Next month is the annual exhibitor showcase Cinemacon where movie studios tout their wares for the very anxious theater owners.
It has already been announced that Sony is sitting this year out, so no info on VENOM 3: THE LAST DANCE, to be released October 25, 2024.
While I assume there will be some changes to the lineup, so far it is shaping up to be:
OPENING DAY: International Day features a screening of Universal 80s series remake THE FALL GUY starring Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Hannah Waddingham and Aaron Taylor-Johnson (who has said in a recent interview that it is a small role) ; directed by David Leitch (BULLET TRAIN, DEADPOOL 2)
DAY ONE: WB pulls up with their presentation "The Big Picture". It will be the first Cinemacon for James Gunn in his position as Co-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DC Studios.
I expect a song and dance from Gunn about how awesome sauce the new DC film universe will be
I'll believe it when I see it.
Sure to tease SUPERMAN LEGACY which stars David Corenswet as the title character, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
JOKER: FOLIE A DEUX, BEETLEJUICE, BEETLEJUCE
MORE STUDIO OFFERINGS
Also, FURIOSA: A MAD MAX SAGA
, the supernatural horror film THE WATCHERS, directed and written by Ishana Night Shyamalan, daughter of M. Night
, M. Night Shymalan's TRAP starring Josh Hartnett, ALTO KNIGHTS with Robert DeNiro playing a dual role.
Certainly don't expect anything to hear about THE BATMAN sequel other than it won't shoot until 2025. There has been no reason provided, but some say there isn't even a script, others say it was because there were no soundstages available in London to shoot this year.
DAY TWO: ANGEL STUDIOS - The outfit behind SOUND OF FREEDOM.
I suspect they will tease SIGHT starring Greg Kinnear and BONHOEFFER (aka GOD'S SPY) about German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer, starring August Diehl, Flula Borg and Clarke Peters.
LIONSGATE: I suspect they will tease Guy Ritchie's THE MINISTRY OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE starring a pick-a-mix of men for all tastes - Henry Cavill, Alan Ritchson, Alex Pettyfer, Henry Golding and Hero Fiennes Tiffins
; the action-thriller BOY KILLS WORLD fronted by Bill Skarsgård and costarring Sharlto Copley, Andrew Koji (who is working like mad), Famke Janssen and Isaiah Mustafa.
Surely, another Bill Skarsgård film THE CROW with fka Twigs
; THE STRANGERS: CHAPTER 1, which is the third film in the franchise - doing a bit of FAST AND THE FURIOUS mathing. It stars Madelaine Petsch, Froy Guittierez and Gabriel Basso
At long last the BALLERINA has pliete into the spotlight. This JOHN WICK spinoff stars Ana De Armas, with Anjelica Huston reprising her role from JOHN WICK 2. It's direct by Len Wiseman who directed the UNDERWORLD films starring his ex-wife Kate Beckinsale.
BORDERLANDS, an action-comedy based on the game, brought to the screen by Eli Roth. Starring Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jack Black, Cate Blanchett, Haley Bennett and Édgar Ramírez, amongst others.
and WHITE BIRD, which is in the same universe as the excellent children geared film WONDER. It was due to come out in 2023 but was pushed back due to the actors strike.
UNIVERSAL / FOCUS FEATURES: I suspect teases for Dev Patel's directorial debut MONKEY MAN. The film was originally slated to go to Netflix but Jordan Peele, under his Monkey Paw shingle, bought it and took it to Universal so it could have a theatrical release. *Granted, Netflix does a theatrical release for most of their films in certain markets, but I get Peele's rationale.
Their Monsters Universe theatrical idea didn't work, but Universal has realized there is more than one way to skin a cat. They are creating a Universal Monsters themed area at their parks and their monster/horror film ABIGAIL is a re-imaging of DRACULA'S DAUGHTER. It stars Alisha Weir, Melissa Barrera and Dan Stevens and features Angus Cloud in one of his last roles.
THE FALL GUY most definitely will have a place. Same with THE BIKERIDERS (with Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, Jodie Comer, Norman Reedus, Mike Faist, etc.), which was a 20th Century (Disney owned) Film, and even though it was the first major film out the gate ahead of Oscars/Golden Globes' FYC season with a screening and Q&A held in L.A., the studio purposely stalled the engine and towed it off their schedule. It will now be distributed by Focus Features in the U.S., and Universal, internationally.
Other possible teases? DESPICABLE ME 4, TWISTERS, the standalone sequel to the 90s film TWISTERS
, horror film SPEAK NO EVIL starring James McAvoy and Mackenzie Davis
, WICKED: PART ONE and Sir Ridley Scott's GLADIATOR 2 with Paul Mescal and Pedro Pascal.
There will also be a surprise screening; studio unknown.
DAY THREE: PARAMOUNT: Expected: the mixed live-action and animated comedy IF starring Ryan Reynolds, written/directed and produced by John Krasinski.
A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE, GLADIATOR 2 (though this is a co-production with Universal, so maybe Uni will tout it), SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3, the unending production that is MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 8,
WALT DISNEY: Possible: THE FIRST OMEN, KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES
, MOANA 2, INSIDE OUT 2, DEADPOOL 3, ALIEN: ROMULUS, CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD and SNOW WHITE.
CinemaCon always closes out with their awards (which always ties into an upcoming release. Funny how that works.
So far the honourees are:
Star of the Year - Lupita Nyong'o (A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE)
Breakthrough Performer of the Year - Joseph Quinn (A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE)
CinemaCon Vanguard Award - Amy Poehler (INSIDE OUT 2)
Director of the Year - Shawn Levy (DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE)

“hearing about all your bozo exes [makes] me feel much better about my last relationship.” “the footballer, right?” “yeah.” “yeah, jamie what’s-his-name?” “no. well, yeah — no — um...”
i have QUESTIONS
why did jack think jamie was keeley’s last relationship, to the point where she knew his name but not roy’s (or she might’ve known roy’s, but jamie’s still came to her mind first)
like why was keeley apparently talking so much about her ex-ex-boyfriend that jack was under the impression he was her most recent
perhaps more importantly, why did keeley herself conflate jamie with her last relationship
not just her stumbling over her words but before that immediately saying “yes” when jack says “the footballer,” given that roy is not, in fact, a footballer, he’s a football coach
you only have one “last relationship,” keeley, that’s not debatable. jamie shouldn’t factor in at all in that conversation, especially since you broke up with him nearly three years ago
girl.
#yes i will be shamelessly riding this train until or unless canon tells me i no longer can#at which point i will be riding it within fic because canon is not the be-all end-all#and to all you naysayers: no i don't give a shit what you think :)#block the tag and/or me and move along#jamie tartt#keeley jones#jamie x keeley#tl

