Hello!! Soo the most interesting part of my day today is that I got my pants caught on something which ripped my pants so it gave me an idea of what would each of the Lin Kuei brothers would do if their girlfriend/wife approached the embarrassment that their pants were ripped? 😂😂
Apple Bottom Jeans - Lin Kuei x fem!reader (headcanons)
in which you rip your pants in front of each of the boys
a/n: HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN
ship[s]: bi han, tomas & kuai liang x fem!reader
warning(s): ripped pants, post-story kanon
Bi Han
- i genuinely believe he would be the one laughing out loud. why? have you seen him?
- if it takes a lot for him to give praises, i believe it takes a lot more for him to laugh- this seals the deal
- "Bi Han! Help!" you'd cry out, and he'd come running to find your knees touching each other as they face inwards. His eyes would find your hands covering the huge rip on your bum, and your pretty, cotton, everyday panties peeking through
- he'd then trail to the bits of thread that come off your pants, then to the nail that holds the rest of the fabric that came off your butt
- i think he'd have a comic book moment. the moment where the character looks at the other character, back to the problem, then back to the character
- Bi Han would have the deepest, yet whole-hearted laugh of all his brothers. you want to be mad at him, really, you do. how can you with the sound of his timbre voice reverberating in your body with joy? you'd roll your eyes for sure, chuckling with him too
- i think it would make you sad, though. not the situation you were in, but the fact Bi Han doesn't laugh often. not when his only family has left him, and you're the only thing he has left from that bygone time
- after the laugh, though, he'd definitely scold you. something along the lines of "i told you that you wore those bottoms out", or "you missed an opportunity to replace them"
- if you, reader, don't care about the pants, he'd listen to you and toss them out in a heartbeat. if you did like those pants, he'd do his best to get a servant to fix them
- worst case scenario is that he'd have to find the exact brand of pants you wore
- still, he'd go great lengths to cover you up so you'd have some dignity left. he'd take off that outer layer of his uniform and drape it over you, and it'd do the job well because he's two heads taller than you
- if you try to remind him that he laughed, he'd literally deny it til his death
- still, even as he denies it all, you know he's thinking about it when he looks away from you and his left eyebrow (yes, you studied his facial expressions) is quirked up roughly ten degrees
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tomas
- he'd be the most flustered out of the three
- raised in cultures that regard women to a high standard (slavic traditions of the Czech Republic and the Lin Kuei), he'd put you first for sure. not without feeling embarrassed, if not more, for you
- "Tomas!" you screech from your shared room of Harumi's compound. "Tomas, you get here this instant!"
- he'd show up from a fissure of smoke, face scrunched up in worry as he assesses the situation. you're panicked, and he needs to remain calm or else you'll panic more
- he'd actually find the piece of fabric that ripped off. it'd probably be hooked on a splintered piece of wood from the side-wall of the tatami door. taking it, he'd foolishly look around your bum and leg area to find the rip
- "Hey!" you'd giggle-screech. "Don't be a perv!"
- i think Tomas would be very sad and borderline offended you'd think of him like that. he'd give you a look, that's for sure, and he'd continue to quietly assess your circumstance
- only when he finds the little frills of your lacy undies will he turn the deepest shade of pink possible on the human body. he'd flail around like a fish out of water, stuttering and finding something to cover you
- he'd drape you in a blanket, the one on your bed. then he'd pick you up and toss you right back into the pillowy mattress. he'd rush out and find one of Harumi's handmaidens (or Harumi herself) and discreetly tell her about the situation
- your replacement clothes for the meanwhile would be a kimono, similar to Harumi's. as you'd get changed, Tomas doesn't look at you one bit
- "I am ashamed to have looked..." Tomas pouts from behind the dressing screen. "I apologize, feather..."
- even as he tries to get you new pants, he can't help but think about the situation he was in. he would associate those specific pants to that situation- always
- and unlike Bi Han, you'd hold this shit over his head until the day he dies
- you'd egg him like "remember when my pants ripped and you were hiding from me?" or "remember when you threw me into bed because of my pants?"
- yeah, he would be the one more embarrassed than you. he wouldn't be living it down, either, until the day he died
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kuai Liang
- Kuai might be the most normal in terms of reaction, unfortunately. not without a good chuckle, though
- "Kuai Liang! A little help here, please!" you'd call for him from the living room of Harumi's compound. he'd rush to you almost instantly, definitely wondering why you remain sitting there when there was nothing or no one to be hosted
- "You are just... sitting..." Kuai Liang obviously notes. So much for a seasoned warrior, then again you were really just sitting
- it isn't until he walks behind you a bit, realizing that there is a reason why you're not getting up
- he'd see your hands failing to cover a hole that was right over the middle of your pants
- then, he'd see the bit of fabric that's being held by a splinter in the wooden floor of the room. he'd catch a glimpse of your panties, the color not all too difficult to miss
- "Do you think we can salvage this?" you'd ask him. Kuai Liang would give it to you straight
- "I do not believe I can, dove..." Kuai Liang says softly, kissing your forehead as an additional apology
- this is probably the most awkward situation in your life. since the pants were stuck to the ground, and you didn't want to rip it anymore, Kuai Liang basically carries you out of your pants
- with the help of a handmaid that held your pants legs down, Kuai Liang carries you by your armpits as he gently guides you to shimmy, shake, and maneuver out of your pants
- he'd praise you, a lot. things like "good job" and "thank you for listening to me" or "you did a great job listening", it'd make you very happy despite the loss of a good piece of clothing
- Kuai Liang would also order you new pants. you didn't even get to mention it before Kuai Liang had sent another handmaiden out to a nearby village to find similar, if not, the exact same pants as the ones you ripped
- and the gentleman he is, he would not speak of this day ever again. however, every time he sees you in those pants, he will chuckle to himself
- so in reality, he was speaking about it, just nonverbally
=====================
so easy that i finished this in thirty minutes
also update! i got a new job and actually love it there. everyone is so kind and helps me out
also, i love the headcanon ideas you guys are giving me, keep it up! you might see more of those get published first before i do actual fics
see y'all in the next fic!

I don't really like endhawks and it's not so much because of the age gape or the fan/idol relationship (la brava and gentle have some age gape and bakudeku are the pure description of fanatization/idolization trope and I like both of those ships), but more because endeavor literally embodies what Hawks hate the most.
Hear me out on this one, they have cute interactions but for me the fact that Hawks stayed by endeavor's side even knowing what he did to his children is kinda out of character. I mean the whole thing why keigo wanted to be a hero was to help people and make them smile because he went through abusive behavior all his life. Endeavor do save people but doesn't make them smile, not directly anyway. Hawks wanted to help the new generation, but endeavor traumatized the generation he gave birth to. Hawks wanted to be free, but endeavor stole freedom from his children (at least until he becomes number 1 and shoto comes to UA).
I understand hawks forgiving and accepting endeavor even after what he did, because hawks is so optimistic that he wants to believe eveyone can change for the better, but I don't understand him staying by endeavor's side. I mean, how traumatic would it be to discover that your idol who saved you and gave you a dream to follow did the exact same things as the person who traumatized your childhood? I see some narrative problems here. Or maybe it's just that hawks is too optimistic for his own good.
The thing is, I think Hawks so desperately needed a symbol to give him hope that he didn't even try to look more profoundly into endeavor's mistakes. Like he tried so hard to convince himself. Here we can see that hawks says he could keep up with training and abuse by the commission because someone supported him, probably implying endeavor. But it wasn't even true, hawks just chose to idealize enji because he saved him, but enji didn't know hawks before metting him as a hero, so he couldn't actually support him in his dream. I know it's only metaphoric, but it does mean that Keigo just needed something, someone to hold onto because of all the suffering he went through. And he chose endeavor, who was the only person indirectly "caring" for him.
Now maybe it's because I adore Hawks and I hate endeavor (the man and his actions, not the way he's written), but I can't imagine them in a romantic relationship. How could Hawks give his trust and love to the exact same profile as his father? How could they live together without hawks remembering the abuse? I think that even enji himself wouldn't trust his own reactions and feelings, hunted by the past. "The past never dies", and it's true for everyone in this story.
Look how similar they are. Honestly I don't really understand horikoshi on this one because if he wanted to give enji a loyal sidekick, then why give Hawks an abusive father?
Or if horikoshi wanted to give us grumpy x playful duo, then do it with dabihawks? They had so much potential to be our favorite bickering duo, and their drama would've been so good if they both knew each other before touya's death, became close during hawks undercover mission and then went through a heartbreaking breakup during touya's reveal.
(look at them they could've been soo good as a grumpy x playful duo aah)
Instead, we got Hawks indirectly supporting the same abuse he went through and the destruction of dabihawks' potential with the biggest absence of interactions ever after the first war.
(Also I want to add that I respect everyone's opinion and I don't hate endhawks shippers at all! It's just my point of view on the ship, everyone is free to ship whoever they want if that stays legal 🙏)
Maybe I'm going too far into the analysis (someone stop me please I'm talking too much-), but I really think that endhawks couldn't work, for hawks as much as for enji. Now the interesting thing to ask would be : would dabihawks actually work in a romantic relationship? I guess we'll never know.
#hawks just needed someone to help him#his character is actually so tragic#i love him so much you don't understand#can i please rewrite mha ending for him#i love analysing dabihawks#my hero academia#mha#dabi and hawks#dabihawks#endeavor#bnha hawks#bnha#mha dabi#mha endeavor#mha enji#analysis#hawks#keigo takami#touya todoroki#enji todoroki#todoroki family#endeavor and hawks

Lovers Rock❤️🔥
Summary: The story of how you and Carl came to be with a time jump into Alexandria. It’s late at night and you're at your boyfriend Carls's house and he plays “Lovers Rock” by TV Girl
(I know TV Girl wasn't around the time that the show aired so just like pretend)
TW: Mention of death, blood, kissing, and cuddling, use of pet names?? (just incase)
(Carl Grimes x fem!reader)
You and Carl were what everyone considered "puppy love" or "best friends to lovers" trope. Before you and he had started to date you two were insanely close ever since the farm when the group was looking for Sophia but instead found you. Well they didn't exactly find you, you had appeared on the farm, alone, scared, and splattered in blood. Your parent's blood to be exact. The same day Carl was shot while trying to pet a dear (which you still scold him for to this day) you were taken in by Maggie coming back on her horse from collecting Lori and warning the others. She cleaned you up and basically took you in as her own even though her dad Hershel was completely against it since she was only in her early twenties but over time you grew on him. When Glenn and Maggie got together he accepted you as if you were his own blood as well since you were nothing but a meek child.
However during your first week on the farm when Carl was on bed rest it didn't stop you from being the curious kid you were, resulting in you asking Maggie to visit the unfamiliar boy non-stop until she finally gave in and asked Lori and Rick if you could see him. They said yes thanks to worrying about their son being lonely. When granted permission you walked into the room slightly nervous but confident that you would easily make friends with the boy. You saw Carl fiddling with the sheriff hat his dad had just given him but when you walked in he immediately stopped and stared at you. It freaked you out a little but you pushed it to the side and sat on the chair beside the bed.
"Hi, my name is y/n y/l/n, what's yours?" you ask trying to spark up a conversation. You could tell he was shy, it was written all over his facial features. "My name is Carl Grimes" he mutters as he fails to keep eye contact. "Well Carl Grimes I like your hat", you add to give him some type of confidence though you really did like the hat. He looked at you again with a smile on his face, "Thanks, my dad gave it to me" he spoke clearer than before. You smiled back at him and spent the rest of that day with him talking about random things you liked and sharing common interests.
Since then you and Carl were a pair nobody could ever seperate even if they tried. To say the least, he and you had gone through thick and thin together, losing Lori and Shane, the governor's attack, thinking Judith was dead, the collectors, terminus, and the church which is where you two had made it official, but now you were in Alexandria. It had taken some adjusting to get used to everyone and the environment but you did it with Carl by your side.
Earlier today while you were on your watch shift at the gate Carl had stopped by to bring you your favorite snack. You sat on top of the gate on the lookout when you heard the ladder being used. Soon enough Carl was sitting by your side with chocolate-covered strawberries in a container. Your face quickly lit up and you snatched the container from his hand. "Um a hi would also be appreciated y/n" he remarks. You playfully roll your eyes at him and give him a tight hug, as you pull away you place a soft kiss on his cheek. "Thank you Carl I appreciate it" You look at him with pure admiration and gratefulness in your eyes. "Of course baby", he places a quick kiss on your forehead as you open the container and start to eat.
"Soo, I was wondering if you wanted to come hang out at my house after you're done with your shift" he questioned with a hopeful expression. "Yeah of course" you reply with a smile. Carl grins at you and looks at your lips for a moment before pressing a kiss onto your lips. "What was that for i'm literally swallowing my food", you respond with a chuckle. "There was chocolate on your lips" he states with a shrug, "I'll see you later though". He places a quick kiss on your cheek as he moves to the ladder. "You're gross!" you call out for him to hear. "I know!"
A few hours had passed and you were at Carls's front door. You knocked and Rick answered the door with Judith in his hands. "Oh hey y/n it's good to see you" his accent strong on his tongue. "Hi Rick it's nice to see you too, and it's especially good to see you Judith", you poked at her stomach causing her to giggle. "Well we were just headed out, Carl's upstairs". "Oh alright well see you guys later" You smiled at them as you walked towards the stairs, hearing the door shut. As you reached Carl's room you heard your favorite song play.
Lovers Rock
You couldn't help but smile as you opened the door to see Carl sitting on his bed with a beautifully picked bouquet of roses in his hand. You closed the door behind you and he stood up from the bed. "Awww this is cute Carl thank you but you didn't need to play my favorite song to give me flowers", you say as you wrap your arms around his neck. "The song isn't for you sweetheart", he says within the crook of your neck. You pull away to look at him with a displeased look on your face, "Then who the fuck is it for?" you ask. "Me", he responds with a low chuckle. You tilt your head at him still slightly confused. Carl's cheeks flush a light pink before he responds, "The song reminds me of you".
You smile up at him before he leans down to give you a tender kiss on the lips as he holds you by your waist.
"She might want a kiss before the end of this song".
Hii again, this is now my second post. I decided to post this oneshot before I post "Running Feelings Part 2" so that will be coming soon. I'm not sure if this oneshot is either too long or too short because I don't really know how to feel about it but I'm posting this anyways!

More Asian QL reviews!
I have now watched another half dozen Asian QLs! This time, five of them are short to medium length, and only one is a full-length Thai drama (12 x 45 minutes). I have written down the lengths so you know how much time you'll be committing!
Choco Milk Shake (11 x 15ish minutes, plus one background 3 minute story)
What's it about? Jungwoo is feeling kind of down, when two handsome young men appear by his apartment. They declare that they're his childhood dog and cat, Choco and Milk, and that they have returned from the afterlife to make him happy.
Genre: dramedy
Watch if you enjoy: Actors who are very good at showing animal traits while gradually becoming more and more human. Cute and fluffy. No villains. Melancholy discussions of death. Happy-for-now ending.
Gayer version of: Minoes
Recommended? Yes! This show is like a warm hug, just so kind and compassionate. Of course you have to accept that the premise includes these former animals in (low heat) romance with humans. It helps that everyone is gorgeous. :-)
Watched on: Mostly YouTube, occasionally an episode gave me trouble and I turned to Dailymotion.
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3-fUBzCQuY
Rookie (94 minute film)
What's it about? Since there's no basketball team in Ace's new school, she joins the volleyball team instead. Star player Jana isn't too happy about the new recruit... at least at first.
Genre: coming of age
Watch if you enjoy: Character-focused stories. Volleyball. Enemies to lovers. Criticism of religious hypocrisy. Girls supporting each other (eventually).
Gayer version of: My So-Called Life
Recommended? Mildly yes. It's sympathetic and well-acted, and the story is at heart an interesting one. At the same time, it takes on a lot for its short runtime – it's a coming of age story, a romance, a sports film, and also tackles issues like sexual assault and parental bereavement. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite know how to pace all of it; some things drag on, while others get resolved much too quickly. Still, I would say that on average, I liked it!
Watched on: Bilibili
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSTcOkT72J0
Out of Breath (3x15 min)
What's it about? Ha Eun's girlfriend has just broken up with her, and with the encouragement of her friend Yu Bin, Ha Eun dares to try a dating app. But meeting someone this way is awkward, and is she even ready to move on?
Genre: Slice of life
Watch if you enjoy: Realistic lesbian love troubles. Mellow and empathetic. Same director as She Makes My Heart Flutter. (There's even a character called Yu Bin in both, played by the same actress! The Soo Not Sue universe, perhaps?)
Gayer version of: a Nora Ephron movie (with fewer one-liners).
Recommended? Yes! It was a nice little miniseries. Sure, it's nothing new, and the short runtime means the love connection is a bit underdeveloped, but the story still works well.
Watched on: YouTube
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jN1V3Lh4AHc
Love from Outta Space (22 min film)
What's it about? An alien lands in Off's garden and wants to know more about life on earth.
Genre: scifi
Watch if you enjoy: More OffGun after shows like Not Me and Theory of Love. Short and cute. Fish out of water. Deadpan vs. comedic. What is love?
Gayer version of: My Stepmother is an Alien
Recommended? Not unless you're really into OffGun. But at least it's short!
Watched on: YouTube
Whole thing (instead of trailer): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JfxlGewx1s
Girlfriend Project, Day 1 (4 x 5-8 min)
What's it about? Two students get paired up for an assignment where they have to pretend to date.
Genre: university drama
Watch if you enjoy: 24 hour romance, opposites attract, bickering to lovers, fake dating turned real, amorous while drunk
Gayer version of: a John Hughes movie
Recommended? The short runtime isn't quite enough to convince me that these two would be good with each other, but if you just want to watch two messy lesbians try to sort out their feelings, then yes. I will be tuning in for season 2 if/when we get it!
Watched on: YouTube
Whole thing: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_wBhmJHUwXRco0J2M4DNNq9M-gE31Ya1&si=M5QM_n59aR5azTtn
23.5 (12 x 45-60 min)
What's it about? Clumsy and nervous Ongsa starts a new school and is immediately taken in by the lovely Sun, but can't admit her feelings. Instead, she starts chatting to Sun anonymously.
Genre: highschool romcom
Watch if you enjoy: More MilkLove after Bad Buddy and Zero Photography. Light and fluffy. Awkward situations. Dorky humour. Big happy friend groups. Implied autistic side character. Several side couples, including one with (trans!) teachers.
Gayer version of: Saved by the Bell
Recommended? It's cute, and I got attached to the characters, though more the side characters than the main ones. It has some unfortunate romcom tropes (like stalking played for laughs), and it's very loosely plotted. As in, classic children's literature loosely.
In general, I would say yes, you could have a good time with this, just don't have your expectations too high.
Watched on: YouTube
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdOlxH11WnQ

