away from their liabilities. Let’s see another story. One of Aristotle’s followers who was skillful at weathercasting foretold that there would be a bumper crop of olives in that year. He was very sure, so he went and purchased the yield of all the Olive farms in and around Athens, even before the crop had been reaped. It turned out to be a bumper crop. Aristotle’s disciples made a huge profit from his prediction. He was way ahead of time in a forwards contract. 19th Century: Chicago board of trade The US was at its peak of economic progress in the 19th century. It was the center of modernization. One such modernization came in the field of exchange-traded derivatives. This is when the farmers grasped that finding buyers for commodities was a problem. They created a cooperative market called the “Chicago board of trade”. This was the beginning of the first-ever derivatives market. Previously buyers and sellers negotiated their own contracts. The new way was to have standard contracts listed on the exchange. They could be bought and sold by anyone who wished. This was a novel idea and it proved to be a big hit. Eventually, they had to create an offshoot called Chicago Mercantile Exchange. This was the demand of the moment to handle the growing business. In the recent past, both the Chicago Board of Trade and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange have merged to create the CME group. It is perhaps the leading derivatives market in the world. The success in Chicago led to the creation of many exchanges across the world. However, during the time of the Chicago Board of Trade, derivatives trading was only confined to commodities. Other financial instruments were not part of this trading. Modern-day Modernizations in the modern financial market are based on derivatives. It started as a simple and straightforward idea. It evolved into standard contracts during the Chicago Board of Trade era. Presently it is a labyrinth of intricate financial instruments and contracts. The asset classes, which were the foundations of the derivative instruments, have transformed and expanded. These days we have a derivative for more-or-less everything. There are derivatives for stocks, indices, commodities, and real estate. Some derivatives are based on other derivatives. This forms a meta-structure of sorts. The huge expansion is because derivatives fulfill the requirements of most individuals and businesses in the world. In the collapse of 2008, the blame was on the derivatives. It was the fall guy for many. The media vilified them completely. That was an impediment. The rise of derivatives has been extraordinary. It is expected to stay this way in the future too. The 4 Basic Types of Derivatives One point needs to be taken notice of. If anyone wants a derivative contract, they will be confused at the sheer choices that they have. Thousands of kinds of contracts are available in the market. It may seem difficult and confusing. It is otherwise. The variations might be many. These variations can be traced back to one of the four primary categories. These are the 4 basic types of derivative contracts. I will explain them one by one. Type 1: Forward Contracts These are the simplest form of derivatives in the present market. They are also the oldest form around. A forward contract is an agreement to sell something in the future. The price of this transaction will be decided in the present. All forward contracts are between two counterparties. The exchange is not an intermediary to these transactions. This is also a chance of counterparty credit risk. Before the digital times, getting hold of a willing counterparty was a problematic proposition. These contracts need to be reversed before they expire. Their terms might not be favorable. Each party has one option i.e., to transact with the other party. The details of the forward contracts are the property of the two parties. It is not binding on them to release this info in the public domain. Type 2: Futures Contracts A futures contract is comparable to a forward contract. This is also a sale of a commodity at a future date. The price of this future day is to be decided at the present. Futures contracts are listed on the exchange. This makes the exchange, an intermediary. These are standard nature contracts. Their agreement cannot be modified in any manner. All exchange contracts are pre-decided, with pre-decided sizes, formats, and expirations. Because they are traded on the exchange, they must adhere to a daily settlement procedure. All gains and losses on this contract on a given day have to be settled on the same day. This helps negate the counterparty credit risk. If a futures contract, the buyer and seller don’t go into an agreement with one another. Both of them are in agreement with the exchange. Type 3: Option Contracts This is totally different from the first two kinds. The options contract is asymmetrical. An options contract binds one party whereas it lets the other party decide, at the expiration of the option. One party can buy or sell later and the other party has a choice. The choosing party pays a premium for this privilege. There are two types of options. They are a call option and a put option. The call option gives you the right but not the requirement to buy something at a future date at a given price. The put option gives you the right but not the requirement to sell something at a future date at a given pre-decided price. Everyone has 4 options when they buy an options contract. They can either be on the long side or the short side. They could either use the put option or the call option. Options, like futures, are also traded on the exchange. Type 4: Swaps This is the most complicated derivative around. This allows the participants to exchange their cash flows. In the future, one party may switch an indefinite cash flow for a definite one. A common practice is to swap a fixed interest rate for a floating rate. The parties may choose to swap the interest rates. They can do the same with the underlying currency too. Swaps allow businesses to avoid foreign exchange risks. These swap contracts are not traded on the exchange. These are privately negotiated contracts between two parties. Investment bankers act as intermediaries for these contracts. These bankers also carry a large total of exchange rate risks. We now know that there are 4 basic types of derivatives. Modern derivative contracts are comprised of thousands of combinations of these 4 basic types. The amalgamation of these 4 types result in the creation of extremely complex contracts. Self-Deception Holding You Back?
“I’d rather have my baby in the street than go into that death hospital!” Expectant mother
The year was 1847, and the death rate of mothers delivering their new baby had risen to 18% at a hospital in Vienne, Austria.
Obstetrician, Dr. Sememelweis, researched day and night for the cause of this extreme post-mortality rate at his hospital.
One day, he came across a paper written by a physician in another country proposing that “invisible bugs” were causing infection and death. The cure was using a combination of chloride and lime to terminate them.
The paper also suggested that physicians unknowingly pass these bugs to their patients.
Dr. Semmelweis was displeased with the suggestion that doctors might be unconsciously at fault, yet he pushed his ego aside to save his patients.
He concocted the chloride of lime solution and proceeded to wash his hands before delivering babies, for this was not a standard procedure at the time.
Almost immediately, the post-mortality rate for his patients dropped from 18% to 2%. Then he ordered all of his medical instruments to be washed in the chloride of lime solution before each procedure, and the mortality rate dropped to 1%.
Dr. Semmelweis was both delighted and saddened.
He was grateful for discovering the breakthrough solution yet horrified by the idea that such heartbreak was due to the doctor’s actions since their mission was to save lives.
So he shared the news and enrolled all the doctors in adopting this new practice, they saved hundreds of lives, and all loved Dr. Semmelweis.
I wish that were true, but self-deception is brutal, and when under pressure, the ego is more concerned with self-preservation than what’s good for humanity.
