Then comes the summer before their last year at the Academy. Some key things that happen:

Clemmie learns about Hector from Max. Max later laments his carelessness when he rambles on about Hector. Because now Clemmie has started pondering about the merits of Hector's stance on the Districts.

Sejanus distances himself from Coriolanus - Surprise! He's returned to the past after being hung in 12.

With the addition of Sejanus from his future, he's able to clock that something is wrong. This isn't exactly how his last year at the Academy. Like sure people did wonder if Clemmie and Coryo had a thing, but it'd always been more of a 'are they-are they not' sort of vibe. And not that.

Sejanus clocks Coriolanus as having returned as well, he just doesn't know that Coriolanus had returned from a further future. In this timeline, his 'past' self was friends with Clemmie, and he's later able to clock that she must have returned as well.

This is where things start to go off the rails (for Coriolanus):

Sejanus has remained friends with Clemmie. He sees no reason to distance himself yet. Particularly when she's been going through some self-reflection with the aid of some of Hector's old journals that she's been able to find.

There is an argument (either Sej vs Snow or Clemmie vs Snow) and the truth comes out.

Clemmie has this huge argument with Coriolanus. She nearly commits a murder. (Most people would have preferred this option). Then she goes missing.

Felix nearly commits a murder in broad daylight. Where is his best friend???

Meanwhile in 11, Clemmie has befriended Reaper over a joint successful murder on a Peacekeeper. She's going to get some answers one way or another. Whose perspective is right? Grandfather's? Sej's? Coriolanus'?

Hitting an iceberg, sustaining damage to both the double bottom and opening five compartments to water is such a statistically unlikely occurrence it made no sense to plan for. It’s a tragedy because of this; it’s really just horrendous luck. Everything that needed to go wrong, from the phase of the moon to the fantastic-but-not-flawless design, did.

Removing the sufficient number of lifeboats is widely believed to be purely aesthetic, but that is due to 1997 film Titanic, which is fiction and not a source. Hello! I'm interested in becoming a sims 4 storyteller on youtube, but I'm in need of someone to talk to about the process that comes with using that platform. You're the only simmer I know that utilizes youtube, so I was wondering if you were okay with receiving questions like how long did it take to build your followers on there? do you use a mixture of gameplay animation and machinima animations? do you have any other useful tips for getting started and 'putting yourself' out there?

heyyyyyyyy! i don't mind answering questions at all! i love talking lol. there's loads of other simmers who use youtube for storytelling! i was inspired to start my channel after watching simlivncolor & trapgoddessshawty for years. there's so many other new people who have started creating more recently that i really enjoy too! (you should check out the showcase tab on my channel. i need to update it again too.)

i'll answer the animation question real quick because the building and tips kinda go together. i don't use many in-game animations these days. i don't really like them for the most part. the sims' movements are always very big because they're meant to be cartoony. it's something i tend to stray from just as a preference though. there's nothing wrong with using them though. especially if that's the vibe you're going for.

i've been doing youtube since about february of 2023. i hadn't started running lykaia on there until late feb/early march. it was a slow journey, but an exciting one. i still have the screenshot from when i reached my first ten subscribers, first ten views on a video, everything. a lot of my traffic came from tik tok because i started on there. though it definitely wasn't much. only a small percentage really transfers over from platform to platform. trick of the trade, i guess. i did a giveaway once, i believe but quickly came to realize i didn't like it. things like giveaways are quick gimmicks to get people to follow you, but most times most of them don't stay. not to mention- a lot of them aren't invested in the content. they're just there for the prize, so it's not the best method to try to boost your following. i will say i've been pretty consistent with posting and that's helped a lot. you really wanna just take your time with things and develop an audience that's invested in your story organically. you can and should utilize other platforms if you want to grow. youtube's algorithm isn't necessarily built for discovery, so it is a lot harder to grow there and gain traction. tik tok, twitter, bluesky, tumblr, and suprisingly- pinterest, are all good options to choose from. i will say to not get fixated on numbers or doing things just to gain traction. numbers don't validate your work, your work is already valid from the jump. a lot of this shit is just straight up luck. your viewership numbers, be it big or small, are not a testament to how good your story is. make what you wanna make because you like it. there's no right way to do anything, really.

with that said though- having high quality content helps A LOT for a platform like youtube. by that i mean having footage that's good quality. all of my footage is recorded and uploaded at 4k resolution. using reshade in game will help the game look better. color grading your footage when you edit it. enticing thumbnails help get clicks. (which has been so hard for me. the thumbnails always stump me lol) even having a game that is aesthetically pleasing. i don't mean utilizing a trendy aesthetic, but whatever your vibe is- make sure it looks nice. make sure the textures are good quality. having builds that look nice help and interesting. having good fps. (which is tough since ts4 LOVES to lag but I digress.) however you want it to look, just make sure it's the best quality of that. um i don't really know what else to say. any other questions you have- feel free to ask!

the fact that it gives me an excuse to write about pseudo vampire/jiangshi! LWJ is a big plus 🤩

It's set within canon where LWJ never understood why he never liked being touched, crowds or his biting tendencies whenever he's overwhelmed only that he just DOES. As far as he knows, it's just a part of who he is and there's no deeper meaning

He's proven wrong when CR burned

Fic ramble/drabble under the cut:

Overwhelmed and desperate to defend his home, LWJ blanks out. When he comes to, he sees enemies torn apart while others had their necks mauled off

Dazed, he sees blood on his hands and tastes it in his mouth

Numb, LWJ almost got cut down before the Wen dropped dead onto the ground while a familiar stranger stood over the corpse

Hollowed and haunted, the man bears an eerie resemblance to LQR. A stranger and yet--

"Father...?"

"Wangji."

LWJ startles at his name because he's only heard that voice behind a sealed door. It's raspy with disuse but strong and warm

"How...?"

"I may have failed as your father but I would still recognise my son."