[Previous Part] [Series Masterlist]
Washington, D.C., 2011
(Reader POV)
You’d gone to three different funerals since moving to D.C. Three more than you would have liked, obviously, no one ever really wants to go to a funeral.
The first had been your father’s. You had Jamie and your mom, but you needed Spencer. He was out on a case and you couldn’t blame him for not being there, but he made up for it a million times over. Your dad’s death wasn’t unexpected, and while it hurt to say goodbye, it was relatively easy to move on.
The second had been for Aaron’s ex-wife, Haley. You didn’t really know her, but Aaron was your friend and you wanted to support him. That and Jamie got along very well with Jack, acting almost as an older cousin, and you know how important family is when you lose a parent.
The third and most recent funeral was the worst one: Emily’s. She was there one day, raring to go and take on the world, gone the next.
The day you found out was just terrible. JJ had called you herself to tell you. You managed to stay calm until you hung up, when you practically threw your phone onto the kitchen table and collapsed into a chair, tears pouring down your face as silent sobs wracked your body.
Jamie ran in at the sound of you crying, “Mom? What’s wrong? Are you okay?”
You shook your head, unable to speak. Jamie wordlessly wrapped his arms around your shoulders and held you as you struggled to regain your voice. When you could finally breathe and relay the news you just received, you choked out, “Aunt Emily died last night.”
Then Jamie started crying too. He curled up into your shoulder and sobbed into your shirt, soaking you to the skin, almost like he was little again. You crumbled at the sound of his whines and cries. Every part of your chest ached with the weight of your grief.
“What happened to her?” He finally whimpered.
“She has a dangerous job,” You didn’t even notice the tense you used, “A bad man was after her.”
“Well, is everyone else okay? What about Uncle Derek? What about Doc—”
“Everyone else is fine, baby, no one else was hurt. Doc’s fine.”
You sat still for God knows how long, silent, clutching each other like a lifeline, praying this was all just a dream and that you’d get a call from Emily telling you it was all some sick joke. Of course, you’d be furious with JJ, but at least there wouldn’t be a hole in your family where Emily had once been.
Your mother came over to help you cook, the same role you had taken years prior while your father was sick. She consoled you and Jamie for the next two days and then drove you to the funeral. You got out of the car and walked in silence to the church, clutching Jamie’s hand as you entered.
Aaron was the first at the door. He wasn’t one for hugs, but when he saw you, exhausted and barely standing, he pulled you and Jamie in tight. The hug was brief, but it helped, God, did it help. Dave was just behind him, and he didn’t hesitate. He ruffled Jamie’s hair and gave you a kiss on both cheeks. JJ was holding Henry in the corner, and Will gave you a weak smile. Derek and Penelope were holding one another, both shaking as they cried. Your grip on Jamie’s hand grew tighter, tighter, tighter until you saw him.
You then dropped Jamie’s hand as you ran over, arms open wide as your son followed close behind, “Spence--”
He returned your hug instantly, burying his face in your hair, “I’m sorry I didn’t call--”
You felt Jamie join the hug, but you kept your head buried in Spencer’s chest, “No, I’m sorry too, I didn’t know what to do.”
“Me neither.” He pulled away, wiping away some tears and sniffling, “I’ve just been holed up in my room reading Vonnegut all for the past three days.”
Of course, “What books?”
“Mostly Slaughterhouse-Five, it was her--”
“Her favorite,” You nodded as you spoke the last part in unison with him.
“Yeah. I read it out loud just…” His voice cracked and the words looked painful to get out, “Just in case she could hear me.”
Your heart broke imagining him wrapped in blankets, eyes rimmed red as they glazed over the worn-out pages. You ached at the thought of his voice cracking just as it did before as he read for hours and hours, begging the universe to let Emily hear him, “She did. And she loved it.”
“I just hope she didn’t realize I was crying,” he muttered, and it shattered you, “She wouldn’t want us to cry for her.”
“You’re right, but I know she’d be unbelievably offended if we didn’t cry just a little bit,” Spencer’s tearful smile was enough to make you feel slightly better. There was still hope.
Your mom took Jamie home after the wake, knowing that you needed time with the team to feel like a person again. You went home with Spencer. He shouldn’t have to be alone anymore.
“You’re really good at taking care of me,” he smiled weakly, sipping the tea you made for him.
“Yeah, I had a good teacher.” Your mother was always there when you lost someone. You had your ups and downs, but she was a good mom.
“Does it get easier? Losing someone?”
“No. It always hurts just as bad,” you sigh, “But moving on used to be a lot harder.”
“Do you still miss him?”
“Of course I do, but less than I used to.” You still talked to your dad sometimes, something you did as a kid when he wasn’t home, just telling him about your day or narrating what you were doing. Even after all these years, you still found yourself explaining to no one that you had to run to store and buy bread to make Jamie’s lunch.
“I see little pieces of him everywhere I go. Jamie has the same exact smile. His favorite book when he was little was the same one my dad read to me. No one ever really leaves. Family, friends, they stick with us.”
“I’ve never lost a friend before. When Gideon left, I knew he was out there. Same with Elle. I could have Garcia find them right now and call them up to see how they’re doing, but Emily--” his voice cracked too much for him to want to continue, so he dropped it altogether.
“Did I ever tell you about my college roommate, Juliet?”
“No.”
“We were best friends. We did everything together: Movie nights, parties, all that. The night of our last final senior year, we decided to go clubbing to celebrate.”
You told him the whole story. The drinking, the dancing, the guy. You don’t remember his name, but you remember trusting him. He was sweet and Juliet liked him, so when she came to you at the bar after dancing with him telling you she was going home with him, you let her.
“I was happy for her! She had just gone through a breakup a few months before, so it was nice to see her getting some,” you let out a weak laugh, “I remember the last thing I said before she left was ‘Okay, have fun, call me in the morning, we’ll get brunch. I love you.’” Spencer winced, almost as if he knew where this story was going. Given his line of work, he was expecting far worse, but he at least knew that we didn’t get lunch the next morning.
“I went home a little bit later, I got bored, so I got a taxi home.”
You close your eyes and sigh deeply, “I’m in the back seat when I get a call. It was Juliet’s phone.”
“She wasn’t calling you, was she?”
“No, it was the police. Juliet didn’t have a good relationship with her parents, so I was her emergency contact.” You had to plan the funeral, invite her parents, look them in the eye and lie to them that Juliet wanted to make amends with them. The horrified guilt on their faces almost made it worth it, “The car she was in got t-boned when the guy ran a red light. He wasn’t as sober as we thought he was.”
“She didn’t make it.” Spencer guessed for you.
“No. She was dead before they got her out of the ambulance.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be. If Juliet hadn’t…” You still couldn’t bring yourself to actually say it, “I wouldn’t have moved home, I wouldn’t have gotten back with Kyle, and I wouldn’t have Jamie. I don’t wanna tell you that something good will come out of this, because that’s a horrible thing to hear, but looking for an opportunity to find something good can’t hurt.”
“I can’t just look for something new when all i can think about is how I should have been able to help!”
“You really think I didn’t blame myself for what happened to Juliet? That every night for years after I thought I could have done something differently, and sure, I could have, but it’s not like I knew what was going to happen, and I couldn’t keep blaming myself.”
“It’s not the same, you don’t get it.” His fingers ghosted over old scars on his forearms, scars you didn’t want to think about where they came from.
“I do, Spencer. Emily was my friend too. And because she was my friend, I know she would never let you blame yourself for it. She knows you can’t save them all. All we can do is save ourselves,” you took his hand in yours, he still tensed up, “‘cuz that’s all the people we lose want us to do.”
He turned his head up from the floor and met your eyes. Once you gazed into those deep hazel irises, the tension in his hand melted away. His shoulders slumped, and he let out a deep breath, squeezing your hand like a lifeline, “Thank you.”
“Of course, Spence.”
“I’m sorry for snapping.”
“You apologize too much.” You had nearly forgotten exactly what he said to you that night in the hotel bar in Vegas all those years ago, but clearly, he hadn’t, he couldn’t, and he didn’t, because after a few moments of staring into your eyes and slowly drifting towards you in peaceful silence, he closed the gap between you both and kissed you.
Spencer Reid was kissing you.
This was happening.
Nearly two decades of being friends--
Years of being totally, ridiculously, and most importantly, cluelessly in love with each other, Spencer Reid was kissing you. You were almost so overjoyed at that moment as you started to kiss him back that you nearly forgot that your friend was dead and you were supposed to be comforting him. This wasn’t comfort, this was what Kyle did to you all those years ago.
You broke the kiss before he did something he’d regret, “Spence…”
“Oh my god,” he removed his hands from your face and shifted his entire body away from you, “I’m so sorry.”
“No, don’t-”
“Oh my god, I’m an idiot!” He ran his fingers through his hair, pulling at the strands as his hands landed at the back of his neck, forcing his head to stare in his lap.
“No you’re not! Hey. Genius. Look at me.” He didn’t. “You’re not. You’re just in a bad place, I get it.”
“No you don’t. This time, you don’t.”
“What do you m—”
“Look, I don’t wanna kick you out but I really think you should leave.”
“Oh yeah… sure… okay.” You slowly rose from the couch on weak knees. Whether it was from adrenaline or anxiety, you couldn’t tell.
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be! Just… please, take care of yourself?” You glance around the room for your belongings, “Shower, eat something, get some rest, please. And call me if you need anything--”
“Y/N, please, just go.”
You felt tears sting your eyes as you reached for the doorknob. You turned your head just enough to look over your shoulder to say, “Goodnight, pretty boy,” before you left. You closed the door behind you and leaned against it, breathing heavily.
(Spencer’s POV)
Why was I kicking her out?
Why was I telling her to leave?
Why was I pushing her away?
Why did I kiss her?
Why did she push me away?
Why did she call me “pretty boy?” She never--
The pieces fell into place as they often do, all at once with the force of a car slamming into a pole at fifty miles per hour.
“Goodnight, Pretty Boy.”
“Goodnight, Princess.”
She remembered that night.
She remembered that night when I drove her home and put her to bed and--
And I told her I had a crush on her in high school.
And I almost said I loved her.
And I almost kissed her then.
God, I wish I had. Any time would have been better than now.
(Reader POV)
You didn’t know you could miss someone so much while they were behind just one door. You could’ve turned around right then and knocked and waited for him to be ready to talk about what just happened. About him kissing you. About you kissing back. About you stopping him. About that drunken night when you let it slip how pretty you thought he was.
You should’ve just waited.
But you couldn’t stand to be that close to him while he wanted to be as far away from you as possible.
So you ran.
You practically sprinted down the stairs and out of his building as quickly as you could, getting in your car and pulling out of the parking lot and getting the fuck away before you hurt anyone else, including yourself.
(Spencer POV)
I couldn’t just let her walk out like that.
I had to say something.
I had to go after her.
I had to get her back.
I needed her.
But when I opened the door, it was like she had never been there.
I leaned on my door frame staring at the staircase down the hall, wishing I had the energy to run after her, to catch her before she reached her car, to stop her from driving away, to tell her I was sorry, to beg her to please, please, come back upstairs and talk to me, but my feet were fixed to the floor and my legs were weak. I just closed my door with my back and slid down to the floor, unable to bring myself to cry anymore. I sat there for god knows how long until I found the energy to crawl over to the coffee table where I had left my phone, picked it up, and dialed a number.
(Reader POV)
You jumped slightly at the sound of your phone ringing, you shuffled through your bag in the passenger seat, desperately trying to find it before the light turned green. Some foolish part of your mind told you it was Spencer, you wished it was Spencer, you wanted nothing more than to turn your car around and talk it all out with him, tell him you were sorry, that you loved him, that you needed him, but your heart sank when you looked at the screen and saw the number.
It was a just fucking spam call.
You threw your phone back in your seat and beat your fists against the steering wheel, groaning and wishing the fucking light would just turn green already. When it finally did, you slammed on the gas a bit too quickly, sending the car jolting forward. You barely stopped the entire rest of the ride home, the universe must have sensed your impatience. As you finally pulled into your driveway, your skull felt as though it was packed with cotton, your tear tracks drying on your cheeks.
You raced up the steps to your door, fussing with the keys and trying to unlock the door as quickly and quietly as possible. You inevitably made noise as you entered, prompting a light to turn on in the living room. Your mom rose from the couch she had been sleeping on, her face dropping from annoyed to concerned.
“Toots, you’re home already? I thought you wouldn’t be back until morning.”
You had thought that you were fresh out of tears, but apparently, you still had more to spare, seeing as you broke the second the words left her mouth.
“Oh my, what happened?” She raced towards you, wrapping you in a hug, “Is Spencer okay? Did something happen?”
As confused and sad as you were, you couldn’t stop the smile that had suddenly appeared on your face, “He kissed me.”
“He what?” She broke the hug, holding your face in her hands and wiping tears off of your cheeks, “Then honey, why on Earth are you here?”
(Spencer POV)
“You kicked her out? Why?”
“Why do you think I called you, Jennifer? What do I do? How do I fix this?”
“Well, what exactly happened?”
“I freaked out, she came over, we talked, I,” I took a deep breath and braced myself for her reaction, “I kissed her—”
She almost choked on her coffee, “And you didn’t lead with that? Don’t you think that’s a little important?”
“I was trying to avoid reliving it for as long as possible.”
“You’ve wanted this since high school, why wouldn’t you want to relive it?”
“She pulled away.” There was no anger or sadness behind my words. I don’t sound hurt as I recount the scene, “She took my hand, I kissed her, she stopped me.”
JJ’s hand brushed over my shoulder and I flinched away slightly.
“I apologized immediately, she wasn't mad or anything, I just…” I trailed off, unable to admit that I just couldn’t look at her anymore. I never thought I’d get tired of seeing her face, but I had needed her to leave. When she pulled away, all I could think about was the sound of Alexa Lisbon sneering at me as Kyle and his goons tied me to that goal post.
“She wanted to help me, and I know she did, but…”
“She couldn’t.” JJ finished my sentence.
I shook my head, “Not this time.”
“But now you want her to come back?”
“And I don’t know how to tell her that because I fucked up.”
“What did she say after you told her to leave? Did she just go?”
(Reader POV)
“I told him not to feel bad and to take care of himself.” You hadn’t had time to tell him how much you wanted to kiss him but neither one of you was in the right state of mind for that.
“Right, yeah, and did he say anything else?”
You winced at the memory of how his voice sounded. “He kept telling me to leave, so I just went for the door and said--”
(Spencer POV)
“‘Goodnight, pretty boy,’” I grumbled, “That was the last thing she said.”
“Okay?”
“She never calls me Pretty Boy.” I told her the whole story. When I was done, her eyebrows were drawn together and lips were pressed together in a thin, worried line uttering, “Spence…”
“What?”
She sighed, saying nothing and smirking slightly to herself, but saying nothing.
“Jennifer.”
“She loves you, genius.”
“Then why’d she leave?”
“Because you told her to. And…” she hesitated, almost scared to say anything else. I was scared to hear it. JJ took my coffee away and dumped it down the sink, a silent indicator that I had enough and needed to go to bed.
She turned back to me and leaned over the table again, making sure I'd look her in the eyes, “She’d do anything for you.”
I just stared down on my hands on the table, unable to say another word, unable to defend myself, unable to fight anymore.
Because I knew she was right.