Instead, colleagues mocked his “invisible bugs” theory and continued doing what they had always done despite the substantial statistics proving their approach was detrimental.
Administrators retaliated with the cost of remodeling the entire hospital with sinks in each room so physicians could wash their hands before delivering babies.
Instead, they continued to state it was a ventilation problem and ordered the windows always to be open.
Even with Dr. Semmelweis’s 17% improvement in post-mortality death, the consensus was that “Doctors don’t spread disease; they cure it!”
Outraged by such ignorance of the truth (self-deception), he railed against the powers that be, was fired, and passed away in the prime of his life after experiencing deep depression.
Twenty years later, the “germ theory” was proven accurate, and Dr. Semmelweis became known as the Father of Infection Control.
Yet, how many families were devastated because human beings resisted change so adamantly?
Having all the supporting information, data, and facts in front of you don’t seem to change behavior when one’s ego feels threatened.
Instead, we slip into denial, blame others, or attack ourselves with no intention of changing our approach.
“Yes, well that was back then and we’ve come a long way since then.”
Have we?
I observe individuals, corporate executives, company teams, and family members struggle with the same self-deception and ego challenges now as we did then.
Changing behavior and emotional habits by first becoming accountable for your feelings and actions can be as frightening as death.
Your old habits must die for your new life to begin.
That cannot happen until one owns their thoughts, feelings, and actions, even when it feels lousy, instead of blaming ourselves, others, or life experiences for how we show up today.
Every day is a fresh opportunity to begin a more empowering chapter of your life by setting aside ego, blame, and self-deception.
Will today be that day for you?

Update: Absolutely nothing has changed. The abusive hot mess of an admin ( Starlight’s Jaehyun mun ) that mixes ic and ooc to create unnecessary drama, goes out of their way to lie to an entire rp, lies to the rest of the admin team until they get caught, fails to remain unbiased, and fails to uphold admin standards and perform admin duties is still doing the exact same bullshit. Starlight Harbor may be dead folks but the bullshit still lives on in the admin’s new place: Aura krp. Best of luck to anyone considering joining and to everyone still there.
-
Starlight harbor got HACKED??? How the hell does that even happen // admins not being too smart with the logins i suppose. they never did seem too bright.
-
The fact that starlight harbor continues to stay open despite some new shitty info coming out about them every week is insane
-
regarding starlight harbor // hello, former SH admin here, but not the one this post is about - i dont even think anyone knew i was an admin since i was so quiet. there actually was a team of admins when the rp started but some left. i did bc i didnt like the way the team treated 1 member (i fought hard for this person i hope theyre thriving, im sorry i couldnt stay to protect you), but also i wanted to write and the rp was mainly games. so when i left, the team was 5 people but ye this is true.
-
It’s very unfortunate when an admin cannot separate ic and ooc while proceeding to act in an unprofessional way to negatively impact others rp experience. Why? Because someone that admin had a ship with also could not separate ic and ooc then proceeded to use that in an attempt to create unplotted drama which negatively impacted multiple muses/muns. When what was going on was first brought to the attention of that admin in a offical capacity they promised to handle it and inform the other admins so such a thing would not happen again. Unfortunately they lied and tried to sweep it under the rug in order to protect an ic ship instead. The entire admin team was not informed of what was happening. Sadly when the attempts to start unplotted drama while mixing ic and ooc continued happening it negatively impacted multiple muns/muses. Others then formally brought the matter up and pushed for something to be done. In result that individual the admin had a ship with ic left the rp then the admin proceeded to personally blame, target, and hold a grudge against those victims of that person’s immature actions and poor behavior.
Not long after this one of the admins left the rp entirely. It was rumored that despite that person leaving there’s a whole team of admins still working at Starlight Harbor, but when two particular admins/muns went to a concert the rp ceased to operate and admins were no longer present for that extend period of time. The rp stalled in result and proved that the rumors of there being a “team of 9” was untrue. Unfortunately due to the head admin being unable to separate ic and ooc, remain unbiased, and professionally handle an rp that has lead to us leaving Starlight Harbor and blacklisting it. This isn’t the only reason however there’s also the issues of the multiple accusations of plagiarism against Starlight Harbor made by the former Lovedive rp admin team (Starlight was born/created from Lovedive community), the constant clique behavior of admins, unplotted drama by the admin team’s muses/muns, reports/experiences from abuse of admin power/authority, the fact Starlight Harbor got hacked recently because of how bad things are, and the alarming amount members leaving due to everything.
We truly hope such negative things will be corrected and changed so that they never happen again at Starlight Harbor rp nor will anyone else have to experience such burdensome, unproductive, and unnecessary behavior. The krp community is better than this and is worthy of better. RP is meant to be fun, welcoming, productive, and a relaxing meaningful experience for all. Let’s hope it stays that way. If you’re considering joining Starlight Harbor be wary of it in its current form. Sincerely from us who have experienced such a negative experience because of the admins there. Despite everything we wish you all the best of luck. We hope that your personal rp experience will be much better than our own.

I truly don't want to start an argument so I'll put everything beyond the start underneath "read more" so it can be ignored by everyone who wants to do so, cause I honestly can't agree at all with that approach of "Marinette is punished for trusting people" because the way you're describing it the problem is "Marinette did something in the story, why isn't she immediately rewarded with every solution handed to her and why don't people stop being individuals when Marinette isn't benefitting from that?"
Every single point of yours comes back to the same core 'issue': the person Marinette entrusted and their life dared to not immediately entirely revolve around Marinette so she can get the most out of their involvement. That people have their own lives, priorities, and feelings that don't revolve around Marinette..."but how can that be? Why is she being punished by her not being the only person this world is about?"
Chat Blanc and Ephemeral are awful examples to use to make the claim that Marinette gets punished for trusting Adrien, because the reason why it backfired was that Adrien's own life became his doom. Marinette ain't the biggest victim here at all and it's outright concerning to pretend like she is. The insane lack of help Adrien gets is the problem and Adrien is the one being punished and victim blamed for it at every turn way more than Marinette ever could be.