"Why now?" LWJ is too numb to be angry but it's there

QHJ looks at him long enough to make LWJ squirm before gesturing him forward with a quiet 'come here'

Despite everything, LWJ obeys

Forheads touching, LWJ feels his body absorbing the qi flowing between them and staggers as a lifetime of secrets is revealed to him in seconds

Like how he was told, his parents met during a Night Hunt with his mother showing no interest in his father. While saddened, QHJ was respectful and asks to earn LWJ mother's affection instead

Curious and oddly charmed, his mother agrees and thus began their slow burn

Unfortunately, this earns the Elders' ire as they believe QHJ wasting his time especially with someone who may end up whisking their sect leader away from them

But QHJ persists, not wanting anyone but his fated one and for awhile, they grudgingly allow QHJ his 'silly whims'

QHJ earnest but respectful pursuit of her eventually softens Xiuhao (my chosen name for Madam Lan) but before things can develop further, a joint Night Hunt goes horribly wrong

It started out like any other but after a series of mistakes by arrogant cultivators, it went to hell

Because of their arrogance and sexist views, most of the pampered cultivators ignored the more experienced Xiuhao and attracted a hoard of Fierce Corpses onto their party

Only a few survived, mostly because of Xiuhao's quick thinking

Unfortunately the price was high, not only because they lost so many people but in the effort to save them, Xiuhao was severely infected with Corpse Poisoning. Worried and terrified for her life, QHJ brought them back to Cloud Recesses in hopes to save his love in time

Things only got worse

The usual remedies can no longer work as the Corpse Poisoning is just too severe so an elixir is needed instead but it'll take time to finish. Reassured in knowing that she can be saved, Xiuhao was stabilised and left in the infirmary to rest

Unfortunately, an Elder disagreed

Believing they're wasting their time as well as endangering themselves in trying to save an infected woman, the Elder dismissed the guards

They would never suspect their respected Elder's intentions to kill QHJ's beloved

It's unfortunate, but the Elder believed it was for the greater good for the sect and those around them especially if Xiuhao succumbs and wreck havoc as a jiangshi

And if they can finally be rid of the woman who can steal their sect leader?

All the better

The Elder may be strong but against an active rogue cultivator infected with Corpse Poisoning? He never stood a chance

The sounds of the fight brought QHJ and his sect to the healing pavilion, finding Xiuhao standing over the dead Elder

With a bloodied heart in her hand

The outrage was immediate, but QHJ stood firm with Xiuhao even as his sect demands retribution. For his beloved to be put down for she's beyond saving despite the fact Xiuhao is actively fighting against the poisoning

Left with no other choice, QHJ married Xiuhao to save her

It was bittersweet. QHJ may have married his beloved but not on their own terms. It's made worse when they cant be together- both as punishment and to ensure Xiuhao is not driven mad by being close to a human's yang energy

Wanting to at least give her a sense of home and comfort, QHJ had the house built and planted the gentians surrounding it as he remembered that it was Xiuhao's favourite flower

It wasn't the life they wanted but they made do

They may be separated but QHJ plays for Xiuhao almost on a daily basis from his own house in hopes to help ease the effects of the corpse poisoning because despite the fact she was given the elixir, there were lasting effects

When the now Madam Lan fell pregnant, no one suspected she was bearing twins

After Lan Huan was born, they were relieved to see that his birth was normal without any side-effects caused by the Corpse Poison. They only realised why that is when Xiuhao fell ill more than a year later. The healers found out that Xiuhao was actually pregnant with twins all along and that the younger twin that is Lan Wangji has been absorbing the poison into himself all this time because of the aborted elixir

The poison was also the reason why Lan Wangji was slow to develop in the womb

When the day finally arrived to deliver LWJ (at least 2-3 years after LXC), the birth was not easy. It triggered the dormant poison with a vengeance and in an effort to calm Xiuhao, QHJ was infected in the ensuing struggle

One thing led to another

As she recovered, Xiuhao discovered that while LWJ managed to absorbed the poison and cured her, the whole ordeal left her weakened as her body went thru too much stress ever since that fateful Night Hunt

Years pass, rules grew and certain quirks started to show within LWJ

LWJ doesn't like to be touched. Avoids crowds. Bites people when he's overwhelmed. Seemingly normal quirks with no deeper meaning

And yet

LWJ would later find out it's because the yang energy from others is a lot and that he'd subconsciously done his best not to consume it

The once a month visits acted both as a part of Xiuhao's punishment but also because she was growing weaker each visit until she passed away when LWJ was 6

When LWJ finally accepted that his mother died, he got so upset that when he came to, the gentians were all dried up

LWJ would realise much later that it was because he drained all the yang energy from the flowers until they're basically ashes

At that time, it'd been QHJ who carried LWJ back as he was the only one who could hold LWJ without worry because of what happened when Xiuhao gave birth

Once the poison is deep within a person's bloodstream, it's difficult to cure hence why QHJ stayed secluded despite wanting to raise his sons especially in honour of his wife

But he can't, as QHJ would be a danger to his sons if he's out of seclusion for too long

QHJ found it morbidly ironic that despite the fact that he was now in a similar situation as his wife years before, his sect refused to kill him and sought to keep him alive.

With no choice, QHJ accepted the double standard with resigned disgust

And here they are now, years later in the middle of a burning CR and LWJ can do nothing but hold his decaying father close for the first and last time in his life

"You may not believe me, but I did try. I failed but I swear, Wangji-"

"- I believe you." LWJ swallows. "Fuqin."

Arms tightened around LWJ before QHJ sighs. "I wished we had more time, Wangji."

LWJ grits his fangs in a bout of grief because those words are an echo of his mother's from so long ago

- I wished we had more time, a-Zhan -

Time.