Follower Milestone
Hey there, all! I recently passed 400 followers, so I thought it would be nice to gift you all some writing!
I had a particular short story that I wanted to gift when we got here, but I’m not entirely happy with it and want to rewrite it.
So, instead, I thought it would be fun to share the predecessor of Ninelives. For those of you who don’t already know, Ninelives was adapted from a short story that I wrote a decade ago for university. It is about a young man who is struggling with depression and, in a failed suicide attempt, learns a small thing about his parents that could potentially evolve into something explosive.
When I started writing this short story, I realized that I wanted to turn it into a novella. The main character would have met someone with a very Carpe Diem attitude and made the shift into a healthier headspace while dealing with his family problems. The overarching theme of the story was the way that little secrets add up. It was always my plan to go back to it once I was done with school, but then real life happened a little too hard (shitty job, pretty severe depression, and some family issues). I never touched it again.
My memory is pretty famously bad about certain things (due to I think ADHD and anxiety). But, of all the short stories that I wrote at uni, I remembered this one like the back of my hand. When I started writing Ninelives, I technically still didn’t touch the old story. I didn’t need to look back at it to remember the overall narrative. I just went at it. And then, a couple of weeks ago, I found the old external drive that I used to store all of my work on and dug up this short story once again.
I think you’ll find the similarities between this short story and Chapter 1 of Ninelives pretty quickly. Dad is kind of an asshole, Mom is pretty dismissive of the main character, and the brother seems to be the only one who cares. Ninelives is also carrying on the theme of secrets in a way. I was actually a little surprised by how similar the two still are, even though they are now different works with a decade of time between them.
This short story is a decade old, thus it hasn’t been edited or revised in the same amount of time, so read it with that in mind. Also, just to be on the safe side...
CONTENT WARNINGS: discussion of suicide, drug abuse/overdose, cigarette use, verbal abuse
And now, without further ado...
Jamie’s ass was beginning to stick to the porcelain tub, and it was getting to him. As if that weren’t enough, the paper sign taped over his crotch created a pocket of hot air that made his dick stick to his leg. The sign read HOW’S THIS FOR AN EXIT, but Jamie wasn’t going anywhere, and that’s what bothered him most of all. He’d downed his father’s bottle of blood pressure meds, but nothing was happening. At least, nothing seemed to be happening, except that Jamie was now hot and sweaty. He had no idea what ODing on blood pressure meds did, but he was pretty sure it wasn’t this. He was even more sure that he wasn’t dying.
This would go down in history as the most anticlimactic suicide ever.
Ten minutes. Twenty minutes. Thirty. An hour. Jamie felt some discomfort—a little sick to his stomach, the porcelain pressing against his boney ass—that was it. Now he was bored and naked, and someone would probably come looking for him soon. Probably.
His brother, Graham, was the one who called up to him. “Hey, Jammy,” he said. “Dinner’s ready. Get down here.”
Jamie spent a good five minutes after that staring at the ceiling, which was covered in a layer of grime from years of shower steam. Either that or the years during Jamie’s childhood when he’d come in here to smoke. His parents had never looked for him here. That hadn’t changed now that it was the spare bathroom instead of Graham and Jamie’s.
But Graham knew Jamie’s hiding spots and came looking for him. Jamie heard Graham call for him in the hall for a few minutes, maybe less. Then Graham knocked on the door. “Jammers, dinner. What are you doing in there?”
Jamie hadn’t locked the door. That would have been too dramatic. Now it was a mistake, and Graham walked in just as Jamie got out of the tub and crumpled up his suicide note. The family always seemed to be catching Jamie with his pants down, just never quite so literally.
Graham didn’t seem surprised or the least bit embarrassed. Jamie felt one of the two emotions, though he wasn’t sure which, and it wasn’t so much over his nakedness as it was the other circumstances. Graham crossed his arms and said, “Taking a bath?” He raised an eyebrow and cleared his throat.
“No, I wasn’t jacking off,” Jamie said. “Just being here makes me limp.” The fact that Jamie hated coming home wasn’t news to Graham. Jamie thought that would be enough to end the conversation, but Graham’s eyes flashed to something behind him, and Jamie remembered he’d left the empty prescription bottle on the side of the tub.
“What were you doing, Jamie?” Graham asked.
Jamie grabbed the bottle and tossed it in the garbage along with his suicide note—or maybe it was better to call it his ex-suicide note. It would be the only ex he’d ever had. He grabbed a towel from the wall to cover himself and said, “Remind me to tell Dad that Mom’s been giving him placebos.”
“Jamie—”
“Gonna let me get dressed for dinner or what?” Jamie said.
Graham let Jamie pass but followed him down the hall to his old room. Jamie packed clothes in his backpack instead of leaving some here like Graham did. It took him a few seconds to get the shirt he was looking for. He could feel Graham’s eyes on him. He gave up on pulling out his nice pants and put on the jeans he’d worn earlier that day. Graham was getting suspicious, Jamie knew. But it didn’t matter why he was staring; it made Jamie self-conscious of just about everything under the sun. He fumbled with the button on his pants for a good few minutes—almost broke the thing off—before he got it. When he turned back to the door, Graham was still staring.
They made eye contact and Graham asked again. “What were you doing?”
“Nothing,” Jamie said. He tried to make his way downstairs, but Graham was blocking the door. This time, he didn’t move.
“Jamie, you’re scaring me,” Graham said.
“Would it make you feel better if I said I knew they were placebos?”
“Did you?”
Jamie pushed his way past Graham. Graham grabbed Jamie for a second and then let go, as if unsure what he was supposed to do once he had him. Jamie didn’t have the answers either, wasn’t sure what he’d do if he their positions were reversed. They would never be reversed, though. Graham’s life was perfect; suicide wasn’t even an option for him. He had no idea what it was like. Maybe that’s why he was silent now.
Once they were seated around the dinner table, it was almost as if it never happened. Their parents went on about their usual praise of Graham’s life, but not before ragging on Jamie about his. “Dinner has been at seven sharp every Saturday for the last fifteen years,” Margery said. “I don’t know why you can’t get that through your head.”
Jamie knew that. That’s why he’d chosen the time he did. “I lost track of time,” Jamie said. He didn’t say more; they were going to tear him apart either way.
“It’s those work hours of his,” Hugh said. “He has a different schedule every week. If you’d get a real job, you wouldn’t have that problem.” Hugh didn’t look up from his plate as he cut his meat. He always ate the meat first, but not before cutting it into perfect little cubes.
I have a real job, Jamie might’ve said, but they’d had this conversation before. Hugh meant a salary job. Flipping burgers didn’t count unless Jamie was making more than twenty an hour.
“Speaking of work,” Margery said, “How did your last settlement go, Graham?” Margery went for her veggies first. She didn’t eat meat and only let Hugh at dinner, though Jamie suspected he snuck it during his lunch.
“It went well,” Graham said. He’d barely touched his food, but Hugh looked up from his plate at that moment, and Graham dug in.
“You’re not usually so tight-lipped,” Hugh said.
Graham kept his eyes on his plate. “It’s pretty easy to reach a settlement when the couple agrees on it before they even come to see me,” he said.
Graham was a divorce lawyer, carrying on the family tradition. Sort of. Their grandfather had been a judge and a prosecutor before that. Hugh was also a prosecutor. Graham’s decision to become a divorce lawyer had been met with a little resistance, but Hugh readily accepted it once Graham proved it made a lot of money. Everyone’s getting divorced these days, Graham had said. I’ll never be out of the job.
“That’s how prevalent your brother is, Jamie,” Hugh said. “Divorcees go to see him even when they don’t need his help.”
Jamie kept his face in his plate and poked at his food with his fork. What Hugh really meant was, “Why can’t you be successful like your brother?” It was the same game every Saturday; that’s why Jamie hated coming here. But it meant a free meal, even if Jamie had usually lost his appetite by the time he got it. Besides, if he didn’t come, that would be just one more disappointment.
“Jamie will figure it out,” Graham said. This was his way of taking Jamie’s side. Usually.
“As soon as he figures how to pay his rent on time,” Hugh said.
Will you please stop talking about me like I’m not here, Jamie wanted to say.
“You’ve paid this month’s rent, I hope,” Hugh said.
“I paid it last month,” Jamie said. He’d borrowed some money from Graham to do so with the promise of paying it back once he found a new roommate. The last one packed up and left without a word. Jamie's parents didn't know about the money, and he wasn't about to tell them now.
“You need to learn how to get ahead in all areas of your life, not just your bills,” Hugh said.
“Jamie,” Margery said, “get your chin off the table.”
Jamie felt like he was eleven again.
Jamie went outside for a smoke when dinner was over. He didn’t smoke anymore, but he kept reserves for these occasions. Few Saturdays passed without a cigarette. He usually kept with the old ritual, smoked on the edge of the tub with the bathroom door closed and the window open. After today, he avoided that bathroom., and not only because it embarrassed him. Graham was like a hawk for the rest of the night. He didn’t take his eyes off Jamie, even when they were cleaning the dishes. He’d gone so far as to clean all the knives himself. Jamie couldn’t lay a hand on them.
Graham was outside with Jamie, too, hovering over his shoulder like Hugh used to do when Jamie was a child. “You still smoke,” Graham said.
“Only after I’m well-cooked by the parents,” Jamie said.
“Smoking will kill you, you know,” Graham said. He shifted his stance. “Why not just smoke two packs a day?”
“Because so far the only life goal I’ve met is not getting cancer.”
“We’re switching rooms tonight.”
“Why?”
Graham took Jamie’s cigarette and tossed it into the gravel. “My room doesn’t have a lock,” Graham said.
“Oh, please,” Jamie said. “I didn’t lock the bathroom door, did I?”
“Thank god for that.”
“What does it matter?” Jamie said. “Dad will kill me when he finds that bottle in the trash anyway.”
“Let’s go inside,” Graham said.
“I didn’t get to finish my cigarette.”
“Inside, now,” Graham said.
Jamie didn’t have time to move before Graham corralled him inside with a hand on his shoulder. When they came in, Margery was on the landing and Hugh was shouting at her from their bedroom. To Margery, Jamie and Graham must have looked like two brothers who’d just shared a special moment. It was some kind of special moment, but she didn’t pick up on the animosity and smiled down at them.
“What’s Dad shouting about?” Graham asked.
“He can’t find his medication,” Margery said. “I’m sure he just misplaced it. Wouldn’t be the first time. I assume you two are leaving early tomorrow?”
Graham nodded. “Actually, I’ve been talking to Jamie about moving in with him.”
“Oh?” Margery said.
Jamie echoed the oh so immediately that they almost said it at the same time.
“Yes,” Graham said. His fingers dug in to Jamie’s shoulder. “At least until he can find a new roommate.”
Margery smiled. “Maybe you can help him get his life on track,” she said.
“Something like that,” Graham said, and he shook Jamie’s shoulder.
Graham was true to his word and made Jamie take his room. He opened the doors wide and, instead of going to bed himself, sat and watched Jamie from across the hall.
“You have to drive in the morning,” Jamie said.
“You’ll drive,” Graham said.
“Not afraid I’ll crash the car?”
“No,” Graham said, “because then it would be a murder-suicide.”
“You’re not moving in with me,” Jamie said.
“Either I move in with you or I check you into a psyche ward on suicide watch.”
“The apartment is small.”
“Jamie, I lived in a smaller apartment through eight years of college,” Graham said. “I’ll manage.”
“You’re really going to watch me sleep?” Jamie asked.
“Get used to it,” Graham said. “From now on, I’ll have to watch you do a lot of things.”
In the morning, Graham was still watching. The two of them drove back to Denver in Graham’s SUV, and Graham started moving some of his things into Jamie’s apartment later that day.