We All Fall Down: Part I
Title: We All Fall Down
Warning: anxious and gifted reader, reader likes sherlock, concern, minor mention of death, sherlock being an a** aka sherlock being sherlock, part 2 upcoming
Genre: one shot; AU; imagine
Pairing: sherlock x !fem reader
Summary: Y/N is gifted. She can see events from the future... usually she enjoys the visions but lately has been bothered by only one thing: John Watson's death. How will she tell Sherlock? What will he do when it actually happens?
A/N: Hello!! This imagine will have another part in which i'll hopefully be able to conclude the story. I'm very grateful for all the support and friends I've got in here! Love you all 💕😘
⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇
You had a gift... Gift to envision the future. You cared for Sherlock and never in your life did you want to see the consulting detective, your consulting detective the way you saw him in the vision. Knowing that you can't change the future, hurt more than anything yet you didn't have the heart to tell anyone about it. You were on your way, pretending to smile and present the jolly nature to everyone as always. No one...not even Sherlock could make out a difference. You were hell of an actor...
♧♧♧
"Sherlock?" The quietness of 221B made your voice much louder than you anticipated it to. "Hm?" the detective hummed without raising his head from the cellular phone. You cleared your throat to get Sherlock's attention but he didn't budge. Sighing you told him that you had a question for him... This instantly got a reaction, "you have my attention." He slid his phone into his pocket and sat up straight. His eyes bore into your E/C eyes and you couldn't help but feel intimidated by it. However, you proceeded, "If... This is totally hypothetical..." You sat up straight as well. "... If you come to know that John is uh well let's say dead..." You smiled and rolled your eyes to emphasise that this sure was an absurd thought. "So if that's the case, what would you do?"
Sherlock said nothing. It was quiet again and you couldn't help but regret asking the question. "You know what, you dont even have t-" You were cut off when you noticed him... Chuckling?? My goodness, if this question can impact him to this extent, what would he actually do when... Your thoughts trailed as you gave him a confused look..
"John Watson dying? That is absolutely out of the realm of possibility, Y/N. We both know John is quite intelligent to actually die. But if you are this curious to know... ... If he does die, isn't it obvious that I will investigate the cause of his death? Now that I actually give it some thought, it would be an interesting case... "
He nodded to himself and went back to his phone again. You still couldn't comprehend half of the things he said merely because he seemed to be mumbling to himself. Well that was the case most of the time so it didn't really matter much anyways.
However you couldn't ignore the lump forming in your throat when you realised the fact that Sherlock considers John's death to be a preposterous thought.
You slumped your shoulders and exhaled. Oh boy, he surely wasn't ready for what was to come next...
⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇
A/N: OKIE! soo I'm already assuming you know what's to come next right?? ✨

there are lots of different variations of the SU x GF crossover so I wanted to share my own headcanons! (which apply to all of the comics I’ve made)
General:
It takes place post-SUF and post-GF (no Bill stuff, sorry guys lol)
Steven crosses paths with Stan and Ford while he was still on the east coast, sometime in the late winter/early spring
maybe they invite him onto their boat for a chat and some cocoa idk
Stan gave Steven his beanie (which is why I’ve been drawing Steven wearing a beanie)
They suggested he visit the Mystery Shack in Gravity Falls whenever he’s in the area. Stan and Ford would there in the summer for Dipper and Mabel’s birthday, so they hopefully meet again if the timing was right (and it is)
By the late spring/early summer, Steven makes it to Gravity Falls
He initially only plans to stay for a couple days, but gets on well will Soos (and Melody!), and within a day or so the twins arrive, who convince him to work at the shack for the summer
Steven agrees, but leaves when the twins go back to school, since there’s only a small handful of people in Gravity Falls he can actually stand to be around (they’re all a bit to mean for his tastes)
Steven is suuuuper gullible, and can’t quite differentiate between the Mystery Shack gimmicks and the genuinely supernatural. Like I said on this comic, he doesn’t really have a reason to be skeptical of things that are out of the ordinary, and he’s excited by stuff that he knows isn’t caused by gem stuff.
Since Steven is staying in Gravity Falls on his birthday (August 15th), the gems would certainly come visit. They can’t stay for very long, though, since they’re pretty busy nowadays.
Stan and Ford don’t arrive until mid August, and head back to the Atlantic Ocean shortly after Dipper and Mabel’s birthday
There might still be a corrupted gem or two lurking in the woods, but overall there’s a pretty astonishing lack of gem-related activity. Steven finds himself out of his element (but he’s kind of digging it??)
Mabel learns that Steven has never been to school, and now with her first year’s experience of high school under her belt, convinces her friends, Dipper, and Wendy to let Steven pretend he’s a high school student for a day, and set up a fake classroom with fake homework and everything.
I usually roll my eyes at suspiciously perfect coincidences, like certain characters previously knowing each other or someone Steven knows just so happens to visit the Mystery Shack while he’s working there, but I do like the concept that Wendy or Robbie is familiar with Sadie’s music. Maybe Steven could let Sadie call them and do a mini-performance over the phone lol
Character dynamics:
Sometimes Steven will state unusual facts about himself so nonchalantly, no one can tell whether he’s fucking with them or not
Like most other iterations of this crossover, Dipper has taken a High interest in solving What’s Up With Steven, even though there’s nothing to solve.
Steven isn’t THAT open. He doesn’t share every little detail about himself, especially regarding his recent trauma. (I mean, it’s extremely personal, why would he yknow)
Dipper actually gets a little jealous of how well Steven and Mabel get along, even when they’re doing stuff he’s not into. Cause like, that’s his sister! >:0
pre-Future Steven would not have been very fond of Dipper, but post-Future Steven definitely is. He sees how much Dipper tries to take himself too seriously and act “grown up”, and it reminds Steven that he needs to be better about that too.
Ford can read gem glyph, to Steven’s delight
Stan has a HUGE soft spot for Steven, especially if he learns his story. He has a bit of overlap in the “faked my death and lived a huge portion of my life under a different identity” department.
Pearl would probably get along with Stan for the same reason
You’d might think Pearl would like Ford cause they’re both “intellectuals” or smth idk but she’d think he’s kind of stuffy and actually her favorite of the bunch would be Soos lol
Stan has also traveled to every state, so he makes sure to pass on to Steven his (frankly very bad) advice.
Steven tries to get along with Wendy’s friends, but quickly realizes how little he vibes with them
Waddles is big now! I can’t decide whether I like him better as a regular pig or a pot-bellied big. Even if he were a pot-bellied pig, after a year he’d be 100 pounds at least, and nearly the size of a large dog. But if he were a regular farm pig, he’d be a b e a s t
Steven wouldn’t fuse with anyone here. The only humans he’s ever fused with are Connie, who is his closest friend and girlfriend, and his dad. I just don’t see it happening.
I may or may not add more as I go. I probably won’t delve into every combination of every single crystal gem and every single Gravity Falls citizen, because 1) there’s too many to count and 2) most of those interactions are probably unlikely to happen anyway.

Flower Boy
— pairing: (ATEEZ) San x Reader
— genre: slice of life, Barista au
— words: 3k
— rating: SFW
— warnings: none~
— notes: HELLO! It’s been awhile, and I am so sorry for my lack of posting and writing. A lot of stuff has happened, from me graduating Uni early (whoo!), to a few deaths in my family, life has really gotten to me. It makes me very happy to see so many people still liking and reading my stories though, so thank you for all the kind comments and tags! I have a few stories in the works including a spin off of Soulmate! Until next time! (I rewrote a part of the ending and wanted to start off fresh with this so I hope you don’t mind!)
-
You smiled triumphantly, finally finishing the last stretch of your midterm paper, stretching your arms out in front of you in your cramped work space. It was nearing Spring Break and that meant the amount of school work was becoming borderline atrocious. Luckily, you planned well enough and weren’t experiencing the detrimental study cram like your roommate Irene.
“Irene c'mon you have to take a break!” You stood up, walking to her side of the dorm which somehow was even more destroyed than yours. Irene groaned as she rubbed her face, leaning back into her chair.
“Yeah a break would be nice…” she mumbled, her eyes red from lack of sleep. You smiled as you pulled her up trying to think of somewhere the two of you could go for a small break.
“There’s that new cafe nearby! The one Seonghwa from Psych works at?” You offered, gently tugging on your shoes near the door. Irene nodded as she followed suit, tugging on a light jacket. One of your friends from psych, Seonghwa, and a gaggle of his rowdy friends all somehow landed themselves a job at a new cafe by campus.
“You and Irene should totally come! Drinks on me.” He had offered one day.
The walk was short and sweet, the trees on campus starting to bloom gorgeous blossoms and the light sunny air put a pep back in both you and Irene’s steps. The cafe was a modern looking place, flowers adorning the outside patio. You also noticed the abundance of well dressed girls that filled the place as well. Shaking your head, you pulled the door open for both you and Irene, the bell above alerting the bustling baristas to your presence.
“Welcome to Cafe- Oh! Y/n and Irene! Welcome!” A boyish laugh sounded from behind the barista bar as you spotted Seonghwa’s tall figure operating the espresso machine.
“Hey Seonghwa!” You waved back as did Irene, filing into the line to the counter. From your spot, you could also spot familiar faces of his friends, Hongjoong his red haired best friend, and Yeosang from your literature class. You could understand now why so many girls were filling the small cafe, everyone here was absolutely gorgeous. You finally reached the counter where another boy leaned, making conversation with every customer, his figure so tall he had to lean down to operate the ipad for orders. Your heart sped up a little as you gave a wave to him, a large smile breaking his face.
God he was hot.
“Hey your Y/n right? Your friends with Seonghwa?” He asked, cocking his head in a boyish manner as he spoke to you. You nodded a bit lost for words, “Yeah and you’re...you’re San right?” You winced, hoping you got it right. He nodded happily and grinned, “That's me! Now what could I get you?” He asked with a sly wink. You fumbled for a quick order, something along the lines of an iced latte. As you reached for your card, San reached a hand out to stop you, his large hands surprisingly soft.
“No please it’s on me.”
You went to argue but he quickly passed the order to Seonghwa who shrugged and motioned you and Irene to a nearby vacant table. You and Irene quickly took your seats at the table, trying to ignore the glances of jealous girls at your interactions with the guys.
“They sure have a crowd going.” You mused, smiling as you spotted some of the waiters entertaining groups of girls. Irene nodded in agreement, her eyes particularly locked on the back on Yeosang’s head. You nudged her and she bashfully laughed it off, the two of you getting lost in conversation before a cough broke you both away. Again, San stood before you, grinning as he held two iced beverages he carefully placed on the table. You both thanked him gratefully as he kneeled down, placing his elbows on the table.
“So ladies what's the plan for today?”
It seemed to be in the cafe’s style that all the baristas and servers would make small talk with the customers, which you didn’t mind of course. You and San unexpectedly went back and forth, travelling from topic to topic. You found yourself getting lost in conversation with each other enough so that Irene interrupted the two of you.
“It’s getting a bit late isn't it Y/n? We still have some studying to do.” Irene said smugly, sliding her jacket back on her shoulders. Your eyes grew wide as you glanced at your phone, noticing you had been talking for a good while now.
“Oh shoot yeah, sorry San, I didn’t mean to keep you from your work-”
“No it’s no problem I had fun.” He brushed off your apology with a smile. You and Irene quickly gathered your belongings to leave, giving the baristas one last wave before exiting.
“Wait Y/n!” You heard a call from inside, stopping you in the middle of the door.
“Hm?” You asked, turning back to see a grinning San behind the counter.
“I work Mondays, Wednesdays, and the weekends. Come see me again!”
The hoots from the other boys behind the counter was enough to make your face turn a slight shade of red,
“We’ll see!” you called back before closing the door behind you.
After large study periods and quite a few tears, midterms passed as quickly as they began. The refreshing feeling of knowing you had an entire week to yourself was pure bliss to say the least. Irene had planned a trip with a few of her friends, and of course, felt terrible you wanted to stay on campus.
“Y/n c'mon it would be so much fun!”
You shook your head, “It’s okay Irene go have fun! I’m going to just relax here and do absolutely nothing.” you admitted with a content grin. She shrugged, and before you knew it, you were left alone. With so much spare time on your hands, you weren't sure what you wanted to start with. You had a few books you wanted to read, some recipes you wanted to try...or, you could also swing by San’s cafe as well. It had been awhile since you first visited and you couldn't deny the lingering effect he had on your mind. His black hair, smile, the way he rolled his sleeves up when making drinks. A blush stained your cheeks as you shook your head,
‘Here you are, thirsting over some guy you met once.’
But hey, one visit wouldn’t hurt right, and it just so happened to be the weekend.
Packing up a small tote bag with a book, your notebook, and a few pens, you headed out down the scenic route to the cafe. The flowers were even more in bloom than the last time you were there, gentle white daisies and yellow poppies. There was another tall man conversing with a family on the front patio of the cafe. He noticed you walk up and gave an energetic wave.
“Hey your Y/n right?” He smiled, a cute golden retriever air about him. You nodded, adjusting the bag on your shoulder, “Yeah, your in my stats class right? Let's see... Yunho?”
Yunho nodded happily, a large dopey grin on his face, “That's me! To be honest you came in on the perfect day-” Yunho politely excused himself from the family to make his way closer to you, your height differences astonishing this close.
“What do you mean-” You were about to ask before Yunho hushed you, glancing back towards the cafe and pushing you behind the cafe's hedge, out of the window's line of sight. He surveyed the front of the store before blowing out a breath.
“Whew alright he didn’t see us.” He said relieved.
“Who didn't see us?” You asked, also trying to peer your head over the bush.
“San. Ever since you came in, he has been looking forward to seeing you, and well, it’s been awhile since your last visit and he’s kind of depressed about it. Today has been the worst, but as luck would have it, you’re here!” Yunho rushed out quickly, giving you a smile of encouragement. You were a bit confused to say the least, but also a bit surprised.
“He wanted me to come back that bad? I thought he was just being nice-”
“San is nice to everyone, which makes him pretty popular. But the way he stared at you from behind the counter said it all.” Yunho admitted. “I’ve known him for awhile, and I’ve never seen him act like this. If you're not interested it’s totally fine I just wanted to let you know this will really make his day.” With a reassuring pat on the shoulder, Yunho went back to entertaining the guests on the patio, leaving you with a pounding heart. It would be a lie to say it didn’t make you excited, you mean, you did find San very attractive and kind as well.
‘Lets just see how this goes..’
You walked back to the patio, opening the door gently, the bell alerting your arrival. There was no line like usual, so you had a clear shot from the door to the counter. San was behind the counter again as well, but his back was turned as he was finishing up some drinks for the few other customers inside. You approached the counter with a smile as you waited patiently for him to finish. He quickly turned around, not entirely too focused on who it was before him, but rather typing quickly on the Ipad. His voice was not in his usual tone as he started, “Thank you for waiting, what can I get started for you?”
You laughed brightly before moving yourself closer to the counter, his face being a few heads higher than your own so you could look up into his eyes,
“Hi San.”
San jumped back with a yelp, a few towers of paper cups falling with his flail, “Y/N? What are you doing here? Today? You showed up-er- here wow uh..” He stumbled over his words, a bright red flush dusting his cheeks. You couldn’t help the laugh that trickled out of your throat.
“I finally finished my midterms, sorry I wasn’t able to make it in sooner.” You apologized.
San shook his head quickly, “No no no don’t apologize it’s totally fine-” his hands nervously ran through his hair, pushing it back away from his forehead.
“I’m just glad-” he stopped to clear his throat, “I’m just glad you came back in.”
You smiled at that. San had a way of being so earnest, even at times like this.
“This time I am paying for my drink Mr.” you warned, already pulling out your card. San’s usual grin graced his features again as he held his hands up in surrender, “Fine you got me this time.”
You ordered another iced drink, and took a table near a large window within the shop, the sunlight not too harsh yet still warm against your skin. You heard footsteps approaching and you grinned, but looked curious when rather than San bringing your drink, it was Yeosang.
“Yeosang, hi.” You smiled. Yeosang gave you a polite smile as well, placing your drink down on the table as well as a warmed pastry.
“San got called into the back for a while, so he wanted me to bring this to you since he can’t come over and talk for awhile.” Yeosang said in his gentle voice. You laughed a bit at the situation, picturing in your mind no doubt San’s pouting face.
“Thank you very much Yeosang. Oh, and Irene wanted me to tell you she says hi.” The startled look on his face was perfect as he quickly excused himself back to the counter. You smiled and shook your head, pulling out your book to start your reading. Chapters in, you noticed the chair in front of you being pulled out. A tired San deflated once in the chair, allowing his head to hang back. You winced at the stiffness in your joints as you set your book down, watching the tired barista.
“Rough day?” you asked sympathetically, placing your chin on your hand. San shook his head as he sat up, leaning onto the table with his elbows. “Just busy. We’re training some new hires, so I have a lot to do.” He sighed but his smile easily came back.
“But I am glad you came by today.” He grinned. San’s eyes alway crinkled when he smiled like this, and he always had a laugh on his lips, in a way, you were a bit jealous he could uphold such an attitude. You both made small conversation, enjoying the time you guys finally had together. Before you knew it, the sun was beginning to set, casting the cafe in an orange hue.
Seonghwa emerged from the back, spotting you two chatting away at the table, “Sorry to interrupt but, it’s closing time guys!” He smiled, obviously eager to leave. Your eyes widened as you realized indeed, you were the last one in the establishment.
“Oh my god I’m so sorry I didn’t realize-”
Seonghwa shook his head, “No you’re good. In fact since San was supposed to help me close, I’ll just have him walk you back to your dorm instead. I’d feel guilty just kicking you out like this.”
San whipped his head around, totally ecstatic over the fact one, he got to leave early, and two of course, walk you home.
“C’mon Y/n let's go!” He grinned, pulling your hand along with him. You laughed as you quickly collected your bag, giving a wave to Seonghwa.
The air outside was warm despite the night creeping in. You walked alongside San down the road to your university, an air of comfortable silence between you two.
“Why did you start working at the coffee shop?” You asked.
“It was always Seonghwa’s dream to have something like this, ever since we were in grade school. I just wanted to help make his dream..I don’t know a reality I guess?” San admitted sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck. You nodded, honestly in awe of such kind words.
“I’m sure he appreciates you very much.” You smiled up at him, causing him to turn away bashfully. He cleared his throat as he glanced back down at you, “Well I mean how about you? I want to know everything about you.”
The walk back to your dorm was filled with conversation with San, ranging from classes to hobbies and favorite foods. It was so easy to talk to him, you found yourself drawn into him with every word and you couldn’t ignore the fluttering of your heart anytime he said your name. Before you knew it, your dorm was in sight.
“Thanks again for walking me back. I appreciate San.” You smiled, toying with the strap of your bag.
“Of course! I didn’t want you to walk alone.” San grinned, slipping his hands into his pockets. The air grew stagnant, and both of you fidgeted in the silence, not quite wanting your time together to end.
“Y/n-”
“San-”
The two of your stopped, realizing you talked over each other so easily before breaking into giggling grins.
“You first.” San smiled.
“Well I just want you to know, I um...I really like hanging out with you!” You admitted, casting your eyes down to his shoes. “I really like hanging out with you, and I would like to keep hanging out with you. If you don’t feel the same way though I totally understand-”
“Can I kiss you?”
You stopped, your eyes quickly scanning up from the floor to San’s face, the heat rushing to your cheeks.
“Can you what?”
San smiled, a boyish carefree smile, one that stirred butterflies in your stomach.
“Can I,” his hand found yours, holding it between the two of you, “kiss you?”
You felt yourself nodding before the words even escaped your mouth. San waited, his face only inches now form yours. His breath was shallow, and you found yourself a little giddy at how nervous he suddenly looked. He was only inches away.
“Yes, San-”
You were cut off by a gentle sensation on your lips. It was soft and tentative, like he was holding himself back. San’s hand cupped your cheek and your own hand rose to his chest. He pulled back, his breath light on your face.
You could feel the heat rising to your cheeks as San chuckled, grabbing onto your wrist and pulling you into his chest, his arms wrapping around you so naturally.
“I really like hanging out with you too, Y/n.”
Your face was pressed into his chest, the faint smell of coffee and pastries still lingering on him.
“But..” You could feel San shifting, leaning down so his face was closer to yours, “I’d rather hang out with you as your boyfriend.”
Your smile widened as you stared back at him, your hands softly travelling to hold his face. He gently leaned into your touch, his smile mirroring yours.
“I’d like that too.” You whispered back, your forehead resting against his. The two of you stayed like this, giggling and whispering between each other without care. Eventually San begrudgingly acknowledged he had to leave, but not without a few pouts.
“I’ll see you soon yeah?”
You nodded, your fingers slowly drifting apart.
“I’ll bring you breakfast tomorrow.” You smiled, earning a large grin from San. It only took him two brisk steps to be in front of you again while you laughed.
“San you really gotta head home-”
“I just wanted to see you like this. One last time before I go.”
You raised an eyebrow at him.
“Like how?” You watched as his hand returned to your cheek, stroking it gently.
“Smiling.”
“Smiling?”
“Smiling, because of me.”
-
-
On her trip, Irene grinned as she stared at her phone. It was a blurry selfie of you and San, looking all lovey dovey at the café, while half of Yeosangs face was in the frame.
‘Told you we’d get them together!’-Yeosang
Laughing she grinned and replied back.
‘About time :)’-Irene