This family never did had enough time

When LWJ is forced to flee while QHJ defended him, LWJ's last sight of his father is of his back as he marches on into the fray and rained hell one last time onto the Wens in a jiangshi imbued fury

It was only weeks later in the Xuanwu cave that LWJ mourned for their lost time

On the way back to CR and overwhelmed with grief and worry- for WWX, LXC, LQR and QHJ- LWJ's control slips and even before the war even began, LWJ left a string of emaciated corpses behind with numb satisfaction

When he arrived home with more red than white on his clothes, LWJ stares at the Wall of Rules with a heavy heart and wonders, not for the 1st time, if others were right all along in saying that LWJ is not human

Only, just not in the way they thought

As it is, that was not the last time LWJ's control slips. When he went to search for WWX in those 3 months, no one could figure out how the Wen soldiers were left either emaciated or torn apart. Was it demons? Fierce corpses?

Or something far worse?

When WX reunited and began their horrible misunderstanding, LWJ's control almost slips in the worst possible way

Compulsion

An ability LWJ discovered months ago otw to CR. A powerful ability that frightens him, made him wonder if his subconscious had him reticent because of it

Since then, LWJ avoids WWX in fear that he'd compel him to go back to Gusu with him. If he can't convince WWX to stop, then LWJ must find a way to end the war faster so WWX have less reasons to use his still developing cultivation

Even if it means unleashing LWJ's darker nature

This next part can go 2 ways:

- canon divergent where WWX confronts LWJ

- canon compliant where WWX is told of LWJ's secret 13 yrs later

either way, the SSC will have WWX in ominous black & corpse army and LWJ in his funeral white tearing soldiers apart as if in offering to WWX

Even though LWJ is more wary of his compulsion ability, he doesn't hesitate to use it on Wen soldiers. Careful in his choice before and after each battle, leaving only one command to those he left alive

To betray Wen Ruohan

To help end the war faster, LWJ watches solemnly as Wen Ruohan's empire tore itself apart from the inside

He is HGJ, both revered & feared

A guqin to fell armies. A touch to drain lifeforce. A blood that is both human yet not

The light that saves and destroys

Many times during and after the war, LWJ tried to tell LXC about their parents but whenever he brought it up, his brother would change the subject as a clear sign that he rather not know

It saddens him but LWJ understands that it was never an easy topic for them

He keeps quiet

In an effort to help people affected by the war as well as find cases or even people similar to him, LWJ steps away from the cultivation world and its politics, continuing to go where the chaos it

People would often hear about him but rarely has anyone seen him since the war

However, even as he roams far and wide, LWJ can't find those like him no matter how hard he tries

Human yet not. Monster yet not

That even if he hadn't trained to cultivate a core, he will still be more powerful than any cultivator

LWJ's the only one of his kind

Back at the cultivation world, the political vacuum was thankfully not as bad as canon since the war ended early and in part because Wen Ruohan's empire self destructed seemingly without explanation

It allowed the more peaceful faction of the Wens to take its rightful place

In this, the Jin has no footing against the others even the Jiang because of WWX's reputation

And WWX himself has more time to recover and perfected his cultivation to control its more harmful effects or pitfalls

But in quiet moments, his mind wanders to the confusing LWJ

After their disastrous reunion, LWJ -in complete and utter silence- had somehow still managed to scold and bully WWX to rest when needed

It used to annoy him and he made sure to make it difficult for the fuddy duddy....but now?

He misses it

Misses how LWJ is the only one who's unafraid to pluck his dizi out of his hand and set it aside while bullying WWX to rest or eat

Misses how easily he fell asleep while LWJ sat nearby like a sentinel as WWX rested

Misses LWJ's voice who never spoke again since that day

It confuses him that LWJ somehow managed to both avoid him and seek him out in the war. Always near by yet would disappear whenever WWX was close

Always the earnest fuddy duddy even as there was something different about the other man

It makes him miss LWJ even more

So it caught WWX by surprise when he came to visit the Wen siblings to find LWJ at their library, deeply engrossed in a medical book about corpse poisoning

"Lan Zhan!" WWX happily calls out, startling the man into responding

"Wei Ying."

His heart gives a loud thump as a delighted grin overtakes WWX's face at the sound of LWJ's voice. It's impossibly deeper than he remembers and he blushes at how wonderful his name sounds in LWJ's mouth

WWX never realised how much he missed LWJ or his voice until now

I like to think that this reunion goes far better than last time as they've had some distance and growth in both of their respective powers, allowing them to not be rash nor careless with their words and actions

Of course, they'd get together...eventually 😅

once married, WX will definitely roam together, helping those in need. A necromancer, a dhampyr and their temperamental donkey

and one day, a little one as well 😏

Wow, okay, I had NO idea what was going on and had to do some digging. The information is very sparse but I think I was able to piece together what happened:

A few days ago, a popular artist posted a 3D artwork of Neo-Queen Serenity to r/sailormoon. The artwork was removed because it "reeks of AI." The artist very politely messaged the mods and asked them what happened, offering to send evidence that proves her authenticity. The mods muted- and later outright banned- her. One of the mods also blocked her on Bluesky when she tagged them asking what happened.

People later started sending hate to the two mods (RockyCoon and lemonaid83), which the artist denounced. It got to the point where RockyCoon decided to shut down the subreddit and step down as mod. As of right now, the r/sailormoon subreddit is shut down and will remain that way until a new mod can take over.

Okay, so time to give my opinion on this whole thing.

Right off the bat, let me say that harassment is wrong; RockyCoon and lemonaid83 should not be sent death threats over a fucking fandom subreddit.

THAT BEING SAID- I'm glad people are acknowledging what a shitty place r/sailormoon is and how awful its mods are. It sucks that the mods were harassed into it, but I'm glad they're stepping down because they really do live up to the powertripping Reddit mod stereotype. You can see people in this thread (from a smaller Sailor Moon subreddit) talking about their negative experiences with the mods.

The mods' policies and strict adherence to an arbitrary set of rules really stifles the community. The biggest example of this is the whole "no self-promotion" rule. Artists get hit with the banhammer for daring to link to their socials where people can see more of their work or commission them (because fuck artists for trying to make a living I guess). Meanwhile apparently it's fine for people to post uncredited artwork.