something about you;
introduction | masterlist | tag | wattpad
Nineteen. April, 2016.
He gets back to London and throws himself straight into it—writing, playing, fixing everything. It’s a little easier than he expected it to be, finding a life for himself here, fitting himself back into society. It turns out, Niall learns, that dropping off the face of the Earth for a few months doesn’t actually erase your existence from the world, and your friends still want to see you when you get back.
He spends every day in the studio, head shoved into a notebook, fingers constantly picking at a guitar. When he’s not writing he’s on conference calls and email chains with various record labels, back and forth negotiations and mock-up contracts, lawyers and assistants and more business than he’s ever done in his life. For the first time in as long as he can remember Niall feels like he knows exactly what he wants, and how to ask for it. Soon enough, he thinks, he’ll have something to show for it, too.
When he’s not writing or juggling record execs vying for his attention, Niall’s reconnecting—or at least giving it a shot. He starts with Mully, knows he’ll bend easiest. A meet-up for a pint to talk about his trip blossoms into weekly nights out, which blossoms into Emilia joining them once in a while. Mully’s been spending time with Niall’s mates in London while Niall’s been away and they welcome him back without much fuss: Eoghan McDermott, Laura Whitmore, the lot. It’s all easier than Niall expected, even if there’s one painfully gaping hole right in the middle of it.
On a Friday night near the end of April Mully calls him, fifteen minutes before they’re meant to meet down the pub for a few pints. Half dressed, Niall sandwiches his phone between his ear and his shoulder as he works on fixing his hair in the mirror.
‘Alright, Mullz?’
‘Change of plans,’ says Mully. ‘Mia just called me. The whole LIC is going to The Hereford Arms tonight, you wanna join?’
‘Sure,’ Niall shrugs, though he’s never heard of the place. ‘Laura, Eoghan, the whole lot?’
‘Yeah,’ Mully slows down a little bit and Niall can imagine him on the other end of the phone in the flat he shares with Emilia, the face he pulls when he’s starting to get nervous. ‘The, uh, the whole LIC, Nialler.’
It computes in Niall’s brain like an electric shock, like a jolt of some indeterminable emotion through his nervendings. He can’t tell if he’s excited or terrified when he says, choosing his words carefully, ‘Got it. And, erm, does the whole LIC include anyone… Scottish?’
‘Huh?’ Mully sounds genuinely confused and Niall almost laughs. He’d tried so hard to be delicate.
‘Jack,’ he says, deciding to say fuck all to pretense. Mully is his best mate, he should be able to ask him out right. ‘Will Isla be bringing Jack?’
‘Oh, Jesus, no. They broke up, mate.’
‘They what?’ Now it’s excitement, for sure, vibrating in his fingertips. He can’t even bring himself to care about how cruel it is to be happy that someone you love is going through a breakup. ‘When?’
‘Ages ago,’ Mully sounds casual, like this is something Niall should’ve known. But Niall hadn’t asked—half because he was afraid of the answer and half, he thinks, because he didn’t want it to get back to Isla that he was asking about her. The thought of it makes him feel a bit queasy. ‘But, uh, Bressie will be there.’
‘Okay?’ Niall’s clearly missing so much information that it makes him feel like he’s on another planet. ‘It’ll be sick to see him. It’s mad that we’re both in London and I haven’t.’
‘Right, okay,’ Mully sounds resigned. ‘It’s in South Kensington. See you there in half an hour?’
--
The pub is pretty packed, doors and windows propped open to welcome in the spring warmth, a gaggle of people spilling out onto the sidewalk with pints and cigarettes and loud, boisterous laughs. Paddy cap pulled down snug over his forehead, Niall’s sure no one will recognize him here, so he lets himself in without too much hesitation, eyes scanning the crowded room for his friends.
He finds them thanks to Bressie’s height: six of his favorite people standing in a snug circle near the back of the bar. For a moment, Niall watches them, his heart humming at the sight. These are his people, he thinks, his family. And in the middle of it all, Isla.
From here he can almost pretend. He can imagine what it would be like to walk over to them in another, less complicated life, and squeeze right in. He’d talk about his day at work, whine about delays on the tube, slide his free hand around Isla’s waist and press a kiss to her lips before getting himself a beer. He’d spend the night not worrying—not looking over his shoulder for cameras, not double checking that every stranger who talks to him doesn’t have their phone set to record. Maybe he’d even snog Isla against the wall outside for a little bit, until someone tells him off for being annoying, and then he’d take her home and fuck her against the inside of their front door, in their cozy little flat, in their easy little lives. For just a second, from just this far, Niall can pretend.
Someone walks past Niall, accidentally jostling his shoulder a little bit, and his daydream is over. Instead, he swallows his heart in his throat and makes his way over to his friends cautiously, a gentle smile, a desperation in his chest.
--
It’s fine. It really ends up being perfectly fine.
He’s seen everyone other than Isla and Bressie recently enough for it not to be weird, and he should’ve remembered, really, that with Isla it can never be weird. She hugs him like no time has passed, pulls away from it like he couldn’t feel the quickening beat of her heart against his own chest.
He doesn’t get any alone time with her until around 11:30, when Bressie, Laura, and Eoghan go to get another drink, and Mully and Emilia disappear without a trace. It’s just him and Isla then, sitting across from each other in the booth their group had commandeered hours ago. He feels his stomach clench when he looks at her for too long—at how much she’s grown, at how much she still looks like the girl he fell in love when when he was a boy. He thinks of himself, fourteen years old and desperately in love, and feels the same.
He’s literally been all the way around the world and back, and the person he wants the most is still right here.
‘Hiya,’ she says, after a few moments of silence. She tilts her head a little, a lock of dark brown hair falling from where it was tucked behind her ear. She’s gotten more piercings there—Niall only remembers two, the last time he was kissing her. ‘I’m glad you’re home.’
‘Me too,’ it’s pointless to lie around Isla. ‘I missed you.’
‘Missed you too,’ she smiles, just for him. ‘How was your big adventure? Or are you sick of people asking that question?’
‘It was brilliant, and, yeah, I kind of am,’ Niall can’t help his stupid fucking smile around Isla, and the alcohol isn’t doing him any favors. Still, he carries on. ‘Thanks for asking. How’s uni?’
‘Almost done,’ she says, looking overwhelmed just at the thought of it. ‘I graduate in May.’
‘Fucking hell.’
‘I know.’
‘I’m not gonna ask you what your plan is next.’
‘Thank fuck,’ she giggles, pulls a long sip from her Guinness. ‘Knew I could trust you.’
He’s had enough beer to make him braver than usual, to not stop himself as he says, ‘I’m sorry to hear about you and Jamie.’
Pint still at her lips, Isla smiles, shutting her eyes for a second as if she’s trying to hold back a laugh. She swallows, slow, thick, and then parts her lips pointedly, eyes locked on Niall’s. ‘His name was Jack,’ she tells him. ‘And I really don’t think you are.’
Niall can feel himself heating up, a red flush making its way from his cheeks to his chest, exposed thanks to his partially unbuttoned shirt. Isla’s smiling gently, her lips pressed together, and Niall doesn’t have enough time to think up anything smooth, to let her know he really, really isn’t, before Mully and Emilia come back, swollen lips and stupid smiles and fresh drinks for all four of them, completely oblivious.
--
He wakes up the next morning with a dull headache, a sour taste in his mouth, and a buoyant feeling in his chest. It’s too early to get excited but Niall’s never been good at controlling his emotions around Isla, never been good at separating fact from feeling when it comes to her, and he doesn’t really want to, either—it’s been so long since he’s felt like this about anything. He stretches out in bed and lets himself have just a few moments of it.
It’s his phone vibrating next to him for the fourth time in ten minutes that snaps Niall out of it.
Holding his phone up over his face, Niall squints at the screen, too bright in his dark room. It’s only 10am and he didn’t get home until nearly 2 and somehow he’s got over a dozen texts already: from Mully, from Kim at Modest!, from Deo. It’s a weird enough combination to make Niall swipe his phone open right away, worry creeping in as he does.
All three of them have sent him the same link from the Sun.
He clicks on Deo’s text first, least worried about leaving him on read if it’s an emergency. He taps through and gets in two full deep breaths before it loads: a series of pictures of them all at the pub last night, of him and Isla, taken through a window from the street. It’s just a few seconds, Niall knows, but the pictures make it look like it lasted all night: their lingering hug goodbye, Niall’s arm resting around her waist for a moment too long, his lips pressed to her cheek, just a little bit too close to her mouth to be friendly. It had been enough, last night, for him to spend the entire cab ride home in a fever dream of what could come next—but it wasn’t anything serious.
But pictures can be spun, Niall knows that. Especially when there’s a headline involved.
He reads it, stomach tight: NIALL HORAN HAS STEAMY LONDON REUNION WITH EX-FLAME AMIDST HER RUMORED FLING WITH FELLOW MULLINGAR MUSICIAN NIALL BRESLIN (PHOTOS).
Two deep breaths.
Niall feels the alcohol coming back up.

The Haunting of Bly Manor Cast: Where You’ve Seen the Actors Before
https://ift.tt/3loTz7C
There’s a simple answer to where you’ve seen most of 2020’s The Haunting of Bly Manor‘s cast before: in 2018’s The Haunting of Hill House. Writer-director Mike Flanagan has a resident company of actors with roles across several of his horror projects, as shown by the significant crossover between these two Netflix series alone. Victoria Pedretti, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Henry Thomas and Katie Parker are just some of the familiar faces appearing in Flanagan’s new Henry James-inspired spooky series Bly Manor. And here’s what else this bunch is known for on screen.
Henry Thomas – Henry Wingrave
Thomas’ most famous role came at the age of 10 when he played young lead Elliott in Steven Spielberg’s 1982 blockbuster E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (see his terrific audition tape here). In recent years, Thomas has been a frequent collaborator with writer-director Mike Flanagan, playing the young Hugh Crain, father to the five Crain children and husband of Olivia Crain in Flanagan’s The Haunting of Hill House. He also appeared in three of Flanagan’s feature films, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep, as well has having recurring roles in FX comedy Better Things and Stargirl.
Amelie Bea Smith – Flora Wingrave
Nine-year-old Amelie Bea Smith already has three significant roles under her belt. As well as her terrific performance as Flora Wingrave in Bly Manor, she’s also the current actor to voice cartoon character Peppa Pig (a huge deal in the UK), having taken over the role from her predecessor earlier this year. Before Smith took on that mantle, she had a recurring role in long-running BBC One soap EastEnders, playing Arshad and Mariam’s foster child Daisy.
Benjamin Evan Ainsworth – Miles Wingrave
Ainsworth, the little genius behind Miles Wingrave will soon be seen alongside Alyson Hannigan, Ben Schwarz, Danny Pudi and more in Disney+ feature film Flora and Ulysses, the story of a girl and a squirrel with magic powers. Previous to Bly Manor, he also appeared in short film The Recycling Man and a 2018 episode of British soap Emmerdale.
Victoria Pedretti – Dani Clayton
Pedretti made a real impression as the adult Nell Crain in Mike Flanagan’s The Haunting of Hill House. Nellie was a sufferer of sleep paralysis and haunted throughout by ‘The Bent-Neck Lady’, if you remember. She and her twin brother Luke were the youngest of the five Crain siblings. Pedretti also played hippy Lulu, a member of the Charles Manson Family in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, and played major character Love Quinn in the second season of Netflix’s stalker-thriller You. She can soon be seen as Katherine in the Elisabeth Moss-starring Shirley Jackson biopic Shirley.
T’Nia Miller – Hannah Grose
Miller’s had roles in several Russell T. Davies projects, starting with Cucumber and Banana, and last year leading to the major part of Celeste in Davies’ BBC One future-set family drama Years and Years. She’s recently appeared in Netflix’s Sex Education as head of the school board Maxine Tarrington, and has popped up in a great many British TV shows including Marcella, Born to Kill, Hatton Garden and 2015 episode of Doctor Who ‘Hell Bent’.
Rahul Kohli – Owen
Kohli is best recognised around these parts as Medical Examiner Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti in The CW’s iZombie. A major character in the comic book-inspired horror-fantasy, Kohli appeared across the series’ five seasons, which kept him busy from 2015-2019. He’s also appeared in a couple of episodes of Supergirl as Lena Luthor’s ex, Jack Spheer. Along with Kate Siegel, Henry Thomas and Alex Essoe, he’ll next appear in Mike Flanagan’s forthcoming haunted island series Midnight Mass.

The Haunting of Bly Manor Review (Spoiler-Free)
By Nick Harley
TV
New on Netflix: October 2020 Releases
By Alec Bojalad
Oliver Jackson-Cohen – Peter Quint
Unforgettable as Luke Crain in The Haunting of Hill House, British actor Oliver Jackson-Cohen’s biggest recent film role was as the titular lead aka Adrian Griffin in Leigh Whannell’s 2020 remake The Invisible Man, opposite Elisabeth Moss. He’s already had a full career on British TV, with early roles in cosy period dramas Lark Rise to Candleford and Mr Selfridge, as well as playing Prince William in 2011 TV series William and Kate: Happily Ever After. In the US, Jackson-Cohen played Jonathan Harker to Jonathan Rhys-Meyers’ Dracula in the NBC series of the same name. He also popped up as Lucas in Emerald City and will soon be seen in the Maggie Gyllenhaal-directed The Lost Daughter.
Tahirah Sharif – Rebecca Jessell
If you’ve seen Netflix’s A Christmas Prince and its unstoppable raft of sequels, you’ll recognise Sharif as Melissa, a friend to and former co-worker of lead Amber. Before that, she played the regular role of Carrie Norton in BBC One school drama Waterloo Road and Ella, Ash’s daughter on long-running British medical drama Casualty.
Matthew Holness – Dominic Wingrave
Comedian-writer-actor Matthew Holness has appeared in Friday Night Dinner, Toast of London, Year of the Rabbit, Back, Life’s Too Short and Free Agents, but he’ll only ever be associated with one role for this site’s readers: dreamweaver Garth Marenghi of Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace fame.
Alex Essoe – Charlotte Wingrave
Before she took on the role of Wendy Torrance in Mike Flanagan’s Doctor Sleep (the same character memorably played by Shelley Duvall in Kubrick’s The Shining) Alex Essoe had a string of low-budget horror flicks to her name. She’s now part of the Flanagan rep company, and will be following up her Bly Manor role with a recurring part on the writer-director’s forthcoming TV series Midnight Mass.
Amelia Eve – Jamie
The role of Bly Manor gardener Jamie is, it’s fair to say, Amelia Eve’s biggest screen part to date, but surely that won’t be the case for long. She’s also completed filming roles in soon-to-be-released feature films Big Boys Don’t Cry, Shadowland, Dorcha and Thea.
Kate Siegel – Viola
Horror star Siegel is a key part of the Mike Flanagan company on screen and in real life (they got married in 2016 after working together on a host of horror properties from Ouija: Origin of Evil to Oculus and Hush). She played glove-wearing child psychologist Theo, one of the adult Crain siblings in Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House, and will also soon appear in Flanagan series Midnight Mass. In Bly Manor, Siegel plays 17th-century noblewoman Viola, whose story forms the basis of a full-episode flashback.
Katie Parker – Perdita
Remember the 1920s flapper ghost in The Haunting of Hill House? That was Katie Parker, who’s back in Bly Manor playing 17th century noblewoman Perdita, sister to Viola (see above).
Carla Gugino – Narrator
Gugino played Olivia Crain, mother to the five Crain children in The Haunting of Hill House, and for obvious reasons she is (at the time of writing) uncredited for her role as the narrator of Bly Manor. Gugino’s screen career is as long as your arm (if your arm were very, very long) and goes all the way from recurring roles in 80s soap Falcon Crest to 90s comedy Spin City and medical drama Chicago Hope, 2000s comedies Entourage and Californication, all the way through the Spy Kids franchise, to more recent projects The Brink, Jett and Manhunt.