Especially in Ephemeral where Marinette threw every safety measure straight outta the window the moment she found out that Chat Noir is Adrien (not to mention how respectless and inconsiderate her plan was to take advantage of Chat's trust in her in the worst way possible because she didn't wanna have an uncomfortable and truthful conversation for 10 whole seconds. It wouldn't even have long-term solved the problem of Su-Han forcing Chat to leave at any given mistake. Marinette just gave him all the power to find Chat and take his ring behind her back and made Chat more vulnerable to Su-Han coming for him and him being the one to now decide the standards he has to unknowingly uphold. If she had gone through with that plan as she wanted, it would have resulted in Chat possibly having been replaced by Su-Han basically every single day because Su-Han wouldn't be asking for her damn permission thanks to her own actions. What an awful and beyond inconsidered plan that at least ended in an appropriate disaster)
She remembered Chat Blanc, uses it as an excuse for how many other things, and forces Chat Noir to uphold the highest secrecy standard she isn't even attempting to apply to herself anymore but demands of him so she can feel better about her treatment of him, but all of that "safety" was forgotten the moment it was Adrien. But not even for good reasons. Cause that wasn't trust. That was Marinette looking into the eyes of the love of her life and supposed 'trusted' partner and deciding risking his and the world's safety is worth it to try and get the chance to be with him.
Ephemeral had nothing to do with trust, it was Marinette at one of her most inconsidered and self-centered and that's exactly how it ended. Easy as that.
The problem is not "poor Marinette, Adrien's life and abuse resulting in his isolated doom isn't beneficial enough to her :(", it's "any time the show had Marinette give Adrichat any level of real trust, Marinette proceeded to still only prioritize her personal needs and wants while hardly considering his which then results in disaster"
It's exactly the same as every example with Alya. Honestly, the fact that Alya having told Nino is being depicted here as a BETRAYAL that resulted in Marinette being awfully punished is just... that is an outright selfish mindset. Sorry, but I honestly can't believe it. It's for Alya's sake I even make this reply.
Not only did Alya tell Nino because Marinette for all of season 4 just proceeds to give Alya every secret, promotion, and resource available without even just once thinking about how much she's throwing at Alya unprepared and what sacrifices she's demanding of her on a whim, the fact that Alya told Nino straight up saved Alya's LIFE in the finale.
That was one of the worst things for me when I re-watched the season 4 finale. Realizing that Marinette thinks about Alya's safety almost just as little as Chat Noir's. Hence why I have the reading of Marinette in the french version that she's considering Alya having given up the Fox miraculous as a betrayal and having abandoned her:
Because it fits the rest of the narrative (and Fu's sacrifice REALLY can't be called him abandoning her, that's even worse than saying that about Alya), particularly in the finale, which still continues strong (if not even stronger) in "Revelation" for example.
Carapace and Rena in the season 4 finale seriously had to stand there in shame and apologize to an upset Ladybug for having considered Alya's life to be of enough value to SAVE. It is insane that Marinette is written to not having felt relief that her best friend was saved from being KILLED because instead she's upset at not having been obeyed and Alya KNOWS that not having obeyed is the more important thing for Marinette in that moment because it means Rena can't be of service anymore. That's fucked up.
By the nature of the situation, Marinette is an awful leader and friend for the fact that Carapace and Rena correctly think that they should apologize in shame because they thought their private personhoods, lives and feelings have any worth when it gets in the way of Ladybug's will.
Not to mention that it is honestly extremely self-centered, borderlining selfish, of Marinette to never once think of ASKING Alya first if she even WANTS to gets dragged into absolutely every secret and position of privilege by Marinette only to be told in hindsight what sacrifices and obligations come with that.
For people who excuse all of Marinette's shortcomings with the amount of things that just get put on her (especially now regarding the season 5 finale), it's interesting that no one ever takes any issue with Marinette doing exactly the same to Alya and then say that ALYA is a bad friend and traitor.
Alya does not owe Marinette to put her happiness, health, and relationship on the line just because Marinette decided in her head that she gets to do that. Marinette at some point just walking up to her like "you owe me to make that and that and THAT sacrifice because I say so since I told and gave you this and this and this" is not rational and justified. It's demanding and self-centered.
Marinette just...demands others to make sacrifices for her comfort while she personally does whatever adjustment and secret revealing she personally wants to have at that moment. But apparently everyone else is an awful person and traitor when they think their lives have enough value to not always act on Maribug's benefit and comfort first and foremost. How is that fair? How is demanding of people to stop being individuals fair?
Marinette was wrong for just demanding of her best friend to risk her happiness and relationship, especially when Marinette herself wasn't even doing the same sacrifice since she was single at that point. So good that Marinette at least "had it in her" to forgive Alya.
Alya did NOT betray Marinette for having considered her life, happiness, love, and loved ones to be of value, just because Marinette never thinks beyond her personal involvement in things. Which is absolutely what she's doing because this is the SECOND PARTNER she's doing this with.
It is absolutely insane to demand that Alya OWES Marinette pain, loneliness, and even DEATH and it really shows how unhealthy and bad the leadership messages are that the show sends through Marinette, but especially Ladynoir.
The Fox didn't end up in Monarque's hands because of a betrayal, it ended up there because an unfortunate but realistic incident revealed Rena's presence on the battle field to Monarque and then Alya dared to think that her life, safety, and loved ones should have enough value in Marinette’s eyes and leadership that they don't need to be put at the risk of constantly being target number 1 AGAIN - because Hawkmoth knows who she is and has attacked her and her family already - just so Ladybug can continue benefiting as much as possible.
Marinette can't demand that of someone, that's honestly tyrannical, and it says ALOT in my opinion that Marinette felt hurt and betrayed at the end of "Strike back" by Alya giving back the Fox "despite Marinette kindly having forgiven her". At least it didn't show too much in season 5, but it's absolutely still there. Again, Revelation.
The forgiveness was of beyond secondary importance in that moment. Alya was 100% in the right for having renounced and Marinette continues to be 100% selfish for still forbidding Chat Noir to exist as a civilian in her leadership just because she doesn't ever wanna face that or take anything into consideration that isn't about her own needs first. And then she turns around and complains when that doesn't lead to every benefit and reward she still wants to have. Meaning: season 5 Ladynoir.
Ladybug made it more than clear that Chat Noir's own life and needs are on the base line terms irrelevant in this professional job and that she 'unfortunately' can't be asked to give proper support, help, resources ect because she pretends towards him that she's this whole time been just as isolated as him and therefore ALWAYS needs to be given these things herself and can't share for "safety reasons" because she's that alone and important. That's how he behaves like now, but as price she had to continue barring the burden of being the only one that matters and being the one who then needs to finish the job. Those were HER terms. SHE demanded it and continued reinforcing it in season 5.