2019 END OF YEAR KDrama Post
Wow, I haven’t made one in years. This is going to involve only dramas that came out in 2019 because I watched a hell of a lot dramas made prior to that and trying to figure out which ones will give me a headache.
DRAMAS WATCHED (In order of liking from most to least as opposed to pure quality; I am including if I’ve seen at least two eps AND feel it was enough to make up my mind; yes I realize that’s inaccurate, but that’s my list)
Extraordinary You - A philosophy and religion course AND a love story, and perfect at both.
My Country - a brutal, passionate, intense masterpiece of a sageuk. This is how they should be.
Crash Landing On You - the two eps that have aired brought my joy in watching kdramas back to me so vividly. This is everything.
Encounter - the perfect noona romance of the year for me. It seems to have little plot (powerful older woman, idealistic younger man) but the characters made me love them with an unhealthy amount of attachment and the mood is just perfect.
Haechi - smart traditional sageuk with a heart. This one will make you love it but also respect it in the morning :)
Queen: Love and War - Period, romance, mystery, helpless king and feisty heroine. It’s everything I love in one package.
Chocolate - if, like me, you like slow old-school melo with genuine grown-ups, this one is for you. Ha Ji Won and Yoon Kye Sang are both incandescent in this.
One Spring Night - a rare slice of life that worked for me so so much. I rooted for the main OTP like crazy (I did skip all the sister stuff though because boring to me.) It’s just a breath of fresh air.
The Tale of Nokdu - a rare funny youth sageuk that worked for me (except, ironically, for when they tried to be politics-heavy and serious about it.) Wonderful OTP, funny situations and just generally a delight.
Memories of the Alhambra - I can hear people screaming that I put this so high, but this is a faves ranking, not objective one, and I loved the unusual premise (it ultimately fell apart but it tried), and Hyun Bin’s performance was out of this world and the aaaaagnst and I enjoyed waiting for it each week until almost the end. That ending though!!!!!
Psychopath Diary - this is black comedy at its best and hysterical and smart and somehow got me invested in the hapless protagonist.
Hotel del Luna - clever and funny and smart. Hong Sisters largely back to form. I found the sageuk parts more engaging than modern ones, but what else is new.
Search WWW - some parts of it worked for me more than others, but it had solid writing and cool characters and some interesting OTP(s).
Love is Beautiful Life is Wonderful - has the weekend drama slowness but it lovely and fun.
When the Camellia Blooms - it was well made and the OTP was great and the acting top notch, I just don’t tend to go gaga for slice of life dramas, especially ones involving market ladies, much.
Flower Crew Joseon Marriage Agency - competently done, pretty period piece about nothing. It was enjoyable and forgettable at once.
Catch the Ghost - I put it as high as I did because the OTP really did have lovely chemistry but the story was a complete mess, the police work made no sense and the heroine’s character was like nails on a chalkboard for me.
Joseon Survival - I got about four episodes in and liked it a lot but then Kang Ji Hwan turned out to be a convicted rapist, they replaced the lead and I didn’t go back. I kind of want to because I liked what I saw and I am madly curious as to whether they changed the main character or just said he had a different face now, no explanation.
The Last Empress - pure inconsistent trash but so entertaining!
Vagabond - I made it eight episodes in before I realized that I would have as much fun staring at traffic. It’s a competently done actioner but without more, actioners never work for me, so this was a viewer/drama mismatch.
Arthdal Chronicles - incoherent, visually odd and boring, this is arguably the worst drama this year but I am giving it higher place because the cast really tries (even if it tends to fail because it has nothing to work with) and because it attempted something different even if it failed spectacularly. SO BAD.
Melting Me Softly - yes, my brain was fully melted by this soulless, charmless waste of Ji Chang Wook and my limited free time.
VIP - Any drama that makes the main mystery and thrust of the story who the husband cheated on his wife with is BORING. Seriously, this is not exactly Hercule Poirot. They wasted their cast - I have NO idea why Lee Sang Yoon agreed to be in this as a one note character and Jang Nara is playing a second scorned wife in a row but without even the entertainment value of her previous outing.
Abyss - aptly named. The best thing I can say about it is it didn’t offend me but oh boy was it dull.
Absolute Boyfriend - I loved the manga but it’s time to accept this can never be adapted well. They wasted the cast and that ending was just an insult on top of a trash heap.
The Lies Within - you cast that cast and deliberately have no romance. You are dead to me.
Woman of 9.9 Billion - competently made, but it’s everything I dislike - dour unpleasant bored people behaving as if they are in a particularly dreary art-house French movie but without any nuance or interest the latter came provide.
Love with Flaws - shrill, dumb, neither acted nor written by anyone trying at all.
Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung - objectively, it’s not the worst drama on the list, but it’s everything I hate in one package - willfully ahistorical but not cleverly so, male lead incapable of acting, the characters so one-dimensional they disappear, this purports to be a period drama but about as period as a space ship. God, I loathed this.
FAVORITE DRAMA
Extraordinary You - smart (so mind-bendingly smart) and moving and totally unpredictable and with so many things to say about free will and religion and self and nature of memory and narrative, this had an insane impossible premise and yet somehow managed to do it full justice and stick the landing.
WORST DRAMA
People with Flaws - this is different from least favorite because even if I loathed e.g., Rookie Historian or Woman of 9.9 Billion, I recognized some positive features; it’s just certain things really rubbed me the wrong way due to personal preferences. But this shrill hot mess of a drama is really everything that’s wrong with dramaworld.
FAVORITE MALE CHARACTER
Prince Yeoning, Haechi - fiercely smart, strong, tormented by the duality of his birth (royal father, servant mother) but not letting this distract him from his purpose, loyal to the bone, and with integrity nothing can shake but where you can feel that it’s not easy and that it costs him.
FAVORITE FEMALE CHARACTER
Eun Dan Oh, Extraordinary You - a go-getter who remakes the world (literally); smart, cheerful, strong, beautifully human. She feels so real and yet is larger than anything around her.
NEEDS TO BE MURDERED
Yi Seung Gye, My Country - a sociopath destroying lives in his quest for power and control, even the destruction of his own family barely gives him anything but momentary pause. He is the reason for the tragedy of MC.
FAVORITE SHIP
Eun Dan Oh x Haru, Extraordinary You - their love is literally universe and god-defying. They have loved each other as different people in three separate worlds (and counting), and have defied loss of memory and even loss of self as well as death, the end of worlds, and their god and the narrative and literally anything and everything, to be together.
Runner Up: Soo Hyun x Jin Hyuk, Encounter: tender and decent and his bringing her back to vivid life and the way they love and support and compliment each other.
Probably gonna be on list if doesn’t go haywire: Crash Landing on You: she is a SK heiress, he’s a NK officer, they have mad chemistry and so much potential.
NOTP:
Tae Mi x Morgan, Search WWW - love the actors, love the chemistry, love the characters in terms of the way they are written, but they are absolutely wrong for each other and there is no future of any sort but misery ahead. None of their issues are resolved but are swept under the rug. It’s a cautionary tale, not a romance. I did a long rant before so not repeating.
BEST SECONDARY OTP
Scarlett x Ji Hwan, Search WWW - they stole the shippiness in the drama for me. Cooky and adorable and noona romance done right.
FAVORITE SCENE
Haru’s final disappearance, Extraordinary You - the lights start to go out, the world literally dissolving, Eun Oh and Haru clinging to each other, with his telling her she was his beginning and the end. His name, the one she gave him, is the last thing he hears. In a drama full of amazing scenes the very gist of which was defying the very creator and universe and meaning of existence, this was the one that stayed with me the most.
BIGGEST CRUSH
Seo Hwi, My Country - I have a thing for deeply honorable, deeply tortured period badasses with long hair and a death wish (see Choi Young in Faith etc.)
BEST SCENE STEALER CHARACTER
Yi Bang Won, My Country - he started out as an antihero and ended up as arguably a tragic villain (or maybe still an anti-hero) but oh boy, was he magnetic and fascinating and sucking out all the oxygen whenever he was in the scene.
NEEDS A SEQUEL
Memories of the Alhambra - WTF ending was that?! All that misery and no real resolution?! Dammit!
TROPE THAT NEEDS TO DIE
Youth Sageuk - I hate most of them! They are anachronistic and dumb and honestly, what is the point of having fully modern people in period clothes? Just make a modern show and call it a day.
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT
Melting Me Softly - Ji Chang Wook’s first project back from the military was an unfunny, unmoving, pointless mess with not an ounce of genuine enjoyment despite the excellent pedigree of everyone involved in front and behind the camera.
Arthdal Chronicles - the makers made excellent Queen Seon Duk, Tree with Deep Roots and Six Flying Dragons. The cast was uniformly A grade. The result was an open-ended, boring, incoherent mess that looks like a bad sort of a drug trip and made about as much sense.
BIGGEST GOOD SURPRISE
Extraordinary You - I had zero interest in yet another high school drama with no actors I recognized. By the end, EY was an emotional brainy twister of a marvel that became my favorite drama of all time. I’ve been watching dramas for over 13 years so that’s saying something.
2019 DRAMAS I HAVEN’T SEEN THAT I MOST WANT TO WATCH
The Crowned Clown - I love sageuks and cast and it looks so smart and emotional
Angel’s Last Mission: Love - my next contemporary - I watched a little and loved what I saw
Fates and Furies - I saw a few eps and classic melo is so up my alley.
Clean with a Passion for Now - I like the cast and it’s a year of falling for hot weird bosses apparently.
Graceful Family - I love makjang and Im Soo Jung.
The Secret Life of My Secretary - downmarket Beauty Inside and I loved BI.
Love Affairs in the Afternoon - artsy adultery FTW
Item - I don’t like crime stuff but I am here for Joo Ji Hoon.
My Strange Hero - seems a little cooky but I am fond of Yoo Seung Ho.
MOST ANTICIPATED IN 2020
King: the Eternal Monarch - Lee Min Ho and Woo Do Hwan and parallel worlds and written by Kim Eun Suk. Yes Please.
I should probably make one for cdramas too though that one would be rather shorter.