The Haunting of Bly Manor is streaming now on Netflix.

Arboretums or big botanical gardens where I can get lost in the plants for a moment and take in how pretty they all are. And old monuments/big things people of the past built. 55. favorite fairy tale?
Beauty and the Beast (AH...AH...I SEE YOU ROLLING YOUR EYES BECAUSE I’M TRANS. I KNOW. I *KNOW*.)
56. favorite tradition?
It’s a family tradition kinda unique to my household. Each year, we draw a name from a hat, and that name comes with a lot of words that describe us and what we liked over that year. We then each take a $20 bill and we go to a little hobby shop with cheap things in it and use that $20 bill to fill a Christmas stocking. We then hang them back up and empty the stocking full of candies and random silly things and have a good laugh and guess who filled whose stocking.
57. the three biggest struggles you’ve overcome?
The first one is coming to terms with knowing my dad has a severe illness. It really shook my family up, and it’s terrifying us right now with everything going on, but after a while, I learned that he was smiling, so I could smile, too.
The second one is my mother coming back from her tour in the Middle East on top of the murder of my godmother. Two very stressful things happened at once. My mother got very violent from her PTSD and her best friend died in a horrible way. It was an adjustment for everyone, and it kind of ripped my family to pieces. I can say, though, that my parents are still married and are getting better, and my sister and I are coming back to the family to be more open and healthy.
The third, and maybe some of my followers are aware, was getting rid of my ex-fiance. He was a man who sexually assaulted me repeatedly and I won’t go into details beyond that. It took me 5 years to get rid of him and accept what happened, but I am a much happier person now and while I work through the trauma that caused me, I have the most wonderful partner by my side and if you had told me back then I’d find someone as kind and patient and loving as him, I would have laughed and thought you were insane.

I was supposedly born with a scar it’s at the part where my foot meets my leg on my left side and you can see how it’s stretched over the years if you run your finger over it. The joke is that the doctor taking out my mom’s appendix scratched me in the womb.

88. your greatest wish?
To make enough of a difference in someone’s life that they learn to love themself.
89. who would you put before everyone else?
Such a selfish thought...gosh...the mere thought of prioritizing someone troubles me.
90. luckiest mistake?
Telling a cute guy sending me dog pictures was an excellent flirting technique as he sent me pictures of his puppy. I immediately thought “oh god I’ve fucked up bad” and at present we’re kinda head over heels for one another so maybe just be stupidly blunt once and a while you might find true love.
91. boxes or bags?
Boxes. My cat didn’t force me to say that. Not at all. Sock, buddy, off the keyboard-
92. lamps, overhead lights, sunlight or fairy lights?