She doesn't get to now turn around and cry why Chat isn't doing her job too - as she loved seeing him do in Passion - while simultaneously he's still not getting any real support or resources from her that she gets to have because she doesn't wanna be uncomfortable. She wanted to have her cake and eat it too. That's why she didn't benefit more from her actions and that's why Adrien didn't even consider asking for Ladybug's help in London and she ended up alone. Her terms. She doesn't get to have her cake and eat it to. That's not punishment, that's normal.
Alya's life, safety and loved ones are more important than Maribug's convenience and it's an offense that she lied so much and teached Chat Noir that he doesn't even get to ask for this basic level of human dignity and consideration on the baseline terms of Ladynoir to the point where the Black Cat had been so disregarded in the leadership and guardianship Alya learned from Marinette in 2 WHOLE SEASONS, that Alya in the end was too scared and unprepared to handle the burden of wearing the Black Cat because it was just treated as basically of no real relevance by Marinette as leader, until Alya suddenly had to realize that, no, it's actually important and messed up and she never learned how to handle it so she couldn't wear it now in the season 5 finale because of her nightmare condition.
THIS is why Marinette wasn't benefitting more from her actions and why she didn't even get to have Alya by her side in the end. Chat Noir and the Black Cat were so disregarded by her in her leadership that it even fatally affected ALYA in the end, so Marinette was alone. Marinette giving out trust is irrelevant under these circumstances because her trusted people don't get everything important to work with and don't have their own needs met either since both partnerships are primarily and inherently one-sided in Marinette’s favor, because Marinette made Alya and Chat Noir into the two halves of ONE partner for season 5.
Chat Noir's 'You and me against the world' lost more and more of its meaning ever since Marinette brought Alya into the equation and then her prioritizing always being right about the team constellation escalated to the point where she basically demanded that he should have been ashamed of himself for ever having thought that he deserves (not even as much) as consideration from her as an one-off side hero. And Marinette was never written to care enough about preventing or properly undoing any of the consequences Chat Noir had to pay for it cause the important thing was that it wasn't HER. SHE was the one who fundamentally made that phrase be untrue and that can't just be ignored just because acknowledging that ain't nice for the main character feelings.
She doesn't get to turn around and complain now about not benefiting enough when THESE are the circumstances she herself created and then proceeded to waste all of season 5 and reinforce it because that's what's easiest. By the beginning of season 5 it was obvious that Alya being given all these privileges, resources, and information over Chat Noir was rendered a full on waste and wrong priority, so that's how it played out in tbe end when Marinette refused to face that and just kept on keeping it that way. Can't benefit from something that reinforces entirely wrong priorities. That ain't punishment, that's normal.
Same as Luka not being of more benefit to her before leaving. Yeah, that sucks for her but that's it. He still did alot more for her than he ever did for Adrien, so why is Marinette the one being punished? Luka didn't do more because that's how the show characterizes him because he's a parallel to Marinette in their inaction when it comes to owing up to actually important secrets towards the people who actually deserve to hear it (Marinette with Adrichat and Luca with Adrinette but especially Marinette)
She didn't benefit more because Luka is a whole human being. Marinette is not being punished by the people in her world being REAL individuals and not just herself. Adrien's treatment to validate Marinette's every little problem and emotion really led to awful messages being teached and yet the results actually check out consistently and very realistically. She doesn't get to have her cake and eat it too. She gets the downside of what she demands or is just being given. That's normal.
If Marinette wasn't rewarded for her priorities the way one expected then that's because season 4 had her focus on almost every wrong priorities on especially Adrichat's and PLAGG'S (you know, the other most important Kwami Marinette never did anything for to HELP and keep safe as guardian despite her excuse being "she's the busy guardian now") expense and then season 5 didn't do shit to have her face that to undo the harm being further done so it obviously ended the way it did. On top of her also never even trying anything to get one step ahead to find Monarque and end this war, to the point where Félix had to do all the work and spoon-feed Maribug his identity at literally 11:59pm.
A main character living in a world that doesn't revolve entirely around them is normal. The additional miraculous having been stolen for season 5 isn't punishment, it's a normal development for a hero story. Marinette lost nothing of actual value. Only the unnecessary team that wasn't her job to assemble in the first place, the partner she replaced Chat Noir with on his expense and entirely behind his back, and all the Miraculous and Kwamis non of this was ever about either.
The only two things by her side that actually MATTERED all along where Chat Noir and the Black Cat miraculous which season 5 proved by how little of a problem it ever was that the miraculous were stolen and Alya wasn't Rena anymore.
Marinette giving out trust isn't the problem. It's that Marinette then proceeds to only truly think and care about her own side of everything even to the extreme of Marinette never once caring about finding the man behind Hawkmoth’s mask besides that one time she initially thought it was ADRIEN, or what this whole war she's fighting was even about beyond how it affects her side of it.
You know what would make the Lucky Charm more balanced? Make it so that there are times where other characters figure it out, not just Ladybug. That way, it doesn't make Ladybug hypercompent and makes it possible for other people to save the day.
I don't mind Ladybug being the one best suited to Lucky Charm. I don't think it makes her hyper competent because you don't need a Lucky Charm to save the day. It's just the way that she saves the day. The other characters should have their own unique talents that let them win fights. Generally speaking, that's how strong teams work.
For a random example, let's talk about the teenage mutant ninja turtles simply because I think most people know something about that franchise. The character Donatello (aka Donnie) is the team's tech guy. He makes all kinds of inventions that help them save the day. The show would not be improved if all four of the turtles were able to take on this inventor role. I'd argue that it would actually be lessened because the characters would become interchangeable. This is something that the franchise seems to agree with as each version of the show gives each turtle unique skills and personality traits that makes each of them indispensable in their own way, which is what I think Miraculous should have done with the temp heroes.
That being said, I do think that there's a way to make your idea work. I'd just go a slightly different, more lore balancing route since Lucky Charm is technically bad lore and you all know how I feel about bad lore. So let's talk about giving it a minor tweak and how I think that would actually improve things.
Tikki is supposed to be Creation, not Luck, so the Lucky Charm shouldn't have anything to do with Luck. It should just be pure Creation where the holder comes up with a thing they want and that thing then pops up. It could also have a give and take element where the holder gets what they asked for if they want something specific, but they could also just call the power as a hail Mary and Tikki would come up with something on the fly, leading to the occasional puzzle.