Okay, I gotta rant about this because it still pisses me off so much. Just a few months ago an artist posted pictures of Sailor Moon props he'd made; he makes props and other replicas for a living and they're just gorgeous. Tons of people (myself included) asked him where we can buy his work or commission him. He had to DM us all individually due to fears of being banned for self-promotion. But then the mods caught on and deleted the post anyway.

The artist and I were DMing at the time and he told me how disheartening it was to get a lot of traction for his business only for the mods to derail it because of stupid, arbitrary rules. He wasn't really a Sailor Moon fan himself (he only made the props because his wife, a Moonie, encouraged him to) and I hate how this incident must have tainted his view of the fandom.

So yeah, ANYWAY, I hope this fiasco results in r/sailormoon getting better mods and not sucking anymore. Again, I don't condone harassment, but I can't say I feel too bad for the head mod. They've been super shitty for years and actively made the Sailor Moon fandom a worse place to be in.

you have a good point about the increasement of non con/dub con fanfiction. i just want to add that it's not surprise that Joel Miller's fanfiction are the one that always sexualize the word "kiddo" or are mostly about age gap because the fandom (and i'm talking here about Pedro Pascal fandom generally) has been more toxic in the recent years. big problem here is they tend to fetishize Pedro Pascal a lot so, when you scroll in his character tags, the stories you always found are about daddy kinks, age gap kinks, dbf/bfd, etc. it's look that a reader that is over 30 is a crime.

funny thing, this doesn't happen when i'm looking in other characters tags that aren't latinos, like Bucky Barnes or Steve Harrington, i wonder why🙄

The ask above and the text below is a response to concern about the growing number of infantilization and dub con/non con content that is taking over certain fanfiction spaces.

I will be using tags from those spaces to spread the message and further encourage conversation, so if you do not want to see my posts, block me now

Honestly, until reading this ask, I didn't realize just how severe the overt sexualization of Pedro Pascal has gotten.

I remember seeing videos of him reading certain fan tweets filled with the term daddy and I would cringe, but I just figured it was because I was a bit put off by one of my favorite actors being put in that situation.

But I do remember, before Pedro really started picking up traction as Joel Miller, his most sought after character was the Mandalorian, and I don't recall ever seeing as much non-con and infantilization content as I do now.

All of the dynamics explored, at least in the fics I read, where all based upon mutual protection because of the environment that Mando was in. Mutual respect, mutual responsibility, because it was life or death. And even if age was a concern, the term daddy was hardly ever uttered.

With Joel, it's almost the complete opposite. Despite the landscape for the show literally being the end of the world, it seems as though the most popular works for the fiction focus on age gaps. And a good number of them, aren't even focused on the actual plot line. It's all: Dad's best friend, hot older man next door, perv! Joel, etc.

And I get it, I do! It's fanFICTION for a reason, you're supposed to create your own stories, but there seeks to be an underlying theme here that I don't believe I'm comfortable with.

What was the shift?

And I can't help but view your other point as one of interest as well.

A post I made a while ago highlighted a lack of representation, or rather an exclusion of POC in fanfiction due to descriptive terms often catering to a white demographic.

In a follow-up post I made, a response to an ask, I said that I couldn't help but wonder if the seemingly deliberate exclusion of inclusive vocabulary was because there has been a growing number of content feeding into this very lolita-esque style of reader. One of pink, princess purity, and sexuality found in corruption. And, because POC do not fit this image of purity in your mind, we are subconsciously removed from these spaces.

But now I'm wondering about other repercussions.

It's no secret that Latin women have been sexualized since Christopher Colonizer sailed the ocean blue, but I truly haven't looked at how Latin men may be as well.

As a black women, I know black men, (black women as well, but not as frequently) are often sexualized by other races for various reasons, but I wasn't aware that this may be happening in the Latin community as well.

Is it possible that Pedro, or rather his characters, present an easy target for blatant sexualization, even of graphic and exploitative content, because of this ideology?

Again, open to discussion.

the process of putting together a supercut, of rewriting and reimagining an (artificially) positive version of a particular storyline, is eerily similar to what tony blair does in every aspect of his life. this is especially noticeable when it comes to his relationship with gordon though — he rarely goes into detail as to just how ugly their interactions were, and his public statements about why they grew apart are always imbued with soulless language about “professional” and “political” disagreements, rather than any honesty about the deep personal betrayal that was actually going on. plus, whenever tony does express any sense of anguish over the breakdown of the relationship, he’s always incredibly quick to defend his own behaviour (denying granita even happened… what the hell), erasing any responsibility he might bear. he is LITERALLY creating and playing a supercut, one which only has any traction in his own head.

journalists have written about new labour in 1997 being drenched in a certain magic, offering the public something to believe in. “gave” is past tense though, as the tbgb relationship began to deteriorate just months after getting into government, and newlab’s popularity would only dwindle as the years went on.

remember that one clip in the gq alastair campbell interview where tony refused to say he didn’t dream about gordon? yeah i remember it too, isn’t that funny!

two things to say here. one, tony can’t reach for gordon because they are not on speaking terms like whatsoever not even remotely. two, i truly think that tony has repeated his own version of events concerning gordon, both in his head and in public, so many times that he’s come to view them as reality — even if tony did interact with gordon properly, he would only be able to see the version of gordon that he’s created.

1994-2005 (ish), they wanted to reconcile and ease the tensions, but external pressures (teams around them, pressures of the jobs, emotional blockages etc) prevented them from truly fixing anything.