TV Shows that I Watched in 2017
A Series of Unfortunate Events (2 Episodes)
I Nearly forget that I watch this ! I Watched 2 episodes and then something happened to my computer, I don’t remember what ! but I lost interesting, and still with no interesting what so ever to continue watching.
Samurai Jack (Season 5)
This wasn’t my favorite cartoon back in the day so I wasn’t expecting much out of it ,but oh man ! Turn out to be a really good ! a much more mature story line, I got a little down by the end, But I think it end really well ! The whole story of Jack dealing with his failure and his own wish for Death was pretty interesting, when all of that was solved it kinda drop the ball a little ! and Visually too, by the end the visual aspect of the show is gone ! I remember that some people are really worried about if Ashi and Jack are gonna end up together, well this is tumblr, this is what really important here !! I don’t know/care about the general opinion about the ending of the show, but I guess for other people if doesn’t go the way they want they will rage about it ! which is pretty stupid ! after the success of this revival, some other shows announced a revival,First Invader Zim and then Hey Arnold, The Arnold movie come out just recently,But Invader Zim is still with no date of release, that’s a bummer.
Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex (Season 1)
If we talk about fidelity to the material which was originated, this version of Ghost In the Shell is the more faithful adaption of the comic ! Mamoru Oshii movie was good, but It kinda goes really far from the manga, like this version got more of the political and crime drama that the comic had and it’s more appropriated to the show. The Major of this version is more like the Major of the comic, she have a pretty humorous personality, way more in the comic, The tachikomas are in here and the the whole section 5 appears in most episodes, even trough the main focus is on The Major,Batou and Ishikawa, most on him ! I guess because he’s the most Human Character in the team !
The Show is divide in a main line story,The Laughing Man case, and some others cases, that later on some of they get integrated into the main story, overall is pretty good, I can’t think of something bad about this show, everything is really well craft, expect to the Major Child Spare body, why the fuck she have that ? Why she use that ? That’s was really weird !! Other think that is good and deserve some credit is the dub, the English dub is really good, but only for the main characters, everyone else have a mediocre or bad dub, In fact it was really hard to find subs for this show !
Doctor Who (Season 10)
This season was bad ! The First half of episodes are ok,but the second is just the worst ! and this season got the worst season Finale so far ! Let’s break this shit down !!
Let’s start with Bill, did she have a arc of a story in this show ?? for most of the time she was just there ! either something happen to her and the doctor have to save her or she was there to do something and say something, but outside of that, she doesn’t have a story ! in comparison to another character like Martha from Season 3,she did have a story, she began travailing with the Doctor, she kinda fall in love with him but he doesn’t love her, things happens and Martha and the doctor solve it ! and by then end she quits because the Doctor doesn’t love her and she get on her life,it’s kinda lame but at least it have some goods reasons, Bill story is like What ?? She travel with the doctor, die and becomes a cyberman, die again and become a liquid alien and then she goes way because the doctor is Dead and her Crush come to get her ?! Is that even a conclusion ? Nardole was even worse, he’s boring, he is a boring comic relief, he was pretty funny on the Christmas specials, but on this he’s like the Doctor’s mom ! and he also have nothing to do ! most of the episode he appear he doesn’t do anything, So Why put him in there ??
The First half episodes are good, they are most involving the relationship between the Doctor and Bill, again Jamie Mathieson write a really good episode “Oxygen”probably the best episode of this season even trough I don’t think it was his best episode ! Extremys was also good, even trough it had some of the over the top stuff that Moffat like to put ! The Doctor meeting the Pope, The Doctor Fuck the pope, a female Pope ? for some reason they keep trying to make that Doctor have bang half of the universe ! I was expecting at some point Matt Smith say to Clara “hey Clara did I Tell you about when I Bang Joana D’arc ?” and also anything that happens in this episode got nothing to do with the next, Why the monks are running this specific scenario ?? Why they let they own Computer send a warning to the Doctor ??
The Other half of episode is when things start to fall apart, “the Pyramids at the end of World” still a solid episode even trough the most convenient thing happens at the end to let the story have a third part ! This Third part is a Failure, they had a really good premise “the Monks have brainwash humanity to believe they are they rulers and the Doctor is on they side” This could be a really good episode, but turns out to be bullshit, turns out the Doctor is faking he do a faking regeneration just to fuck with Bill, also they really exploit the fact that this is the last season of Capaldi and think they audience are a bunch of idiots that don’t know that will only happens in the last episode ! At least the scene with Michelle Gomez was good ! Mark Gatiss write another bad episode so fuck it, The Eaters of Light was really good, after two really bad episodes it’s refreshing to have a episode with Doctor Who stuff on it !! and then The Season Finally comes in, World Enough and Time was pretty good, even trough I Got a big issue with The Doctor saying that he have a Crush on the Master when they are children, was that really Necessary ?? did Moffat had to do this so he could appeal the hearth of some horny teenager girl Out there ? did the Doctor really need to say “Oh he was my fundamental school crush”, Was that necessary,no ! Fuck You Steve !! But that’s not even the tip of the Iceberg ! The problems get worse on the last Episode !
The Doctor Falls his the lamest Season Finale so far !! This episode is a soap novel that doesn’t go anywhere !! and also they keep showing the Doctor Contenting his regeneration, Oh he can do that now ? yeah I Guess he can, and only now !! Why Bring John Simm back if you not gonna do anything with him ?? The Only thing that he do is Flirt with Gomez and then shoot her in the back, also that, You expect that Missy story will have some kinda of nice conclusion,Oh ! Missy is turning good ? she will have some kinda of redemption at the end, that since interesting, but Moffat have to end that in a lame way with he Master Shooting himself, Oh ! God Moffat ! get your dick out of our mouth !! that was terrible and we something even worse ! You have the lamest Deus Ex-Machina that I Ever seeing,so the Doctor is dead, cyberBill is about to die and then The Liquid alien girl appears at the end and just transform Bill into another liquid alien, Because she can do that of course !! if this chick could appear anytime to help she could appear sometime before all this shit happens,or even in some other episode where Bill was in danger and she could help, But any way, she get then make in the Tardis,How ??, and she just happens to know how to pilot the Tardis, because she is a Dues Ex-Machina !! and then Bill leaves the Tardis seeing “Yeah Doctor that was fun,But your Dead Now,and my Crush have come pick me up, so Bye !” and the she leaves, The doctor wake and say some embarrassing and unnecessary stuff and go outside the Tardis to Scream NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO in the snow, because he acting like a kid and does not want to regenerate. Man ! That was terrible ! Fuck You Steven Moffat !!
American Gods (Season 1)
Adaptation of a book, written by Neil Gaiman,Book that I read in the beginning of the year and I Like reading it,maybe it was the last Book that read this year ! I don’t remember ! But anyway, I Liked this show overall, really competent adaption, just some things i Think Like: Anansi is not a elderly pervert man, that was the whole reasons I like that character, because he was grumpy and every line he insulted Shadow. Other thing I didn’t like was the among of gratuity sex scenes in the show, there is not that among of fucking in book, there is this scene where Bisquis Pussy vore this guy in the beginning and some other sex scene later, in the show they put some more of Bisquis eating people for no reason at all !! she also become a important character now, because in the book she appears and then she appears again and die !
Michiko To Hatchin (22 Episodes)
Anime is not really my thing, But this year I Try somethings, this and Ghost In the shell are the ones that I Like ! I find this thanks to Tumblr,Yeah !! sometimes you can find good things in this place, It got my attention because of the premise, It happens in Brasil and some Brazilian guy made the sound track, that enough to get me to watch ! and I Like it, one thing I find weird is the Tone of the show, like it begins really cheeky and Funny and on the forth episodes things start to get more serious and then get less serious, and it keeps going like this into the end. The Director of this show Sayo Yamamoto, direct a show that made a huge success last year, specially here on tumblr, the anime about gay ice skating “Yuri on Ice” I kinda wanna watch that now, just because it was directed by her ! By The end of anime I Got that the message was “Girls shouldn’t be running after man that are fucking jackasses” which I think that is true and right !
Ballroom & Youkoso (4 Episodes)
This was the first deception on trying to get on Modern anime ! It is this slice of life with a bunch of dull characters and dull humor, I didn’t like anything about it, the animation too was really dull, like everything in this show was dull for me ! The whole point that I thought it will be interesting was the dancing part ! but when that happens, it’s lifeless, like Finally the dull Protagonist get to Dance and he does a incredible move where he stand still !! don’t move, dance is all about moving and the first he does is not Move !! in the next episode the “I’m the best” character goes dance, furious because the dull protagonist got some fun not dancing on his place, and the you think is gonna be the most awesome thing into the next Dance contest, but there is only 10 seconds of actual dancing and the rest is just flashing images and the crowd cheering, I Get the impression that I should be doing the same but is so dull !! after this I really could care anymore !
Preacher (Season 2)
I Enjoyed This Season a Lot more then the first,Like this season have a lot more of the fell of the comic into it then the first and it’s way more resolved in the adaptation part ! finally Jesse gonna search for god ! the they motivations are different, in the comic Jesse what to find God because pissed with him and the TV show he want to do that because he thinks that he is in some kind of holy mission ! The Humor get’s kinda predictable, Because everyone in the world of Preacher is really nasty and terrible person, so you know that something nasty is gonna happen ! One thing that I find strange was the whole Hitler good man thing, every time that happen is said “No Man! what are you doing !!” in times like this, that’s pretty dangerous !!
Castlevania (Season 1)
Warren Ellis can do anything, he can write a story about dish washing and it gonna be the most awesome thing ever, it will probably involve a alien abduction or a secret organization plot to kill aliens or supernatural creatures ! any way this was another good show with marvelous quality, the only bummer it is so short, 4 episodes, and when it ends it end out of the no where like “that is, more next year” ! I Just wandering what’s gonna happen in the next season ! if Belmonth is gonna have to fight the monster of Frankenstein and mummy ?!
Psycho-Pass (20 Minutes)
Din’t even bother to get anything for this ! I Thought this would be a good show, the premise was good, the design of the characters look like shit ! But maybe the story would be good, but when I Finally watch, damn, that was terrible ! the first episode begins with the villan (I guess) wanking about himself and then it goes for some of the stupid anime shit that ever seen ! I Just could care ! after 20 minutes i Just stop the video and said no ! fuck this !!
Twin Peaks (Season 1,2 and 3)
My favorite show of the year !! I Got interesting in it when I saw somethings here on Tumblr, and the I decide to Watch the First episode of the Third season, after watching some episodes I decide to go see the other 2 seasons (To see if anything that I saw it will make sense), that was like 36 episodes or something, for some reasons at the time I got nothing to do so had plenty of time of nothing to do ! I Enjoy most of it, it’s like a Soap Novel with bizarre characters and that managed to get me entreating to watch everything and see what was gonna happens with to does characters,You Know like any other show should be ! But It fells kinda flat after they solve the mystery of who killed Laura Palmer, but the whole thing with Window Earl was cool the actor that play him was really good ! I Just wonder how he moved a giant piece of Chest to that, hum that … that place and later they show like 5 people with a crane trying to move that thing from there !
I Also watched the two Movies,Fire Walk with me and The Missing pieces, The Movie are really different from the the TV show, like It doesn’t have space for comedy into it so the Movie is really depressing,You already know what is gonna happen, but even so !! after watching that I watched the Missing Pieces in a vain hope to see if anything that I saw later would make more sense ! Guess what, It Didn’t !! The Missing Pieces is all the scenes that didn’t make to the movie,it also have the scene of the meeting in the Convenience store and the scene with Phillip separated of which other, that for some reasons Lynch decide to put them together to make even less sense !! does that mean that it make sense now ! I Guess !?
Season 3 was incredible, if I was not terrified I would be laughing my ass off, but after 18 hours of pure surreal stuff did i Understand anything of it, mostly of it no, I saw some theories and it make me fells stupid ! Because there is this whole other thing happen and I didn’t even notice, “I’m a idiot for not noticing that early” I said to my self, and I saw some other theory about how this things that seen out of place and weird are in fact critics to state of America. When I finally saw the ending I was not expecting anything different, I wasn’t expecting to end on a good way, every season didn’t end with a happy ending, so this one should be the same ! What i find incredible was the number of people trying to figured out the meaning behind the ending in a number of way’s, but like It doesn’t matter if you watch all episodes at the same time, you not gonna find anything, the only way to figured out is to Interpreted everything you see and figured out how that work !! You have to think about you saw, But if can’t do that, what are doing watching this then ??
Big Mouth (Season 1)
I Got interested in this after seeing the two teaser, the first one I laugh once, and the second, that was the ending of the second episode, sold me into it. I find it really funny at some parts and not funny at all in others, all that Thing with Jay and his Pillow I think that was the most surreal stuff that I have seen in years !! even more surreal then Twin Peaks. Maya Rudolph was The Hormone Monstress is the high point of this show, she give a lot Charm to the character. A Lot of people didn’t like this show because it was to offensive for then and too ugly !! But like, all this cartoon show for adults are all really ugly !! so like, so what ??
Mindhunter (Season 1)
I Like a lot of crime investigative stuff, and like most of the show even through there is somethings that kinda seen like they go no where, all that stuff with the tickling, I Though it go to something bigger but it didn’t !! I Though that they will go back to the first case they reject and solve it, but I guess that would be a think for season two. I Like how they handle the arc of the Mindhunter, this whole thing of him being this ambitious agent that want to discovery a new method of investigation and becoming this self centre asshole that thinks that he his the fucking most ! Now that is a Grow of a Character !!
American Vandal (Season 1)
The whole part of the humor of this show kinda feel flat for me, but the investigation stuff is way more engaging, I like how fluid the whole investigation process how they going finding out how everyone in this school have some dirt in then and how that later affect them ! in the end they come to a solution to get the asshole that was false accused set free, but later he get in jail again because he’s just a asshole, But they don’t solve the mystery,Who Draw the dicks ?? My Guess is that was the History teacher, the cool dude that bad mouth the other teacher, I think because the way he storm out of a scene they show in the last episode.
Inuyashiki (3 Episodes)
I already have made fun of the two first episodes of this anime, I was reluctant to continue watching this, after the third episode I was done with this, basically what happen in it is a reminder that Bad guy is bad and good guy is good Nothing else happens, the characters does’t haven anything to them they have no charm or anything, they are this bland person with no expression, I guess that they faces never change, they have the same face every time !! I was really expecting something more out of this !! I Guess that I don’t have the age to watch this animes anymore,I can’t go back be a thirteen old again !!
Genocyber (5 Episodes)
This is some old cult anime stuff, ultra violent and really nonsensical, and some how can be was better any of this other animes that I have watched, is there a lot of more effort put into it by the way,it was kinda fun to watch this and see the stuff happening and just shout to the screen “What ?? Why ?” it made me care that’s the important thing, also the soundtrack is good,is probably the best thing out of it !!
Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency (Season 2)
Is kinda sad talk about this, since the show was cancelled, But even so,I don’t have enjoyed this season as more then the first one, It was funny and all,but the whole fantasy world don’t have got me, and this whole another plot of Dirk trying to be a normal Detective didn’t land well for me.I Think that the Third Season out have turn out to be great, also this thing of turning that Computer guy into the antagonist was kinda surprising and out the nowhere !! Also The Creator of the Show Max Landis was accused of Sexual harassment recently, Guess that’s way the show was cancelled !!
The Young Pope (Season 1 ??)
From all the shows here, this is the one that got the best cinematography of them all !! really stunning photography, Jude Law give a incredible performance in this show,I Guess that i never seen anything else with him,But anyway he’s just awesome ! They gave him a bunch of huge speech to him, so there are some incredible long scene of Jude Law talking about how his character is awesome and can do anything ! also I was kinda confused watching, the initial speech that he give on his dream confused me when he was taking decision that are the opposite from early, I was thinking that he was just pretending to be a huge asshole when in fact he is a huge asshole !! but also sometimes not a total jackass and by the end he have some kind of redemption ! that I don’t understand if they want to make a Season 2 out of this, the whole story of Jude Law is done what more can you go far from this ? But if they wanna do it I’m Fine with this !
Dark (Season 1)
My Second favorite show of the year, I Like everything about it,the story, the photography.the music, it’s really well put together, a lot people compared this to Stranger Things, and it’s nothing like it ! Stranger Things is this little light harder show that funny and colorful and Dark it’s just Depressing, It’s this show that nothing is gonna go well and it’s not go end in a happy way, The only problem that I got is that I don’t remember any of the names of the characters I Only know the name of the main kid with the yellow jacket that is Jonas. I’m looking forward to the next Season, the show leave a lot of question open, and I wanna know who is going to be our real protagonist !! Also The Director of this show Baran Bo Odar,is the director of one of the worst movies of this year called Sleepless, which I find weird since this show is so good.
Stranger Things 2 (Why The Two ? Season 2)
Another Show That I don’t think it make it up for the last one, I not part of the cult of adoration of this serie, but I like it I Think there are good and fun to watch and not this Grater masterpiece that people make up to believe. I felt that the some of the same stuff that happened in the last season is happening again in this, Hysterical Mom is more Hysterical, let’s trash Winona Ryder House in some way ! Friends are not friends anymore and get back being friends !! the rest of it was just ok, they the asshole from the last season not be a asshole anymore, guess I Kinda like him now, which make four of the characters that I like in this show,Him,Dustin, the new Hellboy man and Eleven. I Guess that they could’t stretch this for one more Season, but they did !! What gonna happen in the next season ?! Did they gonna turn the asshole of this season into not a asshole and make him have a affair with the mom of the sour face kid ?! is Dustin gonna have more adventures with the non-asshole cool guy ?! Winona Ryder is goona stop being Hysterical ?! (probably no !) Also they kinda ruined Dustin Character in this season, they turning him into fat kid slop comic relief, I don’t remember him being like that In the last season ?!
Punisher (Season 1)
The last Show that I watch this year, I enjoyed watching, even trough I Don’t think it had the among of shooting that I wanted to have ! From all this netflix super heroes show’s I only watched this,Jessica Jones and Daredevil,I Really don’t care about the rest, But This show is on pair with Jessica Jones in mine opinion.I don’t know much about The Punisher comics so can’t comment on anything of this part ! I Think that Jon Bernthal is great actor, he really give a good performance making the Punisher into this psycho maniac that want to kill people ! He have great Gutural Scream ! I saw video about Sicario and how Dennis Villanueve put this whole section of in the movie so he could Film Jon acting !! Like he is really good, I Think that he is the perfect Candidate to be a New rambo, If someone ever wanna do a new type of Rambo Movie he would be great there !! shooting people and screaming at the same time !