This leads me to my proposed changed.
I personally think it would be hilarious and honestly more fun for Marinette's character if she could summon anything she wanted, but the Lucky Charms stay exactly the same because that's just how her mind works. Even when Tikki is helping, it's still all wacky items because Tikki knows how Marinette is and just goes with it.
For example, in Copy Cat, Ladybug turns a spoon into a hook for a cobbled together fishing pole. Wouldn't it be even funnier if Marinette summoned a spoon on purpose because she was thinking of the makeshift thing she cobbled together in order to fish up something she dropped from her balcony? Then, post fight, Chat Noir praises her like always, only to then ask, "So why a spoon and not a fishing hook?" And Ladybug just stares at him because oh, right, those are things they make. She could have done that. Ooops.
And in Malediktator where she summons a sniper rifle to get a laser pointer? Well, she was thinking about this silly comic about a cat assassin! She totally spaced on the fact that you could just get a laser pointer by itself.
Eventually, her team learns to just go with it and not ask questions. Meanwhile, the general public thinks that the Lucky Charm is some random item that Ladybug has to figure out and no one bothers to correct this misunderstanding. You can even have a running gag of new team members learning the truth and going through the acceptance process of, "Hey, you try thinking up how to set a trap while a 5 meter tall lollipop is trying to crush you! Your mind goes to what it knows, not to the ideal solution, okay???"
If we go with this setup, then other people can wield the Ladybug and use Lucky Charm effectively, they'll just use it in a very different way from the way Marinette uses it. There will also be people who are just not suited to the Ladybug since that was initially how the powers were supposed to work and it made perfect sense. Kwamis should have ideal holders along with okay backups and terrible backups. I personally think Alya would be an okay backup since she's creative, but not creative in the same way Marinette is, leading her to be a lesser Ladybug. Adrien, on the other hand, should generally suck at the Ladybug as he simply doesn't have that style of creative thinking. Which is fine. Better than fine, even! You don't want your characters to be interchangeable! They should all have strengths and weaknesses!
This is one of the show's big flaws. Since everything is on Marinette's shoulders, the other characters rarely get a chance to shine and so they feel interchangeable. For example, if gift always shows the target what THEY want, then why does Rose need to be the one to wield it? Juleka could wield it just as easily. And if Ladybug is generally the one telling Marc and Nathaniel what to summon with their powers, then their creativity is not needed. Anyone could wield the rooster and the goat! The show has completely failed to understand what makes teams memorable and so we have a bloated, boring team whose presence I'm dreading because they had five seasons to set these guys up and yet here we are.

"DEPRESSION IS NOT DUE TO THE MACHINE AGE," Kingston Whig-Standard. June 30, 1933. Page 12. ---- Prof. D. M. Jemmett Spoke at Banquet of Electrical Contractors ---- Professor D.-M. Jemmett of Queen's University was the guest speaker at the convention dinner held on Thurs-day night by the Ontario Electrical Contractors' Association, at the Hotel LaSalle. In an intensely interesting address, Professor Jemmett dealt with some of the direct causes of the present world depression and refuted the argument put forth by many that the machine age was the cause of unemployment and depressed trade. He entirely disagreed with that argument,he said, and named several things that were basic in the modern world, which would not have come about, had it not been for the invention of some form of machinery, such as the lever, the wedge, the screw, the pulley and the wheel. The Romans he said were great engineers, yet they knew only those. From the time of the Romans, until the 17th century there was little advance made in machinery and twas not until 1717 that the first pump was invented. All power up to that time had been muscular. Very little was accomplished by wind and methods of creating water power were very crude. It was not until the 18th century that oars on the sea were abolished in favor of sails, and the first British warship to leave the oars and take up sails was far behind the mercantile ships, it was not until 1860 that the first British warship took to steam. It was in 1769 that James Watt invented the steam engine and from the invention of the steam engine many advances were made in scientific manufacture which was to have its effect on future conditions.
Radio Is Old Professor Jemmett pointed out that while many believed radio to be strictly of the last few years, that it was predicted in 1865 and in 1888 the first experimental discovery of it was made. Great advances had been made in the last century and a half in this field, he said, and in many ways the use of machinery has been responsible for the many things that people today enjoyed. The machine, he said, despite the fact that 150 years ago riots occurred in England in protest against machinery, which workers claimed was throwing them out of work, was one of the basic things in England's prosperity. The effect that the steam engine had in the complete revolution of transportation, was referred to by Professor Jemmett on land and sea.
Machinery for the carrying on of modern works was being proceeded with from day to day, the speaker said. There had followed since the invention by Watt of the steam engine the electric motor, drum armature, gasoline engine, Diesel engine, engines for flying etc. In the field of chemistry marvelous advances had been made, Professor Jemmett said, and the great importance of the electron tube and telephonic and radio communication was stressed by him. He prophesied that most of those present would live to see a revolution in the use of power through the electron tube. The wonders of the past were as nothing compared to the wonders of the present and what.would occur in the future. Instalment Buying Tariffs were sometimes blamed for the depression, Professor Jemmett remarked and about the only difference between parties on tariffs was "a lot of talk about 2 p. c." Too much optimism by sales departments, over-production, and greatest of all the instalment system of buying and selling were the greatest causes of the widespread depression. The instalment plan was a particular target for Professor Jemmett, who roundly disfavored such form of buying and selling.
Through it, he said, people were encouraged to buy who could not afford to buy and the net result in many cases extended right back to the actual manufacturer and the employees of the manufacturer, who were all affected. To use an engineering term, Professor Jemmett stated that it was "unstable equilibrium". The replacement of the individual firm by the corporation idea was one of the great changes wrought in business, and while some of these corporations had done and were doing splendid work, others were taking advantage of their position to reap the greatest good for themselves with-out regard to anyone else.
The speaker, who was Introduced by the chairman, James Harris, was warmly applauded as he concluded his address. During the evening several piano numbers were given by James Corradi and a number of choruses were Indulged in. Sergt.-Major Harper, sang two very pleasing solos, while Misses Aldine Montgomery and Alleen Morrison, in novelty dances and singing numbers scored a decided hit with the audience. Bobby Howarth also contributed several comic numbers which were well received. During the evening a demonstration was given by the Bell Telephone and Northern Electric Companies and proved highly interesting to the audience.