Better With You (One shot)
// Seren’s Masterlist //
Fandom: MCU
Pairing: Steve Rogers x OFC
Chapter Summary: With no Valentine, Seren agrees to go on a date with an old friend, unknowingly setting herself up for disaster. When Steve answers hers call for help, he does everything he can to lift her spirits that evening. Being alone in the compound might help them finally be honest with each other.
Taglist: @ocfairygodmother @anotherunreadblog @maaaaarveeeeel @stareyedplanet @perfectlystiles
[If you’d like to be added to this specific OC’s stories/edits, send me a message!]
It started out as a game. It wasn't a game he wanted to play; it wasn't even a game he incited. No, that was what his "friends" were for.
Steve really considered for a good day or so about changing friends because the ones he had turned out to be very mean. To him.
"Oh c'mon," Natasha trailed after him one morning, "Valentine's Day is this Friday. You still have a couple days to get something together for Seren."
It was simply too early to deal with this. Steve headed for the kitchen for something to drink all while Natasha continued to make her point.
"A simple dinner would do it. Hell, a homemade dinner would be just as fine. We all know you like Seren, so just go and ask her out." Natasha leaned on the kitchen aisle, sending him a very wide smirk.
"Okay, that's not fair. Everybody likes Seren." Steve was fairly sure that there wasn't a single person who didn't like Seren Soul. She was an absolute sweetheart. Who could hate her?
Seren was always kind, a natural leader for the newest recruits. She took people under her wing, cared for and helped them. Plus, she was a bit of a sneak. Given her small statue and her big shiny eyes, it was always funny how people underestimated her only to get their asses handed to them. Steve himself had made that mistake a couple times and ended up on the ground, defeated while Seren smirked proudly. There was just something about her that drew people in, made them like her, love her.
He was guilty of the latter.
Natasha knew it, which was why she easily retorted: "Yeah, but nobody likes her more than you."
"Natasha."
"Sorry," she raised a hand then added, "Loves." Steve deadpanned her and her smug smile. "A date. A Valentine's date. Wouldn't that be nice?"
Of course but...me and Seren? That would never happen." And Steve deeply lamented it. Seren was way out of his league, a line that followed him through the decades it seemed.
"Who says?" challenged Natasha, half amused and the other half kind of irritated this was the reason those two idiots weren't together already. "You?" she presumed. "You know it's kind of last century to make the choice for you and the woman."
Steve rolled his eyes. "I'm not making any choice for Seren, I'm just reading the room."
"Well you're reading it all wrong!"
"I am not!"
Sam walked in on them before they could go further. "What's going on?" He asked slowly, now thinking twice about that glass he came in for.
"Nothing," Steve answered at the same time Natasha said "I want to get him a date!" Needless to say, the death glare Steve sent her way was well expected.
Sam, however, relaxed once he got the jist of the situation. "With Seren?" Natasha smirked smugly while Steve groaned. "Go for it," Sam snapped his fingers. "She'd say yes in a heartbeat."
"I am not!"
"Steve's in denial," Natasha said, rolling her eyes.
"That's rich," scoffed Sam. He came up to the aisle, planting an arm down. "You gave me the stink eye when I happened to flirt with Seren. It was all playful too and I still got the hint you were thinking of throwing me off the rooftop without the wings."
Natasha snorted into a laugh.
Steve did his best to stay stoic. He hadn't meant to make his disdain that obvious but when Seren had laughed at Sam, things turned red. Fast.
"Just ask her out this Friday. It's Valentine's day," Sam shrugged. "Flowers wouldn't hurt. She looks the type to go ga-ga over them."
"She is," Natasha was quick to confirm.
"As productive as this conversation has been, I'm going to go now," Steve announced. He couldn't bear the conversation and the tease anymore.
But it wasn't like simply leaving the room would afford him the peace he desperately wanted. As Friday approached, the suggestions and teases only got worse. He had to be extra careful not to let Seren hear anything. He was able to seclude her from the others whenever they happened to be together.
"Hey there, soldier," she surprised him on Wednesday when he walked into the kitchen for a quick breakfast. She was dressed in pajamas, her pixie ginger hair somehow messy, sitting on the aisle with a bowl of something that smelled pretty good.
"What are you doing?" He asked her in bemusement. "And what are you eating?"
She waved her spoon in the air with a joyful smile. "Wanda decided to make me a Sokovian breakfast. Isn't that nice of her?"
Steve smiled. "She's being thankful, Seren. You've helped her so much in these past months."
Seren shrugged her shoulders. "Just trying to be helpful," she said.
"You always are." Steve walked over to her, peering down to the bowl on her lap.
"Want some? It's pretty good!"
"I'll let you have your gift, thanks."
"So, do you have your plans for the weekend?" She seemed to ask casually though there was a little twinkle in her green eyes when he turned for the fridge.
"Not really, probably just stay in. You?"
"Don't know yet," she shrugged. "I know for a fact that everyone else has plans. Tony's going out with Pepper, obviously." They both paused to smile at each other. "Sam and Natasha are bar hopping."
"Bar what?" Steve paused again, if only to process the odd name.
Seren giggled. "Ask Sam later. Even Wanda and Vision are doing something. They're close, those two. So, it seems like you and I are the last ones."
"...we are..." Steve wondered of this coincidence was, in fact, a master plan of Natasha's but even she wasn't that good to set up something like this.
"Soo...you really don't have anything to do Friday?" Seren suddenly found her breakfast incredibly interesting. She wanted to control her heartbeat and keep it from reaching Steve's ears. At least try to be subtle!
"...no," Steve answered a minute later. He could've been a little brave and asked her to do something with him but the fear of her rejection or worse, her taking it as a platonic night, got the best of him.
He completely missed the disappointment marking her face.
"Oh," she swallowed hard. Don't you dare get upset. Of course he wouldn't ask you to do anything with him. She always did this to herself. She got hopeful that maybe things between her and Steve could go further than friendship. He was just too sweet to tell her 'no' to her face.
She just had to face the music. There was no way in hell Steve Rogers would ever look at her twice. She was too weird for his taste. After all, not many people could get over her unique origins. It was one thing to he friends with an alien, and a completely different thing to date one.
~0~
I have a date.
Four words. All it took were four words to puncture his heart so deeply. Steve didn't even know that was possible.
Seren had gotten a date. He shouldn't even be surprised. She was gorgeous beyond belief. It would take just one of her dimple smiles to get any man to ask her out, a man with courage anyways.
"It wasn't me!" Natasha was quick to say later on that day. She strode into the training room, intending on clarifying things before he made any assumptions. "If it was up to me, I would have set you up with her but you told me no."
Steve had found solace in a punching bag. Tale as old as time. "I know!" He grunted with one punch, then another. "Who's the guy?"
Natasha set her hands on her hips. "I don't know, some ex-S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. The ironic part is, years ago he asked her out and she said no. Wonder why he would try again..."
Steve could care less. All he knew was that Seren was going out on a date on Valentine's day. That was enough to sour his mood for the rest of the day into Friday.
Seren didn't seem to notice. She was focused on looking her best for the evening, covering up any of her hesitance to go out.
"I am confused," she heard Wanda's remark. She turned to see the young girl at her bedroom doorway, head tilted with eyes sparkling red. "Why do you say 'yes' to an agent you rejected when you would rather him be Steve?"
Seren sighed heavily. "Can you please get out of my head?"
"I tried," Wanda raised her hands in front of her. "But you're so loud tonight."
"Shouldn't you be out with Vision already?"
"In a bit," Wanda nodded. "Why don't you just tell him the truth? I read his mind too sometimes—"
"Stop!" Seren exclaimed. "I don't want to hear anything from his head. Violation of privacy! You only get away with it because you're young. And he likes you."
Wanda smiled. "But nowhere near as much as he likes you. Think about that when you go out tonight."
Seren would rather not because it just made her hopeful again.
~0~
The last thing Steve expected that evening was to get a call from Seren during what was supposed to be her date.
What was more is that she sounded lile she was crying.
"I'm so sorry, I tried calling somebody else but nobody picked up," she explained rapidly, her words almost sounded meshed.
"It's fine but what's going on? Are you hurt?" He asked her, anxiously waiting for her response.
"Sort of, yeah," she sniffed. "The guy, he never showed up. The place is crowded and I tripped and I think my ankle got sprained. I'll heal in a couple of hours but I can't walk that well and the cabs are—"
"Seren, breathe," he had to cut her off or else she really would run out of air. "I'll be there quick, I promise." As soon as he had the place, he left the compound.
Rage coursed through his body at the idea that this man had left Seren in a restaurant as a trick. Who the hell did that? Who would do that to Seren of all people!?
He had to calm down even more when he found her leaning against the wall with her bad ankle. She had incredible healing but it still took time. She needed to put the ankle to rest!
Seren was overtly grateful that he'd come for her. She still apologized profusely for interrupting his night.
"I wasn't doing anything," Steve helped her from the wall.
"I should've just stayed at home," she sniffed. "I would've avoided the humiliation. He didn't show up as revenge."
"What?" Steve must have heard her wrong. There was no way someone would—
"I got his text. I turned him down, he turns me down...on Valentine's day." Seren leaned on him when he pulled her into a hobble of a walk. "Crazy world."
"Seren, I'm so sorry." Steve had to control his voice, make sure the strain of it wasn't so obvious because all he wanted to do right now was find the damn guy and, well, kill him.
"I think you're my favorite person right now—no, I'm sure of it. Can we please go home?"
"Of course." Steve wrapped an arm around her waist and helped her walk. On the way home, she explained the story of how exactly things happened and what led her to her sprained ankle. The more Steve heard, the more inclined he was to change course from home to wherever the hell this guy lived. The only thing keeping him from doing it was Seren. She was feeling terrible after such a night and the only thing she wanted now was to go home.
"I'm sorry for interrupting your night," she apologized yet again when they were in the compound. Steve helped her make her way to the couch.
"It's fine, I already told you that I wasn't doing anything anyways." He slipped a cushion under her ankle, ignoring (or at least trying) the heat in his cheeks when he touched her bare ankle. Despite spending a good amount of time outside in the chilly air, her skin was warm.
"You really didn't have anything planned?" Seren stared at him oddly.
He was surprised to see her calculating him. "You think I was lying?" he asked in surprise.
"Well not 'lying' but, I don't know, I thought maybe you just didn't want to say anything." Seren had gone about it at least a dozen times since she asked him about his plans yesterday. Maybe he was just trying to be polite and keep some of his life a secret from her. He was completely allowed to...
Steve smiled at her. "Seren, you should know by now my night life isn't all that, uh, active."
"I don't know, someone like you? Hard to believe, that's all."
"What?" Steve laughed.
Seren flushed and decided to look at her lap and keep quiet before she said something else. The night was already terrible, there was no point in making it worse by saying something that would out her.
Steve misinterpreted her silence for what he was sure had to be one of the worst experiences in her life. He hated seeing her like that. She looked incredible in her white dress and bright red coat. He could smell her sweet perfume too. He would've loved to have been the one to take her out.
"Seren?" He gently called her name.
Her eyes picked up from her lap. "Hmm? Sorry, I'm not very good company right now. You should just go do something else."
"The only thing I'm going to do is go into the kitchen and bring you some ice." Steve pointed her to stay in her spot, earning a small chuckle because, really, how would she go anywhere right now? He left her for a moment to retrieve the ice. He went through the drawers to look for a rag to wrap around the ice when he came across a few things that he thought might help raise Seren's spirits. After all, it was just them for the night. It definitely wasn't a date but he could pretend that it was something similar to it.
Seren had taken her coat off when he returned and, to his surprise, her legs were no longer on the couch.
"You got up," he accused her and had all the evidence in front of him to make the case.
She smiled innocently at him. "I just wanted you to sit with me." She'd gotten a stool in front of her and placed the cushion over it to then rest her ankle.
Well, she was making things easier for him that was for sure. Steve gave her a look for the little stunt but still handed her the ice pack. A second later she heard the microwave ding.
"Are you making something?" she asked. She sniffed the air a couple times before she realized what it was. "Popcorn!"
"I just thought you'd like to watch a movie or something..." Steve weakly explained. The idea was suddenly worse than he remembered it earlier. "If you don't want to—"
"I want to!" Seren was quick to say. She felt her cheeks blush when she thought that maybe she'd answered too fast. She endeavored to calm herself so Steve wouldn't notice. "I mean...that'll be nice."
"Great, I'll go get the popcorn!" Steve made a quick trip back to the kitchen. He had to stop himself getting so excited before he had to go back. It wasn't a date, it wasn't anything!
But it was also Valentine's day and it was just them. He couldn't help but just dream a little.
~ 0 ~
Seren convinced him that a movie called Groundhog Day would be good to watch. It came out in the early 90s so he missed out by a long shot. They sat together on the couch and in no time Seren had snuggled up to Steve. It was hard remembering how to breathe when she was practically on him. Only her sprained ankle kept her slightly away.
"What did you guys used to do for Valentine's back then?" She suddenly asked midway through the movie. Steve didn't hear her at first—he'd been trying to focus just on the movie and not the soft rhythm of her heartbeat against him. She tilted her head up to him, lips pulled into a soft smile for him. "I'm curious."
"When aren't you?" he countered, earning a chuckle from her. "You know I didn't do much for the day. I always helped Bucky pull some stunt for whatever girl he had around those days. But it was pretty much like what everyone does today. Dinner. Flowers. The cards. Those big bears seem to be just as expensive as they were back then."
Seren laughed. "They're ridiculous. Some of them are bigger than me."
"To be fair, many things are bigger than you," Steve quipped, smirking at her when she gasped incredulously.
"I expect that type of comment from Tony, not you!" She huffed and looked away, crossing her arms to complete the look.
"I'm sorry." He tried pulling her back to him but she swatted his hands away from her. He caught one of her wrists and realized her skin had gone cold. "You want a blanket?"
"What?" She blinked. They were in the middle of what promised to be a good banter.
"I'll go get one," Steve decided and got up before she could say anything.
She smiled after him. He was always so thoughtful. Stop! You can't get carried away!
"Ah, still troubled," she heard Wanda say, startling the hell out of her in the process. By the time Vision went through the couch, Seren was over the shock.
"You two are supposed to be gone for longer!"
"I thought it was too cold for Wanda," Vision said, motioning to the dress Wanda was in.
The ginger moved around the couch, revealing a plastic box full of heart-shaped cookies. "You should definitely let yourself get carried away."
Seren's face was flat. "Stop reading my mind!"
Wanda smiled and merely deposited the box of cookies on Seren's lap. "We'll get out of your hair. Come on, Vis."
"What is this movie?" Vision cocked his head at the screen.
"We can watch it another day," Wanda dragged him by the arm. "Hi Steve," she greeted the man on the way into the hallway.
"Wanda? Aren't you—"
"Don't worry, we won't disturb you!" Wanda winked at him, leaving him quite red.
Stop reading my mind! He shouted inside, hoping that Wanda heard him loud and clear. He returned to the living room and saw Seren chowing down on a heart-shaped cookie. She stopped when she saw him, her crumb-filled lips smiling at him. "Let me guess, Wanda and Vision?"
"Mhm!" Seren nodded, swallowing down before she spoke. "They're sugar cookies with the red sprinkles! They're so good!"
Steve laughed. "Right. Here." He draped the blanket over her lap.
"Take a cookie!" She offered him the box when he sat down. "I always remember having these when I was a kid."
"Really?" Steve mused. "Were they your favorite?" Something to jot down for the next year.
"Here!" Seren offered him a bite out of her own cookie.
Steve raised an eyebrow at her. It wasn't often they shared food and even then it was always simple things like candy in a bag or something he could just easily pick from. Still, Seren didn't seem to be thinking much of it so why should he? He leaned closer and took a bite like she offered. His eyes never left hers which helped her get away with her blush.
"How is it?" she asked quietly. Breathing became hard again. Even her eyes started flickering down to his lips. They had to be even sweeter now with the sugar from the cookie. Just one little movement and she could press a little kiss on him.
"Really good," he answered after swallowing. "I can see why they're your favorite."
"Mhm." She bit her bottom lip and turned her attention to the ongoing movie. She couldn't trust herself right now. "Let's, uh, watch the movie..."
"Sure," he nodded and made himself comfortable again.
Within the half hour, the cookies had finished and the box was discarded to the floor. Seren had found her spot with him, head resting on is chest with her arm splayed over his stomach. Steve felt the exact moment when she fell asleep. Her breathing changed and her weight resting on him increased. She was completely comfortable with him and that had his heart swelling. She didn't do this with anybody else, he knew for sure. It was hard not to be a little hopeful when things like this happened.
He couldn't bring himself to disturb her sleep to take her into her room. It wasn't hard to admit to himself that he wanted to keep her with him either. The movie had finished but he switched channels. What was he watching? He had no idea. He didn't care. He moved an arm over Seren's body and pulled the blanket higher over her shoulder. Her dress was beautiful but she deserved to be warm too. He even dropped a kiss to her bright ginger hair. Who would know?
It was only when she started shifting later on that he decided it was time to call it a night. As much as he wanted to keep her with him, she was getting to the point where she needed her bed instead. He began untangling his arm from her and her body from him but she groaned at him.
"Don't move," she murmured.
His eyebrows raised in surprise. "You need to rest," he said, presuming she was way more asleep than awake.
"I am." She brought her arm from his stomach to his shoulder.
"I think your bed would be more comfortable," he chuckled.
"You don't have a clue of what I want," she retorted with a slight edge in her tone. He paused. Now that sounded more awake. "How could you be this smart and yet so clueless?"
Definitely more awake. Steve pulled her arm from his shoulder, gently forcing her to sit more up at least to look at her. "Seren, are you alright?"
"I was," she shrugged. "And then I had a quick dream." She yawned and pulled the blanket tighter around her. "You were there..."
"I was?"
"Mhm. My date tonight was you. I wasn't stood up because you would never do that to me. And then you bought me a heart-shaped cinnamon roll. We shared it."
"W-we did?" Steve stuttered, flush blooming over his face. His heart was starting to race under his chest. "Uh, well, that..."
Seren chewed on her bottom lip. She was completely awake now and with lucidness came the fear of what she'd done. Her dream had been so sweet, so much better than reality. Everything would be better if she was with him. She would want nothing more than to have it be her reality. "I know what I said," she whispered, "I know it's weird—I'm weird being, you know, not human and all. You don't like me that way, I know."
"Wait a second," Steve pointed at her, eyes wide yet there was a little more hope coming to him. "You don't know what I want either."
"Huh?"
"You're pretty smart too, Seren. Connect the dots, won't you?" He encouraged her with a smile to just think. It was suddenly so easy and he couldn't stop the excitement that was crawling over him—he wouldn't stop it this time!
"You would...actually want...?" Seren shook her head. Unlike him, it being this easy was too hard to believe. "No, you don't have to play along."
"I will never play you, Seren. Do you know how much I get from everyone else for not telling you the truth?"
"If this is real then I'm pretty sure no more than me," she admitted. "Wanda won't stop reading my thoughts."
"And Natasha won't leave me alone!"
Seren brought her hand to her cheek. "So...you...we've been going insane for no reason?"
Steve nodded his head. "It would seem so." Maybe he owed Natasha an apology here and there.
Seren couldn't believe her ears. "Maybe this Valentine's day wasn't all that terrible then..."
Steve chuckled. "Maybe not," he agreed. He leaned down pretty quick but he caught himself and stopped, startling her with the actions. "Can I—can I kiss you?"
Seren's heart fluttered. Her lips pulled into a soft smile. "Yeah." Steve leaned closer again but was surprised when Seren placed a finger against his lips. He blinked in surprise, and a slight fear that things were wrong. "Happy Valentine's day," she whispered, pulling her finger off his lips.
"Happy Valentine's day," he murmured in return, finally kissing her afterwards.