Tthese lyrics give me the impression that the speaker would twist themselves into any shape, fashion themselves into any persona, just to hold the attention of the person these lines are directed at. Very much reminds me of accounts re the 1994 leadership discussions, where it’s said that tony was promising gordon anything and everything to get him to swing behind him, then making similarly wild promises about succession later in government just to keep gordon playing the game. Also, it reminds me of that absolutely fucking awful (positive) rawnsley quote that goes something like “tony would cajole, plead, argue, rail against gordon”, just to get him to talk to him.

in my head, this section relates to his immediate post-pmship period, where he’s taking on international roles left and right to try and recreate the pure magic of newlab (and ultimately failing! lets’s not be dishonest here).

if the phantom troupe were known for one thing it would be their heists. they were always successful mainly because they were more than happy to reaort to any means to pull them off, they were criminals after all. this success and confidence always only served to push chrollo to perform more and more daring heists - each payed off and it became a cycle, he would always have a growing confidence in his strategies.

recently he had planned out one of his most complex and risky heists yet. he had no hesitation in any point of it by the time he finally presented it to the rest of the troupe and they all were happy to go along with their leaders plan. to nobody's surprise, the plan went off without a hitch. sometimes it seemed like chrollo could plan for everything as every point in his strategy happened in perfect succession whichh lead to another perfect heist.

chrollo cared deeply for each and every troupe member and understood that keeping them happy would make him happy. since it was quite possibly their most daring heist yet, chrollo wanted to show some form of appreciation for the capabilities his group possessed. he eventually settled on taking them to quite a high profile club - it was a risk in itself as someone may recognise them but he had the confidence to know that they wouldn't be caught and so he went with the idea. mainly as he came to learn that quite a popular group of showgirls would be performing at the same time and so he doubted most of the attention would be on them.

it was meant to be a celebration and so chrollo didn't mind that he would be spending quite the costly amount, their recent heist more than made up for it. it would seem that because of the group performing at the club the same night, prices for anything at the club were much higher than usual - it was obvious it was the club's way of profiting more and more from others.

chrollo himself wasn't exactly the most outgoing or 'club' type. he spent most of the time sat inside the booth he booked for the group as he watched the others. the booth was lined with rather nice leather which surrounded a rather extravagant table and it had a perfect view of the stage. the club's atmosphere was practically buzzing up until the point the curtains on the stage lifted and most changed to cheer an applaud the group of girls on stage.

you and a couple of friends and their friends had once made the decision to form a group. you all had a similar interest in dancing and such, so you all were rather ecstatic when your group would be allowed to perform on stages in clubs and a few small theatres. each and every one of you shared the same passion which made it very easy to perfectly come up with routines and get enough practice in and it all seemed to pay off when bigger clubs and theatres started approaching you instead.

this by far would be your groups biggest performance yet. the other smaller performances obviously gained enough traction and popularity to become appealing to other places that would now happily pay your group good money to perform. the group's performances also started gaining popularity in general, with more and more people learning about the group which lead to a quick growth in following.

to say each of you was nervous would be an understatement. you all had been informed of the amount of people in the club at the time and it was by far the biggest crowd. your group spent hours toiling over outfits, practice and more practice but standing behind the curtain right before it was due to raise made all those hours seem pointless. but you'd be dammned if your nerves got you to ruined this grand opportunity for all of you.

chrollo didn't really care all that much for performances, he didn't really care that there would be a performance the night his group visited if anything he wondered if any of his members enjoyed such performances. he didn't expect to be so mesmerized. from the moment the group starrted performing his eyes drifted up from his drink to you, one of the girl's at the front leading.

he had never seen someone move with so much energy and passion yet seeming so weirdly elegant. he didn't want to seem like a creep but he just couldn't help but stare as you performed - while he could agree that your entire group was incredibly talented but you really couldn't help but unknowingly mesmerize him. he was one of first to applaud when you finished.

the group soon left to go off stage and since the club was still technically paying your group to stay longer as you're performance finished slightly early, you and the rest of the girls decided to spend the time in the club. right as you walked out back into the club you immediately heard someone whistle you over, you looked over to confirm the man was asking for you and you hesitantly went over. you didn't like the sense of dread that encompassed you aa ypu walked over but didn't want to be rude as maybe he just had a question.

chrollo watched as you hesitantly walked you're way over to the man, he could immediately tell two things - one, the guy was obviously a bit of a creep and two, you were trying to be polite. he was just out of earshot of the conversation but he could clearly tell the man was an absolute creep. the man who you tried convincing yourself was just wanting to ask a question, turned out to be a creep but now you didn't see a way out of your situation and deeply regretted not listening to your gut.

you're eyes frantically darted across the club hoping to catch someone's eye, somebody that could help you. chrollo caught your eye as he noticed how shaky you were getting and once you realised he was looking you tired to subtly hint that you needed help. but because you weren't looking at the man, he was starting to get annoyed and you didn't see him reaching out to grab you.

you blinked once and before you knew it the man you caught eyes with was now stood right beside you. when you turned back to the man you noticed that the man you caught eyes with was now holding the creep's hand that tried gravbing you in a clearly bruising grip. you knew this shouldn't be the time to be taking in the appearance of your saviour but you couldn't help but stare at some lf his odder features, such as the bright red mark on his head.

you practically gasped as you heard a sickening crack that caused the creep to cry out and catch the attention of some near by customers. you couldn't hear what the raven haired man said to the creep but you watched as he leaned forward and whispered something to the man that made his face drop. chrollo soon released the man who immediately grabbed his stuff, cradled his wrist and rushed to leave as fast as he possibly could.

what probably disturbed you the most was the fact that your helper looked absolutely calm as anything. you nervously coughed out a thank you as you were slightly shaken but luckily he seemed to fully grasp the gratitude you wanted to show. it wasn't long before a few of your group members rushed over to your side as they explained how they were so distracted and you told them it was fine because he helped you.

chrollo returned to his booth and your friends whisked you away backstage to calm down. you would later make a quick stop at chrollo's booth before you left to properly thank him. a few members that were sat there looked awkwardly away as they didn't quite know what to do but chrollo didn't mind and stood up and offered to walk you back to your friends who were only waiting outside. on the very short walk you insisted he didn't have to make such a meaningless journey but he assured you that he only wanted to make sure you stayed safe.

you also managed to pry his name out of him on the walk, telling him you would like to know the name of the man who helped you and in turn you told him yours. you parted ways with a bright smile to the man you now knew as chrollo before running to your friends. the day after, you would come to hear of a missing person that was last seen sprinting out of the club around the same time that creep did but you brushed it off as coincidence. the phantom troupe would also come to learn that chrollo liked taking them out to club's and theatre's no matter how high profile, and for some reason they always coincided with your group's performances to which chrollo would talk to you afterward.