Climate and the Money Trail Climate. Now who wudda thought. The very mega-corporations and mega-billionaires behind the globalization of the world economy over recent decades, whose pursuit of shareholder value and cost reduction who have wreaked so much damage to our environment both in the industrial world and in the under-developed economies of Africa, Asia, Latin America, are the leading backers of the “grass roots” decarbonization movement from Sweden to Germany to the USA and beyond. Is it pangs of guilty conscience, or could it be a deeper agenda of the financialization of the very air we breathe and more? Whatever one may believe about the dangers of CO2 and risks of global warming creating a global catastrophe of 1.5 to 2 degree Celsius average temperature rise in the next roughly 12 years, it is worth noting who is promoting the current flood of propaganda and climate activism. Green Finance Several years before Al Gore and others decided to use a young Swedish school girl to be the poster child for climate action urgency, or in the USA the call of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for a complete reorganization of the economy around a Green New Deal, the giants of finance began devising schemes for steering hundreds of billions of future funds to investments in often worthless “climate” companies. In 2013 after years of careful preparation, a Swedish real estate company, Vasakronan, issued the first corporate “Green Bond.” They were followed by others including Apple, SNCF and the major French bank Credit Agricole. In November 2013 Elon Musk’s problem-riddled Tesla Energy issued the first solar asset-backed security. Today according to something called the Climate Bonds Initiative, more than $500 billion in such Green Bonds are outstanding. The creators of the bond idea state their aim is to win over a major share of the $45 trillion of assets under management globally which have made nominal commitment to invest in “climate friendly” projects. Bonnie Prince Charles, future UK Monarch, along with the Bank of England and City of London finance have promoted “green financial instruments,” led by Green Bonds, to redirect pension plans and mutual funds towards green projects. A key player in the linking of world financial institutions with the Green Agenda is outgoing Bank of England head Mark Carney. In December 2015, the Bank for International Settlements’ Financial Stability Board (FSB), chaired then by Carney, created the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD), to advise “investors, lenders and insurance about climate related risks.” That was certainly a bizarre focus for world central bankers. In 2016 the TCFD along with the City of London Corporation and the UK Government initiated the Green Finance Initiative, aiming to channel trillions of dollars to “green” investments. The central bankers of the FSB nominated 31 people to form the TCFD. Chaired by billionaire Michael Bloomberg of the financial wire, it includes key people from JP MorganChase; from BlackRock–one of the world’s biggest asset managers with almost $7 trillion; Barclays Bank; HSBC, the London-Hong Kong bank repeatedly fined for laundering drug and other black funds; Swiss Re, the world’s second largest reinsurance; China’s ICBC bank; Tata Steel, ENI oil, Dow Chemical, mining giant BHP Billington and David Blood of Al Gore’s Generation Investment LLC. In effect it seems the foxes are writing the rules for the new Green Hen House. Bank of England’s Carney was also a key actor in efforts to make the City of London into the financial center of global Green Finance. The outgoing UK Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond, in July 2019 released a White Paper, “Green Finance Strategy: Transforming Finance for a Greener Future.” The paper states, “One of the most influential initiatives to emerge is the Financial Stability Board’s private sector Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), supported by Mark Carney and chaired by Michael Bloomberg. This has been endorsed by institutions representing $118 trillion of assets globally.” There seems to be a plan here. The plan is the financialization of the entire world economy using fear of an end of world scenario to reach arbitrary aims such as “net-zero greenhouse gas emissions.” Goldman Sachs Key Actor The omnipresent Wall Street bank, Goldman Sachs, which spawned among others ECB outgoing President Mario Draghi and Bank of England head Carney, has just unveiled the first global index of top-ranking environmental stocks, done along with the London-based CDP, formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project. The CDP, notably, is financed by investors such as HSBC, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, American International Group, and State Street Corp. The new index, called CDP Environment EW and CDP Eurozone EW, aims to lure investment funds, state pension systems such as the CalPERS (the California Public Employees’ Retirement System) and CalSTRS (the California State Teachers’ Retirement System) with a combined $600+ billion in assets, to invest in their carefully chosen targets. Top rated companies in the index include Alphabet which owns Google, Microsoft, ING Group, Diageo, Philips, Danone and, conveniently, Goldman Sachs. Enter Greta, AOC and Co. At this point events take on a cynical turn as we are confronted with wildly popular, heavily promoted climate activists such as Sweden’s Greta Thunberg or New York’s 29-year-old Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Green New Deal. However sincere these activists may be, there is a well-oiled financial machine behind promoting them for gain. Greta Thunberg is part of a well-connected network tied to the organization of Al Gore who is being cynically and professionally marketed and used by such agencies as the UN, the EU Commission and the financial interests behind the present climate agenda. As Canadian researcher and climate activist, Cory Morningstar, documents in an excellent series of posts, young Greta is working with a well-knit network that is tied to US climate investor and enormously wealthy climate profiteer, Al Gore, chairman of Generation Investment group. Gore’s partner, ex-Goldman Sachs official David Blood as noted earlier, is a member of the BIS-created TCFD. Greta Thunberg along with her 17-year-old US climate friend, Jamie Margolin, were both listed as “special youth advisor and trustee” of the Swedish We Don’t Have Time NGO, founded by its CEO Ingmar Rentzhog. Rentzhog is a member of Al Gore’s Climate Reality Organization Leaders, and part of the European Climate Policy Task Force. He was trained in March 2017 by Al Gore in Denver, and again in June 2018, in Berlin. Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project is a partner of We Don’t Have Time. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), who made a huge splash in her first days in the US Congress for unveiling a “Green New Deal” to completely reorganize the US economy at a cost of perhaps $100 trillion, is also not without skilled guidance. AOC has openly admitted that she ran for Congress at the urging of a group called Justice Democrats. She told one interviewer, “I wouldn’t be running if it wasn’t for the support of Justice Democrats and Brand New Congress. Umm, in fact it was it was these organizations, it was JD and it was Brand New Congress as well, that both, that asked me to run in the first place. They’re the ones that called me a year and a half ago…” Now, as Congresswoman, AOC’s advisers include Justice Democrats co-founder, Zack Exley. Exley was an Open Society Fellow and got funds from among others the Open Society Foundations and Ford Foundation to create a predecessor to Justice Democrats to recruit select candidates for office. The Real Agenda is Economic The links between the world’s largest financial groups, central banks and global corporations to the current push for a radical climate strategy to abandon the fossil fuel economy in favor of a vague, unexplained Green economy, it seems, is less about genuine concern to make our planet a clean and healthy environment to live. Rather it is an agenda, intimately tied to the UN Agenda 2030 for “sustainable” economy, and to developing literally trillions of dollars in new wealth for the global banks and financial giants who constitute the real powers that be. In February 2019 following a speech to the EU Commission in Brussels by Greta Thunberg, then-EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, after gallantly kissing Greta’s hand, appeared to be moved to real action. He told Greta and the press that the EU should spend hundreds of billions of euros combating climate change during the next 10 years. Juncker proposed that between 2021 to 2027, “every fourth euro spent within the EU budget go toward action to mitigate climate change.” What the sly Juncker did not say was that the decision had nothing to do with the young Swedish activist’s plea. It had been made in conjunction with the World Bank a full year before in September 26, 2018 at the One Planet Summit, along with the World Bank, Bloomberg Foundations, the World Economic Forum and others. Juncker had cleverly used the media attention given the young Swede to promote his climate agenda. On October 17, 2018, days following the EU agreement at the One Planet Summit, Juncker’s EU signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Breakthrough Energy-Europe in which member corporations of Breakthrough Energy-Europe will have preferential access to any funding. The members of Breakthrough Energy include Virgin Air’s Richard Branson, Bill Gates, Alibaba’s Jack Ma, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, HRH Prince Al-waleed bin Talal, Bridgewater Associates’ Ray Dalio; Julian Robertson of hedge fund giant, Tiger Management; David Rubenstein, founder Carlyle Group; George Soros, Chairman Soros Fund Management LLC; Masayoshi Son, founder Softbank, Japan. Make no mistake. When the most influential multinational corporations, the world’s largest institutional investors including BlackRock and Goldman Sachs, the UN, the World Bank, the Bank of England and other central banks of the BIS line up behind the financing of a so-called green Agenda, call it Green New Deal or what, it is time to look behind the surface of public climate activist campaigns to the actual agenda. The picture that emerges is the attempted financial reorganization of the world economy using climate, something the sun and its energy have orders of magnitude more to do with than mankind ever could—to try to convince us ordinary folk to make untold sacrifice to “save our planet.” Back in 2010 the head of Working Group 3 of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Dr Otmar Edenhofer, told an interviewer, “…one must say clearly that we redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy. One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with environmental policy anymore, with problems such as deforestation or the ozone hole.” Since then the economic policy strategy has become far more developed.

Brief rundown on all the Big Three kids?
Caleb Dawson: (c/p) Our 20 year old son of Zeus, head counselor of cabin 1. He’s been in a love triangle with Gideon and Jamie, accidently sent to the infirmary by Bella, had trouble controlling his siblings during a Cabin 1 training session and I am not sure who he’s dating right now because he’s kissing all the guys. He’s also adorable with baby Emma.
Trenton Williams: Our 18 year old son of Zeus. Has trouble controlling his powers sometimes and also really liked being the baby of the Zeus cabin till Mykala came along. In a relationship with Ethan, son of Eros.
Skyegirl Sinworth: Our 18 year old daughter of Zeus. Future president of the United States. Abstinent till she gets married. Fun, quirky, energetic and loving. She’s basically queen on the Zeus cabin.
Mathias Kalenburg: Our 20 year old son of Zeus. You probably wouldn’t know it just looking at him but he’s the resident dork of cabin 1. Funny, nice and your typical ray of sunshine.
Mykala Galanis: Our 13 year old daughter of Zeus. The tiny princess of cabin 1. She’s absolutely adorable and loveable but she’s also a daughter of Zeus so she’d got a little bit of wild side in her as well. She’s curious, enthusiastic but probably won’t take your shit.
Mikhail Covington: Our 20 year old son of Zeus. Hot but he’s more like a cloudy sky than a sunny day. A bit of a temper and nots much patience but he’s funny and nice if you get to know him. Ambitious, too. Ex boyfriend of Erik Darton.
Isabella Kemmerich: (c/p) Our 20 year old daughter of Poseidon, head counselor of cabin 3. Your typical mom!friend who loves little kids. Very devoted to her siblings. Best friend with James Emerson, son of Hermes and old flame of Bartholomew Abrams, son of Eros. Has a hard time controlling her powers when she uses them to the maximum. Was visited by Poseidon on her 20th birthday and given a magical conch shell that she doesn’t know what to use for yet.
Mallory Jensen: Our 15 year old daughter of Poseidon. Little mermaid princess of cabin 3. She’s got a leg disability but it won’t stop her from being the fun loving person she is. Avid swimmer and an animal lover. Girlfriend of Caspian Evans, son of Cybele. You could say they consider themselves soulmates.
Calder Emerson: Our 24 year old son of Poseidon. Oldest guy in cabin 3 with a troubled past. His mother drowned and he got so mad and disrespectful towards his father, that Poseidon punished for a few years of not being able to enter the water. After making it up to his father recently, he can now do so.
Jack Gonzales: Our 22 year old son of Poseidon. Nice, patient and very protective older brother. Living life pretty well right now. He might start dating Soleila Thayer, who knows?
Josiah Oliver: Our 22 year old son of Poseidon. Fun, carefree, and pretty gorgeous. Kinda sorta seems like a ladies man from what I’ve seen. Can be responsible though.
Emilia O’Malley: (c/p) Our 18 year old daughter of Hades, head counselor of cabin 13. Wants to live a normal life. Blunt and moody but has a very caring side. Had a fight with a hunter of Artemis. Had a big relationship with Carter of the Aphrodite cabin and is now heartbroken.
Valerie St. Claire: Our 18 year old daughter of Hades. Lived on a farm before camp. Has had a ton of boy trouble in the past but she seems to be getting over that streak lately. Also had a fight with her sister, Emilia, but they are also over that. All in all, she seems to be doing a lot better in life and is probably going places.
Seth Glendower: Our 20 year old son of Hades. Descendent of the last Prince of Wales but that’s where the fanciness stops. His ex girlfriend died and so he seems to have a dark and broody past but he’s a really nice guy. Blunt. Pretty romantic.
Aeron Poindexter: Our 14 year old son of Hades. Our only other very official royal after Princess Evelyn. His grandfather is the king of Norway which makes him a prince. He’s not the most fluent in english but he’s still good. Good hearted and polite kid.
Emma Griffin: You did say all the big three kids… This one is the tiniest one - only a few weeks old and born to Aleiya Griffin, daughter of Psyche and Hades. Doesn’t like bright things but loves listening to people sing, crying when hungry and being downright adorable. Only Hades kid not living in cabin 13 because she lives with her mother in the Psyche cabin.

Month in Review // Christmas is Over Thank Fuck – December
Christmas is officially done and dusted and honestly, I am so fucking thankful.
I loved Christmas day but the days leading up to Christmas? I’m good thanks, can I get Christmas without them next year?
Between the chaos that is Christmas and the extra shifts at work (plus a month-long convoluted promotion) and no longer having a best friend, because of course, I am ready to disappear for at least a year.
Sadly I can’t do that so here we are to discuss my month!
December
Month’s TBR
I didn’t set one!
Read

│★★★│Read Dec 18│
│ This was fine??? A little boring, but I actually didn’t mind the MC and was surprised that I got through it? Maybe only having to read it in 30 minutes spurts while I was exercising did this book, and me, a favour.
│The Monsters We Deserve│Marcus Sedgewick │
│
│★★★│Read Dec 27│ This was confusing but I liked it??? Convinced me to read Frankenstein though!
Book of the Month
│To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before│To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before│Jenny Han│

│★★★★│Read Dec 26│
│ This was so stinking cute! I think I might like the film a little better but this was still a very good read and I look forward to the rest of the books in the series!
Look at all those books.
Listen, December was tough, take pity on me, please.

I actually got through Charmed very quickly and I have no idea how???
All Stars 4 has only just started but I’m already up to date!
I kind of watched Wreck-It Ralph and by kind of I put it on and sort of paid attention. Oops.
I was planning on seeing Ralph breaks the internet with my nephews but they want to see Bumblebee instead so I guess I’ll watch it next month!
I didn’t watch Ratatouille because I didn’t end up having a movie day with my (now ex?) best friend.
And I don’t think I’ve watched any Buzzfeed Unsolved but I don’t think there has been any new episodes?