Nominated by @wingedcatninja
Static (series) by @peridottea91
peridottea91 is going to single-handedly convert me to like series. I just re-read this gem and had to share it. In another life, she could have been a writer on the show, she’s so good at getting the characterization right for our boys. This OC, too, is an intiguing, layered personality that adds an extra dimension of mystery. And the whole story is perfectly woven in with canon. Two thumbs up. A must read.
Wish (oneshot) by @thoughtslikeaminefield
It’s just a drabble, but it made me feel so many things in so few words. I don’t even know what to say about it, other than it’s brilliant and if you love Dean Winchester, you have to read it.
Bad Medicine (oneshot) by @deanwandamons
This was lovely, and hot, and it made me giggle.
Nominated by @risingphoenix761
Because You’re Worth It (oneshot) by @thoughtslikeaminefield
I love a good crack fic, and I love some good Samwena content, so this is right up my alley. And a great mix of funny and fluffy!
Kings Don’t Kneel (oneshot) by @slytherkins
Few things in fic give me as much joy as Tara writing Crowley, and she hits all my favorite spots in under a thousand words. Struggling with emotion is hard enough for an unfeeling demon, but grief and loss–and the pain of knowing those emotions are unacknowledged–are enough to bring anyone to their knees. Beautiful and succinct, and all the angst!
Nominated by @peridottea91
Heaven (oneshot) by @evansrogerskitten
This fic is so beautifully written and just really captures Dean’s personality while still smacking you in the face with the most amazing “and then I saw her” moment!! Best still my heart!!! And the whole SamxEileen subplot!! The whole fic is just *chef’s kiss*
Nominated by @impala-dreamer
The Sun (oneshot) by @crashdevlin
It’s just amazingly beautiful. Short, sweet, and full of wonderful emotion. I loved every single word.
Nominated by anonymous
Dive In With Me (oneshot) by @sp-oops
This was a gorgeous, genuine account of the reader and Sam finally, FINALLY crossing that hurtle.
Coming Home (oneshot) by @there-must-be-a-lock
Lou builds us a story with such detail and precise ache that we forget to breathe. She teaches Dean, repeatedly, that he deserves to be happy.
Shackled (series) by @itmighthavebeenintentional
Val started her Demon!Dean x OFC series like a building storm. Miriam Bard is a fellow hunter, another older sibling with more internal demons than she cares to name. Sam calls her in on an old favor. Before long she doesn’t know if anything is real or who she can trust. Dark fic, so good!
Shattered Breaths (oneshot) by @dontshootmespence
Nicole dove deep for this kink bingo fill, and it is well worth every word. See how the Omega reader learns to trust the Winchesters and just what it takes for them to give up protecting themselves and lean into possibility.
Nominated by @the-girl-who-runs-with-winchesters
Devil May Care (oneshot) by @becs-bunker
This was such an interesting plot idea and amazing storytelling. Not that I had expected anything less from this talented author, of course.
Rough Ride (oneshot) by @luci-in-trenchcoats
A fun quick and very heated oneshot that made me smile at the end :)
All About Lovin’ You (oneshot) by @deanwanddamons
You know me, I can never let a month pass without diving into some angst, nor can I resist praising a fellow guppy for their amazing work. And this one’s got both! I got sucked in right from the start. It goes from heartbreaking to heartwarming, and from hot right back to sweet.
It’s About Time (oneshot) by @sorenmarie87
I randomly came across this one and it made me smile so much. Probably one of the most inventive ways to play matchmaker that I’ve heard so far.
Nominated by @dontshootmespence
For Better or For Worst (series) by @stusbunker
She does intrigue like no one else and doesn’t get the love she deserves!
Marked (series) by @there-must-be-a-lock
This is so fucking vivid it's ridiculous. There's smut, there's angst, there's sweetness and it's all maddeningly good.
Nominated by @negans-lucille-tblr
Desire (onsehot) by @princessmisery666
This fic is the very definition of smangst and I loved every second of it. The fact Stacey claims she can’t write smut baffles me when I read this fic 😍
Dirty Little Secret (series) by @pink1031
Whenever I’m asked what my all time favourite fic is it’s this one. I didn’t read rpf before this but it pulled me in and I’m so glad it did! It was just incredible and gave me my obsession with the idea of dating J2.
Nominated by @lovetusk
Me Likey & We are real (oneshots) by @impala-dreamer
They were both fantastic and on point. Drunk Dean is a rare and beautiful sight, and there’s nothing I love more than comforting a down and out Sammy. Well done.
Nominated by @impalaimagining
Currently Thinking About Jensen... (oneshot) by @negans-lucille-tblr
This is such a short and effective little piece of smut. The way it teeters on the edge of absolutely and filthily inappropriate puts it on a whole new level of dirty. I am a huge fan of last-line punches to the face no matter what the genre is, and that’s exactly what this is. It leaves you begging for more in the most desperate way. It’s a quick read but it gets the job done.
Midnight Confessions (oneshot) by @katymacsupernatural
I love the way this fic has the reader second guessing herself even though she has no recollection of doing anything to upset the guys. I’m always here for an appearance from Sam to push his stubborn brother and their bunkmate in the right direction. Admittedly, I am a sleep-talker, and I’ve said my fair share of embarrassing things (including yelling at my husband about wanting a grilled cheese at 3am), but if I could just once have something I said in my sleep get me a kiss from Dean Winchester? Hell yes.
Nominated by @deanwinchesterswitch
Coming Home (oneshot) by @there-must-be-a-lock
This is a beautiful heart wrenching story showcasing Dean’s desire for love and need affection and how few times he actually receives it. Denying himself of what he needs, until he doesn’t.
Unspoken (oneshot) by @deanscherrypie
A wonderful little drabble about how Dean lets you know he loves you without saying anything at all. Such a beautiful line… “All his broken pieces matched yours with mosaic complexity, and somehow you found a new kind of home within each other.”
Don’t Need An Excuse (oneshot) by @amanda-teaches
A beautifully crafted story from Dean’s POV about his girl and the tender loving moments in time that couples share. And, damn that ending, my poor heart.
Nominated by @there-must-be-a-lock
Anything And Everything (oneshot) by @rockhoochie
This fic honestly just took my breath away. You can feel the longing and wistfulness, and the writing is superb. There’s so much depth and detail here, it feels real and vibrant and lived-in, in a way that very few fics do. AND I love she writes Dean’s POV.
He Is, Therefore I am (oneshot) by @stusbunker
All I can say about this one is BROTHERS BEING BROTHERS. It's totally stream-of-consciousness, and it really does feel like you're in their heads.
Leaving Heaven (series) by @thoughtslikeaminefield
Such a badass, snarky narrator with a distinctive voice, and her Demon Dean is dark and awful and sexy as hell, and there's so much depth and nuance in their interactions.
Golden Hour (oneshot) by @fangirlxwritesx67
It's straight-up wish fulfillment, fluffy comforting goodness, and I think everybody needs a little bit of that in their lives right now.
Nominated by @princessmisery666
The Question (oneshot) by @girl-next-door-writes
Death by fluff and it was so worth it !! This was perfect, of course Sam has some grand plan to propose and of course it doesn’t go to plan but ended up perfect anyway!! Was fun and sweet, loved it!!
Carry On (oneshot) by @kittenofdoomage
I love Rhi. I swear everything she writes, even AU’s, could be canon!! Characterizations are always on point, stories are engaging and make me feel something every time. This one is no exception. If I could I would send it to the writers to show them this is how the show should end!!
Kings Don’t Kneel (oneshot) by @slytherkins
A small drabble from Tara and as always it gave me all the feels. It could be canon, if anyone asks me I will tell them this is exactly how Crowley felt. This made me sad and I totally wanted to hug Crowley and tell him it would all be okay.
Nominated by @thoughtslikeaminefield
Cocky (oneshot) by @stusbunker
Sexy, fun, and real. I love your Dean, Stuie!
Golden Hour (oneshot) by @fangirlxwritesx67
Comforting and cozy and swoony!
Nominated by @littlehotmess26
Until The Day I Die Again (oneshot) by @fictionalabyss
Mel writes Dean x Benny amazingly and this fic is one of my favorites.

While You Sleep (oneshot) by @foreverwayward
A heartwarming little fic about Dean living the domesticated life we all wish for him. The writer has a very clever way of storytelling and the end might come as a surprise, only adding to the emotion it already brought along.
Findings (seires) by @kathaswings
This is one of my favorite series out there and I revisited it recently. The overall story arc is a mystery I just had to unravel and I couldn’t put it down if I wanted to. The bond between Dean and Mackenzie is so precious. Writing a child isn’t easy. I’ve read plenty of books and seen plenty of films in which the maturity that was added wasn’t natural, but this author handles the Mac’s dialogue amazingly well. What’s also interesting is the jumps from point of view between Dean and Y/N, giving very personal perspectives on the gripping story.
Heartbeats (oneshot) by @there-must-be-a-lock
I’ll start by saying that I don’t ship Dean and Cas together, but I do appreciate the people who do. What this little piece of art does is incredible, however, because while I was reading, I found myself rooting for them. The writer does a great job by using the literal human heart as a backbone of this story. Intriguing and very well executed.
Everything That’s Yet To Come (oneshot) by @fictionalabyss
The author took me by the hand through this moving little one shot, which feels like a collection of greatest hits and wishes come true. It offers peace and closure not only for the older Winchester brother, but for the reader as well. Beautiful piece of writing.
Take A Drunk Girl Home (oneshot) by @amanda-teaches
Dean taking care of others; it’s his nature and shows what a kind soul he truly is. The situation sketched here is no exception, and it’s softer than one can imagine. The pace is steady and the balance between fluff and comedy is just right. A lovely read.
The Demon Inside Of You (oneshot) by @foreverwayward
Curing Dean from the demon that he has become proves to be difficult when he’s so hard to resist. What else is hard to resist, is this beautiful pitch black one shot. I don’t read Demon!Dean fiction often, because it still feels foreign to see the character that I love so much turn into something so evil. This however, is so gripping and well written, that the darkness swallows up the beholder. Rough, hot, sad, narcissistic, all these ingredients packed up in one hell of a story.
Curves And Edges (oneshot) by @kittenofdoomage
This equally sweet, sexy, funny and sad story is a big shout out to all women who think they don’t meet the beauty standards and feel like they will never be good enough to get noticed. It is one thing to replace a name with Y/N and call it a reader’s insert; it’s a gift to make every person reading this feel like they are the character in this story. The author handles every woman’s insecurities with grace, making her words both relatable and soothing. Her spot on version of Dean reminds us that we are beautiful, desired and unique.
Watch Your Fcking Mouth (oneshot) by @impala-dreamer
Dean falls under a frustrating curse, and it’s the most fun I’ve had in a long time. I was wheezing, couldn’t breathe and died laughing. It’s astonishing how the writer can juggle comedy and sex without the two ruling each other out. An uplifting read.
Life For Rent (series) by @winchest09
Conspiracies, deceit, crime. A strong family bond, blossoming love, oh, not to mention the sex. This series is intriguing beyond imagination and certainly not just another mobster fanfiction. The writing is smart and I could tell from the first paragraph that it’s loaded with hints and foreshadowing, but I couldn’t pick them out. This triggers a curiosity like an itch I can’t quite scratch away until I finish reading this story. And so I wait eagerly and drop everything the second a new chapter comes out. An absolute must read!
When You Least Expect It (series) by @coffee-obsessed-writer
Talking about an epic love story, but it’s so much more than that. The music that plays such an important factor, the setting that is Seaside. The fabulous supporting characters Bri, Rob, Jason and Jared, the wardrobe, not to mention the wonderful little gems and details that this author weaved into the story, showing how much love she has put into it. This is without a shadow of a doubt my favorite RPF I’ve come across.

The Unexpected (oneshot) by @impalaimagining
The desperation and neediness between characters is just…I can almost feel through the screen. And the gif at the top of the post is the closest thing to porn Tumblr allows now is HOT.
Criminal Love (series) by @kalesrebellion
This mob fic has a lot of things going for it: mob!Dean, big brother Benny (which I didn’t know I needed in my life, but apparently I do), mystery, and a unique way of incorporating a lot of familiar faces from the SPN world. It’s 6 chapters in and I am DYING to see what happens next because the last chapter left me shook!
Unplanned Parenthood (oneshot) by @erins-culinary-service
This fic makes me long for more canon dad!Dean because he’s just so good at it and it feels like it would fit in so well. The author nailed the family vibes and I love that she found a way to make it canon plausible (something I just can’t seem to grasp in my own writing); well done, doll.
Changes (series) by @katehuntington
This fic is super unique as it is like a series rewrite, but rather than using “Pilot, Wendigo, Dead in the Water” etc., Kate is writing her own episodes! Episode 1 just wrapped up, with my personal favorite being part 10 because the characterization of both Winchester brothers felt so spot on to me. Zoe, the amazing OFC and star of this fic, might be the coolest person ever and I wish she was my best friend. Heads up though, this is not your CW Supernatural; it’s darker, dirtier, and probably a lot closer to what the Winchesters’ lives are actually like.

The Man on the Side of the Road (seires) by @supernatural-jackles
This is a seriously awesome Dean AU fic! Both Dean and the reader have so much baggage, but they’re working together to fix each other and it’s just BEAUTIFUL. It’s a series, and I can’t wait to see how it ends!!!

Never Alone Again (oneshot) by @dissect-me
This author was kind enough to take the time to write about a recent trauma I discovered happened to me as a child and how Dean would react/comfort me. It’s powerful and really helped me. ❤️

Laissez Les Bons Temp Rouler (oneshot) by @thoughtslikeaminefield
M is the kind of author that is the reason you have the “four recs per author” rule because otherwise I would just be submitting her entire masterlist every month. For a talent like MJ, all it takes is a photo to spark an entire story. This photo of Jensen was particularly inspiring, and MJ did it justice. Hot, drunk, sexy, just UGH.
Where Is My Shiny Gun (oneshot) by thoughtslikeaminefield
Do you love Dean? Do you love Donna? Do you love Sam? Does your mouth water and your knees go weak just a little thinking about all 3 of them together? Do you need some generous, consensual, sunshiney, smutty love? Then check this out.
Leaving Heaven (series) by thoughtslikeaminefield
Demon Dean meets his match in the most compelling OFC I’ve ever read, bounty hunter Tazi. Where to start with this series? MJ works some of her best magic yet, seamlessly weaving the story into the show we know so well. Her Dean is brilliant, as always, every supporting character spot on. The action is tight, the murder wrenching, the sex smoking. And as good as it is, as perfect as Dean and Sam are, as impatient I am for every chapter .. I would read it all just for Tazi. Tazi is an OFC worthy of novelization: tough, sarcastic, sexy, and fully realized. She’s so beautiful and broken that you can’t help falling in love with her as you read. If I could ask everyone to read just one SPN FF ever, it would be this one.
Three Bad Ideas (series) by @there-must-be-a-lock
She’s just getting started on her Everything prequels but, by every indicator they will be JUST as filthy as the original, with even more emotional depth and character development. Frankly it’s HOT and heartbreaking and her voice for Jared is so, so good, and so is Jensen, and I’m just all over this love story. I screamed at her when she published, that if I didn’t know what came next, I would be HEARATBROKENED (that’s how excited I got, that I forgot how to speak.)
Ocean Eyes (oneshot) by @there-must-be-a-lock
The ocean is my Happy Place and I’m a sucker for Sam so this fic just hit all my sweet spots. A lot of us are looking for comfort fics right now and this is uniquely heartwarming.
Shackled (series) by @itmighthavebeenintentional
I KNOW this was nominated last month but there are more chapters and it just keeps getting better! For every question that the story answers, it asks two more. Also, it’s started getting smutty and whoooooooo boy.
Anything And Everything (oneshot) by @rockhoochie
I don’t even remember why this lovely lady was asking for prompts but I sent one that I think was, listening to records, first kiss. I had long since forgotten when she dropped this 8K word MASTERPIECE on all of us.
It’s such a sweet in-character Dean, but a relaxed side of Dean that he deserves and we don’t really get to see. It’s soft and sensual and just… you can feel it while you read.

Sex Ed (oneshot) by @cleighwrites
This is a type of wincest I’m not sure I’ve experienced before, but I can say without a doubt that I fucking love it! It’s your classic little brother Sammy looking up to Dean. It’s the show. It’s their relationship to a T, but with that little bit of helplessness that makes Sam feel like such a fucking kid! I don’t even know if my normal wincest loving self would call this actual Wincest, but wherever it falls on the radar, it’s wonderful!
Passion (oneshot) by @bohowitch
This is poetry in motion, just like Sam is. This is a beautiful, firery, perfect ode to all that is Sam Winchester!
Neptune Rising (oneshot) by @atc74
This is such a clever and refreshing AU! I don’t think I’ve ever read one like this and both characters are nuanced in such believable ways. It’s not too long, so you should definitely take a sec to check it out!
Shackled (series) by @itmighthavebeenintentional
What can I say about this series other than HOLY FUCK!! It’s got twists and turns and secrets and guilt and worry and drama and excitement and passion and fucking everything you want in a good, juicy, keep you on the edge of your seat kind of story!
There’s a feral brutality to the way she portrays Demon!Dean in this that is actually scary and makes me nervous in real life. I find myself looking around the room when I read this, pulling my feet in from off the side of the couch as if this version of Deanmon is gonna snatch me up if I’m not careful. It’s intense and SO. DAMN. COMPELLING. And it’s not even a fucking reader insert. I find myself worrying about Miriam (the ofc) at random parts of the day long after I’ve finished reading the latest chapters...
This series is a fucking MUST READ!
Celibacy, Interrupted (oneshot) by @thoughtslikeaminefield
Any fic with Jody x a Winchester is my jam, but this one is like, no bullshit, just fantastic interaction and sultry, perfect ‘smut’. Goddamn. This leaves me in a pile of goo not even for myself, but FOR JODY!
Let Go (oneshot) by @luci-in-trenchcoats
So bdsm seems to have been a theme in my life for the past month and I don’t know why, but this fucking fits the bill. I recently dodged a bullet with a ‘dom’ (read: a bossy guy who wanted nudes who ignored care and consent) and this fic is like, the complete opposite of what I experienced. I’ve read and done research and talked to enough people to know what real bdsm looks like and that saved me, and this fic only reinforces that proper bdsm lifestyle.
It’s gentle yet firm, and it forces you to let go of control even when you feel like you HAVE to hold onto it. That force caught me off guard when I read it, but it makes so much sense, and every aspect of this really, truly is well thought out and spot on, good, caring bdsm. If you’re interested in it, this is a great place to start your reading and research!
When 2 Is Better Than 1 (oneshot) by @wi-deangirl77
Not only is the smut fucking glorious in this, but Ketch’s gentle nature is 100% what makes this for me! I’m not used to reading him as gentle or caring and having him work with Dean in this to help the reader, not to fill his own needs, but truly coming at it from a place of care and worry, melts me into a pile of gooey feels.
Thank you all for the awesome work and great feedback!
These are not actual awards! This system is set up so everyone in the pond has a chance to share the love and promote a fic/author that has grabbed your attention. The more people that participate, and the more everyone remembers to submit their own fics after posting, the better this will be :D
THANK YOU ALL AGAIN, KEEP UP THE AMAZING WORK, AND AS ALWAYS, HAPPY WRITING!