Hi! I was wondering will the enemy territory have a part 2? Also i love ur writing
Haven
Where a one day visit turns into a couple of days stay
Honorable tag : @kitty-chan33 @y3nao
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
"In the end, they've made a grave mistake."
Aalis takes a sip out of his tea, lifting it up with the tea saucers. There is nothing more peaceful than the afternoon tea hour. The event yesterday will surely imprint itself in many memories for the next couple of years.
It's not like Aalis could blame them for it. Who would've thought there will be two first year amateur plus a monster cat, trespassing the RSA without any notice. He couldn't understand their persistence. Sure, he must admit, Y/n is one interesting individual. She's one of the kind, in a good way of course.
Unlike others, she adjusted way too fast in a world she quite does not understand. As if Y/n had braced herself for the worst, it is quite ironic the tale of the magicless student. Y/n is surrounded by outstanding futuristic magicians, they all have the capabilities to overturn the entire world. Especially how he had recalled that one far prince.
There is nothing more frightening than the fact a strong being has entered their rivalry school. Sadly enough, he rarely participates in between the interscholarship events. Although, Aalis doesn't complain much, since it is a battle they could win as long as Malleus won't be in the way.
The knock by the door gained his attention, his eyes darted to the dark wood door, knowing who the guest that soon would come. "You may enter." Aalis muttered short and solid, having no other words to say. The door creek opened, and he lowered down his cup, returning it into its original post. Aalis could spot the familiar h/c color, the silence that tranquil through the room was peaceful.
Y/n hesitantly take a step inside, having some message coming from Che'nya; Our dorm leader wants to meet you, is what he said. However, she did not expect that the dorm leader he mentioned was Aalis himself. It was nerve racking enough in his presence, especially after yesterday, she cannot help but feel rather guilty since Ace, Deuce and Grim are her responsibility.
"About yesterday—"
"Have a seat."
Reluctantly, she walked further inside, not forgetting to close the door behind her, before proceeding further into the room. Y/n looked at the empty seat across from him, anxiety dwelled inside her mind, corrupting through her common senses. "...I, If you allow me." She pulled the seat back, making space for her to sit down.
The table was filled with plenty of pastries and tea that entered through her nostrils. Aalis sat rather peacefully across from her, blue enchanting eyes drifting outside the window. Y/n has always thought through Leona words, RSA filled with snotty and pampered princesses. Yet, the sight in front of her makes her assume it must've been for the hatred coming from NRC. Unlike what he said, Aalis and the others look quite the opposite.
Well, maybe Rielle looks like he's a spoiled prince. But, he has his own aura that lure people into his presence—
"Have you heard," Y/n flinched, face flushed in deep red after noticing she had been staring. She looked down at the ground, relieved to know Aalis wasn't looking in her direction. "The tale of this dorm?"
Aalis turned to face her, however one of his brow rose from its place. He wondered why Y/n looked redder than her usual skin tone. Either she's sick or angry or maybe…Embarrassed of something. Unfortunately, he couldn't tell for sure.
"Is it… The Sevens?" Y/n asked, looking at the long blonde male with an eyes filled with curiosity. Aalis answers her with a calm soothing voice. "It is the Sevens, but there's a distinction to it."
"Distinction?" Aalis nods, picking up his cup of tea and sipping it by the edge.
Just like how NRC and RSA is a polar opposite to each other. The Sevens they have itself play a different kind of role and have a different kind of tale. If Savanaclaw represent the King of Beast, alas the dorm here represents the spirit of the King of Pride. A tale where the king ruled over his own kins with pride and honor, leading them to a peaceful life.
"The Maiden of Wonderland." Y/n interest grows, taking her own cup of tea and calmly taking a sip. The refreshing flavor bloomed inside her mouth, the lingering taste of jasmine was present. Aalis looks somewhat calm and carries the aura in which he couldn't care less of what happened. He looks like someone who'll do anything to fulfill hir curiosity and someone who has a sharp mouth to anger someone.
"Maiden of Wonderland?" Aalis briefly nodded to confirm her question.
┏━━━━━━━━°⌜ 赤い糸 ⌟°━━━━━━━━┓
Maiden of Wonderland
A young and curious maiden, who follows a rabbit down its hole to a world of Wonderland. There, she meets an array of anthropomorphic creatures who defy logic and reason. She ventured through the entire land, lending a help and once escaped the wrath of its tyranny ruler.
┗━━━━━━━━°⌜ 赤い糸 ⌟°━━━━━━━━┛
"That seems like… Twisted Wonderland for me?" Aalis looks at her with a look of confusion, wondering why she connects the tale of The Maiden of Wonderland with the world they're living in.
"Well, I mean, it's… Twisted Wonderland, you know? Like, Wonderland but Twisted." Seeing Aalis face of confusion, she tried to come up with another explanation. "And… Everything here defy logic? Like, magic and all…"
Aalis looked at her, taking a quick look at her nervous state. "Magic is a normal case for us except for you. Hence, that's why I say you've fallen into the rabbit hole."
Y/n pressed her lips into a thin line, aware of the fact she might've been related to the said Maiden. Falling into the rabbit hole in the shape of a coffin and dark robe around her. Plus, she is pretty much curious about the things she shouldn't have. And the last part… Escaping a tyrant wrath… Honestly, isn't this too much of a coincidence?
"I believe," Aalis and Y/n make eye contact between each other. "That Alice has found her wonderland."
Aalis wasn't implying him or the maiden, rather what he has implied is the girl that seated across from him.
●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○
"Y/n!!!"
From afar, Y/n could hear the shout coming from one energetic being. A lock of bright orange swayed by the wind, it fluttered by the end and bobbing up and down from the movement. Rielle could be seen running towards her direction, arms spread open, ready to tackle her into a hug.
And she, being the kind one, moved to the side.
"Eh—"
". . ."
With that, Rielle ended up tackling down the ground instead. Neige who was chasing after him cannot help but let out an audible sigh. Even for someone who has the patient of an angel, he could feel rather dejected by his friend shenanigans. In Y/n case, she was fortunate enough that a protective body guard of his did not witness the downfall of the youngest prince.
