Movies like Dead Poets Society make me want to be a boy and experience boy friendship so badly.

Like maybe it was said before but I feel like people identifying themselves as women don't have movies like this, with a bunch of girls experiencing teenage years.

A movie with like no sexual tension, just a group of girls being girls and talking about their thoughts and existential aspects of life, not as women but as humans. Because I feel like (it's my opinion, I can be wrong though) when there's women involved in any friend group in movies or book there's always some romantic interests.

And I know romance is important, love is expectations and beauty and life, but it's not the only aspect of a woman life right? What triggers me is that the romance is often the main part of a woman characterization.

A thing I love about dps is that the romance isn't the main aspect of the plot. However if you take Ginny and Chris for example, the only plus they're adding to the film is romantic interest (with respectively Charlie and Knox). Same for the two girls Charlie brings to the cave. And I get that in this movie particularly the story is centered on the boys, but why aren't the girls, I don't know, integrated in the club too? (they kinda are in the book I think but still).

Anyway, I feel like there's not really a problem with how girls are depicted in the dps movie (not the book, book Knox doesn't exist to me), but I wanted to point out that fact. I also know that this movie's from 1989, so there wasn't as much gender questioning as nowadays.

However, a thing why dps is so good and life-changing is because there's no gender-coding. You can be a girl and relate to Neil and his passion for his main intrest and his relationship with his father, you can be any gender and resonate with Todd's anxiety and quietness, you can be anyone and relate to how profoundly sincere Keating is in his want to transmit and help and share to those young boys.

In dps the boys are just being friends and experiencing life, and it's so real and true that it ends up painfully good. I want a movie like that with girls so bad. If you guys have some recommendations, I'll gratefully take them!