CHANGING OF THE GUARD
________________________________________________________________
A metaphorical reading of Sherlock BBC, The Sign of Three (and beyond)
The beginning of Sherlock BBC, The Sign of Three, really leaves no doubt what the theme of its story is about. When the eye of the camera zooms slowly in on Speedy’s and the famous black door with the number 221 in Baker Street, it seems to take it’s path right through a literal wood of pointy, black spears. Fences built of iron spears that guard the place..
It starts with a row of spears in the forground. When those get blurry, even more spears from midfield move into focus. Finally the camera reveals spears also in the background. That makes three levels of spears, one might say.
Three levels of spears stand like guardians in front of 221b Baker Street. Could those three levels symbolize the three stabbing victims of The Sign of Three? After all, each one of the three characters is depicted as guard, as protector ... and each one of them gets stabbed.
TBC below the cut ...
Stephen Bainbridge
He is a Private in the Household Guard of the Queen. The Grenadier Guards is an infantry regiment of the British Army. The current regiment is known as the 1st Regiment of Foot Guards … ’Every foot soldier bears the mark’ (Soo Lin, TBB). How surprising is it that the ‘East’ zooms in on Bainbridge before he gets stabbed by Jonathan Small?
Also … the gesture of the woman is interesting. Two Vs make a W (or a M … depends on the turning). It also lets me think of Culverton Smith’s W-gesture in TLD, in the short clip with the man disguised as cock (x).
Modern Grenadier Guardsmen wear a cap badge of a "grenade fired proper" with seventeen flames (x). Foot soldiers linked to exploding grenades … what a lovely coincidence, especially regarding the ‘passions’ grenade from TFP. :)
When the changing of the guards takes place, Bainbridge is already wounded and slowly dying. He got stabbed before the changing.
The name Stephen is of Greek origin and means ‘crown’ and ‘that which surrounds’. Saint Stephen was stoned to death and is regarded as the very first Christian martyr.
Another little detail caught my attention as well. Just a word used twice to describe a person.
SHERLOCK: “Elite Guard.” JOHN: Forty enlisted men and officers. SHERLOCK: Why this particular Grenadier? Curious.
And in TRF Sherlock sais:
SHERLOCK: This little boy; this particular little boy ... who reads all of those spy books. What would he do? JOHN: He’d leave a sign?
Max Bruhl left a sign. Stephen Bainbridge wrote a note. Not much of a difference, I think.
Guardsmen Max and Claudette
James Sholto
He is a retired Major of the Fifth Northumberland Fusiliers and Captain John Watson’s old commanding officer. A decorated war hero but not to everyone. Something went wrong when he led a team of new recruits into battle. ‘They all died’ (just like AGRA). Major Sholto, badly wounded, was the only survivor. Press and families gave him hell. Deaththreats and hate almost turned him into a recluse, into a most unsociable man, who spends his retirement way out in the middle of nowhere.
I’m quite sure this has been mentioned before, the 5th Northumberland Regiment on Foot (’foot soldiers’ too) still uses their ancient badge … St George killing the dragon (x) Every quiver of his beating heart
‘He destroyed us all’ … somehow these words sound very similar to the one Sherlock uses in TFP, in a situation where he considers himself to be a soldier: ‘Five minutes. It took her just five minutes to do all of this to us. Well, not on my watch.’
As mentioned above, Mary’s dialogue in TST matches the description about the incident with Sholto’s recruits almost identically … something went wrong’/’but it went wrong’ … ‘I was the only one who made it our’/’they all died; he was the only survivor’. And Mary considered AGRA to be her family ... ‘we were family’.
Major John Sholto is an original character from ACDs novel The Sign of Four. His sons are called Thaddeus and Bartholomew. The renaming of the Major’s first name - from John to James - must have been a deliberate choice. A choice which is reflected in the skip code of TEH ‘John or James Watson … saint or sinner ... James or John’, as well as in John Watson’s middle name … Hamish (Scottish for James).
Major Sholto’s room number is ‘two oh seven’. This reminds me of the ‘double oh seven’ codeword for the ‘flight of the dead’ in ASIB. Two and double …. both means 2. Sure, the number on the door reads 207 but then, it happens several times in this story, that things told and things shown are sometimes not quite the same or vis versa.
When the wedding guests leave the church and the reception takes place, Sholto is already wounded and slowly dying. He has been stabbed before.
Sherlock investigates the cases of both guardians
Bainbridge’s note reaches him sometime during the wedding preparations. John and Sherlock arrive just in time to save Private Bainbridge’s life. The case though remains unsolved.
Without knowing it at the time, Sherlock investigates Sholto’s case during John’s stag night. They call the investigation of the ghost-man the ‘Mayfly Man’ case. It remains also unsolved.
Sherlock includes both unsolved cases into his best man speech at John’s wedding and here at last, all the puzzle pieces fall into place and Sherlock is able to solve both cases, which are closely related. As a consequence Major Sholto’s life can be saved as well.
The person responsible for the attempts to kill Private Bainbridge and Major Sholto is:
Jonathan Small
‘Brilliant, ruthless, almost certainly a monomaniac - though, in fairness, his photographs are actually quite good’ … that’s how Sherlock describes the killer. Small’s motive is revenge. He is convinced that Major Sholto is responsible for the death of Small’s brother Peter, who had been among the killed recruits. It seems that Private Bainbridge merely had the misfortune and got randomly chosen for the rehearsal of Sholto’s murder. But ... why this particular 'foot soldier’? (I’ll come back to that question later)
Jonathan Small grins like Jim Moriarty and wears a checkered shirt like John. He is a brilliant, ruthless monomaniac and obviously also a womaniizer who has no problems to woo half a dozen women, almost at the same time, into telling him well-kept secrets. Basically … a perfect blend of Jim Moriarty and traditional John ‘three continents’ Watson.
Like Major Sholto, Jonathan Small too is an original character from ACDs novel The Sign of Four. His name has not been changed. Only together with his female and not-canon counterpart Janine, Mary’s bridesmaid, who seems to be a lovely blend of Irene and Jim, the name chosen for the antagonist of this episode, appears to gain a special significance.
Janine - deiminutive of Jeanne, female form of John … ‘little Johnny’
Jonathan - diminutives are Jon, Jonni ... though not related to ‘John’ regarding the meaning of the name, it can still be heard as … ‘little Jonny’ (’You can talk, Johnny-boy. Go ahead.‘ Jim, TGG)
None other than ‘little Jo(h)nny’ (the H makes the difference) is responsible for the almost murder of Private Bainbridge and Major Sholto, the first two stabbing victims of this episode.
‘Little Johnny’ also happens to be another word for penis … the ‘meat dagger’.
Who’s the third ‘victim’ then?
Mary Elizabeth Morstan
She is a character full of surprises who starts as a simple nurse who marries John Watson in TSOT. Among Sherlock’s deduction-word-cloud in TEH the term ‘guardian’ can be found and only one episode after the ‘wedding’, Sherlock outs her as facade … his very own facade, because the Empty Houses in Leinster Gardens, on whose front walls Mary’s face is projected, are Sherlock’s property.
Mary Elizabeth Morstan isn’t her real name either. It’s the name of a stillborn child from a gravestone in Chiswick Cementry. This connects her character to the other stillborn child of this story ... Rachel Wilson, the pink lady’s daughter from ASIP. The initials A.G.R.A. stand for Mary’s true name, she tells later … but soon this turns out to be incorrect as well. A.G.R.A. was a group of four undercover agents who worked for the British Government. Prior to her ‘retirement’ Mary had been a member of that group. Sherlock describes her as ‘super-agent with a terrifying skill set’. Based on the current status, her two first names are Rosamund Mary … the family name is still unknown (if there even is one).
Why should Mary be the third stabbing victim?
Readers of my theories will probably know that I’m playing for a long time now with a mind palace scenario which stretches from the beginning, most likely in PILOT (or even before) to the end of S4 (x). Back then I wondered ...
Is it really so farfetched to consider the possibility that Sherlock tries to deduce and solve the mysteries and problems of his own live - and his falling in love with John - at first in his mind? Before he comes out?
Over decades - since ACD - the story of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson has been told by the famous 'unreliable narrator’. Could it be that this time - with Sherlock BBC - the world will get the true story? Finally told by Sherlock himself? By looking right into his heart and mind and soul? By showing how his brilliant mind works? How his heart and soul expand and grow?
Would TPTB do such a thing? Stay in Sherlock’s mind over the span of multiple episodes? Follow his train of thought … show his evolution … in such a way? I don’t know. But it sounds thrilling to me. (Nov 2016)
Based on those early ideas I gradually came to the conclusion that Sherlock BBC tells the story of how Sherlock Holmes deduced his own persona. He does this the same way he investigates his criminal cases … by setting up scenarios in his mind and repeating those until he has found the correct solution (The Stage is set). Investigating his own case - the pink one - in such a way, would mean that all the characters which appear on Sherlock’s ‘mind stage’ represent different aspects of himself. Some of them may be based on real life persons, most of them are probably entirely created by Sherlock’s imagination. I like to compaire this process to a ‘mind journey’ or to a long (dramatic) dialogue, Sherlock holds with himself. This propably doesn’t happen during a dream or in a state of coma, as I thought back in 2016. A lot of time and thinking has gone by since then. Nowadays I presume that a conscious thinking process would fit better with the literal character Sherlock Holmes, whose deductions are always built on facts, science, reason and logic. It would be rather OOC that a man like Holmes would base an important, life changing decision on anything else than his razor sharp mind. Anyway, it’s just one of many theories.
Mary now … ever since I noticed the lot of similarities this character shares with Sherlock (x) my view on her started to change considerably. To me she isn’t the woman anymore who comes between Sherlock and John but instead the facade Sherlock Holmes created and married to his traditional, eternal friendship with John Watson for the sole purpose, to hide his romantic feelings and his sexual desire for the friend behind this protective wall. Mary is Sherlock’s facade, his guardian, his firewall … because:
John can’t ever know that I lied to him. It would break him and I would lose him forever – and I will never let that happen. Please … understand. There is nothing in this world that I would not do to stop that happening.
In my opinion, these are Sherlock’s own words and they express his fear of what might happen to the uinque friendship he shares with John, if the friend ever discovers the true nature of his feelings for him. Sherlock would do anything to stop that happening, even if this means that he has to incarcerate his emotions inside a high-security facility, behind elephant glass and chain his sexuality with iron bonds to a wall in a padded cell, like a hound from hell.
The ‘meat dagger’ incident
Sherlock tells the wedding guests - Major Sholto sits among them - about the unsolved Bainbridge case and asks if any of them has got a theory how that guard might have been stabbed. What kind of murderer can walk through walls, which weapon can vanish? Molly’s fiancé Tom (both characters are mirrors for John and Sherlock) assumes it could be a case of ‘attempted suicice by meat dagger’ ... something that would have been self administered.
A lot has been written since then about the ‘meat dagger’ as a metaphor for 'penis’ …. for ‘little Johnny’. :)
Sherlock sees only one feature of interest in the whole case … while he tried to solve the mystery, the eternal friend saved the life of the guard. And just the same happens a little while later with Major Sholto, the other guardian. It turns out that both men - both guardians - have been stabbed by the same killer … Jonathan Small … little Jonny, the meat dagger ....
There’s only one other character in this episode who has been stabbed unknowingly as well. That’s Mary. And in her case it’s indeed … ‘stabbed by meat dagger’ because Sherlock deduces her pregnancy by the end of the episode. Or expressed in computer language: the firewall has been penetrated by the virus.
The ‘father’ might be John or David, Mary’s ex. It doesn’t matter if one views the story metaphorically where all characters represent aspects of Sherlock himself. Going by his looks, David is clearly a mirror for John, while his history regarding the constant online observation of Mary, connects him to Mycroft, the brain. David seems to be a ‘blended’ mirror like Jonathan Small (John/Jim) or Janine (Irene/Jim). A mirror who represents the ongoing interest of the brain in the feelings hidden behind the facade.
When Sherlock marries John and Mary, he puts a guardian in front of his true feelings for the friend. He tries to ‘downgrade’ those feelings. And yet, Sherlock allows three ‘social ancounters a year’ but ‘always in John’s - the traditional friendship’s presence’. That sounds very much like the ‘calculated risk’ Mycroft takes with Eurus. Both ‘brothers’ seem to be ‘love-addicts’ in need of a fix, once in a while … when the burden of ‘holding oneself to a higher standard’, of ‘keeping oneself right’ gets too heavy … or too boring. In that case it could propably happen that one takes the frustration out on the wall … then the wall has it coming … :)
The moment of revelation
When Sherlock is blinded by the flashlight of ‘little Jo(h)nni’s’ camera, he suddenly realizes that the cases of Bainbridge and Sholto are connected. That the stabber has to be the same person. It’s the moment when the first domino piece falls and knocks over the next, and the next, and the next …. leading to a chain reaction of revelations at the end of which Sherlock knows without any doubt that his new facade had been penetrated again … this time though by a ‘kill shot’. He’d been hit by AMO (the perfect ammonition), fired by the crack shot that is his eternal friend. The seed of love has been laid without Sherlock noticing the ‘chink in his armour’ through which Cupid’s arrow hit home. Now love has taken root behind his facade and is growing.
The name chosen for that love is Rosamund - Rose of the world, as the dialogue in TST confirms. There’s a real rose of that name - Rosa Mundi - an old rose depicted in a work of Sandro Botticelli “Virgin Adoring the Sleeping Christ Child”. This rose is also known by the synonym ‘rosa versicolor’ - which means ‘rose of many or changing colours ... iridiscent’.
The word iridescence is derived in part from the Greek word ἶρις îris , meaning rainbow, It is the phenomenon of certain surfaces that appear to gradually change color as the angle of view or the angle of illumination changes. (X)
Sherlock - the ‘virgin’ he is called in ASIB by Jim and Irene - announces the pregnancy of Mary (I still wonder if this means that he is the 'Gabriel’ of A.G.R.A. - the angel who announces virgin Mary’s pregnancy). And during the stag night, John is labeled with ‘Madonna’. Another name for Virgin Mary. This turns the eternal friend also into the ‘virgin’, just like Sherlock and Mary. Another ‘sign of three’ one could say.
Three virgins - three novices - who will now start a new journey on a way they have never travelled before. Sherlock will finally encounter romantic love and accept it ‘it is what it is’, the facade will ‘get retired in a pretty permanent sort of way’ as the brain blatantly puts it in TST and the traditional ‘eternal’ friendship will have to change into a romantic-sexuell relationship. A morphing together of friendship and sex - John and James - would be a quite logical consequence, I guess.
In TST the little baby is christened with the name Rosamund, a name that can be traced back to ‘rainbow’ … Rosie for short. And rosy=pink!
‘Oh, what a night! ... I was never gonna be the same … I felt a rush like a rollin' ball of thunder spinnin' my head around n' takin' my body under’
No wonder this song has been chosen by the creators to accompany this scene. Overwhelmed by emotions - surprise, confusion, amazement, shock, joy, panic, uncertainty, concern, fear - Sherlock isn’t able anymore to carry on with this ‘wedding’ .... with this renewed ‘changing of the guard’. He walks away alone into the night. The case is solved. Sherlock is aware of what happened. Now he has to deal with the consequences. Should he really replace his guardian again or should he finally stop pretending, stop lying, drop the facade and confess his deepest secret?
Because if you tell them and they decide they’d rather not know, you can’t take it back. You can’t unsay it. Once you’ve opened your heart, you can’t close it again.
This confrontation, Sherlock fights with himself, becomes the centrepiece of the following episode (HLV) where Sherlock is completely torn into. One half of his being, still protected by the facade, is at war with the ... ‘other one’, the slowly increasing emotional side of him. But somewhere deep inside his mind he probably knows already that this is a war ‘he must lose’. And so Sherlock has to go deeper ...
TAB doesn’t only take Sherlock back to his literal roots. In this episode Sherlock investigates again two of the main threads of the story and ties them together through the ‘bride’ … FALL and HOUND. Mary, the facade, feels already ‘left behind’ and John, who represents Sherlock’s now fully acknowledged, tender feelings, directed at his friend ... ‘does grow up so fast’. The episode ends with Sherlock, who throws himself into a torrent of water=emotions and follows Jim Moriarty, Mr Sex, down the Reichenbach Fall … right into the emotional rollercoaster that is Series Four.
Like the investigation in TAB, this series runs backwards as well. TST repeats the events of S2 and S3 while TLD zooms in on S1. I persume this happens because Sherlock applies an ability he describes to Dr. Watson as ... ‘reasoning backwards’:
“In solving a problem of this sort, the grand thing is to be able to reason backwards. That is a very useful accomplishment, and a very easy one, but people do not practise it much. In the every-day affairs of life it is more useful to reason forwards, and so the other comes to be neglected. There are fifty who can reason synthetically for one who can reason analytically…Let me see if I can make it clearer. Most people, if you describe a train of events to them, will tell you what the result would be. They can put those events together in their minds, and argue from them that something will come to pass. There are few people, however, who, if you told them a result, would be able to evolve from their own inner consciousness what the steps were which led up to that result. This power is what I mean when I talk of reasoning backwards, or analytically.” (ACD A Study in Scarlet, Conclusion)
There’s one important change though, which will alter everything. Sherlock now adds baby Rosie, the pink seed of love, the AMO-factor, to his equation. As a consequence his mask, his facade - that what ‘thatched’ and guarded him - crumbles and falls. And Sherlock accepts the change … It is what it is.
Then, in TFP, the third episode of S4, Sherlock puts the results of his deductions under the sharp lens of his emotional core, for the ultimate experiment … the final distillation … to produce at last a clear solution. Still missing is the chemical reaction that should follow the application of that solution, one might say. :)
Back to the three ‘guardians’
My husband is three people
During the wedding preparations, John tries to interst Sherlock for this curious case. John says the sentence ‘my husband is three people’ twice, interupted only by this short dialogue:
SHERLOCK: Major James Sholto. Who he? MARY: Oh, John’s old commanding officer.
Taking John’s words ‘my husband is three people’ literally, then he is talking about his own husband … which will soon be Mary. Husband, not wife, because Mary represents an aspect of Sherlock, his facade, his cover ... his ‘thatch’. As mentioned above, when Sherlock marries John to Mary, he puts a guardian in front of his true feelings for the friend … one could also say …. he places a commander at their/his side. And this is exactly what Mary does in later episodes. She decides who mowes the lawn, chooses the name of the baby and that it is her to take John home and not vis versa.
Husbands can be equated with facades, with commanders, with guards. All of them serve as protectors and defenders of Sherlock’s true feelings for the friend.
Who could have been the first ‘husband’ … the first facade, the first guardian?
Neither of us were the first
This is what Mary tells Sherlock, while John welcomes his ‘privious’ commander. Is she really talking about sexuell experiences of her brand-new husband with another man, just to taunt Sherlock? Viewing the Mary-character as an aspect of Sherlock himself and not as a real wife that comes between two men, I heavily doubt this. Applying a metaphorical reading to the story, wouldn’t it be much more likely that this conversation is about their - Mary’s and Sholto’s - assigned profession. Neither of us were the first … guardian.
Mary is the husband to be, the most recently chosen facade, John’s new commanding officer, an undercover agent of the government.
Major James Sholto is John’s old commanding officer, Sherlock’s previous facade, which turned out to be not strong enough.
The only other guard in this story is Stephen Bainbridge, Private in the Household Guard of the Queen. The foot soldier named after Saint Stephen, the first martyrer.
And isn’t there somthing strikingly similar regarding those three guards as well as a noticeable increase in drama and strength, which so often happens when sequences are repeated on Sherlock’s mind stage?
Private Bainbridge guards the Queens Palace. The ‘East’ zoomes in on him, then he get’s stabbed by ‘little Jonny’ - the meat dagger - without noticing it. A changing of the guard takes place. Bainbridge almost dies beneath a shower of water.
Major Sholto guards the Queens country. He fights on a battlefield in the East beneath a burning hot sun. Something goes wrong and all the recruits under his command die. Badly wounded himself, Sholto has to leave the service and change into retirement. He gets stabbed by ‘little Jonny’ - the meat dagger - and almost dies.
Mary secretly works for Mycroft, the government, the ‘queen’ - as an undercover ‘super-agent with a terrifying skill set’. Her last operation took place in the East. Something went wrong and a lot of people died. It first looked as if Mary had been the only surviver (like Sholto). She marries ‘Johnny-boy’ Watson, gets stabbed by his meat dagger, becomes pregnant and …. dies not long after ‘PINK-RAINBOW-ROSIES’ birth.
The Sign of Three is about the ‘changing of the guard’. It takes place inside Sherlock’s head. But the marriage of John and Mary, that Sherlock arranges so heartbreakingly beautiful (and so strikingly yellow), turns out to be utterly pointless. Because the bride, the husband, the new commander, the facade is already pregnant ... had been stabbed before the wedding ... before the changing of the guard.
The Yellow Face connection
This isn’t new. It has been discussed before in this interesting meta About Yellow Face by @darlingtonsubstitution (sadly the part below the cut is gone) from 2017. As mentioned in the comments there, the creators of Sherlock BBC once refered to their favourite ACD stories. Yellow Face was among them but ... they wouldn’t be able to adapt it, because of the sensitive content, they said. This isn’t quite true though, it seems. On the contrary, the colour yellow features most prominently in Sherlock BBC … and not just the colour itself.
It starts with Sherlock’s and John’s first date at Angelo’s. The whole scene is drenched in yellow. PILOT even more than ASIP.
A secret code of ancient cyphers, sprayed in yellow paint, leads to the Yellow Dragon Circus.
Golden cats and big ‘yellow’ felines - lions - roam the story.
Yellow is the colour of the smiley face on the wall of the 221b living room.
There’s an assassin who carries a yellow ladder and a yellow tool case with a gun in it.
A bright yellow mask has been placed inside a box, alongside a train, a phone, nicotin patches and a note.
The main colour of the wedding ... bright yellow. It’s the wedding that leads Sherlock to the revelation ... to his love deduction.
A canary trainer, a trainer of yellow birds, turns out to be the killer.
Norbury, the case of the Yellow Face from canon, plays a vital role in TST
The finish of a race is marked with a bright yellow band that floats slowly to the ground while a ‘confessing’ serial killer, who is a mirror for John, passes as winner, signaling a W with his fingers, while the fingers from the ‘East’,, next to Private Bainbridge, signal a double V.
Yellow is the colour of the sun, of fire, flames and explosions.
Yellowbeard ….
But one of the most important links to Yellow Face is the following one:
JOHN: Mary, I may not be a very good man, but I think I’m a bit better than you give me credit for, most of the time. (Sherlock BBC, TST) 'I am not a very good man, Effie, but I think that I am a better one than you have given me credit for being.' (Grant Munro, The Adventure of the Yellow Face)
This piece of dialogue connects John to Grant Munro, the husband of Effie, the woman who hides her secret child from a previous marriage behind a yellow mask. She doesn’t do it out of some dark or sinister motive as Sherlock Holmes is convinced at first. Her former marriage had been legal and she'd loved her late husband dearly. Lucy, her little girl, can truly be called a child of love. But Effie fears to reveal Lucy, because the girl is ‘different' and the mother is anxious to lose the man she loves now, because of this. She is torn into between the love for her child and the love for her husband.
She (Effie) drew a large silver locket from her bosom. 'You have never seen this open.'
'I understood that it did not open.'
She touched a spring, and the front hinged back. There was a portrait within of a man, strikingly handsome and intelligent, but bearing unmistakable signs upon his features of his African descent. (ACD, The Yellow Face)
ACDs Yellow Face is a case without crime, without any devious betrayal. Instead, it’s about love and the fear to lose love, because at that time in ACDs story, it’s about a love not accepted by many.
'That is John Hebron, of Atlanta,' said the Lady (Effie), 'and a nobler man never walked the earth. I cut myself off from my race in order to wed him; but never once while he lived did I for one instant regret it. It was our misfortune that our only child took after his people rather than mine. (ACD, The Yellow Face)
In ACDs Yellow Face, the ‘first husband’ is of ‘African descent’ … just like Private Bainbridge, who is the ‘first guardian’ - the first of the three ‘identical husbands’ - in Sherlock BBC, The Sign of Three. He is the one who represents Sherlock’s earliest facade … the guardian of the Queen’s Palace.
Just like @darlingtonsubstitution presumed more than two years ago, I’m now more convinced than ever, that Moffat and Gatiss did adapt ACDs Yellow Face and they not only included it in Sherlock BBC, they made it into the main theme of their story (beside ‘hound’, ‘fall’ and ‘scarlet/pink’). In their version though, the focus shifts from ‘unacceptable’ skin-colour to ‘unacceptable’ sexuality.
Sherlock BBCs baby ... Rosie ... Sherlock’s baby ... represents love. And this love is pink and has been given a name that can be traced back to ‘Rainbow’. The Sign of Three tells the story of the ‘changing of the guards’ and how Sherlock finally discovers the AMO-factor that will alter his life completely.
When I discoverd Sherlock BBC for the first time (back in 2011) I was thrilled by that fascinating crime drama and its two charismatic leads. Now, after 13 episodes, it has grown into so much more than just an excellent crime drama among others. The way I read it, Sherlock BBC is a wonderful and stunning story about equality. Inside Sherlock’s mind, the great detective doesn’t only solve the greatest secret of his life. No, the actors Sherlock chooses to represent the different aspects of his persona, are as diverse as the colours of the rainbow. They are old and young, male and female, beautiful and ugly, strong and weak, rich and poor. Neither gender, sexuality nor the shade of skin colour or from which corner on this planet someone comes, is of any importance. Anyone can be a part of this Sherlock Holmes. That’s what makes this adaptation so absolutely unique to me. Sherlock himself becomes the rainbow of his own story.
Thanks for reading to anyone who is still there. :)))) I leave you to your own deductions. And thanks @callie-ariane for your invaluable scripts.