The three individuals stayed in silence, with Neige capable of catching up with the two, he immediately joined in the silence. There are nothing more embarrassing than the fact Rielle, one of the Royal blood by the Coral Sea, being hug-rejected and look idiotic in front of a guest.
"How are you, Y/n? I heard you spent time with Aalis the other day." Neige smiles at her, receiving an awkward smile coming from her. Well, what he had said was true, she did spend the entire day with Aalis and some time with Che'nya who interfered with the two. If she must rate the moment, Y/n truthfully admit she had fun. It has been quite awhile for her to play around without worrying about anyone committing a problem.
"I've been doing fairly well, Neige. And yes, I did spent time wit—"
"Then, it's our turn now!" Rielle stood up straight, hands in his hips as he recovered from that moment of embarrassment. The prince holds her wrist and Neige, dragging the two with him with a happy grin.
"Let's take a detour!" Neige was easy to comply with, having been used by his personality. But, Y/n? Not so much. It reminded her of how the others back in NRC often drag her around to cause unnecessary mayhem. Her heart beat erratically, trying to keep it down through deep breath.
And a detour they certainly have. Rielle did not lie about it and dragged the two with him across the entire school, opening from one door to another, showing what the room was all about and many more. For that, Y/n was on the brink of exhaustion as she cannot keep up with the said prince.
Taking a quick break after all of those walking, Y/n lean on the wall, sighing exasperatedly. There is nothing more annoying than to be forced in a castle for 3 hours straight, she barely could've felt her leg anymore. It feels like her ability to walk has been snatched away right in front of her.
"Sorry about Rielle." A voice interrupts her solitude, handing a bottle of water to her. Y/n look up to face Neige, eyes locking to one another and the blue simply smiles gently at her.
"Rielle isn't usually like that. But, he must've been excited to meet you and all that." Y/n take the bottle with a thankful nod, opening the lid and drinking it to her heart's content. The hydration she felt soon washed over, instantly recovering some of her long lost energy.
"He seems a bit too friendly. It hits some of my nerves."
"He has his own reason."
Y/n frowned hearing that. Why? What reason does Rielle exactly have to the point he seems awfully too friendly? It's not like she hates his personality for that. It's just… Remind her a lot of Cater. However, unlike the third year, Rielle doesn't have any obsession with magicam whatsoever. Instead, he's way too outgoing to the point it was shaddy.
Neige reaches out to pat her on the head, caressing it rather softly. "Please don't think too much of it. Rielle's intention isn't bad, it was just how he function most times."
Y/n look at Neige, the rival of Vil. Hypothetically speaking, she may or not understand the reason why he's much more popular at some point. Even to the fact, Vil hated his guts with all of his entire heart. He's too kind for his own good, and maybe he's too naive for this world at some point.
"Ah, I almost forgot. I have something to settle down in my dorm, I'll see you later, Y/n." Neige retreated his hand away, taking a few steps away and walked off to another direction, not forgetting to wave at her one last time.
Y/n waved back in return, standing there in her place before her feet moved on their own, walking in the empty hallway. Where she and Neige got separated from Rielle during this so-called detour of his.
She couldn't understand his reason and she thinks there will be no day where she'll know it. It might be someday, but she's quite sure that that day won't come since she won't be returning here for a long time or maybe forever. This might be the last and the first. And, Y/n prefer to make it as a memory she could keep without worrying it over.
~♪ ~♪ ~♪
Y/n stop on her track, a faint sense of lullaby rings through her ears. It sounds like the gentle breeze of the ocean, however it sounds like the vicious and cruel wave of the sea, crashing and devouring each sailor in the midst of the night. Creating a storm that consumes the death of others.
She looked outside the hallway, it was close but it seemed far. Y/n cannot describe it entirely, it felt calming and sorrowful at the same time. Whoever sings it is pitiful in her opinion. She planned on leaving it behind, she planned to turn a blind to it.
Importantly, she did not dare to interject…
". . ." Y/n often hates herself for this, whether it is her body, mind or even heart. Because she unconsciously ended up walking to the direction of the said source.
And, she hated herself more. When she met a merman by a pond, singing to himself with a dangerous tempting voice. Is he a siren or a merman? Y/n sighs to herself, shaking her head from left to right. The familiar bright orange color filled her sight, she really was lucky to find him in his merman form. Or maybe it is not. It depends on which she thought the best.
~♪ ~♪—
"What are you doing?" The lullaby turns into a loud shriek, it shows how Rielle didn't expect someone else's company at the end of school hour. He lifted his head to the back, pupils dilated in surprise.
"A, Ah, I, I mean, you, me… That…" Rielle cannot determine what to say, it was obvious that he's nervous for no reason. Or maybe there's a reason, and soon she might unravel it by a small bond.
"...I'm just singing?" There was a confused smile by the Royal merman. Rielle brows were also knitted, a clear sign such as the daylight.
"Let's sing along," Rielle looked at her a bit dumbfounded, mouth gape open and close, attention filled with only her. "You and me together. It's better to sing duo than solo."
A smile graced by her lips, kneeling down right in front of him, two pairs of indifferent eyes stare at one another. Perhaps, Y/n should be glad that she moved unknowingly.
●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○
"I give you my utmost respect for the capabilities to handle Rielle.” Y/n sweatdrop hearing that, Yasmin seems rather nonchalant about it too. It made her wonder at some point, does he care for his own friends at some point? He looks like that one friend of the group who's sarcastic and mean.
Rajah, the tiger right beside him purred, enjoying the pat it received after a long day of work. In which, they barely did anything. Yasmin turned his attention to the petite girl, staring at her rather blankly to the point that scared her. Can't he be a bit more expressive? It wouldn't hurt to do so. Maybe the smallest smile would've made him less intimidating.
"However, I pity you as well." Y/n flinched hearing that, whether he said that intentionally or not, it somehow hit a nerve in her system. There's no need to point it out, Yasmin and Rielle must've had a bad chemistry with one another.
"Rielle isn't that bad…"
"Oh, trust me, he's the worst of the worst of a menace." Y/n grimaced at his comment, pinpointing a possible fact that he must've despised Rielle a lot. The reason why? She wouldn't dare to question it and let it be. She may have some past experience in fixing or becoming the bridge of someone's relationship. But, she tried to stay low and prevent from getting caught up in this place as well.