three days you're so brave i feel ready to welcome you back here with a nice pint and some sleep meds.

this might have been a throwaway rhetorical question but i'll answer anyway because we all know i've thought about this a lottttt, so i have five reasons:

1) lack of anonymity

tiktok allows you to see the person, their name, their appearance, even their mannerisms if they're speaking etc, you know the person. that being said, of course, you only know as much as they are willing to give. but because you are *seeing* them, i think you naturally assume that this is all they are and it opens up that connection for negativity. it's easier to take it from "i don't like this headcanon" to "this person pisses me off"

and it's an unequal balance a lot of the time between commenters on private accounts, or even people posting faceless content, where they have more anonymity and therefore say what they want. it feels safer to drop a hate comment when you're private, and someone public who shows their face is an "easy target"

2) traction

there's two parts to this - the hierarchy and the algorithm.

algorithm wise, hate gets more traction. i.e the recent trend of "what's a (character) headcanon that you hate", you're going to get a lot more comments than "what's a headcanon you love". people get more traction when they say something hateful because then people argue in the comments, their video gets boosted and boom, traction.

the hierarchy is a bit more complicated and varies person to person but how i see it on tiktok is: faceless accounts (i.e carousels or editors) -> rec accounts -> whatever the fuck i do -> cosplayers -> fanfilm "actors" (cosplayers, fandom is not a job like acting is, regardless of your skill). and even then this varies because of followers etc but the hate follows up. and maybe that ties into anonymity as well actually but i think the main thing is that the more "content" you're "producing", the more hate you get from people who dislike it - "customers" who dislike the "product" they've gotten.

these two tie together a lot because people view likes and followers as desirable so they become more hateful to get up the hierarchy, and they're hateful to those that are already up there even when they put them there. it's very complicated and dumb but to sum it up in one word: capitalism :/

3) algorithm

tiktok has a looser algorithm. you can "curate" your fyp and you can "curate" your space, but it isn't secure. you will get things you dislike esp if, say you hate jegulus, the video has #marauders and #jegulus, and you've liked a lot of #marauders stuff, the jegulus video will come up because you can't block # on there.

but that doesn't explain the hate, what does is the fast-paced algorithm and how that affects attention span and empathy. yes, i sound like a grandad saying "it's the damn phones!!!" but it is. you can watch a video and scroll, and by the time you make it two videos down, you've forgotten what the first one was. it's very fast-paced and i think that adds to how comfortable people are sending hate. once they scroll, they forget the video, but the poster won't forget the comment as easily.

4) separation

in a fandom space, i think tiktok feels very separate to the writers. which sucks on one hand but also,,, i'm glad a lot of them aren't over there. because tiktok views their fics as a product and are horrible about them. but that separation aids to that negativity because you assume they won't see it. the same with "bigger" accounts, pepple assume they won't see their one negative comment but they will.

there's also, conversely, a lack of separation on tiktok. this is most relevant i think to my jkr discussions where marauders spaces and potterhead spaces overlap. and yes, i'm generalising, there are fans on both sides that hate jkr and fans on both sides that support her, but that mixing adds to the latter. you'll see content from universal on your fyp and repost it, and then it's in marauders spaces, or you'll see someone posting marauders merch and repost it because marauders, and the two are now so intertwined that you can't separate pro from anti even with the disclaimers in bios.

the reason it doesn't add to the former - no matter how much you try - is that tiktok, because of its fast-paced algorithm, isn't built for long form discussion.

which. yeah. oops, sorry. tried to rectify that, but tiktok isn't built for the kind of discussions people have over here, so no positive change really ever comes, just negative change.

5) social media in general is mean.

that's it. that's the whole point.

but yeah !! that's a few of the reasons i've deduced !! again, i sound like i complain a lot but generally tiktok was LOVELY and i met so many incredible people. unfortunately for everyone else, my degree is lit and politics and i can't engage in a fandom space without analysing it. engaging in discourse? no. studying the discourse.

but to summarise? tiktok is just very,,, capitalism based. not necessarily just with money (but yes, fanfilms i'm looking at you and your 50k start ups) but also just traction and the constant race to the top.

which is so sad because half the people "at the top" didn't even want to be there, people simply liked their stuff then got mad when they weren't sitting on this crafted pedestal "right"

but mostly, tiktok tends to view fandom and fandom content as a product. fics aren't shared with them, they're produced for them - which is very gross and icky (again, fanfilms im looking at you but i'd ramble on if i elaborated on this point oh i'm doing it anyway okay but !! paying for this film to be produced? asking fans to donate so you can make this film directly contributed to this who product mindset. and yes, people donate willingly so but sigh. i'd much rather get the film then donate if i see fit than have to pay to receive it? and i think that faction of fandom being so big on tiktok really messed up the fandom ideology over there)

This is my blog so Imma get on my soap box for one more thing about the whole "spam likers should be blocked" rhetoric.

People seem to have taken the idea from places like Instagram that spam liking gets you shadow banned because the algorithm thinks they're bots and—let me be clear when I say this:

THAT IS NOT HOW IT WORKS ON TUMBLR

Bots do not like your fanfic and fanart posts and tumblr does not ban you for getting multiple likes in a row!!!

Likes are literally part of the algorithm because tumblr has changed from the way it was back in the 2010s. Reblogs are absolutely one of the most helpful and valid ways to see posts on here—and people should definitely be encouraged to reblog and share with others, but reblogs are not the end-all-be-all of pushing content on here anymore.

The posts that the algorithm shows you takes into account the posts you yourself have liked and what those you follow/interact with have liked. You know these little feature here in preferences?

THEY ARE ALL BASED ON LIKES AND FAVORITE TAGS

Its why you see posts like this if you turn on the option.

Likes have become almost as equal in the algorithm as reblogs. Nowadays, a lot of people on tumblr's userbase only views the site via the mobile app instead of a laptop/desktop. It means that they're more likely to hit the like button on a post and scroll on so they can go back and find it later than they are likely to stopping every second to reblog each post.