My Demon
Pairing: M’Baku x Reader
Warnings: little angst, and light smut DEMON AU! ANGEL AU!
Summary: Angels must fight the demons who threaten the lives of mortals. But what will you do when the unexpected happens?
A/N: I went with M’Baku because I wanted to write for him for so long, hope that’s okay with you. Sorry for the long wait, hope you like it! Enjoy~
You were an angel, a warrior, you were to fight with the demons. Demons were the worst creatures, they made even the best person to do bad things, very bad things. You had been living on Earth your whole life, any angel who fought with demons lived there, so they could blend in better, angels had relationships and everything a human would.
One of your oldest friends told you that they weren’t as bad as you portrayed them, some were capable of love. When you asked one of the older angels, she told you a story when a demon fell in love with a human and they had a child, the demon was killed by angels, this older angel friend of yours was the one who killed him, and you never forget what she told you.
“After I killed that filthy demon, the female human came into the house, holding their baby, I never forget the look she gave me, so much hatred. She yelled at me, “And you call yourself angels? Maybe you are the real demons.” she said, And that’s why I stopped killing them. I can still see her crying and yelling at me like it was yesterday.”
She really made you think, but after a demon killed your best friend, you were at rage, you wanted revenge. Even after you killed the one responsible for your friend’s death, you didn’t stop.
And this is how you found yourself in this club, you knew that demons loved places like this, the females were easy preys for them. You dressed up just like every other female in the club, Although you were fighting demons for a long time now, it was still hard for you to spot them, especially in crowds like this.
Your eyes were focused on a man across the room, he didn’t notice you, he was too busy flirting with the blonde to his left. Suddenly you heard a noise to your right.
“If you continue to stare at him this hard, he might notice you.” a man sat down beside you at the bar, you looked at him, he was extremely tall, well-built, brown hair with matching eyes and he had dark skin, he was attractive, but his eyes held some misery, when you didn’t reply to him he continued.
“Is he an ex of yours or something? You are basically burning holes into his head with your stare.” he asked and ordered a drink for himself and one for you as well.
“I don’t drink, but thank you. And no he is not my ex, I was only daydreaming and it happened to be that my eyes landed on him.”
He nodded and sipped his drink.
“And what’s your name? A pretty woman like you shouldn’t be alone at a place like this.” Obviously, you couldn’t tell him the real reason.
“(Y/N). And what’s yours?” he looked interesting for you, there was something in him.
“M’Baku. Would you like to dance? Since you won’t drink.” What an interesting name. you thought .
You danced with him all night, and it turned out he was a gentlemen, he didn’t want to take you to his home, he asked for your number and called a cab for you.
And surprisingly enough the next day he texted you, Maybe a little break from fighting demons would help me. That’s what you told yourself. And it really helped you. The dates you went on with M’Baku were amazing, he told you about himself, how he doesn’t know his father and he helps his mother everything he can with. It really made him sound like a real gentleman. And of course you shared your life with him as well, leaving the angel part out of course.
The two of you seemed to really get along with each other well, you could talk to him about anything and it felt amazing, you just wished that you could tell him about you being an angel.
Months went by, and you became comfortable with him. In the mornings you were with him, and at nights you fought with demons.
Everything went well, until one day another angel went to you for information.
She was a superior of yours and he didn’t hid her wings nor her armor. In the middle of the meeting, M’Baku came in and saw her. As soon as he saw her, she disappeared, leaving you to do the explanation. He dropped the bag he was holding.
“M’Baku, I wanted to tell you for a long time.”
“You are one of them, aren’t you?” this confused you, it was like he already knew.
“What-How do you?” he looked angry but he didn’t move, he just stood at the doorway, looking at you like you were a monster or ghost.
“They killed my father. My mother told me that an angel killed my father when I was only a baby, you’re a monster.” Realization hit you like a train. He is the son of that demon, which makes him a half-demon. Something took over your actions.
“I’m not a monster!” You yelled at him. He shook his head and came closer to you, you felt threatened and grabbed a knife off the table, it was only a kitchen knife, but for a trained warrior like you, it was like a sword, you knew against him, in a fist fight, you would lose. You defended yourself with it. You weren’t planning on killing or hurting him, only if he attacked you.
“I really don’t want to hurt you, M’Baku, just stay where you are.” you told him.
“How can you say that you are not a monster? Your kind killed my father! He wanted to live in peace!” He was yelling at you, you didn’t like that.
“Leave! NOW!” you didn’t know what to do. You had feelings for him, but he didn’t leave.
“No, you will take to the one who killed my father, so I can take my revenge!” Now that he know what you were, he wanted to use you to his revenge. But before he could grab you, you opened the window and flew away, leaving him there.
You went back to the Headquarters and stayed there. You didn’t tell anyone what happened, they would kill M’Baku, and you don’t want that to happen.
About two weeks after your arrival, they got a demon in the chambers. They said that he knew something and they needed the information that’s why they didn’t kill them, yet.
The next day, you heard screams coming from the cambers, they made you cringe, then angels came up and told you to go and give him a little food, but not too much.
You obliged to the orders, and went down.
No one was there, but you and this mystical demon. When you opened the door, there he was chains holding his arms up, more chains holding his legs and there was one around his neck, he passed out from the blood loss. He looked familiar to you.
You dropped the tray and ran to him. Holding his face up.
“M’Baku.” you whispered and it woke him.
“(Y-Y/N)?” he was soo weak, you felt so sorry for him. How could they do this to him? No information is this important.
“Yes, listen, I will help you, okay? I will get you out of here.” You fed him and then left. You needed to do the right thing, and helping him was the right thing to do.
So that night you stole the keys. Getting him out of there was relatively easy, since you know how everything worked and where everyone was. You got him out like nothing.
He was still weak, but he could held himself up, at least.
You grabbed him and flew away with him. You had a little house in the deep woods, no one knew about it, it was a spot for you to relax.
You put him in bed and went for the first aid kit. You were patching up his wounds when he decided to break the silence.
“Why did you help me?” you looked him in the eye and said.
“After I saw what they did to you, I realized, we really are monsters, sometimes worse than demons. I wanted to help you, I could look at you being in so much pain.” you went back to the cut on his fore arm.
He watched you carefully.
“I was wrong.” you looked at him confused.
“About what?”
“You are not a monster.” he made you blush, he leaned close and kissed you.
His kiss felt so right. He was a really good kisser. After some time you had to pull away to get some air, but M’Baku was stubborn, he started to kiss your neck.
“M’Baku, your wounds.”
“They will heal quick, after all, I’m half-demon, My Dear.” he bit down your neck which cased you to moan out loud.
He pulled you to the bed and hovered over you, he kissed your lips one more time.
After some time you were both naked, exposed for the other to see, the room felt cold against your hot body, M’Baku made you worked up in seconds. His intense brown eyes gave you a feeling of hotness and comfort at the same time. He started to kiss down your body, Nobody ever did something like that to you, he went to your lower legion ans kissed your inner thighs, he didn’t tease you, after you thighs came your vagina, he made you moan with his mouth, he was so good at it. He kept his hands on you thighs, keeping you still he ate you out. His stimulation worked magic on you, and your first orgasm came pretty soon.
When you wanted to return the favour he spotted you.
“You already done so much for me today, let me please you now.” And you let him. You pulled him close on top of you, and kissed him, whilst he entered you, he was so big, he gave you a few minutes to adjust and slowly started to move, you threw your head back and he kissed your neck, leaving his marks behind.
It felt like real love to both of you. It wasn’t just sex, it was making love to each other. His movements clearly shoved it, and as both of you reach your highs you looked into each others eyes. You saw love in them.
You were laying in his arms under the warm blanket, his hand stroking your back. He leaned close to your ear and whispered.
“I love you, My Angel.” you smiled at him.
“I love you too, My Demon.”