Yasmin sighs, threading his hand through his hair, the soft and fluffy black hair easily swaying through in between. It tempted her to pat him in the head. And he tried her very best to refrain from doing so. The golden earrings he wore moved in the slightest, it followed the wind movement and it made her wonder whether that thing was heavy or not.
"Plus, he's intolerable. I'm more than surprised that the others still have the patience to deal with him." The bad blood between the two must've flowed for an everlasting eternity. And there's no stopping it someway or another. He's insufferable, it's the least thing Yasmin wants to admit in front of a guest. Yet, he ended up declaring it so.
Yasmin somewhat reminded her of someone. Y/n hate to admit, but it must've been having something to do with past connections. "How's Kalim? It's been awhile since I last visited him." The previous assumptions soon dissipate away, looking at the cousin of Kalim who's clearly the polar opposite.
"Kalim is… Kalim?" Even when she said something so awkward, Yasmin understood what she's trying to say here. "Not surprised, he has been like that for my entire life. Can't that guy be wary of someone? Especially Jamil? What would he do if he suddenly tried to kick him out or something?"
Y/n look at him in bewilderment, before gulping rather nervously. She cracked up a smile, trying to avoid the topic and what Yasmin might've done to Jamil if he had known the truth.
"Well, as far as I'm aware… Jamil has been doing a good job in keeping an eye out on Kalim. They seem to be… Rather close?" Yasmin looks at her, examining his expression to deduce if she's telling the truth or not. After a while, he shakes his head in disapproval.
"A snake is still a snake. So you better be careful as well, Y/n." The girl looked at Yasmin with an inexplicable expression, she tried to sort out what exactly she was feeling. Clearly, she felt quite disturbed by what he had said. However, there's something she's aware of.
It was a piece of advice, something she might've needed back in the past. As Yasmin has said, a snake will remain vicious on the ground. Keeping a low ground before striking ahead to its prey.
●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○
"Heres and… Aura, wasn't it?"
"Ah, I'm delighted you remember us. Lovely afternoon, Y/n. It's nice to see you again." Aura smiles fondly, matching Neige's personality of kindness. In comparison, Aura seems to be someone far more superior on behalf of kindness. He even looks like someone who's ready to fall asleep for eternity if possible.
On the other hand, Heres is quite the opposite of Aura. He had a well build body structure, he seems to be working out fairly a lot. Not only that, he seems to be surrounded by many people. In between admiration, friendly gesture or maybe respect, there's no other room to complain that he might've been quite popular around RSA.
Hold on, scratch that. The two people in front of her are quite popular in this school. And the friendship trope between the two is absolutely loveable. A strong friend and that one frail friend, it seems like a balanced friendship in her eyes. They're a refreshing sight to see after some time. Especially considering the duo in her own school is quite… Ehh, how does she say it? Chaotic bunch.
"You gain popularity around our school quickly, huh? It was skyrocketing really." Heres burst in a laughter, his booming loud voice echoed by their empty surrounding area. Aura only laughs silently, it's like the two are really the opposite of one another.
"I'm sure it must've been due to the fact you befriended Yasmin."
The other day, the two students could be seen right next to another. Hanging out and talking casually with one another. Even some RSA students were a bit surprised upon seeing how Rajah is much kinder and gentler to Y/n. With a matter of seconds, it became a hot topic around the school and now the talk of NRC Prefect is some sort of a trend.
"What do you think of Royal Sword Academy?" Aura asked, smiling at her before offering a bag of cookies to her. Y/n who sees the familiar sight of the round pastry, couldn't help but to take it with a beaming smile.
"Well, it's not that bad. Everyone around here is… Unique." Y/n exclaimed, opening the plastic bag and taking one cookie out, eating it.
What she had said truly came from her heart. Everyone here is unique in its own way and not everyone is good like she expected. Perhaps, the matter of kindness and evil depends on the said person. Even if most are filled with goodwill, there's still some with the personality of a rotten fruit.
For example, Yasmin who's rather blunt and mean to those around her. Aalis who seems intimidating at first and one glance. The two personalities prove that it wasn't the fact that this school was only filled with people who seemed good in the eyes of authorities. Rather, it could possibly be because of the qualification of the person.
"Isn't that right? So, what do you think of transferring here instead?" Aura looks at Heres with a frown, upset that he asked such a question to Y/n. He did not want her to feel burdened by the question and lied about her answer.
"Ignore this brute, Y/n. He don't know what he's talking about." Heres whipped his head to Aura, who emits the caring kind of presence. At the same time, he tried to give Heres the signal to let go of this topic and his pride of RSA by stepping on his feet.
"It's fine." Y/n shakes her head, smiling at the two dynamics between one another. They seem close, even yesterday they stuck close to each other. It reminds her of her friends back in NRC. Somehow, a part of her longed to be around them once again.
"If I'm being honest with you, I like it here. I sleep in a comfortable room, eat something delicious everyday and there's no trouble that gives me a headache. I didn't struggle here." Heres and Aura looks at Y/n, watching how her expression remains calm and adoring. Of course, in Aura's case, she didn't need to tell him what she's feeling because he knows.
"But, because of that I felt somewhat disturbed…" Y/n lower her head, reaching out to move her pony to the side. "For me, that struggle shows how much I've been through. Show how much I tried to be a part of something and belong somewhere."
Ace, Deuce and Grim the trio who first become her first group of friends and headache at the same time. The entire rollercoaster of events starts with their first meet up. Yet, it was such a memorable start. Enough for others to remember it always.
The others itself has left behind a certain impression on her. Thus, it led to where she is, where she has a principle of her situation and place. Where she had the correct answer for this kind of question.
"And this isn't my home."
RSA isn't her home. It's not the place where she becomes adjusted and adapted to her surroundings. It's not the place where every single thing will become some sort of chaos. This place may be fun, but alas it doesn't feel right. This place has a different kind of presence than her own. Y/n is clearly disturbed by this, hence she cannot wait to return.
Aura looked at her, who seemed to be sincere in everything she had said. He smiled, knowing that at first glance. Y/n's someone who's awkward and often feels out of place. Even at the ball yesterday is enough evidence to prove her sense of loneliness.
"I see…"
Heres looks like he was about to complain, until Aura nudge him by the arm. Glaring as a sign to keep his mouth shut, and he comply along way too quick. He sigh in disbelief, returning his attention back at her.
"I'm sure your friends would've been delighted to know that. Do remember, if you feel like going out once or twice, we'll welcome you with open arms."