That's just how things are now 🤷🏾‍♀️(and yeah that sucks lol)

If you don't believe me, the next time you see a post that has a lot of notes suggested to you in a search, tag or on the For You page—or anywhere on here, check the reblogs vs likes. Sometimes they're relatively equal

But I have noticed that a lot of the posts suggested to me also have way more likes than reblogs.

Again, I am NOT dissing people asking for reblogs because people really should be trying to reblog things from your favorite artists/writers/fandoms, but sometimes people will look at a post with a lot of notes and are more likely to reblog it. If you're looking for engagement then likes count towards that.

Social media has trained us to look at posts with a lot of traction (notes in this case), and make us more likely to share it. When you discourage and block people engaging with your posts via likes, you're just making the algorithm less likely to push your posts in the first place unless someone reblogs it.

And hey, if that's your jam, go on ahead, but even posts with ZERO notes that haven't been liked by people I follow get pushed to me if the algorithm thinks I'm going to enjoy it based on what I post and have liked before.

I could also get into the fact that with the way tumblr is set up, you could be blocking people that have to like posts and follow you from their main blog and reblog via a different side blog.

You could be blocking people that are too shy to openly engage with certain content right off the bat.

You could be blocking newcomers into your fandom.

You could be blocking people that see your content promoted to them in passing and might decide to come back and follow you later.

If you don't care about likes and only care about exposure via reblogs, then uh...ok. But my point is: please stop spreading the idea that likes mean nothing on tumblr 🙃

Why is PreGame Shuichi always seen as a yanderé when he's just an antisocial DanganRonpa fan?

Excellent question!

This has roots back into the japanese fandom so its hard to fully research actually, however we know kagehara comes from the japanese fandom through a compound kage, and hara, aka shadow saihara, kagehara 影原. This is likely chosen due to persona's use of shadow selves if i had to take a guess, which might also be why kagehara tends to have a much harsher yellow eye color like the one seen below on Shadow Yosuke, before this became so main stream there was also inchara 陰キャ原 for in character + saihara but this has never seen any popularity in the english fandom to my knowledge. There's also these names for the rest of the characters but only bonkichi really saw any traction in the english fandom

So now they we know the basis of the name, where does the yandere come in?

The first fanfiction i can find on ao3 that seems to lean into this view of pregame Shuichi of him being a dangerous creepy guy is This Must Be What Fun Is from 2017, while it lacks some of the more common later tropes and even has shuichi marked as aromantic, the obsessive and bloody traits commonly associated with it is definitely all there.

The first fic in the tag "pregame-shuichi" is audition from february 2017, however they used the tag ORIGINAL saihara which got tag wrangled in, and the first REAL use of the tag is from Can't Help Falling from December 2017

After that the first use of Kagehara in a fanfic description is At Least It's Something from July 2018 which is a selfcest fic with some WILD plot points actually i might need to look at that one later just out of morbid curiosity

From this, we can know the trope has its roots from the very start of the games release. Where the character of pregame shuichi in the audition tapes easily slid into an otaku characterization due to his obsession with danganronpa.

Thus, its easy to see where his creepy pervert personality come from, otaku stereotypes. You'll see this stigma in a lot of anime where characters try to hide being an otaku and such. This is why Kagehara often is soon as very reclusive, spending all his time and money on one thing, danganronpa, and not caring for anything outside this thing. To the point of antisocial behavior or becoming a threat to others. Immature, obsessive, and sexual deviancy. Classic stereotypical otaku characterization.

One of the stereotypes is usually being a creep towards an object of affection, and thus as the most popular ship, kokichi easily slotted into that stereotypical role of the object of affection. He's small, easily made a bit more feminized, and thus able to be the soft kawaii to be harassed.

Which as this becomes popular, likely for the same reasons any "zomg the main character is EVIIIIL actually" kinda thing gets popular, led to more people playing in the space and pushing it further and further until we get to where we are today!

Though, just between you and me, i have my own personal theory. I can't back it up with anything but it makes sense to me.

The audience comments in v3 are unhinged at times, with comments like "I wanna see the color of Shuichi’s blood" and "I want to break Shuichi’s fingers <3" the audience although only here for a short time has a very strong characterization and interesting dialogue. However, how do you portray this in a story? You really can't without someone to act as the proxy.

With the most fanboyish audition video, and the popularity to back it up, Shuichi ended up being this proxy. Kagehara isn't actually a reflection or evil version of shuichi or anything, it's the proxy to hold the audience in a way thats easy to write, and without the risks of say, writing an oc.

All of the fucked up things we hear about the audience and outside world, all the bad things, the talk of how boring everything but danganronpa is, these elements need a surrogate to embody it or else it can be hard to write with them. That's what kagehara is, the audience and what tsumugi tells about the outside word in a convenient familiar character shaped proxy Kokichi just got nabbed along for the ride as the most popular ship

looking at the wiki he's described as middle aged... maybe early 50s-early 60s?

youtube has been around for about 15 years and it probably started out as a hobby when he was in his 40s. although he never gained THAT much traction he was probably a niche exploration channel with a little following that dwindled over the years

the guy has a past in professional climbing but urban exploration was a prominent side hobby and interest for him so!!!

most of his notes as the vlogger victim are weirdly calm? i doubt he had much experience in paranormal prior but i guess if you're an urban explorer you're used to places being pretty nasty the further you go

he definitely encountered the specimen (since they're referenced in pretty much every other victim's notes and it's described that he went through specimen areas) but the fact that he never mentions them in his notes is interesting (i guess all these horrors beyond comprehension all equate to an 'uneasy vibe'). there's a lot of persona involved in vlogging so in refraining from actually mentioning any wounds or monsters he's encountered OM is masking the fear he has. he wants to let everyone know 'hey!!! hey im okay and managing!!'