Month’s Goals
Try and post 4 times a week like I have been!
I wanna try audiobooks again???
No Borrowing library books unless they’re holds or audiobooks
Continue going on walks 4-5 times a week. 3 at the very least!
Keep up with Bullet Journal because it actually helps me get shit done and be less of a mess.
Try not to eat loads of takeaway, even though I’m gonna be super busy and tired, unless unavoidable.
Make one of Chrissy Teigen’s recipes because they look Bomb af
I mostly kept up with my blogging schedule!
I didn’t find an audiobook I wanted to read available from my library so I just didn’t listen to any. Plus I’m annoyed at myself because Audible had like a 3 months free trial thing happening and I forgot to sign up until the day after the promotion ended. Also from what I hear the American Audible is better so I don’t know if maybe I should sign up for that one?? I know when I was signed up, I was with the UK one because it was better but I don’t know if they let you do that anymore? If anyone can help me I’d really appreciate it! Also, $17 a month is just a lot of month to me.
I haven’t been to the library unless it was to return books!
I realised that the Bullet Journaling gives me too much power! Here’s the thing, I like things to be customisable because I work out what I want and get angry when I can’t do things that way. Unfortunately, I think Bullet Journals are too customisable for me and isn’t really working?? I don’t know. I’m going to look into other diaries for the new year and see if I can find something that fits me better.
I did eat more takeaway than last month so that’s not great but I also didn’t eat more than I used to so that’s good and what I did eat of it were mostly small things. Still not great though!
I’m trying to make @chrissyteigen’s Chicken Pot Pie recipe and I’ve burnt the crust, it’s taking me ages, my arm is sore, everything is in American measurements, I thought I’d get it done in an hour like an idiot who doesn’t read recipes through properly and I wanna die.

I Did Things
I went to the movies with my mum twice this month!
I also went to the movies with my sister which was good! Then we came home and watched Christmas movies together and things got a little emotional and there was a little miscommunication but we worked it out and I’m hoping that we spend some more time together in the coming weeks.
My sister and I both don’t really have a whole lot of people we’re close to. We’re introverts but we also craving some socialising to a point so I think it’ll be good to have us spend some time together. It would also be nice to grow closer to her because I know we both are in need of people we can trust and talk to openly.
My mum and I babysat my Nephew this month as well and it was so much fun. He’s such an easy baby! Literally you can sit him on the couch and he’ll bounce himself off the back of the lounge for hours. He put himself to sleep doing it. Twice.
He’s very cute!
Uhhhh I Maybe No Longer Have A Best Friend?
Long story short I told my best friend of over 10 years that I was officially and legally changing my name for Christmas (it was never a secret that I wanted to change it, she’s known for years) and she didn’t react well at all.
I was firm and told her that if she wanted to continue in my life she had to respect me, and that includes respecting my name and be prepared for big changes ahead.
I’ve given her space to process and decide but haven’t heard from her since so I don’t know, it’s a bit up in the air but I’m handling it surprisingly well so maybe it’s a sign that us parting is for the best???
I don’t want to lose her, but I won’t lose myself to keep her. I won’t sacrifice pieces of myself for the sake of others anymore. All that does is validate toxic behaviour and cost me my health and happiness.
She was kind of my only actual real-life friend who I speak with outside of work so uh good thing I’m too busy to feel lonely.
But I’m super grateful for the people I’ve met through the book community, having this blog and talking to you all reminds me that I’m not really alone. I just have to reach out to people which is, um…not easy for me but I’m trying to work on it.
I hope y’all had a great month to end 2018 on!
What did you do this month? What did you read? What did you watch? What posts did you write that you’re super proud of?

Industry Insider: Rachael Cain of Trax Records Shares Her Secrets of Success
We've got a little bit of a massive industry insider today for our amazing readers. We sat down with Rachael Cain, aka Screamin’ Rachael, who's the President and Co-founder of legendary Chicago house label, Trax Records.
Trax is the premeire original house label, established first in 1984 and the place where some of today's biggest legends started releasing their work, including Frankie Knuckles, Marshall Jefferson, Larry Heard, Jamie Principle, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Robert Owens, DJ Pierre, Sterling Void and many others. In fact, the label is so influential that i-D magazine once claimed there would be no genre definitions like "‘Jack’, ‘Acid’ and ‘House’" without the esteemed label.
We sat down with the incredible legend to learn more about being surviving the music business through the years!
How did you start your career in the electronic music business?
I started out as a punk rocker who just happened to do illegal all ages parties at the Space Place in Chicago with my band Screamin’ Rachael and Remote. We were down the street from Frankie Knuckles “Warehouse” and very near to Ron Hardy’s "Music Box”. Even though we were in close proximity to them at the time, the city was quite segregated but these underground all ages shows brought kids from all different backgrounds and neighborhoods together. I was a disco sucks person and as a kid historically “The Disco Demolition” really put that sound to death in my city and I was glad because I regarded it as over produced crap! Interestingly enough kids from Frankie and Ron’s party made it to Space Place where I met Jesse Saunders and Vince Lawrence. They convinced me to sing this song “Fantasy", though it wasn’t my style. “Fantasy" was actually the first recorded house record played on Radio. “On and On” was the first on wax though…When I heard Farley Jackmaster Funk of the Hot Mix Five play “Fantasy" on the air it was a revelation, and then when Frankie played it at the club I was hooked by the power the music had over the people… My life was changed forever. And besides House wasn’t disco, in fact it had a lot in common with the stripped down raw punk I loved, so I became a House Head for life!
What is the best part of the business?
The best part of the business is how it comes together as a community and changes people’s lives around the world with music. House music is much more than business to me because it erases the differences between people on the dancefloor. There is a power to unify that I experience every time I DJ. Like for instance when I played on the Trax Tour at Fauna Primavera in Chile. There are no language or cultural barriers and the feeling is so incredible! The amount of love and respect that I experience is something money can’t buy! Also through the years the friends I’ve made around the world in the industry have totally supported my dreams and vision. We are just releasing the album “I Love NYC” which my friend Tyler Stone curated and all my long time New York Friends, Michael Musto, Johnny Dynell, Carmelo Carone, and lots of others donated tracks for, to benefit Youth Communication, an organization in Chicago, now going into its 40th year, dedicated to giving urban youth a voice. Trax started in Chicago when we were all kids so I feel a tremendous responsibility to give back and everybody on the album is there with me 100%. In fact, “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now” which is on the album, I did with Co-Still and Sinbad Wicked, Chicago Hip Hop royalty and ex-gang members, both who wanted to be a part of it. It’s their first House project and they still mentor Chicago teens in gang territory. I can’t explain in words how much I’ve gained from living this life through the sense of helping and inspiring others, with like-minded friends who mean everything to me…
What are the biggest challenges?
The biggest challenges in the industry is the industry itself, especially in view of how rapidly everything is changing, including new laws every day! My company was one of the first to go digital and signed with a small company called CDuctive which was later bought by Universal and became eMusic. At the time we could still sell CD’s and were selling large quantities of vinyl independently of them. Thank God I saw the writing on the wall! Many companies went bankrupt soon after because it took years to catch up and actually be able to support a business that way. Another really great challenge is getting together a great team. You need a great distributer, great publishers, a great booking agency. And then there are people who only look for the glamour. YOU NEED PEOPLE WITH VISION WHO BELIEVE IN YOUR MISSION. Start small - when I was reorganizing I only had 2 people, Jorge and Big Mark. Avoid people who are full of themselves and have no idea how much work it takes and how patient you must be to succeed. These days streaming is taking over and many artists know how difficult it is to live on the small amount of pennies made that way… Keep evolving and looking for what is coming up next. I’m working with a company on a very new concept, so as soon as that happens there may be another exciting form of revenue for the music industry. There is also such a large glut of music out there so many people don’t know where to start. I am so grateful to have built a brand people trust and love enough to let us expand with great new ideas and sounds like the Hip House cut “Some Other Time” and the experimental “Athon”. Its challenging but never rest on your laurels. Keep evolving.
What career advice would you recommend to someone else wanting to get into the industry?
The career advice I would give someone starting off is do it for the right reasons. If you are going into this to be a superstar DJ or for the fame and riches, things are not like back in the day where big advance checks were cut. Do this because you love music and could not see yourself doing anything else. Be prepared to work long and hard, sometimes for little or no money. Get an internship somewhere that you believe in and work your ass off to prove yourself. No one will hire you without experience so break in however you can. Back in the day DJ’s would carry crates and assist other DJ’s to learn. This is not a business for the meek sometimes you have to push your way in but do it politely and with respect. Do not think one week you’re an intern and next you’re a music mogul. Be prepared to pay serious dues. Also learn as much about every phase of the industry you can. From performing, to cataloging, social media, setting up dates, recording, anything you can do to help. Nothing should be too large or small to at least give your best shot. I’ve swept floors, but I’ve also performed for hundreds of thousands. I did not get here easily and neither will you… Sure there are those one in the million stories but most of them don’t have staying power because when all is said and done to be really successful you must learn to wear many hats.
As the electronic music industry continues to grow, what do you think the secrets to longevity in this business will be?
The secret to longevity is to be yourself, do what you believe and don’t let others discourage you. You must believe with your whole heart in everything you do. People used to tell me all the music from Trax sucked. In fact many bigwigs said we would never make it and they laughed at us. To this day I have my detractors because as I keep expanding what I’m working on and evolving I still hear never, no how and no way. That’s total bullshit, the ability to believe, change and learn are our strongest assets. When they say forget it, I say Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now! So step up to the dance floor or step out of the way. Maybe some people would advise you to go corporate, but me NEVER!
Did you start off as a fan of electronic music and then became involved on the business side, or did business bring you into the electronic music world? Describe that process.
My involvement in the electronic music business was an evolutionary progress. I was always very creative for as long as I can remember singing, acting, painting, writing, dancing, and basically anything involving the freedom that creativity affords you. I believe all of it has served me very well in my journey into the business. I don’t think you can be a success at anything unless you understand it and enjoy it. Once I felt the power of House music in Chicago and began working with DJ’s and producers in studios, I found my home. When I moved to New York for my contract with Streetwise Records it was there that I meet Russell Simmons, Gene McFadden, Rick Rubin, Nile Rogers and others who intrigued me. I saw that there was a much bigger picture and I wanted to be a part of that. Everything really changed however when I met Sylvia Robinson at Sugarhill Records. Sylvia did it all, from performing and writing to being the first person to bring Hip Hop to the world. I learned from her and told myself that one day I would do the same for House music. She made me realize that I didn’t have to give up DJing, writing, singing and my creative side to take House music to the world and run a label.
What does electronic music mean to you?
I feel that my generation, the House music generation was the first to be computer and machine driven. Though we sometimes used live instruments machines like the Roland 303, and the 909 kick drum, and even the way we used synthesizers and keyboards to create sounds was a new approach. I remember when I created my track “Ecstasy". I send everyone away and just embraced the equipment myself It was a breakthrough for me. It was not punk or live. I recently visited East West Studio in LA where Sinatra and many had recorded. The manager reminded me that today’s music was all numbers 0’s and 1’s but still there is such warmth and magic in it! House music is my life! Though some may disagree with me I believe it is the mother of the entire movement…
What cities/regions do you think electronic dance music is best thriving?
As far as regions and cities where the music is thriving, that’s a tough question. It all depends on what you consider to be important. I see the largest shows and most appreciative crowds in Europe. Cities like Paris, Berlin, Ibiza, Amsterdam of course… But I believe it is thriving in New York, Chicago, small town America, and even villages everywhere. It’s the youth culture of today! Kids are making their own music everywhere, and they are thriving.
If you weren’t in the music biz, what would you be doing?
If I was not in the music business I would still be working in a creative field. I love movies and television. Whatever I do it will be something that brings joy to people. Making people smile, and giving them a time to forget their problems, and unite them together. I would also love to work with teens. They seem to be the most at risk group, so giving them hope through creativity and mentorship means a lot to me.
Where do you see the most opportunity in the EDM industry (i.e. Music, experience, nightclubs, behind the scenes, etc) and why?
Where I see the most opportunity in the industry is a very tough question. If you advise a performer that he will do better behind the scenes it won’t work because he’ll be miserable. I work with many interns from colleges who are in the process of finding themselves. I advise learning as much about every phase as possible to see what it is that interests you. One place that I do see a need for is online promotion and SEO. Every label is looking for people who can help with that. The reason it’s needed is that it is still a relatively new frontier. Ultimately though you must be great at what you do to succeed. Therefore, you must love it, live it and breathe it. I’ve seen people stuck on one part of the industry but by getting the chance to try different things sometimes they change their course completely. I’ll just use the old adage here; “Opportunity is what you make it”.