Heavy and incessant rain poured down from the sky as the girl sat there staring at the leaves moving in sync with the heavy wind out the window. Ears perking up the nonchalant melody that the raindrops produced.
"Hers is a rare case. Normally people don't tend to survive such smoke intakes but she managed to. However lucky she was it's not expected to continue so I would recommend bringing her for constant check-ups" the doctor said while she could hear another voice pretty similar to someone she knew spew out a quick thank you but she couldn't pinpoint exactly who that was. It was just too familiar, The voice. Every single word was crystal clear while she laid there without any help. Her body not responding to her calls, her soul became completely disconnected from her body.
"Feels like the Gods are very angry today" a man's voice came out of nowhere startling her. "Mhmm??" "You don't believe in god do you??" The man asked, a small chuckle left his mouth looking at her surprised face.
"No, it's not like I don't believe in God's. But things like it rains when gods are angry, those kinds of stuff...I don't believe" she replied while he nodded his head.
"Aa, Do you by chance believe in other entities?? Like ghosts, vampires, grim reapers and stuff???" "Mhm, well, I do think they might be present around us. Maybe living as one of us. Who knows??" "So you do. No wonder" "Eh???" "Nah nothing," he said as she spared him a glance before turning back.
"Ah yea I didn't introduce myself. I'm Nakamoto Yuta." "I'm Jiho" both exchanging handshakes while the thunders burst out heavily, water droplets pouring down without a wait.
Sitting on her bed, her eyes set on the screen. Deeply immersed in the drama not noticing the three entering the room. “What are you watching soo keenly??" "Omg! You almost gave me a heart attack!" she whisper yelled, keeping a hand on her chest while she looked at him with wide eyes.
"Oh, I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you" the boy apologised for his eyes showing a hint of concern "Tch whatever, by the way why are you guys here??" she asked looking at the three lads standing in front of her.
"Ya! Did you think we won't visit knowing there was a bomb blast at your school and that you were present right there when that happened and you were also injured!" the boy yelled
"Calm down, calm down mark will ya," she said patting his back while mark took deep breaths. The two others stood there looking at him. "What ??" mark spatted out while the two just shook their heads.
"You could have been a rapper. Your speed and flow of words were incredible" an unknown voice from the back came which was then continued by clapping. All heads turned in the direction of the voice to see none other than Yuta standing there leaning on the door, smiling widely.
"Who is he??" mark slowly asked bending down to her. "I'm yuta, Nakamoto Yuta," he said entering the room, walking towards his bed. "You know him??" haechan whispered while she nodded. "Unfortunately, yes. What's that??" she asked pointing at the bag Taeyong held.
"Oh, here it's ginseng tea" "OMG THANKS!!!" "We knew you liked it" haechan smirked looking at her puppy eyes admiring the box. "Like it?? I love it!!" she yelled hugging the cover. The rest giggled at her gesture while yuta sat there looking at the group of four blabbering. A smirk was prominent on his face.
"JUNGWOO!!!!" Her voice pierced through his ears as he groaned. "Now what" he mumbled rolling his eyes up in annoyance as he walked towards her room to see an angry-looking goddess who was ready to burn down the whole world sitting on her throne. Not uttering a word he entered the room.
Head hanging low. "YOU BETTER CLEAR THIS MESS OFF. OR I'LL FINISH HIM." she roared pointing at the sphere. "That little brat" he internally cursed glancing at the sphere. "I'll take care of him" "You better" the goddess demanded and with that he left the room bashing his way out the gates of hell towards the living realm, Earth.
"Kid don't make any hasty decisions okay?? Whatever it is we'll talk it off uh?? Please get down." the officer cried out through the megaphone while more crowd of police officers and firefighters gathered around the school, looking up at the boy standing at the edge of the rooftop. Firefighters and police gathered holding the safety net for the boy to fall on in case of a slip.
"I WON'T GET DOWN !!!! HOW MANY EVER TIMES YOU SAY I WON'T!! TRY ALL THE TRICKS YOU WANT NONE OF THEM WILL WORK ON ME!!!" the boy yelled from up there making the officer even more irritated. "YA!!! GET DOWN HERE YOU LITTLE SON OF A BI-" "Sir calm down, calm down" the other tried pulling the officer back while he tried to get out of their grip.
"DO WHATEVER YOU WANT YOU CAN NEVER GET ME DOWN!!! I'LL JUMP OFF IF ANYONE OF YOU COME UP" The boy yelled putting one leg forth making the crowd gasp in fear.
"Look kid, calm down eh? Tell me what's bothering you okay. I'll try my best to clear it out. So why don't you come down hmm??" The lady officer spoke while the boy refused.
"NO ONE CAN EVER STOP ME- AH AH AH" A hand pulled his ears making him lose balance and fall back. "Ya, How many warnings should I give hmm?? I told you to live, didn't I?? Why do you keep causing trouble!!" jungwoo yelled slightly kicking him on his abdomen.
"AHHH.....I'm sorry, I did wrong I was supposed to listen to you but please it's too tough. Please let me die. Please I understood living is hell and that what I did was wrong. Please" the boy begged, rubbing his hands.
"Look here, Han Tae-sook. You either live. Or you rot in hell under the hands of Eun-Tak. And trust me you wouldn't want that" Jungwoo threatened him while the boy made weird noises in fear. "I'm giving you one last chance. Live or die??"
"I wanna die please" the boy begged while jungwoo clicked his tongue. "Don't tell me I didn't warn you before. Cause you're completely gonna regret this decision" with that the boy turned pale.
A cloud of small silver dust left his body as it flew across the sky towards the hands of the goddess. Putting a hand forward to close the open eyes of the boy, a long sigh left jungwoo's mouth. His eyes wander towards the vast sky. Soaking in all the warmth of the beaming sun.
The door bashed open as the officer ran towards the boy's dead body. "OMG kid are you alright??" pressing his neck to see a blank pulse. A sigh of defeat left his mouth as his head hung low. "Ah. Why did you have to do it? Ah." he wailed looking at the boy.
"Officer Jung!!!!" another officer ran towards him to see the boy dead. "Is he dead??" the officer just nodded his head motioning him to take the body. Looking around to see no one up there he left the rooftop.
Jungwoo stood there frozen. Eyes trailing towards that one officer. A pang of guilt instantly hit him as a tear rolled down his cheeks as he choked on his saliva. Eyes stuck on that one person, his name tag.
Jung Jaehyun
"You finally understood what I told you to do in the very first place," the goddess muttered making jungwoo snicker. "It was his choice, I gave him another chance to live, but he chose to come to you." "And you let him??" "Yup" "That's so unlike you," eun-tak said, making him shrug.
"Anyways Imma take good care of him," she said, rubbing her hands in anticipation of what all she could do next. "Do whatever you want. He's all your now" With that jungwoo disappeared off like dust.
"Let's see what we got here. Han Tae-Sok. You should have accepted the chance Jungwoo gave you. Tch you poor thing." screams of pain and misery of the boy filled the room echoing all around hell.
Jungwoo's face scrunched up in disgust making Jhonny giggle. "I have no idea how she even does that" "That's her job" Jhonny stated making jungwoo snicker. Settling down on the long comfy seat as his mind travelled back to the time at the rooftop. That face.
"Jhonny" "Mhm??" "Have you ever felt guilty after seeing a man even though you don't know who that man is or what made you feel guilty??" "Why, you felt that??" "Just answer," jungwoo replied coldly.
"Well, I haven't felt that, but I've heard some say that when they meet someone from their past life or something, they feel some kind of emotion. But I haven't experienced any" "I don't even remember my past" "I don't know mate. You don't necessarily need to remember your past to feel that" Jhonny stated, as he stood up walking out of the room.
Jung Jaehyun. Who are you??
"Guys..." her voice came out rather cold than expected as the boys looked at her. Scoffing in disbelief as she pointed at the wheelchair. "Ain't this too much??" the boys just stood there looking at the wheelchair then at the girl.
"What's too much? I don't get it??" haechan asked pretty bewildered while she groaned, annoyed by the boys' extra care."...don't you think the wheelchair is too much?? I wasn't in a car accident! My legs are perfectly fine-" shaking her legs to and fro "-I can walk!" she stated while the boys rubbed their napes in embarrassment.
"Maybe we went too much with the 'helping her thingy'" taeyong said as the rest nodded "YASS!!-" she yelled finally happy that the boys understood why she was like that "-now come on let's go back home. I'm sickkkk of this hospital smell" waving her hand in front of her face, scrunching up her nose in disgust.
"Alright let's get ice cream on the way back. It's hot~" Mark announced making the rest excited. "Let's go!!!!" haechan screeched, putting his hands up while the rest sighed. Walking past him like they never knew him. Haechan ran towards them shouting their names while the rest sped up.
Walking down the slope of the hospital porch laughing about how haechan nearly tripped not knowing about the sudden slope. Not taking her surroundings into account she laughed at the top of her lungs.
Unconsciously bumping onto someone, she spewed out a quick sorry as she continued walking not even glancing at him.
His eyes trailed on that little figure skipping her way past the gates of the hospital debating whether they bumped or not.
Nah I ain't even in my human form no way she could have I'm just hallucinating.
With that, he walked towards the doors bursting them open as he slowly turned visible to the naked eyes of the people around him.
"I want a melona!!!!" she screeched pointing at that one bar that stood out from the others. Picking the only one that was left, extending her hands putting the bar in front of her giving mark a frolicsome smile. "Pretty pleaseee" "You just got one a minute ago" a hit of ire in his voice as he looked at her puppy eyes.
"Pleassseeee I love melona!!!" she begged, a sigh of defeat left his mouth. Grabbing the bar he walked towards the counter, paying for it as she giggled in excitement. "Thank you!!" she exclaimed showing a beaming smile as he scoffed, walking out the store.
The blistering hot breeze instantly hit them, a bead of crystal clear sweat rolling down her forehead, Shifting their heads to the side to see the two boys engrossed on the screens of the phone. "What's so exciting??" he enquired while the two boys flinched at the sudden voice.
"Oh...uh-" the drag in his voice made the two more and more curious. "-You remember the bully Han Tae-sook ??" taeyong spoke knowing haechan won't be able to tell it out. The two bewildered individuals nodded their heads as taeyong took a long breath.
"He was found dead at the rooftop of our school-" "I thought the school was burned down in the fire" she cut him, her face showing no emotions. "-Not exactly the fire died down before destroying the entire building" taeyong filled in the air as the rest stood there. Not exactly knowing how to respond.
"So any idea how exactly was he found dead on the rooftop of our school??" mark broke the silence while the two other boys' heads hung low. "Well according to the article released by our school he was found dead by the janitor but...-" taeyong took a long breath before continuing. "- But I'm sure that ain't the case" he finished while haechan took the lead.
"He surely can't enter the school cause it's been under tight security ever since the fire and none of the teachers including the staff isn't allowed inside the school for the past few weeks so no way the janitor was in the school at that time" he concluded while the rest three nodded their heads.
"True...anyways what's the use in investigating now. He's probably gone for good. He ain't a person I'll miss" Ji-ho replied nonchalantly. "Well yea let's just forget about it," taeyong said as the rest followed him down the alley towards her house. "But ain't it too weird" haechan mumbled ever so lightly inaudible to the rest who walked in front of him. Don't bother much.
Forget it, you anyways won't be able to forgive him for what he did, now that he is gone the better ...
Upon the large leather seat sat the man watching all the discussions the group of 4 did. "The boy seemed pretty serene about the fact than we expected. Shouldn't we do something about this, sir??" the one next to him spoke while he shook his head.
"Not yet..he isn't ready for it" the other spoke leaning back on his big throne. Looking down at the boy acting very bizarre in front of his friends while the rest laughed at his comical character. "He will know when it's time" he spoke while the other one gave a half bow.
You will get back to your senses and attain your rightful position and I'll make sure of it.

HONEY X DRAMA REVIEW: CHICAGO TYPEWRITER
Honey Stars: 4.8/5
Brief Summary:
The story revolves around three characters—Seo Hwi Young (Yoo Ah In), Ryu Su Hyeon (Im Soo Jung) and Shin Yul (Go Kyung Po) who lived in the 1930s era of Joseon and is reincarnated as Han Se Ju, and Jeon Seol. Shin Yul, on the other hand is trapped inside a typewriter for 80 years as a ghost and met the reincarnated selves of his friends whom he seeks help to cast light upon his death and what happened to the era he lived. Together, the trio uncovers the mysteries of their past lives as while trying to fit everything together for the benefit of their present lives.
This is the first time I’ve watched the main characters in a drama, hence, there was no feeling prejudice or biases on my part when I started it. The only goal I have was that I was holding onto the premise of having a hero as a writer—which always appeals to me given my job.
However, after one episode, I was convinced that I am not just staying because of the character or the story, rather because my interest was greatly piqued by Han Se Ju / Seo Hwi Young—or more appropriately, Yoo Ah In.
Ahhh, I never thought I will be so smitten with Yoo Ah In to the point that during the course of watching the drama, I was able to watch two of his latest movies because I just couldn’t get enough of him. More research has already made me swoon for him more because of the “real” character he has in his personal life: Artist , rebel and a passionate man in one! :D (and yes, if you’re thinking if i was caught because of my weakness of men with glasses, you are right.)
Im Soo Jung is such a sweetheart. And this small screen comeback for her after thirteen years was, for me a success given that she played the role of Su Hyeon and Jeon Seol very well. I would love to see her more so I’m hoping for another role soon!
Go Kyung Pyo!!! Oh, I wouldn’t really mind having a ghost around me if it is as warm as Yoo Jin oh. Though, there was a very subtle second lead syndrome with his characters, I wasn’t focused on it, rather I was more touched with his relationship with both Su Hyeon and Hwi Young. I really love how his character—both Shin Yul and Yoo Jin oh exhibited loyalty towards his friends which was actually evident for 80 years of wait for an apology. He was the character my heart sunk for towards the end and I know you’d probably feel the same way too once you’d get to it.
THE PLOT:
I like how the drama clearly drew the line between the two time lines. Hence, you wouldn’t get confused of the past and present lives of the protagonists, rather it would make you yearn to dig deeper into it and how these affected each of the characters.
I also like how these two timelines have two different stories. 1930s era gave us a glimpse of what costs the Korean freedom of the present, while the present characters were motivational relatable on both causes. And while the story is busy plotting the time lines, we are also given a clear sketches of our characters which will, apparently play a crucial role in the as we progress on the story.
There were, however slow phases of the story especially during the early episodes when the story was just building up. It is a slow and steady build-up of characters that you will find too dragging at times, but I guess it will be paid off when the story starts to unfold before you—which actually happened to me during the my ride on the show.
And that ride, I might say goes steadily up. Just when you thought you knew everything, it would pull up for another twist and have you riveting for more. It’s a roller coaster ride that goes nothing but up and brings forth tears down on your cheeks on towards the end.
[SPOILER ALERT]
Now that we mentioned it, an external conflict towards the end was little bit far off the story for me. Meaning, it felt like it wasn’t the perfect puzzle piece towards the ending we are aiming for. The sister of the stalker fan of Han Se Ju who killed himself on the earlier episode suddenly became a huge role and we should have been warned. But no, there was a very little clues towards that conflict—until she worked with Se Ju’s half-brother (or was it?) Tae Min.
Speaking of Tae Min, I guess we should’ve shed more light into his story. Apparently, he was responsible for the fall out of Joseon Youth Alliance back in 1930s, and maybe it would’ve have been better then to give him another huge role in the present time aside from being bitter and a stealer of Han Se Ju’s work.
Moreover, though I really hated how the ending of 1930s era turned out—I cannot help but love it as well. It was, ruthless but full of heart; heart breaking but fills you a myriad of emotions all at once. And I might say that there was no better closure for that story other than that.
Loyalty and love of friendship shone brightly until the very end. I guess this is what we mainly need to pick up from the story for it is rare in a lifetime that you will find people who will stand beside you, hold on to you and protect you until the very end…or until the next reincarnation of their life.
THE ROMANCE:
I strongly feel that the romance is just a second overall element of the plot—friendship coming up at the first place. However, there was no lack of it throughout the series. And though Han Se Ju and Jeon Seol have their own love story to tell, I was a lot more invested with Seo Hwi Young and Rye Su Hyeon’s story.
There was a lot of tension between the two which was guised very nicely in their constant bickering. But the lingering stares, stolen glances and a little mix of odd concern here and there between the two made me soft ball of melting heart throughout the story.
But falling in love is out of the question if you have a country you are fighting for to be liberated. And more than anyone else, Hwi Young and Su Hyeon’ knew that. That’s why I almost broke down crying as they give their promises to each other the night before their operation. And that grazing of their hands has too much tension and it was ENOUGH to make you heart burst---no kisses, just a graze and it made a very huge impact for the characters. This easily is my favorite scene of these two.
And of course, above the love story, we will have a good glimpse of a strong game of bromance--courtesy mainly by Se Ju and Yoo Jin Oh.
FAVORITE CHARACTER:
Though it might be obvious that Han Se Ju is my favorite character for the series, I really love Ma Bang Jin as well. I feel that there can more of her character in the near future if we can only have it longer hehe.
Also, can I just mention Miss Kang and Gal Ji Suk (The dancing secretary in Goblin). They were amazing side characters for the series as they add a little bit of fun into our main characters.
DO I RECOMMEND YOU TO WATCH THIS SERIES?
YES!!!!!!!
Signal is my favorite drama that isn’t a romance genre because it gave a dose of feels I couldn’t exactly forget easily—and this is what Chicago Typewriter gave me. I am sure that it won’t be easy for me to get over this drama. Though the show didn’t get much attention when it premiered in Korea because of other competing on going dramas, I daresay it deserves a lot other than being underrated.
-
I mentioned on the first part that I came for the drama because it has a writer for a protagonist. And though I might have put that thought in to the sideline towards the middle of the series (i was getting more and more drowned with the story rather than the character), I have my own ‘writer learning’ from the characters:
1. WRITER’S BLOCK IS AN ENEMY, BUT YOU HAVE TO FIND YOUR MUSE BACK--EVEN IF IT MEANS HAVING A GHOST FOR A MUSE.
2.
3.
4.