i think the prospect of having an audience might have left him at least a little comforted. he probably found other lines of notes at the time and took solace in the concept of people knowing he's alive and moving (even if they don't know him personally)

i still hate the fact that his writing patterns completely change between specimen 12 and endless mode hallways but i get that if he was going 'hey guys. erm, so THAT just happened.' it would ruin suspense from a gameplay point of view so. I'll let that slide :/

he's been in for a few months and by the time the protagonist meets him, he's not COMPLETELY gone. specimen 12's weird parasitic nature relies on the prior host's death, and in parrying axe attacks he still has some kind of self preservation. but he definitely doesn't remember who he is or why he's there. 12 isn't exactly fully possessing but is more of a mindfuck like foodie and bab that mess with perception and mental state. it controls but doesn't invade

in OG OM was voiced by vernon shaw (hot pepper gaming). altho this was changed as well as the chillis being removed from specimen 12 in HD, the concept of specimen 12 being so deathly and terrible that only incredibly spicy and near-toxic food being able to grow in it is funny. no wonder he sounds like that.

as to further agitate hosts into murder, 12 doesn't actually generate any food. luckily, OM isn't a cannibal host and lives off of whatever he can grow down in the basement and any dead rats or (god forbid) specimen 3 carcasses that are around. If it wasn't for the strength given to him around 12 he would have died in a week

being an extrovert and feeding from that concept of an audience, being alone has had a massive toll on his mental state. this probably made him a more desirable host for 12 - if he's craving conversation and people then having voices and mirages impact his perception would definitely fuck him up enough to give in to kill. i don't usually take common headcanon names into account but people calling 12 'parry' gave me the idea of the spirits of 12 manifesting in visions as a singular being (although this vision is different to every host) in an attempt to aid with the host sympathising and agreeing with it.......

the entire hide-and-seek style game he creates for the protagonist - as well as sparked on by the protag being someone much younger than the typical victim (ILL WRITE MY PROTAG HCS IF ASKED.....) - is a reflection of him stalling to kill in order to entertain himself and 'entertain' his victim. if it weren't for his longing for human contact he'd probably kill straight off-the-bat but the opportunity to fulfill the gap for a short amount of time is open and sought-after.

despite this, there's a mutual separation between him and other specimen. he's not seen as a nuisance alike specimen 14 as he doesn't openly attack the others but is still a missed opportunity and not particularly wanted by anyone. most of the time he remains in specimen 12 but OM will venture out (on occasion) to specimen 13's rooms. his ONE good specimen relationship!!!

fumbling their way thru the mansion would likely lead 14 to again meet OM at some point. 14 being hit with the SPECIMEN BEAM definitely enhanced their strength at least enough to kill and swing that axe more effectively. in anycase, if the two were to fight and OM almost loses, the clarity given through his self preservation is enough to at least make him aware that

1. He's being beat the shit out of by a teenager

2. He's attempting to kill the only other person in a similar situation to him

speaking OF that, the parallels within sjsm of the protag and [i guess ex-protag] seem to be everywhere when it comes to OM.

him recovering (or getting worse depending on how you see it) by mentoring and helping 14 survive within the mansion is always a concept i thought of given they're both humans who have (somewhat) made it through. he'd definitely have more of a drive to live on (and kill the enterers b4 they could kill him)

i had the idea that if 12 is constantly expanding and shifting through the mansion then OM and 14 could take advantage of that and start actually growing stuff.... making a little survivors camp and plotting.

Apparently people a few very loud people are going around saying that hhbomberguy's RWBY vid are responsible for RWBY needing to be asked to get greenlit.

It's funny, but also kinda disturbing how much people are treating this as a personal attack on Monty and his friends.

Yeah, I’ve seen some of those posts as well as RWDE reactions to the posts. As you say, it’s important to keep in mind that this is a small subset of the fandom that is not only vocal in-and-of-itself but, more significantly, is saying stuff that gets traction. The more wild the take, the more individual blogs want to react to it (myself included right now!), the more you see it, the more prevalent it seems... but in reality it’s just a couple individuals saying it. I’d also hazard a guess that 99% of their support is just that: supporting someone you follow, whose views you generally like, and the vague anti-RWDE stance that the fandom enjoys indulging in. If you took each person out of the Internet Social Pressure Machine of Instant Gratification (aka I press one heart button and instantly I’ve got some social clout. No reason to think about what precisely I’m agreeing with) and asked them if they really believe one video by one guy online has decimated a series sitting within Warner Bros... I’d hope they’d say “No.”

For anyone who does truly believe that, yeah, it’s ridiculous. What amuses me though is how thoroughly the argument disses RWBY. I mean, we know a YouTube video isn’t responsible for #greenlightvol10, but if someone thinks it is that’s probably a popularity perspective. Meaning, the presumed logic is that someone said RWBY is bad, people believed him, stopped watching, and now the show struggles. That’s a chain of events that implies either:

a) RWBY is bad in a number of ways and people have decided they don’t want to give the show their time/money as a result. b) Hbomberguy is lying (the argument most of these posts make) and so many fans took him at his word, with RWBY unable to persuade them otherwise. The show they originally loved wasn’t good enough for them to stick with once an internet stranger said, ‘Thing you like bad.’ The accolades and praise of friends wasn’t enough to convince new viewers to give it a try because one (1) voice said otherwise. The combined total of RWBY - six seasons worth at the time - couldn’t withstand two and a half hours of criticism; it’s combined worth couldn’t weather one guy’s opinion lasting the length of a film.

So if you believe he’s responsible for RWBY’s current struggles then, sorry, but RWBY doesn’t come out looking too good. Either Hbomberguy merely revealed what’s always been there and RWBY is now reaping its writing + production problems, or Hbomberguy lied for two hours and RWBY wasn’t a good enough show to recover from that staggeringly low hurdle.

Or, you know, the greenlighting of new seasons has nothing to do with someone posting one critical video in an age where every fandom of significant size has more critical videos than you can shake a stick at. Engagement shouldn’t be overlooked as a factor, but it’s far from the only factor and, even if it was, one fan does not have the power to sway an entire community like that. Especially if the show is good enough that fans have no reason to question its quality in the first place.
